Writing Update
I'm so happy!
Today was a productive day. I wrote the first 5 choices for the second path of the next update and managed to finish rewriting the prologue of the game.
A lot of descriptions have been added. It's much more immersive now.
If any of you are tempted, I'd love to hear from you about it in the next update.

Something so hot about Zeus and Hera being the prime example of an imperfect marriage and is shown to have many issues and yet both have no problem obliterating any couple who dares to compare their marriage to theirs or calls their spouse their names or that they loved each other more than the King of the Gods loves His Queen, Goddess of Marriage

i just think it's cute when a strong, level-headed woman puts an equally strong, but emotionally volatile man in his place. idk

Robin has had enough of Brook's shit and lets her boyfriend Franky let loose after blue-balling him twice:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Currently on Thriller Bark arc & it's super fun! Brook is hilarious & I can't wait for him to join the Straw Hats.
As someone who knew a little bit about OP prior to actually watching it, I love the tidbits of info that become HUGE plot points in the current arc (eg: mentions of haki, the zombie w/ Brook's shadow is from Wano)! We love a telios moment.
I'm kinda sad I didn't watch OP sooner (well tbh the 1000+ episode commitment was daunting), but I'm loving it so far!! If you guys haven't noticed, my fav types of anime involve found family, ridiculously overpowered MCs, and Nakama Power™️ (within reason). Bonus points if there are cute blorbos to ship (FROBIN!!! & ZoSan so far hehe)

Whumperless Whump Event Day 24: Drowning | Rescue Breaths | “Why did you think that was a good idea?!”
OCs: Cicadas (all)
masterlist (for them only)
CW: dubious cpr
@whumperless-whump-event
——
The planet they chanced upon was undoubtedly unnamed, possibly uninhabited by things other than flora and fauna. They were the outliers here, no doubt, something that had to either adapt or be killed.
Well, they could skip a few steps. Merely on a trip here to gather something that one of their acquired books had said was nothing short of a miracle, and then they would be gone. It was a pit stop that was more than common to people like them.
Telios had to admit the lake was a natural marvel. It was not the typical colourless-blue, no. There must have been a multitude of corals or something else entirely beneath the surface, painting the entire body of water a wonderful shade of lilac. Clustered around the edges of the lake were the items they were looking for, plant-like transparent objects that swayed even without wind.
“The shade looks kind of like your eyes, doncha’ think?” One of the Cicada’s newer additions remarked, smirking as she looked up at them. Oryizyx, if they recalled correctly.
They jolted, immediately turning away with a curt nod. They hadn’t expected her to speak. It certainly wasn’t the first time she’d attempted to garner a reaction from them, tense as they always were towards her. The young boy beside her smiled at her attempt, however, and they found themself forgiving her for the umpteenth time.
“It’s open enough to keep watch easily. Ship’s a fair distance away, sun's setting. We camp here for the night, I should think,” suggested Kyrai, playing the leader as always.
They had to agree, just like all the others were. They hadn’t yet been here long enough to assess the nighttime conditions accurately, and if their estimations proved right, the nights here were the freezing cold type. All of them ought to prepare. First, head count. One, two, three, four, five…
Someone’s not with them. It took them a moment to figure out who, then another to figure out where. Itaph, crouching by the shore. Itaph, taking a hold on one of the crystal-clear weeds.
The ‘plant’ moved, yanking the teenager back as a fisherman might reel in their catch and pulling them into the lake so quickly that not even a scream escaped his lips. Slowly, the rest of the growths receded from the shore back into the water, as though they were never there to begin with.
Kyrai was running without a second to spare, unsheathing their weapon and diving in. The waters were no longer still, ripples blooming as some unwitnessed battle unfolded. Telios could tell that a vast majority of the rest wanted to join in. Zyx was already leaning forward in a pose that could only mean anticipation, Lotti clearly also contemplating.
What should they do? Zyx clearly didn’t like them, and there was no reason why he wouldn’t kill them right then and there, and Lotti was smart enough to not do something dumb, and, and— and they trusted Kyrai’s ability to come back alive.
Because they knew the other’s strengths, and swimming was one of them. No matter how much they didn’t like speaking up, they had to. Trust was the foundation of everything, like how water was essential for survival.
Not that they didn’t betray that before. No amount of repentance could have undone their sins, but right now, words must have counted for something as Telios put a hand forward to stop them.
——
Kyrai surfaced with a gasp after what felt like forever, coughing wildly as they dragged Itaph’s limp body onto the ground, water soaking their scratched-up clothes. “Safe,” they choked out, “thing’s dead. Kept trying to drag the both of us deeper, I had to.”
“Hope it stays dead. It was either the medic or it, anyway. I think I care about our lives more, thank you very much.”
“Shut up and help me, Oryizyx. You too, Aelyeau.” The familiarly monotone voice of Lotti chimed in, taking off her bag and throwing anything unneeded at the general direction of the other two without a single care in the world. Aelya, as though receiving some divine revelation, snapped out of his thoughts and got to work.
Back to the main concern here.
Telios, thankfully, was more knowledgeable than them on the process that actually happened after rescuing a half-dead person. They pressed down on Itaph’s chest in continuous rhythm, muttering something that Kyrai could only assume were numbers in their native language.
Their hand on Itaph’s nose seemed to prevent air from entering or exiting it. Telios was leaning in to put their mouth on his and doing…magic? Not quite, Itaph’s chest was rising at the same time as the action, so probably giving air. It seemed to be working. Hopefully.
They should really have paid attention during that singular first-aid lesson some kind soul bothered to give to a being like them, even if they knew they’d never get close enough to anyone to even attempt that. Were all their body parts in the same place as well? It felt quite odd to have a universal technique for most species, but not all.
No point thinking about that. If it worked, then it worked, and if it didn’t, adapt. That was how any of them lived.
Even if Kyrai hadn’t known how to help, it was clear that Telios was slowing down, as miniscule as it was. They were inhaling and exhaling heavily, barely able to get a full rescue breath in between all the chest compressions. Tired, they realised.
“Can I take over? How fast do I need to go?” Kyrai asked, moving forward to stand beside Telios, admittedly a little unsure. They shifted a little to the side in response.
“Don’t worry, I can count for you. Compress… hmm, a third of the chest in. Three, two, move— One, two, three, four, one— mhm.”
They reckon they were holding their own breath themself when Itaph coughed, water trickling down their lips. Telios rolled him onto his side, still panting from their efforts.
It worked. Despite their lack of expertise, it somehow worked.
They hadn’t even noticed the others gathering around them, all with varying expressions. Aelya all but threw himself onto Itaph together with the blankets, not letting go even after. Yet another oddity to them, but at least nobody was hurt.
“Aelyeau, change of clothes first before the blanket, remember? Are you feeling alright?” Lotti inquired, a bundle of cloth in her hand.
“I’m okay, you didn’t need to—”
“—Load of shit you are. Little mousey over there tried their best and now you want to throw yourself into the lake once more, don’t you—”
“I never said that, stop putting words in my mouth—”
“And you, kitten, why did you think that was oh so good of an idea to go that close—”
“The lot of you, shut it! Especially you, Oryi, especially you!” Everyone quieted down not a second after Aelya instructed them to, leaving only breaths and the faint call of an animal somewhere beyond. “Thank you. Telios wanted to say something…?”
At the sudden attention, Telios buried their face into the bandana on their neck, voice a little muffled as they spoke.
“It’s not over yet, night’s going to arrive and he’s at high risk of hypothermia and I can’t remember what but a lot of things might happen after that, so—! We should. Still pay very close attention. Yes, um…”
They trailed off, leaving silence in their stead once again. Kyrai couldn’t recall when they had ever said that many words in one stretch. Telios didn’t look like they would do that again, already squatting on the floor and burying their head between their knees.
They should really talk about that someday, it was getting a little unreasonable. It was true, so why be so nervous about it? Though, they doubted the other would tell them that easily.
The two suns of this place, one big and one small, were already falling behind the treetops, the otherwise vibrant scenery slowly turning to darkness. Though they weren’t too affected, they noticed Zyx shivering in the corner of their eye, Itaph following suit as though it were some chain reaction.
Night was coming, and with that came danger and uncertainty. If the waters could hide such a monstrosity, the creatures on land would be similar, nature’s persistent efforts to chase them out. By themself, it had always been decently alright.
They weren’t so sure it would be the same with others, especially with some they couldn’t yet trust.

Hi, after considering and consulting my schedule, it became clear that updating it on time was going to be difficult, so I worked very hard to please you and not stress myself out any further.
So here's an update. (It's not an even day here, but it must be somewhere in the world).
You're still being held captive by enemies, with only Telio as an ally. What happens now? Find out here.

Will you ever do any more comics about your WoL? I loved reading them, and while I've given up my dream of being a comic artist, I still love to read them
Hi there!! Honestly, in the immediate future, not very likely as I've been pushing extremely hard to focus on my visual identity as an illustrator to get into Illustration fairs lately.
But that doesn't mean I don't want to! It's mostly because I've fallen off ffxiv (as one does with fandoms occasionally!) I suspect Dawntrail would reignite some ideas within me and draw more.
Also, a lot of my WoL Telios comics were drawn when I was working a stable 9 to 5 job, so drawing them were my hobbies outside of work. Since going full-time freelance, I've had less time to think about doing them; ; I do want to draw more! But this year I am pushing very hard on a few fronts in my work, so that has to be put on the back burner.
Also OP, art is a long, lonely, and tiring journey. I know more than anyone how exhaustive and draining it is. "Do what you love and you never work a day in your life" is simply untrue. It ends up warping what you love into work and makes it hard to draw that line between what is work and what is enjoyment.
I hope you find that spark to create comics again, not for work or for anyone, but for yourself primarily first and foremost. Find like-minded folks to draw with, read comics that make you *feel* alive again. For me that has been "Frieren" and "Dungeon Meshi".
Art will and always will be subjective, it's shaped by each unique person and their background and upbringing. So I cannot say what it is to you or what you can or should do. That would be hubris and ego on my part. This is why I believe teaching art is always so difficult especially in big class settings, because of varying views and ways of appreciation for it. I hope you find what you need to find that sparkl again anon.
All my love!

This is my latest project, the Fougère Overshirt from Deer&Doe. Believe or not, this was a bit of a palette cleansing project for me. I love the more technical details of a button up shirt (the straight lines! the top stitching!), and because this is an overshirt I didn’t have to worry an iota about fit adjustments.
I also adore this fabric. It’s the Telio viscose/linen slub that all the indie shops seem to carry but name something different. It’s nice and heavy like a linen but it’s got the beautiful drape of a rayon. This particular fabric is from Core Fabrics, a birthday present from my dear husband, and I liked it so much that I’ve already ordered more in the same color to make a matching pair of Genêt Shorts.
Tumblr media
So what’s fun about this pattern? There is an abundance of button ups on the pattern market, but there are a few things I find particularly compelling about Fougère:
1. That curved hem! Seriously, the hem is beautiful, and is finished with a facing so it’s relatively easy to achieve a nice result. I’ve sewn the Melilot blouse before, which also features a dramatic hem shape—but that one is not faced and is considerably more challenging to sew. The downside to this method is that serged edges of the facing are visible on the inside of the shirt, so you may want to take extra care matching your thread here. I had fun with it and decided to try out my new “pastel sprinkles” serger thread.
2. The three piece sleeve construction. Unfortunately this is a detail I didn’t manage to get a great photo of (too much drape!), but it certainly was fun to sew! Any excuse to top stitch is a good one IMO, and it also meant that these sleeves feature a “vent” rather than a true placket. Like the hem facing, I found the vent quite a bit easier to sew than a true placket and I very much enjoyed trying a new technique. I do find that the vent wants to gape open, but I think this is because my fabric has so much drape. It’s nothing a small pair of buttons (once I find some) can’t fix.
3. The dropped armholes. I think it’s more obvious in Version B (the cinched jacket view), but since this pattern is intended as an overshirt it features a lower armhole depth to make wearing it over other garments that much easier. Perhaps not what you want in a standard button-up, but for an overshirt/jacket it’s a nice touch.
Tumblr media
Of course, you can feel free to take all of this with a grain of salt—I am obligated to mention that Deer&Doe is one of my freelance clients, so I am definitely not an unbiased reviewer. But my sewing time is limited, I have no obligations to make or review this pattern, and given how much time I spend on sewing Instagram and Reddit—I consider myself pretty well-versed on what’s available in the market right now. Which is all to say, I have one short and precious life, and I’m not going to spend it sewing patterns I don’t want to, damnit.
The Details:
Fabric: Textured Viscose Linen from Core Fabrics
Pattern: Fougère Overshirt from Deer&Doe
Size: 38, View A
Adjustments: None
Total Cost: $51
$40 for the fabric (2.5 yards)
$0 for the pattern (approx. $14 USD to purchase)
$1.40 for Dritz button kit
$3 for matching thread
$6.50 for fancy serger thread

Writing Prompt #5—The Last Time He Saw Her
This prompt was conceived from another random journal prompt I pulled off the internet. I won't say it now because I would hate to give any context that would ruin the surprise below but, it is clear to me there are certain emotions I like writing in. I wonder what that says about me! This is a brand new character I had started to create after Jason, my supportive husband, read my Ellius/William entry; we were playing a new video game and he named his character Aullius. "You know, like if Ellius had a brother!" It made me stupidly happy that not only was he thinking about Ellius days after he read that entry but, he loved him enough to think..."what if he had a brother." So, while his name isn't Aullius, this character was inspired by the thought. To be clear, this character is not related to Ellius but they do exist in the same world and who knows, maybe one day they'll cross paths. Then again, we can't have two beautiful men in the same story, it would just be too much of a good thing. Enjoy Aurelian here, who knows where else we'll find him.
Aurelian was a man of the sea. A man with great aspirations and a noble heart. The city from which he hailed was smaller than the rest, but its value was paramount. Telios, the only realm of its kind, placed upon the vast and unexplored sea; it served as the main importer of fish and thus caused many other cities to sign trading agreements in order to feast upon the savory salted fish and other delicacies of the sea. Aurelian was of noble blood, son to the Archduke of Telios—Cedric Swyer. The boy was raised upon the wooden deck of his father’s ships, with men as strong as the wind that howled through their sails. As a babe, Aurelian wished for nothing more than to be upon the battlefield like the knights that occasionally paraded through the streets of their city. The Teliosi had no formal knighthood, a guard perhaps, that watched the borders of their town and meandered through the streets at night on the lookout for thieves or mischievous travelers. Aurelian looked at those men and scrunched his nose, they paled in comparison to the men who visited their home, clad from head to toe in the most dazzling suits of armor, with swords as big as he! How he wished to don the tabard of his home, to fly the crest of his family upon a flag he held as he stormed the meadows of an enemy kingdom!
As he grew, Aurelian cared not for the politics of trade and often snubbed his father’s attempts at teaching him “the business.” Instead, his thirst for adventure led him to stow away on boats only to appear once the vessel had lost sight of the shores. The men aboard could not deny the use of a pair of young hands and the young man did not work against his will, he was eager to take up rope and heave the mighty blue sails open. Sometimes, Aurelian would gaze up at them, the azure hues of his eyes as stormy and deep as the waters that churned beneath them. The thickly embroidered anchor, a striking white against the darker color stood out even in the mightiest of storms. Aurelian’s young mind wandered, making up stories of how other passing vessels—the few there were, probably ran in fear of their brilliant sails! The men around him would laugh to themselves.
“Ah yes my boy, there is no greater threat upon the sea than our mighty fishing ships!” They would play into Aurelian’s imagination and only added fuel to his dreams.
Whenever Aurelian would return home, he knew what waited for him upon the docks that housed their ships. The Archduke himself would stand with arms crossed and a booted foot tapping upon the ground as he sighed and shook his head. The crew would apologize deeply, but the Archduke never blamed them—only his unruly son.
“What example are you setting for the rest of the nobility in this city hm?” His father grabbed at the back of his shirt, carrying him like a feral cat at the nape of his neck. “For your sister!” He would carry on. The youngest Swyer, the beautiful Amelia, looked so much like Aurelian they could have been twins if not for the difference in age. In the privacy of their own chambers, Amelia would question her brother endlessly.
“What sorts of fish did you see? Were there any storms? How about pirates!” The young girl craved the open waters as much as her brother after hearing how emphatically he spoke about them. It was as if he was privy to some magical land, she had yet to be invited to. Amelia would sit before him, nodding in excitement as he described another fishing vessel they had passed, with gorgeous burgundy sails and a golden lion emblazoned upon them. “Hilyon!” She exclaimed, only for her brother to laugh.
“Yes, of course! Oh, what I would not give to have been born there. Fishing ships and a prestigious knighthood.”
“You could be a knight and a fisherman!” Amelia clapped her hands, feeding off the energy between them as they laughed and dreamed until they fell asleep before the roaring fireplace.
Their talks often went in such a way after Aurelian was dragged back home after one of his grand adventures. One morning, when he was plotting another escape, he warned Amelia of his plans—something he did not often do but, he needed help in distracting his father. With each passing day, he grew more and more strict, watchful of Aurelian’s every move. Enthusiastic to be involved, Amelia bowed her head in and listened to his instructions. By midday, Aurelian’s plan was set into action, and away he flew toward the docks the moment his father’s attention was elsewhere, with his sister. Just as his feet were about to hit the familiar creaking planks of the harbor, he was stopped. The person who spoke with him was not altogether known but the features of their face were reminiscent. Aurelian stood, anxious to leave but he participated in the idle chat. It was just another fellow looking to get word to the Archduke about…something…a new type of fishhook? Aurelian was not paying attention, his eyes followed the blue sails that began to move; it was not the wind that shook them no, they were leaving!
“So sorry, please excuse me, sir!” The young boy exclaimed as he took off, feet thundering upon the docks as he tried to make for the ship before it swam out too far. Aurelian almost jumped out into the water but, they were too far gone already. “Gah!” Aurelian slapped his thigh and leaned forward, hands resting on either leg as he panted and hung his head.
“Aurelian!” His head popped up at the faraway voice. “Brother!” Aurelian beheld the sight of Amelia upon the boat, waving her arms and dancing in a circle as she giggled. That laugh echoed over the waters, sloshing up against the pier with the waves and sinking into Aurelian’s heart.
“Amelia!” Aurelian was not sure what seized him, but his throat was tight and his chest heavy. “Come back here right now!” He screamed, praying that the breeze carried his words to her.
“I’m going on an adventure to see the Hilyon ships! To brave the storms!” The young one was found shortly by one of the crew, but the ship was too large to turn with ease. It would set them back in time and they would miss the ideal conditions for their trip. Amelia would stay aboard. Aurelian sunk to his knees, sitting back upon his heels as he watched the ship fade away, a sickening feeling crawling up his spine.
The boy would have waited there for days if not for his father. The Archduke appeared at dusk.
“I’ve been looking all over for you Aurelian,” he sighed, exasperated. “Is your sister not with you? She has been missing all day!” When he received no response and saw the way Aurelian sat, solid, unmoving, the Archduke followed his gaze out to sea. The sky. It was dark, not simply because the sun was beginning to set, black clouds had formed and begun to swell with the tide. “Aurelian,” his father breathed, beginning to realize—hoping he was wrong. “Aurelian!” The Archduke grabbed his son’s shoulders, pulled up to his feet, and clutched his shirt at the front. “Tell me where Amelia is!”
Aurelian could not find the words. Tears welled in his eyes and his lips hung open in fear. Rain began to drip down, the sky opening seam by seam. The Archduke pulled Aurelian into his chest and held him tightly as he gazed out to sea.
That was the last time he saw her.
The Teliosi ship never returned. Days later another ship was sent out and after days of searching, a single torn sail was recovered along with the floating remnants of wood, splintered and broken. Aurelian and his father both waited at the harbor and when the men returned and placed the pieces of wood, wrapped within the ragged sail into Cedric Swyer’s arms, they both stood silently. His father never said a word, never blamed Aurelian but he felt the heaviness of his own influence. Guilt crushed him into the dirt and ate at his bones.
Aurelian would not sail again, not until the sting of loss left him. As he stood there, staring at the sea as if she might be kind or playing a joke upon them—he knew the ache would never leave, with each passing day it would seep further into his bones until it consumed him. Perhaps that was the future he deserved, his eternal punishment.

The familiar weightlessness of takeoff and a commotion outside woke Itaph with a jolt. He hadn’t expected this outcome, had meant to hide and leave after to go back to training or some other task. Not this. How had he slept through the entire departure sequence?
He exited his hiding spot, walking through the corridors and peeking inside the room the noise originated from. The two people were at odds, certainly, a third silhouette slumped on the floor and blocked from view, unmoving.
The first was a species he had never seen before, unmistakably circular ears and hind legs prominent even with his poor line of sight. The other was much taller, too-large horns perhaps stranger than their other Haryen-typical traits, wings stretched out and flapping almost nervously, like a bird about to take flight.
“I checked the controls,” the first one said, sounding a little more skittish than their body betrayed, “The ship’s on autopilot to the Yoltian System, if I’m recalling correctly. I can’t turn it off, I…don’t know how. How’s your progress?”
No response, apart from a small shake of the head and the shifting of metal. Now that he thought about it, he only heard one voice from the ship.
He knew what their destination was. The autopilot service of the current ship he was on, as he recalled from hearsay, wasn’t advanced enough to navigate all the way there without issue. There was only one outcome. He supposed the two others knew as well, which was why they were focused on trying to…do whatever it was they were doing now.
The stranger’s ears twitched, and when they spoke up again, all his thoughts abruptly blanked out. “Show yourself. I know you’re there. We’re stuck here together, anyway, don’t be shy.”
The one working lifted their head and followed suit, turning towards the door. No more point in hiding, then. Itaph took a firm step into the room, eyes glancing about. Cargo room, most likely, given the amount of hastily opened crates stacked around.
An awkward quietness filled the room. He broke the silence first, a part of him inclined to do so.
“My name is Itaph’ri…just that. No last name. Quick introductions, first. Before you explain all that happened while I was asleep.” He clenched and unclenched his fists, waiting for an answer.
“Kyrai’is Quai’i. But don’t bother pronouncing that, people call me Kyrai. And this here is…I don’t know. They haven’t spoken a single word to me yet—”
“—T-Telios.”
“You talk? Revelation of the year, T-telios. Truly.” A certain sort of authenticity was present in Kyrai’s tone. The other’s shoulder seemed to slump a little more at the greeting, returning back to their task. Kyrai didn't appear to notice.
“I…think their name is just Telios.” Itaph took a step forward, possibly a little too curious at what they were both looking at.
Kyrai’s eyes widened, some realisation coming to their mind. “Whoops. It’s a little common where I was from for that kind of name. Anyways. You seen a toolbox anywhere?”
A toolbox? Only now did his mind adjust to what exactly he was looking at. The mess of battered machinery in front of them was undeniably humanoid, the opened panel on its body sparking every now and then. Despite all that damage, their fingers were still moving, albeit slowly; some attempt at consciousness.
Alive. And though he wasn’t a mechanic, he was a medic. Close enough, he supposed, to warrant such worry for people he met not even ten minutes ago.
“There was a workshop right beside this room, I saw. Materials should be there. I can go get them.”
He was gone in the next second, boots clunking on the floor as he ran. Though comparatively barren to the ones within the training centre, what the place did have to offer were tools. With one brush of his hand, all the things lying on the table were hastily shoved into a box as he turned a sharp right out of the room.
Itaph shoved the materials into Telios’s hand, watching as their eyes shone when they opened the box, hands no longer trembling uncontrollably. So it did have what they needed. He managed a small not-quite-smile at them, some semblance of comfort in such a forlorn situation, and for a moment his chest swelled with a strange sort of feeling, like that of figuring out how to treat a patient. Then, it was replaced by that familiar, all-consuming homesickness.
No.
He couldn’t give up yet. Even if he was a stowaway, there were still ways to help this small crew, things to do. Firstly, there was no use in either him or Kyrai staying here.
“Come on. We can’t just sit here and wait.”
