Madness is sometimes a necessary part of life

Image of Sanya Malhotra Lead in the Reviewed Film Plot: In the film, Sandhya, a young widow, is the subject of this movie. Five months after their marriage, their spouse passes away. She gains knowledge about how to manage her family. One day, out of nowhere, she noticed a picture in her husband's armchair. Who owns that picture? She begins to despise her consort after witnessing it. In her name, her spouse also obtained insurance worth fifty lakhs. For it, she gets a check. Will she leave the house to deliver a fifty-lakh check? Will she become less hateful of an espoused person? Or is she going to get married again? Will she and her parents go back home? You will need to watch a movie in order to respond to all of these questions. Theme: The Black Comedy/Drama Theme serves as the basis for this movie. In addition to this, it can be regarded as a quality parallel cinema production. However, in addition to providing entertainment, a film's goal is to spread a social message. Will women be able to freely consider their lives in our society? Will they be forced to conform to the will of a male-dominated society? Do women have to submit to men all the time? Acting and Characters: Sanya Malhotra's portrayal of Sandhya is excellent. Her ability to blend all the emotions—crying, laughing, pain, loneliness, anger, jealousy, and so on—is superb. Despite having a small part in Aakansha's role, Sayani Gupta's acting is impressive. She first lost her partner, and by not getting married, she effectively conveyed her anguish through her facial expressions. Sandhya's closest friend, Shruti Sharma, has additionally a fantastic job portraying Nazia. Sheeba Chaddha and Ashutosh Rana, who played supporting parts, both displayed facial expressions of their sorrow at losing their son. They kept that hurt in their hearts and never even told anyone how they were going to pay back the loan. Additionally, Raghuveer Yadav had strong acting abilities. Writer/Director: Umesh Bisht was the director of this movie. His first Hindi film is this one. He is in total command of the movie. His portrayal of a black comedy drama story, including how and how the characters tell it, is excellent. Furthermore, he was able to get exceptional performance out of the characters. Story and Screenplay:written by the director, who has total control over it. Powerfully, and it maintains audience interest. Nobody can predict what will happen next because of how strongly the characters are written. Dialogues: The film's dialogue is funny and has a great sense of humour. Cinematography: Rafey Mahmood's cinematography is exceptional, and Lucknow's has been shot beautifully.Everything has been expertly filmed, including the Ganga river scenes and the aerial shots. Editing: “There are no obstacles, and it's very clean.” The movie moves along at a decent clip, and the scene changes are superb. Background Score: It wasn't too bad. Production Design: An old house expertly designed. The Sound design is also magnificent. Music: Arijit Singh is directing music for the first time with this movie. Aside from this, the songs, such as “Thode Kam Ajnabi” and “Fire Fakira,” are well-made. Lyrics: Nilesh Mishra's songs have good lyrics. Climax: The filming is excellent. Viewpoint: Suggested for a Single View! (Those who enjoy watching unusual films.) Social Message: Girls are entitled to live their lives as they see fit and make the changes they desire. It is also impossible for the male-dominated society to force its will on her.  Appreciation: Sanya Malhotra's acting in this movie,has received a lot of praise from the gifted actress Kangana Ranaut. Facts: The scene where the grandmother rings the bell has turned into a perfect comedy moment. ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Fails to Make Oscars 2024 Shortlist-Telugu Funda

India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards, Laapataa Ladies, has been eliminated from the Oscars race. Directed by Kiran Rao, the Hindi-language film did not make it to the shortlist of 15 films announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) on Wednesday.

UK’s ‘Santosh’ with Indian Actors Secures Spot

While Laapataa Ladies missed out, British-Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri’s “Santosh”, featuring Indian actors Shahana Goswami and Sunita Rajwar, has been shortlisted. Representing the UK, Santosh joins other strong contenders such as:

What is ‘Laapataa Ladies’ About?

The film, known as “Lost Ladies” in English, takes place in a rural Indian setting during the early 2000s. It tells the story of two brides, Phool (played by Nitanshi Goel) and Jaya (Pratibha Ranta), who are mistakenly swapped during a train ride on their wedding day. The groom, portrayed by Sparsh Shrivastav, embarks on a chaotic search for his wife.

The screenplay and dialogues were written by Sneha Desai, based on a story by Biplab Goswami. The movie features additional dialogues by Divyanidhi Sharma. It is a feminist drama told with humor and subtle commentary on gender roles.

The film premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and received positive reviews after its theatrical release on March 1. It was produced by Kindling Productions, Aamir Khan Productions, and Jio Studios.

India’s History with the Oscars

India has had limited success in the Best International Feature Film category. The last Indian film to secure a nomination was Lagaan (2002). Other finalists include Mother India and Salaam Bombay!

Although Laapataa Ladies didn’t make the cut, Naatu Naatu from RRR and The Elephant Whisperers brought India Oscars glory last year in other categories.

Oscar Timeline

The final nominations will be announced on January 17, and the Academy Awards will take place on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Conan O’Brien.

Ram Karan Sharma was a Sanskrit poet and scholar. He was born in 1927, in Shivapur in the Saran district of Bihar. He died on 18 December 2018 in India. He has been awarded an MA in Sanskrit and Hindi from Patna University as well as Sahityacharya, Vyakarana Shastri and Vedanta Shastri degrees. He earned a PhD in Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley, under the guidance of Murray B. Emeneau. Sharma wrote in both Sanskrit and English. His literary works include the poetry collections Sandhya, Patheyasatakam and Vina, and the novels, Rayisah and Sima. Elements of poetry in the Mahabharata is considered his most significant work as a critic of Sanskrit literature. Apart from his literary works he has also translated and edited books on Indian medicine, epics, and Puranas. He also contributed research papers in various seminars, journals and books in the field of Indology.

SANTOSH - Premier long métrage de fiction de la britanno-indienne Sandhya Suri. Comme c’est souvent le cas pour les réalisatrices et réalisateurs venant du documentaire, c’est le sujet choisi qui a forcé Sandhya Suri à passer du docu à la fiction. En effet, pour elle, il était impossible de faire un documentaire sur la police indienne, peut-être faut il rajouter « honnête » à « documentaire », car il est certainement possible de faire un documentaire sur la police indienne si on s’abstient d’évoquer le sexisme, la violence et la corruption !

Si le but premier de Sandhya Suri était de parler de la violence faite aux femmes en Inde, c’est en partant de « l’affaire Nirbhaya », ce viol collectif, commis en 2012, d’une jeune femme dans un bus à Dehli, qu’elle a trouvé le moyen de raconter l’histoire qui la préoccupait : cette affaire avait engendré des manifestations de femmes dans le pays, des manifestations bien évidemment réprimées par la police.

Très vite, Sandosh se retrouve à travailler auprès de Sharma, une policière expérimentée au comportement ambigu : très dure avec les suspects qu’elle n’hésite pas à brutaliser, elle se montre très bienveillante avec Santosh chez qui elle se retrouve telle qu’elle était dans ses débuts dans la police...

Sandhya's closest friend, Shruti Sharma, has additionally a fantastic job portraying Nazia. Sheeba Chaddha and Ashutosh Rana, who played supporting parts, both displayed facial expressions of their sorrow at losing their son. They kept that hurt in their hearts and never even told anyone how they were going to pay back the loan. Additionally, Raghuveer Yadav had strong acting abilities. Writer/Director: Umesh Bisht was the director of this movie. His first Hindi film is this one. He is in total command of the movie. Cinematography: Rafey Mahmood's cinematography is exceptional, and Lucknow's has been shot beautifully.Everything has been expertly filmed, including the Ganga river scenes and the aerial shots. Editing: “There are no obstacles, and it's very clean.” The movie moves along at a decent clip, and the scene changes are superb. Background Score: It wasn't too bad. Production Design: An old house expertly designed. The Sound design is also magnificent. Music: Arijit Singh is directing music for the first time with this movie. Aside from this, the songs, such as “Thode Kam Ajnabi” and “Fire Fakira,” are well-made. Lyrics: Nilesh Mishra's songs have good lyrics. Climax: The filming is excellent. Viewpoint: Suggested for a Single View! (Those who enjoy watching unusual films.) Social Message: Girls are entitled to live their lives as they see fit and make the changes they desire. It is also impossible for the male-dominated society to force its will on her.  Appreciation: Sanya Malhotra's acting in this movie,has received a lot of praise from the gifted actress Kangana Ranaut. Ram Karan Sharma.

Ram Karan Sharma was a Sanskrit poet and scholar. He was born in 1927, in Shivapur in the Saran district of Bihar. He died on 18 December 2018 in India. He has been awarded an MA in Sanskrit and Hindi from Patna University as well as Sahityacharya, Vyakarana Shastri and Vedanta Shastri degrees. He earned a PhD in Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley, under the guidance of Murray B. Emeneau. Sharma wrote in both Sanskrit and English. His literary works include the poetry collections Sandhya, Patheyasatakam and Vina, and the novels, Rayisah and Sima. Elements of poetry in the Mahabharata is considered his most significant work as a critic of Sanskrit literature. Apart from his literary works he has also translated and edited books on Indian medicine, epics, and Puranas. He also contributed research papers in various seminars, journals and books in the field of Indology.
