"He [Jensen] improvised some stuff on the day as well… He was like, “When Carlos asks this question, I want to say like, ‘That’s a good question, Carlos.’ We had talked about this, and we never said it officially, but I referenced the name Carlos in an episode of Supernatural, and in my mind, it was always the same Carlos, just a different universe. It was kind of a way to acknowledge that a little bit in a way without him meddling any further in this universe." - Robbie Thompson (x)

I will be happy if John gets better temporarily and other three have dips where they lose their shit, actually. Chronic illness is chronic, and the thing about it is that it sucks … it can pull you under right at any moment, even in the moments where you think you’ve beaten it.
Those are perhaps the most devastating times for it to strike.
Suddenly your coping mechanisms fail, and you feel such intense shame for failing because you thought you understood and you thought you’d figured it out, and it feeds itself like a fire, and you sink deeper and deeer.
Major life events, loss of loved ones, the horror of your occupation … anything can be a major tripping hazard.
That was the appeal for me of the original show. That anyone can be backed into a corner. Even our so-called good guys. Especially when you care about ppl. There’s no secret recipe for mushing your brain into a righteous path and always making the right decision.

Formula 1 Drivers as Supernatural Episodes
I have selected 2 episodes from the CW's hit show Supernatural for each driver in the 2024 F1 season. Enjoy!
These are episodes I feel fits a driver's personality/vibe/style/history and are meant to be complimentary. This is very vibes based XD
Presented in team order <3 (also I guess spn spoilers warning)
Charles Leclerc: Lazarus Rising x The Man Who Would Be King
Charles and the angel Castiel have a lot in common. Charles is seen as this figure that is leading Ferrari currently and into the future and his first season in Ferrari was iconic (Lazarus Rising) Dare I say some of his drives have been as insane as pulling a man out of hell. However it's been a bumpy road and the burdens of one of the most iconic teams is enough to try the patience of any man (The Man Who Would Be King) There are a lot of faith and religious parallels to be made here. If there was one driver insane enough to try to single-handedly fix heaven (Ferrari) Charles is that driver. Also you could cast him as Cas and I don't think anyone would complain. I could go on about the Charles-Cas parallels but we do have to get to the rest of the grid, so he gets two stand-out Castiel episodes.
Carlos Sainz: Trial and Error x The Devil You Know
Carlos sometimes smashes through plans like a hammer, sometimes you need schemes other times you need to throw them out the window and start punching (The Devil You Know). He's also been through the Ferrari trials which is no small feat, often requiring a lot of pressure and sacrifice (Trial and Error). I also feel like he could wrestle a hellhound and come out winning.
Lewis Hamilton: Swan Song x First Born
I felt that one of the most iconic final battles in Supernatural of Swan Song was fitting to encapsulate Lewis' many hard fought WDCs. In addition to First Born, where Dean goes to take the mantle of the mark of Cain from a man who keeps bees in his retirement (Lewis taking WDC from Seb parallels) Both massive turning points in the show and iconic, like Lewis. A lot of small plot and emotional beats in these two that really touch on some career moments.
George Russell: Defending Your Life x Girls Girls Girls
If there was any driver on the grid who would enter into a legal battle against an ancient god and win it's George Russell (Defending Your Life). Additionally George is one of the few who could pull off witchcraft with ease while looking iconic doing so (Girls, Girls, Girls) I just think George and Rowena would get along and get up to some trouble with the book of the damned.
Max Verstappen: The Executioner’s Song x In The Beginning
The parallels of young talent coming in to take down the former bearer of the mark of Cain to Max's 2021 WDC are strong. It was hard, it was messy, and it was one hell of a fight (The Executioner’s Song). Then we have more emotional nuance (In The Beginning) a guy who just likes cars and is kind of old school about them too. These episodes are nuanced and plot centric and that felt fitting. The vibes are here you have to trust me on this.
Sergio Perez: Our Father Who Aren’t in Heaven x Criss Angel is a Douchebag
Do not underestimate Checo, much like you should not underestimate an arch angel that is related to you, and yet. The parallels between Adam, the third Winchester brother, and Checo are not lost, especially in meta context (Our Father, Who Aren’t in Heaven). Then of course Checo does have a flair and charm about him, he can pull a trick or two out of a car when people least expect (Criss Angel is a Douchebag).
Fernando Alonso: Good God Y’all x Weekend at Bobby’s
Fernando is chaos, he's here to cause unapologetic trouble, if he were to be a horseman of the apocalypse he'd be War and he'd have a hell of a time (Good God Y'all). Of course if there was one driver on the grid I know could figure out how to get his soul back from a demon after selling his soul in the first place Fernando would be that driver (Weekend at Bobby's) Naturally there are many Nando and Bobby parallels.
Lance Stroll: Scoobynatural x Hibbing 911
Of all the drivers on the grid at risk of getting sucked into a children’s cartoon I feel like Lance is at the top of the list (Scoobynatural). In addition I think he would be the chill hunter just casually explaining that ghosts are real to Scooby and the gang. Lance would also reluctantly become a vampire hunter if they invaded his small community (Hibbing 911) And he very much reminds me of both Donna and Jody in various ways.
Oscar Piastri: About a Boy x Jack in the Box
I feel like Oscar would be a good witch hunter, I also think if he was hit with a de-aging spell he'd be able to handle it and not panic and figure out how to get out of that situation, worry about the soul crushing curse later (About a Boy). And of course with the way his second season in F1 has been going it very much feels like Mclaren have been holding back a young driver from reaching his potential because they are afraid of his capabilities, you could say they have been putting a nephilim in a box designed to hold back his power (Jack in the Box). Also I cannot be the only one who sees the Jack and Oscar resemblance.
Lando Norris: Swap Meet x I Know What You Did Last Summer
Tell me Lando would not somehow end up practicing black magic accidentally on purpose and somehow survive (Swap Meet). That and I think he would also really like this episode in general. I feel like the duality between Ruby and Anna presented in I know What You Did Last Summer captures a very specific vibe about Lando, is he the demon trying to trick a guy into drinking his blood? Or is he the angel that decided to become human because he was done with heaven's shit? Depends on the day honestly.
Kevin Magnussen: Rock Never Dies x Survival of the Fittest
If there was any driver on the grid that would make crashing the Impala part of the plan to take down eldritch monsters it would be Kmag (Survival of the Fittest). Rock Never Dies just fits Kevin, iconic, villainous, Lucifer comes back a second time and is ready to cause chaos. The whole vibe of this episode is insane and it fits Kevin's particular brand of heart and unique driving. He's loud, you are not going to forget he's there, you should be afraid.
Nico Hulkenberg: Shut Up Dr Phil x My Heart Will Go On
Nico just has the look of a man who would time travel to get rid of a single Celine Dion song (My Heart Will Go On). He does have a lot in common with Balthazar, fun loving but powerful and can execute a plan, he might just end up adding his own flair to it. And I think Nico's spats with others are not frequent, but when they do happen they are memorable (Shut Up Dr Phil) Plus he reminds me of these old witches who have been married a few centuries and keep the chaos alive.
Ollie Bearman: The Girl with the Dungeon and Dragons Tattoo x Reading is Fundamental
Including Ollie in the Haas section since he's raced for them the most this year on the F1 grid. But his story starts as the young talent called at the last minute to solve a huge problem, driving a Ferrari in Jeddah with an hour of practice. I'd say that's similar to being suddenly asked to single-handedly go against some of the most dangerous monsters in the world with no training in monster fighting (The Girl with the Dungeon and Dragons Tattoo) but also being surprisingly good at it. Then we have another team needing young talent to step up and drive their car when things were down, you could say Ollie is in advanced placement in terms of being an F1 rookie now (Reading is Fundamental) I think the Ollie Kevin Tran comparisons are strong. Overall these two episodes of young talent needed at the last minute to save the day really sum up Ollie's 2024 F1 experience.
Yuki Tsunoda: The Gamblers x A Little Slice of Kevin
Sometimes luck is on Yuki's side, and often times it feels like it's not. But then again he's been fighting and sticking around longer than most other drivers in the face of more bad luck than one man should deal with, so perhaps he's won against an old roman god for a bit of luck, who's to say (The Gamblers). Then we get to the duality in A Little Slice of Kevin, young talent being used as a pawn in the larger scheme of Red Bull, more likely than you'd think. Is he escaping purgatory or being captured by demons? Probably both.
Daniel Ricciardo: Frontierland x Blood Brother
I know one thing about Danny, he would time travel back to the wild west to hunt down a rare monster no questions asked. He would bring his own cowboy hat as well (Frontierland). Danny also has that quality of guy who doesn't ask for much, so when he asks for a favor you gotta help. He also does have similar vibes to Benny, don't tell me he wouldn't make a great southern vampire (Blood Brother).
Liam Lawson: War of the Worlds x Bad Day at Black Rock
Similar to Yuki, Liam's luck is a tricky thing. He was in a will he won't he situation at Red Bull for so long. If he had a rabbit's foot he kept losing and picking up again I wouldn't be surprised (Bad Day at Black Rock). I think the episode really captures that kind of swinging pendulum of luck his junior career has seen. Then of course now he's been called to the seat he's caught up in a pretty intense battle at the end of the season, with a lot of demands being made on top of the constant turmoil within the team. Imagine Lucifer is telling you not to do a spell another powerful arch angel is commanding you to do, I feel like that about sums up how he's been thrown into F1 (War of the Worlds).
Alex Albon: Heart x It’s A Terrible Life
Alex was a rookie that went under the radar, at first, but something bigger was brewing in the background and then boom he was suddenly at the center of the driver market and was thrown into the spotlight. A feeling reflected in It's A Terrible Life. Alex is also the type of try to help someone against all odds, even when they seem impossible (Heart). Also I am not denying I am possibly calling him a werewolf fucker, here but tell me I'm wrong.
Logan Sargeant: Jump the Shark x Dog Dean Afternoon
Logan would do well being able to communicate with a dog and would adapt well to taking on dog-like traits to solve a case (Dog Dean Afternoon) I don't even think he'd question it. Forgotten, overlooked, massively unlucky I don't think there is a better Supernatural parallel for Logan than season 4 Adam (Jump the Shark). He was a great guy who got caught in the middle of something dangerous and paid the price.
Franco Colapinto: Red Sky at Morning x Sharp Teeth
Franco is one of the guys who I just think would be able to make it work for him if he were accidentally turned into a werewolf. He'd take a few months off, come back and be totally fine (Sharp Teeth). I cannot fully explain but Franco does give me Bella vibes, the mix of mischief and amusing self confidence perhaps, or maybe he just has the look of an international occult thief? (Red Sky at Morning) He'd be able to steal rare artifacts using his looks and charm I know that.
Valtteri Bottas: Party On Garth x Everybody Loves a Clown
Valtteri strikes me as the most like Garth. Fun, a little silly, but good at his job and scary when he needs to be (Party On Garth). His methods may seem a little out there but he gets the job done. How could I not include the introduction of the best mullet on Supernatural? I know Valtteri would love Ash and call him #mulletgoals (Everybody Loves a Clown). Another character who seems a little unserious out of the profession but Ash is brilliant and knows how to lock in.
Zhou Guanyu: Hunteri Heroici x Wayward Sisters
Zhou would 100% interrogate that cat and get information. He's probably an expert (Hunteri Heroici). I think his level headed mindset would also really help in a case where the world is literally going Loony toons. Zhou also has been through it, but is strong, and iconic in his unique way (Wayward Sisters). He's been fighting an uphill battle in that Sauber car, new hunter learning on the job has a similar experience, add a little dimension hopping in there for flavor.
Esteban Ocon: Beyond the Mat x Hollywood Babylon
Esteban is a sweetheart but do not be fooled, he absolutely would take down his childhood hero if he needed to (Beyond the Mat). I also think that he'd absolutely be one of those hunters looking for all the old Hollywood ghosts, he'd be an expert about which myths were real or fake and have that locked down over there (Hollywood Babylon).
Pierre Gasly: Monster Movie x Simon Said
I am not saying Pierre is a shapeshifter, but I am saying that if he was he'd be doing the over the top camp and theatrics seen in Monster Movie. Also he like Dean has a way of finding out how to have fun even when things are extremely stressful. If he did have mind control powers he'd use them for good or not use them at all, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to use them or that he's not strong (Simon Said).
That's the end! Thank you for reading. This was just something silly I have been working on. It's mostly vibes based but I had a lot of fun putting it together.
*Carry on Wayward Son + F1 theme mashup starts playing*

okay here’s the thing about bloody mary. it’s one of the most essential episodes of one of the best seasons of the show. it’s literally the kickoff for the beloved psychic sam arc, and the way it’s done is BRILLIANT. the rambling is under the cut, but first i’ll say that of course the born-again identity is a fantastic episode. it has sam 1) making a friend and 2) suffering immensely, plus the plot-driven sam elements too, so i’m here for it, i am! but it’s NOT bloody mary.
so you’ve got all the nostalgic classics of this era of the show (which i'm having to cut down on for length oops): familiar lore but a good mystery; the lighting & desaturation, the clothes & hair, the shots that are eerily similar to ones seasons down the line (the ahbl and levee parallels alone, oh my god!!!); salmondean lying out of their asses and failing miserably; the bantering; “it might not be our thing” “when is it ever not our thing”; more lying and snooping; the side character of the week experiencing some genuinely scary shit, like, actual horror-movie horror; lines that are funny when you watch them but horribly ironic in hindsight (“600 years of bad luck”); committing b&e and property damage...you get the gist. and sam comes from all this. you can take s7 era away from sam and still have him, but you can't take away this. the roots of the show are the roots of him.
anyway, throughout it all, sam has nightmares. horrible nightmares that we experience with him, but we think they’re normal, and dean thinks they’re normal, and then sam says he has a secret. and we realize that it’s been building up to something. the pinnacle: sam, eyes bleeding, black veins crawling up his face, trying desperately to kill his own reflection as it tells him he’s inhuman. how many times did we see this happen metaphorically over the next five seasons? how huge is this theme for his character? and right here, right now, late at night in an old antique store in midwestern ohio, this is when it starts, when it’s raw, when he’s face to face not with a random character parallel but with himself and the literal mirrors all around him are the inescapable threat and we the audience have our stomachs drop as we realize for the first time that he’s not the Normal One. he’s the Other. there is something Wrong. you had those nightmares for days before she died.
and his reflection told him it was his fault jess died. and he tells the motw victim’s daughter that it’s okay, you couldn’t have stopped your loved one’s death, you should forgive yourself; but when he gets in the car with dean, he keeps his secret. to be normal, to be safe.
and then that last fucking shot, oh my god, those five incredible seconds of cinema: jess standing on a street corner as they drive away with the classic rock music in the background. continuing to raise the question of his psychicness, and ephemeral as ever in her white nightgown, wind in her hair, staring right at him and then she’s gone. and 15 seasons later he will still be thinking about her, and this moment is the last time he ever truly sees her.
this episode is so fundamental. it captures the essence of old-school-spn sam while having narrative and cinematic elements that set the stage for his character throughout the entire rest of the show. born-again identity is sam with a crisis in a hospital; bloody mary is sam with a crowbar and a secret. born-again identity is one of those episodes that’s about him; bloody mary is one of those episodes that’s the heart of him. and bloody mary deserved to win.

for wincest wednesday this fine week: food as love language & touchstone (tastestone?)
palo alto -- with a 4.6-star shawarma place two blocks north of the first shitty dive apartment he scores, and a two-story ethiopian market six blocks west, and more vegetarian and vegan options than sam's seen in his entire life to date -- is a revelation in gastronomic terms.
sam eats tofu for the first time in his life at nineteen; eats tempeh and seitan and vegan cheese. (sam does not eat sardines on saltines because there's nobody to split the tin with, and he can't eat them all on his own.) sam eats breadfruit and resolutely does not think about mutiny on the bounty playing during abc's evening film slot and dean doing his best marlon brando voice, "not even twenty, and a death sentence on your head". (sam does not head straight for north carolina come september with the single-minded intent to eat enough ripe persimmons to make himself sick, but he knows who'll be doing just that.) sam eats swiss chard and lychees and cempedak, and doesn't miss unbruised pieces of apple served to him off the blade of a pocket knife.
sam eats vienna sausages cold, straight from the can with a dash of tabasco when he's feeling -- nostalgic's the wrong word for it, but a close cousin to that. when he misses the white-noise hum of tires on I-95 and the clatter-clank of the forever-broken air-con and his brother contorted in the front seat to pass sam the gallon ziploc of cherries from the farm stand up the road ("dollar-fifty a pound, can you believe it, sammy? fucking love stonefruit season."), already sweating in their plastic bag.
sam eats off-brand cereal and moon pies and hohos -- "hohos? fuck hohos; swiss roll is obviously the superior snack cake and you know it" -- and roller dogs and funyuns when he gets homesick.
sam hoards plastic pots of coffee creamer and flat-topped single-serve bricks of jelly out of unbreakable habit. concord grape, always; strawberry, usually; marmalade and mixed berry and apple butter and honey in nicer places that serve all-day breakfast; blackberry and seedless red raspberry only if he's exceptionally lucky. (these last two, being both rarest and dean's favorites, were more valuable to sam growing up than cigarettes amongst inmates. many a favor has sam bought himself over the years with nothing more than a fistful of jam packets and a winning smile.)
sam licks marshmallow and coconut from between his fingers and doesn't think about the hostess sno-ball, sweet'n'low pink of dean's tongue.
(later -- years later -- when dean waggles his lifesavers and tortilla chips and mountain dew at sam with overtures of breakfast, sam declines. later, he'll find his favorite pineapple soda and a bag of chili lime pork rinds under the bench seat because of all the people in all the world, the one who's never let sam go unfed is dean.)
MWAH! happy snacking; cilla/mdbp 😈🎉
happy wincest wednesday!!
you KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!!!!!! GRAHHHHH!!!!!! YOUR WRITING MAKES ME BARK LIKE A FUCKING DOGGGG!!!!!!! gnawing on this ask like a chew toy.
the swiss rolls??? the food in palo alto?? the JELLY????
AND YOU'RE SO RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
i have so much to say about this!!!! i've used "food as care" in my fics before, and as a form of connection between the two (pretty much all of tell me, why are you still so afraid, in the heaven fic, the vampire fic (in a diff way but still!), love potion no. 9, the mall fic, the outsider pov at the diner fic) because it's so true!
we're 800% not the only people to bring up the "food as care" parallels in media, or even spn--but it's so true!!!
you're so right about food being a love language! one of the first things that dean does in the bunker is make a nice meal for them both and wait for sam to eat first.
dean's "crime" that got him arrested and sent to the boy's home is stealing bread to feed sam. his crime is an act of care! an act of devotion! and it's that same devotion that encourages him to leave!
one of THEE sam&dean scenes that i've seen 400x in every edit ever as proof of dean's devotion/care is dean making sam spaghetti-os in that pot, and then letting him have dean's food instead.
dean keeps trying to ply sam with food and things to drink after his nightmares in the first few seasons, grabbing his face and bringing him close and asking if he's hungry, if dean can get him anything
and of course, arguably the most famous food scenes in the show--tuesday! pig n' a poke! what always makes me giggle is that sam never stops dean from eating? not really? he lets dean order his food every day/finds alternative food (e.g., tacos). even when he gets annoyed, he orders dean's food for him. even when sam himself stops ordering things to eat, he makes sure dean stays fed. it doesn't matter, bc they'll live the same day again tomorrow, but sam lets dean eat!!!!! he lets him eat the meal that makes him happy! they end up in the diner more days than not, it sounds like. he's caring for him, even as he gets frustrated and angry and sad and hopeless!
even when dean dies in that same episode, we see sam eating a meal at his motel, and dean's food is also on the table!!! he's been ordering dean meals for months, even though he's dead!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!
dean seems unnerved and tense around sam when eating in S6, because even though he eats, he doesn't find any joy in it, or teasing dean about it. all their shared meals in early S6 are either tense or disturbingly neutral, where they only talk about their hunts/the overarching plot in bland detail.
hell, dean (and the show) frame the leviathans using biggerson's food as a very personal and dirty betrayal--they use food as a weapon
even in IATL, the "thing" that changes about dean the most that the writers told us first and foremost, is his relationship with food! sam--who has been reaching out all episode and rebuffed--asks to go get food with dean after their initial walls-down moment, and dean denies his attempt at care and connection! he's on a juice cleanse!
many such cases!
i have this headcanon that dean stopped eating certain foods after sam left for stanford. suddenly, he can't stand bugles because they taste like sand in his mouth now that sam is not there to fight him for them.
he asks for no onion rings everywhere he goes because sam's long fingers aren't there to sneak them out of his wax-paper lined plastic fast-food basket.
and as soon as sam comes back, they go out to eat, and dean's like 'god, i can't fucking wait. i haven't had pork rinds/cantaloupe/mac and cheese/a reuben in forever!' and sam just kind of looks at him funny because dean used to eat BBQ pork rinds by the pound and sam gave him shit for it every time. and they used to sneak the little soggy plastic containers of cantaloupe from the cooler outside a publix in florida once a week, dean acting as a distraction by helping old ladies with their carts while sam's tiny hands got slick-wet with week-old re-frozen ice.
and one day, two years into stanford, sam thinks he sees a glimpse of short-cropped hair, freckle-kissed skin through the café window sam's been picking up swing shifts at, and sam leaves the espresso machine still dripping, pushing past a bleary-eyed biology professor sam knows from gen ed, and spins in a circle outside, blinking sun from his eyes.
by the time he can see, the person is gone. and sam is standing in the 7/11 after work, buying a bag of hostess powdered don-ettes because dean used to buy them on sunday morning and they would eat them and watch re-runs of 90210 until their t-shirts were smeared white and their fingers were spit-sticky and soggy while everyone else in georgia and alabama and oklahoma was going to church.
food in supernatural is connection and home and reassurance and care!!!!!
your writing is again so good!!!! thank you for this lovely wincest wednesday ask, blessed, darling cilla!!!! mwah! mwah mwah!!

Okay... committing the extreme sin of actually acknowledging discourse and salt, but fuck it, I would like to say this.
Bitching about how Dean and Cas didn’t get to kiss, especially in an industry where m/f couples are able to kiss after only 7 episodes: valid and understandable and correct, we live in a heteronormative society of double standards for media
Bitching that John and Mary “get to kiss already” when Dean and Cas didn’t: you are not seeing the forest because of the trees
The former point is part of what this show is fucking saying, precisely through the very effective, unsubtle, and repeated Destiel parallels. Part of the reason the show exists AT ALL is to convey that very concept.
Like... if you don’t get this show is deliberately commentating on and critiquing the ending of SPN, then you’re not understanding it!!! Or perhaps–whether or not you're watching it (🙄)–you're doggedly approaching the existence of this show with unfounded wariness in bad faith!!!
I get that people were wary when the show was announced, because I too was not immune to being concerned. I shitposted with the best of them. But now? We're seven episodes in. We've seen that this show is very loud and consistent with its themes, motifs, and veritable verbal bricks that Dean Winchester himself beautifully lobs at our heads to make sure there can be no confusion about some of the key takeaways and lessons. He's leading all of us to water and some of you are actively refusing to drink it.
This show isn't being shy about what it is. It takes a special kind of jaded to look at such content that’s speaking to you, vindicating you, and essentially say “this is probably mean and designed to hurt me for reasons I don’t know yet.” It's very evident to me that being angry at the Supernatural franchise is now a sport, and some people are trying to win it, when in reality that is simply loser behavior.
And my thing is that people will lob around words like bait or clowning or being wary, or whatever the fuck, and I'm like... what are people wary OF? Literally what! WHAT is the expectation here, whether good or bad? Some people are bitching as if they're afraid of getting burnt but like ??? how? What is the fear here!! There is none!!!
Are we afraid that John and Mary, as Dean and Cas parallels, are gonna die? Sorry, we know how that goes! Are we taking this as promise Dean and Cas will show up on screen together in episode 13? Well, whoever is implying that or believing that with sincerity is playing themselves because there is no earthly logical reason to expect that at this juncture.
If everyone could just pay attention to the text of a show on its own merit then maybe we’d have world peace. This show is promising nothing specific in any sense–other than surprises and music and Carlos being fabulously reliably bi–and therefore there is no "bait" (for the love of God) and there are no "hopes" to have that could then be dashed. It’s the most low stakes watch ever. Either we get pleasantly surprised by various things or WE KNOW THE TRAGIC END. Every week is just a fun little gift, to be taken on an episode-by-episode basis!
So it's the journey that matters, not the destination, and it also turns out that that journey has been designed to be filled with unexpected depths. They did NOT have to make this the ever-spinning wheel of Dean mirrors show with new reflections every episode! They did NOT have to provide gleeful parallels to Destiel to repeatedly emphasize how romantic Destiel was from start to finish throughout their story! THEY CHOSE TO DO THAT. And it’s like some people can't conceptualize all of these parallels and all of the mirroring can be on purpose, and to a purpose, while also... [checks notes] not promising explicit Destiel content. (Because why would you think that it is?)
It’s almost like the team involved with this especially Robbie Thompson have something to say, like Dean, and are saying it via the avenue available to them. This show is validating us around constraints and having fun along the way. But perhaps the prerequisite to understanding that–and not approaching any of this in bad faith–is knowing and acknowledging the fact that those constraints exist at all. In other words: if you're a person who still blames "the writers" for the fact that Dean and Cas did not kiss, for example, then the forest you are missing is the heteronormative society that media exists in and the censorship that limits it.
The m/f couples get to kiss when sometimes the m/m couples don't get to not because the writers are mean but often because the people who limit the writers are. This show is playing into that, taking John and Mary through some of Dean and Cas' greatest hits–and I suspect it will continue to do so after the kiss, obviously–in order to say If this is romance, then so is Destiel, in case you somehow missed Cas' confession or doubt the love is reciprocal. If John and Mary get to kiss, so should Dean and Cas. And that, amongst other reasons, is why it's so much fun.
You're not pointing out a fault in the show by clocking that. Dare I say you're fucking using the show the way it's meant to be used, and calling bullshit on SPN's ending the way it wants you–in every capacity–to call bullshit on it. Which is why Dean is narrating at all.
Plus, as Robbie Thompson helpfully says in this interview:
When we first got together in the writers room, it was obviously top of mind when you’re dealing with a show that’s a love story. At what point do you want to really show them take that leap? We always knew we were going to have a winter break or midseason finale of some kind, and it felt like from a dramatic standpoint, that was very quickly on the board as it felt like the right place to put it.
And then it was a question of, “Why this moment?” To your point, obviously, life-or-death moments have a tendency to exacerbate things… The fallout of that kiss is something that we’re going to play for the rest of this first season. You have those moments where you’re swept up in the moment, and it’s like, “OK, here we go.” And then it’s like, “Oh, wait, the world didn’t end. OK. Now what do we do?”
Or, to put it simply:
The romantic moment that happens while the characters are trapped in a room while a threat bangs against the door should not be positioned as the end of a love story. Because there's more story to tell.
Anyone who’s actively repeatedly bitter about this show's existence (whether they’re watching it or not) is choosing to give themselves a bad time at this point. There’s no legitimate reason at this stage to be bitter about what this show is doing. If you wanted the show to suck, then I regret to inform you that ship has sailed because it is indeed quite good. And perhaps... if you are determined to be cynical or bitter about it in the corners of the internet or on the posts where people are enjoying it... you could consider Not Doing That.

Hello 👋 I've come to the point that an intro post seemed necessary, so here's some rapid fire basic info about me.
I go by V or bee on the interwebs, either one's fine :]] I prefer they/them pronouns. Very queer and very inch rested in queer studies/theory. I try my hand as a fanfic writer but I mostly read so hey hmu if you want recs haha wink wink
Fandoms I currently interact with: Supernatural, Hunter X Hunter, Hannibal, Good Omens, Genshin Impact.
I tend to run my mouth a lot heh so here's a few of my rants/analyses/fic word vomits that I'm lowkey proud of (listing them individually for now because I've yet to make a cohesive tagging system 😭 ).
Cas was Dean's win: the rant
Post-canon wedding ring fic idea
SPN finale rant
Destiel daddy issues rant
Destiel parallels to Sam's love life analysis
Lokius and Destiel parallels
Yet another widower! Dean rant

Maybe the reason you hate TW so much is because it's about Jenneel and it shows.
It represents the love they feel for each other and for themselves!
It's like, when you buy something you really wanted, and then give it to yourself on christmas.
Is just a harmless gift, it doesn't really matter if it doesn't became the greatest hit on the cw.
The fact that they got to make TW is already a win for Jenneel!
We are the ones who are going to be the losers, because if it doesn't get enough attention, then we are not getting anymore spn content, ever.
Is not about you, is about them, is their creation and if you don't like it, you can walk away any time. Door is open.
That's exactly the kind of low grade, badly thought crap someone like Danneel would spew because her relationship has always had zero credibility in the eyes of the GA and the only way of getting some attention was carefully choosing a prequel that focused on a couple so she could self insert. Looks like gullible people like you fell for that. 🤣
You must truly know nothing about storytelling or tv shows becausecurently TW isn't about anything, it is so badly written it's all over the place and while it's catchphrase is "an epic lovestory" or something similar, it fails to deliver on all levels. The Actors have no chemistry, the writing is weak and the only reason people are even remotely invested in the show is because they want Dean back on their screens and some want Cas/Dean and even go to crazy lengths to parallel the show with their scenes. Kinda like you are trying to parallel Jensen's lackluster, business arrangement of a marriage with the crappy plot within TW. 🤣
Your level of investment in the Ackles is so creepy I truly wonder if maybe you are either part of their staff or possibly a stalker or even possibly Danneel as she clearly reads the blogs.
As for TW, do you really think any investor is going to invest in Supernatural after seeing it? Then you are truly out of touch. You all can pretend it's good all you want and be as delusional as you want, at the end of the day, the professionals within the industry will evaluate it based on factors far different from yours and it will not live up to their standards on any level. If Jensen wanted a Sam and Dean remake he should have focused on that instead of diluting the SPN brand with this trashy prequel. The sooner it ends the sooner people can forget about it and that's when Jared and Jensen can then start discussions about a potential SPN revival.
Also, it's truly delusional to make everything about the Ackles when in reality any series gets created to make money. Show business is, in fact, a business. TW is a money grab, the difference between it and other series is that other people invested quality in their product and then sold it, they served their public whereas Jenneel were only looking to rip off the SPN fans and this shows in every aspect of their "show".
Also, it is not their creation, they have vanity titles, the others involved in the show created everything about it. You do know what a vanity title is, don't you? If not go listen to jensen's interrogation, he explains it fully in his own words there.
You really need to stop creepily assuming things about people just because you are overobsessed with Jensen and Danneel. I would suggest you grab a piece of paper and for every quality you perceive in them ask yourself what the downside of it is and also where in your life have you yourself displayed those qualities. That will rebalance your perceptions because currently you are stuck on manic perceptions about them.
Instead of writing anon messages to a person who does not fit your target audience as I am not a Jenneel fan and never will be, please go back to your brainwashed cult and let the adults discuss in peace.

the fact that the season 8 finale is a direct parallel to s5 finale but so much worse because this time the stakes are not an eternity of torture vs. saving the world. sam would have gone to heaven And objectively made the world a safer place but because of dean’s inability to let him go of him, because he sees it as a personal failure—he’s pulled back from the brink of eternal peace against his will (coerced consent) and thrust into a cycle so vicious and horrifying while also missing time and chunks of his memory and he doesn’t know what’s real and he wants to leave and leave and leave but he can’t . it’s horrifying in a way that’s incomprehensible … dean’s inability to grow and change due to a deep seated denial of his nature makes him angry and hostile and abusive to everyone around him but especially sam. dean cannot ever fail and sam cannot ever win. the horrors r inconceivable . But ultimately fully consistent w spn canon
#like sam should have been allowed to kill dean actually but he still wouldn’t have done it if offered the choice#did dean Deserve to die? cannot speak to that but did his death make things safer/ happier for everyone around him esp sam…well yes#omg sam raising little dean in the way . i can make him into a better person#into Good Dean 😭😭😭😭#yeah sam was definitely a helicopter parent 😭😭😭 jared really gets him.. but not the reality of it i think#spn#DJ.. dad what do u do when im at school—wait for u to get back 🥹 .. DJ : right

I'm up to 4x12 Criss Angel is a Douchebag in my spn rewatch.
Ruby: What made you change your mind?" Sam: I don't want to be doing this when I'm an old man."
Sam's powering up so he could stop all the demons and nobody could hurt Dean again was a big motivation in why he let himself get so taken in by Ruby and her demon blood training. But it wasn't the only reason. Sam also wanted out of the life. He wanted to stop the apocalypse, and defeat Lilith, so he could live a life beyond hunting. He didn't, at this point in S4, want to keep doing this hunting life for the rest of his life.
Dean: It ends bloody or sad.
Sam: What if we could win."
While Sam's view of hunting changes over the course of the series, where I think he eventually came to terms with accepting the hunting life, he did want out. Just as Dean also at times expressed his sense of burnout with the misery, the endless killing, the blood, the trauma, the bleakness of the life, he wanted more. And Sam wanted more.
On TW, Mary's a parallel for both brothers and their wanting to get out, hope for an ending that isn't the hunter default of bloody or sad, something beyond hunting.
