horror symbols: crucifixes
In horror movies, crosses are often used as protective charms or magical weapons against supernatural enemies, but in horror movies critiquing catholicism, it could relate to a character a tramua of theirs and what is being used to scare them.

Me: I hear your argument that the title character in Saint Maud is narcissistic, and I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think that is less important than that she's lonely. The choreographer she's in love with says so, right to her! For a lot of people, when they're desperate to believe in god, it's not because they want a security blanket, it's because they want someone omnipresent who loves them. If you lose your faith, that comfort is very hard to get back, so you're stuck between abandoning it all and going forward alone and forsaken, or miming the actions of a true believer and desperately hoping you can fake it till you make it. And meanwhile the rest of the world just doesn't get why you're making such a big deal out of this, and in Maud's case, even viewing her with pity or laughter. In the real world, we just have to accept this as part of life and stumble towards wherever our spirituality goes, but if you're the main character of a psychological horror movie-
Some horror movie youtuber whose house I've broken into: I'm calling the police.

Love Rose Glass just putting little bits of the fantastique into her work. How both Maud and Jackie have their body morphed in just slightly inhuman ways. Maud’s mental illness and Jackie’s steroid use effecting how the audience sees the events of the story. I just think her work is neat
