Hugo picks up on things fast. After just one week at his new bartending job at the Spider's Bite, he learns three things: 1) Don't touch Cass's shaker unless you want a black eye. 2) Lance's baking is the perfect hangover cure. 3) Varian's boyfriend is the absolute worst.

Which is a good thing naman dahil ina-apply natin ‘yong “Think before you click.”
May soul. Walang pasikat. Lahat, gusto lang mag-vent out. Dito ramdam mo pa ‘yong freedom of speech. Sana mag-boom ulit itong platform. Sana may new wave of bloggers or mga tao na mag-re-register dito.

Can we vote?-141
Asian-American!reader
reader has been complaining about the upcoming American elections, and is annoyed that asians can't vote
A/N: superstore reference...
Price: and with tensions rising in America about the elections, this mission will be hard
Gaz: hey, we've got our own American 'ere maybe they can give us an insight
R/N: oh I can't...
Soap: why not?
R/N: I wish Asians were allowed to vote..
Kate: what?
R/N: I really don't get the whole basement thing--
Ghost: hold on-- wait a second.
Price: what are you talking about?
R/N: yeah I know it's a democracy. One person, one vote-- oh, unless you're Asian American, tell me why that is?
Kate: I don't know that I can
Gaz: are you-- R/N, you're an American citizen, right?
R/N: just 'cause im asian, I can't be a citizen?
Ghost: not what he meant, mate
Kate: occasionally, parents bring their kids into the country illegally, and then, they don't even tell them that they're undocumented
R/N: well, that's not me, I have the documents. I went to the green card store personally
Soap: the what store?
R/N: yeah, they sell knockoff bags, bootleg Spiderman DVD's
Kate:...sweetheart...I don't think that's right...
-cuts to R/N calling their grandma--
R/N: Grandma, naalala mo ba 'yong binili natin dati para sa 'kin?(Grandma, do you remember the one we bought for you before?)
R/N: So 'yong green card na 'yon, counterfeit?(So that green card, counterfeit?)
R/N: So, ibig sabihin hindi ako American citizen? (So, does that mean I'm not an American citizen?)
(And can we watch spider man legally on Netflix?)
R/N: well I'm fucked....

pahinga muna, ako na
a toto wolff x daughter!reader blurb for OPM weekends
summary: she looks back on her memories of her dad being there for her.
content warning: vague mention of mom not being around, one mention of injury (cut on lip)
morwen's radio: first blurb! please let me know what you think - likes, comments, and reblogs are appreciated! requests for OPM Weekends are open!
she fiddled with her tassel as she waited for her turn. looking around, she was rendered... speechless. wasn't it only yesterday that she was one of those freshmen serving as ushers, helping out during their seniors' graduation?
wasn't it only yesterday that her dad sat a five-year-old down and told her... that mom wasn't around anymore, and they'd have to be brave, and they'd have to be strong together?
she could still remember him telling her not to worry, she didn't do anything wrong, and to let dad worry about these things.
wasn't it only yesterday that dad was running around, apologizing to her aunt a million times as he fixed his bag, dropped a kiss on her forehead, and told her that he needed to fly off for work again?
she could still feel the soft fur of her new stuffed toy as she looked up at him with trust in her eyes, whispering a soft, 'be safe, daddy,' and watching him leave.
wasn't it only yesterday that she was sulking on a swing, the night sky offering little comfort as tears slid down her cheeks after a boy broke her heart? And before she knew it... dad was there, gathering her in his arms and wiping her tears away.
she could still smell his cologne - a woodsy, musky name-brand that he still wore to this day - as he told her that everything will be okay, that the pain will pass, that he was so sorry that this had happened to her, his precious daughter.
wasn't it only yesterday that she could feel the cut on her lip, terrified of what the dean would say about her being a casualty of an inter-sorority conflict? her wide-eyed gaze fixed on him as he tore the dean a new one, calling the entire affair avoidable if the sororities didn't drag passersby and civilians (like her) into their petty arguments.
she could still taste the metallic tang in her mouth as he'd led her off to be seen by an off-campus physician. he later told her he didn't trust anyone on-campus to look after her when they couldn't even wrangle their own 'clubs'.
"... Wolff. Bachelor of Science in Motorsports Engineering. Magna cum Laude."
she was jolted out of her reverie when her name was finally called, and her dad wrapped his fingers gently around her arm.
"you good, kid?" he asked softly, towering over her.
"... yeah, dad," she replied, going up the short steps to the stage with his help.
and after her dad accepted the medal to place around her neck, in recognition of her award, she smiled, gestured for him to bend down, and slid the medal over his head.
"this one's for you, dad," she whispered as they posed for the camera.
and if he wiped away a few tears once the pictures were taken, she didn't mention them.

Nakitang masaya
Naiinis akong isipin na
Ginaganyan ka niya
Siguro ay hindi niya lang
Alam ang 'yong tunay na halaga…

Hi there! About five years ago, you provided reading recommendations for me in the “weird western” genre. It took me on a journey that exposed me to many incredible, diverse authors and reignited my love of reading. Would you be willing to share some more book recommendations? Doesn’t have to be weird western - I like your taste and am always happy to expand my horizons.
Thank you so much for your time and I hope you’re doing well!
Hello!
I haven't been reading that many English novels lately... I fell into the hole of reading Chinese danmei novels and with all its popcorn bloody drama it's been hard to turn back. If you're willing to try danmei, I rec:
Qiang Jin Jiu (officially licensed, or you can look up the English fan translation). Probably my fave danmei of all time and my fave book of the year from a couple of years back. Incredible read. Alt history novel.
Scum Villain's Self Saving System (same as above)
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (same as above). Has been adapted into an animation and a tv show that is on Netflix (The Untamed).
Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know (x)
The Demon Venerable's Wistful Desire (x)
Peerless (x)
Books by priest (Guardian, Mo Du, etc). For priest if you're unfamiliar with her work I rec starting with the tv adaptation of Tian Ya Ke (Word of Honour) that is on Netflix
For English/English Translated novels, I've always loved:
Jin Yong (The Legend of the Condor Heroes is deservedly one of the most-read books in the world. I grew up with this, as did many people across the Chinese diaspora. On the official translation it's billed as the "Chinese Lord of the Rings", but it's nothing like Lord of the Rings--it's wuxia. Hell, it's probably more read than Lord of the Rings by sheer reader volume. tbh the official English translation annoys me because of the random name translations, so I rec the fan translation here)
NK Jemisin (Fifth Season series etc, incredible books, fantasy)
Liu Cixin (Three Body Problem etc: now adapted into several tv shows, including one on Netflix. I haven't watched any of them yet but you can try those first if you don't want to commit to the books)
Claire G Coleman (Terra Nullius, The Old Lie)
Saad Z Hossain (The Gurkha and the Lord of Tuesday etc)
Nnedi Okorafor (Akata Witch etc)
Yoon Ha Lee (Ninefox Gambit etc)
Nahoko Uehashi (Moribito, Beast Player etc)
SA Chakraborty (City of Brass etc)
Stephen Graham Jones (The Only Good Indians etc)
... and more :) Hope that helps as a starting point!
