author’s note: i got like ~5 requests to write this so here you guys go! this was a popular one lmao. the story is a vague spinoff to my other fic pretty in that, but it doesn't have to be read to understand this one.
You’d volunteered to deal with the docking fees for the Going Merry, locking up the pirate ship as the rest of the crew entered Baratie. You were just five or so minutes late entering after the restaurant the rest of the Straw Hats had gone into. You’d never seen anything like it before—an eatery right in the middle of the ocean, in the shape of a giant fish.
You stepped into the building cautiously, glancing around the wide expanse of the main room to try and catch a glimpse of your friends. The restaurant was big, with a mezzanine that you’d entered in and stairs leading down to the first floor. The host, a fishman who was standing at the reservation desk, glanced up to take a look at you.
“Ah, you must be with the pirates,” he said pleasantly. “Right this way, miss.”
You nodded, wondering how Luffy was intending on paying for the bill of such a place as you scoped out the area. It was far nicer than anything you would’ve expected—but then again, he’d somehow managed to score the Going Merry from Kaya back in Syrup Village, so you figured he’d work something out.
Finally, you caught a glimpse of the rest of your crew, tucked away in a circular side booth that the fishman led you to. Luffy brightened upon seeing you, waving you over with a hand so excitedly you feared it was about to flop around like rubber. Considering his powers, that was a more than likely situation, actually.
“Thank you,” you told the host, then turned towards your friends. “No food yet?”
“You didn’t miss much,” Usopp said, a little snicker in his voice. “Just the waiter getting our drink orders. He was flirting the heck outta Nami.”
“Oh?” you asked, a smile flickering up your lips. The only open space in the table was between Zoro and Nami—you gave Zoro a confused look, and he gestured down to his swords, which were caught in the ledge between the chair and the wall. You snickered. “Ro. You’re such a loser.”
“Shut up,” Zoro muttered, hand on your waist as you climbed over him to get to the empty seat. It stayed there for a moment longer, even after you’d arranged yourself in the seat, before he finally dropped his hand. Usopp made a face that you pointedly ignored.
“What’d you guys order?” you asked instead. If there’d been a menu available, the waiter had probably taken it away; still, there wasn’t much variety in the East Blue, so you could expect there’d be a lot of seafood and not much else.
“One of everything,” Luffy responded brightly. “So we’ll be able to try the whole menu!”
“You sure that’s a good idea, Cap?” you asked, brows raised. Luffy shrugged.
“I don’t see why not.”
“Quit it with the nickname,” Zoro muttered. Neither him or Nami had gotten any more receptive to it since you’d first started calling Luffy it. Usopp didn’t seem so keen on it either—if only because he fancied himself Captain Usopp. Luffy liked it, though, and that pleased you enough to keep using it.
“I’ll get you to start saying it eventually,” you teased, nudging Zoro in the arm. He shook his head, but there was a suggestion of a smile on his lips as he glanced away. “Just you wait.” You turned to Nami, eyes sparkling. “What about the waiter, though? Was he cute?”
Usopp laughed at that, and Nami gave you a disparaging look. “Come on,” she started. “Not you too. Zoro was all—”
The sound of footsteps cut off her speech, and you glanced up to find a lean, blond man pausing by the lip of your table. He held a silver plate, upon which perched a variety of different drinks—beers, milk, water. “Here are your drinks,” he said, voice lifting with an accent you couldn’t quite place. “And appetizers.”
He had just finished placing the last of the drinks balancing on his forearm on the table when the waiter glanced up and registered you sitting there. His expression instantly changed, the crease of his mouth softening into a pleasant smile, his previously-dull blue eyes bright and sparkling. “Well, hello there. An addition?”
“Yeah, sorry I’m late,” you said. The waiter flashed a grin, white ivories shining under the fluorescents.
“Oh, absolutely no problem. They say those who are late are fashionable, and you, madam, certainly fit the bill,” the waiter said. Your eyes widened, glancing over to Nami to find her shaking her head, but the waiter didn’t stop there. “I’m Sanji. What can I get for you to drink? We’ve got a wide selection of fine wines that might suit your taste.”
“Oh, um—” you started, glancing at the rest of your crew again. Usopp was hiding his snicker, and Nami was giving you a tired look. Assumedly this had been the man who’d tried it on her, too—to unfortunate ends, probably, considering how Nami was. Not that this would be any more effective on you. Your eye was already captured by a particular green-haired swordsman, after all. “I don’t really have anything in mind.”
Sanji looked pleased about that, clasping his hands together around his platter. “Ah, let me guess, then. A bayberry or red currant wine, perhaps? Fruity, tart, full of flavor.” he winked. “A feisty drink for a feisty girl.”
“Can’t say I’ve tried it, but sure,” you said, the faintest smile on your lips. “I’ll let you know how I like it.”
Sanji grinned, looking rather satisfied with that, a delighted little smile on his lips. “One red currant wine, then. I’ll have it right out. And would you also like to order a meal, or…” He glanced over at Luffy, presumably referencing your captain’s more-than-outrageous order. “Are you all set?”
“I think we’re set, thanks,” you assured, and Sanji nodded. He flashed you another bright smile before turning on his heel back off to the kitchen.
Usopp finally let out the laughter he’d been keeping in, choked sounds emitting from his throat as he thudded his chest with a fist. You rolled your eyes, but it was good-natured, letting Usopp laugh.
“Well, at least I’m not being singled out,” Nami said with a sigh, and you exchanged a sympathetic glance with her. She patted your hand comfortingly, then scrutinized the water Sanji had gotten her. “At least he didn’t put it in a flute.”
“Zoro, you’ve got competition!” Usopp called, still laughing from the entire ordeal. You glanced to your side, to where the swordsman sat. Zoro had stiffened sometime during the conversation, jaw clenched and arms wound tightly across his chest. He hadn’t even touched the beer that Sanji had set in front of him, eyes fixed carefully to a spot beside Luffy’s head and refusing to look over at you.
“He’s a waiter,” Zoro said crisply. “He buses tables for a living.” With that, he grabbed his bottle, popping the tab and taking a swig.
“I don’t know, man, did you see the way he took down those pirates?” Usopp turned to you, all excited again. “Oh, you missed this whole thing! Two pirates were fighting over a seat or something, and Sanji just demolished both of them! You would’ve loved it.”
“He is a really good fighter,” Luffy agreed. Their words did nothing but seem to annoy Zoro further.
“Can we not talk about the restaurant personnel? Surely you can think of more interesting topics of conversation.” His tone was sharp, and all icy, and you inched your hand closer to his leg to tap his thigh in question. He glanced down at your touch, but didn’t deign to say anything else. He just picked up his beer again, nursing it while the rest of the crew continued on with their conversation.
Despite Luffy changing the subject, Zoro didn’t speak, and you kept peeking glances over at him in concern. Your feelings for him had just continued developing ever since Syrup Village, although neither of you had reasonably talked about the closet incident since it’d happened. What with the reveal of Kuro and the escape from the marines and all, there hadn’t exactly been time to. But you’d been on good terms, and the actions he made around you—pressing a hand to your waist as you moved past him, turning towards you first mid-conversation, shoving you down when the marines had fired their first cannon at the Going Merry.
Before you could whisper to him and question what his silence was about, though, Sanji reappeared, carrying two platters filled to the brim with plates. They were laden with different types of meat and vegetables, sauces glinting under the light and hot steam still billowing.
He set the dishes on the table, somehow managing to arrange them so they all fit on the countertop. Sanji set down the last plate then turned to you, placing a glass and a bottle of dark crimson wine on the table in front of you. He had to lean over Zoro to reach, and Zoro flinched, but still didn’t say anything as Sanji uncorked the bottle and poured you a glass.
“Tell me what you think,” he said, all smiles again. “I’ll be embarrassed if it isn’t to your liking.”
You picked the glass up, swirling it carefully inside the glass before leaning down into the cup to take in a full sniff. You tilted your head back to take a small sip, moving the liquid around your mouth to fully savor the flavor before finally swallowing. The wine was sweet, light rather than rich with a delicate tartness that burst on your tongue. You glanced up just to see a giant grin had stretched up Sanji’s mouth, brightening his face up considerably.
“What?” you asked.
“Not often do I see a patron who knows how to taste wine properly,” Sanji answered with a little duck of his head. “A lady of class, I see. How do you like it?”
“Not too strong. I like the tartness,” you answered. “A good recommendation. Thank you.”
Sanji gave you a little bow, hand flourishing to the side as he dipped his head. “I live to serve.”
“Yeah, well, why don’t you serve me another beer?” Zoro said abruptly. Usopp coughed, and you could see Nami elbow him out of your peripheral vision. Luffy just looked confused.
Sanji’s face fell almost immediately after Zoro had spoken, his eyes flickering away from yours. “Of course. I’ll be right back,” he said, a tight smile at his lips. He ducked out of the booth, and Zoro let out an irritated noise, tongue flicking against from the roof of his mouth.
Usopp snorted, fully this time, and you turned to glance over at him—he and Nami were both hiding their gazes, though you could see smiles cracked along their lips.
Zoro glared at them. “Shut it.”
“Not saying anything!” Usopp said, though he half-hid behind Luffy like Zoro was going to lunge over the table to get to him. That didn’t seem… entirely unlikely, actually; Zoro’s right hand rested firmly on the handle of one of his swords, fingers ready to pull the blade at any second. You watched him out of the corner of your eye, wanting to say something. But not in front of everyone else. It wouldn’t be appropriate, you decided.
Eventually your meal wound down to an end. Zoro got less and less tense throughout it, though you were fairly certain that was due to the drinks he was having rather than any actual reassurance. Sanji, thankfully, came back with the bill in the middle of a conversation you really didn’t want to think about—Luffy and his marine grandfather was not something your mind wanted to dwell on—only for him to disappear again.
Just moments later, a man with a braided mustache came storming out of the kitchen. Luffy did some more of his Luffy nonsense, and, honestly—you were getting too tired about all of this to pay any close attention. You spared a glance over at Zoro again. His face was as blank as ever.
“Okay,” Usopp said slowly, a few delayed seconds after who’d undoubtedly been the head chef yanked Luffy out of his seat. “I’m ready to check out whatever’s outside. Let’s go.”
“What about Luffy?” you asked, perplexed.
“He’ll find his way out of that,” Nami said with a sigh. She stood up, knocking back the rest of her drink. Since she wasn’t exactly wrong, you got up, glancing over your shoulder at the last of the group that remained seated. “Zoro?”
Zoro was staring into his now-empty bottle of beer. He still seemed off, the line of his mouth creased downwards, jaw set tight. “Yeah,” he said finally, standing to his full height and slipping out of the booth. He offered you a hand, helping you down from your seat, but said nothing more.
The four of you headed out to the mouth of the Baratie fish, which boasted a bar decorated with neon lights. You found a place to sit by the fish’s bottom lip, and you turned in your seat, staring out at the sea. The water was dark with the night, peaceful ripples moving across the water that sent shimmering waves across the blue.
“I’m gonna get a drink,” Usopp said. “Come, Nami?”
“Huh?” Nami glanced up, and you turned to watch the exchange. “Oh, I’m okay, Usopp. Thanks, though.”
“No,” Usopp insisted, a smile still pasted on his face as he jerked his head, not very discreetly, in your and Zoro’s direction. Nami seemed to realize, then, eyes going wide before she got up from her seat.
“Actually, on second thought, I’ll join you,” she said, far smoother than Usopp had been. “God knows you don’t have any money to pay for a drink.”
She breezed past him, ignoring the offended gape Usopp left in her wake before he was scrambling to follow her. You turned your attention towards Zoro—he was lounging in the seat across from you, one hand on his swords with his legs crossed. “Hi,” you said carefully.
He stiffened. “Hey.”
You pursed your lips, mulling over the ways to go about the conversation before ultimately deciding to spit it out. “What’s wrong?” At his raised brow, you were prompted to continue— “During dinner. You were acting weird.”
Zoro shook his head, dropping his gaze from yours. You could see the faintest trace of freckles spattered along his cheeks, the yellow glow from the lanterns reflecting off his skin. “Nothing’s wrong. Just… the waiter.”
“The waiter,” you repeated. Zoro shifted, legs uncrossing and hand tightening around his swords again. His voice was low the next time he spoke, and you could barely hear him, having to lean forward to catch all of his words.
“He was flirting with you.”
Your breath hitched, but you tried to keep your tone casual. “He was flirting with Nami too,” you said, glancing up to meet his eyes. Zoro still wouldn’t meet your gaze, staring out into the East Blue behind you.
“That’s different.” Zoro’s eyes finally lifted, long eyelashes casting shadows on his cheeks as you met eyes. You shivered, gooseflesh suddenly prickling up everywhere on your skin—the back of your neck, up your spine, down your arms and legs. “I don’t like Nami.”
You tilted your head to the side, meeting his gaze. The words sent a little rush through you; a rush you got practically every time Zoro looked in your direction, actually, which was only a little bit annoying. The amount of influence a man you’d known for, comparatively, not that long had over you had you rolling your eyes all the time, but… you trusted Zoro at this point, as uncooperative as he and Nami had been throughout your entire journey.
“You’re jealous of a waiter.”
“Don’t—” Zoro sighed. “Don’t put it like that.”
“But it’s true. You’re jealous of a waiter,” you said, unblinking. Zoro rolled his eyes, teeth resting along his lower lip in an almost-bite. You snickered, tone sloping upwards to become more teasing, almost sarcastic. “How the mighty have fallen. From me practically begging you to say I looked nice in a dress to this.”
“Okay, that’s enough,” Zoro said, uncrossing his legs to lean over and press his hand over your mouth. You laughed, surprised, as he leaned over you, eyes sparkling at the reaction. “Not another word.”
He removed his hand, giving you a look. You betrayed his trust almost immediately. “Of a waiter.”
“Do you want me to put the hand back?” Zoro threatened, but you were full-on laughing by now, and he couldn’t do anything but watch. The sounds escaped from your mouth, ringing out in soft, lively hiccups. He shook his head, hand falling to his side as he watched you, a ghost of a smile tugging up the side of his mouth.
“Sorry, Ro,” you said, unable to suppress your grin even as your laughter died off. “It’s a little funny, you have to admit.”
“I’d like to hear you talk if someone was flirting with me,” Zoro muttered, so quiet you could barely hear. You had to stifle another laugh.
“Okay, well, unlike you, I don’t get territorial over people I haven’t even talked about my relationship with, but I appreciate it.” You nudged him. “It’s kinda cute.”
Zoro seemed lost in the first half of your sentence, and you could practically see the cogs whirring in his head. For a moment, you were worried that the closet had been a one-time thing—but no, he’d mentioned just earlier that he liked you, so clearly something else was the matter.
Your worries were answered in just another moment. “...We’re supposed to talk about our relationship?”
“Zoro.” You gave him a look of disbelief, forced to suppress another laugh, though this time it was out of incredulity. “Yes. Have you ever dated anyone before?”
Zoro made a face at that. “Keeping that to myself, thanks.” He dropped his chin, glancing down at where you were, still leaning over you so you were forced to crane your neck to stare up at him. He tilted his head to the side. “So what kind of talking are we supposed to be doing?”
“You know, the establishment of being exclusive; a cementation of our feelings; what the relationship entails; where we want it to go…” You paused, watching as his eyes flickered down your face. Your words were going in one ear and out the other. “You’re not listening at all, huh.”
“Not really,” Zoro said, not sounding very apologetic about it. His free hand came to cup the underside of your jaw, tilting your head up just so. “Is the talking really that necessary?”
You shrugged, trying to keep your cool. “Eventually.”
“Eventually,” he repeated, stretching out the syllables of the word as he quoted you. “So we can do it another day.”
You bit the inside of your cheek to hide your smile. “What were you thinking?”
Zoro was slotting his lips over yours before you could say another word, his fingers digging into the hinge of your jaw to allow him better access. You smiled into the kiss, lips curling upwards and open to let him lick into your mouth.
It wasn’t too risqué, but Zoro took your breath away all the same, an appreciative murmur low in his throat as he kissed you. One of your hands wrapped around his wrist, tugging him insistently downwards so you could get a better angle at his mouth, sucking gently at his lower lip. He nearly stumbled, losing his center of gravity before steadying himself, one hand coming to rest on your ribcage as the kiss deepened.
“Guys!” Usopp’s voice came somewhere from the right, high-pitched and excessively scandalized. You felt Zoro scoff into your mouth.
“You realize you’re in public, right?” Nami deadpanned, plopping down in the seat next to you. You nudged Zoro’s head away, his hand still on your jaw, half-craned over your figure. Nami looked unimpressed, eyes flickering from Zoro to you and back again. “Get a room. Go back to the Going Merry for all I care.” She extended a hand, placing a mug of beer on the table before you before handing you a matching one. “I got you drinks. You’re welcome.”
“Thanks,” you said, leaning up to press one final kiss on Zoro’s lips before turning to take the glass Nami had outstretched. Usopp groaned, covering his eyes with one hand and lifting a giant cup of something with the other. It was so big you wondered how he’d even been able to carry it. You eyed him. “You’re going to pass out drinking that.”
Usopp made a face at you. You just laughed.
“Sorted out your issues with the waiter, then?” Nami asked, turning to fix a knowing look on Zoro. He rolled his eyes, effortless as ever as he settled back down into his seat.
“Still don’t like the waiter.”
“You’re ridiculous,” you said, and Zoro scoffed, picking up the mug Nami had gotten him. You could see the smile behind the glass rim, though, even as he clearly tried to hide it, and matched it with one of your own.
Zoro ducked his head to smile into his beer. Usopp made a gagging sound. “God,” Nami muttered, but their criticisms might as well have been deaf to your ears by then.
All you could see was Zoro.

likes, reblogs, and replies are always appreciated <3
“Guys, I am about to get so wasted.”
“We still have that good shit from Baratie, yeah?”
“Hiding in the back of the cellar, baby!” A loud smack rings out into the harbor as Usopp and Sanji’s hands clap together, deliriously excited after winning a scrimmage with a rival crew. Their proud vocalizations are added to by their captain and devolve into giddy skipping down the remainder of the dock as you make your way back to the ship. Zoro walks just ahead of you, glancing back every so often like he was worried you would collapse. You were planning to, but not now. Just get to the ship. Get to the ship and we’ll be fine.
“I vote Zoro for vomit duty tomorrow morning,” Nami mutters next to you, nudging your arm with her elbow. It’s a light touch but it feels like the world tilts sharply and you pray she can’t see the panic in your eyes when you try to remain upright. Despite her best efforts to remain mature and indifferent, her eyes were sparkling with self-assurance that you only saw from her when she felt a mission went well. She carries the folder of coveted Marine intelligence under one arm, her other hand holds up a bag of goodies you’d snatched from the base that would make good money down the line. “Plus, it gives us some time to take our share of this stuff. Nice finds, by the way. I’m impressed.”
“Thanks. I learned from the best,” you reply, relief flooding you when she turns back to watch her idiot crewmates and not further inspect the limp in your step. Zoro’s eyes meet yours over his shoulder and you give him a strained smile, well aware that you probably looked like you’d crawled out of hell. When he turns away again, you exhale with great difficulty, fighting off another wave of nausea that threatens to send you stumbling into the water. It’s just a flesh wound, you figure. No need to halt their celebration just because you got a silly cut. “What’s your first pick out of the bag?”
“There’s a pretty little jeweled chalice I was looking at,” she says casually. The waning afternoon sun makes her hair look like a fire, bright and warm. “We could scrape off the rubies and pawn them at the next island.”
“Or, you could drink water from it and look like a pompous asshole.” Just keep it casual. Be normal. The pulse in your ears becomes slightly faster when you notice the foggy spots in your vision. “Freeze some of the diamonds from that candlestick and use them as ice cubes.”
“Very true,” she laughs and you force out a chuckle to mirror her, wincing at the aching pain in your side. Her eyebrows furrow and her mouth falls into a frown. Your attempts to seem fine were starting to fall through. “Hey, are you okay? You’ve been walking a little slower than usual.”
“I’m fine, I promise. I just got punched in the gut a little harder than I anticipated,” you lie straight through your teeth, well aware that it wasn’t just a fist that had you losing enough blood to fill the galley sink. To be fair, the guy’s second blade appeared out of nowhere. You were outnumbered five to one but still held your own; only when there was a single fighter left did he resort to cutthroat tricks. One minute, you’re parrying with ease; the next, a small dagger pops out from the fighter’s left sleeve, cutting a deep wound into your side before you can block it with the saber in your right hand. It was a dirty move and you mentally kicked yourself for not anticipating foul play much sooner. To make matters worse, you were only able to staunch the blood so much before Zoro found you in the courtyard. Though you sufficiently covered your injury, he was still eyeing you like he knew that something was off. Like clockwork, every minute he was checking on you. It was wordless, but you still knew he was inspecting you, waiting for you to reveal that something happened and that you needed help.
That moment came the instant your boots met the wood of the deck.
In seconds, your vision violently careens to the right and you’re conscious just enough to expect the thud of your head against the floor. But, the crash never comes. When you fall, your mind registers another body that you fall into, strong and stable. One arm slips effortlessly under your exhausted legs, lifting you from the ground while the other supports your upper back. Your eyes blur the image of your panicked crew like an oil painting, smearing it every which way until the colors are bleeding together more uncontrollably than the blood dripping from your side. Everything sounds like you’re drowning, rising above the water for a moment only to be pulled back down into murky disorientation.
“Idiot,” a low voice says. It’s wrought with worry, even though you can tell they’re trying not to hide it. It’s clear enough that you know it’s coming from whoever is holding you. “Why the hell did you wait?” You’re barely able to distinguish far-off shouting from Sanji, ordering Luffy and Usopp to grab his knives. But, if all three of them were over there and Nami was throwing open cabinets looking for the med kit, that means the person holding you was… “Fuck. I knew something was wrong.” You have half the mind to articulate a weak response, but it comes out as nothing more than a groan when you’re placed onto what feels like the galley counter. The pounding in your forehead starts to become airy, like when you’re walking down the sidewalk after a night of drinking until you were on the verge of passing out. Zoro doesn’t let you go, though. His calloused fingers gently brush the dirt from your face, quietly pleading for you to stay with me, stay with me, stay with me. “You’re okay. We’re okay. Just stay with me.”
“They’re losing a lot of blood and I can’t find the damn med kit.”
“Where’s everyone else?”
“Above deck, having a collective panic attack.” Nami’s voice sounds like it’s coming from miles away.
“Figures.” Zoro’s, on the other hand, is the only thing keeping you rooted and stopping you from drifting off. It’s sharp and strained, nothing like you’d ever heard from him before. Sanji’s lanky steps enter the kitchen and you hear the zip of his knife bag somewhere close to your ear.
“This is bad; I need to stop that bleeding or they might–” Zoro’s grip on your hand is tight, physically holding you down to reality. Whether you laced your fingers in his or the other way around, you didn’t remember.
“Well, let’s fucking do something about it then, waiter,” is the last thing you hear before darkness wipes your vision.
Your eyes blink open after what feels like seconds, but the starry sky outside the window tells you it had been hours. It takes a moment for the details to come back to you, as does the soreness where they must have patched up your wound. The hard stone of the counter has been replaced by your bed and the comforting sway of the ship tells you Luffy ordered the ship to depart. It’s healing, in a way, the rocking back and forth motion of the ship that reminds you how close you were to slipping away. After a minute, you muster up enough energy to look at the rest of your room and you can’t help smiling when you see Zoro sitting at your bedside, tensely sleeping with the Wado Ichimonji laid across his lap. His eyes fly open when you whisper his name, delicately setting his blade on the floor before crouching at your side.
“You’re okay,” he breathes and it sounds more like a reassurance for himself than for you.
“I’m okay,” you confirm just as softly, threading your fingers between his and squeezing lightly. He squeezes back, looking at you like you painted the constellations outside your window. “How long have you been here?”
“Since Sanji and Nami fixed you up, about six hours ago.”
“You’ve been sitting there for six hours?”
“I would have sat longer. I’d wait for you, no matter how long you slept,” he says and it sounds like a vow. “You scared the shit out of me, you know that?”
“Sorry,” you apologize weakly, giving him as much of a shy smile as you could. He rolls his eyes in exasperation but can’t help the corner of his mouth quirking too. “I didn’t want to bother you all while you were celebrating.”
“You really think I’m going to give alcohol priority over you?”
“Depends on the alcohol,” you point out and he shakes his head at your teasing. Your hand fits in his like a puzzle piece and you’re struck by the overwhelming feeling of safety you have whenever Zoro’s around. “But, really. I’m sorry for worrying you.”
His eyes darted to the side like you’d said something that embarrassed him. The only thing he could think to do in that moment was bring your hand to his lips and press the lightest kiss to it. A promise that he’d always take care of you. He never was the best with words, you realized in your friendship-borderline-relationship with him. The things you said tended to short-circuit his brain and it was fascinating to watch him try and think of a coherent response. In times like these, however, when he’s simply unable to find the words for how much he feels for you, his actions are infinitely louder.
“You should go back to sleep. I’ll still be here when you wake up. Do you need anything before you rest? Water or blankets or something?”
“No, just you. If you got in here with me, I wouldn’t mind,” you suggest nonchalantly and you giggle when his face becomes pinker. He obliges, though, slipping into the covers with you and carefully pulling you into him until you’re pressed against his chest like your own personal heater. His breathing is slow and steady, but you swear you can hear his heartbeat racing. “You’re the only one I’ll ever need, I think.”

confessions of a swordsman
zoro x reader
summary: Zoro and you are in a thing - what kind of thing? Who knows but Sanji decides to flirt with you to get Zoro jealous.
The laundry line had been put up for the day, Nami and you were on folding duty. A blanket was laid out on the grass, and you sat comfortably folding clothes into piles for each crew member. Nami was taking clothes off the line and placing them in a basket. The two of you had an efficient process and admittedly were having a good time just chatting. The navigator finally pulled down the last article of clothing and joined you on the blanket. She started matching socks and asked what your plans were for the next island docking.
“I need some new clothes,” she sighed, holding up one of her shirts with a large hole in it. “I don’t even know how this happened.”
“I think we could all use some new clothes.” You held up one of Zoro’s shirts and stuck a finger through the tear at the neckline. Nami laughed when you wiggled a finger at her. “He hates picking out clothes though…I’ll probably just pick out a few things for him.”
Nami smirked. “Wow. Are you just so domesticated.”
“It’s not like that,” you shrugged, folding the shirt, and placing it in Zoro’s pile of clothes. Your eyes didn’t meet hers and that’s all she needed.
“Do you want it to be like that?”
“I’m just happy being on this ship and being by Luffy’s side.”
Your smile was bright and eager, but Nami saw through the feign contentment in your eyes, but she also knew there was truth to my statement. She said nothing else, but you weren’t foolish enough to not think anything of it. For one, you were sure it was obvious to all that Zoro had a place in your heart and maybe, you in his. Not that either of you would ever admit it out loud – whatever was going on between him and you were a mystery to you like everyone else. The swordsman had a one-track mind, and you knew that from the first time you met. In the beginning, the two of you had bonded over trying to keep Luffy alive. Real friendship bloomed through late night drinking and exchanging stories, triumphs, laughter. Then one night, when everyone else went to bed, he kissed you under the moonlight. His kiss was eager but insecure until you kissed him back. You slept together that night and most nights after that – whenever privacy allotted.
But he never called it what it was or could be or should be.
Neither did you.
Now it’s been months of this, and you were trying your best to not want him in ways he wasn’t willing to give. Not that you really knew what his willingness would amount to because you never talked about our relationship. It was confusing. But you also didn’t want to be the one that needed more, who craved more because it felt weak.
“All done.”
You smiled at Nami and divvyed up the piles to deliver the clean laundry. She left with her basket of clothes to take back to our dorms, and you made your way to the guy’s quarters. You knocked first but when no one answered you walked in; you were surprised to see Zoro napping but tiptoed around the room and placed each pile on different beds. When it came to the napping man’s pile of clothes, you moved to his portion of the wardrobe and placed them on a shelf. You nearly made it to the door when he called out your name and you turned.
“What’s up?”
“Come here,” he murmured, eyes hazy with sleep. He was on his back when you approached, and he quickly pulled you down to the bed. You fell on top of him, hands on his chest as he wrapped an arm effortlessly around your waist. His hand snaked around your neck and pulled you down, hair falling over his face. He grinned slightly and yanked you downwards for a kiss. Your body reacted in the way it always did when he touched you, and you wanted nothing more than to let him ruin you, but he kissed you hard once more and released you.
His eyes closed and then he started to snore.
You rolled your eyes and got off the bed, bringing his discarded blanket off the floor to cover him up. His hair was pushed back from his forehead, and you touched his cheek; his skin went warm and red, like he was blushing. He looked peaceful and you left him to his nap; needing something cold to drink to ease the heat of his lips on yours.
…
The kitchen smelled like baked fish and fresh bread; you sauntered toward the kitchen island and asked Sanji if he needed help. He refused but asked you to sit and keep him company, offering up a bread roll when you agreed. The roll was warm and buttery. You groaned and thanked the man, but going quiet as he worked around the stove.
“You’re awfully quiet over there. What did that idiot do to you?”
See, everyone knew.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Sanji smirked, lighting a cigarette. He pointed a spatula at you and said you were a bad liar. “You can do better, by the way, but I guess I can’t say I’m blind. Everyone can see the way you two look at each other – as sick as that makes me.”
His dramatics made you smile. “I don’t even know what us is. I mean, we all know how talkative Zoro is.”
The cook laughed with a shrug, deciding you could help, and motioned for you to come help with dicing. You got up and moved around next to him, he handed you a knife and instructed you on how to dice the green onions. You worked side by side for twenty minutes while he gave you advice on how to talk to Zoro – as much as that pained him. “He’s a competitive asshole. So, work with that.”
“How so?”
Sanji watched as you plated the salmon, nodding to the door just as it swung open from the deck. Your eyes went to Luffy who barged in with a smile and Zoro who had followed him, fresh from his nap. “Here, try this.”
The cook had grabbed you by the chin, turning your head gently to him. With his other hand, he spoon fed you a taste of the desert pudding and your cheeks went red. It was delicious but Sanji’s eyes weren’t on you – they were on Zoro’s, who was glaring from the doorway. You grabbed a hold of the spoon and Sanji released you, patting you lightly on the head before announcing that dinner was ready. Unable to even look at Zoro, you wiped your mouth with a kitchen cloth and helped Sanji serve the plates. After making sure everyone had a plate, you sat in the empty spot next to Zoro. He stiffed a little as you sat but then relaxed when you asked how his nap was. He smirked and just asked if you wanted some ale. The rest of the dinner went uneventful. The food was delicious, the drinks cold, and the conversations were lively. You offered to help Sanji with the dishes, but Zoro pointed it you already helped with dinner.
“Let the lazy cook do the dishes.”
Sanji retorted back with a curse but gave you a knowing smile. You stole a peek at Zoro and noted jealously in his eyes – Sanji was right, but you weren’t sure how much you wanted to push it. Instead, you asked Zoro if he wanted to come to the library with you. “I found that book we were talking about.”
“If Mosshead doesn’t want to enjoy literature with you, I’d be happy to after the dishes. We can light some candles, drink some wine…”
You looked over to the counter, where Sanji was arranging the dishes; his eyes were smoldering and kind, you wanted to laugh at his thoughtful attempts to help you, but the way Zoro was fuming next to you – it seemed like he was enjoying torturing his crew mate.
“Do the damn dishes, idiot.” Zoro grumbled, reaching for your hand. His large fingers around your wrist were surprising. He had never touched you in front of the others and everyone, but Brooke and Franky were around now. No one really paid attention or was trying not to, as Zoro pushed back in his chair and got up. His eyes narrowed down to you, but then a softness overcame his entire face, and he asked if you were done.
All you could manage was a nod.
Then he helped you up from your chair and led you out of the kitchen, towards the library. He didn’t say a word until you were in the library and then he dropped your hand. He moved toward the wall of books and spoke with his back to you.
“If something’s going on between the cook and you, just tell me. I can take it.”
His back tensed as he waited for you to answer him.
“You’re a real idiot.”
Zoro whipped around and cursed at you. “I’m not an idiot! You’re the one flirting with that – that – Euro trash!”
“I wasn’t flirting but even if I was, why do you care?” He seized at your question. “Well, why do you care, Zoro? We’ve never defined whatever this is.”
It was clear that he was flustered and angry, eyes burning with annoyance, but you stood your ground. All you wanted was to hear it from him; you knew Zoro was a man of action over words, but you needed this. Even if he said he didn’t want you, that he could do without you – at least he would have said it. He owed you that much.
“What the hell do you want from me?”
His voice was husked, desperate for reasoning.
“I love you.”
The words came fumbling out of your mouth with a huge relief to your body. It felt great, airing out your feelings and even if he couldn’t reciprocate, at least you said it. You stood there with the moonlight dancing through the windows and could only see Zoro lost in thought. Then, seconds later, he snapped out of it.
“Don’t move,” he seethed through his teeth before storming out of the library. You stood there in disbelief and for a moment, you were afraid that he wasn’t going to come back. That he was going to walk away from you and that would be the end of it. For a moment, you felt feign resolve; you’d get through it because you got through everything hard in your life.
Then his voice spoke from the library door and when you turned, he seemed more relaxed. He stared at you; hands crossed against his chest, cheeks a bit marooned. He looked proud and when you asked where he had gone, he smirked.
“I went to tell that cook to stay away from you.”
“You did?”
Zoro grinned, walking toward you with a bit of swagger. “I don’t need to confess anything to the rest of them or anyone, but you needed me to, so I did. I told them all that I loved you and for now on, we belong to each other.”
Your heart swayed as Zoro took your face in his hands, rubbing his thumb across your bottom lip. “Don’t play games with me. Just be straightforward, okay? If I catch anyone flirting with you again, I’m kicking their ass, got it?”
Wrapping your arms around his neck, you nodded. “I got it. I’m sorry.”
Zoro kissed you roughly on the lips, hand resting at the base of your neck. His kisses turned softer after a minute, and then he pulled away to hold you against him. You felt safe in his arms and relief washed over you, tears forming in your eyes. When he felt a wetness seeping through his shirt, he gently pushed you off him.
“Shit. I didn’t mean for you to cry.”
Panicked filled his voice but you just laughed, brushing away the tears; touching the side of Zoro’s face, you watched as he melted against your touch and smiled. “I’m just really happy.”
Zoro chuckled lightly, pulling you back to him. “Come here, you little crybaby.”

Hickeys From A Stranger
Monkey D. Luffy x reader.
No gender mentioned.
Warnings: Hickeys.
--------------------
Where did this guy come from? You thought, blushing madly. The guy as mentioned, had a Strawhat and was doing something very, disturbing.
"LUFFY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!" An orange haired girl yells running up hitting the guy.
"I'm so sorry! He's an idiot!" She says, bowing down.
"I, well, I guess I can see that." You answered, looking at the guy, stretching his tongue out to your hand. Nami grabs it and stops him.
"No, let me lick!" He whines. You retreat your hand and see Luffy, as is names seem to be. Once more stretch out his tongue towards you. Nami hits him and then looks at you with a weird expression.
"I'm Nami, and I'm sorry about him. Did you perhaps touch food or something, before this?" She asks.
"I did, I have baked cookies. Just some minutes ago and I haven't washed my hands yet." You explain. Nami frowns as she once again stopps Luffy from licking your hand.
"Why did we let you tag along?" Nami frowns. Sanji, her, and Luffy had come to this bakery, because Sanji had wanted to check it out. But he was talking to some waitress now. Luffy's stomach growls, and he once more reach out with his tounge.
"Fine." You let out, giving him your hand. The cookies was afterall not done yet. You feel your cheeks heat up as Luffy comes closer and then sucks on your hand!
"Okay, your going a bit over board." You say, trying to get your hand out of his mouth. Nami tries hitting Luffy again, but he stays still this time. Your whole body can't help but responding as Luffy bites slightly in your skin. A loud gasp his heard and loud stomps come forward. A guy with, curly eyebrows grab Luffy and tries to pull him off. After awhile of pulling and yelling, Luffy budges and finally free your hand.
"I'm so sorry, for my idiot captain." Sanji bows, as Nami is hitting Luffy.
"I think you're going overboard, I mean, it's a bit my fault too." I say reaching out to try and stop Nami. After all this guy has bruises on bruises. Nami stops and look at you.
"You sure?" She asks.
"I, yeah." You confirm, not wanting poor Luffy to get hit anymore. You walk over to the sink and wash your hand. And in the background, you hear a loud whine.
"No! It was so sweet."
"Here." You call out, throwing a bowl to him. In it is a little cookie dough left. Luffy's eyes sparkle and he puts it in his mouth and then gets it out completely clean. Looking down at your hand, you find bruise marks. Luffy had given you a lot of hickeys. And saying that it was embarrassing was an understatement.
"No, it's empty!" Luffy whines. As he examine the bowl.
"The actual cookies will be done soon, and I guess I can share some with you guys." You offer, giving a glance at the oven. In less then two seconds Luffy is before it staring at the inside. Nami and Sanji walks away, not wanting to spend time with their shitty captain anymore. Walking up, you examine Luffy as he stares.
"Did, did you like it that much?" You ask, catching his attention. He looks a at you and smiles widely.
"Their amazing!" He grins. But then his eyes sees your hand.
"Hmm, what happened to you're hand." He asks. You pulled it away a little. It only took some seconds and then he realized.
"Was it me?" He asks unsure. You nodd, to confirm, making Luffy frown.
"I'm sorry, if you want I can take you to our ships doctor." Luffy suggest, afterall you were extremly kind to him. Stopping Nami, and now offering cookies.
"There's no need," You blush, wondering if this guy even know about hickeys. You and Luffy start talking and he's enjoyable to speak with.
"Seems like their done." You state, taking them out of the oven. Luffy reaches out his hand to take one, but stopps mid air and looks for your approval. Giving him a nodd. He grins and take a bunch, burns himself, don't let go, puts them in his mouth and then swallows. Then Luffy runs around yelling about getting burnt.
It takes awhile, but at last Luffy can eat the cookies in peace. The rest, not so much. Afterall he chews, loudly. You just enjoy it, afterall it's your cookies.
"What a strange man, you're captain is." You smile, to Nami and Sanji.

love me again
OPLA!Sanji x F!Reader
taglist - @kabloswrld
summary - you were a waitress at the Baratie years before you joined Luffy's rag-tag crew. you shared one kiss with Sanji and when you return with them to the Baratie, you find the cook hasn't forgotten. and he wants more
warnings - was going for fluff but this turned out angstier and longer (i got carried away) than i thought. don't worry, it's still fluffy at the end though
a/n - please request more OPLA!Sanji, i am going insane. my favourite is Zoro (as i'm sure you guys have noticed) but i had a dream about this guy. help
"Are you really leaving?"
"I wish you'd come with."
"You know why I can't."
"I know..."
A brief silence settled over you both before gentle footsteps met your ears. When you looked up, he was right in front of you. Your breath hitched, the proximity causing butterflies to bloom in your stomach.
"This is what I've always wanted..."
"I know," he answered softly, "Look at me. It's okay."
You didn't want to look. If you looked at him, you'd be tempted to stay, just like you'd been for so long. Every time you tried to leave, one look from him made you stay. You'd been delaying following your dreams because of how much you'd miss the only man you'd ever loved.
"(Name)."
You slowly looked up, hesitantly. He was offering you a sad smile, obviously trying to be brave for your sake.
"Maybe our paths will cross again one day."
"I hope so," you replied quietly. "Don't forget about me now."
He chuckled, "Forget about you? Never." You raised an eyebrow, and he took your hands in his. "I promise. Let me prove it to you." And then he leaned in, connecting your lips.
How ironic, your first kiss was your last.
-
"Is it over?"
Usopp glanced over your shoulder at the far end of the ship, stepping out from behind you and sighing in relief when he saw you were not being chased by the Marines anymore.
You chuckled, leaning against the railing, "That was fun, actually."
"Fun?! You and I have very different ideas of fun..."
Nami snorted, agreeing with you, "And you have no idea of fun."
As the sharpshooter protested, you looked up at your captain, who was sitting on his favourite seat - Merry's figurehead. He was sniffing the air, looking both confused and curious.
"Something wrong, captain?"
"I smell food," was his reply.
You grinned at that, not taking him seriously. Luffy could smell food - more specifically, meat - from oceans away. Most likely, there was another pirate ship passing by where someone was cooking.
That's what the crew needed. A cook. You had worked at a restaurant before, but only as a waitress. You knew a little bit about cooking, but just the basics. Nothing fancy or exquisite. So it would be nice for the crew to have someone who could cook elaborate and tasty meals.
"What is that?" You heard Usopp ask, peering into the distance.
You turned to see what he was talking about, and immediately froze. Every vein and artery in your body turned to ice, blood running cold.
"What's a Baratie?"
Oh god. Before you could stop it, dizziness washed over you and you had to grip the railing for support. Well, you tried. You would have fallen overboard if it wasn't for Zoro, who caught you before you could.
"(Name)? What's wrong?" Nami asked worriedly as the swordsman led you to sit down.
There was no way. Absolutely no way. How could you have found your way back after all these years? You might have thought you were dreaming, but your journey thus far had yielded far worse surprises so you knew you weren't.
"I, um..." You didn't know where to begin. "I..."
None of the crew had ever seen you like this before. Even Zoro's eyebrows furrowed, confusion at your sudden timidness. You weren't known for being shy, quiet or easily flustered. You were loud, tough and one of their fiercest fighters. So what could possibly be reducing you to this?
It was even worse when the Going Merry docked at the pier. The familiar aroma and atmosphere of the Baratie hit you full force, and it was making your head spin - not in a good way.
"Usopp, help her!"
You felt a hand grab your arm, and another gently placed on your back, guiding you off the ship. You were so unsteady it was scaring your crew.
But maybe you shouldn't be worried. Maybe he wouldn't remember you. Maybe he really had forgotten, despite his promise not to. You had changed a lot, after all. You never forgot, but you knew him. His gravitation towards pretty girls might have left you in the dust in his mind.
Despite part of you hoping that would be the case, your stomach churned unpleasantly at the thought.
Sitting down at the table you and the others were escorted to helped put you at ease a little. As the others looked around in awe, Nami put a hand on your arm and met your eyes with concern shining in hers.
"Do you want to leave, (Name)?"
"No, no, I..." You took a deep breath. "I used to work here."
"What?" Nami's eyes widened.
"Cool!" Luffy exclaimed. "So you know people here?"
"I...do."
Nami was about to ask for a better explanation, that is until two guys at a table nearby started arguing and got up to physically fight. Another man approached them, and your heart almost stopped.
Sanji.
You ducked under the table quickly hoping he hadn't seen you. Staring at Zoro's swords was more appealing than facing your past right now.
"(Name)! What-"
You cut Nami off when you saw his legs moving towards your table, "Act like I'm not here! Hide me, please! I'll explain later, I promise. Just don't let him see me!"
"Don't worry, I don't bite," came the cook's familiar voice, sounding amused. "Your shy friend there can rest easy."
With a sigh, you slowly sat up and finally looked at the blond. Your eyes met, and his entire body went rigid. His smile faltered, and you quickly dropped your gaze to the table.
Zoro was first to break the silence, ordering for himself and soon Usopp and Luffy chimed in. You still hung your head, remaining silent as Sanji took their orders. He was so stunned by your return that his attempt at flirting with Nami failed miserably, earning snickers from the swordsman and sharpshooter.
"I need the bathroom," you muttered, escaping the table that suddenly seemed claustrophobic and rushing off.
Outside the Baratie, you tried to steady your breathing. You had not been ready for this at all. Your hands were shaking, your body trembling but not from the cold.
You cursed, running a hand through your hair. Trying to calm yourself down was not working at all. You didn't trust yourself to go back inside, to face both him and your crew again. Maybe you could get away with staying out here all night. You weren't that hungry anyway.
"Is it everything it's cracked up to be?"
Your body stiffened, and you refused to tear your eyes away from the Going Merry. This could not be happening.
"Is-is what everything it's cracked up to be?"
You tried to sound calm, collected, and like you were not internally freaking out. You failed significantly, your voice coming out a little higher in pitch than it normally did. The cook stepped up to stand next to you, and he smelled so familiar your body seemed to relax on its own. But your mind and heart were racing at a million miles per hour, the latter ready to burst out and make a run for it.
"Come on, one look and you decide to run away?" He teased. "Am I uglier than I used to be?"
"No, god no," you breathed out instantly, "I just..."
"I get it. It's been a while."
You nodded, slowly feeling calm settle in again, "Yeah. It has." You swallowed thickly and turned to look at him, trying to ignore how he made you feel butterflies all over again. "You're even more attractive, just by the way."
"Good to know," he replied smugly, "So are you."
God the butterflies were unbearable. You were starting to feel nauseous from your mixed emotions, and you weren't sure whether to run away again or pass out.
"I don't blame you, you know. For leaving." He sighed. "You were the braver one between us, setting off to follow your dream. I'm really glad you did, because you look great. Happy, even."
"Really?" You choked out a laugh. "What part of me right now screams happy?"
"Okay, maybe I'm just assuming that," he laughed too, "I saw what a good crew you have, so I thought that they were making you happy. Happier than you were here, anyway." He looked out at the water, glittering under the light of the moon.
"They do make me happy," you admitted, "But Sanji...I was happy here too. You always made sure of that. I just...I always wished I could have both. You and the sea. I never stopped thinking about you."
"Oh?" He turned to smile at you, "No roguish pirates stole your heart?"
"No, it was only ever a flirty cook."
The two of you shared a laugh, reminding you of when you were both younger and he would always try to make you laugh. It's why you'd fallen in love with him.
"i could say the same," he finally admitted, making your heart skip a beat. "This restaurant's seen many pretty women, but none of them have ever held a candle to you." A light blush, so light that you couldn't see it and he was glad, settled on his cheeks. "I saw you in every single one of them."
You gripped the railing hard, his words taking you off guard. They were the sweetest and most romantic words you'd ever heard, and you had to your best not to squeal and kick your feet like a teenage girl.
But you couldn't let yourself fall into this routine again. You were still a pirate, this was a temporary stop and you'd still leave again. And he'd stay, like he always did, like he did the first time you left.
The first tear that fell barely made a splash in the water.
'I'm gonna go," you gestured to the inside of the restaurant. "Before they wonder where I've gone."
And as he watched you walk away from him again, Sanji mentally kicked himself for not asking you to stay again. No, for not going with you. there was no way you'd stay after getting a taste of your dream.
It was just not meant to be.
-
The rest of the night you hid from him. Every time he would try and talk to you again, you made an excuse or every time you spotted him nearby you slunk into the crowd at the bar and disappeared from his view.
He found it cute how he could still fluster you so easily. Chuckling every time you not-so-discreetly hid behind a random person, he would give up and move away only to try again minutes later.
"You're hiding from me," he finally caught you at the bar, getting more drinks. There were only so many times you could avoid him.
"N-no," you stammered, blushing. "What gives you that idea?"
He raised an eyebrow, asking for a drink for himself, "Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you to stay. I already know that answer."
You bit your lip, taking a deep breath, "Kiss me again."
"What?" Surprisingly, he was taken aback by how forward you were about it. "(Name)-"
"Please," you begged, "Just once more. I have a feeling this time I really won't be coming back here. We're heading for the Grand Line, so...if this is the last time I'm going to see you, I want us to say goodbye with a kiss."
He was so conflicted. On one hand, he would never turn down an opportunity to kiss you. On the other...he would be setting himself - and you - up for heartbreak all over again. But if you were really going where you said you were...
His hands found your waist and tugged you to his body, his lips crashing against yours with the force of a heavy tide. He kissed you deeply, fervently, like it was your last day on earth. He kissed you like the world was ending, like he'd never get to kiss anyone ever again. Not that he'd want to, after this. Because you returned his passion, hand gripping his hair and one gripping his shirt. You kissed him so fiercely, it was truly a kiss to remember.
"Be careful," was all he could breathe out when you pulled apart for air.
"I will."
-
Then the fight with Arlong happened.
You felt a thousand different emotions course through you. Anger, for Mihawk and Arlong hurting Zoro and Luffy, and for Nami's betrayal. Hurt, for Nami not being the friend you thought she was. Sadness, for watching Zoro lay almost lifeless on the kitchen table as Zeff tended to his deep gash. Confusion, for how fast the night had gone wrong.
What had happened?
"He'll be okay."
You looked up at Sanji as he approached you, not noticing you were shaking until he reached out to touch your arm, trying to comfort you without getting too close.
You took a shaky breath, "Of course he will. He's the strongest person I know." You looked down again. "But he's never been hurt that badly before...And Nami's gone..." You buried your face in your hands. "Everything is so wrong right now."
Sanji was again conflicted, but he hated seeing you so torn up so he put aside his own feelings to pull you into his arms, comforting you silently with a hug. It was more soothing than anything you'd ever known, especially since it was coming from him. You had no idea how you'd cope with leaving him again, after all of this.
"Thanks," you smiled softly as you pulled away. "It was really nice to see you again." Your cheeks heat up at the memory of your shared kiss. "I'm gonna miss you even more now."
He just smiled tightly, putting his hands in his pockets, "Yeah, me too. I, uh, I should go help the old man clean up."
You nodded, watching him walk away. It hurt now, but it hurt even more knowing he would eventually move on since you wouldn't be back, and the thought of him with someone else crushed you. Little did you know, he was having the same dilemma, the idea of you with another man making him sick to his stomach.
But you'd both have to learn to live with it.
-
The next morning, Zoro was still in a coma but the four of you - him, you, Usopp and Luffy - were preparing to leave the Baratie. You offered to sit with Zoro as they prepped the Going Merry for departure, not sure you could see Sanji standing and watching you go.
"I really need you to wake up and knock some sense into me," you spoke to the comatose swordsman, wiping your teary eyes. "You're the only one who won't treat me like a fragile flower, even though I feel like it."
Before you could say more, however, Luffy joined you. He said his own piece to the swordsman, and the two of you sat there for a while before you decided to let him have a private moment with the green-haired man.
You walked to the kitchen, taking a seat and a deep breath.
"Hurts, doesn't it?" Usopp sat across from you. "I know how you feel."
"Oh, right," you remembered, "Yeah, it really sucks. I had to leave once before, but this time hurts even more."
Before Usopp could reply, Luffy was yelling for the two of you.
"(Name)! Usopp! Zoro's awake!"
The two of you exchanged looks before scrambling up and to the room, bright and relieved smiles crossing your faces when you saw the swordsman's open eyes.
"I can still knock some sense into you," he spoke, his voice thick and raspy. So was the chuckle that followed.
You laughed and rushed over to hug him, careful of his huge wound. His 'knock' turned out to be a light bonk on your head, making you laugh even more.
A little while later, he was up and about, but you made him sit down. You finally got the courage to come out as the ship was just about to be sent off, and in time to see a familiar cook walk on board with a bag hanging from his shoulder.
"Why are we bringing the waiter?" Zoro questioned, only for you to lightly smack his arm.
"I figured I could follow two dreams at once," Sanji started, moving closer with a warm smile, "Finding the All Blue and...you." He stopped just in front of you. "The old man gave me the push I needed."
You teared up again, this time out of joy, and smiled so brightly your face would hurt afterwards, "Welcome aboard."
Then you wrapped your arms around him and kissed him again, this time slower and sweeter since you would have many other opportunities to kiss him again now. Zoro groaned, but the two of you ignored him.
"Okay (Name), you can no longer relate to me," Usopp huffed.
That made you laugh, and you had to pull away from the kiss to do so. Even Sanji grinned, his hands finding your back and rubbing soothing circles onto it.
After a very emotional goodbye to Zeff, Sanji watched the Baratie fade into the distance before joining you at the front, wrapping his arms around you from behind and earning a smile from you. He matched it as he kissed your cheek.
"Now this feels right."
"Agreed."
"I can't wait to see what this adventure has in store for us."

knowing [3/8]
Summary: Sanji knew you were the one the moment he met you.
Pairing: Sanji x Reader
Warnings: None really. Normal One Piece stuff I guess.
Note: Chapter three whoooooo. I like how this one turned out.
[Ch. 1] ● [Ch. 2]
Having left Water Seven with Franky as a new addition and Usopp back in your crew, you all ended up finding a ghost ship and meeting a living skeleton named Brook. Luffy of course wanted him to join you all, despite most everyone being either terrified or concerned, it made you laugh and was the one time you agreed with Luffy, surprising Sanji more than anyone.
"Why not? Could be fun."
"He's not joining our crew!!" Zoro shouted at you which just made you stick your tongue out at him in return.
Arriving at Thriller Bark, you were starting to get a chill down your spine even as Nami, Usopp, and Chopper took the Mini Merry out, only to get lost it seemed and you all still on the Sunny being attacked by an invisible creature, whatever it was being weird enough to sniff at Robin and lick up your face, absolutely disgusting you. Sanji kicked whatever it was away, making sure you were all right before the rest of you left to explore Thriller Bark.
You stayed closer to Robin this time, getting even more concerned about the things going on when Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji disappeared.
Robin kept you near her even as you fought various zombies, eventually learning more about Brook and how he once knew the whale Laboon, who you'd met all the way back when you entered the Grand Line, then hearing you needed to return to Sunny, your missing crew members having been taken there after their shadows had been stolen. Your next mission being to get them back and rescue Nami from a creep that was trying to marry your best friend.
You and Sanji went to find and rescue Nami, him leaving her in your care since she'd been knocked out while he attempted to defeat the weird Absalom guy. She did wake and ended up beating Absalom on her own in the end, but it was the thought that counted (she did thank you later for saving her from some random creepy guy).
Eventually you ended up outside and Luffy, turned into a monster briefly by another pirate and her crew stuffing shadows into him, defeated Gecko Moria just in time for those who had lost their shadows to regain them. You wouldn't dare tell anyone how terrified you were seeing people starting to turn to ash from the light, especially Sanji of course.
The Warlord Bartholomew Kuma appearing and using his powers to knock the majority of you out was unexpected, as was seeing Sanji run off after Zoro once you'd all awakened, and you ran after him, just in time to see Zoro nearly on the ground and bleeding heavily.
Thankfully, with Chopper of course, Zoro had survived whatever had happened and was bandaged, awake after a couple days as you all prepared to leave Thriller Bark, Brook joining as your newest member and musician.
The night you left, Nami demanded a girl's night with you and Robin, mostly so she could get even more information about your relationship with Sanji out of you. You answered what you could for a while, before realizing how late it was getting, standing up from your place on the floor.
"I'm gonna go help Sanji if he needs it. I'll be back later."
"Take your time." Nami gave a grin while you smiled and left the women's bunks, hurrying off to the kitchen. Even with all the events of the last few days, now that your crew of ten was on their way to the next destination, you only wanted to be around Sanji and see if he needed anything. Brook joining meant more work to be done all over the place, your dear boyfriend probably would need help with any kitchen prep now.
Even though he denied it as soon as you showed up and offered your help.
"I can handle it, I promise!"
You pouted which made Sanji laugh, while you threw your arms around him in a hug that he returned.
"I don't want you to overwork yourself."
"I won't, I'm used to this. You forgot I worked in a restaurant?"
Shaking your head, you looked up at him, giving Sanji a smile. "I just want you to take care of yourself. If I can help in any way, I want to."
Sanji didn't say a thing, just unable to believe how lucky he was. You liked him so much, you wanted to make sure he didn't overdo it and had help to finish his work early enough to sleep. He had the second watch that night, but still, you wanted him to get some rest and take care of himself. You cared about his well being so much, even if it meant you had to wait to sleep or even do your own chores.
What a far cry from the life he knew as a child. Someone who truly cared and wanted to care for him in return for how he cared for them. What did he do to deserve you? What higher being did he impress enough to be so blessed with you in his life?
"I love you."
The words slipped out before he could stop them, your eyes going wide as you held onto his shirt a bit tighter. It took a moment for Sanji to even realize what he said, but your very quiet 'what' in response made his face turn red and he tried to push you away and apologize but you gripped even tighter.
"What…what did you say…?"
"I…nothing, sorry, I didn’t–"
"Say it again."
Blinking, Sanji's breath caught in his throat as he looked at you. Your face had a slight blush but you looked like you were going to cry, he wasn't sure why.
Had he freaked you out to the point of tears? Was it too soon for those words?
"I…I love you, [Y/N]."
Hearing it again, you just couldn’t help it and started crying, highly concerning Sanji as he started asking what was wrong, telling you that you didn't have to say it back if you didn't feel the same way, it was fine! He wouldn't stop loving you, you had to know that. He hoped he hadn't scared you and that this was too soon, he really didn't mean for those words to come out yet.
Damn it, of course it was late and in the kitchen of all places! Sanji had thought this through multiple times, thinking he'd get to take you on a real date somewhere and tell you those words, instead of them just tumbling out while in the kitchen. His hopes were dashed for that, you probably didn't even have those feelings for him yet. Of course he screwed it up, he really was a fail–
"I love you too!"
You hugged him even tighter and buried your face in his shirt, making Sanji tear up now as he held you closer. He couldn't believe it, you loved him back.
You loved him! He didn't want to cry, trying so hard to stop the tears, despite how happy he was about it.
He hadn't told you how much it meant to hear you say that, not that night. He wanted you to know about his childhood, but not then, another time would be better. He didn't want to ruin this special moment, and prayed that none of your crewmates would interrupt, especially once you leaned up to kiss him, saying another 'I love you' when you pulled away, which he returned.
Nothing was going to ruin that moment.
+!+
"Morning~"
"Morning." Nami took a sip from her coffee, giving you a look while you yawned and rubbed your eyes, taking the seat across from her and laying your head down on the table. Sanji gave you a smile and asked if there was anything you wanted, you replied that you'd take a coffee to start which he gladly provided you with. Nami watched the two of you, her knowing about your relationship obviously made the two of you more comfortable with her around; she smiled knowingly to herself as Sanji gave you the coffee you'd requested just as you like it, kissing the top of your head and making you smile sweetly at him before he returned to making breakfast for the crew. With Brook having joined, that meant more to be done, but Sanji didn't accept your offer to help this time, saying he'd have to get used to it. Nami looked between the two of you, as you watched Sanji work with your smile still on your face.
Oh, she had noticed you never came back to the girls' bunks the night before. You'd left at one point, you said, to see if Sanji needed help with the dishes or prepping for breakfast, telling her and Robin you'd be back but you never returned. After nearly an hour, Nami was close to going after you to make sure everything was all right, before Robin told her that she shouldn't interrupt the two of you. She didn't elaborate, but her smile made Nami think something more was going on that night. Robin didn't tell her a single thing, instead going on to bed and leaving Nami to wonder what on earth could have been taking you so long. She stayed up and tried to wait for you, a thought crossing her mind that she didn't want to entertain for the sheer weirdness of it, but the fact you never came back to your bed made her wonder if she was right so she chose to ask after watching you that morning.
"Did you guys have sex last night or something?"
You almost spit your coffee across the table while Sanji nearly cut himself before he turned to Nami in shock at her question.
"What?!" You both shouted, faces bright red at the thought.
Shrugging, Nami took another drink before continuing. "[Y/N] never came back to her bed last night, and you guys are being even sweeter to each other today…"
"Nami, that doesn't mean–"
"Oh, and you're wearing the hoodie Sanji had on too."
Your eyes widened and you sunk down in your seat, realizing she was right about that. You'd taken it that morning without thinking, almost leaving it before Sanji said you could keep it on, he thought you looked cute in it. You had no intention of giving it back, but even so, just you wearing his hoodie didn't mean you'd had sex.
"I…no! We…we didn't…absolutely not!"
Your face became an even darker red than it already was, Nami grinning like a devil and Sanji completely frozen behind you. He didn't even know how to react, never expecting Nami of all people to ask such a question! Robin, maybe, due to her Devil Fruit powers if she so chose to use them, but still! That was an awkward question for the two of you considering you had slept together but didn't have sex since you had followed Sanji to the crow's nest when he took over from Usopp.
Would Nami believe you though?
"N-Nami-swan," Sanji nervously smiled at her while you started to pull your hood over your face, the orange haired girl's grin never leaving, "We absolutely did not…um…"
"Have sex?"
"Y-yes! I mean, no! We didn't!"
"Mm-hm…"
She didn't believe a word of it. Not with your reaction and Sanji's nervous voice.
Nami was about to offer you her silence in the form of interest, but Luffy bursting in asking for breakfast was the reprieve you needed. You hoped and prayed no one asked why you were wearing Sanji’s hoodie, and luckily none of your crewmates seemed to care, besides Zoro who gave you a questioning look before you shook your head and he nodded in return.
You were absolutely going to hide that hoodie as soon as you were done with breakfast.
+!+
"You gotta run!! Don't let him touch you!"
Sanji held your wrist tightly, pulling you away from Bartholomew Kuma in Sabaody. He'd already used his powers to remove Zoro from the equation, you were fighting to not be in terrified tears as you tried to escape. Each of your crewmates disappeared one by one, Sanji was trying his damnedest to get you safe.
You tripped over debris, Sanji's hand losing his grip on you and his eyes widening as you tried to get up and reach for him, causing him to do the same as he ran back to you. His fears increased as Kuma stood over you and raised his hand.
"[Y/N]!"
"Sanj–"
He didn't get to you in time, you were gone in an instant, like everyone else.
Sanji opened his eyes to pink everywhere once again. He'd finally found a room he could slip into and hide away from the Newkama that were now chasing him day in and day out, attempting to force him into a dress while he fought for the 99 recipes he'd learned about from Ivankov.
He'd been woken again from the same dream, nightmare, he'd had the last several weeks. He knew he wasn't going to be able to keep Kuma from sending you away, but at the time he tried desperately to do so, out of fear that Kuma's attack was a deadly one. Now knowing it wasn't, he was relieved, but there was an intense feeling of guilt since he hadn't been able to protect you. He couldn't protect anyone, but the guilt of letting you be sent away was eating at him every night.
He hated feeling like it was his fault you were sent away, somewhere he wasn't, but even if he had protected you more, there was no guarantee you would have ended up in the same place.
Iva had noticed the guilt Sanji felt, somehow, just by watching him. Every now and then, he'd slip up a little and nearly cut himself while cooking, he'd almost burned his dinner the night before, and more than once under or over salted a dish. None of it was normal for Sanji, even Iva could see that.
"Ah, damn it."
Another knick on his finger was enough to make Iva speak up.
"You've nearly chopped off two of your fingers today alone, boy! What's got you in such a tizzy?"
Sanji stayed quiet while he bandaged up the cut he'd given himself, before turning back to his work with a shrug.
"I don't know…just…thinking, I guess."
"Anout something or maybe someone?"
He laughed a bit, nodding. "Yeah, someone…"
"I see, hee-haw! A special someone then?!"
"Honestly, the most special person in my life."
Sanji couldn't help himself, he just started talking about you and nothing else. Everything he loved about you, how long you'd been together, how you met, he told Iva everything while he continued to work on his meal for that day. He seemed so focused while he spoke about you, that it made Iva smile while he watched Sanji. The look on his face, his voice while he spoke, every bit of it and Iva just knew, but wanted confirmation from Sanji first.
"All right then, let me ask you a question, little lover boy."
+!+
"Wait he told you he loved you in the kitchen?!"
You laughed at the shocked face of the girl you were working with. You'd been lucky enough to land in a village for kunoichi, spending your time training and learning new techniques, while making friends with some of the younger girls. The one you were speaking with, Akane, was a few years younger than you, but she loved hearing your stories of the adventures you'd been.
She was mostly interested in your love story with Sanji when she heard you had a boyfriend, always asking for more stories about the two of you.
You thought it was cute, it was like being back home with your younger sisters and telling them all kinds of stories.
"Yeah, I know he didn't plan it, but that made it even better. Doesn't change my feelings for him, and I'm sure he was just relieved to hear I love him back."
Akane sniffled a little, but nodded. "That's actually kind of sweet then. I want a boyfriend…"
"You're seventeen! You'll find one!"
You laughed while Akane whined about the boys in her village being less than ideal, aside from one, and just listened to her. Truthfully you were glad you didn't have to deal with any of the boys in your home village, Sanji beat them all out by miles when you thought about the ones you knew.
"Hey, so, umm…"
"Mm-hm?"
Akane blushed a bit, looking away. "Do you think he's …you know…the one?"
You stopped sweeping the room you and Akane had been cleaning, thinking a bit, but not if Sanji was the one or not.
You already had your answer. The late night talks you two had whenever you stayed up with him, your walks through island towns to stock up when the Sunny docked, the small gifts he'd given you including your necklace. Every bit of it made you feel happy and safe when you thought about those moments. You two often talked about your possible future together, it always made you giggle a bit when Sanji blushed bright red at the thought of you two being married and having a family of your own.
But those moments were cute and special to you, so you knew your answer. You gave Akane a smile, shaking your head before you went back to work, noticing how her shoulders dropped a bit before you spoke again.
"No, I don't think he's the one. I know that he is."
"When did–"
"Honestly, I think I knew the moment we met, but it didn't hit me until recently. I can't wait to see him again."
+!+
"So, little lover boy, do you think she's the one?"
Stopping his movements, Sanji didn't really have to think about Iva's question. Speaking about you while he cooked came naturally now, it's what he'd done every day since you got together and not another person occupied his thoughts. Thoughts of you and him, together again once your crew reunited. Sanji thought maybe you should tell everyone when that happened, but also thought it might be better to wait at least until you all had visited Fishman Island finally.
His thoughts would often drift to potential futures with you. Would you get married? He hoped so. What would your children look like? Sanji wanted at least two with you, something you had agreed with the one time you briefly discussed it late at night. You made him blush when you grinned and said a little girl that looked like him would be amazing to have. Sanji in turn said a boy that was like you would be a dream, which made you blush just as red with a smile still on your face.
No one else had ever made him think of such a future, not a single woman he met while at Baratie nor anyone else since he'd met and gotten to know and fall in love with you. He was thankful to whatever higher being there was that he'd told you he loved you before you all were separated, and that you responded in kind. You'd basically stolen the hoodie he'd been wearing at the time but Sanji didn't mind, as long as you were happy.
Smiling to himself and returning to his work, Sanji nodded at Iva's question after a moment.
"I know she's the one. I have since the very moment I met her."

Cook For A Day! Luffy (OPLA)
Sanji gets sick and leaves y/n in charge of cooking duties. y/n is new to the crew and worries no one will like their cooking, unaware that Luffy will eat just about anything put in front of him. Luffy x Reader (Fluff)
Y/N
'y/n come here for a moment,' Sanji croaks, voice hoarse as you pass by his cabin and open the door.
Sanji knew it had to be you walking around the ship this early because no one else bothered to get up before sunrise, and since joining the crew only a month ago you were an early bird and liked to help Sanji in the kitchen because he also got up early.
'You sound awful Sanji, are you okay?' you ask, concerned.
Sanji coughs and you realise the cook is ill, 'I think I'm going to stay in bed today. Can you take over cooking duties for me?'
Your eyes widen at the request, 'Err, are you sure? I don't want to mess up your kitchen.'
Sanji tries to laugh but fails, 'You've watched me so I trust you. Now go get breakfast ready.'
You nod, 'Okay, but if it goes wrong I'm blaming you.'
'Shoo, now let me sleep...' Sanji mutters and yawns.
You quietly shut his door and take a deep breath. What if no one on the crew liked your cooking. They had such high expectations because Sanji was amazing. You wanted to be fully accepted so you couldn't mess things up.
Entering the kitchen your mind goes blank on what to cook. Do you play it safe and prepare something Sanji would make or experiment a little? You had a couple of hours before anyone else woke up so you had some time on your hands.
LUFFY
I was awoken by a very strange smell, it wasn't a bad smell, it just wasn't a smell I'd come across before. My stomach rumbled either way, and I knew Sanji had to be up cooking, with our new crew mate y/n helping him.
I sniff the air as I leave my quarters, the smell was coming from the kitchen and it smelt kind of spicy and warm. I passed by Sanji's room and hear snoring coming from the other side, so he was still asleep, which meant it had to be y/n in the kitchen.
y/n came from a town that I remembered having very nice food. A lot of spices and seasonings were used to flavour what could have easily been regular bland food.
Pushing open the door to the kitchen the smell of spices hit me full on, and y/n who was holding a pot yelps at my sudden appearance, but before the pot can hit the floor I stretch and catch it.
'You're up early captain,' y/n says nervously, avoiding eye contact and going back to cooking after I'd placed the pot back down.
My eyes widen seeing a lot of food on the counter in front of me, and my mouth watered merely looking at it, 'the smell woke me up, why is Sanji sleeping?'
y/n answers with their back turned to me, 'he's sick so asked me to cook. But as you can see I didn't know what to cook and now I feel like an idiot.'
I sit down and pull the nearest bowl towards me, it looks like regular porridge but has a slightly red colour, 'why did you cook so much?'
y/n's shoulders slump, 'because Sanji is an amazing cook and I want you guys to think I'm good too. I need to be useful.'
I dig into the porridge and see there was some kind of seasoning that made it both sweet and a little spicy, it would wake you up in the morning. Either way, it was delicious and I quickly finished the whole bowl and looked around the counter for my next meal.
'You're useful y/n,' I say between mouthfuls, 'people like you, you're very good at getting us out of trouble with your words. You're also good at fighting, and making delicious food.'
y/n spins around eyes wide, 'you like my cooking?'
I nod and pull a plate of cooked fish towards me, 'I like the spices and seasonings, I could eat this all day.'
y/n leans on the counter opposite me watching me stuff my face with a smile on their face. Usually by now, Sanji would have scolded me for eating while he was still cooking but y/n looked proud. y/n needed to try less hard to be liked because they were already accepted by the whole crew, but that would take time.
'I have a couple other dishes prepared if you'd like to try them, captain,' y/n suggests.
I continue to devour the plate in front of me and smirk, 'Keep them coming.'
This was the most talkative y/n had been the whole month. They were very easy to get along with and promised to bring any new dishes to me first. If y/n cooked more I might just get up earlier in the morning.

Redemption - Roronoa Zoro Imagine
Pairing: Roronoa Zoro x Reader
Spoilers for One Piece (?)
A/N: This is Part 2 for Betrayal, another Zoro imagine I wrote, so if you haven't read that I'd recommend you do that first.
Summary: After (Y/N) confessed to the Straw Hat Pirates that during their two year separation, she betrayed her boyfriend Zoro and had a child back on the island she was stranded on, she had to leave the group. But once her new home was under attack she had no other choice but to once again hope for the crew's help. Will they forgive her?
Part 3
Requests are closed
************************************************************************
Fire... smoke... screams...
She could see the clouds of smoke from miles away. Once she set foot on the island the first things that greeted her weren't the familiar smell of the autumn leaves or the sound of the market place but rather the smell of the burnt down huts and the pleas of the townspeople. Ever since Whitebeard's death two years ago pirates from all over the world set sail in search of the One Piece. It was exactly like after Gol D. Roger's execution all over again. But her little island? This wasn't where the One Piece was hidden. What these pirates wanted was merely to destroy, to pillage and to artificially drive up their bounty...
"We would never do that", the young woman thought to herself, "all our bounties were racked up for far better reasons. Luffy would never allow this" (Y/N) was well aware, that she herself was part of a notorious pirate crew - or rather she had been part of one until recently...
The realization hurt but she didn't have time to keep thinking about her misery. All that mattered right now was the little boy for whom she had given up everything. As fast as her feet would carry her she ran towards the edge of the forrest where the little cabin that she called her home stood.
She breathed a sigh of relief once she arrived and saw that the destruction of the village had not yet reached that part of the island. But she didn't plan to just sit by and wait for that to happen. The people on the island she called her home weren't fighters. If they were lucky there were a few handymen that knew how to handle tools and heavy machinery but that was about it. She knew that she could never take on those pirates on her own - even if she improved her strenght greatly in the span of those last two years. But she knew who could...
************************************************************************
"Are you sure you're okay?", she whispered, not wanting to get caught by the other Straw Hats.
"Pffft.. Never felt better", the swordsman dismissed her worries with a movement of his hand and continued undressing the woman that was lying underneath him. Calloused hands roaming her body, trying to take in as much of her as he could.
"But - But you should rest...", it became increasingly harder to string together coherrent sentences with the way Zoro was kissing down her chest.
"If you insist", with a swift movement he flipped them around and in an instant the witch was now on top her green-haired boyfriend, straddling him firmly.
She started laughing, "You know, that's not what I meant"
Not many people knew Zoro the way (Y/N) knew him. The other Straw Hats would probably describe him as a 'matter of fact' - guy. His playful side wasn't something he kept hidden - not at all. It's just that the stupid jokes were only funny when they left her lips.
"Hey, Zoro. Dinner's ready", Sanji's words pulled the swordsman out of his thoughts. Every since (Y/N)'s confession nobody on the ship acted normal around him anymore - well nobody except Luffy and Robin. Luffy was never the most delicate, which Zoro was grateful for and Robin probably knew that he just wanted to move on. Nami however didn't leave him alone, offered to speak, to be a shoulder to cry on. He appreciated her good intentions but he just wanted to repress the feelings, exercise and drink his pain away. But the thing that annoyed him the most was that shitty cook being so nauseatingly nice to him. Nami told Sanji that she would raise him hell if he even dared to think to start a fight with Zoro. But what she had achieved, was that the only little thing that the swordsman had left of his (Y/N) was now gone too. He remembered how amusing she found the fights he and curly-brows had - so much so that Zoro tried to initiate fights with the cook. But Sanji never took the bait no matter how hard he had to pull himself together. If Nami-swan wanted something from him, he would not disappoint.
************************************************************************
There she was, it was barely a week and a half since (Y/N) left the Thousand Sunny back on Sabaody but yet it felt like a lifetime. The witch took a few deep breaths before slowly making her way over to the ship. She was grateful that Robin told her that the crew would have to make a stop for supplies an island over before heading to Fish-Man Island. On her way over there, she had hoped that she didn't miss them, that they'd still be there and all the hoping seemed to have payed off. But the hardest challenge - convincing her former friends to help her after everything she put them trough - still lay ahead of her.
Much to her dismay the whole group was not only on the ship when she arrived, they were also in the middle of dinner.
"(Y/N), you came back!", Luffy's voice broke the silence. The girl realized that he genuinely sounded happy to see her. She wasn't quite sure if she felt happy that there was at least one person left on this ship that didn't hate her or sad because she had to tell him yet again, that she still wasn't coming back.
But before she (Y/N) could even attempt to say anything, Nami spoke up, "No, Luffy. She's not. What are you doing here?"
Her voice was cold - so much in fact, that (Y/N) needed two attempts to explain the reason for why she was there. Once she finally ended her plea for help there were a solid few seconds where nobody said a word. (Y/N) had mostly spoken to Luffy as the captain of the ship but she knew that it was really the navigator that she would have to convince to help her. She kept her eyes firmly trained on the Straw Hat anticipating his decision. She, of course, noticed Zoro's presence in the room - how could she not? - but right now all that mattered was that the crew agreed to help.
"Please, I wouldn't ask if I had any other choice...", (Y/N) added quietly after a few more seconds of silence.
"Of course, I'm coming to save you, (Y/N)-chan~", Sanji was the first one to speak up in his sing song voice with hearts in his eyes. For him it wasn't even a question at all. All he saw was a damsel in distress and he'd be the knight in shining armour to come and save the day. He could already picture himself as the hero of the battle and all the ladies clinging on to him to show their gratitude. It was Usopp that had to break the flirtatious cook out of his ramble with a slap on the back of his head.
"What are we even debating about? Of course, we're helping, guys! She's one of us", Chopper agreed. The ship's doctor was always a loyal soul. Chopper and (Y/N) both were outsiders before they met the Straw Hats so she knew how important his nakama were to him.
"No, Chopper. That's exactly the case! She's not. Not anymore", Nami objected, "she should've thought about that before betraying the whole crew. We can't always drop everything just because a former acquaintance happens to have a problem"
Nami liked to say that she was only upset for Zoro - and she really was. She knew that the mosshead was utterly in love with the other woman. She could tell from the way he would loosen up around her, she could tell by the way he would look after her to make sure nothing and nobody would ever upset or hurt her, she could tell by the way he was slightly - only slightly - less annoying when he was around her but the truth was also that Nami was hurt for herself too. (Y/N) was her friend, the first girl that joined the group before Robin finally made them a trio. They had talked about their plans and then (Y/N) just chose the domestic life over everything they had dreamed of?
"And what will you do the next time you'll be in trouble? We won't always be around to save the day", the red-head now spoke directly to (Y/N).
"I promise, I won't ever bother you again, but you haven't seen what I've seen. I'm not asking for myself..."
Of course, she wasn't asking for selfish reasons. Zoro knew that. (Y/N) always chastised him for being so stubborn. But the swordsman knew that she was honestly none the better. If he ever told her that, she'd never admit it but it was the truth. And so he also knew that (Y/N) was far to proud to come and ask them for help so soon after leaving the crew - well, except if she had no other choice. But it didn't really matter anyways, if she was in danger or even just in any type of discomfort, he'd always come and save her.
Zoro had heard enough, "We're helping"
It was the first time that (Y/N) looked at him since she entered the ship. She looked like a scared deer with how wide her eyes were. It was clear to him that she didn't expect him to stand up for her at all. Did she really think that lowly of him? Why did that thought sting? If Nami was anything to go by, he should hate her and helping her should be the last thing on his mind but he just couldn't help his feelings. This time it was Zoro that couldn't stand the tension, so he tore his eyes away from his ex-lover.
"Zoro, are you-", Nami seemed unsure.
"Either we all go or I'll go alone, I'm done talking about this", and with those words the swordsman stood up from the table and left the room. When he passed (Y/N) on the way out, he had to side-step as to not bump into her but just that act alone was the closest he's been to her in a long time.
"Guess, it's settled then", Luffy laughed, "(Y/N) lead the way!"
************************************************************************
Zoro and (Y/N) were lying on the deck of the Sunny at the moment talking about anything and eveything. Usually the mosshead would have a afternoon nap but instead (Y/N) and him decided spend some time together soaking up the last sunrays of the day.
"Is there anything else you want out of life?", (Y/N) asked her boyfriend, who had his head comfortable rested on her lap.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean... other than becoming the world's greatest swordsman?"
"No, why would I?"
"Well, you made that promise to a friend when you were a child. You're a man now. Isn't there anyhting else that you could wish for? In addition to being the best? I mean what happens once you reach your goal?"
Zoro was quiet for a moment, it was clear to (Y/N) that her lover had truly never ever considered there possibly being more.
"Well, what about you then?", he positioned himself so that he was now looking up at her.
"I guess, I'd like to be married someday", she answered nonchalantly.
"Why?", Zoro's voice dripped with confusion but there was also somehting else... judgement maybe?
"I don't know, I think I just like the thought of having that special bond with a person, you know? Belonging together, having each other's back...", she trailed off towards the end. She could feel her cheeks heat up. Talking about feelings was so much easier when drunk...
"Oi! Everything okay with you?", Zoro sounded amused, "you sound exactly like curly-brows"
"Why? Because I want to belong somewhere?", she was irritated by his reaction.
"Don't be so dramatic", the swordsman rolled his eyes, "you belong to the crew like all of us"
She wiggled her way out from underneath him not wanting him on her anymore.
"Do you really not understand how that's different? I just don't want to be just someone's girlfriend for the rest of my life", she was starting to get frustrated now.
"Just someone's girlfriend? And being someone's wife is better? What kind of goal is that?", (Y/N) could sense that Zoro was not taking her seriously at the moment, which made her even more furious. Unfortunately the witch was an angry-crier, so wasn't long before the tears started to fill her eyes. When he saw her reaction, he added, "Damn, you are so sensitive"
"And you are always so goddamn insensitive! Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall!", (Y/N) knew she shouldn't yell but the way he was talking down to her made her feel so helpless.
"I don´t want to talk to you anyways when you're being so difficult. I should've just taken a nap", he was annoyed by her behavior.
"Fine!", with that she stood up and walked away from her boyfriend but as she was walking inside the Sunny she turned around telling him, "and for your information, the are some things that Sanji actually gets very right, you know..."
She knew that indirectly comparing him to the cook would rub him the wrong way but she really couldn't resist.
"Oi, are you actually trying to start a fight or what?!", Zoro yelled after her, raising his voice for the first time the entire conversation.
Zoro mindlessly sat by the railing sharpening his katanas. Would things be different today had he acted a little more sensitive during their fight? Back then he didn't pay it anymore mind. In fact, he didn't think (Y/N) would've either. They had had far bigger fights - or so he thought - but guess it was more important to her than he anticipated. Maybe he wasn't enough for her... Was she really that unhappy?
"Hey...", Zoro was pulled from his thoughts by (Y/N) herself. It was the first time that she directly spoke to him since her confession on Sabaody, "I just wanted to thank you for speaking up back then. You really saved us"
Us... Zoro felt a sting in his chest. Of course, her new man and their son. Helping her wasn't even a question for him but the thought that she was in that situation to begin with made him angry. What kind of man doesn't protect his family?
"Don't mention it", he grunted, still not looking up from his blades.
"No, I mean it. If it wasn't for you I don't know what I'd do", Zoro couldn't help but notice that the way she was talking to him wasn't as familiar anymore almost like they were strangers. First the crew and now (Y/N) too. All this tiptoeing around made him sick - he wasn't used to being pitied and he didn't like it. One bit. He would almost have preferred it if she had just sad down with him and talked... normally?
As if she had read his mind, she asked him if she could sit with him for a moment. She took the shrug she got in returned as a 'yes' and sat down opposite from him.
"Zoro... I - I really never meant to hurt you", she continued. He wasn't sure if he wanted to have this conversation now but the alternative was her leaving again, so...
"It's my own fault. I should've known better", he answered.
"What? Why would you say that?", the woman opposite of him truly sounded upset with his statement. She was trying to catch his eye but he adjusted himself so that he was now facing the water.
"I wouldn't give you what you wanted. I was too occupied with my goal of becoming the strongest. All the training, the exercising...", he trailed off towards the end. "Logical consequences", he tried to sound unbothered.
The witch furrowed her brows, "No... No, no. Where is that coming from?"
"You told me you wanted to get married someday and I didn't take you seriously"
She remembered the fight but hadn't thought about for ages - especially because - in her mind - it wasn't so big of a deal. But then again, the swordsman also never heard what happened after the fight.
When Sanji entered the dining area the first thing he noticed was a sniffling (Y/N). With the speed of lightning he was kneeling in front of her, tracing soothing cirlces on one of her hands.
"(Y/N)-chan! What happened? Who hurt you?", the cook jumped up from his position on the floor.
"It's nothing, Sanji. Just a little fight", she wiped her tears away and tried to smile up at him.
"Was it that stupid Marimo? I'm going to break his face for making you cry", he was already halfway out of the room before the witch could even react.
"Sanji, no, please don't", she pleaded. Usually she'd be the last person to stop either one of them from starting a fight with the other but this time was different.
When the blond heard how desperate she sounded he stopped in his tracks, instead he turned around and started to prepare some tea for himself and the girl.
Once the tea was served, he sat down with her, so they could talk.
"It's silly...", she tried to dismiss the problem but Sanji wouldn't have it.
"How silly can it be if it makes you cry?", at the mention of her tears she swore there were distinct flames in his irises.
"It's just... Zoro and I were talking about our goals in life and when I told him I'd like to get married someday, he didn't seem to like the idea"
"How could anybody say 'no' to a proposal from you? I would marry you in an instant ~", where the witch had seen flames a moment ago, there were now hearts in his irises.
"Oh yeah? Sanji, no offense but you'd marry any woman that's not on the tree by three", she couldn't help but laugh, "But in fact, I wasn't proposing to him. We were fighting because he's just so... insensitive? You know, sometimes it's like only his thoughts and feelings are what make sense to him and so other thoughts and feelings are irrational and therefore not valid..."
"Stupid.. selfish.. douchebag.. mosshead..", Sanji was talking more to himself than to the girl sitting opposite of him, "why are you even putting up with him? You could easily find a better man that would cherish you and worship the ground you walk on"
The witch was sure the cook was talking about himself but let it slide for the moment.
"I love him", she shrugged, "what you don't understand is, that I'd rather have a thousand fights and never ever get married than to marry somebody else"
In that moment, the cook genuinely could feel how serious the girl was.
" - but don't tell him that. Otherwise, I'll never get him to tie the knot", she quickly added.
"I wouldn't dream of it", the blond confirmed.
"So, and now let's make dinner, yes? I'm starting to get hungry", (Y/N) was nudged Sanji in the side, a bright smile lighting up her face.
To further cheer her up, the cook promised to prepare the witch's favourite meal for dinner and (Y/N) was happy to help and spend some more time with her friend.
(Y/N) was in the midst of stirring one of the many pots, that were cooking on the stove - with Luffy as their captain a single dish would never be enough - when she heard Zoro's voice from outside the kitchen.
"Oi! (Y/N) come quick! There's something I want to show you"
The girl turned to the cook, who by the look of it was busy with adjusting the taste with seasoning so every dish was nothing short of perfect.
"Is it okay if I leave you to it now?", she smiled.
"Are you sure? The stupid marimo didn't even apologize"
"Positive", she shrugged, "I'm not angy anymore and I'm sure he isn't either. Why waste time being pissed at each other when you could also just spend the time that you have together being happy?"
And with that she skipped towards the door leading to the deck where her stubborn, stupid marimo headed boyfriend was already waiting for her. But just before she could leave the kitchen she made an abrupt stop, returned to where she left the cook standing and gave him a kiss on the cheek, which almost made the receiver levitate.
"Thank you, Sanji"
"Zoro, no... There's nothing you could've said or done differently that would've changed anything. I'm... so sorry", she hoped that this would convince him that it really wasn't a 'him-issue' and that he shouldn't give up on love all together, but he remained silence. When she realized that he wouldn't answer her she made a move to get up but just before she could leave Zoro spoke up.
"I don't hate you, you know?", it was the first time during their conversation that he had looked at her - really looked her in the face. She could see that he still loved her. He has always been bad at articulating his emotions but that was okay for her because she could always tell how he felt about her. He showed her. Two years of seperations didn't change that.
She didn't expect him to say anything now - least off all that. Of course, she felt glad to hear it but still she couldn't help but to feel guilty... like she didn't deserve forgiveness for all the pain she caused.
"I wouldn't blame you", she sat back down.
"I could never. Three days are one thing. Two years a whole nother", he shrugged, "Besides, Nami hates you enough for the both of us"
The witch sat there shocked but once she saw Zoro's smirk, she let out a relieved laugh.
"I think Nami hates me enough for the whole crew", she giggled.
The two of them started teasing each ofther and for a moment it felt like before. Before Sabaody, before (Y/N)'s confession, before their separation.
"By the way, I like your dress", the woman told Zoro with a deadpan look. It took a few moments for her words to register in his mind before he started yelling.
"Dress?! Are you blind, woman??"
When she saw how frustrated he was with her she couldn't hold back her giggles.
Their laughs could be heard all over the Sunny, much to the bewilderment of a certain navigator.
"Look at that! How could he be laughing with her like that after everything she put him through?", she turned to Robin.
"They love each other. Feelings don't change from one day to another"
"Well, for her they apparently did...", Nami retorted.
The older woman sent the red-head a knowing smile but chose to stay silent.
************************************************************************
The battle was in full effect and (Y/N) was in awe of how strong everybody has become over these last two years. Even the self-proclaimed coward trio of Usopp, Nami and Chopper did a lot of damage to the enemy crew. A lot of parts of town have been destroyed during the fight but the witch knew that this was the lesser of two evils and the townspeople would work together once everything was over to build it up again.
"They're like vermin!", Nami shouted. She was right. The pirates weren't strong - at least not compared to the Straw Hats - but they were many and they were everywhere.
"Doesn't matter. We're stronger", Ruffy laughed.
During the fight (Y/N) felt like she never left the crew, working together like a well maintained machine. For a moment she forgot about the struggles and that all of this would be only temporary - that they would leave once the threat was over - but then a loud explosion pulled her back to reality. A cloud of black and grey smoke rose up from just outside of town where the forrest began.
"My house!", the young witch shouted, "I need to go- I need- I-"
The others could see the genuine fear in her eyes as she was running towards where the flames were blazing up from afar.
"I'm coming with you", Zoro started to follow her.
The girl stopped in her tracks, "Wait, no you can't come"
"Why? Don't be ridiculous. You'll need help"
"Yes, but not from you", she her voice sounded urgent, "Sanji? Can't you come? Or Robin?"
"What the hell is wrong with you? You're wasting time!", the swordsman was getting angry. Why would she rather want the waiter's help before his? He could keep her safer that any body else on the crew but of course she had to be stubborn again.
"Both of you are wasting time. I'm coming", Robin interjected. Zoro tried to object but before he could both of the women already took off.
"What are you hiding, (Y/N)?", the older of the two asked.
"You'll see soon enough"
************************************************************************
Once the fight was over the forrest floor around the hut was littered with pirates. Neither (Y/N) nor Robin believed in taking prisoners. Fortunately, (Y/N)'s little house and garden were unscathed.
"How?", Robin was puzzled.
The younger woman sent her a bright smile, "That's Mim's doing"
"Mim?"
And so (Y/N) told her about her mentor. Mim was an older woman - an old hag to be specific - that took care of (Y/N) when she landed on her island two years ago. She was strict and a little grim but also extremely warm-hearted and as chance would have it, she was known as the island's sorceress. At first (Y/N) believed that it was only hearsay, like it had been in her home village, but she quickly realized that the old lady was an actual witch and better yet - she would teach her.
"I see. So, your mentor protected your home with a spell", Robin concluded as the both of them walked over to the little hut.
As they walked up to the door, an old woman and a little child came up to them. When Robin saw the little boy with the green hair and the outstreched arms, she quickly realized why (Y/N) was so against Zoro accompanying her.
"You need to tell him, (Y/N)"
"I can't, Robin. It wouldn't change a thing"
"You don't know that", she insisted.
But before (Y/N) could give an answer, they heard the voice a certain green-haired swordsman.
"What wouldn't change a thing?"
(Y/N) stiffened up. When Zoro saw the little boy in her arms his eyes immediately grew wide. The whole crew waited in anticipation.
It was the toddler that broke the silence with his babbling, signaling for his mother to be wanting to be let down. Once she set him down the little boy immediately started to wobble his way over to Chooper, where he promptly fell on his behind and happily started to wildy gesture around.
"Is that - ? Why did- ? When-?", Zoro was lost for words and so were the others. It was Nami that spoke up first.
"(Y/N)...", she walked over to the other girl and hugged her tight, "I'm so sorry"
"You didn't know", she assured the navigator, "to be honest? I probably would have reacted the same way". She sent her friend a half-smile.
"Ma-ma?", the toddler demanded his mother's attention, two fists full of Chopper's fur in both of his chubby hands.
"Ah. No, no. Leave the nice Tanuki alone, honey", she walked over to the little boy scooping him up in her arms again, ignoring the ship doctor's protests over the misidentification.
Zoro cleared his throat to get her attention back to him. As much as he enjoyed the moment of reconciliation, he still thought there was some things the two of them had to talk about.
Within seconds the mood switched yet again and all of a sudden everybody was reminded of the reality of the situation they were in.
"Maybe we should give those two a minute or two...", Robin suggested.
"Yeah", (Y/N) answered but didn't take her eyes off of Zoro, "Sanji, why don't you cook something nice for us? The fridge should be stocked...". Her suggestion was met with instant approval from their ever hungry captain.
Sanji just nodded, still not having processed the newly gained information. How could the marimo be a father??
Nami made grabby hands towards the Mini-Zoro in (Y/N)'s arms. Usually she was rather unimpressed with babies. But this was different. This baby belonged to her best friend and... Zoro.
"Come to aunty Nami", (Y/N) didn't hesitate for a moment to hand him over to the red-head. Had it been Luffy or Usopp she'd think twice but she trusted Nami to take care of her baby.
"I'll leave you two to it, so you can talk", the navigator continued, "What's the little man's name by the way?"
"Oh, I decided to name him Sanji", (Y/N) answered seriously.
"Excuse me?!", Zoro was shocked.
"Just joking! I'm sorry", she tried to calm the mosshead down. From behind her, she could see Usopp and Nami snickering behind their hands and Sanji nearly dying of heart palpitations. "It's Sora", she added quietly as the others left her and the swordsman alone.
"Is (Y/N) coming back now?", the witch heard Chopper ask somewhere in the background but she didn't have the mental capacity to think about anything but Zoro at the moment.
"Sora...", he repeated thoughtfully once they were alone, "Does he- does he have my name?"
(Y/N) felt anxious. Would he like that?
"Well...", she started but had to stop because she didn't know what to say, "I mean... yeah?"
"Roronoa Sora...", Zoro didn't know how to properly express his feelings in the moment. Hell - he didn't even know himself. But he knew that he liked the sound of that.
"Why didn't you say anything?", he asked her. It was almost like a plea.
"Would it have changed anything? I didn't want to burden you"
"Burden me?", he was in disbelief, "How could you ever burden me?"
"Don't you understand? I was alone on this island. All alone and I had to make a decision" she was getting emotional - for the first time since her confession. There were no more jokes and funny digs to mask how she really felt.
Zoro felt terrible, he knew how hard it was for her to feel isolated and then to go through something like this without any help? When they first got together he would've never thought that he'd ever grow so attached to the girl but it didn't take long for him to really fall madly and deeply in love with her. Sometimes he'd feel bad that couldn't really express how he truly felt for her but he promised himself he would do anything in his power to protect her. But he couldn't even do that.
"You had your goal... and... and... I never wanted to hold you back", (Y/N) couldn't stop the tears from falling anymore. Being separated from him was the worst feeling in the world but she would give up everything and more for him.
Zoro pulled her into his chest, holding her close and tucking her head underneath his chin. From the way hear hands would immediately grab at his robe, it was noticeable how much she missed his touch.
"I'm so sorry. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm sorry you felt like you had to lie", he hated that she felt like she had to protect him. The crew - especially Nami - had been so terrible to her, "I love you more than anything..."
She pulled back and looked up at him. Tears still streaming down her face. Even now, he couldn't help but to think how beautiful she was. And for the first time in over two years his lips met hers.
The kiss wasn't hungry or sensual. Zoro could taste the salt from her tears on her lips but it didn't bother him at all.
Once they broke apart she smiled up at him, "I've missed you"
************************************************************************
"Are you sure?", Nami shouted down from the Sunny.
"A pirate ship is no place for a child", (Y/N) answered back.
It's been a week since the fight. The townspeople were already in the process of building up what's been broken and it was time for the Straw Hats to move on. Of course, the offered the witch to join them again but nothing changed for her. She had to think about her son first and foremost - as much as she would miss life on the sea. Most of the crew already boarded the ship. It was only Zoro left on the beach with (Y/N) and their son.
"I guess it's goodbye then, huh?", the witch had a sad smile on her face.
"I promise it's not forever. As soon as Luffy is pirate king I'll come back for you... both of you", the mosshead still wasn't the most secure in his new role as a father but as long as he had (Y/N) he knew that it'd be alright.
(Y/N) went in for what would be the last hug for a long, long time, "Promise me you'll be safe. Who's gonna make you take care of yourself when I'm not there?", she smiled.
The two of them exchanged a few more kisses and 'I love you's before the crew told them it was time to depart. During the last hug, Sora, who was seated in his mothers arm reached, out and grabbed his father's cheek with a happy laugh. Zoro furrowed his brows for a moment but then quickly started grinning.
"And you keep an eye out for your mother, yes?"
The toddler babbled as if to confirm that he understood his father's order.
A loud sob disrupted the family moment. When they turned to the Sunny they saw the whole crew smiling down at them - much to the discomfort of Zoro, who was still not entirely at ease with PDA. It was Franky that the initial sob came from. The cyborg has always been prone to tears but on closer examination it was almost the whole crew that was at least a little teary-eyed. Everyone except Luffy, who had a puzzled look on his face.
"Oi, that baby looks like Zoro..."
That sentenced earned him a hefty slap at the back of the head from nami and a hearty laugh from (Y/N).
"I'm gonna miss you guys so much", she smiled through tears.
"We'll be back before you know it, (Y/N)-chan~", Sanji shouted down to her.
"Oi! Let my girlfriend alone! Nobody's gonna miss you", the swordsman, who had joined the others on the ship by now, yelled at the cook.
(Y/N) stayed on the beach listening to the two of them fight until they were too far away to make out the words anymore. Then she turned to the little mosshead in her arms.
"Guess, it's just us now huh? Roronoa Sora..."

Sanji fawning over male!y/n the same way he does with… Well, any woman ever.
I don’t see enough of male!y/n x sanji. I get that like his entire bit is that he likes girls but his backstory is just… SO QUEERCODED. Sorry if this is a little out of character, I haven’t seen very much of one piece yet! Reader and Sanji are both extremely awkward because i’m awkward. You tell me when this takes place because i genuinely could not tell you.
Sanji didn’t understand these feelings. Sure, okay, he’d felt them before - Plenty of times! But never- Not like this. You were different.
Mainly because you were a guy.
You were a new addition to the straw hats, a scrappy young man with seemingly no fears and a smile that could lure the stars out of the sky. Sanji had to hold himself back when he first saw you — your broad shoulders, the way your hair fell into your gorgeous eyes, the way your laugh was like a siren’s call... He caught himself staring at you more than once, His heart turning itself inside out in a familiar way that usually only happened when he saw a pretty girl. But here you were, Turning his world upside down without trying or even noticing.
He tried so hard to ignore it, to shove it down with all the rest of the things he refused to speak of, but it was like trying to ignore water in the desert. Every time you walked into the kitchen, every time your eyes met, every time you called his name… He’d catch himself blushing and looking away, only to find your eyes on him again, filled with an amusement that was somehow both endearing and infuriating. He figured you had to know what you were doing to him, there was no explanation! So, eventually, he goes to Nami for advice.
“HAH!” Nami’s laughter was loud and unrelenting like a summer storm. She leaned back on the ship’s railing, her head thrown back as she laughed into the air. “Sanji, Sanji,” she chuckled, “You’re so weird! You fall for every person with a pulse and two legs, and now you’re surprised because you’re into a guy?”
Sanji’s cheeks burned with embarrassment, his eyes flicking from side to side to ensure no one heard. The ship was mostly empty, the rest of the crew busy with their own tasks. Still, the thought of someone discovering his secret was akin to walking through a minefield - Especially you.
“It’s not like that!” He insisted.
Nami gave him a knowing look, her laughter softening. “Look, Sanji, we’ve all got our baggage, right? But that doesn’t mean we can’t learn to swim in new waters. Sometimes you just need to let go of the shore to find your way.”
Sanji sighed, and after a few moments of silence, he responded, “That’s surprisingly wise.”
Nami laughs again. “I got it from a magazine.”
Nami’s words stuck with him, and he tried his hardest to adapt. it was difficult, everything he’d ever heard from his father was telling him to force this down as hard as he could, but he’d spent so much time unlearning all that already.
He started with the little things. He’d always been courteous, of course, but now he found himself going out of his way to make sure you had whatever you needed. You noticed, of course, but you weren’t quite sure what to make of it. At first, you were annoyed at the special treatment, feeling like you were being treated like a damsel in distress, and you made sure to let him know you were very capable. But as the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, you found yourself looking forward to those little moments. The way he’d hover over your plate, ensuring every bite was just right, or how he’d listen to your food fantasies and whip them up without question.
Then, one fateful and very warm day, it happens. The two of you were in the kitchen - Sanji was rearranging the pots and you were escaping the sweltering heat, and he realizes that you’re in his way.
Without even thinking about it very much, his hands find a place on your waist and he pushes you out of the way, saying “Excuse me, i just need to-“
You don’t even hear the rest of his sentence, your heart is beating so fast and so loud in your ears. Suddenly, you feel very warm. After grabbing what he needed, Sanji turned to you.
“Sorry about that, Darling, but you were-“ He began to apologize, but cut himself off when he saw your face. his expression a mix of surprise and something else—something softer, something that made you feel uncomfortably fidgety.
“I- I think- I think I just heard Luffy calling for me- Gotta go!” You blurted out, turning on your heel and practically sprinting from the kitchen. Your heart was racing like a rabbit’s, and you couldn’t even think of what you’d just said. Did you really need to help Luffy? You weren’t even sure. But you needed space, you needed to get out of there before your heart exploded. You gripped onto a railing of the ship, your head spinning.
The rest of the day was a blur of half-hearted attempts to avoid Sanji, and every time you saw him, your stomach did a flip. He looked so conflicted, so torn, and you didn’t know what to do. What did it mean? Did he feel the same way? Or was it all just in your head? The doubt and confusion swirled around you like a tornado, threatening to sweep you away.
Sanji, on the other hand, had decided it was time to get some advice from someone who had actually been in a relationship before. So he approached Usopp, the only Straw Hat who had any real experience in that department. Usopp was busy sanding a piece of wood, a look of deep concentration on his face.
“Hey, Usopp. Got a minute?” Sanji asked, trying to sound casual.
Usopp looked up, his eyes lighting up at the interruption. “Sure thing, what’s up, Sanji?”
Sanji took a deep breath. “It’s about... relationships,” he started, his voice low and hesitant.
Usopp’s eyes widened, and he set down his sandpaper, leaning in closer. “Oho? Spill it, Sanji! Who’s the lucky girl?”
Sanji’s ears turned red. “Well, that’s the thing. It’s not a girl.”
The confusion on Usopp’s face was palpable. “But you’re Sanji. You love all the ladies! What do you mean it’s not a girl?”
“It’s one of the guys, Usopp!” Sanji blurted out, his voice a little too loud. He covered his mouth instinctively, and Usopp stood with a… mischievous grin on his face.
“Ah, so you’ve got a crush on Luffy, then?” Usopp teased, his eyes sparkling with mirth.
Sanji’s face flushed even redder. “What? No! That’s not it at all!”
“Then it’s gotta be Zoro. I’ve seen you two eyeing each other when you think no one’s looking,” Usopp said with a wink.
Sanji’s eyes widened. “No, it’s not Zoro! Disgusting!”
Usopp chuckled, obviously enjoying Sanji’s discomfort. “Alright, alright, but that doesn’t leave anyone else!” He stops. “Unless-“
Sanji’s grip on the rail tightens as he prepares for the worst.
Usopp places a hand on his chin. “I’m dating Kaya, so its not me, so it has to be…”
“Y/N?” He whispers to himself, and Sanji jumps in fear. He didn’t expect Usopp to actually guess correctly!
Usopp’s grin grew wider. “I knew it! You’ve had the hots for him since he first joined!”
Sanji glared at him, trying to keep his voice low. “It’s not like that! I just don’t know what to do!”
Usopp’s teasing demeanor dropped away, and he patted Sanji’s back. “Look, it’s not the end of the world, okay? I’ll help you out. Let’s start with the basics, like asking him out or something!”
Sanji’s heart skipped a beat. Asking you out? That was a whole new level of terrifying. But if it meant he could understand these feelings, maybe he’d agree.
Finally, as the sun dipped below the horizon and painted the sky with a fiery kiss, you found yourself sitting on the edge of the ship, your legs dangling over the side, watching the waves slap against the hull. It was there, in the quiet, that Sanji found you. He looked nervous, his usual cool and collected demeanor replaced with something raw and vulnerable.
“I need to talk to you, Darling,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
You turned your head to look at him, still sitting on the railing, heart hammering in your chest. His blue eyes were sincere and slightly teary, his hands clutching the railing as tightly as yours, his knuckles turning white.
“I- …I think I’m falling in love with you,” Sanji blurted out, his cheeks tinted pink.
The words hit you like a tidal wave, and you felt the world tilt. Before you could respond, your hands slipped, and your body lunged forward. For a moment, it felt likeyou were suspended in the air, the ocean beckoning below. Sanji’s reflexes were lightning-quick; he lunged forward and caught you, Grabbing your wrist with his hand and pulling you back onto the ship and into a tight hug.
You gasped, your heart racing even faster now. You didn’t know whether it was from fear or the sudden proximity of the man you’d been trying to avoid all day. His grip was firm, and you could feel the heat of his body through your shirt. For a brief second, you wondered if he’d noticed your racing pulse, the way your heart was practically galloping in your chest.
Sanji’s embrace was comforting, a stark contrast to the storm of emotions that whirled inside you.
“Please don’t say that,” you managed to murmur. “It isn’t funny.”
You looked up into his eyes, searching for any hint of doubt, any sign that he was joking, but all you saw was earnestness. You took a deep breath, trying to compose yourself.
"Sanji," you began, "I...I don't know what to say."
He swallowed hard, his eyes never leaving yours. "I know it's unexpected. I didn't mean to scare you."
"You didn't," you said, your voice shaking. "It's just...I don't know how to feel about this."
Sanji nodded, understanding in his eyes. "I get it. I've been fighting these feelings for a while now, but I can't ignore them anymore." He paused, taking a deep breath. "But if it's not something you feel, I'll back off. I just had to tell you."
The silence was deafening as you both sat there, the salty sea air mingling with the scent of the evening meal that Sanji had prepared, and the faint smell of cigarettes you’d come to associate with him. His grip on you didn't loosen, but it didn't feel as desperate anymore. It was like he was offering a lifeline in the storm, and you weren’t quite ready to let go.
You took another deep breath, feeling the warmth of his embrace seep into your bones.
"Sanji," you started, your voice barely audible over the lapping waves. "I think I might feel the same way."
Sanji's eyes widened in surprise, and you could see the hope flicker in them like a candle in the wind. You felt his grip tighten around you, but it was no longer about keeping you safe from the ocean. It was about holding on to something real, something he hadn't allowed himself to dream about.
"You do?" He whispered, his voice cracking with emotion.
You nodded, your heart racing. "I do," you murmured.
The air grew thick with anticipation, and your eyes locked onto his. Sanji leaned in, his eyes searching yours for any sign of hesitation, but all he saw was the truth reflected back at him. And then, just as the last sliver of sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the both of you, your lips met.
It was soft, tentative, like the first brush of a butterfly’s wing. Your heart pounded in your chest, the heat of his breath mingling with yours. Sanji’s lips felt foreign, yet surprisingly familiar.
“WOOHOO!” Usopp’s voice pierced the moment. Sanji pulled away and groaned.
“Are you two really spying on me?!” Sanji yelled, his face flushing an even deeper shade of red. Nami and Usopp emerged from their hiding spot, grinning like Cheshire cats.
“We just wanted to see how it went!” Nami giggled, slapping her hand over her mouth.
“Yeah, sorry about that, Sanji. Couldn’t resist watching the lovebirds in action!” Usopp chuckled, nudging Nami with his elbow.
You couldn’t help but laugh at their antics, the tension from earlier dissipating like the last remnants of the day’s heat.
Once they’d left, Sanji turned back to you, his expression earnest. “I’m sorry about them. They’ve been...helping me figure out my feelings, and they get a bit carried away. I never wanted to make you feel uncomfortable, Darling.”
You chuckled, feeling your own cheeks warm up. “It’s alright. Really, Sanji, Its okay.”
Sanji looked at you with a mix of embarrassment and sincerity. “I know I’ve been acting strange. I’ve never felt like this about… someone like you before, and I didn’t know how to handle it. I talked to them because...because I didn’t know what else to do. I didn’t want to mess things up.”
You reached out and took his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. You didn’t know what would happen next, but it didn’t matter.

Welcome To Th- Oh Shit… Part 1
A/N: I’ve been thinking about this particular idea for a while now. I hope you enjoy it, my little chalupas(if this does well, I’ll make a part 2)💚💜
As the Going Merry docked in the ship yard of the BARATIE the eccentric captain was out of his mind excited at the promise of food, the ostentatious navigator and the protective swordsman were trying to figure out why their captain could all of the sudden could navigate, and the ‘ferocious’ sharp-shooter was trying to calm down his best friend. The best friend being the introverted healer.
The healer was protesting and swinging at her best friend to let her go and trying to tell the bow in the straw hat that they should leave and forget about this place. Unfortunately for the girl, the captain had no such plans.
“Cap, c’mon, we have to go. This place,” the healer vaguely indicates to the fish structure, “is not all that it seems. Trust me, c’mon, man. I mean it really, let’s just go.”
Luffy looked at the girl incuriously, “why would we pass up food. I’m starving.” The boy captain called out to the navigator, “Nami! You almost done?”
The orange haired navigator gave an unenthusiastic thumbs up and said, “all good to go!”
“All eight, come on you big baby,” Usopp said, practically dragging his best friend I got he restaurant.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inside the fish-like restaurant, the atmosphere is lively as the Straw Har Crew settles in. Th e/c woman looks a little nervous sitting ther, but stills plays nonchalant as her friends take there seats, or in Zoro’a case; struggle to sit.
“Having trouble there, oh so fearsome pirate hunter,” the healer mocks the green-haired swordsman. Zoro gives her an unimpressed look,”shut up.”
The h/c woman chuckles to herself as she looks about until a golden haired waiter came up to the group, her eyes widening.
“Hi. Welcome to our shitty restaurant, where the only thing worse than the ambiance is the food. My name is Sanji. What can I get for you,” the golden-haired waiter asks, clearly annoyed and not noticing the two women yet.
The h/c woman clearly looks like she wants to die at the moment as the moss colored haired man looks at her with a questioning look.
The curly haired captain answers with his mouth still stuffed with bread. “One of everything, please!”
Sanji looks over at him, still clearly not impressed, “Anything to drink? One of our signature cocktails, to help you choke down your meal?”
As the blue-eyes waiter finished the h/c woman—clearly with more gained confidence—says, “I see your service still hasn’t changed, Sanji. Evey time Zeff decides to kick off the line, huh? Surprised he still even let’s you out here with how many women you flirt with.” Y/N said the last part more quiet, almost inaudible, but Sanji heard, he always heard.
The golden-haired waiter’s eyes widened at the sight of the woman and said, “and here I thought that I would never see you again, madame.” The next words that come out of his mouth are clearly meant full-heatedly, but come out a little tense. “Lovely to see you again, Y/N.”
“Cut the shit-“
Everyone at the table can tell the tension between the two, all them looking at each other questioningly. Bit the captain seemed confused to see the introverted woman so feisty towards the charming waiter.
The swordsman decided to help his friend and cut her off by saying, “waiter, can I get a beer for me and something for my friends,” he asked nodding over to the rest of the crew.
Usopp weighed in swiftly with his order, “two beers. I usually have three, but-“
The sharp-shooter was interrupted by the boy with straw hat, “and a milk!”
“Three beers and a milk. And uh, for the madame,” Sanji questions with a charming smile towards the orange-haired navigator.
Nami looks at him with a blink and an unimpressed voice, sensing her friends some-what dislike towards the guy, “water.”
Sanji keeps his award winning smile on his face as he asks, “still, sparkling, mineral? With ice or without? Cubed or crushed?”
Y/N scoffs, with a hard-look, her heart aching, “figures.”
Nami looks between the two before answering with a solemn voice and sort-of questioning voice, “regular water; in a regular glass, thanks.”
The flirtatious waiter then turns to the clearly aching girl with a love-stricken gaze(clearly only able to be told by the two) and say, “and for the one and only? Usual?”
The healer looks from Sanji’a eyes, to the ceiling, purses her lips and looks back to Sanji. “Actually, no. Bourbon. Double.”
“Ah, changing it up, are we, beautiful madame? Tell me, why would the missus change it up after all this time. Anyway, coming right up,” the flirtatious waiter says while leaving the crew.
Usopp blows out a big breath of air, puffing out his cheeks as everyone looks to the e/c girl. Nami, being the only one brave enough, asks, “what was that about? How do you know that guy?”
Y/N looks to where Sanji entered, and says with a small voice, without meeting her crew’s gaze and says, “that, my friend is my ex-husband. Who I am most definitely still in love with.”
The entirety of the crew looks at the woman with wide eyes and screech out—all in sink, “WHAT!?”
A/N: I definitely don’t know how to feel about this one, so please let me know how it was in the comments or olease DM me(or whatever you call it). I don’t know if this was a good one and this was my first time writing for Sanji after drooling over him for weeks. I really hope you guys liked it, and if you did please like or reblog. I live toy my little chalupas💚💜
Can I request cheek kisses with Luffy, but like platonic? Like, they aren’t biological related, but they act a lot like sibling and give each other platonic cheek kisses?
Author's not : this is such a cute idea!hope you like it!
You'll always be my best friend
Monkey d.Luffy x platonic!reader
Summary : you always wished for a sibling growing up,but when you grow up with Luffy by your side and later join his crew,you understand you always had a brother by your side.
Warnings : absolutely none!,platonic reader and Luffy,friends who act like siblings , childhood friends
*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘˚˳°*.✧∘
When you hear Nami's shout from behind you,you and Luffy share a mischief glance before starting to run for your lives.
You knew Luffy since you were young.
Ever since you remember,you always wanted a sibling. Someone you could play with and do adventures alongside. So when you met Luffy one day,up on a three munching on fruits,you particularly became attached at hips.
Luffy dreamed big,ever since your childhood days. He dreamed of becoming the pirate king;of becoming someone worthy of Shanks' crew. And when he shared that dream with you under a blanket in your hiding spot inside Shank's ship,you knew you would live by his side and help him achieve that dream.
"Luffy!y/n!! I swear to god when i catch you two -!"
Luffy laughs by your side and as you fist bump him,you jump behind Sanji to protect yourselves from a very angry Nami. Sanji balances a tray of drinks in his hands with practice and lets out a small yelp. He sighs in relief when the glass dont fall down and break,and looks from you two to Nami and up to Nami's hair.
"What the-"
"they colored my hair!"
There's the sound of another pair of footsteps as Zoro climbs up the stairs;having woke up from his nap by the commotion.
"whats all the yelling abou-Whoa."
And when Usopp pops his head from between the doors,his mouth hangs open.
"i knew you and Zoro were related!!"
"Shut up,Usopp!!" Nami combs his now green hair with frustrated fingers and suddenly she's taking out a small pocket knife.
"I'm going to kill you two."
Sanji holds up his tray of drinks and steps backwards slightly.
"now now,no need for violence, Madame."
"step back if you dont wanna get killed either."
You look toward at Luffy from behind Sanji's strong form and giggle.
"she looks just like Zoro!"
"i know right?!your plan was brilliant!!"
"uh,guys," Sanji whisper/yells, "i suggest you two start running."
And when Nami lunged forward,you two jump and run for your lives.
Its a while before the two of you can hide from Nami. You try to sit comfortably behind the many supply boxes and grin when Luffy offers you half a tangerine. You much on the juicy fruit, groaning upon the sweet taste and look at the young boy sitting comfortably beside you.
"it was fun. But i think we're in danger for a few days."
"yeah. I think Nami's gonna kill us in our sleep."
The thought of Nami's green hair has you two stifling your giggles again. Luffy leans in,and presses his sticky-tangerine lips to your cheek,making you squeal while giggling loudly.
"dude!!you got tangerine juice all over me!"
And when Luffy laughs loudly,you jump on him and push him back on the floor,so while wrestling,try to kiss his cheeks to make them sticky as well.
The two of you fall asleep together like that.
Just like your childhood days,where the safest place was in Luffy's brother like embrace.
P2
The streets were busy in the market as you walked behind Sanji, your baby girl in his arms showing her all the food they had to offer while Zoro held the shopping, Kuina was getting a little fussy in her Daddy's arms while he tried to pay for something so he bounced her a little to clam her down "Shhhh, it's ok my angel" he smiled down at her the lady behind the stall smiling at him "Oh she's so cute" the lady couldn't help but say as Zoro takes the bag. "Thank you, it's all thanks to this lovely lady" Sanji smiles at you as you walk over and take the 8-month-old form him "She's tired, I'll take her back, you guys keep going" you whisper as Kuina starts crying a little "Are you sure? We can head back early" Sanji brushes his hand over your cheek feeling bad about leaving you "No we don't have nearly enough for our Captain" you laugh as Zoro joins you two kissing the little girl on the head "I'll nap with you later baby girl" he whispers to the now sleeping baby in your arms before looking up at you "see you later baby" he leans in placing his lips on yours and you gladly kiss back. Sanji smiles at you two before looking down at his baby girl, she's so beautiful in his eyes, that blonde soft hair, her beautiful flawless skin, her cute button nose. "Sanji" you finally manage to get his attention snapping him out of his thoughts "Sorry love" he smiles a little embarrassed but leans in and kisses you "we'll see you back on the ship" Your cook pulls away pushing some hair out of your face before letting you go.
You hummed slightly while you held Kuina to your chest keeping her up right as she slept, the knitted blanket that Reiju sent was around her keeping her warm. You were thankful to Reiju for sending something, it made Sanji so happy that at least one of his family members cared about him and the baby. You stop humming when you feel something next to you only to look and see no one there, it makes the hair on your neck stand up. Kuina steers in your arms and as you look down to readjust her your kicked in the side, holding onto your daughter you tumble across the ground and hit a brick wall with your back as three figures approach you. Catching your breath you stick out your arm out about to make fangs with your fingers to release the snake on your arm when something pierces through your hand pinning it to the wall. Kuina cry's out as you scream in pain only to be kneed in the head, a serge of electricity runs through your body causing immense pain. As it stops you pant still feeling the sting but You try to stay contuse holding onto your daughter tight as not to drop her but everything start to fading and turn blurry "Really that didn't do it?" a male voice laughs, one that you recognize but you can't put your finger on it. "That's ok it just means she can take it" another man laughs as the sound of knuckles cracking gets closer, pain hits your face and everything goes black.
The sound of crying hits your ears and you can tell she needs you so you try and sit up still feeling groggy "I'm coming baby" you groan as pain starts washing over your body, you can't seem to sit up and your hands and legs seem to be pinned down while you lay on your back "Finally awake, it's about time" a male voice comes form over you, memories come back of what happened and you start to panic, your heart races as your vision comes back to see a man with red hair and sun glasses squatting over your hips, you know that face but what the hell is Ichiji doing here. You look over to where the cryings coming form to see a man with blue hair and goggle holding your baby girl in his arms, the blanket still around her, but he's holding her too tight "Niji" you manage to get out the man raising an eyebrow at you "please, your holding her too tight" you try to move but the red spikes in your hands and legs stop you form doing so, you also can't close your hand enough to make fangs to let your snakes out. The three man start laughing Ichiji stepping aside with a cocky grin but the man with green hair and head phones, Yonji walks up to you and knees down near your head "Do you think we came here to say hello?" Yonji asks with a glare as the other two stop laughing.
A tear falls down your cheek fearing what their going to do, you've seen how cruel they could be, and they didn't seem to care who they hurt. "Please" you beg making Yonji smile over you "Farther isn't happy, Born out of wedlock and born from a good for nothing" Yonji spits at you before standing and kicking you in the side, you scream out in pain as the other two laughs, Niji walks over handing you baby off to Ichiji and steps on your stomach digging it in "That's it scream, no one can hear you here" he laughs while you struggle to try to get out of the red spikes "Please don't... please don't hurt her" you cry out tears clouding your vision as you look at your baby girl. Niji growls down at you before kicking down on your leg and sending blue electricity through your body making you scream louder in pain, Kuina cry's get louder at hearing her mother in pain. Once he stops you pant trying to catch your breath as your muscles twitch form the shock.
As Ichiji holds the baby up in the air he growls annoyed at the crying "Will you shut that fucking thing up" Niji yells still standing next to you as Yonji walks over to the baby "Please... please" you yell out trying to get up only for Niji's boot to connect with your chest but you still cry out begging them not to hurt your daughter. "Give it here" Yonji takes Kuina out of his brothers arms and walks over to you kneeling down to you. "I have to admit, she's pretty... like her mother" he smiles looking you over before looking back at the baby with a scowl "Too bad she has his stupid eyebrows and hair, what's her name?" He asks making his brothers raise an eyebrow at him "K-Kuina, she's only 8 months please don't hurt her" you beg looking up at the green haired man. "Stupid name too" Niji laughs before kicking you in the side again, you hold back a yell as to not scare your daughter since she's so close it makes Niji more angry though and slams his foot back down on your stomach which makes you spit up blood. As you try and get your breath back Yonji runs a hand over your cut cheek "Why would you go for someone like him? You could have had any one of us... with being so pretty" he smiles down at you.
Ichiji walks over and places a hand on his green brothers shoulder "Come on man, she's damaged goods" the red haired man sighs watching his brother stand up "Yea your right, she's also used goods" he laughs as his brothers join in "Used by a good for nothing... i bet his daughter will turn out the same" Niji laughs holding his stomach. You grit your teeth, anger filling your body, you try to hold back but it slips out "Sanji is more man than you three combined" you spit through gritted teeth getting the three of them to look at you "What was that?" Ichiji asks his anger starting to show "I said... Sanji is more man than you three combined. he's a better man, boyfriend and Farther than any of you could hope to be" you yell, Ichiji's eye twitches and snatched Kuina out of his brothers arm holding her by her arms making her scream out. You don't know what came over you but all you can see is red as you rip your hand free of the long red spike and make fangs out of your fingers. The three look at you in shock as the tattooed snake on your arm slithers out growing bigger and bigger before letting out a loud hiss and slamming its head into the ground near them.
Sanji and Zoro had finally finished shopping and made it back to the sunny putting the shopping in the pantry, once it was all put away Sanji puts the kettle on as Zoro wraps his arms around the cooks waist and lays his head in his neck "I'm tired" The swordsman moan making Sanji laugh a little "go nap with our Y/N and Kuina then" The cook reply's rubbing the swordsman's arms that are wrapped about his waist "Come with" Zoro places a kiss on Sanji's neck, Nami walks in and smiles at the two before looking around the room "Where Y/N and Kuina?" she asks making Zoro look up form Sanji's neck giving the navigator a confused look "She came back earlier" he states only for a feeling of dread to fill his stomach as Nami shakes her head "No i was on watch until a few minutes ago, and she didn't come back" Sanji's eyes wide as the three of them rush out of the kitchen finding Usopp and Franky doing repairs on the side of the ship, if you did come back you would have had to ask them to move to get to your room. "Have you seen Y/N and Kuina?" Sanji asks in a panic the two looking up and getting worried at the cooks face "N-no" Usopp gulps as Franky stands up "Hay it's ok man we'll go out and look for them" The cyborg try's to calm panting Sanji while Zoro holds him, the cook having a panic attack at you and his baby missing "It's ok we'll split up and look for them, i'm sure there fine" Nami rubs Sanji back while he clings to Zoro trying to clam his breathing, The swordsman is worried too but he knows panicking isn't going to help so he pulls the cook away and cups his face "Hay, it's going to be ok, lets do as Nami says"
Quickly agreeing Usopp stays behind to watch the ship while Nami and Franky head off together to look for you while Zoro and Sanji head back to the market, they took a shortcut on the way back since the shopping was heavy, so they deiced to head the way you would have gone. Zoro held Sanji's hand as they jogged down the street looking around for any sigh of you, a smell hit the swordsman's nose that made him stop in his tracks, Sanji was pulled to a stop and turned to yell at Zoro only to see the swordsman's eye wide looking down an alleyway. Sanji walks closer and looks down to see a hole in the wall and blood, his heart almost stops at the thought of it being your blood "Are you two ok?" An old man asks stepping out of his house next to the alleyway. "What happened?" Zoro asks the man stepping back a bit by the swordsman's tone "I didn't see much but three guys in suits attacked a young lady and her baby then took them away. i don't know where though sorry" The man shrugs.
Zoro's heart almost stops, but he manages to grab Sanji as the cook almost drops to his knees shaking and clutching his chest feeling like his heart is going to burst "It's ok we'll find them" Zoro holds Sanji who clings to him "No... No not them" The cook whispers, The old man goes to speak again only for a loud bang to echo through the town along with screams. The two look up to see something move on the other end of town, they look at each other before running in that direction, as they get closer they have to push past people who are running away only stopping when someone slams into a building going through the bricks and landing in what looks like a living room. "Fucking bitch" Sanji's eyes widen at hearing the voice and a blue figure stepping out of the building cracking his jaw back in place "Niji" Sanji growls making the blue haired man look to see Sanji. "I'm guessing this is your brother?" Zoro glares getting out his swords, he never met Sanji's three brother but after hearing what happened after Sanji came back he wanted to kill them.
A loud hissing cuts them off as a snake head brake through one of the buildings lifting into the air, a red clothed figure inside its fanged mouth, Ichiji in its jaws holding its mouth open as the snake tried to either crush him or slam itself into buildings to hurt him while sounding like its screaming in pain and anger. Sanji goes to yell at Niji only for another snake to slither its head around the corner behind them, Zoro turns and sighs seeing its only your second snake. Their usually very friendly to the crew so it surprised him when it hissed at him and attacked, Sanji jumps back as Zoro blocks the snakes head bash "What the hell its us" Zoro yells pushing it away, It's eyes aren't normal as it looks at the three men, its pupil should be round but instead it's a very thin slit, he's only ever seen this once and thats when they were fighting in Wano. "What did you do?" Sanji yells having no chose but to kick the snake as it lunged at the cook sending it falling back and letting out a loud scream as its tail comes down on a near by building crushing it to pieces.
Ichiji hits the ground hard next to Niji getting the wind knocked out of him as the snake focuses its attention on someone else. "Your G-Girlfriends f-fucking crazy" he manages to get out between coughs of blood and trying to sit up. "Where is she and where's Kuina?" Sanji grabs Niji by the collar glaring at the man through raging eyes and gritted teeth. Niji glares back and grabs the cooks hand "Make her call them off" Yonji lands next to his brother kicking Sanji away as the two snakes raise up over the groups, their hisses grow louder almost defining as their fangs start to drip with venom, when it lands on the floor it sizzles melting the walk way a little. Zoro presses his back against Sanji as the cook gets up "Kinda hard to do that when we don't know where she is" Zoro calls out noticing the snakes acting very off, they would shake their heads before hissing their pupils gong form slit to round then back to slit. "Maybe we should just kill her" Ichiji calls out avoiding a drop of venom but Sanji runs at him and kicks him in the face sending his brother into the building next to them. The snakes shake their heads for a final time their eyes going back to round and venom stops dripping from their fangs, they look at each other before the one in front of Zoro lays it head on the ground slowly moving closer to the swordsman who sighs putting a sword away and patting the snakes nose "I know bud it's ok.. Where's Y/n and Kuina?" he asks as Sanji loses sight of his brother, the three managing to run off while Sanji, Zoro and the snakes were distracted.
Drinks!!
Tw- frobin (sorry if you don't like it😭😭), alcohol, gambling, fingering, oral (both recieving), piv, no protection (guys please wrap your willy dont be silly), praise, nicknames
Nami had suggested getting drinks after another big win. So I was stood infront of my vanity on the ship putting on lip gloss. I was in the dress I newly bought. It was a short dark green dress that had strings with rhinestones hanging off the bottom while the straps were rhinestone as well. Not to mention the cute low cut.
Nami stepped into our shared room with Robin. She had a dark maroon dress that had a slit up the leg. "You look hot!" She complimented. I laughed and did a spin for her. "I might take you before Zoro does." Nami teased.
"Stop that." I laughed. "There is nothing between me and Zoro. Now help me find some heels." She rolled her eyes and looked in the closet. Soon finding a pair of white high heels that has rhinestones on the heel. "Cute!" I said snatching them and putting them on.
"Alright let's go everyone else already left!" She said pushing off the ship. We walked to the casino we were going to party at soon arriving.
Nami and I walked to an area to gamble and cheat. We ordered our selves margaritas and began to gamble our hearts away, or bank accounts.
"Nami I'm gonna go relax for a bit." I yelled over the music. Even though she was too caught up to even notice me speaking. I laughed and walked to the booth where Zoro, Robin, and Franky were. I giggled noticing how Zoro l9oked like a third wheel.
Franky was quite obviously flirting with Robin and Zoro was quite literally about to throw up. I took the seat besides Zoro and poured myself some sake. Drinking it quickly.
Franky and Robin walked off to the dance floor leaving me and Zoro by ourselves. "Where did the captain go?" I asked him.
"Him, Chopper, and Usopp just walked off. They're probably eating. And the pervy cook is off with some chicks." Zoro told me.
I laughed and covered my mouth with my hand. "Sounds like the cook." We sat in a comfortable silence for a little while watching as Nami gambled, Robin and Franky dancing, Luffy eating 7 course meals while Usopp and Chopper are passed out on the table beside him, Brook going around making stupid skeleton puns, and Sanji trying to flirt with every girl there.
"Wanna have a drinking contest?" I suggested. I smiled at him. He smirked.
"Your on." He said. He called a waiter over and ordered tons of shots.
I had gotten down at least 5 and himself 7. I was admiring the way his jaw would flex everytime he took a shot. The sight could make me drool. His strong hands gripping the small glasses. Not paying attention I spilled some of the alcohol on my breasts. I groaned and grabbed a napkin to clean it up.
From the corner of my eye I could see Zoro watching me clean my chest. Well really just my chest. At the sight if this I decided to move closer to him. I wrapped my arm around his own and pushed my tits against him. Grabbing another shot and taking it.
Zoro leaned into me close to my eat and spoke. "That looks good on you but it would look way better off." The breath on my ear was hot. I blushed, hard. "How about we get out of here hmm, princess?" The name made me blush even more.
I smirked. "Alright let's get going then Zoro~." I dragged him from his eat and out the casino. I could feel the crews eyes on us as we left.
As soon as we made it to my bed he kissed me deeply. Placing his hands around my waist I wrap my arms around his neck. I kicked off my heels while still making out with the green haired man. He pushes us down on the bed hovering over me. Zoros lips were still connected to my own.
His hand traveled down the sides of my body and to the hem of my dress his hand reached up and pressed against my clothed clit. I moaned into the kiss and gripped his shirt. He pulled away with a smirk. "You like that princess, huh?" He removed my whole dress leaving me in only a pair of underwear and a bra. Ge removed my bra and panties leaving me fully naked infront of him. "Your so pretty, princess." He praised. I blushed and looked away from him. "No need to be shy." He hummed and tilted my face to face his own and connected our lips again. His knee was invetween my thighs and his left hand on my right breast.
He began to kneed my tit and I moaned leading him to enter his tongue into my mouth exploring every corner. His knee pressed against my pussy and I squealed at the pressure.
He pulled away and attacked my neck leaving little marks along my neck. Little moans kept escaping my lips. His lips traveled down my body and he lifted my thighs above his shoulders. Zoro kissed her inner thighs. "What a pretty little pussy." He said before kitten licking me. I moan and my hips buck upwards. He pushes my thighs down to hold me in place and began to attack my pussy with his tongue.
"God... uh- Zoro.. oh!" I moaned out. His tongue was lapping at my clit and his hands were rubbing the sensitive parts of my thighs. He hummed against my clit when I moaned. I could feel my legs twitch and he did it again liking my reaction.
Zoro brought one of his hands to my hole and pushed a finger inside of me. I arched my back and moaned. He began to pump in and out of me quickly. His tongue still working against my clit.
"Zoro I'm- ahh~ g-gonna- hah cum!" I moaned. He pumped his fingers faster and soon brought me over the edge. I was in complete ecstacy as he pulled me through the orgasm. Zoro pulled his face away with my juices all along his face. He smirked and kissed me. I could taste myself on his mouth and moved so I was sat in top of him. "Let me return the favor." I said taking his shirt off.
I then slid down to his pants and began to unbutton them. Pulling them off he was left in boxers. I reached my hand inside and began to stroke his cock feeling how big he really is. "Mmm." He groaned. I smirked and removed his boxers.
When they were off I fully saw his size. Zoro was massive. I didn't think I would be able to fully fit him in my mouth. I spit in my hand and use it to coat his cock. Placing my lips along the tip and swirling my tongue. I pulled away and began to kitten lick his tip.
Zoro getting impatient he pushed my head down his full cock me gagging in the process. I began to bob my head back and forth along his large dick sucking and stroking it. "Y/n.... hahh." He moaned. I couldn't help but hum at the sound of my name leaving his lips. It was so hot.
Not to long after his cock was twitching inside my mouth. He gripped me by the hair and pulled me up. "Can't take this any longer." He groaned. He flipped me onto my stomach with my ass in the air.
He smacked my ass and I moaned. "Princess, are you ready for a reward for being such a good girl." He whispered seductively into my ear. I nodded. "I wanna hear you say it." He rasped.
"Yes I am Zoro." I whined. With one more slap on my ass he slid his tip across my folds. He used my slick as lube and slowly pushed inside of me. "Ohhh~." I moaned as he slid inside. He was huge and wasn't even fully inside of me. After getting all the way in he let pit a breath and stayed still for a moment.
Soon he began to move at a slow but hard pace. Picking up the pace slowly. I moaned his name as he sped up. "God your pussy feels so good Y/n." He purred out. His hands on my hips as he thrusted inside of me.
"Zoro!" I moaned he flipped me around so I was on my back and facing him. He lifted my legs on top of his shoulders and plowed into me.
My mind went hazy as he kept his hard pace. I moved my hips in a circular motion, grinding into him. "Oh my god." I moaned out. My hands were pulling and grabbing at his hair.
Zoros face dipped down to the crook of my neck leaving bite marks along it. "Hah hah y/n." He moaned. His hand moved from my waist to my clit and started to rub.
"Mmmmm!" I whined at the pressure on my clit. His thrust and his fingers were bringing me closer and closet to the edge. "Oh Z-zoro hah mmm I'm s-so close!" I whimpered out.
"Me too, princess." He groaned into my neck. He moved his face and captured my lips in his. Tears were brimming my eyes at the feeling of him pounding me.
"Ahh!" I moaned. I released myself all over his thick cock. Soon after he pulled out and stroked him self till he released on my stomach.
"Hah Y/n." He moaned as he came. The sight could've made me cum myself. The way his face contorted into one of pure bliss. After I sat up and kissed his lips.
"How about a shower then we sleep." I said while embracing him. My bare breast pressed against him. He smiled and inhaled my scent.
"Alright."
♡BONUS♡
The rest of the crew were sitting at a table all together now. "So when's a good time to go back?" Asked Usopp.
"In an hour or two." Nami said.
"I can't believe this my beautiful Y/n-swan is with that mosshead." Cried sanji. Luffy laughed at him.
"At least he gets some." Luffy laughed at his own comeback. Which had Usopp dying and Sanji fuming.
private lesson
Plot: Sanji is a huge flirt, talking about doing private cooking lessons with him. And to his surprise, you actually agree.
pairing: opla!sanji x fem reader
word count: 1.8k
------------------------------------------------------------
Early one morning, the Straw Hat Pirates anchored their ship on a new island. And as usual, they were eager to explore new uncharted territory. Sanji was left with finding groceries to stock up on.
He wandered through the bustling market. A hand in his pocket and a freshly lit cigarette in the other as he took in the vibrant colors and sounds. The exotic spices, fresh fruit, strange seafood, and beautiful women all piqued his interest.
Heavy on the beautiful women.
Sometimes he had to stop and remind himself why he was there in the first place: finding ingredients for the crew's meals and any other culinary inspiration.
He bought his usual main meats and vegatables and a few things to experiment with later, but what really grabbed his attention was the aroma wafting from a nearby restaurant.
**
You were the sous chef for the restaurant you worked at. But make no mistake, you worked your way up to that position. Starting on dishes, then the plate line, and finally, you got to cook in the kitchen and craft dishes yourself. You also went to culinary school for a bit, so you did have some formal training under your belt.
The head chef was getting older and had a few health problems, so you'd pretty much take over. It was impressive at your young age. Although it could be stressful at times, you were nice to everyone. Everyone had a lot of respect for you.
It was going on brunch time and surprisingly, it wasn't all too busy. So you spent your time behind the counter at the bar, wiping down the area and trying to perfect a new dish.
The bells above the door jingled. You looked up from what you were doing and made eye contact with a young blonde guy, about your age. He smiles at you. You give him a small smile back, but not sure if it was directed at you in the first pace.
He exchanges a few words with the host and makes his way to the empty seat at the bar across from where you stood, setting his bags down next to it and getting comfortable.
"Hi, welcome in." you greeted him. "What drink can I get you started with today?"
"Just a glass of water, love"
You'd never been called that before. He definitely wasn't a local.
"Here you go." You poured him the water with a friendly smile and slid him the menu. "Let me know when you're ready to order, or if you have any questions."
Sanji looked at you with geniune interest, taking in your professionalism and the surroundings. He couldn't help but be captivated.
As his eyes pursed the menu, his eyes occasionally drifted back to you, the beautiful woman behind the counter who caught his attention. The menu was filled with great dishes, each sounding more enticing than the last.
After a few minutes, he looked up and caught your gaze again. "I'll try the sobrasada brioche."
"Excellent choice." You write his order on your little notepad that you pulled from your back pocket and relay it to the kitchen.
**
"This is amazing." he beamed. "The texture adds a nice touch."
"I'm glad you like it." you chuckled as you handed a drink to another man who came and sat at the bar a few seats away.
"You know, I didn't catch your name, love. I'm Sanji." his eyes twinkled and he flashed you yet another radiant smile.
"I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you."
"And you as well, madam."
A blush creeped up on your cheeks. It was somewhat unusual to be called "love" and "madam". There was a certain charm to it that you couldn't deny.
"So Sanji, you're not from around here, are you?"
He leaned back in the chair, crossing his arms, taking a second to answer. "My crew and I anchored here. I was looking around, trying to find ingredients for our meals, as I am the cook. But I couldn't resist the alluring aroma that was coming from this place. And I'm glad I didn't."
You opened your mouth to respond when a youngster from the kitchen came out looking for you. Excusing yourself from Sanji, you turned to the boy and allowed him to go on and talk.
He just wanted to get in extra hours and wondered where you could place him.
"Cool, thanks chef." he said after you two came to an agreement and went back between the double doors.
Sanji wasn't the one to eavesdrop but he couldn't help but hear that last part.
"Chef?" his eyes lit up when you turned in his direction again, referring to the title the boy gave you.
"That's me." you smiled proudly. "Well...sous chef."
"It's a pleasure to meet someone so beautiful and talented.
You nervously looked down at your hands. He was direct.
“Have any signature dishes?”
“Well,” you started. “I’m working on this dish.” You grabbed the plate off to the side that held the small entree to show him. “It’s a lobster roll that I want to add for the seasonal brunch menu. It’s…not quite right yet.” you admitted with a bit of self-critique in your voice.
His eyes locked on the dish and he studied it intently and then brought his gaze back to you. "Mind if I try it?"
"Sure, go ahead."
He took a bite, his expression thoughtful as he savored the flavors. "It's exquisite. However, it is missing a certain...kick. And I'd be happy to help you, if you like."
You tossed the dish rag over your shoulder and put your weight on your forearms, leaning closer. "You? In my kitchen?"
Sanji smirked. "If you'll have me."
It was intriguing. He seemed genuine and he definitely had knowledge based on how he spoke and his reaction. You contemplated for a moment, weighing the potential benefits of having him help.
"Alright," you finally replied, with a playful glint in your eye. "But you're not getting paid."
**
After you instructed another member of the kitchen to watch the bar in your place and getting confused looks as Sanji followed your lead through the area, you both spent the next two hours working, experimenting with ingredients and techniques. He took control, and you let him. The prep area was a mix of different fixings. You worked diligently beside him, chopping the garlic like he asked, your hands moving in unison.
The garlic, along with some white wine vinegar, egg yolks, hot water, salt, olive oil, and spice, he drizzed the sauce (which had a mayo like consistency) onto the dish.
"It's a saffron aioli." Sanji described.
You took a bite. It definitly added flavor as well as color. With a touch of elegance.
"You're incredible!" you told him. "You should write a cookbook."
"Well, you know, a true artist never reveals his secrets. But, I could be talked into offering some private lessons." he replied, leaning against the counter with a mischievous look in his eye.
"Oh gosh." you groaned. "That was so cheesy."
He chuckled. He couldn't help but flirt. Of course, he thought you were gorgeous, but he also saw a lot of himself in you. Someone who seems to love food the way he does and the appreciation for little details.
"Sure."
Sanji blinked. "I'm sorry?"
"Yes, I'll take you up on your offer."
He was a bit caught off guard. A woman has never given into his advances. He was always met with soft or harsh rejection everytime.
You knew he was being coy, but if he was actually serious, you could learn from him.
More like, you could learn from each other. What's the harm in that?
He smiled. "You won't regret it. Cooking is a pleasure that's meant to be shared."
The restaurant started to get busier, so you and Sanji had to wrap up the impromptu cooking session. It was time for him to go as well as the crew was probably wondering where he was at this point. On a napkin, you gave him a description of your house and how to find it with the plan to see each other again the following night. He put is safe in his pocket.
**
You said your goodbyes and Sanji went back and met up with the crew again. He couldn't help but gush about the encounter he had at the restaurant. Luffy listened with interest, Zoro couldn't care less, and Usopp and Nami teased him.
The next morning, he found himself eagerly anticipating what was to come. Although Nami was the skilled navigator, she was also the avid shopping connoisseur and offered to help Sanji find something suitable to wear.
She had an eye for fashion and wanted to make sure Sanji made the best impression possible. Together, they scoured the markets, looking for the perfect attire.
**
Sanji made his way to your house, per the instructions you provided. After hearing a soft knock on the door, you opened it swiftly. And there he stood.
Clad in a blue sweater and black pants, holding a bouquet of blue flowers to match, two loaves of french bread, with his blonde hair neatly covering his eye and signature cigarette in his mouth. He looked so adorable, you had to admit.
His eyes sparked in enthusiam, mixed with anticipation and hope that you would appreciate his effort.
"You clean up nicely." you complimented, inviting him in and taking the flowers and bread from him. "These are beautiful, thank you."
"My pleasure. Your outfit is nice too."
You look down at your regular ole tshirt and shorts then back at him. "Oh, it's just my usual." You weren't expecting anything fancy. But maybe that was just his style. "So, what do you have in mind?"
"Anything. Just tell me what you want."
At first, you didn't know what to expect from this "private lesson". You were a little nervous and were expecting to say no to anything you weren't comfortable with, if it came to that.
But the night seemed to fly by. The kitchen was productive and filled with laughter. You knew that in due time, Sanji would eventually leave with his crew, but it was nice to have an experience like this.
With the ingredients you had, Sanji managed to make a cigala fideua. A dish that consisted of prawn, baby squid, and garlic aioli served on top angel hair pasta. He was going to serve it with rice but the pasta was your idea. You also sauteed shishito peppers tossed with sea salt as a side dish.
"Mhmm, this is my new favorite thing in the world." you say, mouth full of deliciousness.
Sanji sits across from you at the table, a glass of wine in his hand, smiling at you.
"What?" you raise an eyebrow after you swallow.
He shrugged. "There's nothing better than watching someone enjoy food."
Can you imagine if the Vinsmokes gained their emotions back when Sanji saves their lives at WCI, but it kinda hits them all at once, so they become massively attached to Sanji.
21+ years of familial love for their brother smacks them in the face, only for them to find out Sanji has REALLY over protective boyfriends in ASL who monopolize Sanji all the time (this can be the gods au or just regular ASL+S)
Gods can you imagine the guilt? Not only just all that love but the guilt, shame, embarrassment, and horror at what they've done. Reiju just watching them and Ichiji asking her why she never stopped them, how often she helped Sanji after what they did? He needs to know and the answers 'i didn't want the attention ' and 'not enough' rip through his chest like niji's lightning.
Sanji's gone, with his crew and they've only just escaped Big Mom's pirates and her prison and everything so they're not exactly primed for the real world. But without Germa and being free means they need to find their own way. So uhh, they guess first things they'll go find Zeff and thank him? And they do. Zeff and everyone is confused about the apology/thanks combo they're getting. Especially because it revolves around Sanji and Germa. Zeff is ready to kill them all but Patty says they can work for their forgiveness and puts them in the dishpit.
It's good for them, they're working through a lot of things and Zeff keeps making them push back against him verbally. They're...healing, but they need more but at least they're also developing some skills that can help them in their pursuit. Over time, maybe about a year ish later they decide to find Sanji. To go apologize, they won't ask for forgiveness, it's not something they deserve but he needs to their regret, their sorrow, their change. For them to be like him like their mother wanted. Maybe their skin is no longer metal, still extremely durable but they can be bleed.
Following the Strawhats is a challenge and Zeff warned them about it though. He gives them his lot of the Grand Line, a log post, and demands letters. They agree as Reiju stays with Zeff. As they set sail Zeff tells them to not be afraid of Sanji's boyfriends, they'll understand eventually! Which makes Niji ask the hell that means to no response. It takes a few months but they're doing fine. Mostly.
The New World is a bigger challenge than they expected but when they catch up the crew is fighting Marines and it's all an out assault from both sides. Ichiji says they should attack the Marines so they do with their powers and uhhh, is that a guy with three swords coming after them? Oh shit it's that Roronoa Zoro guy! Fuck!
Yonji is trying to calm him down while evading him. Ichiji and Niji are still focusing on actually fighting the Marines who start to retreat and the fire dives down so Luffy snaps onto their ship with a rubbery twang and pure anger and Nami, the hot chick they remember is there on a cloud. Right. Okay. They can do this!
"You broke the agreement so we're going to sink your ship!" Luffy yells at them in warning.
"We want to to apologize to Sanji." Ichiji says evenly.
"I'll see if he even wants to talk to you after what happened." Nami growls as the cloud takes her back. They get a signal to meet at the ship. Not to board, so it's kind of awkward with the height differences between the ships. Luffy and Zoro jump up onto their ship as Luffy slings an arm around Sanji with a cowboy guy who is glaring viciously at them.
"Speak your piece and get the fuck away!" Sanji yells at them.
"Were sorry! We are not owed forgiveness for anything!" Yonji starts.
"That's not an apology." The cowboy says.
"Oh, Sabo's going suuuper to love this." The robot says.
"Ah, do you want us to say? We don't know what you told them and don't want to cause more problems." Ichiji asks.
"Start with the cuffs." Luffy demands.
"Cuffs?" A few voices ask.
"Sorry we let Judge put those on you!" Ichiji says with a wince.
"Sorry for our childhoods!" Niji yells. "And electrocuting you with that plate in your back, especially. And calling you a failure after you got shot."
"Wait-" Zoro tries.
"Sorry about the dungeon?" Yonji tries which flummoxes the rest of the crew except Sanji.
"Oh my God they're going to die." Nami says.
"Zeff says you should write more, he's kind of been doing the whole push back thing he did with you? Reiju's still there." Ichiji says.
"Alright, I'll write to the fucking geezer but if I see any of you before I come back to Baratie I'm not who you have to worry about." Sanji threatens.
"Just one?" Luffy asks.
"Nah, let Sabo deal with them." Cowboy says. "Zeff is more likely to forgive him."
"Doubt that, lets get the fuck outta here, I need to start lunch." Sanji says walking away from the railing. With the crew chattering after him. When the brothers get home a few months later there's a blond guy talking with Reiju and Zeff and smiling politely with another orange haired girl beside him.
"Don't threaten them too much." Zeff warns.
"I would never sully this fine established like that." The blond says with mock offense.
"Don't sully it with blood either." Zeff stresses.
"Of course not! I'll do it elsewhere and no one will know." The blond smiles at the chef. "Bye guys!" He chirps, grabbing a pipe from the floor and leaves with the other girl who mimics slitting her throat at them with a smile as she skips out the door.
