Fellow saniwas, I want to share with you an experience I had. I need to talk about this with someone, without fearing I will be attacked in some way....
If you have gone through the same situation, you can contact me, and we can freely talk about touken ranbu.
So, this is the situation:
Touken ranbu came to my life when I was going through a terrible depression, the Touken danshi became the most beautiful miracle in my life. After seeing the anime, musicals and stage, I was ready to meet the fandom, I needed someone to talk about the touken danshi and my fascination for them.
I met some friends and other people, but after a while, they started getting angry if I liked their favorite touken danshi.
They were like:
"he is JUST MINE, you CAN'T like the same character I like" "He is MY husband, you b*tch" "He is MY TERRITORY and I already marked him ( peeing on them as a dog marks its territoriy) *"
It is incredibly humiliating that my own Friends think I'm a whore for liking the same character they like.
It was exactly the same with all people I meet who like touken ranbu, they get mad as soon as I tell them I like a character and that character is their favorite.
They say that they are "just playing" and it is not serious, but it really makes me feel bad.
I JUST CAN'T TALK ABOUT ANY TOUKEN DANSHI WITHOUT FEARING MY FRIENDS AND SOME PEOPLE IN THE FANDOM GET MAD AND JEALOUS!!!
I mean, I loooooove all touken danshi with all my heart, they make my life beautiful, they literaly saved me from depression and anxiety. I want everybody to love them as much as I do, I would love to freely talk about them with a lot of people. But the fandom sometimes is just TOXIC.
I'm seriously thinking about leaving the fandom.
I want theese people to understand :
First, even if it is painful, the toudan are just anime characters
Second, they are known by a lot of people, it is Obvious that someone will love the same character you love. Their are not exclusively yours!
And third, It is SO DUMB to argue with other people because you don't want them to like the same character you like.
PLEASE, PLEASE GROW UP, MATURE ALREADY!
Ok... That's what I wanted to say.

I wanna cry right now... I just deleted my game.... I accidentally deleted it... I can't... That's almost a year worth of gaming... I was so close to reaching 1st year anniversary
I was cleaning up space in my phone and instead of deleting a3, which I haven't been playing for a month, I deleted touken ranbu....
I didn't have my account saved since I couldn't go trough DMM process so I just resorted to playing it unitl I really get bored of it
I wasn't bored yet... I still had a lot of stuff to do and swords to obtain... My citadel was filled with pretty much everybody, except few older toudans and few of new ones
I can't get my progress back... And I was so close to send my first sword, Kashuu, to kiwame trip
Sorry for ranting I'm just little down that all that time and effort and bonding with my swords just vanished like that... I feel like an awful saniwa for just doing that...

From what Google Translate says...
And why does all these big announcements and events always have to happen on the day I'm going back to college :')
Cause my college is way hidden in a village, surrounded by palm trees. Can you even imagine meeting Charlie ants every once in a while, everywhere you go?

Sword Spotlights: #3
Hi.
Let's look at a sword who needs the most love.
Hasebe Heshikiri
He was one of Oda Nobunaga's favourite sword. Being that his name, "Heshikiri"; comes from an incident where Oda used Hasebe to slice through a table and kill a servant who angered Oda.
Because of that and Oda's ruthlessness; he's very wary about about what an Aruji asks him to do. He's also the assistant of Saniwa in Hanamaru, being very eager to please them.
But come on, so what if he has an obsession of Saniwa? He can't help it!
Actually, his attention obsession toward the Saniwa comes from the Oda Nobunaga tragedy.
Hasebe has severe abandonment issues, which is shown from his resentment toward Nobunaga. He believed Oda abandoned him because he was passed down to someone who he didn't trust.
He deserves love, I mean; any one who belonged to Oda Nobunaga needs it.
But Hasebe will still follow Oda's orders, the same he does toward the Saniwa. Since Oda was his last master, he will do whatever he orders no matter what it is.
He might desperately want Saniwas attention and let no one else get it; but just think about it. A crying Hasebe because saniwa was treating him differently; which brings in the abandonment issues.
But can we just look at something real quick.
Just think about it. They're both Oda Nobunaga swords, and they act like parents in Hanamaru.
Just imagine a Hasebe kissing Souza with ticklish pecks and Souza laughing adorably.
Or a Souza holding Hasebe close to his chest when he's having abandonment issues and doubts; saying he would never abandon him in his life.
They both went through a lot, and deserve the most love in the world.
They talk a lot together in Hanamaru as well, and I haven't seen Hasebe be a jerk to Souza as much. If I'm wrong, correct me.
Best parents who gone through shitty masters.

Eyes
Yeah....got inspired by a touken ranbu rp that my friend and i are doing again....
They got Gokotai and I went into a BIG OL RANT ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE MY S O N.
Context: Out of all of the Awataguchi blades, Gokotai is considered a false/artificial one. He doesn’t share the same Toushirou name like the rest of the tantous do in the Awataguchi family. This is because the having a Awataguchi blade back in ye olden days was almost a symbol of good luck/wealth. So there were many counterfeits running around claiming to be the real thing. This is shown in a conversation between Gokotai and Atsushi where the former showcases some anxiety about being a false blade and not a true part of the family.
However, when Gokotai returns from Kiwame, one of his quotes mentions how the master always looks straight into his eyes, and doesn’t look away, perhaps they are not ashamed of him? So I thought a lot about this and maDE A FIC. @lunalove25
Eyes are the window to the soul.
They tell everything about a person, what they are thinking, what they plan to do.
To Gokotai, it’s shame and utter failure.
He’s not real. He’s not a true Awataguchi blade. He’s a fake compared to his brothers, who stand proud and loud and tall in their own ways. What is he?
…Actually, maybe he shouldn’t find the answer to that.
“Master…”
You let out a small hum when you look up from the book, blinking your eyes down at the little tantou who sits at your chair, his small frame sinking into the plush material of velvet. “What’s wrong?” “W-W-W….” his words die in his throat, tiny little hands playing with the fur of the sole tiger at his feet, large and proud and powerful – everything that he is not.
He inhales deeply, hands shaking and staring into the eyes of yours. “What do you see when you look at me?”
You still, the book set back down on the coffee table, a hand to your chin.
Gokotai has been with you since the beginning, by your side since you first became a saniwa. He has always protected you, held your heart as a son would a parent.
But now? After his journey?
His eyes were different.
Amber pools that shake – not with fear, maybe a little – but with determination. He has grown since his Kiwame journey, and you can see that. He holds his little dagger with pride, to his chest and slashes at the entities without hesitation, he protects you.
Because he is meant to protect.
“I see you, Gokotai.”
The little one doesn’t speak, cocking his head to the side. “W-What do you mean?” “You’re you.” You answer him again, sliding off of the couch to stand in front of him, taking his tiny hands into yours. “You’re a little tantou, precious and special. I don’t care that you only defeated Kenshin only thrice…” your voice trails off, a hand reaching out to ruffle his snow white hair. “You’re you, and I’m proud to have you by my side.” His eyes begin to well up with tears, sniffles and snuffles leaving his little nose. “M-Master….” Soft little sobs begin to drip from his hues, tears spilling over. Gently do you wrap your arms around his form, your lips pressing to his forehead.
All you see is Gokotai, the little tantou who has been by your side since the start, who held your hand when you cried, who held your close during nightmares, who always came back with a gentle smile and made you flower crowns to cheer you up.
Gokotai is your little blade.
All you see is him.

Tsukumogami take the form of a conscience shaped by the hands of it’s former owners, so it was expected that a kiseru wouldn’t be exigent about anything. The one who belonged to a man who was known as a street thug? This kiseru probably should be thankful to be allowed to even exist! But the street thug was Banzuiin Chobei. The first week was delightful, Cho felt a bit of intimidated due to being so close to swords who defended the Tokugawa shogunate, but managed to fit in. The first month was like a slow drizzle, nothing had changed to the eyes, but once a hand is slipped on a place unprotected by a roof, it would be able to feel the small droplets of water falling from the sky: Cho started to show displeasure in being at this citadel, but no reason was given.
The second month came with a rolling thunder in the distance. “Do you realize that allowing such picky habits will just make him even more pickier?” It was just a exasperated rant because of an incomplete gyudon. The dashi seemed to be deep-fried, no raw eggs topping the neat bowl... On Cho’s first week, the comment on the same meal would be it looks great, I’m sure master will like it! “... Banzuiin-sama would never turn his nose to such luxury...”
By the second half of the second month, a rain started to fall with large and fast droplets that would soon vanish and leave a dry and hot air in the place. “... Sometimes serving him feels like serving the ones my master opposed.” Cho murmured on a sleepless night. Nothing had happened that day, but everything seemed wrong, so wrong. And probably anyone who heard the following words would know that Machiyakkomono is just picky as the saniwa, but isn’t able to realize it: “I don’t feel the strong desire to do his duty for the sake of history and humanity, but because he was said to do so.” However that sleepless night was necessary, so by the start of the third month the kiseru was finally able to approach the saniwa based on own will instead of being summoned. This month started as a wintry day, when the snow accumulates on the ground and there’s no breeze, yet the sky is clear.
“Shukun!” No bath was enough to take the awful odor of ashes, however the season was perfect to pick a unlucky flower which had grown higher than the others in the field. Hopefully the flowery fragrance will be enough to avoid any uncomfortable situation regarding that permanent smell. “The expedition party just arrived! You should see’em!” ... But the approach didn’t gone as the tsukumogami planned. It was so sudden! Even Cho doubted that it could work in the end, but decided to follow the plan anyway due to the lack of a second one: “One more thing!” Placing the picked flower on the saniwa’s hair, mostly to misguide him to not think it was meant to disguise the unpleasant ashen smell, the kiseru spoke in a whisper: “Aside from greetings, we didn’t talked to each other since, huh, my arrival. And I’ve been thinking we might have some things to discuss about.”
A Kiseru should be grateful to be remembered as a weapon. However, Banzuiin Chobei’s kiseru was the only thing he had to use against everything he disagreed on. So, why a weapon so full of rebellious thoughts should be a conformist?

i've read reviews on toumyu 4 and now i am so fixated on understanding mikazuki. lol from what i can say from all the reviews i read is : he is trying to carry all darkness for the sake of saniwa & his comrades? what do you think? XD i'm sorry if it doesn't fit what you think of him but we really want to hear what you can say about him. ^^ Thank youuuuuu~
SPOILER ALERT!
DON’T READ THE QUESTION EVEN!
DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED!
I’ll gladly give you my opinion on the matter.
I would say they most definitely added a new layer to Mikazuki personality. In Atsukashiyama we couldn’t make sense of Mikazuki half of the time too, but he was mostly portrayed as a bit of a goofball. He had his serious moments, but no darkness. Whereas this time, the side we don’t see and don’t understand about him is in fact a lot darker than we’ve seen before, or at least, we’re given that impression. (While watching the musical, I couldn’t help but feel that Mario’s Mikazuki actually got a step closer to the way Suzuki Hiroki portrays Mikazuki in the stage play.)
The way the story is set up, Mikazuki’s intentions are unclear. The audience basically knows as much as Kogitsunemaru knows. Well, the audience knows a little bit more, since we are aware that Higekiri has some sort of memories regarding Mikazuki’s actions and he mention something along the lines of: “It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” when Hizamaru (I think) voiced his doubts about Mikazuki’s intentions. Yet, the whole story pushes us to believe Mikazuki actually betrayed the team and is trying to alter history.
Halfway through the musical we have a scene were Kogitsunemaru inquires after Mikazuki’s intentions, but receives no real answer. From this conversation we gather Kogitsunemaru suspects that Mikazuki is betraying them and he thereupon warns Mikazuki to stop what he’s doing. In return Mikazuki asks: “What will you do if I don’t?”, Kogitsunemaru answers: “I’ll kill you, obviously.” Near the end of the musical that Kogitsunemaru discovers that Mikazuki indeed involved himself in the timeline and seemingly threatened Yoritomo he should kill Yoshitsune. Kogitsunemaru gets super angry about this and decides to make good on the promise to kill Mikazuki. *fight scene* Higekiri interrupts this fights eventually and starts clearing up the situation (by pretending to be Mikazuki)
At this moment we’re indeed told that Mikazuki in fact decided to basically play the bad guy to keep the saniwa and his comrades getting hurt. (Basically like Ishikirimaru did in Mihotose.) Mikazuki decided to take on all the unpleasantness and basically force history in the way it should go. He decided he wouldn’t give the History Revisionist a chance to alter anything. He just walked straight up to Yoritomo and told him what had had to happen. He did all this without consulting the saniwa or his comrades, he tried to protect them from the pain that could follow from all this.
If I had to describe Mikazuki’s personality, I’d say he’s a incredibly warmhearted grandfather. He’s trying to look out for everyone (all his grandchildren…) and will gladly sacrifice himself or make questionable choices if it’s to keep any harm away from them. Moreover, Mikazuki tries to protect everyone in such a way, that they never even knew they were in danger. He doesn’t want credit, nor does he want permission. To keep those precious to him safe, he’ll do whatever it takes. I’d say Mikazuki is ready to commit a murder if needed. (Kogitsunemaru doesn’t quite agree with this method, but like any of us, we can’t say it’s entirely wrong what he’s doing. After all, all Mikazuki wants is to keep everyone safe. He doesn’t want to share the burden, he’ll carry it all by himself.)
In the musical they (I think Higekiri) raises the question: “When a part of the moon doesn’t reflect light, does it mean it’s not there?”. The answer to this question turns out to be: “Even if it doesn’t reflect light, it’s still there.” So, even though Mikazuki’s methods may be questionable and he may be moving around the shadows, it doesn’t mean he’s not there looking out for everyone.
Um, that’s a long rant and I wonder how helpful it is, or if it even answers the question you asked, but… It’s all I have for now. If you have any other questions or need clarification on anything I said, please let me know!

OH THANKYOU :D! Asking my about my blorbos is a mistake, I ended up ranting about it so I put it under a cut =w='
I think almost all of my art I've posted on here has been for Touken Ranbu! Its a fairly large Japanese franchise that started as a browser game for the working office woman. It has light gatcha elements since it is kind of a pretty boy collector. It has the gameplay of a glorified powerpoint, it's great. It semi-recently got a mobile version and an english release, though Im not a huge fan of the official translations. There's also multiple stage plays, musicals, movies, two different anime series, a Warriors franchise adaptation game for the Nintendo Switch and PC, and im pretty sure at least one official manga story.
The drawing I have currently pinned is the Kiwame (that is, upgraded) version of Kasen Kanesada, one of five characters you can choose as your first at the begining of the browser game.
The premise is You (the player of the browser game) have been hired by the Time Government as a Saniwa (something of a priest or god of gods? Not easy to translate, itll make sense later I promise) to fight against an entity called the Time Retrograde Army (or the Historical Revisionist Army, depending on translation. Abreviated as either TRA or HRA). The TRA are creatures that go back in time to change important events of Japanese history. To aid you, you have the ability to summon the spirits of historic and legendary Japanese blades into human form to go back in time and fight the TRA (this is where the light gatcha comes in).
I think it's pretty cool since the swords characters and designs are heavily bassed off of the history and legends sorounding them. I recommend diveing through the wiki if you are interested in Japanese history!
💌
I associate you with bunnies cos pronouns
And your art skills are amazing
Speaking of your art, your blorbos are beautiful, what are they from?

The order of things?!?
I had quite the interesting conversation some time ago about whether Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru and its 2nd season is a good interpretation of the Touken Ranbu franchise or not. One reason I heard that supposedly makes it bad is that the swords in the show appear "out of order". If you don't know the game you might ask yourself "What the f*** is she talking about? What order?". Let me explain~ As the game is developed bit by bit and each month there is new content, there also is an order on which swords appeared or more accurate were implemented. In short: There were certain swords when the game was first released and over time new sword were added. But the implementation of a certain sword doesn't mean that you will automatically get them at the time of their release. For example you might have bad luck at smithing or you just started when most of the swords were already in the game.
So far, so confusing, right? Now Hanamaru took the stage and the order established in the game was broken down. Swords that were implemented later appeared in the citadel earlier than swords who were implemented way before. So, does changing the order make Hanamaru a bad anime? I don't think so because each player gets swords earlier or later regardless of when they were implemented.
Lets take me for example ;) The latest sword that was implemented was Hyuuga Masamune. I got him pretty fast but I still haven't received Kikkou Sadamune, a sword implemented already in 2016. I mean, I already got so many swords that were put in the game later. Looking at you Daihannya <3 So, even though I knew he was already in the games code I did not yet receive him. Keeping that in mind and looking back at Hanamaru it makes sense how they made the swords appear.
Furthermore there is the issue of transferring game content (that is not a visual novel) into an anime. The game itself does not have a coherent story. It is an assortment of different stories from different time periods put under one roof. You are putting swords into teams at random, going to different stages with teams that have no connection to this stage whatsoever. The player can decide for themselves if they want to keep grinding a certain stage or go on further. Sure, there are certain swords that are bound to appear earlier because of the games mechanics but Hanamaru did get that right. Also the anime depicts the life in the citadel, there is no player having the power over the game. Sure there is a Saniwa making swords appear, like the player does, but they also are a part of the citadel unlike the player who only is an onlooker.
To put it simply: The story in Hanamaru is right in the middle of the action, there are no announcements of which sword is implemented next and which event is on now. All the swords are already available from the get go, now only the power put into the Ofuda and smithing decides who will appear next. Also there are no duplicates in Hanamaru...why not complain about that? Where is the stack of Kane-sans? Where do all the Yagens hide? Where are my 10 Tsurus and my 5 Kogis? I mean there are a lot of points to complain about in Hanamaru but the order of appearance sure isn't one in my opinion. It would have been totally weird if they had introduced the swords in order of implementation. I mean how the he*** did Jiji appear so fast in the citadel? HOW????Not complaining though~
Sorry~ for that rant but I had to get that off my chest *sighs* I really like Hanamaru and I really want to like the 2nd season as well. There sure are a lot of points to complain about - the anime is by no means perfect. Just, in my opinion picking on the "wrong" order of appearance is just nitpicky. Complain about how the new swords don't get enough screentime, how season 2 tries to relive jokes from season 1 or how there is no interaction between the Tenka Goken...or the weird pacing...I would understand all these points because I complain about them too. To critique these points makes total sense but the wrong order...just nah~

Hello, I had this idea where there's that Saniwa who acts a lot like Yamanbagiri, always saying that she isn't good enough or a worthy Saniwa, how would Yamanbagiri, Kasen, Souza and Izuminokami react? Sorry, but I was making a list when I was choosing the name and accidentally sent it c.c thank you so much.
Oh god I’m so sorry this took so long I wish I could make up a good excuse but I just. Forgot about this. (ಥ﹏ಥ)Dishonor on me, dishonor on my family, dishonor on my cow 1000 kisses to everyone who gets this reference ;) Tbh this was really hard to write for me since I feel worthless like 110% of the time but I hope you’ll still like it ❣
why did Yamanbagiri and Kane-sans hc’s turned out longer than the rest..
Yamanbagiri
both of them are just wallowing in self-doubts most of the time
can you see the dark clouds above their heads?
since he knows how it’s like to feel anxious about himself he can relate to her the most
he really wants to say something encouraging but doesn’t know how to start a conversation
so what comes out in the end will be: ‘…….’
kicks himself every time
this kind of drives him mad to the point he just snaps one day and starts ranting about all the reasons why he thinks that she’s the best master
oh no he’s screwed
contemplates Seppuku for a split second
but the Saniwa is so touched by his outburst she doesn’t let him get away and hugs him as a token of gratitude
‘I’ll be more confident in myself, but only if you stop calling yourself a duplicate.’
poor bab just wants to faint on the spot
Izuminokami
he doesn’t get it. at aLL
how can someone so strong and powerful like his master doubt herself that much?
he thinks it’s a shame that she thinks so low of herself and makes a point to lift her spirits
on the other hand he’s pretty confident that this is his time to shine
Kane-san the knight in shining armor lol
this man has enough confidence for the whole citadel
unfortunately his idea of cheering someone up involves shameless and cringeworthy flirting
‘I may be a super cool and strong sword warrior, but you are the only one who is truly worth admiring here *wink-wink*’
cue incredulous stare from the Saniwa, but in the end she gets his good intention
makes it his personal mission to compliment her at least once a day
Souza
he is genuinely dismayed that she feels so worthless
to him she is literally the kindest soul on earth?
not even compared to his former master who was a literal shithead
doesn’t know how to approach this sensitive topic at first since he doesn’t want to invade her privacy
he won’t tell her that she should cheer up since he knows this could have the opposite effect and could even harm her even more
so he settles with little compliments from time to time until she opens up to him on her own
he’s so considerate and will try to find the right words to tell her that he doesn’t wish for any other master
Kasen
feels like it’s his responsibility to make her confident again
because he just can’t wrap his head around it
why would she think she’s not good enough?
he’ll sit down with her and make her a warm cup of tea
will simply offer to be there for her whenever she needs someone to listen to her worries
but he always makes sure to tell her that she’s feeling insecure about things no one else even thought about

AI art is not, and will NEVER be real art.
As an artist I have spent YEARS learning, improving, putting my heart and soul in what I do.
A HEARTLESS AI WILL NEVER REPLACE HUMAN CREATIVITY, HEART AND SOUL.
AI is a tool for lazy people with no creativity at all. AI is The worst mistake of a twisted society.

Can we get a fun scenario where the ff. swords (Kasen, Mikazuki, Mustunokami & Kashuu) come across a very upset Saniwa after returning from a date. Without even asking why, the Saniwa explains that they have been stood up. How would they react to their master being sent into a tirade about how much effort they had put into making themselves presentable. They say something along the lines of "Do you understand the severity of this situation!? I bought NEW underwear and shaved my d*mnned legs!!"
Kasen• The Saniwa complaining about the preparations they made for they date probably embarrasses him a bit but otherwise he is a very good listener and assured them of how wrong the other was.
Mikazuki• For once it’s not really like he has a lot to say about the situation. He lets the Saniwa rant and tells them they’re sure to find someone who will truly deserve their time and energy eventually.
Mutsunokami• Again, he really doesn’t feel like he knows what to say to the Saniwa. He’s bound to be a little more awkward but listens anyway. He’d probably offer to help find them a better match to make them happy.
Kashuu• He’s furious on their behalf. He wants to hear all the complaints and makes many himself totally trashing the date. He’s perfect for that kind of talk. He’d be able to help towards cheering them up.

How would the ff. swords: Yamanbagiri, Kanesada, Tsurumaru and Jiji react to a jealous Saniwa who corners them in a quiet area of the Citadel. The Saniwa would be emotional and questions if they were just playing with their heart before trying to escape BUT this quickly backfires on the Saniwa who gets pinned against the wall (basically a Kabe-don) by said sword who decides to show/claim that they would never play with their master's feelings. (I'm so sorry this is so long.)
no worries anon-san, the longer thebetter! it will be easier for me to make the headcanons if you can explain whatyou want specifically ^^
by Kanesada, did you meanIzuminokami Kanesada or his other sibling? I’m going to assume that it’sIzuminokami is that okay?
I’m going to assume that the Saniwawas jealous when the other swords got too close towards their s/o
Yamanbagiri Kunihiro
honestly he never seen this kind of personality from you
usually you were really calm and gentle
now your eyes were darken with jealousy, and your lips were contorted into a scowl
you ranted about how unbelievably comfortable did he get with other swords, and how short the time he spent with you despite you and him being in a relationship
he might be a little bit insensitive sometimes, but seeing you trying so hard to not cry, his heart clench painfully
and after you snap at him to just leave you alone, he grabbed your hand and pinned you
before you could protest, he hugged you so tightly
“I-I am serious about our relationship”
since that time, he’ll spend more time with you
and even though he’s still a little bit uncomfortable with excessive skinship, he’ll always hold your hand
although this poor boy always get so flustered
Izuminokami Kanesada
the moment you laid your eyes on him, you know he’s going to be a lady-killer
it’s really the truth when he said that he’s the coolest sword
and you can’t help but get jealous
your anxiety rose, and you can’t help but feel insecure
when you confronted him about this, he was really surprised
he tried to assure you that all of the things you said weren’t true
but when you accused him on just playing around with your feelings, that’s when he snaps
he grabbed your hand and flipped you over
“are you doubting this Izuminokami Kanesada?”
holly molly this dude was speaking so dangerously low, you thought that he’s growling
“how about I show you just how serious I am towards you master?’
DUDE STOP TORTURING YOUR POOR MASTER
Tsurumaru Kuninaga
honestly, sometimes you felt thatyou don’t deserve him
he’s a strong warrior, yet full ofbrightness and humor
and you thought that you’re toostrict and gloomy
why did hechoose you?
he didn’t expect to be draggedoutside the citadel by you in the middle of his duty
he stared dumbfounded at you when you just babbled about how he must be foolingaround with someone as boring as you
and soon you were a crying mess, your words barely understandable
oh wow you thought you look so ugly right now, yeah you must have lookedgross
embarrassed, you turned away from him and started to run back to your room
a hand on your wrist is what stopped you, and a pair of arms pulling you intoembrace forced you to choke back another sob
“stupid master. even this kind of surprise isn’t funny, coming from you.”
he will kiss you many times to prove his love
he won’t stop until you felt dizzy
“did you trust me now master?”
yes
Mikazuki Munechika
he’s the most beautiful being you’ve ever come across to
surely, the fact that this man choose you over any other beings must be a mere dream
or maybe behind those gentle smiles lies a painful fact awaiting for you, that you were just a mere toy for him to pass his eternal time
yes, that might be true
you were just a human, an ordinary human who’s got more spiritual power to be a Saniwa, and he’s one of the Tenka Goken, the most beautiful tachi ever made
the fact that he seldom spend private time with you and prefer to be with the other Sanjou swords cemented the fact that you’re just too inferior for him
heck, you can’t even help but got jealous over his beautiful eyes and silky hair, not to mention his smooth and pale skin
when the night falls, you ‘talked’ to him
or more like, on your side, you were crying and half-yelling at him about how he’s only playing with your feelings and you knew that someday he’s going to leave you alone for a better person
him? he just stared at you, his dazzling smile was nowhere to be seen
and when you’ve finished pouring out all of your jealousy and insecurity to him, you turned away, attempting to leave
except that this grandpa didn’t let you, and he caught your hand, and effortlessly pinned you onto the wall
it’s really unfair that just a smile from him and your nerves calmed down instantly
“why did you think that I consider you as a ‘plaything’?”
a gentle hug and a soft kiss on your temple, and you broke into another sobbing mess
“the night is still young. do please let this Mikazuki Munechika shower this cute master with love.”
“do try not to get overwhelmed by it, master.”
you’re helpless when he dragged you inside his room
you knew that he’ll love you until the morning comes

detailed writer prompts
6. let’s say someone else was going to write your character - what are the main points of their personality that you would tell the other writer to focus on? what about outside of that? images/symbols/moments in their life/etc.
oh gosh-- well, this is a bit tricky to me? because it’s like... everyone sees characters in different ways, but i suppose i can answer this like someone asked me “what tips do you have for writing souza?”
one of the main things i like to keep in mind with him is that he’s fairly negative and pessimistic in nature. you can tell that just from looking at his lines in-game, and even in his game art i feel like there’s a sense of melancholy hidden behind his smile. he generally doesn’t look towards much of anything with a positive outlook, especially interactions towards others--and this is something i get from his interactions with the player/saniwa. he is consistently making little (and not-so-little, at times) hints towards how he doesn’t exactly trust the player/saniwa to not treat him like a possession. so i keep that in mind when i write his interactions with others; he acts out of intrigue or politeness for the most part, but doesn’t sit there and intend to form friendships or something
another thing that i guess i’d say is important to keep in mind thanks to hanamaru which i am eternally (knife emoji) about this, is the fact that he isn’t exactly filled with positive feelings towards his former masters. hanamaru was kind of trying to gloss over things and make things seem happy and fun because that’s generally what the anime was going for, but honestly i highly doubt that souza would just sit there and be like “hmm, nobunaga actually wasn’t that bad!” after all that’s happened to him. same goes for the others. i could go into a rant about that, but basically just keep in mind that he’s not all sunshine and flowers towards them.
and the last thing, i’ll just keep it to three i guess... it got intensified here in hive city for various reasons, but i don’t think that souza is opposed to dying like some of the other swords are. in his destroyed line he basically refers to it as “freedom,” whereas all the other ones i can recall express regret or distress towards the fact that they’re being broken. it’s gotten more intense here, as i mentioned, but i really can’t see souza as someone who would try to avoid death out of a fear for it, i guess if that makes sense? more like he avoids it just to avoid worry and making a mess for others.
anyways i’ll stop here on this question lest i write a huge essay, but these are just my personal opinions, and not like a “oh you HAVE to do these things” sort of guide.
7. what sort of medium do you think your character is best suited for (literature/film/graphic novel/etc.) ? if they are a canon, do you think there’s a medium that fits the character better than their current one?
honestly i’d say out of every medium he could exist in, literature seems most fitting for him. he reminds me of poetry come to life, in ways, and so putting him in works of literature where his dialogue and internal thoughts could be more vibrantly expressed in words would probably do him a lot of justice more than any other medium. i think both the game and the anime, while good (& bad) in their own ways, don’t exactly do him the entire justice that he could possibly receive, because he’s just so... detailed and it’s a bit harder to portray some things with the animation and just the game sprites. though having voiced dialogue so you can hear the tone of his voice and how he generally sounds when he’s speaking is a plus, so, it’s kind of a mixed bag.
8. what writers influenced the way that you yourself write? how so? are there any that influenced you negatively?
already answered!

Katsugeki episode 9 reaction
I wrote paragraphs about Mutsu again I’m not sorry.
I didn’t have a lot to talk about last time since it was all dialogue but my dudes we’re off to a good start today. I was hoping to see something of one of their former masters, Sakamoto particularly has always been a historical figure I’m fond of.
Mutsu’s fondness and his nostalgia pulls so hard at the heartstrings. It also gave us the curious although well assumed knowledge that Mutsu has very clear memories of his sword days. I want to assume not all sword boys have such clear memories and it differs from each of them. Also, Mutsu and Hori’s closeness is a pure and good thing.
I’m going on even more but can he has such a deep attachment to Sakamoto but still recognises it’s best to keep his distance. Not for a second (okay maybe for a split second later) does he lose track of the mission or get tempted to do what he wants. Other swords like Nagasone (recollection) and Yasusada (hanamaru) found themselves swept up by their desire to protect their former masters. Would Mutsu be having a tougher time if they were to defend the time of the successful Sakamoto assassination? Maybe, but I have faith he’d pull himself together and focus on the Saniwa and his desire to not fail another master. Kane says he’s just scared to face Sakamoto, that could also be true, it probably is part of it and part of why he thinks it’s for the best he doesn’t face him. That’s just what I thought in the beginning there’s even more on him below.
I’m going off on a long tangent since I love Mutsu angst but listen up. 100% I think he feels useless and like a failure for not having saved Sakamoto. It doesn’t matter to him he was only a sword; his master had relied upon him even in reflex yet he still died. How is he meant to face the precious master he couldn’t protect? Mutsu said he probably couldn’t stop himself from hugging Sakamoto if he saw him, but I reckon he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from crying or trying to apologise.
At the same time, right from the beginning I could see how this was not the right mission for the second unit. Kane still has some emotional scars; this mission is meant to help him regain his confidence but how can he when Mutsu is basically taking the captain role from him? Sure, Mutsu has knowledge which is valuable, but I had no doubt in how that would negatively impact Kane.
I think Kane wearing his haori felt a dumb move considering that a glance of it seen for even a second would have made things even more frantic for the joui guys but it worked out anyway. Can we acknowledge the subtle important of the scene where Yagen was ready to take on a bunch of enemies on his own but the Hijikatagumi joins him and remind him he’s not fighting alone.… I promised I would stop ranting on the lack of explanation for his development but yeah, he’s developed nicely is what that scene shows.
I didn’t expect them to have Sakamoto and Mutsunokami interact like this you guys this is the best episode yet. I said earlier I thought he wouldn’t be able to do anything but cry, Mutsu is obviously a bit tougher than I imagined as here he is torturing himself by protecting Sakamoto. The way he refuses to talk just shows his struggle with being near him. ALL THE SAKAMOTO AND MUTSNOKAMI INTERACTS HERE ARE SO PAINFUL YOU GUYS. He really did look like he was going to cry in that moment he looked away because he knew he’d have to leave Sakamoto, again probably thinking about his fated assassination.
Hori is struggling understanding something again but that’s the issue for next week I guess. I’m really happy with this episode damn. Mutsu is the saving grace of Katsugeki. I wonder if the episodes will next shift to the Shinsengumi and Hijikata particularly. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
(Also, that last part was some damn needed Tsuru-Mutsu interaction.)
