Inspired by that time singer, dancer, actress and black cultural icon Josephine Baker was sailing across the Atlantic on the SS Normandie to take part in the Ziegfeld Follies Broadway musical revue. She heard her equally famous friend, Billie Burke, was on the ship as well, who was not only Ziegfeld’s widow but also a popular actress - you'd probably know her as Glinda the Good Witch in The Wizard of Oz. Josephine invited her to dinner and Billie was said to have agreed.
Josephine entered the first-class dining room in a gown by Erté, causing the room to burst into a standing ovation. Billie arrived shortly after, her entrance gaining an even warmer reception than that of Josephine's. But when she approached Josephine's table, Billie gave her nothing more than a look of distaste and coldly passed her by. But Josephine appeared unbothered and finished her dinner alone. Afterwards, she climbed the grand staircase and caused the audience to once again erupt into another standing ovation as she flashed them a dazzling smile, allegedly saying, “I assume she belongs to the black-hating race.”

Sunshine's Guide To Murder│Lee Minho

Chapter Twenty: Cool Cool Cool SS: 13 (ignore time stamps and dates) Word Count: 1.1K & 0.4K Content Warnings: Talks of framing someone for murder, discussion of death by choking on vomit, talks of hiding a body Previous Next Masterlist

Hayun raps her knuckles against the peeling paint of Yeji’s apartment door. The air is cool, the streetlights casting long shadows across the run-down building, but her stance is unwavering. After a moment, the door creaks open, and Ryujin leans against the frame, eyebrow raised as she takes in Hayun’s short, green silk dress, and sneakers. There’s a smirk tugging at her lips.
“Here for a fix?” Ryujin’s voice is casual, but there’s a hardness underneath, something testing in her gaze.
Hayun crosses her arms, shaking her head. “I need to talk to you.”
Ryujin rolls her eyes, pushing off the door frame as she glances back inside the apartment. “Alright,” she mutters, and gestures for Hayun to follow. “Let’s take this outside. I don’t want to deal with Yeji’s bullshit if she overhears.”
They head down the worn staircase, the building’s creaks and groans filling the silence between them until they step out into the back garden. A dimly lit, overgrown patch of yard greets them, offering just enough privacy for a conversation. Ryujin slouches against the railing, her eyes fixed on Hayun with a mix of curiosity and irritation.
Hayun doesn’t waste any time. “Mingi’s going down,” she states, her voice cool but laced with satisfaction. “The police found the tapes.”
Ryujin quirks a brow, giving a sardonic chuckle. “With a helping hand, I suppose?”
Hayun shrugs, a small smirk playing on her lips. “More like a pointing finger, but whatever works, right?”
Ryujin shakes her head, lips curling into a dry smile. “So, now you’re trying to figure out who killed my sister, is that it?”
“We both already know who that was, don’t we, Ryujin?” Hayun’s gaze is steady, unwavering. “Your own sister drugged you and served you up to Mingi. That’s enough to drive anyone to murder.”
The words hang heavily in the air, but Ryujin doesn’t flinch. Instead, her expression hardens, and she tilts her head, studying Hayun with a kind of detached defiance.
“Yeji helped you cover it up, didn’t she?” Hayun presses, her voice quiet but firm. “So, where’s Yuna’s body?”
Ryujin snorts, crossing her arms. “Yeji hid it,” she admits, her tone indifferent. “I don’t know where she put Yuna. That way, if the cops ever find her, I can play innocent. No way to trace it back to me if I don’t even know where she is.”
Hayun’s expression doesn’t change; she’d expected as much. “And Chaeryeong?” she asks, her voice softening, though her gaze remains intense.
Ryujin shakes her head slowly. “I don’t know about Chaeryeong.”
Hayun nods, letting the silence settle for a moment. Then, she glances away, eyes fixed on the murky street beyond the fence as if gathering her thoughts. Finally, she speaks, her voice low, almost hesitant. “I’m not going to turn you in, Ryujin. But I need to know… what happened that night?”
Ryujin’s jaw tightens, and she glances away, her eyes narrowing as she stares into the darkness. When she finally speaks, her voice is stripped of its usual bravado, raw and bitter.
“She’d met up with that mystery older man of hers. She came back bleeding from her head—they’d fought, I guess.” Ryujin’s face twists into a grimace. “Guess he’d had enough of the blackmail. When she stumbled in, she looked pathetic, whining about how she was losing control. I… I lost it, Hayun.”
There’s a dark, almost haunted look in Ryujin’s eyes as she continues, her voice rough with resentment and a hint of guilt. “I pushed her. She hit the floor, and I just… left her there. When I came back later, she’d vomited and choked on it. She was dead.”
Hayun listens quietly, her face unreadable as Ryujin relives the moment. She lets the silence hang for a moment, absorbing the weight of Ryujin’s confession.
Finally, Hayun steps forward, her voice steady but filled with a quiet intensity. “I have a plan, and I need your help—and Yeji’s.”
Ryujin’s brows shoot up, the hint of a smirk returning. “I’m listening.”
Hayun’s gaze hardens, and she takes a steadying breath. “I want to frame Mingi for Yuna’s murder.”
For the first time, something close to admiration flickers in Ryujin’s eyes. She straightens, an approving grin spreading across her face. “I’m in,” she says, her voice tinged with a dark thrill.
Ryujin leans back against the cracked brick wall, her eyes gleaming as she sizes up Hayun with a twisted admiration. “I’ve got a few pieces of Yuna’s jewelry stashed away,” she says, almost as if proud of her careful preservation of her sister’s keepsakes.
Hayun gives a curt nod, her mind working quickly. “Good. Get someone to plant them in Mingi’s apartment. And Yeji… tell her to plant something linked to wherever she stashed Yuna. That way, when the police sweep the place, they’ll find enough to make a murder charge stick.”
Ryujin grins, her expression dark and excited. “You want all this done tonight?” she asks, already knowing the answer but enjoying the sheer audacity of it.
Hayun’s gaze is steely. “Tonight,” she says. “Police will be after Mingi tomorrow, and once they’ve got him, the apartment’s a crime scene. You know what that means.”
Ryujin nods slowly, her grin widening. “They all underestimated you, didn’t they? Sunshine Hayun, turning ruthless in the name of justice. Plotting to frame a man for murder…” She laughs, a low, almost reverent sound. “Who knew?”
Hayun shrugs, her face expressionless as she turns to leave. “Who didn’t,” she mutters, barely above a whisper, more to herself than anyone else.
Without another word, she heads off, her footsteps crunching against the scattered gravel as she leaves the dimly lit garden behind. The night air is cool against her skin, a thin veil of mist settling over the street. She shoves her hands into her pockets, her thoughts racing, the plan ticking over in her mind as she walks, one step at a time, closer to home. The air feels almost electric, charged with the risk she’s taken, the trap she’s setting.
But as she turns down a quieter street, something doesn’t feel right. It’s quiet—too quiet. Before she can react, a hand clamps over her mouth, pressing a damp rag against her nose and mouth. She gasps, and a sickly sweet, overpowering scent fills her lungs. She twists, struggling, elbows jabbing backwards in a desperate attempt to fight her way free. Her body thrashes, adrenaline surging as she claws at the arm holding her.
But her vision starts to blur. The world around her begins to darken, her limbs going heavy and uncooperative. Her heart pounds, a distant, fading beat as her strength drains away. With a final, feeble attempt to push back, she loses her grip on consciousness, slipping into blackness, the streetlights fading to stars.
And then nothing.

Minho’s foot slams down hard on the brake as he pulls up outside Yeji’s dingy apartment complex, the tires skidding slightly on the uneven pavement. He barely has the engine off when he and Jisung jump out, both tense and grim, their eyes scanning the shadows of the building’s entrance. Spotting Ryujin leaning against the door, Minho strides over, his face set in a hard line.
Jisung’s eyes narrow immediately. “Where the hell’s Hayun?”
Ryujin’s gaze doesn’t falter as she straightens, crossing her arms. “I don’t know. She left here about an hour ago. And for the record, she was sober. Didn’t take a damn thing.”
Minho, running a hand through his hair, tries to keep his cool, though his face betrays his worry. “Why was she here, Ryujin?”
Ryujin gives a faint smirk, but it doesn’t reach her eyes. “That’s between us girls, unfortunately.”
Minho grits his teeth. “Funny, considering Chan just found her phone smashed on a street nearby and no sign of her.”
Ryujin’s expression flickers, her eyes narrowing. “You’re saying she’s missing? You think someone took her?”
Jisung runs a hand over his face, his voice barely concealing his frustration. “She wouldn’t just disappear like that. Not unless—”
Minho interrupts, his voice steady but edged with a dangerous calm. “If she’s not high, then it makes no sense. She was meeting you for a reason.”
Ryujin sighs, her eyes darting between them. “Alright, alright. I’ll get Yeji to put out some feelers, see what comes up. But you two better be prepared… If this was Mingi…” She shakes her head, a dark look crossing her face. “Let’s just say you should pray it was anyone else.”
Jisung’s jaw clenches. “And what if it wasn’t him?” He swallows, his voice thick. “What if it was one of the killers? If Hayun found out who killed Yuna or… or Chaeryeong.”
Ryujin lets out a breath, glancing away before answering, her voice deliberately measured. “Then you boys better get searching. I’ll work my side, but I’ll tell you this. Before Yuna disappeared, she was getting cold feet with Mingi and Lia. Mingi wasn’t happy. Thought maybe she was working with the cops or something.”
Minho’s gaze sharpens, his fists clenching at his sides. “So, you’re saying you think it’s Mingi?”
Ryujin hesitates, then shakes her head, her expression inscrutable. “No. I think it’s whoever killed Chaeryeong. Mingi’s the kind of guy who’d be planning his exit right now, not sticking around for this. It’s the unknown you should be worried about.”
Jisung glances at her, a hard edge to his voice. “So you’re saying you think Mingi killed Yuna?”
Ryujin lifts her chin, her eyes meeting his steadily. “That’s my theory.”

would u consider what happened to SS Normandie to be twink death
Tumblr media
also WHY NO SS NORMANDIE
Hoooooooo boy. I assume you're referring to my top 25 list of ocean liners? So yeah... uh... i hate to say it, and I'm probably going to get crucified for this, buuuuut.....
I'm not a fan of the SS Normandie.
I know! I'm sorry! But of all my criteria that a ship needs to meet, she just doesn't hold up! First, her career. It was PATHETICALLY short. Only 1935 to 1939. She sat in New York for a few years until she burned down (as is the tradition of French liners cough cough). The most interesting part of her career was her rivalry with the Queen Mary, but personally, I just think that story is way more interesting from the Queen Mary's side. I think the story of her engineering is interesting, like her turboelectric engines, and her hydrodynamic hull, but I think the engineering of ships like the SS United States is just more interesting! People say she's the most beautiful ship ever engineered, buuuut....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, I just don't get it. ESPECIALLY compared to her younger fleetmate, the SS France
Tumblr media
Or her OLDER fleetmate, the SS Île de France
Tumblr media
Who had a MUCH more interesting career, by the way.
Anyway, people point to her interiors as an art deco masterpiece..... BUUUUUUT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look, from an artistic standpoint, I would never argue that these interiors are gorgeous. But people often forget that this isn't an art museum. It's an ocean liner. People are expected to live in these spaces for at least 4 or 5 days. Would you feel comfortable staying in a hotel that looked like this? With all the metal and marble and stone? This cold, towering, imposing atmosphere? It feels like a goddamn palace, and not in a good way. I'd be afraid to touch anything. Like I said, it's pretty, I just dont think it serves it's purpose very well. And people from the 1930s generally agreed with me. Many people described it as being "too much" and bordering on gaudy. I vastly prefer the Queen Mary's, Queen Elizabeth's, and Caronias take on Art Deco.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They just feel so much more homey and warm and inviting. Personally, I'll always prefer the Edwardian decor, which was a more restrained version of the Victorian decor. The Olympic's grand staircase, first class lounge, and a la carte restaurant are my favorite examples.
So anyway, those are the reasons I'm not a fan of the SS Normandie. Her story is short and largely uninteresting, and the way it is interesting, other ships like the Mary and the Big U do those things better. Her exterior is weird looking and ugly, and her interiors are oppressive, gaudy, and downright uncomfortable. I just never understood the love for Normandie. Anyway, if you disagree with any of my points, PLEASE let me know! I love talking to people about this stuff ^ω^

predator and prey chapter 10 (hazbin hotel reader insert)
“It isss not my fault!” The snakes' voice was clear as day as you walked down the steps, “I wasss not the one to lose it!”
“Your little egg bois were the last to have the remote, therefore it is your fault!” Angel snapped, and the image of the spider demon crouched and looking under the couch filled your vision.
You stopped in the middle of the staircase and watched curiously. It had been a few weeks of you consistently being at the hotel and consistently participating in whatever activity Charlie planned. Thankfully she didn’t have one every day, it was closer to twice and sometimes three times a week. Less now that Valentino seemed to be constantly needing Angels' attention at the studio, which had been making the princess frustrated and upset. She wanted him to have more time at the Hotel and less time at the studio.
So you started talking with Vaggie. You knew that Charlie would take your concerns and ideas into consideration, but you still were a stranger. It would be better coming from her girlfriend, someone she trusts entirely. You offhandedly one time while talking with Vaggie that Charlie is the princess, she could be using the power behind that title a lot more.
It wasn’t a direct nudge, but a nudge nonetheless, however. Planted the seed inside Vaggies mind and all you had to do was wait for it to work.
The couch was suddenly flipped over and a hiss of success came from Sir Pentious. “Aha! Sssee! I told you! You had let it ssslip between the cussshions!”
Angel groaned and grabbed the remote, and his lower two arms grabbed the couch and set it back right, brushing off the dust and dirt that had gotten on it from the floor. “I still think it was your egg bois. I was careful!”
You laughed at the argument which caused the two to stop bickering back and forth and turn to look over at you. You gave a small wave, and a small smile, and finished the rest of the steps down.
Angel quickly jumped over the couch, “Heya toots! Maybe you know who had the remote last?”
You shrugged, thought for a moment, and answered. “That might’ve been me, actually. I am the worst about putting the remote back in place.”
You’d take the blame for the lost and quickly found remote. It was something small enough that you didn’t mind and even if it wasn’t your fault, it stopped the ever-growing argument that would surely continue to escalate. You found it fun to watch the two argue, especially when the stakes weren’t that high, but it was early in the morning, and you hadn’t had any sort of caffeine so your threshold of dealing with chaos was low.
Within the few weeks that you had been staying in the hotel, you managed to get a hold of Mimzy. The conversation didn’t last long, and she had tried to talk her way out of fulfilling the favor you had with her until you said it would fulfill three favors instead of just one. That had changed her tune and she gladly accepted, saying that she’d stop by in her own time but promised it would be soon enough.
In those few weeks, you also came into ownership of a dozen souls. Someone had thought they could get the better of you, pull a cloth over your eyes, and start a rebellion against you. Dealing with that had been one of the few days you left the hotel, a day where there hadn’t been any activities planned and most of the residents were off doing their own thing as well. Owning nearly twenty souls you could feel the small surge of power inside your veins.
It was nothing compared to the Overlords, you knew that. They still wouldn’t even give you a second glance, to them you were just like any other Overlord wannabe, who wouldn’t amount to anything. The power was enough to send a chill down the average sinner's spine, however, and people started noticing. Not great for your plan, but still manageable. You could still hide it underneath the power of the princess and the Radio demon while you were at the hotel as well.
“Perhapsss we should add a ssstring attached to the remote and attach it to the side of the couch! That way it cannot get stuck beneath the couch or between the cussshions!” Sir Pentious spoke up with a solution to the problem and Angel seemed to nod in agreement. It was a good idea.
“Great idea, you two figure out how to do that while I go get myself some coffee and maybe a bagel for breakfast.” You waved and turned. As you walked down the hall to the kitchen, you heard Angels' voice shout behind you.
“Don’t eat the last Everything bagel!”
You smiled, laughed, and shook your head. Inside the kitchen, you were thankful to find yourself alone. You weren’t ready for any more interactions yet for the day and were hoping that it would be a day without any sort of redemption activity by Charlie. The daily routine took over and you managed to start the coffee without much thought and searched through the pantry for a bagel that wasn’t the last Everything bagel. When the other bags came up empty, you threw them away and shut the pantry, opting out of a meal for breakfast. You’d just eat lunch then, and a bigger dinner, and have more than two cups of coffee.
The mug was warm from the hot liquid inside and you took a sip. The taste wasn’t the best, you definitely preferred your own bag but the last time you had bought a bag of good coffee grounds, it was gone in two days and no one would fess up on using it. Even when Charlie made it into an activity, saying that honesty was the best policy in this situation, no one came forward. You just assumed everyone had been a culprit, even the princess herself, and opted out of buying coffee again. So everyone was stuck with the cheap coffee grounds instead.
The best coffee you had since being in Hell had been the times you had stayed at the Vee Tower in Velvettes apartment. She somehow had the best coffee grounds, the best syrups, cinnamon sticks, an espresso machine, and a dozen other coffee add-ons you weren’t entirely sure existed back on Earth while you were alive. The Overlord always made the best coffee too, though that was more rare than you staying at the Vee tower. Twice, it had happened,
You placed your mug down and leaned against the counter, eyes closed as you took in a deep breath. So much had happened in the past few weeks, so much and so little at the same time. You could tell that Charlie was getting frustrated with the lack of results on redemption, you could see the stress on her face and behind her eyes, even though she did well at trying to hide it from the others. She was concerned about everyone in the hotel, about how if redemption didn’t work, then she’d have to face failure. Not just failure, failure, and admitting it to everyone she cares for.
That was a lot, for anyone.
“You certainly are an interesting fellow, aren’t you!” Alastors voice filled the silent air within the kitchen,
At this point, you should’ve been used to the Radio demon sneaking up on you at any moment but you still jumped slightly in surprise. You were glad you had set the mug down, knowing that you would’ve spilled some of its contents if it had still been in your grasp. “I try not to be, yet I am.”
The much taller demon leaned against his microphone as he seemed to study you, his smile tightening ever so slightly in such a way that if you hadn’t been watching him closely you would’ve missed it. “There’s a few rumors going around about you, you know! Though I would be a gentleman and let you know.”
“Rumors?” You feigned shock as you grabbed your mug and took a sip. You knew of these ‘rumors’, they were the cause of the souls you had acquired.
“Oh yes! You know what they say about rumors, they all stem from half-truths and jealousy.” His tone was joyful, the radio filter bouncing slightly in the air, “Rumors can be dangerous too, of course, for those who hear them and those who they are about!”
You couldn’t tell if that was a threat directly toward you or not, so you’d act like it was until proven otherwise. That was the safest option, you had learned that quickly. If you ever thought someone might be threatening you, likely they were.
“Well, care to tell me what these rumors are? So I can be prepared?”
Alastor seemed to mull over the request before he shook his head once. “Nope!”
“Fantastic.” You rolled your eyes at his refusal, though you weren’t entirely shocked by it, just frustrated. You wanted to know if there was more than just the one you knew of. You’d have to figure that out for yourself then.
Just as Alastor was about to make another comment, he stopped himself as Angel came into the kitchen with an annoyed huff and a frustrated look on his face. He grabbed a to-go cup, filled it up with the rest of the coffee in the pot that you had made, muttered a quick apology, and left just as quickly as he had entered.
You watched for a moment, catching a brief moment of Angel's phone with his texts open with Valentino. Another call into the studio, it seemed. You felt bad, for Angel, truly. No one deserved what he was put through in that studio, no one deserved to go through what Valentino put him through. That would be one of the first things that would change, once you got all the Vees under your thumb, setting Angel go along with every other soul Valentino has under him.
“Well, I guess I need to go figure out what sort of rumors have been started about me and if I need to correct them or just play into them for the fun of it.” You turned to face Alastor and gave an almost mocking smile back towards the Radio demon. Before he could answer, you left the kitchen, coffee mug in hand, and sipped the contents.

"Kar'niss!" He snapped out of his trance, the echoing sound of his Matron bellowing his name quick to motivate him to rise. He scrambled out of his cobbled together bedding, nearly tripping over himself as he climbed the staircase so quickly he did so on all fours. His body ached, exhaustion his constant companion under the demanding nature of his keeper.
He rushed through the door of his Matron's chambers coming to the side of her lavish bed dripping in opulent dressing. Kar'niss dropped to his knees and bowed until the tip of his nose kissed the marble floor beneath him. "M-Matron, tell me your desire." Lounging in a sea of red and gold trimmed silk sheets was the lady of their noble house, Kyrzhal. Her white locks spilled over dark shoulders, scantly garbed in a sheer black night dress that did little to conceal her feminine form. Red eyes darted to peer at the cowering creature at her beside, her upper lip curling into a less than impressed sneer. "My desire? For you to be useful, just once." Her voice was melodic and alluring yet the deadly venom behind every syllable was baked in, permanent. She sat up and turned herself so her legs dangled over the bed's edge, leaning back on the palms of her hands. Despite her lithe build she towered over him upon her luxurious perch, her shadow cast over him like the looming threat she was. "I-I don't understand, mistress. I live to serve, live for you. My only purpose is to satisfy your every whim." Kar'niss's muscles tensed as he spoke, seeking to bow even lower though such was hardly possible. Kyrzhal tipped her chin upward indignantly, her thin fingers curling into the thick nest of bedding surrounding her. Her leg snapped forward in order to step on the back of his neck, applying a great deal of pressure which forced his face harder into the floor. He cried out from the sudden assault able to sense the threat of his nose breaking against the surface of the floor. "But my whims aren't satisfied!" She snarled. "Do you not understand? You continue to draw breath because of my mercy, my protection."
She applied more pressure to the back of the drow's neck causing him to claw at the floor in pain, trying to move out of instinct but finding himself held in place. "P-P--hrk! Please!" "You'll have to beg better than that if you desire my forgiveness. You'd still be shoveling rothe shit if I didn't pull you from the dung pits. Here I thought I had found a reasonable consort but instead I ended up with a sniveling child." She rolled her eyes and gave her fingers a curl until the knuckles popped one by one. "I'm ss--sorry! You're right mistress, I am l-lower than filth, unworthy!" His voice muffled against the floor, his lips now coated in the blood oozing from his impacted nose. The Matron exhaled a slow, frustrated sigh as the man begged for his life, a common occurrence in this household. Her foot soon relented the battery, lifting her leg to relinquish her hold. He jolted upright and clapped his hands over his nose, lines of crimson smeared across his lips and chin. She watched the display with a blank stare, as if annoyed by the reaction of her punishment. "The next time I tell you to make my bed properly, no lumps, no creases, no sheet out of place, I trust it'll be performed correctly the first time." Kar'niss nodded quickly while continuing to wipe the blood away now limited to breathing through his mouth, resulting in a nasally reply.
"Yes mistress, the first time. No mistakes, no creases, it will be perfect for my Matron. I promise!" "Good. Because next time you anger me, I'll remove your cock. It's likely the most useless feature you have. There are many drow men who are far superior fucks." Her eyes narrowed. "Now piss off. The mere sight of you disgusts me." Kar'niss grimaced at the threat but knew better than to argue. He'd bow to her once more and then slink free of her presence, crawling out of the room. He returned to his chamber rattled and on edge. His legs were still healing from the last time he displeased her, bound in bandages caked in dried blood. There was never a moment of reprieve, never a time he could so much as breathe without attracting her ire. He grabbed a rag to press to his nose which was now tender to the touch. He felt the biting sting of moisture collecting in his eyes threatening to escape. He bit them back despite the pain, despite the anguish, determined to be stronger than his Matron believed him to be. Retreating to a corner in his room he tucked himself away as far as he could manage, hoping the sparse darkness in the space would be enough to protect him. His luck would change one day he was certain of it. This was merely a test by Lolth, a rite of passage for him to become more than a plaything for a sadist. He had to do one thing first, the only thing that could ensure his freedom, his ascension. "Worthy. I. Will. Be. Worthy!"

Kuro: Phew, we’re finally here. Are ya tired, little miss?
Souma: You’re sorry that I have to carry your luggage…? Fufu, worry not. To be of service to you, Anzu-dono, brings me great joy.
Keito: Sorry about that, I live in a temple on top of a mountain. I mean, climbing this long stone staircase is perfect for training your body, but...
Kuro: All three of us are pretty proud of our physical fitness, but it must’ve been hard for ya, right? We’ve been coming to visit now and then, so we’ve gotten pretty used to the trek.
Souma: Umu. That was back during the ‘Harouin Paati’, when we came to visit Hasumi-dono to consult him…
Keito: I was a little surprised that you two showed up all of a sudden back then.
Keito: Now that we’ve successfully finished working on the Halloween Party stage, I can look back and say that it was a good experience, struggles and all.
Kuro: I guess. Check it out, with the trees on the mountain turnin’ into all these bright colors, ya can really feel the seasons changin’.
Souma: The scenery is quite picturesque as well. The atmosphere is serene and comforting…♪
Keito: The temple is a fair distance from ES, so it’s the ideal spot to pass the time leisurely after performances.
Kuro: Come to think of it, little miss Anzu approached us just as we were makin’ plans to hang out.
Kuro: Now that the Halloween Party is done and dusted with, we were thinkin’ about spendin’ some time relaxin’ as a Unit before the SS began in earnest.
Souma: We had thought that we could relax and enjoy ourselves at his parent’s temple, and if perchance we wished to have a ‘ressun’, it would provide an ideal location. Hasumi-dono proposed the idea to us.
Keito: Then Anzu approached us…. The rest is history.
Keito: You said that you wanted to discuss my ‘Special Outfit’ whenever I felt comfortable, so I took the opportunity to invite you over as well.
Keito: Though truthfully, I asked you to accompany us in part, for our own convenience. Are you sure that this isn’t a bother?
Keito: … I see. It’s a relief that this doesn’t disrupt your schedule.
Keito: Well, we can’t make any progress by just standing around and talking about it. I’ll lead you to the temple nave. Anzu, both of you, follow me.
Tumblr media
Keito: … Anzu, what’s the matter? Why are you looking around like that?
Keito: Ah, you’re asking about your luggage? You can leave it where you please, I don’t mind. This room is large enough that you can make use of the space in any way you’d like.
Keito: It isn’t like I can offer exceptional hospitality, but I would like you to relax and take it easy for once, since you're always busy and working
Keito: Of course, the I feel the same towards Kiryu and Kanzaki. I’ll bring you all some tea. Would you prefer it iced, or hot?
Kuro: ‘ppreciate the sentiment, but I don’t really feel like sittin’ down. My body’s gotten perfectly warmed up from climbin’ that stone stairway.
Souma: Umu, I feel the same. If Anzu-dono and Hasumi-dono do not mind, I’ll leave my suitcase here and go on a light stroll.
Souma: I thought I would enjoy a bit of ‘uokingu’ and admire the splendid autumn foliage.
Kuro: Oh, sounds sweet. Then I’ll join ya, Kanzaki. Let’s go visit the storeroom for a bit.
Keito: … Hm, I understand. You want to practice in the storeroom like usual? Then I’ll give you the key.
Kuro: Haha. It ain’t that far, so we’ll just turn around and head straight back as soon as we reach the storeroom. Right, Kanzaki?
Souma: Umu ♪ I shall bask in nature together with Kiryu-dono.
Kuro: Danna, little miss, see ya.
Keito: … You’re asking why I didn’t go for a stroll as well? I don’t particularly care to observe the scenery in the yard or the mountains behind the house, since I’ve admired it time and again since I was little.
Keito: Ah, no, if you’d like to have a look, then I’ll give you a tour at the very least.
Keito: There’s something you want me to see, not something you want to see?— Hm. So you’ve already put down some costume plans in this sketchbook.
Keito: … All these drawings with sticky notes between the pages, are these ideas for my costume?
Keito: I assumed you’d just have me choose from several options, but I’m surprised to see that you thought of a detailed design, including various alternative patterns and accessories.
Keito: I've always taken good care of you, and so you wanted to show me how much you’ve grown… Well, I don’t really think I’ve been able to help you nearly as much as you’ve helped me recently.
Keito: But still, you do respect and rely on me.
Keito: I’m always available for you to occasionally consult for advice. It might not feel easy, but you can call me whenever.
Keito: In regards to the designs, is it alright if I look over them now? I'm afraid you'll just have to sit idle in the meantime…
Keito: You’re asking if I’d like some tea? Hm… I wouldn’t mind some hot tea, but… Sorry for making you serve me, even though I invited you over to my house in the first place.
Keito: The kitchen is down the hallway, to the right. Feel free to use the teapot and tea leaves on the shelf.
Keito: In the meantime, I’ll repay your kindness by looking over these designs meticulously… ♪
[Later]
Tumblr media
Keito: … Thank you, Anzu. I had a look through the design proposals.
Keito: Now, don’t look so worried. The thought of lecturing you hadn’t even crossed my mind, rather, I’m overflowing with praise.
Keito: Maybe it’s due to the fact that I’m the one that’s going to wear it, there were an abundance of Kimono-style designs.
Keito: I could discern from these design proposals that you tried your hardest to figure out how to make it feel like ‘me’.
Keito: Some of them felt inspired by the design of costumes I’ve worn in the past. They reminded me of Tsukimi Live and Daikagura, so it made me feel a little nostalgic.
Keito: And the ideas on this page, they were inspired by the Halloween performance from the other day, right?
Keito: Taking into consideration the fact that this is my ‘Special Outfit’, I felt that a Kimono would be best. I was also drawn to this idea because of the beautiful ornaments and accessories.
Keito: … Thank you for coming up with so many different ideas for me.
Keito: As I looked through each of your ideas, I could feel how much you’ve grown, and it deeply moved me.
Keito: You definitely aren’t the same person as the ‘you’ back in the days of the ‘Quarrel Festival’ that would think up unhinged plans. Something like the ‘Wasshoi festival’ or whatever, you’d never—
Keito: Oi, wait. Why are you looking at me like that. Don’t tell me you haven’t given up on the ‘Beat the Heat! Wasshoi something festival’?
Tumblr media
Keito: …Just to be sure, I’ll check. You haven’t made any such designs for my ‘Special Outfit’…
Keito: Don’t be in such a hurry to deny it, it makes you look even more suspicious. If you haven’t actually proposed it as an idea, I won’t say anything.
Tumblr media
Keito: Well, I’ll let you off the hook. The idea seemed to have crossed your mind…. But you managed to exercise self-control this time, so I’ll let it slide.

Zoé tapped her fingers on the wheel as she watched the light. She blew out a breath and stretched so she was pressed against her seat.
She was now wishing she’d just stayed home, or better yet been on the subway. But Tim had insisted she take the car, because he wasn't using it today. Even though he knows that taking the subway is faster, and you're less likely to end up with this.
You know what, maybe they should have moved to California for her job, maybe she should have moved to Gotham full-time.
But no. No. They both agreed on New York, so he’d stop focusing on vigilante things better, and so she could take a break from filming for a bit.
Zoé pulled ahead when finally the people ahead of her started going. She let out a soft huff as she kept having to stop and go. Next time, she was not letting Tim talk her into using the car again. She’ll just go and get on the subway, like she usually did.
Half an hour later she was pulling into the parking complex. Which made her think of another thing! If they didn't have the car in the first place they wouldn't have the parking fee on their monthly bills.
She tried to tell Tim that they didn't need a car, but he wouldn't listen. It’s not her fault he grew up in a quicker-to-navigate city. Truly that was possibly a blessing, living in a densely populated area that could still be easily transported around.
Zoé rubbed her hands down her face and let out an exhausted breath.
She’s home; work’s good; Tim is making dinner; she could relax.
She grabbed her purse and locked the car up before heading to their apartment. Zoé glanced between the staircase and the elevator, she knew the obvious answer. She had already made the decision before even making here, but she was considering taking the stairs to maybe help wake her up a bit more.
She pursed her lips before rolling her eyes, having made up her mind. Soon enough she was in the elevator, slouching against the cool metal transport box.
She really hoped Tim wasn’t finished with dinner, meaning she could just lie down for a hot second before eating. She couldn’t even remember what they agreed on…or what Tim chose. Whatever it was, she knew it would be good.
The elevator dinged and Zoé brought herself up, grabbing her keys out of her purse. She as quickly as she could for as tired as she felt unlocked the door, being sure to lock it behind her.
The smell of pepper, eggs, and bacon was what first registered to her senses. Zoé couldn’t help herself, she closed her eyes inhaling the smell of food in their home with a pleased hum. She had slipped off her shoes before she even reopened her eyes, a rather large smile on her face as she hung up her purse and coat.
The blond was a little more than eager making her down the short hallway to the rest of their home, hanging her keys despite her fast steps. She had to stop abruptly at what greeted her over the countertops to the kitchen.
Her boyfriend in his favorite pair of Batman-themed pajama bottoms, her daffodil diagram crop top, and headphones that also acted to help hold his hair back from his face.
Zoé’s mouth had been slightly parted in confusion at the scene before her, but she slowly leaned against the wall as a small, soft, and extremely amused smile graced her lips. She held herself at her elbows and let her head rest against the wall, watching her boyfriend nod his head side to side to whatever music may be playing. She had no doubt he already knew she was there. He was simply enjoying himself in the kitchen.
Tim turned to her and gave a wide smile, “Dinner’s almost ready.”
Zoé pressed her lips together in a tight smile, one that made her eyes squint at him. She didn’t want to move, just watch this moment, this moment of her adorable boyfriend walking around the kitchen with a stolen shirt.
Wasn’t that her job? To steal his clothes? There’s rules weren’t there?
It only made sense for Tim to break even the silliest of rules.
“Welcome home,” the shirt thief said lovingly as he made his way to her, “Dinner’s done.”
“I see that,” Zoé spoke as she stopped leaning against the wall.
“Really? You look close to passing out,” he teased.
Zoé locked her fingers on the nape of his neck and leaned her head back, “Promise I’m not quite there Rob.”
“You sure Honey,” he leaned closer to her, and reached his hands around her to hold his wrists.
“I’m quite sure,” she insisted in an almost whisper. She leaned up, both of them smiling as they kissed, but Zoé had to pull away. A soft laugh came from her lips and she brought one her hands to cover her mouth.
“What,” Tim’s brows came down in confusion, and his mouth practically a pout.
“You’re scratchy,” Zoé giddily snickered behind her hand.
Tim frowned and reached for his face, rubbing the light stubble that had started making itself known. His voice was a little disheartened, “Guess I forgot the past few nights. I’ll shave tonight.”
“No,” Zoé grabbed his face. She grinned, “I like it.” Almost as though to prove it she kissed him again. With a bright smile she said, “You should grow it out a little. You’ve never had much facial hair.”
“I have,” Tim argued, but Zoé shook her head.
“Fake ones don’t count,” she stated firmly. She looked between his eyes and the stubble, she ran her thumb over it, “Just try it out.”
Tim sighed, “Because you asked.”
“Thank you,” she extended the second word before kissing the man again.
