the local SPHL team may not be the best team in their league anymore (quite disappointing honestly considering their former record) but they’re giving away special edition jerseys tonight to the first 1,200 people in the door for opening night.
Best believe I’m doing everything I can to get one. My jersey collection needs it.

Dear People who are reading this lol I appreciate your attention...
So, I love goalies, and I try to learn more and more about it, and a few weeks ago I discovered the podcast ''Goalie Hacks Podcast'' and I'd like to know if anyone know the host, Mike Santaguida.
I saw and read about his career (things I found available on Google) and his teachings/knowledge are really very good, I like the way he thinks about himself, his profession and several other aspects. But, since 2022 he simply stopped everything, and I think I'd like to know why... that's why I'm asking about him, I'll put some links here so you can understand:

yk i have not been watching the rookie tournament due to the horrors but getting all my information secondhand thru @whoredeleau, it does strike me very much as similar to the '22 rookie tournament, where i walked out of it convinced this would be the cuda's year. and it absolutely was NOT, but i did proceed to have the most fun i've ever had as a barracuda fan in the 22-23 season. fingers crossed the vibes are changing

The hard part about the wouse hockey au. Is that we wanted to set it in a city that doesn't have an NHL team. So ... we are making it one. And then there are also other major teams that need to happen and be designed. So thats tough

idk if u watch any minor leagues but this past season was SO fucked in the sphl re: reffing. had one guy roughing my teams players after the final bell get off scot free, but one of ours got dismissed in the first period with a game misconduct+major penalty for butt ending. refs were hardcore stacked against us up til/during the playoffs. shit was crazy
I follow some minor league news but not the sphl-- reading this makes me angry on your behalf tho, I'd fucking lose it if I was watching that happen against my team.

Ok i literally just spend this post rambling train of thought
Honestly I'm still annoyed by the Professional Woman's Hockey League as a name. Like the Premier Hockey Federation was gender neutral just like the National Hockey League and American Hockey League and the ECHL and the SPHL and the FPHL and and and it keeps going and some of these leagues have had women play in them and do so successfully, and it wouldn't surprise me if that keeps happening a little bit more frequently than it used to the more seriously people take women and their development when they're young, and someday there's going to be another Harrison Browne or maybe there already is and they just aren't currently interested in being out publicly or don't even know this about themselves yet (idk what's up with CJ & if they consider herself a woman, or maybe they've got that thing going on where her gender is lesbian, maybe she's talked about it publicly and i just haven't seen it but whatever that's their business), and yes it's a women's league the way the other leagues are men's leagues where sometimes there's exceptions but it's majority one thing and women deserve their majority league and a women's league has its value as a league for its own sake and calling it a women's league isn't implying it's inferior or whatever. But also it's another pro league, it's all pro leagues. Idk, if everyone involved wants it to be called the women's pro league then fine, they're the ones playing in it. But i do wonder if everyone does, if everyone always will. I guess there's benefits from advertising in the name that this is a majority women league and not some other minor or independent men's league. How much benefit?
Idk I'm biased bc I'm a trans
(also i didn't mention Jessica Platt because she and any other trans women who would theoretically play in this new league [she's retired i believe but like in a theoretical world where she was still interested and able to play pro, or also other trans women] are women and this is about people who aren't women playing in the women's league or how necessary or beneficial it is to call the league a women's league even if it's all women for the rest of forever. I'm not discounting the general transphobia & specific transmisogyny likely to be faced by trans women who try to play in this league, it's just not what this post is about)
Not that this is particularly coherent i don't think since i don't even really have a conclusion other than i personally preferred the PHF's name and i think there's benefits and drawbacks to the new league's name.
Also Whitecaps forever also Boston can never beat the Pride as a name even though the Wicked does kinda rule in a vacuum
Also i almost hope a team will choose the Vamps but also if any west coast US location were to end up with a women's league team Seattle is high up there, and if Seattle wanted to bring back the Vamps as a name and it was already taken that'd just suck

USA Hockey, the NHL, the AHL, the ECHL, the SPHL, every hockey league: we need to grow the game!!!!
Also all of these people including youth teams: so this is a stay to play tournament and you HAVE to stay at this one hotel that WE picked that’s a solid $75 more expensive a night than other places in the area but it’s what we chose and also it’s for team building!!!! Oh and you have to go ahead and book it in the next two weeks even though the tournament isn’t for almost two months AND you have to book for all three nights even though you may not even play the last day!!!!

Wait how often do you go to games?
not too often! i don’t live close to any NHL teams, so i typically go to 3 NHL games per season! the first game is usually a game with my friends, and then my sister and i go to NJ towards the end of the season and go to 2 games 🤍
i do have an ECHL team kinda close though, so i go to a couple ECHL games per season! and then this season i went to an SPHL game and a college game with kei, as well!

BLOOMINGTON BISON NAME TEAM CAPTAINS
By: Andy Zilch, Bloomington Bison Bloomington, Ill. - Bloomington Bison General Manager and Head Coach Phillip Barski announced today that Eddie Matshushima has been named captain, and Jonny Evans has been named assistant captain.   Matsushima, 30, played the previous three seasons with the Tulsa Oilers, leading the team in goals in the last two seasons. Last season, he skated in two games for the San Diego Gulls, making his AHL debut on March 6 vs. Coachella Valley. “Eddie exemplifies what we expect from this organization and aligns with our values and culture that we are building. We are proud to name him the first captain in franchise history,” General Manager and Head Coach Phillip Barski said. “He has the utmost respect for the game, cohesive attitude towards his teammates, and demands the best from him and others around him. He will not only be a strong leader for our team but be an outstanding member to the community of Bloomington.” The Verona, Wisconsin native has earned 68 goals, 72 assists (140 points), and 133 penalty minutes in 190 career ECHL games with the Oilers, Orlando Solar Bears, Maine Mariners, and Worcester Railers. In 2022-23, he set career highs in points with 47 and games played with 65 while representing the Oilers in the ECHL All-Star Classic. “I am honored to be named the inaugural captain of the Bison,” said Matsushima. “I want to thank Coach Barski and the Hallett family for their belief in me. We have a wonderful group of players, and I look forward to working hard together to achieve our goal of success.” The 5-11, 185-pound forward appeared in 67 career SPHL games with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, collecting 24 goals and 39 assists (63 points) and 53 penalty minutes. In 2020-21, Matsushima helped the Ice Flyers clinch the organization’s fourth President’s Cup Championship. He also earned SPHL Second All-Star Team honors.  Evans, 27, played the previous three seasons with the Stingrays, amassing 34 goals and 54 assists (88 points) in 105 career ECHL games. His 45 points last season ranked fourth on the team. “Since the first conversation I had with Jonny, I found maturity, responsibility and a deep care for what he brings to the rink on a day-to-day basis,” Barski continued. “His voice and ability to lead by example will provide a great culture to our locker room and younger players. I couldn’t be more thrilled to not only have him apart of this franchise but as a leader for our club.” The Delta, British Columbia native played four seasons at the University of Connecticut, totaling 37 goals and 42 assists (79 points) in 106 collegiate games. “I’m grateful to be named to the leadership group of the Bison,” Evans commented. “I understand it is a privilege to wear a letter and the responsibilities it comes with. I am prepared to help our group work as one to become the best athletes and members of the community.” Single game seats are on sale now as the Bison welcome the Toledo Walleye for Opening Weekend on Saturday, October 19, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 20, at 3 p.m. For more ticket information, visit bloomingtonbisonhockey.com, ticketmaster.com, or call (309) 965-HERD to purchase Opening Weekend tickets. Also the SPHL and the FPHL too! The minor league teams are having fun and wearing cool jerseys too!
Here's a friendly reminder that the AHL and ECHL have specialty jerseys and they wear them during games! Please support those teams and their initiatives if they don't change their ways too.

The Nailers have acquired the rights to forward Andrew Fyten and defenseman Chris McKay from the Florida Everblades, which completes the trade that sent forward Sean Josling to Florida. Fyten, 24, joined the Everblades after completing his final season at Mount Royal University, and promptly posted five goals, five assists, and ten points  in his first 21 regular season games as a pro. Andrew also appeared in 12 of Florida's 22 playoff contests to help win the Kelly Cup. That was the Sundre, Alberta native's second career championship, as he also won a WHL Title with the 2017-18 Edmonton Oil Kings. Prior to turning pro, Fyten enjoyed his best season at Mount Royal, as he collected 17 points in 24 games for the Cougars. Andrew's older brother Austin was Wheeling's team captain during the 2020-21 season. McKay, 27, has also won a pair of championships, as he won the Kelly Cup with Florida in 2021-22 and the  SPHL's President's Cup with the Pensacola Ice Flyers in 2020-21. Chris played the 2022-23 campaign as a member of the Wichita Thunder, and finished third on the team in defensive scoring with four goals, 15 assists, and 19 points in 44 games. Prior to turning pro, the Edmonton, Alberta native attended R.I.T., where he played four seasons of college hockey for the Tigers. The Nailers have acquired the rights to defenseman Philip Beaulieu from the Worcester Railers, which completes the trade that sent forward Max  Johnson to Worcester. Beaulieu, 27, just completed his third pro season and first with the Railers, after spending his first two seasons with the Allen Americans. Philip has compiled 13 goals, 65 assists, and 78 points in 141 career ECHL games, and has also appeared in one AHL tilt with the Iowa Wild. 2021-22 was his best campaign, as he led Allen blueliners with 38 points. Prior to turning pro, the Duluth, Minnesota native attended Northern Michigan University, where he led the Wildcats in defensive scoring during three of his four seasons. The Nailers have acquired the rights to forward Sean Gulka from the Maine Mariners, which completes  the trade that sent forward Carter Johnson to Maine, and also saw forward Keltie Jeri-Leon come to Wheeling. Gulka, 23, played the majority of the 2022-23 season with the SPHL's Pensacola Ice Flyers, as he registered five goals, five assists, and ten points in 24 games. He also accumulated 34 penalty minutes, which included three fighting majors, in seven ECHL contests with the South Carolina Stingrays. Prior to turning pro, the Langley, British Columbia native played junior hockey for the WHL's Spokane Chiefs and Victoria Royals. The Nailers have traded the rights to forward Ross Krieger to the Idaho Steelheads, which completes the trade that sent  defenseman Jack Van Boekel to Wheeling. Krieger, 25, started his pro career with the Nailers, as he notched three goals, three assists, and six points in 12 games, including a goal in his pro debut on March 10th at Fort Wayne. The Pain Court, Ontario native joined Wheeling after completing his final season at the University of Toronto, where he amassed 46 points in 67 career games with the Varsity Blues. The Nailers have traded the rights to defenseman Jack Van Boekel to the Savannah Ghost Pirates, which completes the trade that sent defenseman  T.J. Fergus to Wheeling. Van Boekel, 27, finished third on the Nailers with 92 penalty minutes during the 2022-23 season, and he also contributed two goals and five points in 30 games.
