Oh, My Darlin' Sam Collins x Reader Imagine
note: this was meant to be posted a lot sooner, but i struggled to be satisfied with the finished product. I've re-written this 3 different times and still am unsure about it so please let me know if you liked it by reblogging or interacting with me!
pairing: samuel collins x gn!reader
summary: post-quinn, tank has been trying to rebuild their social life and relationships with pack members. little do they know, their is one relationship david has been withholding them from kindling. when they make a surprise visit to solstice bar, however, the alpha's hands become tied...and the attractive bartender with the nice accent catches this wolf's attention — part of the pick your poison series!
warnings: mentions of alcohol, midwest emo band things, and protective alpha davey (he and tank are twins!)
wc: 1.8k
estimated reading time: 8.75 mins
“Sorry, I can’t let you in. We’re full.” David’s palm was inches away from Tank’s face. They suffered a momentary flashback of when they were kids and he would do the very same thing at their attempts to go on a rollercoaster they did not exceed the height requirement for, or trying to sneak into the theater for an R-rated film after buying tickets to a Disney feature.
“Seriously?” They quirked a brow, going as far as to crane their neck and view the barren parking lot. If not for her vehicle tagging alongside David’s, Milo’s, and one she hadn’t recognized upon her arrival, a tumbleweed blowing past would be fitting for the sight. “It’s 8 o'clock on a Tuesday.”
“Still busy. Asher’s here trying to kiss up to the staff to let him and Christian’s band play. Private meeting.” He scowls. While Tank enjoyed the live demos played before them, they understood it was not David’s favorite type of music. He doesn’t even label it as that.
“I’m sorry, but wasn’t it you who said I should stop secluding myself from others?” Their slow-building anger urges some prominent veins to adorn their neck. David’s eyes try not to linger on the piercing bite marks credited to Quinn, the sight of them still makes his insides wrinkle with guilt.
“I’m here to support the pack’s business. Here, maybe…” they pause for a moment to rifle through the knapsack hanging from their shoulder, “this will change your mind.” David rolls his eyes at their license photo staring back at him. Tank was arguably the worst pick for posing in pictures. If their eyes weren’t closed in the shot, the morsel of food jammed between their teeth was the focal point.
David merely glances at it and deadpans. “It’s fraudulent.”
Tank replies, “It’s not.”
“You’re underage.” He tries.
“We’re twins!” They scoff. “The fact that you’re older by a minute says nothing about my naivety, Davey.” The tips of the bouncer's ears scorching something rosy makes Tank hum in delight.
“I’ll…I’ll eat it.”
“David, why are you so set on keeping me from your hard work?” Their brows are furrowed, and much like the siblings' stubborn attitudes, remain unmoving.
The truth is, David would love nothing more than to share his second home with Tank. He and Milo built this place from the ground up and cranked it into a full-fledged business with some help from old connections of Gabe. The only thing stopping him from letting Tank in was…
“Sammy I promise you—“
“Call me that again and the deal is off.” The vampire’s rasp shoots out like venom, coating the room in a tense air.
“Alrighty, Mr. Collins,” Sam is nonetheless impressed with the alternate name—he releases an exhausted sigh to show it. Nevertheless, he allows Asher to plead his case. The younger of the two momentarily struggles to pull out the compact disc, and finally hands it to the bartender when he does. “Just give it a couple of spins through this week and see what your customers think. It’ll grow on you, I promise.”
“What in the hell is this drawing?” Sam brings the CD to his eyes to squint at the black squiggles across it.
“What drawing? That’s our band’s name!” Asher clarifies with a small laugh. For being known to have sharp senses, this drummer could have him fooled.
“And that would be…?”
“Howl’s Highway.” Asher flashes him a boasting smile. Sam only lets out an unimpressed grunt.
“Subtle name. Definitely won’t come back to bite you in the ass.”
“Sheesh, no wonder you and David get along so well.” Asher still has his roommate’s ten-minute-long speech echoing in his mind about how such an epic name was one step closer to a covert breach.
“What’s your intermission consist of? Shifting mid-set and running out all our returning customers?”
“Pfft, no..” Asher rolls his eyes, before shifting them down to the notes app on his phone and pressing the backspace button several times.
“Hey boys, hate to interrupt your top-secret meeting.” An unfamiliar face draws Sam away from the disc, and he’s enamored by their aura immediately. He can sense they’re a shifter, most likely a wolf by the way David looms behind them with crossed arms.
“Hey, look who finally emerged from their cave!" Asher chuckles and untucks a free barstool beside him. "Pop a seat, let me introduce you to Sammy--ahem, forgive me--Mr. Collins. This is one of our pack members, Tank."
“There’s no need for that. They’re just here for a plate of fries to go. Milo!” David alerts the chef. He hears a distant clatter, followed by a string of swears, and can only assume his colleague is checking his hair in the stainless steel frying pan yet again.
“On it!”
“I’d also like a drink for my trip over.” Tank raises a finger and seats themselves beside Asher on the open barstool.“Have you closed the deal yet?”
“I don’t know. Sam, have I?” Two pairs of eyes turn in the vampire's direction, but he only finds himself lost in one. A glance is enough to entice him, and though he’d never admit it, he’d be trying to recreate the exact shade of Tank’s irises in his dreams tomorrow morning.
“Yeah, why the hell not?” He mutters, never breaking eye contact with the new acquaintance sitting at his bar. “What can I get for you to drink, darling?” They feel an unfamiliar scorch of their cheeks at the pet name but do nothing to object to it. This newfound sweltering in the pit of their stomach is something they’ve only felt once or twice, and they’d be damned to extinguish it.
David, however, has different plans.
“It’s all good, Sam. I can make it. Go ahead and take your break.” David slinks behind the bar.
“But I just got here half an hour ago…” his southern drawl becomes even more present with the mild fear lacing his words. He becomes suddenly aware of how tense David’s stature is, and the clenched fists at his side.
“Go take a break or I'll cut you early. Understood?” David snarls, and Sam takes a step back towards the swing door of the kitchen. A few seconds go by before he concedes.
“Yes, sir.” He retreats behind the kitchen door, both confused and frightened by David’s sudden change in attitude. As he’s wandering the kitchen to find any leftover appetizers from the lunch rush earlier in the day, his ears perk up at the hushed voices from outside.
“What crawled up your ass?” He hears the Tank ask.
“Yeah, what did Sam do?” Asher jumps in.
“Nothing.” David insists. “What do you want?” Sam can practically hear the sneer in David’s voice, complemented by clinking glasses.
“Ooh, ooh, Bud Lite please!”
“I wasn’t asking you, Ash,” a few seconds later, the noise of air decompressing and a bottle cap being flicked is heard.
“I want the nice bartender back. He seems less… aggravated.” Hot as fuck, is also another attribute Tank associates with him, but decides not to indulge.
“Well the nice bartender just went on break, so it looks like you’re stuck with me.”
“That’s okay, I can wait.” Sam snickers at their persistence. Milo turns his head to see what’s so funny. Sam waves him off and clears his throat. Perhaps the fryer is so loud, or the bar is so slow, Milo couldn’t care less to acknowledge the commotion outside of the kitchen.
The wolf decides to break the silence when he brings the fryer baskets up from their grease bath and allows the fries to cool down. “Whatcha thinking for dinner? We’re fully stocked on everything from the truck this morning.”
If he answered honestly and told Milo he’d lost his appetite, that he just wants answers as to why David has a sudden vendetta against him communicating with this pack member, that would only result in more questions. Instead, he eyes the shifter piling a styrofoam box with freshly cooked and seasoned fries and halts him short of his walk out the door.
“Why don’t I send this out, if you make me a batch of those small hamburgers…the ones with the toothpicks in them?” Milo snorts, and genders:
“You mean sliders, Sam?”
“Yes, those. I’ll be right back.” He spares him a thankful smile, and cracks open the kitchen door to concentrate back on the trio’s conversation. Sam isn’t sure whether he should feel disappointed that the focal point of their chat was back on Asher’s band.
“Play track four—that’s my favorite!” The drummer suggests to David, who grumbles as he fiddles with the CD player stowed in one of the bar cabinets.
“What’s the name of the song?” Asks Tank.
“The Voices in the Basement Are Getting Loud Again and the Basement is My Brain.”
“…oh.”
“A side of fries to go,” Sam reintroduces himself by swiftly taking a seat beside the empowered person at the bar and offering them their still steaming box of food.
“Oh,” their tone morphs to something of interest as they readjust their body to face Sam with a pleased smile. “Didn’t you hear?” Without breaking eye contact, they undo the tabs of the styrofoam box and flip the top open with ease. “I’m staying to eat now.”
“Ain’t that somethin’,” says Sam, who harbors a pleased grin. David clears his throat, now towering over the two with folded arms and an unimpressed glaze over his eyes.
“It’s something alright.”
“David, come help me with the trash!” Milo’s voice beckons the Alpha to stand down from the bar and retreat to the kitchen, much to his dismay.
“Saved by the bell.” Sam jokes, before offering Tank a tilt of his head. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but…you seem like you can handle yourself in the face of trouble. Is he always this protective of his pack?” Tank’s fingers drum against the countertop as they ponder how to word their answer.
“He’s just been wary about me hanging around vamps lately because of…some trouble I got into. Let’s put it this way, the other guy had it coming.” Tank tilts their chin up, unintentionally revealing a few of the remaining marks left by Quinn. Sam doesn’t need to study them hard to figure out the vamp was feeding out of spite, not biting for their equal pleasure.
“I’m sure he did, messin’ with a member of one of Dahlia’s most reputable packs. Care to share this fella’s name so I can add him to my shit list?” He inquires.
“How about we share a drink first?” Tank smiles, before sliding the plate of fries closer to his direction. Eagerly, Sam plucks one from the platter and bites down on it, his fangs sparkling beneath the dim lights of the bar.
“I know just the one.”

"Life is a game, play it. ... Life is too precious, do not destroy it." - Mother Teresa
Spencer makes two cups of coffee in the break room with an extra shot of something good for you. He looks over at you to see you staring at your computer with a far-out look in your eyes. He hates this. He hates not being able to help you. Screw going to prison. He doesn't care that you didn't let you see him. He cares about what it's doing to you. Maybe it's best if you didn't let him see you. Maybe he might have seen something worse in your eyes.
He walks over to you and holds out the coffee for you but you make no move to grab it.
"I made you some coffee." You shake your head in response. "I promise you'll like it."
"Spencer, I said I'm fine," you snap.
The only reason your being short is because you're so fucking tired. Spencer doesn't let this bother him and leaves the coffee by your desk. This is breaking your heart. You hate this. You hate treating him like this when he doesn't deserve it. Prison ruined you and you're letting it affect everyone around you.
You watch Spencer go back to his desk and you sigh. You open your mouth to say something to him but you decide against it. You grab the coffee and taste it. Damn, this is good coffee.
JJ walks into work and passes by both your and Spencer's desks. She would stop by and say hi but she's on a mission. She approaches Hotch's office and waits for permission to go inside.
"I'm not sure what we have here, but I just got a call and some case files from Sheriff Samuel in Uinta County, Wyoming. Six nights ago, two different teens were found hanging In their bedrooms. Trish Leake was dead when she was found. Ryan Krouse was revived on scene but then died a few days later in the hospital. I know we don't handle suicides, but the previous Friday, two more boys a few towns over were found hanging on the backs of their doors."
"Four successful suicides in the same rural county in a week? That's way above the national average."
"I know. These kids don't fit the pattern. None of them had drug or alcohol abuse, no antidepressants, and no prior arrests. These are just plain good kids who decided to hang themselves at approximately the same time on a Friday night." Hotch doesn't say anything so she continues. "When someone feels trapped in what feels like a hopeless situation, pulling the trigger or swallowing pills or hanging yourself seems like the only way out. None of that seems to exist here. Something's wrong. Hotch, I can feel it. Look, all these events happened on a Friday. It's Wednesday. We're not on another case right now."
"Alright," he nods. "Generate an equivocal death investigation and get everybody on the jet. We will determine whether these are homicides or suicides. Even if they are suicides, there's definitely something wrong here."
When you get the news from JJ about the case, you meet everyone on the plane. Penelope is going with you for this one because Hotch knows there is a connection between these victims and the internet. She'll be useful going with you.
"Sir, it's not that I'm not glad to be coming with you, because I am, but I just don't understand the why."
"One of the aspects of an equivocal death investigation when suicide is a probability is an indirect personality assessment. Our victims are all internet-generation kids. There should be invaluable personal data on their computers to mine for the evaluation. If they committed suicide, evidence of it will be in their cyber world."
"So, I'm gonna snoop through dead kids' computers?"
"This plane seldom makes pleasure trips," Rossi chuckles.
"We've all been over the files. Let's talk about victimology," Hoch says when you're in the air.
"Okay, all four kids were decent students ranging from different neighboring towns but in the same school and the same county. All were active in sports and the community. Their families were intact with no mental disorders and no precipitating events."
"These are just average good kids. There has to be some underlying issue," Derek says.
"Besides relative proximity, there's no obvious connection between any of them. It seems to rule out an overt suicide pact."
"The first few days leading up to a teenager's suicide are usually very telling. Their behavior is transparent. There's a multitude of indicators," Spencer explains.
"Yeah, but the most common don't exist here," JJ argues. "There are no prior attempts, no period of deep depression, no withdrawal from family members, and no spontaneous proclamations of love."
"Spontaneous proclamations of love?" Penelope asks as she gets out her knitting stuff.
"Sometimes a suicidal person, in the days leading up to the act, will just blurt out 'I love you' to family, sort of like a goodbye. We'll start with the latest two victims. If they were suicides, let's find out what drove them to it."
The plane ride is going to last around four hours so Penelope knits to pass the time, and Emily takes out some sort of puzzle that piques Spencer's interest. It's a weirdly shaped 3D puzzle that can be taken apart and fitted back together. She takes it apart so that all the pieces are on the table.
"What's that?" he asks.
"It's called a star puzzle. It's basically impossible to figure out. You have to put all of the pieces back together to form a perfect star." Spencer grabs a piece to examine it. "The origin of it is kind of a romantic tale." Derek, Rossi, and Penelope listen to the story from their seats. "There was this young prince who wanted to win the heart of the fairest maiden in the land. He climbed to the top of the tallest tower in the kingdom and caught a falling star for her. Unfortunately, he was so excited that he dropped it. It smashed into all of these pieces so he frantically put it back together again to prove his undying love to her. He succeeded and they lived happily ever after."
"That doesn't make any sense."
"What do you mean?"
"You can't catch a falling star. It would burn up in the atmosphere."
You love Spencer. His words almost make you smile. Almost.
"Yeah, but it's not literal, Reid. It's a fable."
"There's no moral. Fables have morals."
"Okay, so it's a romantic little story. The point is, it's basically impossible to do because you have to take all of those pieces and put them together exactly--" As she talks, Spencer puts the puzzle together easily. He slowly puts it on the table and she sighs. He seems proud to solve it. "There's a lot to hate about you, Dr. Reid."
"Play poker with him sometime," Derek smirks.
"Try playing chess with him," Rossi says.
"Or Go," Penelope chimes in.
Spencer's spirit is dwindled a bit and you look at him to see a slight frown on his face. He feels a twinge of sadness. He knows his teammates are annoyed with how smart he is sometimes. However, feeling that sadness comes from him sets you off. It's your anger. It's how tired you are. You're letting it control you.
"Like you guys are any better," you snap at them. You look at Penelope. "You are always too happy." You look at Derek. "You always have some snarky comment to everything." You look at Emily. "You try too hard." You look at Rossi. "You are arrogant. We all have our flaws so leave him alone."
That sends an uncomfortable silence in the plane. You scoff and put your headphones in so you don't have to listen to them anymore. You're lashing out because you're hurt and scared.
"Sorry," Emily mumbles.
"No, don't be sorry," Spencer sighs. "She's waking up every night screaming and covered in sweat. She's scared and she's not getting any sleep. She didn't mean it."
"What the hell happened to her in there?" Emily asks quietly.
"She won't talk to me about it," Spencer shrugs. "She's writing in her notebook a lot but that's it. I hope therapy will help her because it's killing me to see her this way."
If you were at any other job on any other team, you'd be fired right now. They are doing their best to work with you and you're making it so difficult right now. No one says a word about what happened on the plane even after you landed.
"Hello, I'm Rhonda Samuel," the detective greets you when you get to the station.
"Hi, I'm Agent Jareau. We spoke on the phone."
"Thanks for coming out. My county's getting pretty shaken up. I got this reporter who won't stop calling. I'm holding him off but he's connecting the dots on the number of suicides. Should I call him back?"
"No, not just yet. We need to be very careful about when we release this information. Sensationalizing these deaths may cause a domino effect on other kids."
"The term is suicide contagion," Spencer says. "The spread of suicidal thoughts among a group of people that sometimes results in copycat acts. It's especially prevalent in teen cases, and studies suggest that media coverage is sometimes associated with more deaths."
"Is there a good place for me to set up?" Penelope asks.
"Yeah, but I don't have much of a command center."
"Oh, fret not. I have my own command center. I just need your juice."
"You got it," Rhonda nods.
"You're with me," Hotch says to you. "JJ, we need to interview the victim's families. We should start with Trish."
"They are expecting me to show up at their house. I'll gladly give that conversation to you."
"Come on."
Hotch is the boss. You and JJ follow Hotch to Trish's house to talk to her parents. There is nothing that suggests she was depressed from outside her house.
"Please, come in," Trish's mom says when you get there. She leads you into the living room where her husband is. "I can't believe she's gone. She was so excited about graduating high school next year. She couldn't wait for her SATs."
"Was Trish dating anyone?" you ask.
"No."
"Billy Sullivan," the mother says at the same time as the father.
"Is that who she's--"
"Yes," the mother sighs.
"What is it, Mr. Leake?"
"She ran up over $100 texting last month. We grounded her and took away her cell."
"Not we. Me. I did that. Why didn't you tell me she had a boyfriend?"
"Because you would have freaked out."
"No, I wouldn't."
"You are right now."
"Not because she had a boyfriend, because I may have caused--"
"Mr. Leake, if your daughter committed suicide, it wouldn't have been because of some punishment," JJ butts in. You sigh at her choice of words. If. "It's so much more complicated than that."
Both the mother and father look at each other and then at her.
"If?"
"Excuse me?"
"You said 'if' she committed suicide."
"Would you mind showing us Trish's room?"
"Sure. It's this way."
You look at JJ who looks guilty for suggesting that her daughter might have been murdered. You walk into Trish's room and see remnants of herself inside the room. She studied. She hung out with her friends. She got ready for big events. There is no indication--physical or spiritual-- that would suggest she was depressed. Not even close enough to take her own life. She was happy.
"Well, she certainly was accomplished," Hotch says when she notices her trophies and awards.
You grab her journal and start to go through it. Maybe there is something in here that will give you some sort of clue.
"There's nothing unusual in her diary," you say.
"Do you really have to go through all her personal stuff? She was such a private girl," the mother sighs.
"We are terribly sorry to have to do this. We care about Trish, and we want to make sure this doesn't happen to anybody else's daughter."
"Mr. and Mrs. Leake?" JJ stands by the entrance to the bedroom. "There's a form I need you both to fill out. Can you come with me?"
"If you need anything, please let us know."
"Thank you."
The parents follow JJ out of the room, leaving you and Hotch alone.
"There's nothing indicating that she was depressed here. She was a happy girl. I can feel it." You cling to that happiness and soak it in but it doesn't help you feel better. "Those poor people."
"I just hope we haven't made it worse for them."
"Could we? The personal touches show she was comfortable here. Not to mention what I feel and see. She's a low suicide risk if I've seen one. It's pretty obvious Trish had everything to live for."
"Maybe Garcia will find something on the laptop that we're not seeing here."
"Okay." You're about to leave the room and pause. You have to get this out. "Hotch, I'm sorry. I know I seem like such a disappointment to you."
"You're not. I can understand what you're going through. You have to realize we're only here trying to help so yelling at everyone isn't going to get you anywhere."
"I know," you nod sadly.
"I am more than happy to give you more time off if you need it."
"I'm afraid I won't come back if you do. I have to be here. If I'm alone, I'm reminded of that time."
"Okay. Please let me know if you need anything."
"Okay," you whisper.

Rating the most gayest King David adaptions
For the past few weeks, I have been watching and reviewing ALOT different adaptations of the story of King David from the Bible to determine which ones are the gayest.
But first, let me provide you with a recap of David and Jonathan's story.
David and Jonathan were two central figures in the Hebrew Bible, with their story primarily found in the First Book of Samuel. David was a ruddy shepherd boy who became famous for slaying the giant Goliath with a stone and a sling. Jonathan, on the other hand, was the son of King Saul, the first king of Israel. Jonathan's heart was captured instantly upon seeing the striking young hero. As the Bible says, “The soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David.” Shortly after their first meeting, David and Jonathan expressed their commitment by making a covenant with each other. This significant moment is vividly portrayed in 1 Samuel 18:3-4: "Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as his own soul. Jonathan removed the robe he was wearing and presented it to David, along with his armor, sword, bow, and girdle." David and Jonathan grew so close that it appeared they might one day rule Israel together throughout the following 15 years. However, they faced numerous challenges when King Saul grew jealous of David's popularity and success, fearing that David might take the throne from his family. Saul attempted to kill David multiple times, while Jonathan consistently came to his friend's rescue through various means. However, they were eventually forced to part ways. "And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the South, fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times. They kissed one another and wept, one with another, until David exceeded." Tragically, Jonathan lost his life in battle against the Philistines, leaving David in deep mourning. He composed a heartfelt lament known as the "Song of the Bow" (or what is famously called “How the Mighty Fallen”) to honor Jonathan and Saul's memory. "I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother; you were very dear to me. Your love for me was wonderful, more wonderful than that of women."
So, as you can see, I will rate each adaptation based on its portrayal of three specific moments:
Jonathan removes his clothes and makes a covenant with David.
When they have to separate from each other, as they embrace, kiss, cry, and David exceeds.
David's lament that he loved Jonathan more than women.
If these three moments are faithfully retained in the adaptation without altering the text, it will be considered queer in my evaluations. Naturally, there may be exceptions if the adaptation deviates significantly from the original material or if it primarily focuses on adapting specific aspects of the story while still hinting at or incorporating subtexts. In such cases, they may also receive points.
NOW, LET'S BEGIN!
Disclaimer: Some of these "reviews" will sound professional, while others I will act like a gremlin, because these movies actually broke my brain cells. So if you get whiplash from how my behavior suddenly changes all the time, consider yourself warned.
Another disclaimer: Don't be like me and do something similar to this... I don't think this was healthy for my brain.
Jonathan what now..? 1/5
So I'm going to be kind and bring up that the story of King David is long, especially if you make an adaption of his whole life. It's reasonable to expect modifications to accommodate the chosen medium. And frequently, this leads to Jonathan's character being sidelined, either because he's deemed less important or because there's too little time to delve into his role in the story.
Due to that, I won't delve deeply into those adaptions because of that.
Superbook Reimagined (2011) - CBN
Jonathan doesn't exist in Superbook... That all. I WONT TALK ABOUT THE SUPERBOOK.
David and Goliath - Animated Stories from the Bible (1985) - Rich Animation Studios
So this one is pretty interesting. Apparently the same studio that made The Swan Princess (1994) made the series called Animated Stories from the Bible. And I weren't aware of this while watching this episode, however I did noticed, that yes, this had a very low budget but you could tell that it was made by professionals. I have one thing I need to comment on this movie. Eliab and Jonathan looks pretty goooood...
I mean LOOK AT JONATHAN! FFF***KING HELL! HE LOOKS LIKE A HOT VILLIAN AND I LOVE IT! The character designs are sleek! Expect for David. David was trash. So why is this one so low down on my ratings? You see the episode only focus on the upcoming fight between David and Goliath. In a sense, the episode's emotional core are more about David and his brother Eliab, with the brother not believing that David could defeat the enemy. Jonathan has a really small role, and he doesn't really interact with David that much. However there is a scene, when Saul gives his armor to the shepherd and it doesn't fit him cuz he is a smol bean, Jonathan comments on that the boy is going to get killed while having this frustrating / angry tone. Indicating that Jonathan don't believe that David and of course get astonished once he triumph. But that is all we get. I wished I could rate this higher simply to I just love the character designs.
David - A Musical by Sound & Sight Theater
Alright, I'm going to say it. This is probably the most campiest and "we need to tell you about Jesus" - musical there is. The songs are freaking great, very modern, almost anime-ish and very EPIC! But then they suddenly they strike you with, "Hey do you know who Jesus is?" Anyway, my favorite songs of this musical is Never Back and Psalm 24.
I only listened to this musical on its recorded album. Overall, I found it very enjoyable! However, I was quite disappointed that they didn't have Jonathan none of their songs. There were no solos for him, and all I could do was imagine if there was a strip covenant scene or not between each number. They didn't even have a "We are best bros" song! They also removed a lot from the emotional core when David mourned the loss of Jonathan. David sings the song "How The Mighty Fall," which is very short, but for some reason, I really liked it. Even though it's short and David only repeats Jonathan's name over and over again, I could feel that sadness. Still, the musical also left out several scenes from the original story, possibly because it aimed to be more family-friendly and was very sanitized so no one would get upset. AND WHY IS THIS MUSICAL ENDING WITH JESUS?!!
David “the straightest man” and Michal his truest love that has ever existed before Bathsheba came into the picture and a lot of Shoulder Taps for Jonathan 2/5
Superbook (1981) - Tatsunoko Productions
I can't believe that I watched three episodes of Superbook... Can I explain this mess without dying inside? So, this is a Japanese anime from 1981. The series covers the events of the entire Bible in its 52-episode run. I watched the English dub, and yeah, what else can I say? It's probably the best dub I've ever heard, with genius acting, including their screams. You can tell they aren't really screaming because they know it will break the mics. To get straight to the point, their relationships are just good friendships, and they see each other as brothers. However, they do follow the story very faithfully, pun intended. But, of course, they add in more scenes with Michal so her relationship with David looks romantic, and Jonathan takes on a wingman role. There is no stripping scene, which is understandable since it's an animated series for kids. Instead, they merge the covenant scene with their separation. To sum it up, they shake hands and repeatedly tell the audience that they are only friends. Okay, we get it!
But then we have the Lament scene: "Oh Lord, may you have mercy on his soul. Your glory, O Israel, has been slain. How the mighty have fallen in battle. I grieve for you, Jonathan, my brother… My brother…" THEY WERE SO CLOSE! They looked at the rest, "You were very dear to me. Your love for me was wonderful, more wonderful than that of women," and then they were like CUT! But the best delivery line in this adaptation must go to Saul: "How stupid to believe he could murder a hundred philistines without being murdered HA HA HA HA!" I can't do this anymore…!
King David (1997) - Mondo TV
This Italian animated movie features child actors who can't seem to deliver a line without mumbling and speaking at the lowest decibel levels imaginable. Thank goodness that Kid David and Kid Jonathan grew up after… Let me check… The first 15 minutes of this movie… Well, they are childhood friends in this one, so I guess that's a win. Michal is from Sweden. Saul repeatedly tells his (also Swedish) wife to stfu in every scene he's in. Storywise, this movie shakes things up a bit. When David is chased into the wilderness, both Michal and Jonathan join him…? It's really confusing what's going on because the next moment Jonathan is back with Saul, hearing his plan to attack David in the mountains, so he runs back to David to deliver the news. All of this happens in about 3 minutes. But when they finally have their farewell scene, they, of course, do the Shoulder Tap! However, they hug with an animation that lasts for like 3 frames, and… you know what, I'll just let you witness this…
And then we have the Lament. It's pretty faithful, but as you guessed, they changed the last line from "You were very dear to me. Your love for me was wonderful, more wonderful than that of women." to "I loved Jonathan as a brother. We rode together, his hair flowing free in the wind." …I don't know if they made it worse or better…
King David - A musical by Alan Menken & Tim Rice
I acted like a fangirl when I realized that Alan Menken and Tim Rice had created a musical about King David! I was so hyped and really thought it was going to be really gay... I think I expected too much...
The musical premiered in 1997 and was a grand and ambitious show. While it may not be as well-known as some of Menken and Rice's other collaborations, such as "The Little Mermaid" or "Beauty and the Beast," I was blown away that this musical even existed in the first place. The music itself is really good. It reminds me of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" but more campy. My favorite is the song "The Death Of Saul." Genius! And of course, "Never Again," sung by Judy Kuhn. There are so many Disney stars in this show! It's insane! However, this musical is not without its flaws. The story's scope, which covers many events, can at times feel rushed or disjointed. The mistake that the creators made was trying to cover it all. So the musical has 2 acts. The first is about David in his younger years until he becomes king, and the second act covers everything from Bathsheba to Absalom's revolt, ending with kid Solomon singing about Jerusalem. This results in Jonathan becoming like a background character, and this makes me really angry. So almost every scene that David and Jonathan have together, Jonathan is replaced with Michal. TIM?! ALAN?! What are you two doing??? You are basically telling us, without explicitly telling us, that the relationship of David and Jonathan is queer by having Michal instead. Like... what..? This is the same guy who made "Jesus Christ Superstar," and that show is definitely "not straight", so I have no idea what's going on in his head. Anyway, Jonathan has only 1 song/melody called "You Have It All." It's when Saul shows that he's going crazy when David becomes popular, and Jonathan takes David away from the palace to a safe place. Sigh... You can tell by the lyrics that Tim is trying to be cheeky but immediately backtracks by having both David and Jonathan overly articulate the word "friend" in the song. (I seriously recommend you to listen to the song, just so you understand what I mean.) DAVID "I love my friend!!! as I love life and both I cherish. Uncompromising and unfailing. I swear this covenant we make will never perish. In any circumstance prevailing" JONATHAN "It's very hard when things come easy. You start to fear a bitter end. I promise you, you have a friend!!!" However, Jonathan gets a reprise again in the separation scene, but then Michal suddenly pushed Jonathan aside and takes it over with her own song. Then we have the Lament. The song itself is really good and beautiful. It's like a sad Disney song. But the lyrics themselves have this uncertain tone on who David is singing about. But they do reveal it at the end. "Jonathan... Jonathan... Who loved me more bravely than you, whether harlots or wives!" We can clearly see that David mourns over him. But for me, it feels so awkward...
They are just friends..? 3/5
The King: Story of David (2004)
I felt like I was on shrooms watching this. There's this three-minute scene where David sings to Saul... I can't even explain it, it's just horrible. Poor Saul looks absolutely horrified when this abomination of character design from a different show enters the room and sings with the voice of an adult woman.
AND WHY IS MICHAL PURPLE?! They also switch her name’s pronunciations like 5 times in this movie... Well, about Jonathan. So they took the approach that David is a literary child and had Jonathan as an adult… What the hell am I supposed to say about this? Oh god... I hate this.
Then David grows up, gets the same artstyle as the other adults and instead of Saul nagging David to marry Michal, it's David himself that asks Saul to marry his daughter, just to make sure that we know that he loves her soooo much. This results in Saul wanting to kill him, which leads to the separation scene. So maybe you are now asking me, why is this movie up here on the list? Looks like they made sure that David was the straightest man that has ever straightening. Oooh, I’ll get there. So we get to see a jpg of David and Jonathan look at each other for like 10 seconds, then tap each other on their shoulders, look at each other eyes and David says with the most sultry voice ever “Jonathan…”. Surprisingly, hug each other and weep. huh… didn't expect that. That voice that David used was enough to make the whole freaking movie a gay so that's why it's up here. If I ever have to watch this again, I need to get paid.
The Bible (2013)
Ah, yes, I remember this one. I watched it when it aired on TV, and I was just a wee little teen falling in love with the guy who played Samson. But we'll be watching the fourth episode of "The Bible Series." This episode was a speed run through the whole story of David, with a lot of stuff cut. Yet, the subtext in this adaptation is gorgeous! We have David walking to Goliath and Jonathan looking on with worry in his eyes—MULTIPLE TIMES! And miraculously, the actor managed to hit Goliath despite having the freaking sun in his eyes at full blast. That poor actor with his nonstop squinted eyes couldn’t see shit on set. Once Goliath is defeated, Jonathan and Saul run to David and are proud of him. All we get from the Covenant Stripping scene is Jonathan taking David's hand and telling him to come with him and fight the enemies, like best bros! Then a montage arrives, and David and Jonathan are older. Saul is jealous and touches David a little too much for my comfort. Meanwhile, Jonathan is just sitting on the floor eating figs. Wat?
And then Saul proposes the idea that David should marry Michal, and Jonathan's face falls. Gasp! David gets sent to kill 100 Philistines, and we get this wonderful scene with Saul and Jonathan. Saul: "You love him like a brother, don't you?" Jonathan responds with a warm, soft smile, looking at David riding away. "I do..." Saul gives off big "My son is totally straight" vibes. Sadly, this episode neither has the separating scene nor anything that resembles a covenant. And yes, they also skipped the majority of the Lament. Maybe I am projecting... I am probably projecting.
They are friends! I PROMISE! 4/5
King David (1985) - Paramount Pictures
This movie provides a different angle on the biblical story of David and Jonathan. The film includes a line that suggests a strong emotional connection between the two characters, though it doesn't explicitly delve into romance. It doesn't say that David and Jonathan are in a romantic relationship, but it makes you think that they have deeper layers to their "bond." In other words, I really ship them in this adaptation! They didn't have the strip scene, but they did have a scene where both of them are at a lake, water sparkling in the sun, looking into each other's eyes. Jonathan softly cups David's cheek and says, "I love you as I love my own soul."
... Wait, he touched his shoulder softly, not his cheek... Forget it. But they are very tender toward each other. However, we can't have great things because the separation scene was very weak. All we get is that they are both on horses, and then they just say goodbye, and that's it. No hugs, no tears, no kissing, and no exceeding David. But I can add that Jonathan's death was very heartbreaking. After watching awful animated death scenes, it was a breath of fresh air. The Lament, for some reason, had a spooky tune, not really like a man grieving for his soulmate. Why is this adaptation so high up for me? Well, Jonathan said "I love you" while looking into David's eyes with a beautiful natural background. That is enough for me.
Ancient Lovers 5/5
Beloved King: A queer bible musical
(There mentions of SA)
You can already tell by the name of the musical... "Beloved King" follows the young shepherd David as he is thrust from rural fields into the royal court. After his sudden rise to prominence, David finds himself the object of affection of both the heir to the throne, Prince Jonathan, and his father, the domineering King Saul, forcing David to re-navigate his relationship to love and power as he tries to follow the path laid out for him by a mysterious entity called God. The first-ever staged readings of "Beloved King," complete with all songs and live accompaniment, were scheduled for March 12th and March 13th, 2020, at Oberon, the second stage of the American Repertory Theater, in Harvard Square. Both events sold out well in advance, but they were canceled the day before opening due to COVID-19. However, the team rallied and quickly pivoted to film a dress rehearsal in an empty theater just before lockdown. One of the most hilarious things about this musical is that the characters are dressed in simple linen garments that look like they belong in a children's nativity school play, only to have David and/or Jonathan strip and expose their flashy sparkling spandex briefs. Undeniably, it fits perfectly with the nightclub-inspired atmosphere that this show has.
This musical feels like it's straight from the Archive of Our Own. Jonathan and David are dating, and we have a jealous Saul who is not jealous of David's popularity, instead, he desires him sexually and tries to bang him. When David denies Saul, that's when Saul tries to kill him instead.
The musical has all three scenes checked. The covenant scene, with Jonathan stripping and "more." There was a scene of their farewell, however, they haven't released that one song, so I can't really say anything about it yet. Lastly, the lament song in its full glory. Sadly, the whole musical isn't out yet. They have only released six demo samples, and let me say that "ADONI" is THE MEET-CUTE SONG!
This musical was the very thing that made me nerd out on the Bible again. So maybe I am biased, but how can I be biased if they depict David and Jonathan's first meeting with them banging each other in Jonathan's tent?
David et Jonathas: An opera by Marc-Antoine Charpentier
This one was a hidden gem I didn't know existed. Thank you @alatabouleau for the recommendation! It's an opera from 1688. It's all in French, so I was worried that I would have missed all of the lyrics, but I found a translation pamphlet and found one of the concerts on the live-opera Versailles website. All I can say is it was beautiful and so, so, so queer.
The prologue starts with Saul, disguised as a visitor, consulting the Witch of Endor to learn his fate in an upcoming battle against the Philistines. The Witch summons the spirit of Samuel, who predicts Saul's downfall, including losing his family and crown.
In Act 1, David, banished by Saul, seeks refuge among the Philistines. He returns from a victory and is praised by warriors, shepherds, and freed captives. David only wishes that, whatever may come, Jonathan should be spared. The Philistine king tells David that a truce has been arranged between the Philistines and Saul to discuss whether there shall be peace or war.
In Act 2, during the truce, David and Jonathan reunite. And then they both sing the song “A vostre bras vainqueur,” and it's the most beautiful harmonic song I have ever heard. It sounds so romantic, even if they are only singing about them being best friends. However, jealousy brews as Joabel challenges David to combat, leading to a plot against him. Joabel convinces Saul that David is a threat, leading to David's exile again.
In Act 3, Saul accuses David of treason, and David is forced to leave. However, Jonathan follows David into the wilderness so they can sing their goodbye, “Vous me fuiez!” Don’t forget this is an opera, so everyone is really dramatic, and I'm loving it. JONATHAN “You flee from me!” DAVID “You always follow me!” JONATHAN “May I not share my grief with you?” DAVID “See into what danger my misfortune leads you. Let us forget one another.” JONATHAN “Cruel one!“ The song continues with them singing about not wanting to be apart and if they see each other in the battlefield, they won’t fight, but instead save the one they love. And then the song ends with David trying to leave again, and Jonathan begs once more, only to be told by David: “Would you now wish to add to my torment with your tears?”
This song… I want to make an animatic of it...
In Act 4, Saul prepares to battle the Philistines and David. Both armies are eager for war, fueled by Joabel's manipulations. David promises to save Jonathan and his father.
And lastly, in Act 5, the battle unfolds, with Saul's defeat. Then the song “Qu’on sauve Jonathas” starts. Jonathan is mortally wounded, and David finds him. He believes that Jonathan is dead and mourns for him, which wakes Jonathan up to be able to speak to David one last time, asking: “What sad voice is calling me?”. David begs Jonathan for him to live, but the prince tells him that he can’t. And with his final words, he kisses David and then dies in his arms.
“Despite the harshness of my fate, At least I can still tell you that I love you. ” David is to be declared the new king of Israel, but he still grieves for Jonathan, ending the opera with his final line: “I have lost what I love. My Lord, to me all is lost.”
Well, I cried in my bed.
I didn't know that I needed a story where David was by Jonathan's side in his last moments in life. And the kiss! THE KISS! Though the kiss depends on which adaptations you see. If it's 2022, then there is no kiss, but if it's the 2012 version, then there is one. However, with or without a kiss, it's still romantically tragic.

The Prince's Psalm: A novel by Eric Swan Quinn
So here it is, Beloved King: A queer bible musical was the one that pushed me down into the rabbit hole but The Prince's Psalm was the one that got me stuck here. I highly recommend this book, and it leaves me speechless how it isn't more popular! So The Prince’s Psalm is a queer and romantic retelling of the story of David and Jonathan from the Bible. The book begins with David's childhood, providing perspectives on his early life and relationships, especially with Micah and David’s family. Micah and David had a deep friendship that grew into young love and they became each other's firsts. A core theme that comes up regularly in this novel is about being treated and viewed as equal in a healthy relationship. Micah held a weird place in my heart. I enjoyed “not liking” him. I could immediately see his immaturity in his relationship with David. Of course, I understand they were both young and immature, yet this was important to emphasize the message, which I believe it’s about being equal in a relationship. Micah loved David, but he saw him somewhat beneath him due to David not fitting the stereotypical masculine man image. And every time they "play" with each other Micah calls David "My Slave" despite David's irritated and uncomfortable of it. So the moment when Jonathan is introduced, the first thing he calls David is "My Prince" and do everything that David wishes Micah would do for him but wouldn't. If we are going to compare Jonathan and Micah, it's pretty obvious which one are the right choice. But who cares about Micah, we are talking about Jonathan and David now! So the plot follows Jonathan summons David, hoping on his musical talents to aid King Saul's from being tormented by “evil spirits”. David's initial experiences within the palace only reinforce his sense of inadequacy in the eyes of those he admires and cares for. He plays tirelessly, day and night, in an effort to soothe the king's troubles, ultimately healing King Saul's fears of God’s abandonment. From that moment forward, Jonathan can no longer resist David's charms, leading the two to become inseparable. As they spend a winter together, their bond deepens, uniting their bodies and souls. The novel doesn't delve into explicit sexual scenes, instead, it focuses on the emotional connection between the two characters. Nevertheless, they do have quite a lot of intense passionate sessions, it just written with a flowery language. So their oath, the exchanged rings, the beautiful yet sad promises, is heart moving. Every moment felt perfect and captivating! Jonathan's death left me shattered. I cried a lot. And cried even more when the book included the whole Lament. After devouring all 480 pages, I found myself wanting the story to continue. Eric Shaw Quinn made a wonderful job in reimagining the familiar narrative yet adding new in depth layers to it. I wholeheartedly love this novel! So is it gay? Yes.
THE END!
Finally, I have finished everything. There was more, but there is no way in hell I will continue.
What did I learn from this experience?
Nothing really, except that the people whose arguments claim that David and Jonathan's relationship isn't romantic at all, yet in the same breath, they can replace Jonathan with Michal, and suddenly it is romantic. I learned that their arguments are worthless at the core.
But despite with the pain and cringing, I loved nerd out about my favorite David and Jonathan adaptations! And I think I did this just because of that.

Cosmic count exceeds expectation: Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer on ISS reveals surplus of cosmic rays
Cosmic rays confound scientists once again. The latest analysis of data collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) on board the International Space Station has revealed a surprising surplus of cosmic rays made of deuterons—atomic nuclei made up of a proton and a neutron.
The finding, described in a paper published in Physical Review Letters, adds to the growing list of unexpected results from the space-based detector, which was assembled at CERN and has detected more than 238 billion cosmic rays of particles of various kinds since it started taking data in 2011.
Cosmic-ray particles fall into two main classes: primary and secondary. Primary cosmic rays are formed in cosmic sources such as supernova explosions, whereas secondary cosmic rays are produced in interactions between primary cosmic rays and the interstellar medium.
In its latest study, the AMS collaboration investigated data from 21 million cosmic deuterons detected by AMS from May 2011 to April 2021. Examining how the number, or "flux," of deuterons varies with rigidity, that is, particle momentum over electrical charge, the AMS team found surprising features.
Deuterons are thought to form in the same way as helium-3 nuclei, in collisions between primary helium-4 nuclei and other nuclei in the interstellar medium. If that is indeed the case, the deuteron-to-helium-4 flux ratio should be similar to the helium-3-to-helium-4 flux ratio.
But this is not what AMS sees. By contrast, the AMS data shows that these ratios are notably different above a rigidity of 4.5 gigavolts (GV), with the deuteron-to-helium-4 ratio falling less steeply with rigidity than the helium-3-to-helium-4 ratio. In addition, and again defying expectations, above a rigidity of 13 GV the data shows that the deuteron flux is nearly identical to that of protons, which are primary cosmic rays.
To put it simply, AMS has found more deuterons than expected from collisions between primary helium-4 nuclei and the interstellar medium.
"Measurement of deuterons is quite difficult because of the large cosmic proton background," says AMS spokesperson Samuel Ting. "Our unexpected results continue to show how little we know about cosmic rays. With the coming upgrade of AMS to increase its acceptance by 300%, AMS will be able to measure all the charged cosmic rays to one percent accuracy and provide an experimental basis for the development of an accurate cosmic-ray theory."

Code of Ethics - Ch. 47 - Mouse and Cat
I had a little bit of an emotional post-holiday meltdown. Fortunately, it was contained and a nap got me out of the worst of it.
Diane joins a team to the planet's surface to find the mysterious person who sent the distress signal.
Preview below the cut:
Her musings landed on her interaction with J’Jesi. It wasn’t that it was a bad interaction, it was, in fact, quite enjoyable. The problem was it was yet another indicator that she was getting a bit too invested in her character. During the discussion of the loss of the engineer’s parents, Diane had almost said ‘the war that cost us our parents.’ As in, Diane telling the NPC that she was commiserating with that she had lost her parents in the war. As a cover for her identity in-game as a Lost, it was perfect. No family, no real connection to ‘her’ native culture, appropriately tragic so people would stop asking questions beyond the surface level, and perfect for giving her a reason to be completely clueless about certain aspects of life in the 27th century in the middle of a very populated galaxy.
The problem she kept coming back to in her musings was that...she would have meant it.
She’d heard of this kind of thing, of course. She was a spook, a spy, and she was presently in the middle of some of the deepest cover ever created. Any agent that had to go undercover at all was given training for it, and some of that training included cautionary tales of agents who’d slipped a bit too deep into their cover, who’d have to be reminded of their true allegiance and purpose.
Agents who let themselves slip too far into the fantasy.
It made sense that she’d be in danger of it here, in this game that felt so real she had to have gynecological checkups for anatomy that was so biologically accurate that it gave her cramps and extra laundry to do once a month. For all intents and purposes, she was in The Future™ and well out of touch with her superiors. Yes, they were just a tap of the ‘log out’ button away, but until the auto-logout, she could simply...be Diane “First Found” Somni’els. If she just let herself really sink into it, she could forget about being Dylan Samuels entirely and embrace being...well, everything she’d ever wanted, even the parts she never knew she wanted.
She could be a legend, the start of a legacy for the homeworld of her people, a race that was strong and powerful from birth and yet had such compassion built into their culture that unquestioning acceptance was simply a thing they did. She was the First Found Daughter. No other Morvuck had ever held that title, and no other would again. She was already able to wield enough political might to redirect an entire trade route through the galaxy from her homeworld to her station. Her relationships were headline making, her decisions affected hundreds of people, soon to be thousands, and the feeling like she’d become Sani’s older sister would be as natural as the sun rising.
Or she could be an agent in the American Republic’s intelligence apparatus. Operating in the shadows, hiding in the ‘net, and never, ever making connections. She had no friends who weren’t people she worked with, and the number of those she trusted with more than a surface-level connection she could count on one hand.
She could be Caitlynn’s girlfriend, exploring the relationship between them in ways she’d never dreamed possible for someone like her. The emotional connection, the feeling of affection that almost hurt when she and Caitlynn would spend the evenings after dinner discussing whatever struck their fancy before retiring to the bed and connecting in other ways. The sex was incredible and she had no doubt that she’d miss it in ways she didn’t have the words to express.
Or she could go back to her apartment in Houston, make a meal for one, and go to bed alone.
She could be a woman, a Morvuck woman, capable of both impregnating someone or becoming pregnant herself. She could, in theory, go with Caitlynn to a fertility clinic and work with a specialist to make their genetics compatible with each other and freeze an egg or three for both of them and have children together.
Or she could be a man in the American Republic. Maybe she...he would find someone to marry, eventually, but having children? That simply wasn’t something that an agent could do. There was too much leverage an enemy could use if an agent had children. Too much opportunity for an agent to be too embroiled with challenges on the homefront.
She could be the Slayer of Slavers, the woman who ended Coxand’s reign of terror, business woman extraordinaire, and commander of one of the thousands of seed stations that dotted the galaxy.
Or she could be The Reaper.
And that was the crux of the matter, really. She had made choices in her life that led her to be known as someone so lethal that her online identity had become synonymous with Death itself. The problem was, of course, the anthropomorphized manifestation of the End of Life was a divine entity, an Angel of God with perfect insight and heavenly mandate. That mythical entity didn’t make mistakes.
And Dylan had. ‘The Reaper’ had taken the life of a child and snuffed it out. Possibly more than one, she hadn’t had the emotional strength to restart the holo-environment of the mission logs to confirm how many were juveniles (and to figure that out she’d have to dig into what the difference was between a ‘child’ S.A.I. and an ‘adult’ S.A.I., something else she hadn’t had the fortitude to investigate), because even just the sure knowledge of the one was enough to send her spiraling into depression.
Was it any wonder, really, that she’d begun to lose herself in her cover?

I have come to bother you for any details on your Fairy Tail Self Insert you'd be willing to share because I am staring. At Samuel my beloved little freak guy. As your Exceed Companion. I would love to know more.
Okay, so when I watched FT for the first time I had a S/I and Natsu was my F/O too, I don't remember it much because I was like 10-13 also ofc now a lot things changed so yeah, my current S/I is different than my first S/I. So when I started rewatching FT of course I had to think about what kind of magic I want to use. I wanted to be a dragon slayer and my fav element is water, but if my S/I is part of the team Natsu (so one of the 'main character') then I didn't want to make myself a water dragon slayer because of Juvia. Okay, then something else that I like - since I was a child I was fascinated by space so I thought it would be cool if I could be a dragon slayer connected to the stars. Then when I was looking at wiki I saw that in fact there is already canon moon dragon slayer magic (and I literally was thinking between moon and stars XD) so I thought I'll go with it and then when I start watching 100 years quest and I'll know Selene (since I didn't know her character at that point ofc) I'll connect my backstory and magic somehow with the canon story so it'll make sense. My S/I backstory is pretty vague because of that and I need to read more of the manga (I finished watching everything but I need to catch up with manga). I think either Selene manipulated me and taught dragon slayer magic or I can learn it from someone else, like idk her mother (if she canonically doesn't appear) or it can be someone from another dimension. Okay so I (my S/I) joined Fairy Tail about 1,5 year before the plot began. I bonded with Natsu quickly because we're both weird and audhd, also I remind him of Lisanna so yeah. It's also why Mirajane is my found family big sis/big sister figure, I love her character and I like to think she likes to treat me as her younger sibling (btw also in my S/I world Lisanna didn't come back because I think it's just better for the plot). Oh also Natsu was breaking into my apartment first, I mean it was 'breaking' at first but I'm clingy so he was breaking consensually if that makes sense XDD After he met Lucy he still spent most of his time at my place but he also was breaking into her place. And I'm also breaking into her apartment sometimes because I want to be with Natsu (and Lucy is my bestie too), so in general we spend a lot of time together (I mean me, Natsu and Lucy). About Samuel, ofc I wanted an exceed, in his first appearance I found him annoying but I really liked his character development and he became one of my fav exceeds and since he's "free" I decided that I want him as my exceed. Also like, me and Natsu would make too much chaos so Sammy is the one who tones me down and is the responsible one XDDD And he's cool. I see him as a bit of tsundere, like he would be so annoyed with me all the time but he would genuinely care for me. After the 7 year timeskip I didn't have a place to stay so I stayed at Natsu's and since I thought about living together before, it just stayed like that. Tbh I don't really see Samuel in his house so he built tiny house literally next to his, so we're like, basically live at the same place but he has his own separate space in which he don't have to endure our chaos XDDDD I ship Sammy x Lily so I see Lily coming into his tiny house a lot, and since Happy lives next door he spends with them time too, later Happy brought Carla (even tho she didn't really want to XD) and it's how Sammy's place became a place of exceed's meetings XD I also totally see Gajeel fighting and arguing with Natsu about Lily spending too much time in our place XDDD Ohh also about the dragon slayer magic, even tho I'm first gen I'm not like rest of the first gen (I wasn't in their program and I didn't have a dragon sleeping within me) so when I joined Fairy Tail I already started to dragonize and I learned transformation magic from Mira so I can be in human form, later I completely dragonized so I'm basically a dragon but I keep being in my human orm since ofc it's the most convenient, I sometimes change into my real dragon form in fights tho.

Current policy on "problematic" actors
Follow up to the issue I brought up in this post
This is subject to change, but I'm currently going to do the following: omit actor name and link to this post.
I include and tag actor names not just for practicality, but also to celebrate them. One of the main reasons I'm doing the One-off Character Tournament is to highlight people who did the most they could with tiny roles.
I don't think that discussing & enjoying (primarily minor) characters from thirty-some years ago is significantly supporting these actors (unless you're doing something like paying for autographs/meet-n-greets). However, I don't think the same can be said for spotlighting these actors behind these performances (like I normally do).
This is not a perfect list. It does not intend to be. There are probably many people who are privately terrible whose transgressions we will never know. Likewise, anyone can make allegations (though rates of sexual violence far exceed false accusation rates). I am erring on the side of caution and only doing complete censure for extreme, undeniable cases. Examples of criteria include:
was convicted in a court of law or has otherwise has well-documented evidence. Hearsay can be truthful, but it is so bountiful that I will not be basing a full decision on it.
has a direct victim (I'm not going to censure someone just because they were convicted of money laundering or something)
did a something that can't be undone. People can change. Bigoted statements can be recanted, but people can't be un-assaulted.
I am currently doing this for the following individuals:
Doug Hutchinson who groomed and married then sixteen year old Courtney Stodden. He was fifty. Their divorce was finalized nine years later in 2020. Stodden has accused him of emotional and physically abuse. Hutchinson played Eugene Victor Tooms on the show.
Scott Bairstow who plead guilty to the second degree assault of a child after being charged with second-degree child rape. His Alford plea acknowledged he "assaulted the victim with intent of second-degree molestation." The victim was a twelve year old girl related to his ex-wife. Evidence in the case included a sealed diary and a police-recorded phone call (reported transcript here), both of which discussed a "big secret" they shared. Bairstow played Samuel Hartley on the show
I am posting these details separately because I feel posting them in the original posts would understandingly overshadow the poll. I want this blog to be a place of enjoyment and I'd rather be able to go in depth into these topics individually than to have this content be a footnote in the main post.
If you think that someone ought to be added or removed from this list, you can let me know and present your case. I make no guarantees. Just because someone is morally despicable does not qualify them for this list, it has further, unique requirements.
List of individuals I find immoral, but will not (currently) be censuring. With a good enough argument, I could be persuaded otherwise
Shia LaBeouf (allegations of domestic violence and s*xual battery, including willful transmission of an STD)
James Franco (allegations and admittance of s*xual misconduct)
Victoria Jackson (homophobia, general bigotry and conspiracy theory espousal)

What kind of relationship would Samuel have with his father in roulette
obviously not a very good one since his dad is physically abusive
tho i think despite the bad blood, sam still has a (perhaps subconscious) desire to meet/exceed his dad's expectations, almost like trying to prove he can be a better person than his father by excelling in school & sports
