hello sqotd anon. this question honestly had me scratching my head; I don't have that many oc's that i share seriously on simblr so i think i'll go with my version of Vladislaus Straud.

(now you know i had to make miss thing over.)

what's there to say? I don't consider this Vlad to be the founder of Forgotten Hollow like the vanilla Vlad's bio implies. in fact, I don't think he's even necessarily related to that guy. I feel like heirs in this family can be born, or they can be created/ushered from humans in by master vampires. maybe this Vlad is just some guy that got turned by the last Vlad hundreds of years ago. he might do the same thing to someone else, or might fuck around and have his own kids. whomst knoze.

kind of explains why they don't look the same. which, good, because vanilla Vlad is not that girl.

Not my usual cc post but I was asked quite some times about this hairstyle so here it is. I have to say (and it's important) I do not make hair for ts4, I made this one for my lady Straud and it's literally my third hair mesh ever and it was made…two years ago, maybe. Or more… What I'm trying to say here is that this hair is not perfect by any mean and I cannot make it perfect. It works for me, and I didn't found any problems with this hair for all the time it was in my game, so for the people, who wanted to use this hair for their sims, here it is.

hello 💌 so i don't use cinematic dof, i only use aDOF. to achieve the cinematic effect i make my own dof in photoshop by duplicating the layers, applying a lens blur effect on the top layer, then erasing the area i want the camera to focus on!! like this:

tbh i do this 99% of the time w my pictures so if you ever see an effect like this it's done in photoshop!

the only member of the straud family that vlad can remember aside from himself is his mother. she was a red-haired woman who often sang in the nursery. she was very fond of books and the piano. however, she was very ill in every memory.

while he may be evil, vlad is known to have a habit of 'adopting' black sheep, and will purposefully seek out the freaks, loners, outcasts, and others to harbor. he is both firmly possessive and wildly protective of them.

Ladies and Gentlefolks: The Asylum Challenge

I got tired of having Lilac cooped up in a bunker (and the main reason was because of the meanness bug anyway, which for me at least has been patched), so instead she is cooped up in an asylum! Onwards and upwards, eh Lilac?

So yes, we ('what do you mean, we?' she asks) are doing the asylum challenge, with some minor tweaks to the rules. Since the whole conceit of Lilac is that she shouldn't be there, I let her keep her regular traits (SELF-ASSURED, LAZY and FREEGAN) aaaaand since her housemates are pre-made townies, I likewise didn't alter them.

Although some, you may agree, should be locked up for something.

(Disclaimer: I know that institutions can be - to put it nicely - problematic, in the real world, and it is not my intention to make light of this. This is just for the silliness factor and other than doing my best to keep them bound to one lot, the Sims will be able to act as they do normally.)

One is in hiding from one rather peeved Henford-on-Bagley matriarch (and her hired occult duo). The other is regularly found conversing with the MOTHER plant.

Jacques Villareal and Raj Rasoya

Ah, now we come to the actual criminal element of the joint. One perhaps had a more 'hands-on' role in being a single parent than through the regular court custody battle, while the other was found unaliving a workplace rival - then claiming that some entity called the Watcher made him do it.

Yes, Raj, you should truly be here.

Lux Demarco and L. Faba

Just for the sake of tokenism, the werewolf contingent had to be represented - and unfortunately Lux drew the short straw. L. Faba however is here because she chose to keep an eye on Vlad on behalf of the spellcasters' society, and they figure that as a MEAN sim, she may be able to convince him that she's actually on his side.

Meredith Roswell

No one is quite sure why she is here. Maybe she thought that the booking was a 2-for-1 deal aboard a cruiser, or in a luxury hotel?

Chapter 2.2 - Happenstance

[POV: WILLIAM]

"You can't cast Disintegrate on an entire universe," William grumbles. 

"Of course I can," Vlad scoffs, "I literally just did it."

“No,” William glares, “You didn't. You'd need a magical item. Specifically, the Owl of Undoing and Christopher already said you can't have it." 

Vlad raises his brows, and William understands the look: Why are you defending him? Christopher plays a paladin. You don’t even like him; you’ve been cheating on him for months. 

Or maybe that’s just the guilt talking.

"I know what he said,” Vlad takes a swig of his barley bale. “That's why I pickpocketed him three sessions ago. Check your notes. I think you’ll find you already made the decision when you let me roll for it."

Asshole. Yes, William complains about Christopher. Yes, he feels trapped. But Lairs and Llamas wasn’t the place to sort that out. "Fine," he snaps, crumbling up a page of his notes. "You do it. Your enemies turn to dust, and everything resets to a single, non-magical universe."

"That doesn’t make sense,” Candy purses her lips. "How can we be sure the world has no magic? I mean, isn't that a little like saying there are no aliens? It doesn't make sense. There probably are aliens and magic, too. We just haven't discovered them yet."

Vlad grins. “Yes, William, isn’t it possible that there are more magical fish in the sea?”

William does not dignify this with an answer. Unlike Vlad’s family of loud, co-dependent lunatics, the Reddings operate via refined passive-aggressive avoidance and socially acceptable threats.   

Christopher scoops up the dice and flings it onto the map. It skips and rolls to a stop on the worst possible number. "Natural 20!" he exclaims. "I look for a portal that takes me and my fellow paladins back in time to undo Vladislaus's spell."

"Some things can’t be undone," Vlad chuckles. “Why waste your time?”

"Because you’re wrong," Christopher insists, his gaze sharp, "Natural 20 means I automatically succeed."

“Technically—” Gunther begins.

“Nope,” William holds up a hand. Gunther joined their table after Vlad sent their last player running through the quad in tears. He was exhausting, and they’d had enough of his But the Rules speeches to last a lifetime. “Not technically. We are not doing that tonight.”

“So I succeed?” The hopefulness in Christopher’s voice makes William shift uncomfortably.

But Vlad just laughs and hums a little tune. “Oh, do tell, William. How does the natural 20 work out? Can Christopher go back in time and undo all the damage?” 

William grinds his jaw. “No. There is no such thing as magic, which means even with a natural 20, Christopher’s move doesn’t work.”

Christopher slumps in his seat. 

“So the campaign is over?” Candy asks. 

“Y-yes,” William croaks and then clears his throat. “I just want to know how your characters start their new lives while we wrap up."

"I start a conspiracy theory newspaper about aliens and magic,” Candy smirks.

“Hmmm,” Gunther rubs his chin. “I think my barbarian queen becomes a personal trainer. And then she meets this cool, casual academic with black-framed glasses who—”

“That’s enough,” William interrupts. “Christopher? Are we—er—you alright?” He swallows hard, his resolve weakening. Why is he trying so hard to protect the feelings of someone he doesn’t care about? “The end can be a fresh start. It doesn’t even have to be an end,” he finishes, ignoring Vlad’s dark look. 

Christopher surges to his feet. "Honestly, fuck you, Straud. You ruined this for all of us! Especially for Will, who planned it."

William hates being called Will. He's told his boyfriend this a thousand times. But the guilt over being defended when it's obvious Christopher has no idea what’s going on keeps him from pointing it out. "Sit down, love. You don't want to do this." 

"No, I do. I want Vladislaus to know he's fucked up and selfish!"

"He knows,” William deadpans.

"Yes," Vlad agrees, "I'm quite aware of my faults. Now," he leans forward, resting his elbow on the table to prop up his chin. "Are you defending William because you're fucking him or because you're hoping this might excite him enough to tell you he loves you?"

It's the wrong thing to say. Or maybe it’s the right thing, considering that Vladislaus thrives off of chaos. Christopher charges around the table, dragging him out of his seat. 

“Is this what you want?” he shouts.

Yes. 

No.

No. Christopher doesn’t know what’s at stake, and William doesn’t need a white knight. He needs his boyfriend to have enough common sense to know when he's being goaded. “Don’t!” he shouts. 

But he’s too slow.

Christopher cocks back his fist and punches Vlad straight in the mouth.

(Love this Lairs and Llamas set by @valhallansim! Also, my IRL dnd group is really just a spy v. spy situation where we mostly plot against each other and then sometimes band together to fight a dragon we name after bad ex-boyfriends)

Helena: She looks like she’d rather be elsewhere. And so would I. I’m tired of being a recluse with you. All I can think about when I’m hanging around here is my next meal.

Caleb: But where are we-

Helena: It’s a surprise! Would you rather I ask your sister instead?

Lilith: Where are you two off to? Oh, are you having one of your little mental conversations. You know I hate that. It’s so unfair! Fine, don’t tell me. But at least take your hellcat with you. [to rubber ducky] I guess it’s just you, me, and that… thing. Now, what are we going to do about them keeping secrets from us?

Helena: Why have we never taken this path?

Caleb: Enemy territory.

Helena: Oh my god, is this the way to Vlad’s? You have to show me his place!

Caleb: [weakly] Helena…

Helena: [shudders] Ostentatious and creepy as fuck. It’s strange how little I noticed that first night. And what I do remember is all fragmented and blurry, like a dream.

Caleb: Well, you had an awful lot to drink, and you did technically die. [ruminative pause] Then, of course, there was all the glamouring-

Helena: Glamouring?

Caleb: Vampire party trick. Like hypnosis, but more sophisticated. Once you learn it, you can make yourself as discreet or flashy as you’d like. Most humans have encountered vampires without even realizing it. If they stumble into this place  — and make it out alive — they likely won’t remember how to return. Straud and the other ancients keep it well-shrouded.

Helena: [nervously] Does it work on other vampires? I’ve barely seen any-

Caleb: We can always see our kind for what they are. You’ve just been unobservant.

Helena: Hey! I’ve been distracted. It’s hard not to have tunnel vision when you’re in perpetual survival mode.

Caleb: You’re feeling better now. I can tell.

Helena: I’m full on plasma and ready to party!

Caleb: [chuckles] Seriously?

Helena: Well, not quite. You’ll see.

Caleb: You know, I could just peek into your head and-

Helena: [teasingly] Too bad your morals will never allow it.

3. Has your OC killed a friend/family member/loved one?

None. Rather, she would kill for her family. Prior to having her memory "wiped out", the reason she agreed to be a vampire is to train under the Vatores and Straud and defeat the killer of her real family. The killer that was Percival Asvang. Things happened, and she wasn't able to avenge her family, as the vampires around her decided he gets to live, he won't be killed nor would he become a sacrifice to speed up Lenora's full recovery.

4. What appears in your OC's darkest nightmares?

As Elizabeth, prior to becoming a vampire, her nightmares are always her, reliving the slaughter of her family. Percival and her sisters moving as bats and mist in a dark stormy night, the vampires attacking their household staff, her parents, her beloved sister, until all that's left is the butler, and Sid.

Sometimes her nightmare would turn into something more sinister. The attacker is her.

These nightmares no longer happen when her memory was wiped clean.

8. Would your OC consider themself evil?

Again, as Elizabeth, she would. She left her only family, her niece, Sid, and she became the very thing she sought to destroy - a vampire.

9. Would you consider your OC evil?

No. She did what she thought was best. She did that to avenge her family and to protect her remaining family.
