tos ep rewrites/stid rewrite for the wip meme!!!
HIIII ty for asking
this isn't technically a fic per se, it's almost like a half-fic half-meta kind of deal - essentially it's an outline of what could be a fic if i had more time and patience. i did this for the first tos movie here and had a lot of fun doing it, and then i also did a small rewrite of "tholian web" here, and i had SO MUCH FUN DOING THEM but then i got side tracked and haven't done anymore. my plans for other episodes/stid are vaguely as follows:
the enemy within - loved this one conceptually but the crass rape jokes left a real sour taste in my mouth. i'd have less of that (or, if i had it, take it seriously) and more shenanigans where someone can't tell the two kirks apart because. they're both the real kirk!! that's the real point of the episode, right?
the conscience of the king - frankly, there was too much shakespeare here, even though it will always be my fav trek episode of all time. i also thought the lenore thing, while a great twist, could have been a little less "but kirk really secretly loved this woman 20 years younger than him!" and more "man this is crazy fucked up that is trying to honeypot this very young woman and surprise she is doing it back to him." more foreshadowing and drama, you know? the tos version wouldn't have to be gambler's knife but it could be something more than what it was considering the huge effect it had on fandom - i always kinda wished it had the vibes that obsession did.
the galileo seven - i thought this episode treated spock like he was kind of stupid. "why is my first command failing when i've been an asshole to everybody?" he has a human mother! he knows how emotions work! he is not stupid! i also thought there was a missed opportunity: they all talked about how callous it was for him to be picking a man to leave behind to lighten the ship, and he was so obviously going to choose himself, but it never went anywhere. let's do him more justice!
metamorphosis - let's chill with the horrific misogyny and have more fun with the accidental parallel kirk made in his really cool speech. like fuck it this is my edit let's just do spirk
mirror, mirror - this one is actually perfect as it is but i wish we'd had more time to se what the mirror kirk & co were doing in the prime universe.
journey to babel - this one is great but i don't think it takes either of spock's parents to task enough for him turning out like that. also, they tricked us into thinking amanda was the good cop in aos and then have her slap him in tos but then acted like that was just fine? girl, let's get into it
the paradise syndrome - i just want this episode without the heinous racism. please please please. easily easily EASILY my biggest trek disappointment ever
requiem for methuselah/the enterprise incident - these two go together as part of a more complex story based partially on the fact that they originally wanted kirk's breakdown in the latter episode to be a real result of the various um things that happened to him in season 3 and partially by the fact that requiem for methuselah WAS my november 5th and i am being completely serious. i didn't think i would ever feel that way again but i did at the end of that episode. you can read about the general idea here at the end of @maulthots close encounters powerpoint which i helped a little bit with.
honorable mention to episode premises i would have loved in a different context - lights of zetar where spock is the possessed one and an episode totally unrelated to wolf in the fold, the funniest tos ep after tribbles, where an enemy who feeds on fear jumps around the ship possessing people. that could have been great had it been in a serious episode and not been played by piglet's voice actor
and finally, star trek into darkness...everything about this movie was bad, except the warp core thing which was accidentally very very VERY good. so i'd rewrite it from the ground up, starting with recasting khan, because that was just a hateful thing to do. i don't have very many concrete ideas on this yet except you'd HAVE to get assad zaman for khan, right? because he can do that thing where he makes his eyes shake? he would have rocked it.
let people send you an ask with the WIP title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it!

Crazy ideas I want to write so bad, but have no idea how to even start:
Disney Fairies x Star Wars Clone Wars/Bad Batch (tiny bit of ATLA but in lore)
Basically a bunch of fairies of different talents shipped with each Bad Batch member (+ Rex) that work to save the galaxy and so on.
Tinker fairy x Crosshair
Light Fairy x Tech
Water Fairy (female) x Echo
Garden Fairy (male) x Rex
Animal Fairy x Wrecker
Fast Flying Fairy x Hunter
Also Pixie Hallow now is its own planet. Due to the massive pollution and corruption of Earth, Pixie Hallow was moved to a far off galaxy, and ended up merging with an inhabited planet, which eventually turned into basically what Pixie Hallow looks like but bigger. It has since become a vast galactic protected planet, and wildlife reserve.
Fairies still change the seasons on the first day said season starts, only time is slowed down that day, making fairies able to change the season of all the planets of the galaxy in one day happen.
Fairies also aren’t bound to humans and their first laugh anymore. They instead can have kids of their own (that aren’t fully grown like with first laugh born fairies).
Fairies also have explored the galaxy, making their talents go beyond seasons, some even making companies/business out of it.
Example is Rosetta alongside being a Garden Fairy, is also a galactic favorite fashion designer. She owns a bunch of boutiques across the galaxy where tons of Garden Fairies work when not season preparing. Works the main boutique in Pixie Hallow Spring Spector. Also Garden Fairies can earth bend.
You know how the four seasons are split into sections in Pixie Hallow? Here, they’re called spectors.
Tinkerbell has her own mechanic/engineering business, with Tinker Fairies now being widely hired as freelance technicians, mechanics, and more every now and then. In the story, Clone squadrons have been hiring said Tinker Fairies to join said squadrons as their mechanic for example. Also Tinker Fairies can mental bend.
Meanwhile, Silvermist owns a collab business with Healing Fairies that spreads healing throughout the galaxy. Water Fairies in this universe have healing powers (and can basically water bend etc.), and are also high in requests for squadrons as their medic.
Animal Fairies have become part animal rescuers. Basically, they go across the galaxy to help endangered, abused, and abandoned animals. Bringing them back to Pixie Hallow, which can magically adjust to make sure whatever animals come over, don’t destroy the ecosystem in place.
Pixie Dust is considered throughout the galaxy as “seeable version of the force”.
Fairies of different talents can wield pixie dust in different ways. Most ways that use their talents alongside it.
Tinker fairies use pixie dust as an extension of their body (imagine ROTMNT Raph mystical ninjutsu power, but gold.). Uses such usually to pick up tools from afar, multitask, or defend oneself.
Fast flying fairies (who can air bend) use pixie dust as ropes. Said pixie dust made ropes extend from their arms, and can be used as basically any way ropes are used. Most used version is either as a whip to tie up an opponent, or a graveling hook.
Animal Fairies use pixie dust through their hands, being able to see hidden tracks, traps, and more.
Light fairies (who can also fire bend) use pixie dust as a shield or force field. Extends pixie dust from the arms, and circles it around whatever needs to be protected. They also are secret healers, using a mix of pixie dust and light (possibly fire also depending on the injury). The reason it’s a secret, is because light fairies are forbidden to use said technic, for if used too much, can lead to said light fairy injured as a result. Usually results a mix of fainting, dehydration, high fever, possible burns on the hands, headache, and dizziness.
Power Ranger SPD x Star Trek AOS
The rangers going on an expedition with the Enterprise crew to deal with Khan.
Basically rewriting STID
Featured ships being JackxSky and JimxSpock
Pokémon x DBZ
Mostly Gohan centric, where he goes on his Pokemon journey and other DBZ characters are around.
Example of Goku being the Champion. With an elite four consisting of Vegeta (who keeps challenging him for the title), Andriod 18, Piccolo (though since very few make it to him level wise, he decides to watch over Gohan and mentor him throughout his journey), and Tien.
Also Krillin is the police head officer, Andriod 17 is head ranger, Bulma is the most famous Pokemon professor and scientist around, and Goten and Trunks are the head of the Battle Frontier (alongside Bulla so technically the Frontier is more of a Battle Trio).
Meanwhile the main enemy is Cell, with his elites being Broly (who may or may not double cross and join the good guys) and Frieza (who tries to keep eliminating Cell to become the head of the organization). Grunts consisting of clones of Andriod 16, and the admin being Gero.
Harry Potter x Star Wars Clone Wars/Bad Batch
Harry Potter being raised by the Bad Batch and it somehow leads to Palpatine meeting his end early, but also results with having a psycho, lightsaber wielding driod after Harry, because he’s mistaken as Obi-wan’s kid.
Anakin and others in the background definitely getting a hoot out of the whole mix up, even Obi-wan himself. He would go along with it, if that didn’t mean having to face an army of clones to adopt him, and a psycho driod just happening to go after a kid as a result.

Fixed It.
Not really.
His hands aren’t shaking, but he feels like they should be. The adrenaline coursing through his veins, making his ribcage feel like a bone rattle for his heart, and shrinking his stomach to the size of peanut, should be more than enough to cause tremors. They had been falling from the sky, he’s impressed he isn’t on the ground right now in a full blown panic attack.
Amazing what three years in space can do for your perspective.
“Leonard.”
Spock. Christ, he forgot he was at his desk for a moment. Mechanically, he reaches for the comm controls. “Here. Please tell me we’re not falling from space again.”
There’s a pause. Is that Scotty in the background? “Can you please come down to Engineering.”
Leonard’s brow furrows. “Is everything alright down there? Did we miss a casualty?”
“Yes.” Spock replies.
Faintly, in the background, he hears Jim. “Is that Bones?”
The comm cuts out. Oh.
No.
The walk to the lift doesn’t feel real. The halls, the tinny voices of the people within them, nothing feels real. Spock’s broken neutral face, Scotty’s plain grief. And Jim, barely masked pain, collapsed against the panel on the wrong side of death. “...Bones.”
He makes eye contact with Spock, then Scotty, and both open their mouth as if to cut him off (did he look that desperate?), but they both stop. Leonard takes two steps, then falls to his knees, pressing his hands to panel. “You told them not to call me.”
“Yeah, well.“ Jim won’t meet his eyes. Leonard can see the gaunt, stretched look of Radiation poisoning. There’s a puddle of vomit near the entrance, more spittle and bile than whatever Jim had eaten in the past 24 hours. “I didn’t want you to see me like this.”
“As opposed to how you’d look on my autopsy table?” That gets him a flash of blue, one that cuts Leonard deeper than he thought possible, full of regret and naked fear. He thinks Jim’s eyes would water if they could. “Fine.”
He turns himself around and collapses with his back to the panel. Jim is silent. Spock is on the comm, speaking in a low voice, and Scotty has his eyes fixed on the control panel with determination.
“You know.” Leonard grasps for topics. Jim’s scared, that much is clear. Who wouldn’t be? Leonard was scared for him. “I always thought I’d be the first to go.”
Jim chuckles. Or coughs, it’s hard to tell, and the tissue of his lungs must be burnt to hell. “No way.”
“I’m serious.”
“C’mon. We both knew-”
“-you’d find the impossible and jump right in, yeah, yeah. Except I always thought I’d be right there to jump after you.” Jim’s breathing isn’t labored so much as it is painful. And he doesn’t respond so Leonard continues. “Maybe not to do what you do. I don’t have the pig-headed survival instinct you do, or, well, the biceps.” Jim does chuckle at that. “But just to be on hand to fix you up no matter how many pieces you tear yourself into.”
“You can’t fix me this time, can you?”
Tears burn, and fall in warm streaks down his cheeks. Maybe this is why Jim didn’t want him down here. He can only deliver despair. “Not this time, Jim.”
“Oh.” As if it were a surprise to either of them. Perhaps it was the finality, the snuffing out of his last hope. Leonard’s too afraid to turn around and look.
“Doctor.” It’s Spock. He looks up, and from the flick of Spock’s gaze over Leonard’s shoulder, so does Jim. “Captain. They have Khan’s location. I’ve been asked to help retrieve him.”
“I told you, Spock, you’re the Captain.” He sounds tired. So tired. “Go. Take that bastard down.”
“Spock.” Leonard tries to lower his voice, but there’s not much he can do to keep Jim from overhearing. Between the three of them, they’d never needed much secrecy anyway. “You know what it’s like to never get to say goodbye.” Jim starts coughing behind him. “You only get one shot.”
Spock looks ill, but he crouches, and he presses his hand to the panel. “Goodbye. My friend.”
“Goodbye.”
Too late, Leonard remembers it’s not a Vulcan custom to be so certain of another’s future absence. Spock makes eye contact one last time, he doesn’t look begrudging about it. He nods and walks stiffly to the exit.
“Sorry, I can’t think of anything to say.” Leonard can worry about Spock later. He’d have all his attention after. Jim was who needed him now.
“Don’t be, I don’t need your platitudes, Jim. I never was one for grandeur.”
“What do you need, Bones?”
Leonard could convince himself they were alone at the bar, that this was just business as usual. If he ignored the wheezing breaths of a dying man. If he phased out the blue glow of auxiliary power lighting and the red glow of the sign above them telling everyone decontamination was incomplete. He breaks his resolve, and tils his head so he can look at Jim. “I have what I need for now.”
Jim studies him, and with a pang Leonard realizes he’s never going to see those blue eyes, sharp with life, move like that ever again. “No you don’t.”
No. He doesn’t. What he needs is to be on the other side of this panel, with radiation shield, with more arithrazine than he had to spare. He needed to be there an hour earlier, before Jim took the dive, he needed for this to not be happening, for himself to have been more useful, for himself to have the cure. But all that’s wishful thinking. So he’ll settle for being what Jim needs. What all his patients need, when his best isn’t enough. He’ll stand watch, be their witness, until death takes what is due.
“What were you thinking?”
“You mean aside from save the crew?” That was bitter, Leonard would have to address that later. “I was wondering. If this was how, y’know. He felt. But it couldn’t’ve been. My father didn’t create Nero.”
“You didn’t create Khan, either. And you sure as hell didn’t create Marcus.”
“No, but I created this situation. I played into their hands, over, and over. I did exactly what Pike said I did. I risked all your lives. And for what?”
“Well. You uncovered a massive internal conspiracy to start an interstellar war. Discovered Khan and his crew to prevent them from being reawakened. Kept Spock from being unleashed on an unsuspecting crew.” Jim had been clinging to his words before this, and now cracked a smile. “So that’s three total possible Federation destroying catastrophes averted in one? Not bad, if I say so myself.”
He’s still smiling when Leonard’s done. Above them, the decontamination sign begins to flash its countdown to completion. Jim’s eyes are serious, though. “Was it worth it?”
“Worth you?” Christ, his voice was breaking. “I.” The smile is gone now, swimming away in film of tears forming against his will. “I’ve gotta tell you, Jim, there’s not a lot I wouldn’t trade right now for one more adventure with you.”
Red shifts to green. The panel slides back, and Leonard lurches forward to catch Jim. For a moment, he can’t tell if Jim is sobbing, but only because Leonard definitely was. Eventually, he gets himself back together. “You saved us. Again. So thanks, again, Jim.”
Jim’s too warm, his breathing too shallow against the hollow of Leonard’s throat. “Y’know, Bones.” It comes out as a whisper. “I think it was worth it.”
Leonard doesn’t know what to say. Doesn’t have anything left to say, everything he can think of was a damn platitude, empty and meaningless and not worth Jim’s limited senses. So he holds Jim close, humming without knowing what or why, until the chest against his stops moving.
Scotty’s still there. Somehow.
“Call Security, will you?” Leonard says, in a voice that isn’t his own. “We’ll need a bag. Let’s get him out of here.”

Do you know of any into darkness rewrites that include Spirk? :) thanks!
I can’t find any fics that are rewrites of the whole film, most of them are based around the scene where Jim dies, so warning for major character death (or mentions of it) . in both of these
The Space Between by starfleetdicks
Kirk’s skin is cool to the touch, his hair softer than Spock imagined, and the stiffness he expects to feel at the base of Kirk’s neck at this unexpected contact is strangely absent. Kirk shifts, lets out a noisy breath, and leans into the touch. Spock’s fingers tingle. He finds there is some comfort in touching Kirk like this. Fascinating.
He moves closer, drawn to Kirk until there is almost no space between.
Into Darkness scene fill/extension, after Kirk's speech at the anniversary ceremony to the end of the movie.
How It Ends by SentimentalDefect
"I want you to know why I couldn't let you die. Why I went back for you." One last glance at the final two-hundred-and-forty-one seconds of Jim Kirk's life. Kirk/Spock. Obvious spoilers for STID.

Another Tarsus IV fic rec. Thirty in all.
These recs are made of fics that are about Tarsus IV or reference Tarsus IV. Hope you enjoy.
Rivers by n_anon on archiveofourown. Rated Mature. Summary: A tale of two people averse to the concept of destiny, but who can't seem to escape it.
The Cave by elospock on archiveofourown. Rated Mature. Summary: Most probably a slow K/S, post-STID. After Khan was defeated, the Enterprise was given a five-year mission to explore the uncharted and the unknown. However, things seem to be quite rocky between Captain James T. Kirk and his First Officer Spock. And they don't seem to get any better as Kirk's past resurfaces in disquieting circumstances...The rating might have to be changed to rape/non-con and graphic depiction of violence, though it doesn't concern the first chapters. It might eventually get pretty intense, though that part of the story is not written yet. Not for the fainthearted (though I don't know, it might not be that extreme... better be safe than sorry, in any case! And I don't want to mislead anybody either!)LLAP!
Five People Who Were Affected by Kirk's Death by Starsinger on fanfiction.net. Rated Teen. Summary: And One Whose Death Affected Him. Okay, so I'm trying my hand at this five things thing, and it'll probably be lame. Who knows? I don't.
Jim's Haunting Past by kiylitier on fanfiction.net. Rated Teen. Summary:Jim and Bones are contacted to secretly meet Pike at Star Fleet's headquarters. But when attacked in an alleyway injuring Kirk, a figure appears to bring back memories that were buried deep. Kirk goes instantly into PTSD causing Bones to worry about his friends. Who is this figure? What causes Jim to act so irrationally? A fight to save each others lives begin. Kirk/McCoy Injured
Murderer, Myself by heathersdomain on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: Anton Karidian is dead - shot by his own daughter, who had been aiming for Captain Kirk when Karidian stepped in the way.But there's more to it than that. It doesn't take Spock long to see the discrepancy, to notice the difference, to realize its implications. The problem is, what to do once he's realized the truth: that Karidian died because Captain Kirk allowed him to?Post The Conscience of the King.
What You Are by melonbutterfly on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: Spock and Jim are getting closer and closer, gravitating towards each other. They're not quite there yet, though, and Jim has something important to tell Spock.
Test of Time by notboldly on archiveofourown. Rated Explicit.  Summary: While balancing between two sides of a war, Jim is forced back in time to relive his worst memories.
Strength of Men by 1lostone on archiveofourown. Rated Explicit. Summary: While a deadly disease incapacitates the Enterprise, an old enemy of Jim's forces him to remember his time on Tarsus IV. Spock finds Kirk's pain unacceptable.UPDATE: 7, August 2015. Wow, this fic is five years old and I've changed a LOT as a writer since then. I hope, anyway. With the help of FoxyK I'm finally getting around to betaing this for typos. Most of the fic- plot points, etc- should stay the same, unless one of us finds something especially cringe-worthy!
Melt This Frozen Heart by Boonaddicious  on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: Kirk receives a unique gift on an away mission - a gift that will bring his fears to the light, and test his relationship to the most important person in his life."Kirk took a deep breath and dropped his impromptu weapon. The energy had left his hands, but adrenaline still pumped through his system. He knew this would require quite a bit of explanation, but the sheer elation of having beaten this psycho with some preternatural ability made him feel like he could walk on water. However, his mood darkened when he turned to look at Spock.Spock was gripping his injured arm as he sat on the ground, and was staring at Jim with unmasked fear."
the violence of comets by viverella on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: Jim has never once, in his life, believed in love. He wears his bare skin with only his own tattoo circling his ankle as a badge of honor. He meets a man named Leonard McCoy on a shuttle in Riverside, Iowa who believes exactly the opposite.(That AU in which everyone is born with a unique tattoo on their ankle that no one else has and every time you fall in love, their tattoo appears somewhere on your body.)
Crash of Expectations by vamprav on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: In another place, in another time Kirk hacked into the Kobayashi Maru and broke it. In this place and in this time Kirk hacks and the Kobayashi Maru and fixes it. But what's different about him, what made him change his mind. The answer is obvious of course. In that other place and in that other time Kirk was fully human. In this place and in this time he isn't. (Another T’Pring on Tarsus IV fic.)
His father's eyes by Captain_Mercurian  on archiveofourown. Rated Not Rated. Summary: “I found George's son,” Pike told him 21 years later with a gentle and somewhat guilty expression on his aging face. Harnessing Starfire by Sherza on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: The Enterprise has a crew unlike any other. They are the best and brightest that Starfleet has to offer, the vast majority of them are painfully young, and they are largely untried. They are led by the most unpredictable and explosive duo that has ever graced Starfleet Command.Alpha and Beta Quadrants are reeling under the after-effects of Nero's second rampage. The Klingon Empire's fleet has been gutted. The Romulans are ominously silent. The shattered remnants of the Vulcans are desperately trying to save their culture and their people. All eyes are on the Enterprise, the boatload of children who succeeded where an entire armada failed. Depending on who you talk to, they are heroes, villains, or ignorant, blindingly lucky upstarts. After their rather explosive beginning, how will the Enterprise and her command crew fare?
Space Husband Ficlet Collection by Phyona on archiveofourown. Chapter Summary: Kirk was saved from Tarsus IV by Vulcans when he was fourteen, but the memory of Kodos the Executioner and his child soldiers still haunts him. It takes another Vulcan to save him when a man resembling Kodos comes aboard the Enterprise, reminding Kirk that he never truly escaped his past.Based on 'The Conscience of the King' from Star Trek TOS. Mentions of trauma, panic attacks, and starvation. (Link takes you to the chapter about Tarsus IV.)
Not This Time on SineadRivka on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: The crack of rock startled Spock, causing him to bark for a status update from Chekov. He wrapped an arm around his mother’s waist, fingers gripping hard enough that he hoped he wouldn’t bruise his human parent. And then the ground gave way. Distantly, the words, “I’m losing them, I’m losing them!” echoed from the communicator clipped to his belt.White surrounded them, and he felt himself falling . . .
Overcast Horizons by Ael on archiveofourown. Rated Not Rated. Summary:  Spending three years exploring deep space is starting to take its toll on the crew of the Enterprise. Spock Prime raises Kirk, teaching him all he needs to know. Bonus points if Kirk ends up meeting nuSpock. You own my soul if you include the line: "He is just like you Jim. A bit more calm, a bit more knowledgeable, but I can see you in every move he makes. You'd be proud of him, dear friend."
can't watch you drown anymore, my friend by pieandsouffle on archiveofourown. Rated Teen. Summary: Normally, Nyota is happy than usual when Kirk shuts his stupid mouth. But this kind of quietness... it doesn't make her happy. It just doesn't feel right.
