I’m making a Goku cosplay mainly out of crochet. So far I’ve got a tail, his blue shirt, his belt and I’m working on his Gi.

None of the costume will be fully accurate because I’m putting my headcannons in as well.

SAIYAN TAIL BODY LANGUAGE

I wish we had more media showcasing the body language of saiyan tails. Only having the classic, the minuscule amount that appeared at the beginning of Z, GT (which isn’t even considered canon), and the smallest amount that appears in DBS: Broly. That may read out like a lot, but it’s actually very little

-I didn’t forget about SDBH but that ain’t canon, and most of the time they’re scrapping so we only get to see how the tail would swerve around while in battle, not really the body language side of things

No matter, I still analyzed (to the best of my ability) all the media showcasing the body language of Saiyan tails, and compiled it to a chart of sorts for myself so I could keep tabs on consistency for my art whenever I draw the silly tails

It’s extremely brief and messy of what it could be, but I thought to share it with you guys. Maybe it could provide useful for some

It's been a while since I've done anything Dragonball related, but here's this really fun Saiyan OC I got to draw!

I'm sure it's been discussed at length already but I think it's easy to assume saiyans are strong so their genes are dominant but I (like to) think it's the opposite. It's interesting to think that the ecological nature of a saiyan is stealthy and invasive, and according to Jaco a saiyan invasion was going to be extra dangerous to earth because they look like earthlings (and a lot of other human-like races in the db universe) and one baby saiyan will easily go completely undetected until it starts the extermination process.

so it actually makes a lot of sense to me that a saiyan hybrid would take more physical traits from a local species, while maintaining the potential to house a saiyan's strength and inborn power over ki (which I think due to the story following a group of people who use it is a thing we often forgotten is a super rare and dangerous ability in that universe, and inborn/instinctive to a select few very powerful races). Could also be a fun way to explain why their tails can detach and grow back, since that may be the only real Tell.

because like yeah gohan and goten look like goku but they also look like chichi ykwim? trunks and bulla look like bulma. pan looks like videl. thoughts i chew on.

I also just find parasitism a real good meaty horror concept to put in my little 'this is why everyone's afraid of saiyans' headcanon file along with 'can see in the dark, biologically strategic energy consumption, can go long periods without food or rest' and of course the canonical 'surprise monkey werewolf kaiju'

Hi!! I'm Alex. If you're okay with suggestions of which canon character to draw, how 'bout 4-year-old Son Pan from D.B.'s Epilogue? Pan is an underappreciated character (for that matter, so are all the canon gals except for Bulma and 18; it'd be nice to see fanart of any D.B. gal doing something that makes her happy).

excuse me, of all the dragon ball lore I was forced to absord through osmosis over the years how was "the boy child is a were-monkey that accidentally killed his own grandpa" never once mentionned???

Some au situation where Goten ends up stuck with Turles and Bardock for some reason some time shenanigans or something like that. This Goten would be from the timeline where Goku Black killed him and Chichi but he didn't die just ended up here instead, meeting two other men that look like his father but are much less forgiving. I feel like I could work on Goten's design more but otherwise I found it quite fun giving him like the end of Z mullet but with the main goku haircut still being there. The colours are inspired by one of his GT outfits. Bardock is the tallest then Turles then Goten. I'm interested in how they'd all get a long with Goten having such a different personality and background to these two... also Goten being super saiyan and how they could use that to their advantage along with his ability to sense ki.
