COMPARING SCENES FROM THE SAME DIRECTOR PRASHANTH NEEL WITH ROCKY X REENA IN KGF CHAPTER 2 VS DEVA X VARADHA IN SALAAR PART 1 CEASEFIRE
1. No way rocky and Varadha having the same confused but intrigued expression on their faces while Deva and Reena dragged them on their hands and set to bring them wherever they want to go as this strong headed character that their lover will follow anywhere they take them. Helppp
2. Varadha and Reena having the same wonder in their eyes as their lovers put the sacred jewelry on them and couldn't believe that this person in front of them could love them this much!
3. The way Reena and Varadha both jumping in their lovers' arms like a little kid argghhhhh the way Rocky and Deva trying to brace the impact and managed to keep themselves steady and protectively secured their clingy lovers in their strong arms immediately like??
4. Varadha and Rocky laying their heads on their respective lovers' lap help me as their loved ones pat them soothingly on their chests and run their fingers through their hairs !!
5. Possessively put your hand across your lover's body for what? Not once varadha did this in the entire movie, he just acted like Deva’s boyfriend most of the freaking time!
I see what you did there Prashanth neel, clear as a day 😭 I mean knowing his vision and how he directed certain action to show a progress in a romantic relationship in his previous movie then putting the same mindset while directing varadeva with similar shoot and point of view I think it should be an easy math to conclude what he actually meant by those scenes huh
THERE ARE MORE ON THE REBLOG BECAUSE PRASHANTH NEEL IS INSANE FOR THIS

Will never get tired looking at this hug, the way Varadha was taking a big stride towards deva almost running into his arms and throwing himself in his embrace with such force that their bodies (and Varadha's whole jewelry) shook from the impact while Deva readily caught him in his arms (if Varadha was a girl I am sure we would even have a scene where Deva lifted him off his feet and spun him around).
Deva pulling Varadha closer hugging him impossibly tighter his expression was clear like he was determined and already made up his mind at that point that nothing can separate them anymore. Just look at that possessive hold he has on Varadha's body, the way his fingers dig on his back pressing so closely or that grip on his waist, the veins popping up on his forehead the tight closed lips, Deva really was feeling angry at their situation like enough is enough of waiting, I have endured enough and there’s no more day without you by my side, he will never let Varadha go ever again that’s why he was so ready to go with Varadha even before Varadha even uttered a single word to ask him to come with him to Khansaar.
And Varadha, Varadha hold Deva like he had missed him so much he can barely stand it, he looks so young and fragile in Deva's safe embrace as he clung to Deva’s shoulders and tugged his head at the juncture of his neck and swayed in Deva’s arms like there's nothing he want to do in his life except to be held by Deva's strong hands (because there are actually no bigger, longer hands who could hold Varadha’s thicccc body whole fully and make it look like he was just holding small baby like that)
(If I stared at these gifs much longer it almost look like Varadha's body was shaking in Deva's embrace like he was crying in his arms and Deva tried to console him by hugging him tighter "it's okay baby, it's all fine, I am here now.")
Deva didn't even want their hug to end, he want to keep Varadha in his arms longer (possessively want to merge him into his own body keeping him safe in his heart so Varadha couldn’t go anywhere anymore), Varadha literally had to pull their bodies apart with his own hands because Deva wouldn't mind at all to stand there just like that for the rest of eternity, but Varadha, he wanted to see Deva's face up close, to see how much he has changed when he wasn’t around all these years, to just take a moment and marvel at the fact that he finally could touch the man that's been occupying his mind, heart and soul all these years.
Deva didn't even want to break eye contact, he kept on staring at Varadha like he's afraid he might disappear again right in front of his eyes if he did so much as blinking.
Varadha's soft gaze almost shyly looking at Deva from under his eyelashes starting from the top of his head then slowly lowering his gaze to observe all of Deva, to take in all of his image in his memory so he will never forget about him, his lips quiver almost like he wanted to say Deva's name over and over again to make sure that this moment is real that Deva is real because he has been chanting his name his whole life like a prayer hoping he would manifest right in front of him when he’s scared and lonely and hopeless and now finally his Deva is truly here with him in flesh and blood.
This hug is really one for the reunion of all time and I love how Prashanth build the mood for this hug, even after they have done hugging they still linger with each other like neither want to rush the moment especially with the way Varadha still holding on Deva's arm even after they realized that Amma was in the room with them, he released his hold on Deva by slowly caressing his arm as he let go.
Usually this kind of hug it would just be like two bros hugging and nothing intimate in the way it was frame from the camera angle but this hug was intentional from the background of the big fan to build up the romantic atmosphere and the whole focus point for us to see how good they look when they stood together and how the symbolism of Varadha’s presence eclipses Deva’s…like they were each other’s moon and sun (Deva is clearly the sun because he’s scorching hot like angry unstoppable flame and Varadha is his moon that can calm his rage, Varadha operates this silent but deadly strength that could wreck havoc with the tidal wave of the ocean and drown anyone in his path). Please someone draw deva ☀️ and varadha 🌕 as moon and sun.
Even though I was hoping that it was a longer hug but this was more than enough of what I usually get, so yeah this hug is like my top three of best reunion hug of all time. 👏👏👏💯💯💯👑👑👑

South Indian cinema: Part 1
I think we (I) don't talk enough about my obsession with the South Indian film industry. I'm less of a star or fame powered fangirl and most of my obsessions start from very niche observations and qualities. Both me and my mom are good cinema enthusiasts, that being said, we love not just watching movies but also analyze them and talk about them in great lengths and detail; and it isn't always just about the actors but also the scenes, the cinematography, the dialogues and so on. We enjoy a good story based cinema that's more about carrying the characters in place and action than about how much hype a movie gets. I enjoy old movies, including monochrome movies of the yesteryears and the faded coloured classics of the 70's and 80's.
Let me go from one obsession to other. First, comes my unexplainable obsession with actors who are also trained dancers. That's a sexy characteristic because it adds an edge to the actor's identity over being just a movie star and IMHO, it also refines the depth of character and acting skills (many talented actors who aren't dancers do exist, this is just my view). I have this captivation with dancers because something in them, be it the unseeable depth of efforts and practice and hurdles they cross before they set foot on the stage or be it the inordinate amount of beauty they express and portray in both costumes and jewelry or be it the grace with which they carry themselves or be it the way the fluidity, fragility and fierceness of dance entwines with their soul and body making it indistinguishable, obvious and redefines their identity and adds meaning to their character for the better. Irrespective of gender, classical dance forms in my opinion, have a profound effect on the individual and somehow makes them all the more charming to me because it's art that flows in their body and art has that unique fragrance to which you can never turn a blind eye to. It also anchors you down to your inner zen because gender conforms and norms are all broken (atleast in Indian classical dances) as both male and female dancers play either roles in dances and it's all the more about expression and emotion than the role per se. And that I think is a very liberating thing and I love Indian classical dances for it.
So here goes the list: Kamal Haasan is a trained Bharatanatyam and Kathak dancer; the best of which is seen in his performance in the movie Sagara Sangamam which is a majorly dance based movie. My most favorite scene is when he humbles Sailaja when she opposes his critique. Padmini, one of the famous Travancore sisters, was a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and in her retired days also opened a dance school and taught abroad. Shobana, one of my favorite actresses, who is also the niece of the Travancore sisters is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer; she also received a national award for her performance in the Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu which was the original for the famous Chandramukhi, Bhool Bhulaiya, Nagavalli, Aatmamitra etc. I rate her acting top notch because her expressions and her eyes often speak way more than the dialogues. Revathi, is again a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and has delivered multiple box office hits and is also one of my favorite actresses. Bhanupriya, who's pretty famous in tamil and telugu cinema, is a trained Kuchipudi dancer and appeared in the film Sitaara which went on to win the National award for that year. Jayalalitha, apart from her successful political career was a leading film actress in the tamil industry. She was trained dancer of multiple forms like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Kathak etc. Sukanya, who famously starred against Kamal Haasan in Indian, is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. Prabhu Deva, who we all know as the Michael Jackson of India, is a trained Bharatanatyam and Udupi dancer. Amala Akkineni, is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and also has a degree bachelor degree for the same from Kalakshetra. Vineeth, who works mostly in tamil, telugu and malayalam films is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer; lesser known but he's Shobana's cousin and Padmini's nephew from her husband's side. Asin, who is well known for her role in Ghajini, is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. Jayam Ravi, now well known as the Ponniyin Selvan after the famous novel adaptation, is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.
This is in my list (can't think more, brain fried) do feel free to add more. Tagging @sister-of-satan @voidsteffy and @bipdf because I think y'all will enjoy reading this
