Keep hearing people say maribug keep asking adricat if he's ok and he keep saying he's ok instead of telling her his problem but I don't remember it happened more than once in s4 in Rockettear but even then the circumstances of that episode did warrant the "nothing" answer he gave her unless he want to tell her that "nino tell me you let nino and alya know each other identity" which will reveal adricat identity. So when else did she ask? about the thing in hack-san, I think another credit goes to alya since she's the one who bring the topic to maribug who seems to be blissfully unaware that her leaving without telling adeicat that she send subtitute would be a problem.
I didn't get into this side of things in my other post because it was long and I wanted to focus on why Chat Noir's behavior was so frustrating, but this ask brings up the other big reason why the season four conflict was such a frustrating and terribly written plot line. Specifically, the part of your ask where you point out that Maribug seems blissfully unaware that her actions are having a negative impact on Chat Noir until someone points it out to her.
Yes, she is presented as blissfully unaware of this and every other interpersonal conflict we're given in season four. Your ask treats this as a failing on Maribug's part as if she should have obviously realized that she was in the wrong, but that's the whole problem. Telling kids - telling anyone really - that they should just magically know what others need is a frankly terrible life lesson as that's just not how the world works. You cannot just assume that everyone will have the same view of the world as you do and instantly pick up on the same issues as you do. That is the path to easily avoidable frustration and conflict. It also teaches people to assume that their view of the world is inherently correct when that is rarely the case. We often don't know the whole story and the other person's point of view may end up being equally or even more valid. This issue is extremely present in season four as Marinette has legitimate reasons to behave the way she does, which I'll get into in a bit.
If Marinette were written as feeling guilty about how she was treating Chat Noir, then this would be a different story. She'd be way more in the wrong and would shoulder a much greater portion of the blame. But as is? She has no idea that she's doing anything wrong. And until someone takes the time to tell her that her actions are causing harm, she is going to continue causing harm because she has no idea that she's causing harm.
In fact, I'd argue that the Alya thing in Hack San is a point in Maribug's favor. Throughout the episode, we see Marinette sending Alya messages on ways to be a good partner to Chat Noir, proving that she does in fact care about him. And then, as soon as Alya says, "You need to talk to Chat Noir," what does Maribug do?
She goes and talks to Chat Noir, giving him a pretty good apology for the problem she now knows she caused. Because, shockingly, Maribug doesn't actually want to hurt her partner. She also clearly cares about his feelings, making me want to take the season four conflict and tear it into itty bitty pieces because what is the conflict even supposed to be when you write shit like this?
I want to briefly step away from Miraculous and talk about this issue in a broader context via this YouTube short:
This short is from a Vietnamese woman who moved to Germany. Her YouTube channel is about her experiences there, including things like the short above which goes into the differences between what it means to be a dinner guest in Vietnam and what it means to be a dinner guest in Germany. In Vietnam, it's apparently standard for the guests to cook dinner with you where as, in Germany, you're expected to have the meal ready when the guests arrive, making this a situation where it's super easy to come across as rude just by doing what you think is normal.
Society is relatively aware that these types of culture clashes are a thing, but you don't have to be from different cultures to have these types of situations. Every person has their own unique needs and ideas of what "normal" is. The culture they were raised in will affect this, but so will their family, their personal needs, and many other factors. Two people can be raised on the same street and wind up with wildly different world views even though they supposedly share a culture. This is extra true when you add in compounding factors like neurodiversity, which is why it's an exercise in futility to say, "But Maribug should have realized..."
Well, she clearly didn't. And you can't change that she didn't realize whatever you're mad about. All you can do is have someone tell her what she's doing wrong. If she then continues the behavior, go ahead and judge away. But if she immediately corrects it like she did in Hack San? Doesn't that just prove that she truly didn't know that Chat Noir was hurting and would have probably fixed all of his problems if someone just pointed them out to her?
This is only exacerbated by the fact that Marinette's behavior in season four is largely unchanged from her behavior in previous seasons. The only major change is that she revealed her identity to Alya, but as soon as that's pointed out as a problem, she course corrects with an apology. After that, she thinks that everything is okay because why wouldn't she? Chat Noir said it was fine and everything else has been business as usual.
Bringing temp heroes into help as needed? That's been going on since season two. Having these additional members has been vital in multiple battles and there have been plenty of times where Chat Noir took a background role to the temp hero of the day like in Sapotis, Rena Rouge's season two debut. So why would Maribug suddenly think that this dynamic is a problem when it's been working fine for so long? We even had a whole episode about how Chat Noir was still needed in spite of the new heroes back in season three! Or, at least, I think that was Desperada's message? This show is shockingly bad at giving clear lessons.
Keeping guardian knowledge from Chat Noir? That's also been going on since season two and was even treated as a conflict that supposedly got resolved in the episode Syren which was the episode that ended with Master Fu coming to the mansion to talk to Adrien after everything was over.
When I watched that episode, I assumed this meant that Chat Noir was going to be more involved in things like picking the temp heroes. I actually thought this was how we were going to get Queen Bee because I knew she was going to be a thing, but it made no sense for Marinette to pick Chloe for a miraculous. Of course, I was wrong. Nothing changed after Syren. Chat Noir remained nothing more than the comic relief while Ladybug got all the insider info.
To be clear, I think that was a terrible move writing wise, but it doesn't change the fact that this is what they went with. This is the established dynamic. I can't even say that Alya learning Marinette's secret led to something new. She's just taken Marinette's old role while Marinette has taken on Master Fu's old role. This show loves it's status quo and Chat Noir has been at least tolerant of that status quo since Syren, so it's not surprising that Maribug doesn't register that this is a thing that should change and no one bothers to point it out to her even though she has a mentor in Tikki (and Su Han, I guess?) and a confidant in Alya and a whole slew of Kwamis who could also provide insight if they were allowed to do that sort of thing. (Sass and Wayzz were robbed of mentor roles.) Additional blame goes to Plagg because he should absolutely have told Adrien to talk to Ladybug. What is the point of giving these characters mentors who never mentor? It's aggravating in the extreme.
To circle back to the first part of your ask, outside of Hack San and Rocketear, I don't think there are any times when Ladybug invites feedback from Chat Noir unless you want to give credit to the end of Kuro Neko:
Cat Noir: (lands next to her) I've been a really temperamental kitty, m'lady. I didn't realize how much trouble I'd make for you by giving back my Miraculous. Ladybug: (sits closer to him) Just because I don't need you all the time doesn't mean that I don't need you at all, Cat Noir. No one could ever replace you.
Which isn't Maribug inviting him to tell her what's up, but she is clearly willing to listen to him and reassure him, further backing up my point about this conflict being some of the worst writing I've ever had to suffer through. If Maribug always fixes the issue as soon as she learns about it, you are not writing a situation where she's clearly in the wrong. You are writing an easily solved communication issue where she gets blamed for something she clearly doesn't realize she's doing wrong and it is so frustrating!!! I feel so bad for her. The next episode is Penalteam, btw, which starts the battle with this gem:
Ladybug: (laughs) Nice scare tactics, but it's not gonna work. Cat Noir and I are the best at soccer! Cat Noir: (Whispers to Ladybug) I don't know a thing about soccer M'lady. Maybe it's time to call the real team?
And basically just spends the whole episode making Chat Noir seems like a worthless partner while Maribug tries her best to make him - and everyone else - feel special.
Oh, and the episode before Kuro Neko? Well, it's technically Ephemeral, but that got magically overwritten so let's go one further back and we get to Dearest Family, which ends with this:
Cat Noir: (grabs a golden paper crown on the coffee table) Since I'm the king, (wears the crown on his head) would you be my queen, Ladybug? Ladybug: With pleasure, kitty cat! Tradition is tradition!
Oh yes, these two are in such conflict and Maribug does nothing to validate Chat Noir. He's in pain every episode and she's just totally oblivious to it.
If that was what they wrote, then I'd probably agree that we needed more instances of her asking if Chat Noir was okay. But it's not what they wrote. If you look through the list of season four episodes, you'll find that less than half of them deal with the supposed conflict of the season (by my count, only 8 of the 24 episodes before the final actually showcase the conflict and they are not in a logical order in terms of escalation as I tried to demonstrate above). The rest of the episodes flat out ignore it or even straight up work against the conflict like when Ladybug says this to Chat Noir in Guilttrip: "I probably don't tell you this enough, but I couldn't do this without you. And it'd be a lot less fun too."
Seriously, what even is this season? What is the conflict supposed to be? Because it sure as shit isn't Maribug undervaluing Chat Noir, if memory servers, season four sees her validate him more times than any other season. And it isn't her guiltily hiding things from him like so many fanfics claim because we have multiple points of evidence that prove that she's completely oblivious that there even is a conflict. So what conflict are the writers actually trying to write?
What's even more baffling is that none of this logically leads to the loss at the end of the season:
Maribug's new secrets didn't lead to her downfall. The only reason she lost was because of the secret that's always been there - a fact that's never revealed to her - and a freaking evil twin! So why did it matter that Maribug was keeping secrets? This is made even worse by season five maintaining all of the secrets, once again begging the question of what lesson were we trying to teach here???
Chat Noir wasn't needed for the final fight of the season, Maribug only needed the powers of a few of the temp heroes to win, a baffling ending to a season whose focus was Chat Noir feeling unimportant. You could scrap that conflict entirely and the ending would not change. In fact....
Adrien quitting to be nothing more than a good little boy who obeys his father would have actually saved the world from eventually being rewritten. If you think about it, the season four final actually punishes Adrien for being defiant. So does season five as, if Chat Noir had quit, his father would still be alive. I thought this show was supposed to be a romcom, not a tragedy. Why is Adrien being punished for being a hero? Is this supposed to be karma for lying to Ladybug with the whole Catwalker thing?
This shit is why I say I'm a writing salt, character sugar blog. I can't get mad at the characters when they're in such a nonsense story where things never logically tie together. They all deserve so much better.
None of this is meant to imply that ignorance is a blanket excuse for hurting others. Nor is it meant to imply that you have to forgive someone who hurt you just because they didn't mean to. There's a ton of nuance around these topics. But season four acknowledges none of that nuance while creating a situation that desperately needed nuance because there was no clear right and wrong here. Should Maribug work to be more aware of others feelings? Sure, but that journey can only start after she's made aware of her faults and no one ever points them out to her. Does Chat Noir need to work on clearly communicating his needs? Desperately, but no one is teaching him that lesson so he remains a terrible communicator who suffers in silence. What impressively bad writing.
#ml writing critical#ml writing salt#adrien deserves better#marinette deserves better#kuro neko salt#my queendom for some good character arcs#and good story arcs#there's just so much squandered potential here#ml fandom salt#ml fandom critical#Adding those tags because I am sick of people holding Marinette to unrealistic expectations#This was long so I didn't add this part of the rant but:#It's important to remember how much we know as an audience vs what Maribug knows#Adrichat is really good at putting up a front that everything is fine#And Marinette knows nothing about his homelife when he's Chat Noir#Plus the show has made this kids kinda terrible at understanding Adrien's home life

House of the Dragon was built to fail
Which the greatest shame of that is, I truly believe they got an incredible cast of talented actors, it's distressing to see them largely wasted. I've been an HBO fan (in a Stockholm kind of way) for the better part of two decades and even some of their usual pitfalls were accelerated here. While it's easy to just blame Ryan (5 spits for an enemy Condall) it still feels like there's more than just writing or directing so this post won't focus as much on the characterization follies but more on the story's infrastructure. While budgetary concerns with a show like this are obvious considering the dragons cost a great deal of time and money it is odd to me that this is a series rather than a mini-series. By that I mean, HBO for most of their big productions had seasons ranging from 10-15 episodes (Sopranos S1 13 episodes, True Blood S1 12 episodes, The Wire S1 13 episodes, etc) so this is exceptionally short of a season for House of the Dragon. Game of Thrones original run was largely a 10 episode format until the later seasons which were also notably shit.
This structure was never designed to give the characters or an audience time to breathe. While this is something that is continually brought up across the cinema/film community these days it seems especially important here. It also seems very easy for an audience to decide against investing time and energy into a series that only holds you for 8 weeks and then takes another 2-3 years of production. As most of the audience knows, it isn't like there is a shortage of materials for the show to incorporate. It's an active choice to not dive more into the lives and circumstances of these character and their relationships. Now, I'm not expecting Lost 2.0 where every character will get an episodic focal point and backstory. Still, you have plenty of non-dragon riding characters whom you could spend time with that don't require maxing out your VFX budget for. Because as of right now from the posts I've been seeing it's clear that most of the general audience at this point is more invested in the dragons than any human character in the show save for some Stans. I can't say I blame them. Most every character at this point is barely tolerable or straight up deeply unlikeable. That's a failure of the writers and directors explicitly. I think the actors are genuinely doing the best they could with the material they're given.
It's frustrating because while I was expecting this show to disappoint (both because of GoT's outcome and HBO's late game losing streak shout out to True Blood for getting so bad I never watched the final episodes) this production is hitting that wall way sooner than expected. If there was another 2-4 episodes to actually develop the characters and their relationships (even with piss poor writing) it might have helped tremendously but this structure is going to leave an audience wanting more and not in a good way. If there is a season 3 I can't imagine in 2 years that a lot of the current viewership would return. So even the "fix it" episode rewrites fans make don't seem like enough, to me you genuinely need more material, more for an audience to invest in or feel a part of. If this season was even 10 episodes there would have been so much room for improvement. The Last of Us was able to deliver a satisfying plot and character arcs with 9 episodes and there's a huge difference with the way that was received by audiences vs. HotD. The obvious difference is the amount of time they needed to tell that story vs. the amount of time you rightly needed to tell this one, which is case in point why HotD needed more time. So, while a short season can deliver satisfaction in some cases, I don’t believe as a rule it should all be common place to condense stories and characters. Especially considering HotD's compression is coming largely at the expense of the women in the show (Rhaena, Jeyne Arryn, Helaena, Nettles, Rhaenrya and Alicent's respective character assassination, etc). That's to say even if these character plots deviate from the canon they have the room to grow and develop a character completely to an audience. If you're going to change a character from the source material at least make them a well-developed different person.
#this show had potential to be so great and its completely squandered#There was so much room for many of these characters to be explored and showcased but none of it seems to be of an consequence#they just bum rushed as much as they could to get to the dragon fights and action scenes#house of the dragon#hotd#hotd critical#television#HBO#but that's enough ranting for one morning#but seriously what are they doing with Rhaena and Helaena#Could we have gotten time with these girlies at all???#And what the fuck is up with Jeyne Arryn I cannot stand her in this series rn

My own personal hell is longform media that has a fascinating side character that has ALL the potential but is just HORRENDOUSLY mishandled by the writing. Meanwhile the rest of the writing is also deeply mid without any underlying potential but the side character's arc only really works as a SIDE plot and relies on the main plot still happening.
So you can't even really write a fix-it fic without putting in WAY more effort than the source material is worth. You just have to sit with the knowledge that this side plot could absolutely fuck... if you could only commit yourself to overhauling an entire TV show you barely care about.
#this post is about Fate: The Winx Saga#Musa specifically#I cannot tell you how much I would love a well handled “being an empath actually sucks in varrious ways” plot#there was so much there but they just bungle it every time :')#and I know Bloom's main plot could also be better but I just don't care enough to actually work on that#I'm just stuck here#thinking about it periodically#wondering if I want to use it in some other way. come up with my own story for it#but the things that would make it work are tied into the surrounding lore#*cries forever*#vent post#echo scrambles#fate the winx saga salt#honestly almost every character in this show had squandered potential but what else is new?#this is just how they make teen shows now -_-

My current job I work on average 5.5 hours a day and you know what? I think that's the perfect amount of time to work. I have plenty of time for my hobbies while also staying on top of the housework and I'd probably have time for a social life if I wanted one (I don't lmao I'm happy just chilling on tumblr), but having a job also gives me structure and a feeling of contributing to society. I think everyone should have a work week that looks like mine. 9-5 5 days a week/grind culture is bullshit and it's tragic that it's become the accepted standard pretty much worldwide.
#actually a lot of my colleagues complain they're bored#one of them even asked me for info about teaching online bc she wanted to work *more*#the notion that nobody wants to work is nonsense#people want to work they just don't want to pour all their time and energy into just scraping by#feeling like they have to earn their place in the world#and honestly i think we could have a society like that#where everyone works half days#morning people do the morning shift and night people do the afternoon/evening shift#you know how people talk about not cleaning up after themselves bc it's 'creating jobs'?#what if we all cleaned up after ourselves and didn't need those people to clean up after us and they could assist teachers instead?#society has so much potential and capitalism squanders it honestly#not languages#just rambling

They should've just let Jason be a part of the rogues gallery
#i'm not main tagging this#HE WAS NOT AN “ANTIHERO” IN UNDER THE RED HOOD HE WAS NOT MEANT TO BE IN ANY WAY CORRECT#(B is also pretty wrong in that plotline but that's. a symptom of batman writers assuming B is the default morally correct choice)#(not the point here)#the Batman rogues gallery is all at their core made up of foils to Batman. they're all meant to challenge his morals and his beliefs#on like a thematic level#sorry I'm a freak who believes in the themes of Batman#AND YOU KNOW WHO'S ENTIRE POINT FOR BEING BROUGHT BACK IS TO BE A MORAL AND THEMATIC FOIL FOR BATMAN#(and more importantly I'd argue *for Bruce Wayne*)#(no seriously I will genuinely argue that Jason-as-Red-Hood is compelling specifically bc he's not just a challenge to *Batman's* core#beliefs and themes#but also *Bruce Wayne's* core beliefs and themes#but to do that I'd have to talk way more about how I choose to analyze the thematic core of Batman way more then I'm willing to do in tags)#I love Jason I love Jason so much I have since I was a child he is literally the reason I developed a special interest in Batman as a kid#however I am one of the minority that *doesn't want to see Jason reunited with the batfamily*#I think he is his strongest as an openly antagonistic figure and I think they completely squandered the potential he had when they started#with this whole “lets make Jason an antihero and have him reintegrate into the family”#*thing I forgot the word thing at the end#there was stories you could tell with him but they don't work if he's suddenly buddy buddy with the family#and they clearly don't know what the fuck to do with him and haven't for like over 15 years IF I'M BEING GENEROUS#I'd say really they haven't known what the fuck to do with him since after utrh itself tbh#okay tag rant over I could do this forever if I don't stop here#is there a max out limit on tags actually????

I get that they probably are trying to make the gigantic robot lizard as unscary as possible but who's idea was it to give the alligator fuzzy fleece skin
There isn't a closeup where it's still enough to be sure but that sure looks like puppet/mascot suit fleece to me.
Also since I'm here it looks cool without its skin
Imagineer for scale
#I'm finding out about princess and the frog ride stuff late#im not sure it's fleece but like. they made the crocodile guy fuzzy#it doesn't look like it's even stretching all that good its moving like it has a fabric skin#did the rubber they made ursula out of not age well or what#makes more sense to me to stamp scale texture into a rubber skin than to like. make it look like a giant stuffed animal.#plus it would like. bend and stretch in ways that fabric doesnt#like the way skin does#like the way the skin of the other characters they showed did#it's like. someone somewhere said 'make sure the animatronic looks exactly like the costume' so they had to commit to that#I'm impressed with literally every other part of this figure is why I'm so focused on the skin#would be nice if the eyebrow shapes on top of the eyes moved even a little bit but that's a nitpick all else considered#i will also say that i am impressed specifically by the hand poses they chose#i dont think this figure's fingers articulate at all but the pose they put it in makes it really difficult to tell as it moves and rotates#maybe they arent even final skins who knows#so much about this works so well its sort of weird to me how the skin stands out#i didn't mention the articulated stomach panel#i appreciate that they gave him dedicated gut motors to make squash and stretch happen#but it also makes me wonder why they didnt give that eyemask shape around his eyes any movement. the whole thing could squish up or down.#tons of expressive potential squandered

Sometimes I am reminded that For Honor can be both the most fun shit in the world and also the most viscerally unfun thing to ever exist in the universe and it depends entirely on who you're fighting and how many of them there are
#Idk what they did to make my favourite event exhausting to play but I'm just grappling with that still#Every time Test your Metal has been around I've been SO excited#like it is without question my favourite event mode#but idk they brought it back again and it just feels so much worse to play now#and I really honestly genuinely have no idea why#because on paper it's basically no different than it used to be#so like#why is it just not fun to me anymore#am I just worse now? did my extended hiatuses from this game make me just bad? Like is it a skill issue?#Is my deep anger and disappointment at the devs' attempts to bleed every cent from people possible just venting through a different outlet?#Is this because of the balance changes they've made to every character in-between now and the last time this event happened#gradually homogenizing the cast into the same orange-or-blue 50/50 guessing game?#Am I realizing that idk if I even actually like playing For Honor most of the time anymore#and just keep playing it because I'm desperately hoping a better game comes along that plays similar#and am just imagining this theoretical other game whenever I play it thinking about the potential it had#that was wholly squandered by making it an always-online live service game that egregiously haggled you for cash at every turn?#I genuinely don't know#all I know is that I'm tired man#I'm just deeply painfully tired#and only partly because it is 6:30am and I haven't slept yet#lmao#Pun's text Posts#for honor

I'm actually rather excited for the upcoming election because of the speculation going around that we might end up with a minority government.
People will make a big fuss of minority governments being chaotic or at the whims of the crossbench, but the Gillard government (our last hung parliament) was actually incredibly productive when judged by the amount of legislation it passed, having the highest of any government in our history (obviously one can question the quality of the legislation, but it at least puts paid to the idea minority governments never get anything done).
A Labor-led minority government might actually make some progress in this country, but even a Liberal-Led one might not be as terrible as the stagnant Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison years. It depends on the numbers (if they're only 1 seat short, its impact will be notable smaller), but having to deal with the crossbench (which is currently made up of a lot of environmentally-conscious MPs) should at least make things a little more interesting, regardless of who's in power.
There are a few main reasons why a minority government is expected:
Previous election results:
The previous election had the lowest percentage of first preference votes going to Labor and the Coalition. Labor is in government after only winning ~33% of the national 1st preference vote, and the Coalition ~32%. That is, about 1/3 Australians voted 1 for someone who wasn't Labor or Coalition. This suggests there's a sense of disenchantment with the major parties and people are willing to vote in minor parties or independents. The 2022 election resulted in the largest crossbench in recent history.
2. Low support for Albanese/Labor:
It's been reported that Albos' preferred PM ratings are slipping, making it increasingly likely he'll lose seats and he is already on a wafer-thin majority of only two seats. There's been a large turn against incumbent parties in elections world-wide, which has largely been attributed to high inflation and high interest rates etc, among other things. Labor is in an awkward position: voters will blame them for the cost of living crisis and they will need to convince them that more of the same will fix things. There's also Albanese's perceived lack of action and many progressive voters are rather unimpressed with his middle-of-the-road-don't-rock-the-boat way of running things.
3. The high bar for the Liberals:
While things look bad for the government, it's not all sunshine for Peter Dutton. The Coalition suffered historic losses in some of its prized electorates to the Teal independents and Dutton is not the sort of leader that could ever really win them back. Electoral boundaries have changed, however, for a lot of seats since 2022 and this muddles things a bit, partly due to those low major party preferences I mentioned earlier. For example, Kylea Tink, a 'Teal' (her colour is really pink to rhyme with her name, but she's often grouped with the Teals) has had her electorate divided amongst three others. There are a lot of seats that could change hands and it is quite possible the Coalition will take some seats off Labor, but while Labor only needs to lose two seats to lose majority, the Coalition needs to gain 18 (we lose a seat in parliament due to redistributions, but the minimum majority would still be 76/150). While those aforementioned polls are showing increases in Dutton's favourability, it is still not particularly high (39%, compared to 34% for Albo in one recent poll for preferred PM).
But yeah, a Labor-led minority government would likely be a lot more ambitious in its reform goals and I am quietly optimistic about that being the results of this election. So if there was ever a time to not put a major party first, it's now.
#australian politics#I was too young to properly appreciate the last hung parliament#I think they're really cool and interesting so I hope to see another one#I will admit personally I'm not really happy with the Greens which is making me reluctant to vote for them#but they do support much better emissions targets so...#my reservations are a long story and to explain it would require saying my electorate#and I'm not saying that#also I am not sold on a lot of their other policies#what I want is 2019 Labor back#I did the ABC voting compass back then and I was like right around the Labor dot#but by 2022 they shifted to the centre leaving me halfway between them and the Greens#admittedly I think I may also have moved a little leftward in my opinions in those three years#but their shift was huge#I want an ambitious Labor party that isn't afraid of real reform#they've done fine this term but I want better than fine#this country has so much potential and we just squander it#Labor needs to stand for something because moderate-right voters aren't going to be impressed with Liberal-lite any more than left-wingers#but what do I know#I'm just some guy who likes to read the paper and keep abreast of politics#feel free to ignore me

#it's the frenemies#since Orion's 10 years younger and grew up in Limsa he ran into him once in a while#He thought the pirate was cool and admirable while Carvallain thought Orion was just a foolish kid who did what his family told him to#it was so obvious to him that Orion suppressed his opinions and dreams because he felt obliged to pay back his dad for raising him#slaving away aimlessly and squandering his potential#but when Carvallain tries to egg him on about it Orion just looks confused like ??? of course I'd sacrifice my potential for my dad???#it peeves Carvallain off bc Orion is an idiot for throwing away his life#and because Orion's dad obviously sacrificed his own dreams for Orion because how else would it be as natural as breathing to his son#imagine having a dad that loves you that much and you still waste your life#meanwhile Orion brushes Carvallain's comments off until like 10 years later when he finally realizes the point he was making#they never talk about it again but Orion secretly hopes Carvallain is proud of him for making something of himself#orion altano#carvallain
