July News Round-Up

It’s round-up time! Below the read more is a compilation of some notable news stories that we haven’t previously posted about.

This month features mixed news for NMB48, multiple graduation announcements, a few disbandment announcements, and more.

AKB48

According to Billboard JAPAN’s mid-year sales report, AKB48 is the Best-Selling Music Artist of the year so far. They are at the top of both album and single sales. [x] In addition, Hiwatashi Yui is taking a temporary break from the group in order to focus on her studies. [x]

Anisong World Matsuri New York

This year's line up of female performers includes: Luna Haruna, Shoko Nakagawa, TRUE, Konomi Suzuki and the highly anticipated Morning Musume '18! This event will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom, November 16-18. For more details including tickets and other events click HERE .

Beboga!

Following extensive talks with both members and staff, it has been decided that Beboga! will be disbanding. The group will part ways following a final live on September 23rd. [x]

BiS

The new line-ups of BiS 1st and BiS 2nd have been decided. Following a voting competition, the most popular 4 were placed in the 1st team, and the remaining 6 are in the 2nd team. [x]

Dorothy Little Happy

The final member of the original line-up will be graduating from the group by the end of the year. Takahashi Mari has been the sole member of the group for a year, and still acted as a solo singer under the group’s name. However, she will be changing agencies, and thus will be parting ways with Dorothy Little Happy. [x]

Babyraids JAPAN

Babyraids JAPAN announced that the group would be disbanding on September 29th of this year. Their sited reason for disbandment was that the members did not have the same ideas for the future. [x] We wish the girls the best of luck in their future endeavors.

FRUITPOCHETTE

Fear not fans of FRUITPOCHETTE, the group slipped a small message that the original line up is back. Their first live will be on August 10th. [x]

Hello!Project

Hello!Project is holding their first autumn concert event series in October! H!P has consistently only held concert series in the spring to coincidence with Hinamatsuri (girls festival), so these are the first of their kind! The two concerts will be held October 20th and 20st. More details can be found HERE .

Kaqrioyo Terror Architect

Two new members are joining the group! Their names are Sentonamidamaru and Sumomo. Their debut live was July 29th. [x]

Keyakizaka46

Imaizumi Yui has been cast in the upcoming drama, “Koi no Tsuki.” She will be playing Sakaki Satoko, and presumably her absence from the 7th single’s senbatsu is partly due to her obligations with this role. [x]

NBM48

Former member Watanabe Miyuki is gearing up for triumphant return to the entertainment business. She will take the stage again in September with 2 live shows. An official website and fan club have been revealed as well. [x] Her hiatus was likely due to the NMB48 contract issues that were revealed in a previous story, which banned graduated members from the entertainment industry for 2 years after leaving the group. [x] On the opposite side of things, Ando Erina and Okita Ayaka have announced their graduations. Ando will officially leave the group in August. [x] Okita will graduate at the end of September. [x] In a final twist of events, Yamamoto Sayaka founding member and captain of Team N, has announced her graduation on July 30th. She has not provided an official end date, but it will be announced via official SNS. She hopes that her departure will allow the other members to grow more. [x]

NGT48

Takahashi Mau has announced her graduation. She will officially part with the group by the end of September. [x]

Nogizaka46

2nd generation member Kitano Hinako will be returning from her hiatus. She took a break due to poor health in December 2017. She began participating in some activities in March of this year, but will officially return to the group for the 21st single. [x]

PokeLIVE

PokeLIVE is a a new service that offers fans the opportunity to have a live phone conversation with a select group of idols. The conversation is 30 seconds long with an automatic hang up. We will not list specific idol groups that are participating nor our opinions about the service. We can report that it has been met with mixed opinions. ReAlice

ReAlice quietly announced their disbandment on twitter this month. [x*] We wish the girls the best in their future endeavors.

SKE48

Earlier in the month, it was announced that Matsui Jurina was taking a hiatus, effective immediately. She will be taking a break from AKB48, SKE48, and Produce48 activities in order to seek medical treatment. This includes the AKB48 single that was supposed to feature her as center. A time frame for this hiatus has not been announced. [x]

STU48

Due to the rains and flooding in Southwest Japan, STU48′s second single has been postponed. The release was scheduled for August 29th, and the new date has yet to be announced. Their theater opening has also been delayed. [x]

TPE48

The Taiwanese sister group of AKB48 is undergoing some changes. Following the end of their contract with TPE Entertainment, it has been decided that the team in Taiwan will be under the banner of AKB48 Team TP instead of TPE48. [x]

New Voice Actress Band PsȳChē to Make Their Major Debut This Spring

Victor Entertainment has announced that five-member anime voice actress band PsȳChē (pronounced Pu-Shu-Ke) will make their major debut in the spring of 2020. They were formed for the girls band story franchise "Watashi no Aishita Hana no Na wa." (The name of the flower that I loved was.) in the record company's newly-launched label "Fun & Games."

  The band's five members are playing the high school girls in the voice drama included in the web radio program "Watahana. Radio!," which has been streamed on Cho!A&G+ every Saturday at 16:00. The characters in the drama and the four-panel manga "Watashi no Aihsita Hana no Na wa. Mini" serialized in Monthly Animedia magazine are directly inspired by the voice actresses themselves.

The members will wear the same school uniforms as their characters do. Prior to the event, one of their songs, "Watashi no Aishita Hana no Na wo," which has been used as an insert song for the radio drama, will be available digitally on February 5.
