Joking about SalEddie is all fun and games but it would honestly be fucking hilarious when you think about it.

You have two characters who everyone thinks should be together, two other characters that were incredibly sus in two episodes six seasons ago and somehow these four characters would make two couples but not in the way anyone would think

This awesome gifset by @vanmarkus gave me a new idea for a fic 🥹

Ok but imagine, Sal and Tommy have always been the best of friends and often when Sal and his wife gave an argument he ends up on Tommy's couch. With time they joke about him having his own drawer and letting clothes at Tommy's. His favorite jacket is one of those clothes. He ends up moving away from LA with his family and forgets the jacket, so he tells Tommy to keep it as a souvenir.

Of course Tommy wears it. A lot. It smells like his best friend whom he might miss a little too much. He wears it so much the smell disappears as well as his feelings. It becomes his jacket, the "new Tommy" jacket. A jacket Buck finds really hot on him. Tommy thinks it's also hot when his boyfriend wears it so he lets it happen. And it makes Buck feel loved and important, like Tommy cares enough about him to let him wear a part of himself.

The jacket is at Buck's place after the breakup and Buck can't imagine letting go of it at first. 'til one day anger takes possession of him and he throws Tommy's stuff in a box and calls Eddie, telling him to give it back to Tommy. But when Tommy sees the box and the jacket he starts to cry, and refuses to take anything back. Eddie doesn't know what to do but he knows the two men love each other and might regret losing it all. So he keeps the box at his place. After a few days he takes the jacket and wears it because he can't find his own.

The jacket is cool and big enough for him and it smells good and it's warm enough for him. So he wears it, telling Buck his loss is another man's gain. Until one day Sal is in town and he sees the jacket on Eddie's shoulders. He recognizes it and goes to Eddie, asking him who the fuck he is and why the hell is he wearing it. And Eddie can't speak because what the fuck is happening??

during the bucktommy wedding on episode 9x11, sal and eddie are gonna meet, the enemies to lovers trope will happen on our screens, and all this fandom bullshit will be resolved.

lol I kinda hate this one but I’m going to stop agonizing over it and just release it into the wild.

As the hostess led them to their table, Buck's head swiveled scanning the room until his gaze landed on who he was looking for. 

Eddie met his eyes at the same moment. 

“Buck,” Eddie said incredulously. 

The man with him turned around, and Tommy let out a shocked sound. 

“Sal?” he asked, tilting his head, bewildered. 

“Tommy,” Sal replied dryly. “Well, now that the introductions are out of the way…” Sal trailed off looking at his date. 

Eddie looked furious. “What are you doing here?” he demanded. 

“We were in the neighborhood,” Buck said, shrugging innocently. 

Eddie arched a brow. “I picked this place because it's three hours away from any of our neighborhoods, Buck.” he said disbelievingly.

(I'm holding onto this idea) Post S7 Saleddie with widowed single dad of one Eddie with the burden of his life falling apart after trying to please his parents and extended family meets divorced has-his-2-daughters-and-1-son on his off days dad Sal at Buck and Tommy's first time hosting the 118 fam and Tommy's close friends at Tommy's place.

(Sal and Gina did get married, they were actually engaged when they saw Twilight together. Their marriage wasn't pretty, but also nothing traumatic, and it really broke during the pandemic and they separated late 2020. Gina was, at least, willing to work their custody plan around Sal's shifts and he has babysitters for when shifts go over and stuff. In 2024, he and the kids are in a really good place and he's not in any rush to get a stepparent for the kids, while Gina is engaged again. The kids are 13 and 10, girls, and 6, a boy. Bailey, the 13-year-old, is super good at gymnastics, worldbuilding from my Tommy-comes-out-to-Sal fic)

And of course it's a different situation, Eddie knows, but when he meets Sal through Tommy he's jealous. At how Sal just doesn't care about getting into something serious or feel any pressure to provide a stepmom for the kids in the slightest or anything. Sal and his three kids are a complete unit, especially around Tommy. They don't have to prove anything. They're a family.

And in the wake of Kim and losing Chris, that looks like the surface of the water while Eddie's drowning. And he asks Sal how he does it. Sal just laughs, says the kids are all he needs, and really, he has no time, and if he did have any more time, he'd accept the 122 Captain position, Diaz. And why do you look like you're about to have a breakdown?

(Because it's so easy for Sal but Eddie feels like he just has to give everything up for Chris, has to give him a mom, has to give his parents a new daughter-in-law.)

And Sal helps him ease up on all that thinking, but somewhere between it all, they start falling, but it's this slow gentle thing, and Eddie wants this. For himself. For the first time, it's not about Chris or his family. Only he's met Sal's kids several times at Tommy's and normally Sal and Gina would never introduce their kids to a partner anywhere near so soon. And Eddie is terrified that Chris will feel replaced when he comes home. And Sal hardly has the time-had the time, but he'll prioritize Eddie-, and Eddie is broken, but maybe. Maybe when he's completely broken is the time to actually find something real.

Idk just some. Thoughts. On single dads. On Buck and Tommy's best friends falling in love. Of a big home with four(Or maybe more) kids running around.

“Pushed?” the man snorts. “You were nudged by a puffy pink purse. I think it’s time to lay off the tequila.” Eddie does not dignify that with a response. Instead, he downs another shot. The arm that saved him from face-planting into the bar reaches out and Eddie finds himself a little bit fixated at the hair peeking out at the guy’s forearms where he’s rolled up his sleeves a little.  He watches the old asshole steal his last two shots with nothing but a dry gulp, unreasonably focused on the way that a few drops escape those pale lips and get caught in the beard on their way down a fairly sculpted chin. Maybe he really did drink too much, it was getting way too hot all of a sudden.  “You with the lovebirds?” the guy asks as he slams the glass down on the counter, nudging his chin towards where Buck and Tommy are somehow still making out. Do they not need to come up for air at some point?

Wip Wednesday

so i'm wrting karaoke scene for last chapter of fratboys au and it run away from me and now it's not so about bucktommy for now as about saleddie (I will give them some attention in their own fic in this universe later)

“Wait, you have a kid? Cool!” Sal’s happy voice is taking Buck back to conversation. “How old is he?”

“Eight,” Eddie smiles and takes his phone from his jeans, showing it to Sal, who sat near him when Maddie and Chim went to order a song for them to sing. 

“Oh, he’s adorable. Just like his dad,” Sal smiles at Eddie, leaning a little bit closer, and Eddie melts. 

Buck definitely will talk with Eddie about it.

“Do you sing? Wanna sing something with me?” Sal asks and Eddie nods. “Good, let’s go!”

They move to the stage, where Chim and Maddie are almost done with their song.

Buck swallows, dreading what he can do while he’s alone with Tommy, but takes his full attention on the man, who already looks at him with such a pretty smile he wants to cry.

“Do you think Sal and Eddie …” Buck doesn't know how to end this question, but knows Tommy got him.

“Sal’s definitely flirting,” Tommy says, drinking his beer. “And I’d say Eddie is … doing something. Is Eddie actually straight?”

Buck looks at how Eddie blushes when Sal whispers something to him before choosing the song and he actually has the same question.

“I think the question is: does Eddie still think he is as straight as he was when he came there and saw Sal with his lumberjack beard or not.”

Tommy laughs immediately, but Buck tries to keep a blank face, but gives up and laughs so hard he needs to hide in his hands, when his body shakes from the laugh.

Wasn’t That Drunk [SalEddie]

If Sal’s being completely honest he doesn’t know why he even agreed to come to Tommy’s New Years Eve party. It’s not like he’s got anyone to kiss at midnight and the farther into Three Alarm the better his odds are of running into Eddie and whichever lucky bastard has taken his place in Eddie’s life.

185 days ago Sal woke up and blew up the best thing in his life. He can’t even remember why they broke up in the first place. He knows they’d argued about something but for the life of him he can’t remember why. It must’ve been over something stupid like most of the things he bickers with people about.

Maybe he said something to set Eddie off. Maybe it was a bad shift or a million other things but whatever it was he wants to go back in time to kick past Sal’s ass for hurting Eddie like he did.

So now he’s standing in the men’s room trying to fix his hair and make sure he looks good enough to maybe convince some poor unsuspecting fool into going home with him later.
