Please Help A Homeless Transgender Woman Afford to Replace Her Backpack and Buy a Solar Charger
October 26th 2024
Hey y'all, it's thistle again! I want to thank you all for helping me with my phone and helping me be able to afford living while I've been on the streets. I don't know what I'd do without your help.
Recently my backpack that I carry everything I own in has broken on both it's straps. I'm making it work by binding the straps together and using it as a side bag but it's hurting my neck and back as it's not meant to be used that way.
I also have nowhere to charge my phone since most of the public places have no public outlets or don't let me charge long enough for more that 5%.
I need $50 to help me buy a decent new hiking pack to hold all of my belongings comfortably and $70 for a portable solar set up capable of charging a phone and my other electronics (light, headphones, battery pack).
This would also allow me to help some of the other homeless people I know charge their electronics, which they're in dire need of.
Please help me raise $120 to make living on the street that much more comfortable and less exhausting. I can't communicate just how much this would improve my life.
Cash app: $ThistleDD
Venmo: @ThistleDD
Thank you for your help during this rough time in my life. I appreciate everything you've all done for me.
Also, if you can't give money, reblogging and sharing helps so much!
Thanks!

Ok so you're looking at the aftermath of Helene and you're thinking "shit, how would I keep my phone charged? What about my neighbors?" and you have some outdoor space and some cash. Your friendly formerly off grid sheep farmer is here to help.
You need this set up right here:
To that you will need to add:
Y connectors:
The 100aH (amp Hour) deep cycle battery of your choice - lead acid AGM will be cheaper, lithium (LiFePo) is more expensive but lasts much longer.
Finally, you need a small pure sine wave inverter like this one: https://a.co/d/70vRd79
Plug the panels into the Y connectors then into the single wire to run to the charge controller. They are now connected in parallel. Take them outside to a sunny spot and face them south and prop them up at about a 45 degree angle. This isn't perfect but it will be good enough.
Connect your battery and charge controller. Connect the panels to the charge controller. All of the places to do this are labeled and all you need is a Phillips screwdriver. I recommend doing it once in a non-disaster situation so you know you can do it but you'll be fine. Boom, you are getting electricity from the sun!
The inverter draws power even when it's not running so don't leave it hooked up when you're not using it. When someone needs to charge their phone, put those alligator clips on the matching color battery posts, turn the inverter on, and plug in the phone/radio. VoilĂ ! A single 100aH battery is not going to run a bunch of things but it will help keep cell phones charged without using up the gas in your car.
The panels are weatherproof but everything else needs to be protected by the way so you'll need to set this up in a shed or garage or in the house. Lead acid batteries can produce hydrogen gas when being charged but just having one isn't a big risk.
FAQ:
Yes, you can permanently mount the panels to your roof if you own your home etc. They're designed for that!
It is true that places sell "solar generators" - those are a charge controller, battery, and an inverter in one box at a very high price point. When a component goes bad you will be unable to replace the component and must replace the entire $1000 box. They are also not upgradeable or expandable, this is.
You do not have to buy Renogy, I recommend them because they kept me in electricity for the years I was off grid.
You do not have to buy the kit, you can buy the components of it as and when you can afford them!
Remember to keep your battery on a trickle charger.

African poverty is partly a consequence of energy poverty. In every other continent the vast majority of people have access to electricity. In Africa 600m people, 43% of the total, cannot readily light their homes or charge their phones. And those who nominally have grid electricity find it as reliable as a Scottish summer. More than three-quarters of African firms experience outages; two-fifths say electricity is the main constraint on their business.
If other sub-Saharan African countries had enjoyed power as reliable as South Africaâs from 1995 to 2007, then the continentâs rate of real GDP growth per person would have been two percentage points higher, more than doubling the actual rate, according to one academic paper. Since then South Africa has also had erratic electricity. So-called âload-sheddingâ is probably the main reason why the economy has shrunk in four of the past eight quarters.
Solar power is increasingly seen as the solution. Last year Africa installed a record amount of photovoltaic (PV) capacity (though this still made up just 1% of the total added worldwide), notes the African Solar Industry Association (AFSIA), a trade group. Globally most solar PV is built by utilities, but in Africa 65% of new capacity over the past two years has come from large firms contracting directly with developers. These deals are part of a decentralised revolution that could be of huge benefit to African economies.
Ground zero for the revolution is South Africa. Last year saw a record number of blackouts imposed by Eskom, the state-run utility, whose dysfunctional coal-fired power stations regularly break down or operate at far below capacity. Fortunately, as load-shedding was peaking, the costs of solar systems were plummeting.
Between 2019 and 2023 the cost of panels fell by 15%, having already declined by almost 90% in the 2010s. Meanwhile battery storage systems now cost about half as much as five years ago. Industrial users pay 20-40% less per unit when buying electricity from private project developers than on the cheapest Eskom tariff.
In the past two calendar years the amount of solar capacity in South Africa rose from 2.8GW to 7.8GW, notes AFSIA, excluding that installed on the roofs of suburban homes. All together South Africaâs solar capacity could now be almost a fifth of that of Eskomâs coal-fired power stations (albeit those still have a higher âcapacity factorâ, or ability to produce electricity around the clock). The growth of solar is a key reason why there has been less load-shedding in 2024...
Over the past decade the number of startups providing âdistributed renewable energyâ (DRE) has grown at a clip. Industry estimates suggest that more than 400m Africans get electricity from solar home systems and that more than ten times as many âmini-gridsâ, most of which use solar, were built in 2016-20 than in the preceding five years. In Kenya DRE firms employ more than six times as many people as the largest utility. In Nigeria they have created almost as many jobs as the oil and gas industry.
âThe future is an extremely distributed system to an extent that people havenât fully grasped,â argues Matthew Tilleard of CrossBoundary Group, a firm whose customers range from large businesses to hitherto unconnected consumers. âItâs going to happen here in Africa first and most consequentially.â
Ignite, which operates in nine African countries, has products that include a basic panel that powers three light bulbs and a phone charger, as well as solar-powered irrigation pumps, stoves and internet routers, and industrial systems. Customers use mobile money to âunlockâ a pay-as-you-go meter.
Yariv Cohen, Igniteâs CEO, reckons that the typical $3 per month spent by consumers is less than what they previously paid for kerosene and at phone-charging kiosks. He describes how farmers are more productive because they do not have to get home before dark and children are getting better test scores because they study under bulbs. One family in Rwanda used to keep their two cows in their house because they feared rustlers might come in the dark; now the cattle snooze al fresco under an outside lamp and the family gets more sleep.
...That is one eye-catching aspect of Africaâs solar revolution. But most of the continent is undergoing a more subtleâand significantâexperiment in decentralised, commercially driven solar power. It is a trend that could both transform African economies and offer lessons to the rest of the world."

When you first told your family and friends about your plans to brave the wilderness of Central Australia during a solo backpacking trip, they were quick to insist you didn't partake in such a daring feat. They called you insane, pleaded with you to reconsider but you had been determined to prove you could do it, taking months of survival and wilderness courses in preparation.
After several months of courses, collecting the appropriate gear, you were certain you were ready for your trip through the Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park. The flight from Brisbane to Alice Springs took just over 3 hours where you took a bus to the telegraph station where the Larapinta Trail Head was located. You had everything you needed; water, camping gear, food, and a satellite phone with a solar charger.
Everything had been carefully planned out, permits obtained, and you were ready to start your trip.
Or so you thought.
The first section of the trail took you from the telegraph station to the first campground at Simpsons Gap. The trail was just under twenty five kilometers and took roughly nine hours to complete. The trail had been mostly deserted despite being quite popular in the area. The next day, you visited the gap, snapping a few pictures before packing up and heading to the next spot.
This stretch was longer, at just over 26 kilometers, and it actually took less time at eight and a half hours. You stayed in the campground at Jay Creek with another camper which was an older couple who shared their dinner with you. That night you slept better than the first and when you awoke in the morning, you were the first to head out.
The next few days went by without incident and you were finally about to start the last section of the first half of the trail. The next section would take you from Hugh Gorge to Ellery Creek. At a distance of nearly twenty-nine kilometers, it would take between ten and eleven hours to complete. After spending the night near Hugh Gorge and replenishing your stores, you headed on your way.Â
Your first stop was Hugh View before continuing on. Your plan was to stop at the next campground, Rocky Gully, where you would camp for the night. The hike from Hugh Gorge campsite to Rocky Gully only took a few hours which left you some time to explore the surrounding area.
You set up your camp at the abandoned campsite, taking a small bag to go on your small trip to explore the nearby area, following the trails around the campsite and following them east and south. You snapped pictures, hiking through the brush and taking in the sights.
After following the paths you came to a horrific realization.
You were lost.
You dug through your back but couldnât find a compass and immediately started cursing yourself. You tried backtracking but somehow got even more lost. As you scanned the area, you started to look around for any potential water sources. Each step took you further and further away from camp.
Your water container had started to run empty and the sun was almost at its highest point in the sky. You needed water and you needed it soon.Â
As you walked further, you climbed over the crest of a small hill and felt relief flood your body as you spotted a glimmer in the near distance. It was a small natural channel with water at the base. Upon moving closer, you could tell the water was a decent depth, maybe about to your waist.
The water was dark but when you dipped your hand under the surface, you could see it was surprisingly clear. To be safe, you would use a purification tablet. Opening the top of your canteen, you dipped it just under the surface, allowing water to flow in and showing you that there was a slow moving current as you filled your receptacle.
âThank God,â you whispered as you stood up straight and pulled your bag forward to dig out one of the purification tablets and drop it into the canteen. As you started to turn away, you heard a soft splash and turned to look behind you. Scanning the water, you saw nothing. âProbably my imagination,â you murmured, bringing the lid of your canteen up to screw it on.
As you moved to step forward there was another, much larger, splash and you felt a presence arise from the water behind you. A loud roar startled you and you were too shocked to move. Your flight or fight response didnât kick in, instead you froze.
âWh-what the hell?!â you yelled as you felt something grab your ankle, pulling back and forcing you to fall to the ground. It had a firm grip on you and pulled again, dragging you back towards the water and away from your pack. You clawed at the red dirt, desperately trying to find something to grab onto but came up empty.
Your canteen lay forgotten, water spilling out of it and soaking the ground under it as you were pulled down into the ditch. You screamed, kicking at whatever had a hold of you, fearing the worst. Water enveloped your lower half and had you not been fighting for your life, it might have felt nice in the hot Australian sun.
Finally you managed to turn yourself over and your eyes widened in shock. A massive creature, the size of water buffalo but it was not a water buffalo. It had an almost panther-like appearance but something about it was vaguely seal-like. It had sleek black fur, black eyes with bright green irises.
It opened its mouth, displaying its teeth, all of them looked like they could tear you to shreds. You let out a scream, bringing your arms up to shield your head. Though, with an animal this large, there was no way it couldnât just bite you in half. You chanced a glance through your arms at the creature.Â
It hovered over you, its hot breath fanning over you with each pant as it stared you down. You let out whimper, shielding your face once more as you silently begged for it to not kill you. You heard the creature shift away, the heat of its breath disappearing. You waited for a few moments, only uncovering your head when you heard a splash in the water.
The creature was gone.
You sat up and looked around, expecting to see it lying in wait to ambush you but saw nothing. Looking down you saw that you were half submerged in the water and sighed in frustration as you attempted to stand up but you felt a hand close around your ankle again, yanking you back down into a sitting position. You let out a yelp, water splashing around you.
Seconds later, a head appeared, emerging from the water. Topped with short bluish green hair with waves and curls and a pair of striking green eyes that looked back at you. Your heart hammered wildly in your chest as you watched the head rise further, revealing the face of a handsome man. As he lifted his head from the water, he tilted it to one side, almost as if he was curious by the sight of you.
His shoulders followed, the water stopping about midway down his chest. His bare chest. You tried not to stare but it was evident that he was not wearing clothes but you didnât want to think about that. âWhat theâŚâ you trailed off as you looked at him. A smile graced his face. You half expected to see pointed teeth but instead were met with surprisingly human teeth.
âWhat are you?â you asked softly. The man tilted his head in the opposite direction. Paired with the smile it was slightly unsettling but he dropped the smile, a look of confusion passing over his features. He seemed to be mimicking your expression as your brows rose, so did his. âWh-what are you?â you asked again, a little louder. He straightened up, moving through the water towards you, climbing up the slope. As more of his skin was exposed, it seemed that the silky black fur melted away to expose his golden skin tone as he crawled over you.
Soon he had you pinned, unable to get away as he looked down at you. He wasnât answering your questions and you decided to change tactics. âDo you er⌠have a name?â A look of excitement came over his face and he opened his mouth.Â
Whatever you were expecting to come out of him was not what you got. In a voice you werenât expecting from what you could only assume was a creature youâd just seen, he answered. âYeah, Iâm Chris,â he said, a slight accent you recognized. It wasnât too different from yours.
âCh-Chris?â you asked, feeling slightly relieved when he nodded eagerly. âAnd heâs Felix,â he added, jerking his thumb over his shoulder towards the left. You turned your head, almost letting out another scream when you saw another pair of bright green eyes staring at you from just above the surface of the water. The head raised and you were surprised that this one looked so different from the first.
âIs this some sort of mimicry technique?â you wondered to yourself as you looked between the two.
The second one, Felix, was equally as handsome and looked like some kind of model. He had freckles littering his nose and cheeks, looking like stars dotting the sky. His hair was longer than Chrisâ, blond and swept back, a few strands framing his face. He had a much slender build.
âF-Felix?â you asked, looking at Chris. The one named Felix nodded, moving closer, his body gliding through the water with ease. âWhatâs your name?â he asked, his voice, which was much deeper, took you by surprise. âY/N,â you answered as he neared you, also crawling up the slope of the embankment until the water hit just above his navel. Or where you assumed a navel would be.
You felt a hand on your knee under the water and your attention snapped back to Chris. âWhatâre you doing?â you asked, trying to squirm away but a firm hand held you down. âYou canât leave,â Chris said sternly. You looked from him to Felix and back. âWh-why?â
âBecause,â Chris started. âYou took something from our stream,â Felix interjected, resting his head in his hand as he stared up at you. âYouâre really pretty,â he added with a smile. âTh-thanks â wait, timeout,â you said, holding up your hands. âWhat exactly did I take?â you asked, looking up at Chris.
He nodded at the top of the embankment. You followed your gaze to find he was looking at your canteen which was occasionally dripping water onto the dirt. You turned back to Chris. âWater?â you asked. âThe water I spilled when that.. that thing â grabbed my ankle?â
Chris looked mildly offended at your words. âIâm not a thing,â he retorted. âIâm a bunyip.â Your eyes widened as you stared at him. âA bunyip? The legendary maneater from Aboriginal mythology?â You turned your gaze towards Felix who raised his brows, giving you a flash of a smile before you turned back to Chris. âYouâre that creature?â you asked softly. Chris nodded.
âWe both are,â Felix added. âWell, not the one you saw,â he clarified. âThat was all Chris,â he explained. âGrabbing your ankle and yanking you down. I was over there.â Felix pointed down the way to where a log was sticking out of the water.
You nodded slowly. âBut youâre still the same⌠creature?â you asked. Felix nodded. âBunyip,â he corrected. You turned back to Chris. âI only took some water because Iâm lost,â you explained. âI went for a hike and now I canât find my way back to my camp.â
âThatâs unfortunate,â Felix said, still resting his head in his hand as he stared at you. âVery unfortunate,â Chris chimed in. âBut you still took without giving and now that water has been wasted. Not very nice of you in a place like this,â he continued. You glared up at him.Â
âI only spilled that water because you grabbed me by the ankle and dragged me backwards. I wouldnât have dropped the canteen if you hadnât done that!â Chris turned his head to lock eyes with Felix before his gaze returned to you.Â
âRegardless,â he started. âYou still took from us and we demand a toll.â You stared incredulously at him, âA toll? For water? In the outback?â you asked. âAre you fucking kidding me!?â You looked between the two who merely stared at you. Clearly this wasnât some joke or prank. âYouâve got to be kidding! Weâre in the middle of the fucking desert!â you snapped. Chris leaned forward, making you lean away, your back pressing against the dirt embankment.Â
âDo I look like Iâm kidding, sweetheart?â he asked, tilting his head. His close proximity rendered you speechless as you stared up at him. âWh-what do you want?â you asked, your voice barely above a whisper. Chris glanced at Felix who had moved, shifting closer to where the two of you were.
âJust a toll,â Chris finally answered. âPayment for the water you took and then spilled.â A frown formed on your face. You were about to respond but Felix spoke instead. âI think the spilling was your fault. You canât fault the poor thing from her reaction when you grabbed her by the ankle and knocked her down. You donât even have ankles,â Felix countered. Chris glared at him before sighing. âFine,â he said.
âJust for taking the water then,â he said. âI donât have money on me,â you said softly. Chris chuckled. âThatâs alright, sweetheart,â he said, reaching a hand up to caress your cheek. âWe donât want your money,â Felix added. He was now right next to you. âThatâs not the kind of toll we want.â
âIf they didnât want money, what could they possibly want?â
âThen what do youââ you started, your words failing when Chris leaned in closer.
âWe want you,â he interrupted. You stared up at him, eyes wide, like you were prey, caught in the eyes of a predator. âM-me?!â you asked, your voice cracking. You felt fingers brush your arm and turned to look at Felix. âYes,â he said softly, giving you an angelic smile. âWe want you, honey.â
You looked between them again. âLike⌠to eat?â you asked. Chris and Felix exchanged looks before they both burst into laughter. âYou think we want to eat you?â Chris asked, his laughter subsiding. If they didnât want to eat you, what could they possibly want?
âOkay,â you said softly. âNow Iâm confused.â
âThatâs alright, baby,â Chris said softly, resting his weight on top of you. âWould you like me to explain or would you rather we just show you?â he asked, his lips ghosting over yours. A shiver ran up your spine as the realization settled in. They didnât want to eat you.
They wanted to fuck you.
The idea should have been preposterous. Not one, but two massive legendary creatures known for killing and eating people wanted to fuck you. You should have been sent screaming for the hills but instead you were intrigued. The forms they took on were much better to look at than the massive seal-like creature youâd initially seen but would they stay that way? Or was it a ploy to get you to agree and then actually eat you?
A million questions were swirling inside your brain but you only managed to ask a few.
âWill you stay like that?â you asked, gesturing to him. A smile crossed Chrisâ face as he realized you were actually considering his and Felix's proposition. âOf course,â he answered. âWouldnât want to scare you off,â he added with a wink. âAnd you promise you arenât going to eat me?â you asked.
Chris snorted, laughing in a low tone. âWe arenât going to eat you,â he replied. âSpeak for yourself,â Felix said, giving you a very smirk as his eyes roamed over your body. âIâll eat something,â he added.Â
Chris rolled his eyes. âDown, boy,â he said before returning his attention to you. âAny other questions?â he asked, cocking his head to the left. âAre we doing this right here? Out in the open?â you asked, looking around the ditch. Chris scoffed, sounding almost indignant when he spoke.
âYou think we would do that? Have you out in the open where anyone could just walk right up and watch?â he asked. You shrugged wordlessly. You didnât know what was going on in their heads. It wasnât like you did this often. Youâd never been in a position like this before.
Chris shook his head. âNo,â he said softly. âWeâll take you back to our lair,â he continued. More private, and out of the sun,â he added, looking towards the sky. âAnd much cooler,â Felix chimed in. âHow does that sound?â he asked, caressing your arm. âA nice and cool spot where we can have you all to ourselves?â You swallowed the lump that had formed in your throat before nodding slowly.
âItâs settled,â Chris said, sitting back up and holding out his hand. You stared at it for a moment before taking it and allowing him to pull you up. âWhere are we going exactly?â you asked as Felix moved, shifting to the middle of the stream. âOur home,â he said, dipping down until just his head was visible. âIs it far?â you asked as Chris pulled you deeper into the water.
âItâs not far,â he answered. âItâs a nice series of caverns,â he added as he moved behind you, wrapping one of his strong arms around your midsection. âYou might get a little wet,â he continued, whispering in your ear, his breath making your hair stand on end and tickling your neck. âOh,â he added as you started to float along the slow moving stream, his arm tightening around your stomach.
âAnd you might want to hold your breath.â
The route to their den was so hidden that you would have never spotted it from above and unless you were in the water, you still would have never seen it. There was a massive hole in the ditch which both Felix and Chris dived through. You had taken a deep breath before being submerged.
The tunnel led from the ditch to a large underwater cavern. Here, Chris resurfaced in a small air pocket to let you catch your breath before continuing on, taking one of the many tunnels that branched off from the main cavern. The tunnel wasnât long but it was dark and impossible to see. You were left to the mercy of the man â creature? â holding you tightly against his chest as he swam.
There was a power he had, swimming along with what you could only assume was a tail. You never actually saw the lower half of his body so you could neither confirm nor deny if he even had legs. Though you did vaguely remember Felix saying Chris didnât have ankles so perhaps that meant they didnât have legs.
You didnât have time to dwell on it as your lungs started to burn with the lack of oxygen. You started to panic, wondering if you might drown down here and you felt extremely embarrassed at the thought of the potential circumstances surrounding your disappearance from the human world.
âAll for some dick, too.â
As you started to struggle in Chrisâ hold, he tightened his grip and sped up, kicking harder until the tunnel opened up. It was still dark but not like the tunnels had been. There seemed to be a little bit of light coming from above. Chris pulled you to the surface and you gasped, coughing as air filled your lungs. He kept a firm hold on you while you struggled to breathe.
âTake your time,â he said softly, keeping you afloat. You focused on breathing, inhaling deeply and slowly. Felix was nowhere to be seen as you looked around the air pocket. You cast your gaze up and noticed that there was a small round hole at the top of the cavern, letting a little bit of light into the cavern.Â
âAre we underground?â you asked. Chris nodded. âWe are,â he answered. âPretty far actually,â he added. You looked around but saw nothing other than the rock. âYou ready to keep going?â he asked. You nodded, taking another deep breath. âWeâre almost there.â
The rest of the journey to the den went by without incident and soon Chris was pushing you up onto a small smooth incline made of stone. Felix was already lounging nearby, the lower half of his body submerged in the water. You looked around, noticing a small sandy area further back.
Looking up, you noticed that there were several holes in the ceiling, allowing sunlight to filter in, bouncing off the rocky surface of the walls. The entire cavern was about 12 meters in diameter. From the waterâs surface, the rocky walls ran up before starting to curve up towards the flat top. Deep grooves decorated the walls, almost like massive claws had dug into the rock, leaving behind marks.
The sandy pit area was small with a partial rock wall separating it from another area that was hidden from view. You felt weight on top of your legs and turned back to find Chris crawling over you slowly. âLooking for an escape route?â he asked with a sly grin. You shook your head. âNo,â you answered softly. âJust taking in the scenery. I didnât even know there was a cave system down here,â you added as you looked up at the holes in the ceiling.
âAre we under a mountain or something? It seems so large.â
Chris chuckled, his laugh drowned out by a splashing sound. You turned your head to find the place where Felix had been lounging was now empty and the blond was nowhere in sight. âYouâd be surprised by a lot of things here in the Outback,â he said softly, hand skimming up the outside of your thigh to your wet shorts.
âOh right,â you said, looking up as he got closer. âWe sort of had a deal.â Chris chuckled as he drew level with you. âIndeed we did, honey,â he said, stopping so his lips were almost grazing yours. âI wonât do anything without your permission,â he added. âSo you have to say it, out loud, that youâre okay with this.â You nodded. âI am,â you replied. âIâm okay with this.â Chrisâ eyes flashed, the green seeming to illuminate in the low light of the cave. âGood,â he simply said before crashing his lips against yours.Â
You felt his hand cup the back of your neck as he guided you down onto the rocky surface, your press pressing into the wet fabric of your shirt. Chrisâ lips left yours, making a path down your neck to the top of your shirt. He pulled back just enough to untuck your shirt from your shorts and tug it upwards. You let him pull it off you, his lips reconnecting with yours as his hands moved skillfully over your skin.
It made you wonder if heâd done this before.
Your thoughts were short lived as he undid the front clasp of your bra, quickly and easily sliding the straps down your arms and tossing the garment somewhere you couldnât see, hoping it had been towards the sand pit and not into the water. That was your favorite bra.
Goosebumps erupted over your skin as Chrisâ hands cupped your chest, gently squeezing and kneading the flesh as he parted your lips with his own, tongue slipping into your mouth to find yours in a mix of heavy breathing and saliva.
You whimpered as his fingers gently pinched and rolled your nipples. He pulled back, lowering his head and taking one into his mouth, tongue swirling around the bud. As your eyes fluttered shut, you heard light sloshing of water in the background.
Lifting your head, you caught sight of another pair of bright green eyes watching you from just above the surface of the water, wet blond hair swept back. Felix was swimming back and forth behind Chris, just observing as the blue-haired manâs lips moved lower and lower, reaching your navel.
He pulled back, his deft fingers making quick work of your belt before quickly undoing the tack button and zipper of your shorts. âLift your hips for me, pretty,â Chris breathed. You did as he asked, allowing him to tug the wet material of your shorts down your thighs and discard them on the rocks beside you.
Once he had you completely naked, he shifted down, shrugging your legs over his shoulder before bringing his face level with your sex. He didnât even spare a second glance before diving right in, parting your lips and dragging his tongue slowly over your clit. Your fingers tangled in his hair, hips rolling as he ravaged the nub with his tongue.
You heard another splash and lifted your head to find Felix was even closer now, eyes instead on where Chrisâ head was between your thighs. He had an intense look of hunger on his face but judging by how he still kept his distance, you figured there was some kind of hierarchical order at play here. Chris must have been the more dominant of two but you werenât about to let Chris have his way with you without giving Felix some attention.
After all, they had both said they wanted you. It seemed only fair.
Letting go of Chrisâ hair you raised one hand up to beckon Felix over to you. His eyes shifted from Chris to you and back, clearly hesitating until he got permission from the larger of the two. âChris,â you said, choking back a moan. âDonât you â ah â donât you think Felix deserves a reward for being so patient?â
Felix turned his gaze back towards you as Chris merely grunted in response. Taking his response as the go ahead, you once again beckoned Felix over to you with a finger. Chrisâ grip on your hips tightened as Felix approached slowly. You heard a growl rumble from deep within Chris but light tugged his hair.
âYou donât have to stop,â you gasped as he dug his tongue into your hole. It was inhuman how his tongue seemed to fill your cunt, lapping at your walls and finding that soft spongy spot that had your back arching. Felix had crawled part of the way up the rocky incline, keeping his eyes on Chris, ready to bolt in the event that the large male lashed out.
There was another deep growl but Chris merely tugged you down, further into the water as he continued to fuck you with his tongue. Once he was level with your body, you reached out, taking Felixâs chin in your hand and turned his gaze towards you. âEyes on me,â you said softly. Felix nodded silently, lips parting slightly.
âCâmere,â you said, pulling him into a kiss. The moment his lips touched yours, Chris pulled his tongue from your cunt, instead dragging it back up to your clit before sucking on the nub. You moaned into Felixâs mouth. The smaller male shifted, hovering over the top half of your body. One of his hands moved to gently grab and squeeze your chest. Another growl emanated from Chris but he allowed the contact to happen.Â
Your entire body felt like it was on fire from the touches of both men â creatures? At this point you werenât even sure what they were. The top half of them, the part out of the water, was human. But from the waist down you couldnât even tell. You really didnât even care at this point.
Not when they were both making you feel so good.
You moaned against Felixâs lips as you felt Chris push two fingers into your cunt, your walls squeezing around them immediately. Chris slowly pumped his fingers in and out of you, resting his head against your inner thigh as he watched your makeout session with Felix. âI have an idea,â he said suddenly. Felix pulled back, turning his head to look at the older male.
âTake her spot,â Chris said, pulling his finger from your wetness and dragging you further into the water. Felix moved into the spot you had been. âOn your back,â Chris instructed, turning you around in the water to face Felix. âLook at him,â Chris whispered in your ear. You did as he said, eyes widening now that you could get a good look at Felix.
The top portion of his body was just as you already knew â human.
But where his hips began, the human toned skin blended into the dark, smooth seal-like fur. He didnât have legs like a human. Instead it was almost like he was half man, half seal. The end of his tail was in the water so you couldnât see the tip but could surmise it was also probably like a sealâs. Your eyes wandered over his body and you noticed the lack of a certain appendage.
Before you could ask, Chris pushed you through the water towards Felix.Your knees met the edge of the rocky incline and Chris made you climb up over Felix until you were face to face with him. âI think he needs some more attention,â Chris said as he backed away a short distance.
You looked over your shoulder at him. Felix grabbed your chin and turned you back towards him. âEyes on me, angel,â he said in a soft but commanding tone. Without Chris nearby, he let his more dominant side come out. You nodded as his hand moved down to your throat, fingers flexing lightly around your neck before he slid his hand around to the back and pulled you into a messy kiss.
You allowed him to take the lead, one hand resting on the back of your neck as the other moved to pull you over him as he laid back against the rock. You let out a moan as your core came into contact with the smooth skin of where a groin would be on a human. There was a rather large bulge you were pressing against at the base of his torso.
Both his hands moved to your hips, guiding you to grind against him. The friction felt amazing since Chris hadnât quite gotten you over the edge. âThatâs it,â Felix whispered, breath hot against your lips. âKeep going.â Your body started to shudder as you chased your high. As you got closer, you felt something warm against your cunt.
âWhatâs that?â you asked breathlessly. âWhat do you think it is, baby?â Chrisâ voice asked from right behind you. While your attention was focused on Felix, heâd managed to sneak up behind you. Your mind was sent reeling with the possibility of what you were feeling between your legs. It was warm, slick, and pulsating. âUse your brain, sweetheart,â Chris added, brushing his lips along your shoulder.
Using what crude knowledge you had of their anatomy, you figured it was potentially some sort of reproductive organ. âIs itâŚâ your words failed you, heat rising to your cheeks. Would calling it a cock be appropriate? Was it even a penis? You couldnât see it, only feel. âIs it what?â Felix asked, amusement in his voice as he tried to coax an answer out of you.
âIs it⌠a⌠dick?â
Chris chuckled, his hot breath fanning over your shoulder. âWhat else would it be?â Your cheeks burned even more as you realized you were caught between their bodies. âWell, I donât know,â you whined. âI canât see it.âÂ
You let out a squeak as Chris hauled you off Felix, pulling you back towards the water just far enough that you got an eyeful of Felixâs body. Your eyes widened as you took in what you were seeing. The bulge you had been rutting against had split open at a vertical slit in the middle revealing a long deep bluish-purple appendage.Â
The base of it was slightly thicker, tapering up to a slightly flared and angled head. The color wasnât uniform throughout, being more blue at the base and more purplish at the tip. It was long, maybe twenty centimeters from base to tip. If you had to guess the circumference, youâd say it was fifteen to seventeen centimeters.
âAre you just going to stare at it?â Chris whispered into your ear. âOr are you going to do something?â
His breath made a shiver run up your spine as you stared at Felixâs cock, walls clenching around nothing as it twitched. Without speaking, you pushed away from Chris, climbing back over Felix and crashing your lips against his, pushing him back against the rock.
Felixâs hands moved to your waist, groaning as you grinded against him. He guided your hips, grinding your clit against the underside of his cock. You whimpered into the kiss, rolling your hips faster. You pulled away, pressing kisses to the underside of his jaw as you heard water sloshing behind you.
âSettle down,â Chris said calmly. You lifted your head, looking back at him. âMake me,â you retorted. The moment the words left your lips, you regretted it as his hand darted between your thighs, two fingers pushing into your sex and making you moan. He held them there, feeling your walls contract tightly. âOh, I think sheâs ready,â Chris said, addressing Felix. âYouâll get your turn,â he explained as he moved behind you, grabbing your hips and holding you in place.
âWhatâre you ââ you murmured, lifting your head only for Felix to grab your face and make you face him. âEyes on me, angel,â he whispered, green eyes staring into your own. You stared back, admiring the freckles that dotted his cheeks and nose.
You let out a groan, eyes fluttering shut as you felt the head of Chrisâ cock press against you. Having seen Felixâs, you hadnât expected Chrisâ to be much different but you momentarily forgot that Chris was the larger of the two. Chris pushed into you, the head breaching your entrance and making you gasp out in pain. Felixâs arms wrapped around you, holding your body against his.
âRelax,â he whispered into your ear as you buried your face in his neck, body shuddering and tensing violently. Chris made no attempt to move or remove himself, instead keeping perfectly still as your walls slowly adjusted. âItâs okay,â Felix cooed. âJust relax, baby.â
You took several deep breaths as you let your body slowly calm down, the tension in your muscles lessening as the stinging pain of Chrisâ cock stretching your walls ebbed away. When he felt your body was lax enough, Chris pushed further into you, his thick cock sliding inside slowly.
Felix guided you through it, whispering words of encouragement into your ear and peppering light kisses on your cheek and shoulder. The pressure of his hard cock throbbing against your clit as Chris filled your cunt made you whimper. You felt the head of Chrisâ cock kiss your cervix and he finally stopped.
âHold onto her,â Chris said softly to the blond as he moved his hands to support his weight, palms flat against the rock. Felixâs arms around you tightened and before you could ask what was going on, you felt Chris start to pull from you, making you whine but as quickly as he retracted, his hips snapped forward, thrusting into you with a strength you didnât expect.
You cried out both in shock and in pleasure, the wind being knocked from your lungs with the first powerful thrust. He set a steady, but bruising pace, pounding into you from behind. Each thrust made your hips rock forward, grinding your clit against Felix, making both of you moan.
You buried your face in Felixâs neck, muffling your cries of pleasure. The lewd squelching sound of Chrisâ cock ramming into you repeatedly echoed around the cavern along with his grunts and Felixâs moans. You felt impossibly full of his cock, having never taken anything this big before and somehow he managed to fit all of it inside you.
âGod,â you heard Chris groan. âYouâre so beautiful when youâre fucked out under him,â Felix added, moving a hand to cup your cheek, chuckling breathlessly when you leaned into his warm palm.
Your walls spasmed around Chrisâ cock as the orgasm that had been building since he had you on your back finally crashed over you, waves of bliss spreading throughout your body as if shuddered, your clit still grinding against the underside of Felixâs slick cock. His hips started to buck, grinding hard against you as he chased his own high.
âF-uck,â he groaned. âGonna cum!â
His warning came just in time as you felt a warmth gush between your bodies as his release spilled out of him, painting his stomach and spilling onto the rock under him. His hold on you pulled you closer, this cum sticking to your body as well as Chris thrust harder into you, each movement erratic but still powerful as he neared the edge.
âHold her still,â he growled, which Felix complied instantly, holding you in place as another orgasm washed over you, your cunt convulsing around Chrisâ cock, taking him over the edge with you with a loud moan. Chrisâ teeth sank into your shoulder as he came, muffling his growl as he released into you, his hot, thick cum coating your walls and spilling out of you.
He continued to move, thrusting and fucking his cum back into you until he stopped, burying his cock deep inside, the tip resting against your cervix as another surge of cum spilled into you. You could feel a small pressure build in the pit of your stomach, moaning as his cum spilled into your womb. It was unlike anything youâd ever felt before.
âSheâs passing out,â you heard Felix murmur as he tilted your head, your eyes fluttering shut and their voices starting to fall to the background of your consciousness. âClean her off,â you barely heard Chris say before everything went black.
When you came to, you were lying on your back, cool air hitting your skin. Your eyes opened abruptly and you sat up, looking around to find you were on the outskirts of your camp. The sun had long since set and the sky was littered with stars. You got up, looking down to find you were dressed in semi dry clothes. Your bag sat next to where youâd been lying.
You brushed yourself off and grabbed your bag, finding your canteen full of water. You stumbled back into camp, thighs sore as you looked around. You found your tent and walked over, unzipping it and peering inside. You slunk into it, turning to zip it shut and started to mull over what just happened.
Had you passed out from exhaustion and imagined the whole thing?
The ache between your thighs said otherwise. You opened your bag to check your things, grabbing your flashlight to inspect the contents. Nothing seemed to be missing as you pulled everything out until you saw a small note inside one of the small pockets. Placing the flashlight between your shoulder and jaw, you used both hands to hold the bag and pull out the paper, unfolding it before grabbing the flashlight and reading the note.

!!NOTE!! This is not entirely accurate to the VN, usually i refer back to it making sure that i got everything correct, i did not do that for this one. I pulled the details from memory. If somethingâs wrong please leave a comment.
âOk, Iâve got my phone, portable charger, and just in case i get lost, a solar chargerâŚâ you list off, looking at the many items spread across your bed. âMy laptop and a charger, the forest might be a nice place to get work done. Peaceful too. Headphones, earbuds, extra chargerâŚâ you pause, thinking for a moment. you shouldnât be out for too long, at most, you should be back by sunset. But you were hoping that once you found your precious furry little mischievous cat you could sit and get some work done, or maybe watch some anime. It was a rarity that you went outside anymore let alone adventuring through the woods. Why not take advantage of it?
âOh yeah! Water and stacks, i should grab those too. And maybe some cat treats~â humming to yourself you walked to the kitchen, searching through your cabinets. âMaybe I should bring some soda tooâŚâ you muttered, reaching for your drinks. Walking back to your bedroom you start stuffing your backpack, ready for this journey. Stepping outside, the sun hit your face, blinding you. Squinting while your eyes adjusted you looked around. âCurse you evil day star, why do you gotta be so damn bright?â You muttered under your breath as you started walking into the forest. The shade of the trees eased the suns assault on your eyes, but it was still to bright for your liking.
after a while of walking, you came across a small patch of mushrooms. You stopped for a moment to look around. (And to rest a bit, all that stuff you packed is really heavy) there was something laying near the mushroom patch. Gasping as you reached down to pick up a collar âyou must be close⌠just wait a little longerâŚâ you muttered to the collar. As you stood back up, but your foot slipped causing you to crash back down and into the mushrooms. They sprayed you with what you assumed to be a foul smelling pollen. âNooooo!â You wined, looking at your clothes. âI really liked this hoodie, itâs going to take forever to get all the allergens out. Eugh! And the smellâŚâ
As you sat there, a sense of calm started to seep in. Along with the need to take a nap. Your eyes grew heavy, and your limbs relaxed. Closing your eyes, you decided to go ahead and take a nap. Laying down, you rested your head on your backpack. As you started to drift off, you thought that maybe your cat will back track and find you here. it would be a nice surprise to wake up with them back in your arms, snuggled up all cozy. Yeah, that would be nice.
.
.
.
âUghhhhâ you mentally groaned as you slowly woke up, begrudgingly you opening your eyes and noted that you were in an unfamiliar cabin. You couldnât move your body causing you to spur into a panic. Where am I? Why canât I move? Wait what happened? Was I drugged?! I think i was taking a nap, yeah, how long was I out?
âOh, Youâre awake.â A voice called from a corner of the room I couldnât see.
âHere, medicine.â He said, moving me to sit up as he pressed a cup to my lips. Drinking it helped feeling slowly return to my body. As I wiggles my fingers and toes I watched him whip a stray stream from my chin. He had this weird mossy skin color⌠Was he a cosplayer? He looked kinda cute. His blonde hair hung over his eyes, and he had a cute mushroom hat on.
âFelling better? Anymore numbness?â
âNo, my fingertips are a bit tingly, but thatâs it.â
He signed and gave me a warm smile, âGood, I was worried.â
âBy the wayyyyyâ you dragged out, as you sat up âWhereâs my bag?â
âOh, right over there.â He gestured over to the fireplace where your bag sat next to the wall. âHere.â He said, standing up to hand you the bag.
Struggling, still loopy from whatever the hell paralyzed you, you scramble checking your bag. âLaptop, phone, charger, yep, yes, andddd everythingâs still here!â You mumble to yourself. All the expensive electronics are not stolen, but also still in working conditions. Or at least you assume, both your phone and iPad are dead, the laptop is at 1%.
âDid you drop something?â The man asks,
âThankfully not. A lotta expinsive stuff in here.â You look around, taking in the wooden walls and floors, âwhere am I anyway?â
âMy cabin, I found you passed out while forgoing. Sorry, there was nowhere else nearbyâ he trails off, looking out the window.
âhow far is the nearest town?â
He looks off to the side, a guilty look on his face, âI donât know for certain, but it takes about a day and a half to safely get to the nearest-â
âA DAY AND A HALF!?â You almost shriek, he covers his ear, slightly flinching at the volume. âIf you want to avoid the dangerous plants and animals, yes.â He responds, stepping closer and sitting next to you on the edge of the bed. He reached a hand out, wanting to comfort you, but decided against it.
You sat back, closing your eyes and thinking. âmaybe I could stay here for a day or two? Then I could head back. Yeah, that should be enough time to mentally prepare myself. Then-â
âWait why was I even out here?â Instinctively you reached for your phone, wanting to check your notes. But remembering its dead, you pivoted to pretend you were going to clean the nonexistent dirt off the screen.
âWAIT!â Halfway through the action you remember, âMy cat!â You wine.
âHave you seen them, theyâre this big, and- and- ughhh I need to charge my phone i have pictures.â You rush to grab your charger. âI never thought Iâd need thisâ you say pulling out the solar charger. âIâm glad it wasnât just wasted money.â
Stumbling past him you set the charger on the nearby window and wait.
A few awkward moments pass by before your phone lights up. You hurriedly type in your passcode and go to your photos, the boy watching curiously over your shoulder.
âSee! Arenât they just the just the cutest! Look here are some kitten pictures!â
Watching you talk so passionately about your cat pulled at Mychaelâs heart. He wasnât going to tell you before, but now he definitely doesnât want to tell you. You looked so happy, he enjoyed watching the way your eyes light up, and the way you smiled at the memories.
âOh, I really got off track⌠but have you seen them?â
âNo, Iâm sorry, I havenât.â He frowned.
âOhâŚâ your face fell, and he really didnât like seeing you sad.
âWait, I havenât even told you my name! Sorry I get distracted a lot.â You said turning to look at him.
âIâm y/nâ
âIâm Mychaelâ

Do you know why all these children are gathering like this? I will show you now how people in Gaza are trying to charge their mobiles. (The camera turns and Bisan Greets someone off camera, and then she days "I want to show them the chargers, guys!" in Arabic. It then shows a number of children gathered around a number of wires and phones connected to a few extension cords and outlets, all very crowded and tangled. Bisan speaks to the children in Arabic:) Are you a family? Do you know each other? (Someone off camera responds with "no!" And Bisan turns the camera back to herself,) So, uh, some people are trying to have some electricity from a solar cell here, and charge from each other here. Some of them are helping, and some of them (Bisan laughs) are taking $0.30 to charge one mobile for two hours. So, there was no solar cells because, this was... literally no one lives here, this is Al-Mawasi, and some people, just a little amount of people build uhh, (shellings?) For example, putting the solar cells to uhh, to spend the (I can't hear this part). So now there are the only people who hsve electricity and charge for others.

Charging an electric car is currently a bit of a bummer. It takes longer than filling up a gas car. When youâre on a trip, you usually have to do it at a boring suburban strip mall or a public park that doesnât even have a video arcade. Not everywhere has a charger, and the chargers you do find are sometimes broken, just like that super-frayed phone charger you need to throw out, itâs going to burn your house down.
Itâs not going to stay this way, because Seat Safety Switching Power Supply Solutions has an answer. Nature already gives us all the electricity weâd ever want. All that zap just falls right from the sky, and we waste it every day by not accumulating it. Solar, you ask? Couldnât be further from the truth. Solar is great and all, but letâs leave it for the important things: elementary-school calculators and looking at pornography in the woods. No, my friends, we are going to harness the power of the gods: lightning itself.
Seems so obvious now, right? You just needed someone to spell it out for you, we all get like that sometimes. Well, like all great innovations, this one took a lot of work to get it over the finish line. If you just go right out there with a big metal stick during a thunderstorm, it will probably (at least) void your warranty. You need yourself a system that can convert the electrical energy from natureâs temper tantrums into juice for your car. Weâre going to give you a big stick with a battery attached.
Not good enough for you? Then itâs not good enough for us. You can also hook up our proprietary big metal stick on overhead electrical lines, such as those used by âtrains,â whatever those are. Let the city pay for your charge! If youâve got more than one person in the car with you (or at least are thinking really hard about another person,) then youâre technically mass transit in our books anyway. And with all the time and money you saved waiting for a charge, you can invest in some high-voltage gloves. Itâs the hot fashion right now, but only 50,000kV and above. Maybe get some rubber boots, too.

Musana Carts: Solar-powered business in Uganda opts for open source IP over patenting
Taking its name from a Ugandan word for âsunshineâ, the Musana cart uses an in-built solar panel to power an eco-friendly stove and a small refrigerator. By removing the need for charcoal burning, the Musana cart produces far less smoke than other food vendor carts, ensuring a cleaner and safer experience for both workers and customers. Other innovations include light bulbs, to allow the vendor to work at night, and phone chargers, so that they can offer mobile money services.
The decision not to patent the Musana cart could have been seen by Nataliey and the team as a setback, but it instead encouraged them to return to their original vision and mission of social innovation: making the livelihoods of Africaâs street food vendors cleaner, safer and more sustainable.
They realized that the more people who had access to their cart designs, the better, and that patenting their invention could restrict access. On this basis, they decided to open source their IP so that vendors across Africa were free to improve their lives through their innovation. When IP is open source, it means that other people and groups can freely use, modify and share it.
After several years of selling to vendors, Musana Carts is already having a positive impact in Kampala. The solar-powered food carts have proved to be cleaner, more hygienic and more sustainable than traditional charcoal-fueled food carts. The Musana cartâs in-built lighting allows vendors to work at night if they choose, giving them an opportunity to earn more. Musana carts can be purchased in installments, making them more accessible to poor workers. The company has also teamed up with Kampala Capital City Authority to ensure that Musana carts are legally recognized, freeing vendors from the risks and uncertainties of working in the informal economy.
Although she sees the value in patent protection in more economically developed countries, where the legal framework is in place to ensure that an individual can be remunerated for the use of their innovation or invention, she knows first-hand that this is much harder to establish in African markets. Consequently, Nataliey encourages female inventors not only to monetize their innovations in their markets, but to share them outside of their capacity as well.
Equally importantly for Nataliey, however, is the philosophy behind open source IP. When there are so many challenges facing the world, she argues, no one individual or organization can satisfy every market need. She feels that thereâs room for many to thrive. Furthermore, Nataliey believes that open sourcing can incentivize further innovation by allowing people to build on each otherâs inventions. Itâs the concept of cooperation, codependence and community at the heart of the African philosophy of ubuntu: âI am, because you are.â Natalieyâs hope is that her companyâs use of open source IP will help make this concept a reality for street food vendors across Africa.
A case study on open source innovation from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

This is my last post before I head off on my ten-day minimal-internet tidalpunk adventure (expect pics when I return!) so I thought Iâd make a nice long list-type thing for all you solarpunks before I go.
Now, this might not seem very cheerful compared to my other topics - certainly all the people Iâve brought this up with irl have acted like Iâm being alarmist and depressing, but I donât see it that way. I view it as being prepared and maximising your ability to keep yourself and your community safe, which is after all what solarpunk is all about!
So without further ado, here is my *extremely idealised* suggestion for an emergency kit list to help you cope with increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather events. The goal is that with the supplies in this bag you could either shelter safely in place or get up and go, and be well supplied in either case to care for yourself and share with those in need. In fact, in both scenarios you would hopefully be able to temporarily âstart from scratchâ in terms of infrastructure should the frameworks of society around you no longer be reliable. I based mine off suggestions by climate scientist Kendra Pierre-Louis (you can check out her advice on the âUnnatural Disastersâ episode of the How To Save A Planet Podcast), but yours might look subtly different depending on who you are, what you can afford/carry, and where you live.
Emergency kit list:
-Big hiking rucksack, to keep everything in
-Sleeping bag
-A small portable tent and camping stove
-A penknife or multi tool
-Matches or a lighter
-Kindling or firestarters - I use wood wool balls held together with wax
-Torch (with up to date batteries!)
-Towels
-Non-perishable or long-life foods, such as protein bars, rice cakes/breadsticks/crackers, dried fruit, bagged nuts/seeds, crisps, tinned soup, pot noodles
-A seedbomb of edible plants (you can get some for slightly excessive prices here in the UK, otherwise they can be made fairly easily by combining clay, straw, paper or flour with the desired seeds)
-Two large water bottles (600-650ml) and a water bladder
-A water purifier (preferably one capable of filtering out both natural pathogens like bacteria and viruses and synthetic pollutants like heavy metals and PFAS)
-A collapsible bucket
-A first aid kit, including plasters, bandages, sterile wipes, hand sanitiser, latex gloves, antiseptic/disinfectant, (K)N95 masks to filter out particulates (whether ash or pathogens), painkillers, antihistamines, rehydration sachets, anti-emetics and anti-diarrhoeals, steroid creams, aloe vera gel, iodine tablets in case of radiation, and any medication you regularly take (including epipens and inhalers if needed)
-A pair of goggles to protect your eyes from air pollution such as smog, wildfire smoke, etc
-Toothpaste tablets and a spare toothbrush
-Period supplies (pack these even if you donât get periods - someone you run into might need them)
-A solar charger
-A satellite phone
-A mechanical handheld fan, with working batteries, to keep you cool in extreme heatďżź
-A magnetic heat belt for extra warmth
-A change of clothes, including a sun hat, a scarf, woolly hat and gloves for extreme cold, and waterproofs (plus an umbrella!) for wet conditions
-Pliers or secateurs for cutting through dense debris or vegetation
-Some strong, climbing-grade rope
-A trowel (for planting and digging up but also for buryingâŚwaste đ
- a long-term wild camping scenario isnât infeasible here)
-Your passport and any other documents (marriage certificate, adoption papers, savings bonds if youâre like a hundred years old) that you might need if fleeing your country becomes a necessity
-As much cash as you are comfortable withdrawing/leaving lying around your house/carrying with you in an emergency
-A personal locator beacon is a radio-transmitter that signals your location to emergency services via satellite. These tend to have a 24-hour battery life, so if you foresee being in any way âstrandedâ for longer then a useful trick is to switch it on for one hour each day, and then turn it off again. This not only saves power but shows emergency services that there is conscious intention involved, proving youâre still alive and lucid
-Some things to keep your spirits up, like a chocolate bar and your favourite/funniest book
-Itâs worth having a sturdy pair of hiking boots for if you have to pick up the bag and go
Obviously this list is super extra, a bunch of these things are prohibitively expensive, and some items would need periodic replacement if a long time passed without the necessity of using the emergency kit. You could also likely build a fairly functional emergency kit with only a fraction of these supplies, Iâm just trying to anticipate every eventuality here.
Itâs up to you whether you think the investment is worth it - itâs a big outlay for a possible zero return. Personally I think itâs at least somewhat worth it as extreme weather is only going to happen more often and have more serious consequences, and preparedness turns what could be a disaster into an inconvenience, often saving money in the long run. But it will depend on the relative likelihood of severe weather events in your local area. Itâs also worth saying that these work for ostensibly non-climate related problems, from a power cut in your town to an authoritarian coup in your government to your house falling down! It isnât just for wildfires or tornadoes.
Over the next few months Iâm hoping to slowly build up the aspects of the kit that are affordable and accessible to me, with the aim of being able to keep myself safe and aid my neighbours should disaster strike.
#solarpunk#disaster preparedness#community care#hopepunk#cottagepunk#environmentalism#social justice#climate change#extreme weather#natural disasters#readiness#obvs all of this stuff is pretty intense but I thought it was worth making the list#also like itâs so expensive I acknowledge especially as Iâve tried not to put Amazon links#how to save a planet#Kendra Pierre-Louis#links mostly for reference#these are just suggestions do what you think is best

hey so nobody knows this blog but i got out of control while telling my friend about a writing a prompt i thought of and so now im giving it to you fire emoji (below the clip)
au where lance had his schoolbag for some reason (he doesnt know why he grabbed it, he likes to think it was the universe letting him have things from home to remind him that yes, he will make it back) and as they reach the edge of the solar system, his bag starts to ring, his familiar ringtone playing throughout the lion.
he's not quite sure why he decided to go on a hunt to find a charger to get it's battery up, maybe fate playing with the strings a bit to get it to happen, he's not sure.
it's what the paladins have deemed as "night-time," around 9pm back on earth. he was nearly asleep but is now clambering for his bag, worn from the years he's spent using it in space. he rips the phone from it, staring in disbelief that he was able to get a signal from all the way out here.
the words are clear on his screen, though his eyes are blurring them, tears threatening to fall.
MAMĂ
his hands are shaky as he clicks the accept button. the heart threatening to beat out of his chest the only thing assuring him that it isnt a dream.
it's quiet for a moment, before his mother's quiet words ring through his ears.
"..mijo?"
she sounds as if she's aged 10 years in only 5, but her voice was still heavy with that slight spanish accent, worn from years of english, that used to scold him and tell lance how much she loves him. but it's everything he's missed. and he can't helps the way his voice breaks when he says,
"mamĂĄ. oh mamĂĄ we're coming home."
----
lance doesn't know why, after the call with his mother ends, he calls keith. sure they're friends now but he hasn't been sure if theyre that close yet.
but he does anyways.
it only rings for a second, the image of keith appearing on his screen. pajamas on, and kosmo laying their head in his lap, with his comm pad held lazily in one hand. the screen lit up with one of the crosswords allura had given them to help with their altean.
"hey man, what's up? you alright? you look like you've been crying."
he leans forward in the chair, much to kosmos dislike, his eyes squinting and brow furrowed in concern.
lance suddenly feels concious of how he looks, eyes red and puffy, but just wipes at his eyes, looking at the side of his controls rather than the screen.
"yeah, it's just uh. i got a call from my mom, from my old phone. and i just, i don't know."
keith sits up fully in his seat, although knocking kosmo's head off fully, and clicks his comm pad off and setting it onto the floor.
"dude, really?! i'm surprised you got signal all the way out here. but i'm glad for you! how was she doing?"
keith looks genuinely happy for him, not something lance often had the privilege to see.
"she's uhm."
he takes a moment to steel himself. taking a deep breath as he reminds himself that he won't have to talk about only memories of her the next day. it won't hurt to talk about her.
"she's doing good, she was uh. really happy to hear from me. says she called me every week just to see if i would maybe pick up."
and lance's heart can't help but break, as he thinks about his mamĂĄ, face creased with worry, sat with her phone in hand, hoping her son would pick up. hoping that he would come back. that he would come home.
"she uh, only starting calling once or twice per month after the first year, so i guess i got lucky. it was really nice to hear her voice again. i almost forgot."
(his face falls, as he thinks of the countless nights that he'd try. try to hard to remember what she sounded like. how she rolled her r's, how she sounded as she yelled at him to do his chores faster, how she said i love you. he could never get it just right.)
"it's funny honestly, i used to hope for the day that i wouldn't have to hear it as much. i'd mock her voice from behind my door after an argument. but now i can't even imagine that. i guess, you don't know how much you'd miss something until you lose it.
and i know it seems silly to miss her this much considering we were gone only 2 years. but for her it was five. and at some points i wasn'tâ"
his voice begins to crack, his hand gripping the edge of his seat so hard that his fingers were white. the tears in his eyes threatening to fall.
"âi wasn't sure if i'd ever see her again. if i'd be able to tell her that i was coming home."
lance gives a watery laugh, rubbing his hand on the back of his head as he realises that he just dumped that all on keith.
âsorry that was, kind of a ramble.â
he finally looks back up at the screen, tears pricking the back of his eyes as he tries not to cry again. keith is staring at seemingly nothing just behind the screen, face drawn up in an expression lance can't decipher. thoughtfulness? he's not quite sure. but he doesn't have time to figure it out before keith speaks again, his gaze falling down to the floor as he starts to fidget with the string on his sweatpants.
"i understand what you mean. and im not trying to make this about me but, after spending two years on a space whale, i learned theres a lot of things you don't realise you'll miss."
he looks up, his face almost determined as he looks at lance directly now.
"but hey, you'll get to see her tomorrow, you won't have to miss her for much longer."
lance nods, smiling as a warmth spreading through his chest. he feels a renewed hope for the next day. he was going to go home.
(little note but the idea that theres a big group that surrounds the lions after they land, which the paladins get lost in immediately
and so lance is desperately searching through the crowd trying to find his family, before seeing keith waving and pointing almost frantically, but a smile on his face.
and as the crowd moves his mamĂĄ comes into view, standing next to keith
she calls out to lance, and he immediately runs over, engulfing her in a hug that lasts, definitely more than 20 seconds, and once he pulls away she starts tearfully rambling about how much she missed him, how she always knew in her heart that he'd come back, etc. etc.
but after a moment wipes the tears from her eyes and cheerfully exclaims that she was struggling to find him before keith had helped her, saying how nice he is, mother stuff yk
and keith is looking away blushing slightly from the compliments, and lance just looks at him and thanks him with such a genuine tone that keith cant help but smile fondly at him)
#i went insane and wrote all 1.2k words of this in under 40 minutes#might continue it/flesh it out more in the future#i have a couple more ideas that would work really well with it#who knows!#keith kogane#lance mcclain#klance#voltron

So, I've seen a lot of talking about how shorting out really hurts him, since in the first few seasons it's shown that Denki can't really control his powers that well. Idk if it's canon or fanon, but the headcanon that follows comes from the whole Denki being dumb after shorting is his brain shutting down to avoid the pain thought process.
So, once he gets around to telling 1A about how it hurts when he shorts out, they 1) feel hella bad and apologize for making him the butt of the jokes over something that physically hurts him, and 2) some of them *coughDekucough* start to research how to avoid that. And while the obvious answer is for him to just not short himself out, obviously battle has shown that isn't always the answer. Sometimes Denki has to push himself to save others.
After researching and discussing with multiple people and everything, a good portion of A1 realize that it'd probably be less painful if his body didn't need to regenerate the electricity on its own. That's a lot of energy it's producing while already in a weakened state, so that's just even more taxing on him. So what do they do?
All of his friends and everyone who routinely hangs out with him/are paired with him in training start carrying extra portable battery packs and solar powered chargers with them. Yaoyorozu adds the designs for a hand crank charger and mini-solar panels to her design book. And Denki just thinks "Oh, yeah, it's good to have backups for our phones in case they die on us."
But then something happens - it can be training or they're caught in ANOTHER battle against villains or something, and he shorts himself out to get himself and some others out of a bind. But then he snaps out of it quicker than he ever has with five cords in his mouth that he's just sucking on and all these power packs in his lap, and he's been moved to a safe place, and one of his team members has stayed behind to cover him. "Don't worry bro, you charge up! I got this!"
And Denki just realizes he's not only the comic relief, he actually has friends.

PLEASE WE NEED YOUR HELP
Valencia has been harmed by the Dana and almost 300 has already died, some are still not found and thereâs still people stuck on flooded houses and more!!!
Unfortunately, even though it was said through some social media that this accident would come, it was said publicly that it would stop around 6 pm, it did not, in fact, the flooding started around that hour and many people ended up being stuck or dead, by the time the actual alarm reached the people from Valencia, it was already 8 pm and many have already lost their lives or were unable to reach their houses
So what is a Dana? It is a meteorological phenomenon in the form of an air mass that completely separates itself from a very cold current and descends on another stream of hot air, producing large atmospheric disturbances accompanied by very intense rain
All of this because instead of giving money to the emergency services or evacuations, the money was given to other stuff because it was said they would never need this services
Until now
Many people from near has come to help clean but they still need the things they lost
If you can donate we would all be very grateful, everything from money to food could help
Please try to investigate as much as you can and find ways to donate, even if itâs just money
Many people are desperate because this emergency hasnât reached many other countries for help like maybe some others would and we need much more help
Here is a list of everything you could donate if you find ways to do so on your cities or counties:
1)Clothes (the bigger the better, they have to be comfortable and fit anyone there who may need it)
2)Childrenâs clothing
3) Shoes and underwear (whatever you can: women's, men's, children's, socks...)
4) water
5)Milk
6) Non-perishable food (that is already cooked: preserves, cans... Let's keep in mind that many people will not have the option of cooking)
7) Breakfast (powdered milk, baby food, cookies...)
8) animal/pet food
9)medication (cough syrups, aspirin...)
10) Diapers, toilet paper, pads and tampons (this 2 last are very needed since they barely get any)
11) Blankets and coats
12) Solar chargers for mobile phones
13) Flashlights (if they are solar or dynamo, the better)
14) shovels (all Valencia is covered in mud and sand, itâs very much needed)
Even if you canât donate, please share with as many people as you can!!!
Since I live in Spain Iâm not sure about all of your situation or if you can help but please at least share!!!
Please show us that you care, no matter how. Here in Spain we always help other countries and itâs so sad how this situation isnât reaching as much. You have no idea how much people in Valencia are suffering, and not only that, but their loved ones. Many havenât even been found, and even some bodies are still stuck. Itâs been so long since we lost so many people, innocent people, and it breaks my heart that it doesnât reach other people as much as other situations do.
Please show us that Spain is more than just the vacation destination you go to in the summer, show us that you care! Show the people in Valencia that their situation matter for more than just their own country.
