When will the full game be released?
The release date for the full version is still to be announced. I work on this visual novel in my free time, so progress may vary. Currently, the project is in its early stages, making it difficult to project a completion date. As development progresses and I get closer to finishing, I hope to have a clearer timeline.
Is MC really in a hospital?
It is intentionally ambiguous whether the MC is truly in a hospital. The absence of nurses and Dr. Anselm being the only one attending to the MC are deliberately meant to provoke player suspicion. This mystery and the setting’s true nature are meant to unravel in later chapters.
Where did the MC's pee go?
The MC has a urinary catheter, a medical device used to drain urine from the bladder into an attached collection bag.
Urine collection bags connected to a catheter are typically changed every 5 to 7 days.
In the later chapters, there will come a time when Anselm has to change the MC's peepee bag.
Does MC actually need a urinary catheter?
In cases of severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), a urinary catheter may be necessary, especially in the early stages of recovery. TBI can lead to a range of symptoms, including impaired mobility, cognitive changes, or decreased control over bodily functions.
Also MC was unconscious for 2 days before waking up, catheters are commonly used for unconscious patients.
Will MC ever take a shower?
Yes I was planning to use this as content for later chapters.
Fun fact : Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) patients in hospitals usually do not take showers independently, especially if they are in a critical or unstable condition. Instead, they are often given sponge baths or bed baths by staff to maintain hygiene without moving them too much, which could be risky. huehue

Yes, absolutely! There will be an ending where MC and Anselm end up together. These endings will naturally come at the game's conclusion, and as I get closer to writing the finale, I'll have a clearer idea of how many good and bad endings there will be in total.
Was Anselm the one to cause MC's injury?
So this mystery is also to be unfolded in the later chapters. I hope readers understand that this visual novel has mystery/horror elements, there wouldn’t be much of a story if I revealed everything outright (ᗒᗨᗕ)
Does Anselm love the MC or just taking care of them?
Anselm's heart belongs entirely to the MC; they're the only one he truly loves.
Is Anselm a dog or cat person? or any other animal?
Anselm doesn’t usually keep pets, as he’s often away and lacks the time to care for one. But if he and the MC were living together and the MC wanted a pet, he would happily bring one home and enjoy caring for it together with them.
If he could, Anselm would create a beautiful bird terrarium—a place where he could observe them freely within a controlled space. There, they’d be safe, unable to leave but he alone is able to admire their beauty.

Yesterday marked one year post Cauda Equina Syndrome diagnosis, and I had lots of cuddles from my Frenchie puppy because she knew I was upset. Then I went swimming (did my physio exercises, some walking and a tiny bit of "swimming") and walked around part of Decathlon with my mum and nieces. In the afternoon I drove (driving using hand controls rather than my legs feels so natural now) to my friend's and we went to Nando's and had a great time (and I showed off my new CESCI beanie). Then I did my first solo shop at Lidl in my wheelchair (and got soaked getting it in and out of my car).

I was stared at by lots of people whilst using my wheelchair, but I'm proud to use it. Being ambuplegic isn't bad, so why should I care if people comment on me moving my legs or getting out of my chair and taking it apart to put it in my car? Yes, I can walk, but it hurts, and sometimes isn't safe (like yesterday when it was raining badly and Lidl's floors were very slippy and I could've fallen if I'd gone in there on my crutches).
Now I'm in a fair bit of pain and pretty tired after such a busy day (for me, I did 1,342 steps and 1,501 pushes, smashing both my targets). Another positive is that I've been out of the house for the first time in months without wearing incontinence pads and not worried about having an accident because my bladder is getting stronger using the flipflow valve on the catheter, and the Peristeen bowel irrigation is working.

Now just to get through all the emotions today (and the coming week) is going to throw at me since it's the anniversary of my L5/S1 decompression (the surgeon said they were only able to remove about 80% of the compression off my spinal cord) and discectomy. And the potential PTSD caused by my stay on D8 at QMC Nottingham, especially after they nearly killed me with a latex catheter despite knowing about my latex allergy!

4. Is there a kind of whump you wish you could write better?
As I recently discovered with @redwingedwhump, the hardest thing for me to write is actually recovery arcs. Stories that have slow, emotional pacing and tend to be more driven by internal conflict than by external forces. I'm thinking specifically recoveries where the character(s) are already somewhere stable and safe, and are having to come to terms with things that already happened to them (instead of facing ongoing re-traumatization at the hands of the Plot).
And don't get me wrong, I still do enjoy writing slow, heavy scenes where not much physically happens! They're just as important to the story as a whole, and they can be a LOT of fun to read. But I can only write them in the context of shorter scenes within a larger story, where the emotions serve as a pause from the forward momentum of the plot. When those emotions are meant to provide the momentum on their own...that's when my skill set tends to feel stretched. (For the time being!)
12. What is one of the strangest things you have had to research for your whumpy writing?
Oh man... that's a hard one, because I don't really consider any of it strange. Niche, yes. Unusual, perhaps. But my deepest research dives have been into what it's like to live as an upper-limb amputee. Or into what medications are most useful for treating Long QT Syndrome, or what having an ICD go off feels like. Or alternatively, about foods and wildlife found in and around the ancient Syrian desert. Or about laqabs (that one was fun). None of it is actually strange, it's just about understanding the experiences of people whose stories we don't get to find unless we go digging.
25. What advice or wisdom would you like to share with other whump writers?
Take advantage of occasional unsanitary descriptions! Don't be afraid to make the things that happen to your characters be embarrassing and gross! I know we all love the pretty kinds of pain, but I feel like we shoot ourselves in the foot by leaving out the stuff that's gross or humiliating. If your whumpee is crying themselves sick, let them get snot on their face! If they just had a near-death experience, let them realize that they lost control of their bladder! If they're being kept like an animal in a cage, let them face ALL the consequences of ending up without a bathroom!
Those descriptions can each be incredibly brief, but just acknowledging that they're happening at all brings the whole story back to reality. If you go too long without them, your suspension of disbelief starts working against you. The whump your character is going through starts to seem oddly natural. Until suddenly there's something there that gives you just that tiiiiny jolt of "....oh. Oh god. It really is that bad, isn't it?" that truly renews the horror of what you're reading. There aren't many things that can have such a big impact on the overall reading experience of your story in so few words.
And besides, when you find various ways to take away the dignity of your characters (and I mean ALL of your characters, not just your whumpees), it's SO FREEING. You learn that you don't need your Aloof Dignified character to be aloof and dignified 100% of the time. And that in fact, when you find ways to take that defining trait away from them and they still come back to it after, that makes the character trait ten times stronger than it was before. Perfection kills personality. Humiliate everybody, and you'll see what they're actually made of.

Sad story time: Subject, my kitty Lily.  I adopted Lilly in 2020 from a local shelter. It was prime covid time, and I was only able to see her picture and see her on video calls with the foster parent before I was able to take her home. Siamese and a bit of house cat within. Her blues eyes are just so big and filled with curiosity. She warmed up pretty quickly to the house and me.  I was so excited to have her here. My very own adopted cat. I made sure to get everything she needed, and asked all the right questions. I was the perfect house  for her, in my mind. No children, nice and quiet, and I was so ready to just make her life happy, comfortable, and very ready to bring her on as a new member of the family.  Shortly after her arrival, however - about three months, to be exact - she began to exhibit weird signs. Twitchy skin near her back. Licking the back area compulsively, wagging her tail in irritation, and seeing things that weren’t there. At first I attributed this to extreme separation anxiety. My vet agreed. We tried everything to make her more comfortable, but the standard things that worked for other cats were not working for her. She began to pee habitually in my basement living room, and in other areas I frequented - mostly where her litterbox was. I was dumbfounded. We checked for urinary tract infections. Bladder problems. Thyroid issues, overweight possibilities. These were many vet visits over two years of trying to understand what the hell was happening with my cat.  Naturally, she wasn’t always running scared or trying to bite my legs off. On good days she would be the most comfortable cat I’ve seen, happily sitting in my lap and purring, playing with toys, and just being her beautiful self that I knew her to be. She was protective of me, and loved to monopolize my company. My perfect nap buddy (she still is).  Finally, after two years, my best friend linked me an article to FHS:  Feline hyperesthesia syndrome (FHS) has also been called rolling skin syndrome and twitchy cat disease. FHS generally involves muscle contractions that your cat cannot control, along with changes in behavior. It���s very broad, and poorly understood. I thought that I had an answer to my cat’s woes.  Gabapentin has literally been the only way to alleviate her symptoms. And so many things could be the probably cause. I know she doesn’t have allergies. So its highly possible its psychological in nature. Which requires a very. very expensive pet visit that I no longer have a job to pay for.  Due to her urination, it has caused a lot of damage to the newly finished basement that was competed in 2019 (and  where I live). I’ve been given until the end of march to somehow fix this. And chances are, if I don’t find a permanent solution, I would have to put her to sleep due to the nature of her symptoms. I can’t trust another adoptive family with this cat. She is not a normal cat, and needs heightened help. Help that I’m so willing  to give, but I do not  own the house I live in.  I love her so much. I don’t want to let her go anywhere. I want her to feel safe, and loved, and wanted. I just don’t think until the end of march  is enough time to really figure out what she needs.  I’m just... very sad. And upset at myself. Could I had prevented this from happening in some way? Could I have done more? Will she somehow pivot from a habit she’s formed and has done for two years in counting? I don’t know.  If anyone has advice or ideas, I’d love to know. Or if you have an FHS cat that is comfortable... I need something. My area is just... not really an area with an abundance of cat behaviorists and vets that can come to the house.  I just want her to have the chance to be the happiest cat there is. And I don’t have a lot of time left. And I hate it.
