Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
Located between the provinces of Ontario and Saskatchewan, Manitoba serves as the gateway to western Canada. In 1998, Manitoba took the pioneering step of launching Canada’s first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This move was crucial for a province with a relatively low immigrant population, as it needed to attract skilled immigrants to boost its economy and promote itself as an attractive destination for newcomers.
Overview of MPNP
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) officially became a permanent immigration program in 1998. Its primary objective is to drive economic growth in the province by addressing its specific economic and labor market needs through immigration.
Initially welcoming 418 immigrants in its inaugural year, the MPNP has since grown significantly, now nominating over 5,000 new immigrants annually. This influx of skilled workers and entrepreneurs has been instrumental in Manitoba's economic development, with immigration contributing substantially to the province's GDP.
One of the key advantages of immigrating through the MPNP is the high likelihood of employment. Over 90% of provincial nominees secure jobs within their first year, leading to a remarkable retention rate of almost 90%, as many choose to stay and contribute to Manitoba's thriving communities.
Manitoba Immigration Streams
If you're considering immigrating to Manitoba, you have several pathways to explore:
1.Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream:  For skilled workers currently employed in Manitoba with a job offer from a local employer.

Work visas: 10 countries with positive outlook for Nigerians in 2024
Tumblr media
Over the year, there have been around 10 work visa policies with a positive outlook for foreign talent ahead of 2024.
These are the countries Nairametrics captured in 2023 which invited foreign talent to occupy positions based on skills shortages in certain occupations, and in-demand skills.
About work visas for foreign skilled talent
In today’s globalised economy, work visas are pivotal for cross-border talent mobility, typically requiring employer sponsorship.
This process involves initiating and supporting visa applications, providing job offers, filing necessary paperwork, and fulfilling legal obligations for foreign workers to work in a different country legally.
Work visa sponsorship offers several advantages which include access to global talent, filling skill gaps, enhancing diversity and cultural exchange, and retaining valuable foreign employees.
This article will highlight the immigration policies of some countries which Nairametrics captured in 2023, and the outlook for 2024 for the Nigerians seeking immigration opportunities for work.
On the other hand, it will also look into countries clamping down on work visas and migration in general. It is worth checking the official immigration sites of these countries for more comprehensive information.
Germany
Germany announced that it has 21 pathways to work, live or study in the country
Job shortages are in the following sectors: Agriculture, Construction, and Transportation
Germany has also simplified the process for skilled workers to obtain the Blue Card visa, notably by allowing foreign workers to get a job at a lower salary threshold.
Holders of the Blue Card visa also benefit from an accelerated path to permanent residency, becoming eligible as early as 21 months after relocating to Germany.
Finland
Finland announced that it plans to increase work-based migration to 30,000 individuals annually, as the country has been actively encouraging international workers to address the growing labour crisis through its initiatives.
Some of the initiatives include the ‘Work in Finland’ and ‘Talent Boost’ programs and it has also positioned itself as a hub of opportunities for researchers, and innovators
Finland is actively seeking skilled professionals globally as a result of the rising worker shortage affecting vital sectors like healthcare, personal care, social work, daycare teaching, and construction.
New Zealand
Nairametrics learns that from next year, New Zealand will expand its Green List to include a wide range of professions in construction, information technology, automotive, and engineering which would enable them to utilize the Green List visas when seeking specialized talent not readily found among the local workforce.
Other changes also involve elevating the Recognised Seasonal Employer quota to 19,500 for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
NZ also introduced a new visa program for eligible care workers providing an opportunity for permanent residence, work, and study in New Zealand including partners and dependent children under 24 in the application.
Australia
Victoria Province in Australia opened applications for two visa pathways that allow you to work, study, and live permanently in Australia without a job offer through the Visa 190 or Visa 491 routes.
These visas do not require a job offer, and you can become an Australian citizen if eligible. However, the selection is based on various factors including an IELTS test.
Italy
Italy announced it is allocating 136,000 work visas for non-EU workers by 2024 which may present opportunities to foreigners in these occupations who aspire to live and work in Italy.
These workers are to fill roles across 10 in-demand professions nationwide.
Canada
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) in Canada broadened opportunities for immigrants in Saskatchewan.
This expansion includes 279 additional occupations, ranging from farm labourers to truck drivers, retail sales, nurse aides, and equipment operators.
Canada also announced that employers in seven selected sectors (Food Manufacturing, Wood Product Manufacturing, Furniture and Related Product Manufacturing, Accommodation and Food Services, Construction, Hospitals, and Nursing and Residential Care Facilities) may continue to hire up to 30% of their workforce in low-wage positions through the TFWP.
Earlier, Canada announced a new policy to facilitate the approval of family reunification for study applicants.
Singapore
Singapore currently needs 260,000 professionals across Technology, Banking, and Engineering.
Singapore is actively addressing the repercussions of the pandemic-induced departure of foreign workers by countering it with a surge of 260,000 new hires, compensating for the loss of 194,000 foreign workers during the pandemic.
The booming tech industry is a driving force behind its economic growth, and the rapid expansion of technology hubs has resulted in this workforce gap.
Netherlands
Netherlands has 442,000 job openings with about 35,000 positions in the public sector
The thriving sectors are Agriculture and food, Creative Industries, Chemicals, Energy, IT, Health and life sciences, Logistics and Services, and hospitality.
The in-demand occupations are: Engineers, technical professionals, IT specialists, finance experts, and individuals in sales, marketing, and customer service are in-demand occupations
Tax advantages are available for eligible international employees
Cyprus
Cyprus has introduced its Golden Knowledge Programme for foreign nationals in the ‘research and innovation’ sector to apply for expedited citizenship through a fast-track process.
Applicants are therefore required to have a physical presence in Cyprus, establishing genuine connections with the island.
Croatia
Croatia is currently grappling with labour shortages, particularly in industries such as construction and building trades, automotive, culinary arts, and food production, as well as information technology and software development.
According to data released by the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), the number of published job vacancies is 16,832.
Oman
The conversion of Oman visitor or tourist visas into work visas has been suspended.
This alteration in immigration regulations became effective on October 31st.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has implemented more stringent visa regulations for hiring domestic workers from overseas by introducing an official digital platform.
One of the restrictions the government places on the platform is that employers seeking a visa must be 24 years old or older.
United Kingdom
The UK government stated that effective from spring 2024, skilled worker visa applicants must earn £38,700 ($48,900), up from the current £26,200 ($33,000) to obtain a work visa.
This stringent immigration reform aims to significantly reduce annual immigration numbers by hundreds of thousands.
This was facilitated by the Home Secretary James Cleverly who asserted the need for “robust action” to curb authorized immigration, which reached a record high of nearly 750,000 in 2022.
Earlier, the country increased student visa application fees by 285%
The UK was among the countries that opted to discontinue its Golden Visa program
The United Kingdom (UK) government announced restrictions that will most likely stop Nigerian students and other nationalities studying in the country from bringing their families over.
Sweden
Sweden implemented a significant increase in the required salary threshold for work permit holders, affecting both first-time applicants, and those seeking permit renewals, including those with pending applications. This applies to non-EU workers
Commencing from November 1st, the minimum monthly salary for work permit holders was   increased from 13,000 kronor to 27,360 kronor which is 80 per cent of Sweden’s median
The goal of this change is to decrease per cent of labour immigration and address issues related to fraud and misuse connected to labour immigration.
Analysis of countries with a positive outlook for work permits
Amongst the countries discussed, Germany, Singapore, New Zealand, and other countries appear to have a positive outlook.
These countries extended work permits to foreign nationals through extended pathways, in-demand occupations due to labour shortages, and relaxed immigration rules.
Other countries which initiated programs to attract foreign workers include Finland, Croatia, and Cyprus.
Finland introduced its ‘Work in Finland’ and ‘Talent Boost’ programs. Similarly, Cyprus introduced a new pathway called the Golden Knowledge Programme for foreign nationals in the ‘research and innovation’ sector.
Countries seeking to reduce migration
Conversely, countries such as the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Oman are actively seeking to curb immigration levels.
Immigration in the United Kingdom reached a record high of nearly 750,000 in 2022 which is why the country has placed a limit on care workers and other health workers and has introduced measures such as higher salary threshold and restriction on bringing dependents.
In the Middle East, countries such as Oman which used to allow the conversion of visitor visas to work visas are no longer doing so.

Provincial Nomination Magic: SINP Occupation in Demand and Manitoba PNP Decoded
Understanding Demand and the SINP Business in Manitoba PNP
In the constantly changing landscape of immigration policies, prospective immigrants often find themselves navigating through a myriad of options. The two major programs in Canada, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) and the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), are distinctive in their focus on sinp occupation in demand. Let's delve into the details to understand how these programs work and what makes them attractive to potential immigrants.
Introduction to SINP (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program)SINP is a provincial immigration program designed to attract skilled workers, entrepreneurs and farmers to contribute to Saskatchewan's economic development. One of its key features is the In Demand Occupations List, which outlines specific occupations that are currently in demand in the province.
Overview of the Manitoba PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) Similarly, the Manitoba PNP works with the goal of meeting the labor market needs of the province. This allows the province to nominate individuals who demonstrate the skills and qualifications necessary to contribute effectively to the local economy. The program, like SINP, identifies businesses seeking to streamline the immigration process.
Importance of in-demand occupationsWhy are in-demand occupations important in terms of immigration? These occupations are identified based on the labor market needs of a particular province, ensuring that newcomers have the skills that are currently sought by employers. This not only increases the chances of getting employment but also contributes to the overall economic development of the area.
Eligibility Criteria for SINP and Manitoba PNPTo qualify for these programs, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria. This may include educational qualification, work experience, language proficiency and adaptability factors. It is important for potential immigrants to understand these criteria to assess their eligibility and prepare a strong application.

Employers in these provinces actively seek individuals with skills that match the demand list, creating a win-win situation for immigrants and the local workforce.

Eligibility Criteria of the PNP Program
Since there are so many streams it is difficult to list all the eligibility requirements according to each province and territory. So, why not list the basic requirements that a candidate needs to fulfill to be eligible? Won’t that be easier? Okay so let’s start then.
The first thing that one needs to have is work experience. Work experience is one of the most important aspects that increases points of an applicant, which in turn increases their chances of immigration.
And the second most important thing is language proficiency. A candidate with a high proficiency in either of the official languages of Canada has more chances of immigration.
Some PNPs even ask you to have a valid job offer.
There are quite a few PNPs that require candidates to show relation to the province. The candidate could have studied in that province or they might have a close relative living in that province.
The candidate needs to have genuine intentions to live and stay in that province.
One more thing that matters is the candidate’s education. To be eligible for a PNP, the candidate must have some minimal educational qualification.
Reasons why Candidates Choose PNPs
One of the main reasons why candidates go for PNP is to get additional CRS points. When a province nominates a candidate, they automatically get 600 additional points which no doubt raises the CRS score. Moreover, a candidate may choose a particular province to immigrate to and so they can do so by choosing a PNP.
Another reason to choose a PNP could be because the candidate might have a job offer from that particular province.

4 Provinces in Canada Where Obtaining PR Will Be Easier in 2023
Tumblr media
Based on your profile, the nomination schemes of provinces may be the simplest way to obtain PR in Canada. So, which provinces make it the simplest for candidates with no ties to Canada to obtain PR?
There are numerous nominee programmes, each with its own set of eligibility criteria. Provinces can use PNPs to meet their own particular immigration demands. PNPs are generally intended to cover labour-force shortfalls, therefore they will seek applicants with experience in in-demand occupations.
We are frequently asked whether the Canadian Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is the simplest for foreign candidates to enter. While many PNPs need a connection to their province, such as a job offer, work experience, or an educational certificate, some programmes welcome individuals simply on the basis of their ability to fill labour or demographic gaps.
The four provinces regarded the easiest for international applicants to obtain PR in Canada in 2023 are as follows:
Saskatchewan's International Skilled Worker: In-Demand Occupation and Express Entry:  Saskatchewan, located in Canada's prairie area, has been a favourite destination for immigrants due to its strong financial growth and job prospects.
The International Skilled Worker PNP of Saskatchewan's Occupations In-Demand and Express Entry streams are intended to attract employees with experience in the province's in-demand occupations. Candidates for these International Skilled Worker streams are hand-selected through an Expression of Interest (EOI) method.
Applicants must have at least one year of experience in an occupation that is not on SINP's Excluded Occupations List in order to submit an EOI. Candidates must also have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be fluent in English or French. Any candidate who meets Saskatchewan's minimum eligibility criteria, such as scoring at least 60 points on their Points Assessment Grid, is eligible to submit an EOI profile. Profiles submitted are then considered for one of SINP's EOI draws. In SINP EOI drawings, only candidates with the highest competitive SINP score and in-demand vocations are invited.
Aspirants who qualified for Express Entry can apply through the Saskatchewan Express Entry stream to have their permanent residence application processed more quickly. Those who are not eligible to submit an Express Entry profile can still apply through the Saskatchewan Occupations In-Demand stream.
2) The Express Entry Program in Alberta:
Alberta, Canada's western province, is home to some of the country's most prosperous cities, including Calgary and Edmonton. Alberta is a notable province for prospective newcomers due to its booming employment market and excellent education system.
Candidates for provincial nomination are chosen from the federal Express Entry pool by the Alberta Express Entry stream. One significant advantage of this stream is that Express Entry candidates with CRS scores as low as 300 are considered, which implies that more candidates in the pool will have a chance to get a Notice of Interest from the province.
It is important to note that a CRS score of 300 or higher does not ensure acceptance into Alberta's Express Entry programme. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program discloses the CRS score of the lowest-ranked candidate in each round of invitations but not the other targeted criteria. A candidate's chances may be improved by the following factors:
A qualifying relative who is an Alberta permanent resident or citizen;
A job offer or work experience in Alberta,
A credential from a Canadian post-secondary institution
Alberta's Express Entry system is linked to the federal Express Entry system. That is, earning a provincial nomination raises an applicant's CRS score by 600 points, effectively assuring them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR in the next Express Entry lottery.
Alberta is frequently regarded as one of the simplest jurisdictions in Canada to obtain PR due to its low CRS requirement.
3) Ontario's Priority Stream for Human Capital:
Ontario is the most popular immigration destination in Canada, with many newcomers lured to the busy city of Toronto and its expanding tech-jobs sector. As a result, the province has a significant quota for assisting newcomers in immigrating through PNP channels.
Despite having one of the largest quotas in the country, Ontario wishes to attract even more newcomers. To help address the province's labour shortfall, Ontario's Labour Minister Monte McNaughton recently proposed that the number of immigrants accepted under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) be increased from 9,000 to 18,000 per year.
For people who do not reside in Canada, Ontario's Human Capital Priority stream is an excellent choice. This stream favours talented persons capable of filling skilled job openings in the province.
Human Capital Priorities also uses the federal Express Entry system. Applicants have to have an active Express Entry profile and a CRS score of 400 or above. Ontario examines all Express Entry profiles and invites specific profiles to apply to the PNP, often based on a group of NOC codes and a specific CRS range.
Ontario submitted 3,513 candidates under the Human Capital Priorities stream in 2021. Almost half of these nominees were invited through OINP's targeted tech draw.
Ontario also has a PNP stream for French-speaking Skilled Workers with Fast Entry profiles. If you have intermediate to advanced French skills, this programme could be a wonderful fit for you!
Because of Ontario's large immigration quotas, the province organises frequent draws, making it one of the simplest provinces in Canada for qualified individuals to get permanent residency.
4) Stream of Labour Market Priorities in Nova Scotia:
Nova Scotia is situated on Canada's east coast, on the Atlantic. The province's proximity to the ocean, low cost of living, and relaxed way of life make it a desirable destination for many prospective visitors.
Nova Scotia's Employment Market Priorities also chooses individuals from the Express Entry pool directly. Because this stream frequently welcomes profiles with no ties to the province, it is regarded as one of the easiest PNPs for international applicants to acquire PR.
Nova Scotia does not disclose the occupations or criteria that will be targeted before to their admission rounds, but they frequently accept people who have no ties to the province. Candidates must have an active Express Entry profile and express their interest in Nova Scotia.
Candidates that get an invitation from Nova Scotia may petition for a provincial nomination. Because the stream uses the Fast Entry mechanism, successful nominees gain 600 points added to their CRS score. These extra points almost ensure an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a federal Fast Entry draw.
Which PNP is the best fit for you?
With over 80 PNPs to select from, we understand how difficult it may be to determine which immigration programme is ideal for you. It can be difficult to know where to begin because the simplest province to get PR in Canada will often rely on your individual unique profile. Saskatchewan PNP latest draw issued total of 35 Invitations
Saskatchewan PNP latest draw issued total of 35 Invitations
The Saskatchewan PNP draw, also known as the SINP draw (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program), sent only 35 new new invites for permanent residency (PR). This draw invited only 6 NOC codes as compared to 82 NOC codes in September 28, 2022 draw. This Saskatchewan PNP draw just came in as surprise. Most of the, or we can saw all of the PNPs are not sending any invites because of new TEER system…
