Now, Klompas has come out with a book, “Stand-Up Nation: Israeli Resilience in the Wake of Disaster” (Wicked Son), which is a unique approach to Israel activism. Rather than sharing news about the war, this book highlights Israel’s altruism towards the world.
“Today, Israel is nicknamed the ‘Start-Up Nation,’ and it is celebrated for its booming economy and ingenious innovations,” she wrote in the book. “Less celebrated is the story of how Israel lifted up other nations as it lifted up itself — the story of Israel, a force for good in the world.”
“Today, Israel is nicknamed the ‘Start-Up Nation,’ and it is celebrated for its booming economy and ingenious innovations. Less celebrated is the story of how Israel lifted up other nations as it lifted up itself — the story of Israel, a force for good in the world.”
Tumblr media
Klompas’ book outlines MASHAV’s work, such as when they built the first utility-scale solar field in East Africa, spearheaded clean water initiatives in Israel, Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza and provided meals to starving children in India.
“For a while, Israel became a global leader in supporting newly independent states. Precisely because it was small and poor, Israel had an advantage over larger, richer, and more established countries,” Klompas wrote. “It was a model and source of inspiration for newly emerging nations facing their own array of challenges.”
She saw this with her own eyes. After finishing up at the UN, she founded and led Project Inspire, an initiative to show Israel’s work in social, environmental and economic development in low-income nations. She ran tours in Uganda, Kenya, Guatemala, India and Nepal, showing participants how people in these countries utilize Israel’s teachings and technologies to tackle poverty and inequality.
When Klompas traveled, she saw Israel in “the most unlikely of places,” she wrote. “While trekking in East Africa and walking through a small craft market, I spotted a handmade beaded bracelet with the flag of Israel alongside bracelets with the flags of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. In the remote hills of Nepal, I happened upon a group of children, and as I passed by they yelled to me: ‘Shalom! Namaste! Hello!’ In Uganda, I visited a remote island on Lake Victoria. Getting there required a windy bus ride, followed by a rickety boat ride, followed by another bumpy bus ride. When we finally reached Osanidde Village, an orphanage for children with HIV, we were greeted by teenagers who sang the Ugandan national anthem followed by ‘Hatikva.’”
“Stand-Up Nation” is a callback to what Israel really is, and what a massive impact the small Jewish State has had on the world – a much-needed reminder post-Oct. 7, when it is being bashed everywhere we look. Klompas believes that enough isn’t being done to communicate Israel’s nation-building initiatives.
“I think I’m the first one to write a book about it, if not one of the first,” she said. “I’m not sure that people who have been to Israel dozens of times are even familiar with MASHAV. How many people know this story about Israel as a developing country and founding an international development agency at the same time? It’s an untold story. And the more that I learn about it, the more it shocks me that people don’t know it.”

India’s Jawaharlal Nehru, leader of the Congress Party, arrived in the USSR to celebrate its tenth anniversary. He marvelled at the ability of this ‘peasant society’ to rapidly move from misery to fellowship, from starvation to surfeit. Russia interested Nehru because both India and the USSR were peasant countries with poverty and illiteracy as the barriers to freedom for the people. What he saw in 1927 surprised him, that there was less poverty in the country than he imagined and that the leadership had come from amongst the workers and peasants. Mikhail Kalinin, whom Nehru met, came from a peasant family and was then the head of state of the USSR. Joseph Stalin, the head of government, came from a family of cobblers and housemaids. These were ordinary people, who now ran an extraordinarily large country. Of his visit, Nehru wrote, ‘Russia thus interests us, because it may help us to find some solution for the serious problems which the world faces today. It interests us specially because conditions there have not been, and are not even now, very dissimilar to conditions in India. Both are vast agricultural countries with only the beginning of industrialization, and both have to face poverty and illiteracy. If Russia finds a satisfactory solution for these, our work in India would be made easier.’.
And indeed, Nehru found that the USSR had made great gains against hunger and poverty and towards increasing the power and dignity of the peasantry. From great poverty and deprivation, the USSR quit the Great War, fought off the invasion of the capitalist powers and struggled to build up the industrial and agricultural capacity of the country. Within a decade, the USSR was able to move from extreme backwardness to a situation of economic and social stability. Nehru looked carefully at the statistics on access to medical care, life expectancy, infant mortality and industrial growth. These showed improvement. But these were not conclusive. What interested him, the keen observer, were the signs of a much richer social life for the peasants. ‘They have their newspapers and country fairs and academies and sanatoria; their libraries and reading rooms and women’s clubs. The Society for the Liquidation of Illiteracy and Mutual Aid Societies are to be found everywhere. And so are the youth organizations – the Pioneers and the Komsomols’ – the All-Union Pioneer Organization and the Young Communist League. This richness, this wealth, was the best measure of advance.
Without literacy, Lenin wrote, ‘there can be no politics; without [literacy] there are rumours, gossip, fairy-tales and prejudices’. In 1897 – in the last Tsarist census – less than a third of Russians counted as literate (only 13 per cent of women were literate). In 1917, a third of men were literate and less than a fifth of women. Immense amount of the social surplus in the USSR was turned over to education and health, to the basic needs of the population. By 1926, thanks to the Likbez programmes, half the population could read and write. By 1937, two decades into the Revolution, the literacy levels rose to 86 per cent for men and 65 per cent for women. It was an extraordinary achievement. It needs to be mentioned that the USSR followed the policy of indigenization (korenizatsiya) – promoting regional languages so that people could develop their knowledge and wisdom in their native tongues and not merely in Russian. Such advance took place in a ‘peasant society’. India’s literacy rate at the close of two centuries of British colonial rule stood – in comparison – at 12 per cent.

(same anon as before) you guys are definitely right that seeing graphic war imagery constantly is mentally damaging, even just through a screen. And with Jewish trauma it absolutely makes sense that sharing that imagery is offensive in Israel.
I think, maybe, this is what (partially) fuels people’s hatred towards Israelis. It is definitely not common knowledge outside of Israel that you guys aren’t seeing what many of us are seeing, so when we are bombarded constantly with pictures of children’s mangled bodies, a lot of people think “how can Israelis sit back and watch this happen?!” They don’t realize that you guys aren’t watching this happen. All of the violence and gore and trauma from Gaza we’re being exposed to via the internet is incredibly distressing, but as far as I know pretty much nobody knows that Israelis aren’t seeing the same footage that much of the rest of the world is (I understand why though). I think that misconception might be driving some of the rhetoric of Israelis being cruel people who condone the killing of children, etc.
let me start by the easiest part: many times that footage is joined with unverified information and you wouldn’t believe how many of those are actually from syria. yup. nothing to do with israel. promise. the neighbors are well known for their psychological war (nassrallah spoke about it this in his speeches week, actually 🥴), so israelis aren’t too fast to believe all of those or how authentic the story behind them is.
but back to what you wrote, that’s the thing, it’s not through the screen for israelis, so there’s no need for the screen. i think that what’s hard for the west (and i don’t mean to offend anyone but this is usually the case), mostly americans, to comprehend is this is real life in israel. literally most serve in the IDF or any other national service (ambulance/special unites/police/hospitals/children at risk/prisons/welfare facilities). at the age of 18, israelis become young adults, as they are brutally exposed to life’s tragedies and have the responsibility to assist in taking care of it. it’s just the way it is. israelis don’t go about their senior year dreaming of a fancy college with a prestigious education and some worthwhile parties. they spend it thinking how they can have a meaningful service, that’s literally how it’s called- meaningful. the college stage comes muuuuch later, at the age of ~23-25. after they’ve finished their service and took 1-2 years to chill out and clear their heads from it and travel for really long periods of time (sometimes even over a year). only then they’re ready for university. it’s a whole different mentality. PTSD due to military service is so so common in israel that it’s well known that many don’t really react to that travel stage too well and completely lose it out there and come back mentally destroyed (usually due to drugs that trigger the PTSD they weren’t aware of). it’s been reported of parents that had to fly out to places like india or south america to bring back their children who lost all ability to function on their own.
my point is that, for some reason, israeli and jewish trauma is mocked or overlooked on a daily basis. for some reason it’s common to think the IDF are random AI robots or idk. nope, they’re a very real part from the very small israeli and jewish community/nation. literally most of the people in israel are or were in the IDF.
israelis aren’t heartless to those views, israelis are mostly furious at how those videos are used for, pardon, yeah? mental masturbation. please don’t see this as a direct offense to you, but it sometimes it feels like y’all enjoy watching it almost as much as you enjoy watching a sports game. also keeping up the death toll scores like the scores of the season in football. we feel like a reality show to you and it really is infuriating, because like any other reality show- it’s bias. i truly don’t think you understand how much you make the animosity worse by spreading so much misinformation and demonizing/dehumanizing israelis. it literally fuels everything to an extent far beyond your comprehension.
oh and important thing about horror pics, if im not mistaken there’s a whole thing in judaism about respecting the dead and not exposing its dead body? (having all the jewish surnames in jewish history didn’t help me be a good jew, i’m sorry 😞 )

The "resident doctor" is horrible change, a meaningless Americanism.
If anything, the recent strikes have advertised the broad meaning on "junior doctor" to the masses. A change to "postgraduate doctor" would have been better as it has a British meaning. I've actually read that some are claiming the change is good because Brits know residents from American TV shows?! As if we should be making British medicine MORE American?
Thanks for writing in! It's definitely useful to be able to discuss what people like or dislike about it.
The thing is, "the masses" have always used the term "junior doctor" to denigrate and infantilise staff they see as basically teens. They were doing it when I first went on strike in 2016, and they've been doing it during the past couple of years of strikes - just look at the comments under literally every Daily Mail or Telegraph article about junior doctors. Inevitably people always imagine a lost looking 24 year old house officer/FY1 and never the grizzled middle aged obstetrics registrar with 3 kids of their own.
It tends to go hand in hand with rhetoric about how "we trained you, you can't work abroad/go part time/leave medicine", which is fundamentally rooted in misunderstanding the "we pay X to train a doctor" figures that get touted - the majority of those figures being *doctors' salaries over the course of their foundation, Core and specialist training*. We need people to understand that formerly known as junior doctors are grown adults, and qualified medical professionals who are being paid for their work and are paying thousands of pounds to learn more, as they go along.
And of course, completely not understanding what whilst the government moves a pile of money from the education pot to the NHS pot to, in theory, train med students or postgraduate doctors, very little of that is earmarked or used for actual training - the vast majority of our training us informal and impromptu talking, around actual care. Did I as a med student get tens of thousands of pounds worth of supervision or training? I honestly don't think so. But that's the value the UK government decided my hanging out at the back of a clinic room or operating theatre was worth. The vasy majority of our learning once we enter the clinical years of med school, or postgraduate training, is self directed. Not only that, but I'd argue that poor staffing and toxic work environments at some points if my core medical training actively hampered my learning and progression.
Going back to terminology, I think PD was considered, but Postgraduate doctor would unfortunately include consultants, GPs and SAS doctors as well because we're still postgraduate once we qualify. Ultimately it was put to a vote and "resident" won out over the other options suggested. I voted, but I can't remember what all the other options were.
I think it's hard because our training is longer and has always been subdivided - we've had house officers abd senior house officers and registrars for a long time - and we've loosely rebranded them into FY1 , Core trainees and soecualist registrars. But at alm levels you do pretty different things, are on different rotas and have different levels of responsibility so we can't just call everyone a registrar. Which IMO feels like what a US resident is.
The term "Trainee doctor" has often been used, but IMO that has always looked worse and is often hard to explain that you're not talking about medical students but about paid working professionals who may already have multiple speciality examinations under their belt. I've seen patients confused by this terminology and think it would not have been a better option.
Resident isn't JUST a US term, it is a term used in multiple non-US countries such as Canada, Spain, Australia, Singapore, India and others. And I do think that after decades of series like ER, House MD, Greys Anatomy, etc plenty of people are at least vaguely aware of the term and its implications of "qualified doctor who us not yet a completely qualified specialist". We can have a debate about what it means that US media takes over the world somewhat. But in this instance only, it kind of works in our favour.
I could talk about multiple issues with the US system (nowhere near as knowledgeably as my US medblr friends, so I leave it to them), but the terminology of calling it residency would be extremely low down my list of complaints. I generally believe words matter, a lot. But I don't think that calling trainees residents is going to be what privatises UK healthcare.
Ultimately, whilst it's not my favourite term personally, for me it's a means to an end. I want us to be able to change terminology to make it harder for people to dismiss grown qualified professionals, or to frame us as effectively spoonfed baby students that someone else is paying for, when in fact resident doctors are paying for their own study and carving out their own learning opportunities most of the time.
I'd just as well accept some kind of UK version that wasn't Resident, but I don't think an easy overarching name exists, and I'm not sure if we could reach a consensus on finding one.

My initial is A, he/him.
I am from Mumbai, India
My D.O.B is 01st August 2004
Time of birth : 01:37 pm IST
I would like to know about my future spouse.
Thanks
Hi😊 For your reading I am going to use mostly vedic astrology.
In D1 chart aquarius saturn is transiting your 5th house (dating/hobbies/creativity) aspecting your 7th lord mars in leo 11th house (jupiter + mercury) by 7th aspect indicating that you might meet your future spouse or longterm partner this year, but there could be a certain delay or obstacles when it comes to dating and creativity. You might meet this person online, through friends/groups, social networks. This gives me slow burn/serious romance, friends to lovers or online dating. Actually the delay could potentially be that your partner comes from a different background(wealthier than you or have different values or the need to build stability for example) with mars being 2nd lord or you can become friends online and then later meet in person to have a romantic relationship.
With taurus jupiter transiting 8th house aspecting all these placements above it brings abundance, support and optimism helping you guys meet sooner and overcome obstacles in the relationship , mitigate misunderstandings, share interests/goals and values, communicating openly about your feelings fears/traumas, healing, transformation, etc.
MOON CHART (considering moon as rising)
Taurus jupiter is transiting your taurus 5th house bringing abundance in romance/dating/hobbies/creativity/finances/stability/selfworth.
D9 CHART
In your D9 chart Jupiter in taurus is transiting 12th house saturn aspecting 7th lord scorpio jupiter(10th lord) conjunct sun indicating that your future spouse might be meeting you this year. You might grow and work together in service oriented projects, support each other, overcome obstacles related to work, past traumas, daily routine, physical and mental health, etc.
With aquarius saturn transit in 9th house aspecting leo moon in 3rd house and all these placements above this confirms long distance relationship and possibly meeting through higher education or in a foreign country. Your future spouse might be facing challenges related to higher education, travel, learning, communication, emotions, authority figures, mother, siblings, family. You guys might have communication issues, one of you might not open up or know how to express their feelings. (Delays in developing a relationship)
Pisces/virgo rahu/ketu is transiting your 10th/4th house axis so your future spouse might be focusing on her career, trying to balance his personal life with professional life, could be changing jobs or rethinking about his responsibilities, etc.
DASHA/TIME PERIODS

(You actually went through rahu-venus-mars dasha from 19 november 2023 till 22 january 2024; Have you met someone back then? Mars is your 7th lord and Darakaraka -> spouse ).
Right now you are running rahu-venus-jupiter dasha till 28 november 2024 which is a good chance as well to meet your longterm partner (jupiter ->marriage and is conjunct your mars).
You also have good chances next year 2025 specially during rahu-venus-mercury dasha from 19 may till 22 october, mercury is conjunct your mars; gemini jupiter transit in may will be affecting your gemini venus and saturn activating longterm romantic relationships/marriage; Cancer jupiter transit in october will be influencing 7th house from moon chart👀 (you might also gain a lot of success/recognition in your career cause you sun in cancer 10th house in d1 chart)

Them as dog breeds (maknae line)
Shen Ricky, Kim Gyuvin, Park Gunwook, Han Yujin
Warning: none
Genre: Fluff
Author's note: Here's the second part, I hope I am being accurate enough tho.
Anyways, I hope you guys like it and sorry for the long wait :D
Hyung line
°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□°□
What kind of dog breeds would they resemble according to their traits and vibes?
Ricky (Pyrenean mastiff)
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pyrenean mastiffs are a spanish breed that are used by farmers to guide the herd, so they're quite big dogs (he's also freaking tall so it makes sense)
Although their size is intimidating and gives them a cold appearance they're docile and good natured, really noble, meek and intelligent.
With people they know they are caring and protective when they need to, but without being too clingy or sickly sweet. With people they don't know they seem indifferent but not aggressive (which I think it's oddly accurate for a reason?)
They are also really self-confident and they're also well aware of their own strenght when getting involved in any type of conflict with other dogs. They know their own value and what they are good at (definitely him 💀)
With unknown people they can also come as brave and fierce, specially when protecting someone,so whenever someone else flirts with you or stares he would use his intimidating privilege to scare them off (he a little bit jealous I think 😀)
The most supported theory about their origin is that the fenicians introduced the mastiff breed brought from Syria and India.
For centuries this dog has been used to protect herds from the Pyrenees located on Aragon and Navarre (I'm from here hehe)
They are perfect guardian dogs and if educated correctly they can also save people, they need to be educated because they are quite stubborn dogs and they don't attend to orders immediately
"Those guys are being a bother, let me show them who's boss 😈"
Gyuvin (Alaskan Malamute)
☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alaskan malamutes are in general quite calmed and docile if they are educated well, if not they can become quite destructive and chaotic (which literally fits perfectly with guuvin lol)
They're also a little bit clueless but in general quite obedient and intelligent.
Specially domestic ones are a little bit dramatic and over the top (tik tok do be showing them like that haha)
It's an active and agile breed due to their size and their background (cold zones) but they are indeed really sweet and caring.
They tend to get bored easily and therefore explore the house, turning them into curious dogs that could cause some trouble due to their size 😬
Unlike huskys they are not independent and need constant company and affection, therefore they are also really protective, specially for kids (yeah him treating yujin like a baby is the only evidence I need)
They are too friendly so that makes them terrible guard dogs, they might become friends with the intruder 💀
If you thought that he was playful and clingy wait till you see him with his s/o, gyuvin can't be be separated from your side and he acts really goofy, like a little kid looking for attention
They were created by an Inuit tribe called the mahlemiuts in Alaska to help pulling sleds and to help hunting in extreme climatological weather (cold).
"Y/nnie don't leave me alone!!!! If you come back and there's something broken I will not be responsible for it 😡"
Gunwook (Samoyed)
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The samoyed breed comes originally from Russia and Siberia, so one could think that their temper is cold and not close when in reality they are affective, sensitive and playful (the sensitive part is totally gunwook because on the show he cried a lot and he was really a good team mate 😌)
It is known for being an elegant, dominant and social dog that loves human company and although they are in alert a lot of times they don't posses a strong hunter instinct(I find this funny because I do see him like this, except when they played pranks on him and he fell for all of them 🤡)
They are gentle and pleasant dogs to be around, really intelligent with a bit of independence. When left alone for long periods of time their bark can be quite annoying, but that's just part of their alerting nature (totally agreeing with the intelligent part honestly and the rest as well)
Activity is essential in their lifestyle so they need daily exercise (gunwook is still young so he needs to stay active as well so yeah that kinda fits)
Also they have this thing called the 'sammie smile' that is literally the equivalent for gummy smile but for dogs and is literally the cutest thing ever (gunwook's gummy smile is adorable so it really fits him perfectly here 🥺)
They are really happy when they are assigned with tasks to do, so when gunwook met his s/o he always tried to find a way to be helpful. And if you ask him to do something he'd do it instantly :))
The samoyed are a really ancient breed used by Siberian tribes to pull sleds and guide reindeers. They came to England on the 19th century sometimes as presents from the czar of Russia.
"You called y/nnie? Do you want me to get you something?😊"
Yujin (Shiba Inu)
☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆~☆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shiba inus are generally timid and quiet dogs that are perfect guardian dogs due to their secretive nature, they watch over the house and notify of any possible danger.
They are intelligent, docile and completely reliable dogs, strong and bold (have you seen him, he's fucking strong for his age wtf?)
Their loyalty is also admirable (like have you seen the movie Hachiko? I know he is an Akita Inu but they are really similar, the only difference is that Shiba inus are smaller). However, they don't trust easily strangers, resulting on them protecting their own things quite strongly.
Also they are really stubborn so it is crucial to educate them well from a young age (him and gyuvin being playful with each other only proves more my theory hehe)
They are attentive, active and friendly dogs as well that tend to be more on the independent side (I know he's technically an extrovert but he's more on the calmer side so I do see him like that, but without leaving aside his friendships obviously)
When he met his potential s/o he really stuck with you, but not like glue because he's not that clingy. But he makes sure to be by your side when you need it and he really cares for them.
It is one of Japan's most ancient breeds used to hunt on mountains that dates back to the 3rd century b.c
They were about to disappear on the Second World War :((
His name divides in two: "Shiba" meaning small bushes and "inu" meaning dog, which kinda makes sense because they were used for hunting small animals that hided on bushes.
"Shouid we go to that cafe that opened recently? You really should take a break from studying🙁"

"Poker always works"
by Christian Von Hocke, originally written 24 July 2009 for Zeit Online (x)
Formula 1 pro Nico Rosberg talks in an interview about his life as a globetrotter, exotic food and his preferences for other sports.
Question: Mr. Rosberg, like right now in Budapest, you're on the road all year round with Formula 1 around the world. Don't you sometimes get homesick?
Nico Rosberg: I've had nine hotels in four weeks, which is exhausting. But homesick? No. I really enjoy traveling, it's very educational and very interesting. That's what I would also do in my free time: get to know new countries, discover new people, the way they live.
Question: So you've turned a hobby into a profession right alongside driving.
Rosberg: Yes, there are many places in the world that I would like to see and that excite me. I'm also planning a big trip during the winter break. I'm interested in India, for example, with its spirituality, or South America, Patagonia, a safari in South Africa. Even just hiking. That's not something I would normally do, but it's good for the body's regeneration. There's so much I can do, I'm just afraid that I'll take on too much and it will end up being too stressful.
Question: Michael Schumacher has regretted that he never saw anything of the Grand Prix venues apart from the airport and the track. Do you also explore the cities where you race?
Rosberg: Yes, especially at the overseas races. I have a bit more time there because we always arrive a bit earlier due to the time change. But even so, there's always the Saturday evening before or the Monday after the race. We have great races in interesting cities like Melbourne or Singapore or Shanghai.
Question: And what do you do there?
Rosberg: I go into town. I have a nice meal in a restaurant or go out for a drink or shopping in the evening, or I go to the beach and go surfing. Or I look at the special features of the city. I'm also very interested in photography and always have my big camera with me.
Question: But traveling can also be quite stressful. Can you sleep on the plane?
Rosberg: No, very badly. I have to lie horizontally and need rest so that I can concentrate on falling asleep, otherwise it doesn't work. For that reason alone, I have to fly business class. That's not a problem in Europe, where I always have my camper van to take me to the tracks.
Question: There are 17 Formula 1 races in 2009 alone. Have you ever woken up and not known which city you were in?
Rosberg: Not that, but I was once at the airport at check-in, and the woman asked me: Where are you flying to? And I didn't know. I'd been to four or five different countries that week, I was tired and unfocused, and I just couldn't think of it. She looked at me like I was stupid (laughs).
Question: Do you sometimes wish you had an office job from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where you could throw your coat over the hook and stretch your legs in front of the TV when you're done working?
Rosberg: No. Whether it's a nine-to-five job or a Formula 1 racing driver isn't that important. I don't know if it would make anyone else happier if they led my life. My friends all have nine-to-five jobs, and they're no less happy than I am. It's always what you make of it that matters.
Question: But you also need a bit of home, don't you? Many people always have their music player with them to simulate a feeling of home wherever they go.
Rosberg: I'm not a music fan. I got an iPod as a gift, but I haven't really used it yet. For me, it's the cell phone. It connects me with friends and family. That's cool, I can also use it to go on the Internet. When I don't have it with me, I feel very naked. Like today, I don't even know what's going on anymore.
Question: Anyone who travels so much must have acquaintances all over the world.
Rosberg: That's true - wherever I go in the world, there are my best friends. I know them either through racing or from the past. I grew up in Monaco, and nobody stays there. Today, my old friends are everywhere, in Australia, China, America or South Africa. I can call them up and ask if we want to have a drink.
Question: Can you maintain hobbies while traveling?
Rosberg: I like to play football, but I rarely do that when I'm traveling. Poker is always on. I'm not very proud of it, actually it's nonsense to sit in front of a computer and play poker. But it's fun. Otherwise: eating. Does that count? I already see it as a hobby, I love to eat for my life, delicacies, creative, new things, especially country-related. I was in Marrakech with my girlfriend the other day, they have gigantic food there.
Question: In your travels, do you notice how places in the world change from year to year, and not just in terms of cuisine?
Rosberg: Yes. My parents have a country house in Aix-en-Provence. At first it was quite isolated, but now it's become a huge settlement with an industrial area.
Question: Let's be honest: What is your least favorite place in the world?
Rosberg: Kuala Lumpur. We're always just sitting around at the airport there (laughs).

Eye on Making Investments a Reality: Rajasthan Government’s Strategic Move to Attract Investors
Tumblr media
Rajasthan: A Growing Economic Powerhouse
Rajasthan, India’s largest state by area, is home to a diverse economic landscape that ranges from agriculture and mining to tourism and industrial growth. Historically, the state has seen substantial contributions from sectors such as mineral resources, textiles, and craftsmanship. However, with the changing times, the state government has recognized the need to diversify and expand the economy by inviting more modern, high-impact industries, especially in technology, manufacturing, and renewable energy.
Government Initiatives to Attract Investments
The Rajasthan government has been taking a series of proactive measures to make the state a hub for both domestic and foreign investments. These initiatives include:
Investor-Friendly Policies: The government has launched a variety of tax incentives, subsidies, and reduced bureaucratic hurdles to create a more streamlined investment environment. This helps both new startups and established multinational companies to enter the market with ease.
Infrastructure Development: The state has significantly boosted its infrastructure, building robust transportation networks, logistics hubs, and industrial zones in key regions such as Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur. This development ensures that businesses have access to world-class facilities that facilitate smooth operations.
Dedicated Investment Promotion Units: The Rajasthan government has set up specialized bodies, such as the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), to act as a one-stop solution for investors. These units help streamline processes related to land acquisition, approvals, and permits.
Focus on Renewable Energy: Rajasthan’s commitment to sustainable energy is also notable. With vast open spaces and favorable climatic conditions, the state has become a leader in solar power generation in India. This attracts investors focused on clean energy solutions.
Col Rajyavarshan Rahtore: A Visionary Leader in the Investment Drive
One of the key figures behind Rajasthan’s investment drive is Col Rajyavarshan Rahtore, whose leadership and strategic insights have helped shape the state’s future. With a background in the Indian Army, Col Rahtore brings a unique perspective to governance and economic development, combining disciplined military strategies with innovative policy-making.
A Strong Advocate for Investor Relations
Col Rahtore is known for his strong advocacy of cultivating good relations with both domestic and international investors. He believes that fostering long-term partnerships with the private sector is crucial to ensuring the state’s economic prosperity. Under his leadership, the government has worked to build trust and create a stable investment climate that encourages both large-scale and small-scale investors.
Collaborative Approach to Investment Promotion
Col Rajyavarshan Rahtore understands that attracting investments goes beyond policy implementation. He has emphasized the need for collaboration between local entrepreneurs, large corporates, and foreign investors. By establishing public-private partnerships, he has played a pivotal role in creating a more inclusive environment for various industries, such as technology, healthcare, education, and manufacturing.
Focus on Sector-Specific Growth
While Col Rahtore’s initiatives have been broad-reaching, he has also directed special attention to specific sectors with the highest potential for growth. These include:
Tourism and Hospitality: Rajasthan has long been a popular tourist destination, known for its palaces, forts, and cultural heritage. Under Col Rahtore’s leadership, the state has focused on developing world-class infrastructure for tourism and hospitality. This includes the construction of modern hotels, resorts, and convention centers that cater to international visitors.
Renewable Energy: With a sharp focus on sustainability, Col Rahtore has played a central role in Rajasthan becoming a leading state in India for solar power generation. The government’s efforts to build large solar parks, such as the Bhadla Solar Park, have attracted significant investment from global renewable energy firms.
Industrial Growth: The government’s push to develop industrial corridors in Rajasthan has opened doors for a range of industries. Special emphasis has been given to attracting automobile manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and defense industries to set up shop in the state.
Rajasthan’s Investment Ecosystem: Key Strengths and Opportunities
As the Rajasthan government accelerates its investment initiatives, several aspects of the state’s economic ecosystem make it an attractive proposition for investors. These factors are contributing to the state’s growing reputation as an investment hub.
Strategic Location and Connectivity
Rajasthan’s geographical location in India is one of its key advantages. The state is well-connected to other major Indian markets, as well as global trade routes. With excellent rail, road, and air connectivity, businesses can easily transport goods both within India and abroad. The government has also made substantial investments in improving infrastructure at ports, airports, and highways.
Skilled Workforce and Educational Institutions
Rajasthan is home to several leading educational institutions that produce a highly skilled workforce. These include prestigious engineering colleges, business schools, and medical universities. The state is positioning itself as a key player in producing the next generation of workers in industries likeIT, biotechnology, and manufacturing.
Large Consumer Market
With a population of over 80 million people, Rajasthan offers access to a vast and growing consumer market. As incomes rise, there is increasing demand for goods and services in sectors such as consumer electronics, food processing, and healthcare. This provides significant growth potential for companies looking to expand their reach in India.
Conclusion: Rajasthan — A State to Watch for Future Investments
Rajasthan’s strategic initiatives and the leadership of Col Rajyavarshan Rahtore have set the stage for a future where the state becomes one of India’s top destinations for investment. With its investor-friendly policies, focus on infrastructure development, and an eye on key sectors such as renewable energy, tourism, and manufacturing, Rajasthan is well on its way to becoming a beacon of economic growth.
The efforts being made to streamline processes and build strong relationships with investors are already bearing fruit. With more and more companies looking to invest in the state, Rajasthan is poised to realize its potential as a significant economic powerhouse in India’s growth story. As Col Rajyavarshan Rahtore continues to guide the state forward, there is no doubt that Rajasthan will remain a key player in shaping the country’s economic future.
