29 cops suspended on extortion charges in UPs Mirzapur

Uttar Pradesh Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinandan took action against 29 police officers, who had been exploiting their positions in various police stations for years, by relieving them from duty. This action came two days after 18 people, including 16 touts and two UP Police constables, were arrested for their alleged involvement in extortion of money from truck drivers on the UP-Bihar border. The Mirzapur SP initiated this action after receiving complaints of illegal extortion and other misconduct involving these officers. SP Abhinandan stated that there were consistent complaints regarding illegal extortion and mistreatment of complainants in police stations against the suspended officers. In response to these complaints, a total of 29 officers have been suspended from duty. Bengaluru: Gang dupes businessman on pretext of arranging Rs 100 crore loan; 5 arrested

The group met Vincent, a garment merchant, and promised him Rs 100 crore to help him build his business, but then vanished after accepting the advance money.

Bengaluru: In yet another shocking incident, a 47-year-old businessman was allegedly duped by a gang of five members under the guise of arranging a Rs 100 crore loan. Police have arrested five people who have allegedly cheated the businessman.

The arrested accused have been identified as Santosh Tiwari (45), Sanjay Bhusan Shukla (47), Mohammed Imdad (48), Iliaz Pasha (42) and Mohammed Wasim (29).

The suspects' bank accounts were frozen and Rs 23 lakh in cash was recovered by Electronics City police.

The group met Vincent, a garment merchant, and promised him Rs 100 crore to help him build his business, but then vanished after accepting the advance money, The Times of India reported.

A cheating case was registered by the police against three accused on January 29. To arrest the accused, a team headed by inspector Anil Kumar HD and assistant commissioner of police (Electronics City sub-division) Pavan M was formed by Srinath Mahadev Joshi, deputy commissioner of police (southeast).

Based on the information provided by the main suspects, three additional people were apprehended in Bengaluru, TOI reported.

Vincent had intended to expand into the overseas market. He was anxious for large loans to satisfy his immediate working capital demands, estimating his requirement at Rs 100 crore. Subramani, a friend, connected him to Shukla, who allegedly offered to arrange Rs 100 crore.

Shukla allegedly requested Vincent to pay 1% of the total to his supervisor, who owns a private company in Chandigarh.

Vincent agreed, and Shukla set up a meeting with a duo on January 26 at a hotel in Electronics City. He gave them Rs 5 lakh in the hotel and Rs 30 lakh the following day. On January 29, he transferred Rs 63 lakh to a bank account and handed another Rs 2 lakh in cash.

After promising to send the loan money by the evening, the gang members disappeared.

Chandramukhi is one of the pivotal characters in the 1917 Bengali novelDevdas by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Her character was inspired by the Hindumystical singer Meera, who devoted her life to Lord Krishna; similarly Chandramukhi devoted her life to Devdas.[1] Chandramukhi is portrayed as a hooker with a heart of gold in the novel and its film adaptations.[2] Chandramukhi means 'moon faced' or 'as beautiful as the moon' in Sanskrit.[3]

In the novel[edit]

Chandramukhi is a courtesan who lives in Calcutta also known as Kolkata. She is considered the most beautiful and richest prostitute in the area of Chitpur.[4] She is first introduced to Devdas by Chunnilal, who returns to Calcutta heartbroken after the marriage of Parvathi 'Paro'. Devdas, disgusted over Chandramukhi's profession insults her and leaves her kotha. Chandramukhi, impressed by Devdas's attitude, later falls in love with him after realizing his steadfast love for Paro. She leaves her profession for Devdas and convinces him to marry her; he, however, has to reluctantly reject her offer as he has devoted his life to Paro. In return, Chandramukhi does not force him to be with her but waits patiently for him. Subsequently, she also moves to Ashthajhari village, where she lives in a muddy house located at the bank of a river and helps the needy. After some struggle, she meets with Devdas again, who now accepts her love.

In most of the film adaptations of Devdas, the story of Chandramukhi is similar to the novel. Ibm lotus notes mac. However, in most of the films her humanitarian work in helping the needy is not depicted. Unlike in the novel, a scene in which Chandramukhi and Parvathi meet was added in Bimal Roy's 1955 version when Paro, played by Suchitra Sen riding in a human rickshaw, comes across Chandramukhi, played by Vyjayanthimala, who just stares at Paro without a single word being exchanged between them.[5] The meeting scene of Paro and Chandramukhi in the 1955 version was still regarded as one of the memorable scene in Bollywood with the background music adding the impact to the scene.[6] In the 2002 version, the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, extended the interaction between Paro and Chandramukhi, also showing them dancing together to the hit song 'Dola Re Dola'.[7]

Chandramukhi is one of the first characters in an Indian novel to deal with prostitution.[9] She was often depicted as a prostitute with a heart of gold.[10] The character of Chandramukhi had paved the way for other portrayals of prostitutes in films like Sadhna, Pyaasa and Pakeezah.[11] Actresses such as Nargis, Suraiya and Bina Rai refused to enact the role of a prostitute in the 1955 film of Devdas, which later went to Vyjayanthimala.[12]

Legacy[edit]

Chandramukhi was well-received in India by critics. In 2006, Rediff listed Chandramukhi in their list of 'Bollywood's Best Tawaif'.[13]Nikhat Kazmi of The Times of India also ranked Chandramukhi at #5 in his list 'Tart with a heart', saying that 'The egotistical Paro may have given her boy friend the goby, but self-sacricficing Chandramukhi was willing to put everything on hold — her livelihood too — for her lover'.[14]

The first notable award was won by Vyjayanthimala in 1956 when she won the Filmfare Awards, known as Bollywood's Oscar,[15] in the Supporting Actress category. However, she was also the first person to decline the award, as she thought that her role was not a supporting one but was of equal importance and parallel to that of Parvathy in the 1955 version.[16] Other actresses who played Chandramukhi in Hindi versions of the novel have also won this award.[13]

Singrauli (MP), Sep 12 (PTI) Four minor boys drowned in Son river at Kudar Lamsara village in Madhya Pradesh”s Singrauli district on Saturday, police mentioned.

The incident occurred when the victims, who had gone to wash in the river, ventured into the deep water and have been swept away by sturdy currents, inspector Santosh Tiwari of Garhwa police station mentioned.

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father, KK Singh, has spoken about his son’s death, and confirmed that Sushant was looking to settle down in 2021. Sushant died by suicide on June 14, at the age of 34. He was suffering from depression.

Sushant’s father said in a TV interview, according to Tadka Bollywood, that the actor used to be very open with his feelings when he was younger, but became more reclusive in recent years. “Pehle toh sab bolta tha par last me kya hua, usne bataya nahi (He used to be frank before, but didn’t speak much about what he was going through towards the end),” his father said.

About Sushant’s ex-girlfriend, actor Ankita Lokhande, Sushant’s father said that not only did she visit them in Mumbai, but also in Patna. Sushant and Ankita met on the sets of their TV show Pavitra Rishta, and dated for six years. She was spotted visiting Sushant’s Mumbai home after his passing. She was the only girl in Sushant’s life that his father knew of, and he wasn’t aware of Rhea Chakraborty. He also said that he met Kriti Sanon, who praised Sushant immensely at the funeral.

Sushant’s father said that he’d spoken with the actor about his marriage plans. “Iss par baat hui thi, usne bola tha ki corona me toh nahi, fir uske baad ek film aa rahi hai, wo karlenge, uske baad February-March mein dekhte hai karenge. Yehi last baat hui thi uske sath meri (We had spoken about it earlier. He had told me that he won’t get married during corona but after his upcoming film releases, he will think about planning a wedding around February-March. This was the last conversation we had about his marriage).”

While Sushant’s father didn’t reveal the identity of the girl he wanted to marry, he said, “We told him he should get married to a girl of his choice as he has to spend his life with her.”

On Sunday, Sushant’s family held a prayer meet for him in Patna. It was attended by Bhojpuri actor Akshara Singh and Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari, among others.
