Long standing muse: Saell

Saell has been through many variations. She's always been a 'reaper' OC and for a while didn't have a good solid FC. She's initially was a 'futa' oc to mix it up from my typical female's only, but over time i've adapted her to being intersex which is where she's at now.

Her first 'big' FC update came when a certain pink haired reaper V-tuber came onto the scene. She'd always had pink hair in my mind so it was perfect for her. But now this simply represents her younger years because a much better scythe wielding FC has become popular.

And if i'm going off young/mature versions of her this will be when she is the reaper. Death's right hand in charge the big targets, but more importantly keeping other reapers in check.

What does she have to do with most normal mortal muses? ... Very little TBH. She doesn't need to interact with them, but boy does she love girls. Meaning she's often finding reasons to visit the mortal plane in order to have some fun.

She does however like to visit those who have a high body count, and get to know them so if Y/M is a bit gay, and has killed people... She's interested.

I am feeling strangely ... content with my writing lately, like I think I’m in a good headspace where I feel like it’s something I do just for me, just for fun, so with that in mind, here are the last 10 bits of randomness that make &/or made me happy recently.

1. Stay tuned on this Channel!! - Mystic Messenger (707 x MC; one-shot)

The kitchen was basically in the same state Olivia had left it in. Dirty but not dreadful. The sink was filled with dishes, but the surfaces were still clear, and it seemed as if all of the rubbish had made it into the bin while she was gone. Setting the takeout on the bar top, she regarded the clothes scattered in heaps around the large, open room with curiosity.

2. Thump. Thump. - Mystic Messenger (707 x OC; ongoing)

The convertible top was down, and the afternoon sun was really hitting them hard for early fall. As the light cycled back to red for the third time, Seven noticed he was gripping the steering wheel tight enough to turn his knuckles white. He flexed his fingers a time or two. Then he pulled out his phone to call Chloe.

3. Blueshift - DAI (Cullen Rutherford x f!mage Trevelyan; ongoing)

For the last several hours, Evelyn and her team had been pouring over the most recent batch of data in a pathetic attempt at passing the time. Exhaustion had finally settled in, but honestly, that was a drastic improvement. There for a bit, the four of them were about to bypass hangry and enter something close to hunger fueled rage, but thanks to Rylen’s latest fling, the potential bloodbath had been averted.

4. Ghosts - Mystic Messenger (Saeran Choi|Ray x MC; complete)

Ray knelt at her feet, and his fingertips traced the shape of her leg. She didn’t know what exactly she had done to him until it was too late. It was not something that she looked back on with fondness. But this broken, abused man now belonged to her.

She arrived on the first day of spring with raven black hair and skin like alabaster. She wore a false cheery smile that only further conveyed the discontent she really felt.

The Resistance was irretrievably over; everything that could have been done had been done. He had never thought they would succeed, only a fool would believe they could, but he had never thought he would live to see the day the last Theirin was wiped from the face of Thedas.

Seven jolted awake. The sheets beside him were chilly but rumpled. There was the smell of something savory hanging in the air. He let his gaze touch on the few personal items scattered around the room, lingering on her coat draped over a nearby chair.

It had been eight days since Olivia last went for a run around the neighborhood. Earbuds in, music blasting. Her body thrummed with excess stress, and she wondered if Seven would concede to letting her go out to burn some of it off.

Okay, so I learned about this site and just for fun, I’m gonna try to make up a fantasy religion/mythology based on what it gave me. 

Here’s what I got; my own take below the cut. (Note that I used some of the other generators for aspects of this, particularly the Fantasy Name Generator.)

Creation Myth

In the beginning there was  Erunn and the great monster Paidak; in form he was like a man mixed with many beasts. Paidak took Erunn as his wife by force, and their children were many of the monsters that inhabit the world. Erunn cried bitterly and from her tears came Chaph, the gray-clad god of sorrow. Erunn then took a bone, sharpened it into a knife and used it to castrate Paidak. From the blood emerged Koskah, god of lust and creation. He slew his father and dismembered him. Various gods emerged from Paidak’s body, and together they created the world from its pieces. Most notably, one of his eyes became Ilinn, goddess of the sun and day, while the other became Saell, goddess of the moon and night.

Now the gods were divided between those who wished to live on top of Paidak’s body, in the upper world, and those who wished to live below it, in the underworld. Koskah desired to make both Ilinn and Saell his wives; knowing that both wanted to live in the sky, he declared himself king of the upper world and demanded that Chaph take the world below. Ilinn, however, chose to marry Chaph, which is why she descends into the lower world to be with him at night. Among their children is Maphai, god of knowledge and alchemy. 

Koskah married Saell and had many children, among them Kais, the mighty warrior and god of storms. Kais slew many of the monsters that Paidak had spawned, and Koskah created animals to replace them. Ilinn, angry at him for forcing Chaph underground, fashioned the first humans to rule over Koskah’s beasts. In vengeance, Kais fought with her and drove her out of the sky. The lack of sun almost doomed the world, however, and Ilinn only relented at the behest of her daughter, the fertility goddess Feyrae, who in turn became Kais’ wife. 

Role of the Gods

Koskah, ruler of the upper world, is naturally the deity most relevant to human life. He is the giver of life and fills all his creatures with desire and creativity. He has several wives and is always seeking women, but ironically rarely succeeds, as his chief wife, Saell, is always either by his side or watching him from the sky. Even on moonless nights she has handmaids, the stars, on guard. Stories where he does cheat tend to be tragedies (The Rape of Elead, The Fall of Oriz); many commentators note the lesson that such passion, while necessary to live and thrive, must always be channeled in the proper direction. 

Chaph rules the underworld. He is friendly with humanity and continually mourns for their troubles. His son, Froskic, is the gatekeeper of his realm. The righteous are allowed to enter Chaph’s city, but the wicked are left outside the gates; it is bitterly cold there, as Ilinn, the sun goddess and queen of the underworld, only goes to the city with Chaph. Froskic also bars entry to the living, though the great hero Sykr managed to get past him.

The creation goddess Erunn does not appear in many myths, but she remains a major deity. Ilinn is also revered as the creator of humanity, as well as for her solar aspects. 

Maphai is another son of Chaph and Ilinn. He guides mankind in its pursuit of knowledge and science. He also creates the magic mead that keeps the gods young. The serpent, which sheds its skin to regain its youth, is sacred to him, which is why it is a symbol of holy knowledge. (Many believe the religion’s use of amber originated with the mead.) His wife, Aelell, is the goddess of art, specifically the tile murals that decorate the religion’s temples. One of their sons is Mannoeo, patron of the clergy. 

Many myths involve Kais, the storm god, slaying monsters and walking among humans. As he travels, he brings the powerful storms that make it possible to grow crops; any traveler who appears in the rain is suspected of being Kais in disguise. His wife, the fertility goddess Feyrae, sometimes accompanies him.

Rorocli, the messenger of the gods, often frequently interacts with mortals. She can appear as either a young or an old woman, but is recognized by her left eye, which is blind and dim. 

Religion

Aside from their purely religious duties, clergymen devoted to the Upper Gods are expected to divide their time serving in the military, reflecting the virtues of bravery and selflessness towards the people as a whole. Those of the Lower Gods are administrators in charge of historical records, as well as those who pursue the arts of alchemy and magic.

Priests of the Upper Gods will dye part of their hair; those of the Lower Gods shave most of theirs off, generally leaving a sidelock (which may also be dyed, depending on regional custom). Depending on their rank, the clergy wear a symbol of a gibbous moon, representing Saell, with a different body part of Koskah. The High Priest of a given cult is in charge of choosing which young men from the community are worthy of being trained to join. 

The priests are expected to have large families but few luxuries; despite their prominent role in the society, their lifestyles are fairly Spartan. Reflecting the focus on family, there is no divorce and passing along inheritance is seen as a sacred rite, taking up most of the focus during one’s funeral.

This culture is often seen as being very formal due to the taboo on outward displays of affection, a consequence of the ideal that desires be carefully channeled instead of allowed to run free. In contrast, festival days are known to be openly joyous, throwing off the stoicism prominent the rest of the year.

Some of the major holidays include:

The summer solstice, dedicated to Ilinn in her solar aspects.

The winter solstice, dedicated to Ilinn and Chaph in their cthonic aspects.

The anniversary of victory in the Burning Wars.

The anniversary of when the poet Krua entertained Kais, hearing the story that would inspire The Fall of Oriz.

The anniversary of when Sykr entered the Underworld and brought back the Water of Wisdom.

The anniversary of when King Jekerai took the throne. This is also the day when all boys who turned 18 in the last year come of age.

Hey Saelle! I absolutely loved the Tears of Time - you're a tremendous writer and it's obvious that you plan out your writing with a lot of thought!

I basically binged the whole thing lol, wish it wasn't over! But all good things come to an end, and their ending was both beautiful and hopeful...what more could I ask for?

Do you have any plans for any more Rengoku fics? I would read it without question ☺️

I'm not sure if you read "The Tears of Time" directly on Tumblr or on AO3/Quotev, but I just released the Epilogue chapter on Tumblr (I... forgot to post it here, oops). So if you haven't checked it out yet, feel free to do so :3!

In the upcoming days, I'll be sharing a revised version of a polyamory Rengoku/Kamado/F!Reader stories, titled "Echoes of Loss" and "Chocolate Lips," that I've already written. Additionally, I'll be posting fanarts and probably little bonus sections of "The Tears of Time" featuring cut/dumped scenes or additional trivia in the upcoming weeks.

I have some ideas for a Demon Slayer Modern AU involving a demon or ghost hunting agency. Not sure yet which pairing(s) it would involve. Maybe I'll write it in the future months when my ideas are clearer. We'll see because I also work in real life as a writer/illustrator and in a shop, and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all my projects 👀. Meanwhile, I might take on some commissions.

My name is Otsana, no not my given name but my chosen name for this undertaking. It adds a bit of charm and mystique to my posts. 

I am planning on this blog to be a grimoire of my own making, for personal use and to share with all of you. I have gained much wisdom over the years and wish to share my thoughts and experiences with you.
