Look all I'm saying is that if I were going to make a minecraft movie.

Well, first off I'd put down the first person to even reccomend we do it in cgi. Not just because it looks objectively terrible and half of the magic and nostalgia factor of minecraft is in its texture but holy shit budget much??? You are literally looking at a situation where the cheaper option is also objectively the better option. What the fuck are you doing

But I mean, after that.

Second off, all my writers must watch popular smps and minecraft roleplays/let's plays to understand the "magic" of the game. That's how we're studying for this, not the game books or whatever. Those guys are clearly doing smthn right, and as the executive/writer who knows very little about mineraft that I am in this hypothetical scenario, I need to do my best to make money. And that means learning what people like about the game and community.

Maybe even bring on some popular (non controversial please god) smp writers for consulting. They literally make minecraft movies as their fucking job, they are the expert u need to consult

Story wise, you NEED to choose if you wanna play this straight or silly. I'm so sick of movies trying to be all emotional and "ohh this world is so beautiful,, if u could only understand,, woaa" with their epic sound track and dramatic lighting, but then the dialogue being ripped out of a stupid marvel knockoff trying too hard to be witty

Anyways. Give me a generic "kid has a hard life and uses [thing] to escape it but then their parent trashes [thing] to teach them a "lesson"" movie.

The thing is minecraft and this kid is totally in love with letsplays and smps and has a server with their online friends (get a sponsorship from discord for that good good film sponsorship money, have them play while in call)

The mom or dad or maybe both trash the kids computer for some reason (bad grades maybe or one of those shitty "you need to talk to us more!!! That computer is killing ur brain!!! You don't love us as much as you should and it's that damn games fault!!!" But like it's actually just a kid being a normal fucking kid and having normal fucking kid hobbies things and the parents are dicks)

They delete the minecraft world rip

Them boom, kid somehow gets stuck in the game

Switch to NON CGI FILMING IN MINECRAFT. If you really need to add your stupid shitty fucking cgi then at least make it look like an ACTUAL MINECRAFT ANIMATION holy shit

It'll save us so much money too

So main plot is this kid, being trapped in minecraft, actually falling through different minecraft servers.

We can have different cameos from popular smps and youtubers, get some old youtubers and gameplay in here too. Get fucking dantdm and the diamond minecarts og series with the lab thing, it'll make the old fans lose their fucking MINDS.

The youtubers themselves don't even have to show up, just shove the kid into settings that are clear references to smps and letsplays. Have them wander through Aphmau's OG minecraft diaries sets or Sundee's lucky block series

The best part is that as backdrops, you don't even have to fully commit to "you'll only get this/find this interesting if you know these guys" bc if your writing is good enough you can still make people care by just. Introducing it correctly. Don't present it as "Aphmau's old minecraft diaries series world" go "oh wow look st this cool village,, woah I wonder who built this ,," And have them interact with NPCs organically

Meanwhile the parents go into the game after the kid to bring them back and we do this whole world hopping adventure where the parents learn that,, minecraft can be fun? Actually?

They find the kid and the kid is like "nooo I'm having too much fun the real world SUCKS!!!" but then we do that "it's cool to have fun and indulge but you still need to be present in the real world and do real people things too in order to have that fun responsibly" where somehow the kid realizes that moderation is good for u.

Maybe they almost die in game fr fr? Every world they enter has its difficulty upped a little bit till they enter *gasp* a hardcore world (oh no)

So like the kid learns that you can't just lock yourself in the room and wish the world goes away while you play minecraft for 12 hours straight, and the parents learn that minecraft is cool and fun and can be a good outlet and outlets are important for adults and children alike. And also that they totally pulled a dick move and they need to try to understand their kid instead of just demanding the kid understands them

Somewhere along the way, the kid ends up in their friends server and the friends help to pull them out of the game w the parents

We end the movie with the kid making an effort to be more present with the parents, and the parents also making an effort to interact with the kid in ways that they know the kid will enjoy and respond well to— shown a family dinner scene where the kid very eagerly eats their food while talking about school, then they all go to play minecraft together

Oh right and if you seriously want Jack Black there so fucking bad then make him either the dad or like. School computer teacher who helps the kid use Minecraft EU to learn science (shows off that some schools use minecraft for education purposes) who also helps the kids friends pull them and the parents out of the game

Overall, lots of themes not just about how the game is cool and can let you do cool shit, but also about how the community is cool, and how it's provided so many kids and adults outlets to express themselves and have fun together

decided to do a small analysis on the remaining candidates of the qsmp elections based on >>my personal opinion<< and whether i would vote on them or not: 

badboyhalo – no. a good candidate, would’ve been one of my first choices because of his extensive knowledge of minecraft/mods & overall experience on smps, but i found his campaign lackluster when it came to actually taking a step forward and taking ownership of his ideas. i really like bad, i think he has great ideas, but i don’t see him taking a leading role because he’s too nice and easily persuaded by the ones around him. (i also don’t want skeppy to be added, but of all the things, this was at the bottom of my list) 

forever – no. just like bad, a good candidate, good knowledge of game mechanics/mods and experience on being part of smps, but once again, i go back to one of the points i said about bad, although hes very proactive and has done a lot for the eggs and the server, he lets his emotions overtake his reasoning, which i don’t see as a good sign for someone who’s gonna be dealing directly with the federation. one threat against richas and forever will be played by the federation like a fiddle. 

mike – one of the people i will be voting for, easily one of the most compelling campaigns. he has good points, and although he likes to indulge in some illegal activities, you can see that he’s not someone that lets his emotions overtake his reasoning, he guides with a purpose and doesn’t let anything come in between what he wants to accomplish. 

felps – nope. love felps to the moon and back, but that man is more worried about his square than anything. let him keep doing his square in peace. 

etoiles – my other vote!! i think it came as a surprise for a lot of people seeing etoiles development during the elections. at the beginning i thought he was just doing it for the bit, based on the fact that he’s very competitive and wanted to dominate the leaderboards. but his extensive research and knowledge is something that the island needs. i would rather someone like etoiles who leads with his head instead of his heart.

THE FULL ILLUSIONIST BACKSTORY, COME AAND GET IT

tldr: Girl died and was so pissed about it she came back as a ghost wayyyy too fast. Someone revived her body without her in it, and she got stuck on the outside. She had to unwillingly watch the soul in her body brain-fog her way through an entire smp - WHAT SHOULD OF BEEN HER second chance - before giving up. Then she figured out how to travel through dimensions, and became really evil about it when she met this cool spider guy and aided in the murder of an entire royal family.

SOME CONTEXT BEFORE I GET INTO IT:

I've vaguely mentioned it before, but many of the characters featured on my YouTube are from role play servers me and my friends created as early as 2020. Naturally, that means most of their writing was improvised, and very little was planned ahead of time. Aine and Illusionist were made for Whispers and Kingdom, respectively. Whispers happened very organically out of a survival minecraft server, so a lot of the decisions about Aine's backstory were made on the fly. Kingdom's creation was a lot more deliberate, but Illusionist was retroactively fitted into Aine's backstory, so she shares the same writing quirks that come from improvised storytelling. ALL OF THAT TO SAY, these characters were made purely for fun. They aren't my best work when it comes to cohesive writing; They're a little convoluted, a little messy, but they were a lot of fun to play, and that was the goal :)

THE GETTING INTO IT:

Way before the events of Whispers, there was a sleepy little town where a young woman named Erena lived. That town was razed in the middle of the night, and she was drowned in a river after being fatally wounded by none other than Amadeus, the Soldier [ jojenis on instagram]. Erena woke up at the bottom of the river, dead. Her soul had died, and she became a vengeful ghost. She was nothing more than the memories of her old life, but she had every intent to come back and return the favor to the monster that killed her. 

Her plans were immediately halted. She watched as a fae  - named Jophiel, the Lover [also jojenis] - picked up her dead body, and brought it to a hidden bunker. Jophiel successfully found Erena's lost soul, but could not return it into the dead and broken body. Instead, she tenderly placed the soul and the body into the roots of the largest surviving tree in the village.

It should have brought Erena back to her body, but the spell was incomplete. Jophiel was unaware of the ghost already haunting the village and only pulled the soul from death. 

Without the soul's memories... The newly born Dryad became a blank slate. Erena's soul is living a new life without her in it.

Years passed, and Erena learned two important things:

1) she was physically tethered to the Dryad, so she couldn't leave or control anything, and

2) the Dryad was an oblivious idiot.

Erena has been quietly haunting this forgetful Dryad, but she couldn't see or hear Erena. She could instill emotions - dread, fear, sadness, or rage - into her, but nothing coherent enough to explain anything to the Dryad. She always just chalked it up to a deep seeded intuition that she couldn't quite grasp.

Then, the events of Whispers unfold. 

The Dryad finally uncovers the truth of her origins through Amadeus's first hand account, and an old dusty journal that once belonged to Erena...

and the Dryad ignored it.

The Dryad read about Erena, talked to Amadeus, and experienced every bit of rage, fear, and sadness Erena wanted her to feel, but Dryad wanted to define her own life. She wanted to become her own person, and assume her own identity. She knew she was no longer the person that died all those years ago. She didn't have the experiences that made Erena who she was. Without knowing about the ghostly figure haunting her, Dryad decided to move on without looking any deeper into her past. Later down the line, the Dryad would finally become her own person, and pick her name: Aine. 

This enraged Erena. After years and years of trying to communicate with the Dryad, she is just discarded. Erena didn't care that Dryad couldn't possibly know that she was still around. the Dryad decided that Erena's life was unimportant.

She had to sever herself from the Dryad. If her own soul wouldn't help her get revenge on the man that took her life away, then she would make her own...

Erena spent so much of her afterlife sifting through Dryad's head, she figured her influence must stretch beyond just Dryad's mindscape. 

and it did. 

Over the years, as the Dryad forged her own identity, the tether tying the two together began to decay. Aine was no longer part of Erena: she had become her own person, while Erena was still stuck as the girl that drowned in the river. 

Eventually, after the tether disintegrated, Erena found a way to travel in-between realms through the Void (evil worldbuilding shenanigans, just go with me for now). 

She successfully left the realm she used to call home, and ended up settling in Illador, where Kingdom takes place.

She spent her time hopping from mindscape to mindscape, learning about her newfound abilities. She learned she had a particular affinity with nightmares since her dip into the Void, and noticed she began to feel more present, more focused, and more powerful with every new victim.

She kept haunting people's nightmares until she crossed paths with a young Midas [@peitalo]. He proposed a deal that if she helped murder his father, the ruling king of Illador, he would help make her a new body that would be hers. No Dryad, no soul. Just a vessel to possess.

She accepted the deal. She killed his father, killed his mother, and aided in the murder of his older brother, leaving Midas to be the sovereign of Illador. As promised, King Midas helped conjure a vessel that would become a physical shadow that she could control. 

She would don a porcelain mask, and would adopt many names:

The Night terror, The Cleric, The Queen of Illador...

But "The Illusionist" was always her favorite.

EC!Wither Character Post!

Because I've been wanting to do this now that the angstier aspect of her character has come to light, or some of it :D

First of all, a drawn reference to help artists out there:

This was made back in 2023, and was also the reference I used when I made her skin/CPM model, so... She is a character that I have thought out for a while now gkbgj.

Here are some design notes that I left for the peeps at the Discord too:

Next, I want to leave here fun facts about her character, design and lore!

☆ She was created after everything I liked/found more interesting elements of Minecraft, tbh xD.

Always loved the Wither as a concept and wished it was used for more than additional boss battle or a Nether Star source. And I love the concept of Soulfire/blue fire in general too, in addition to thinking that the Nether is a very cool place.

☆ Color-wise, she's moreso based on a Wither Storm from Minecraft Storymode than a vanilla Wither. Because purple.

☆ Said that, in theory, Wither could have some kind of bersek mode similar to the Wither Storm, but that would be a pain to model lol.

☆ I always thought that the cubitos that looked like demonic creatures with claws and glowing eyes were the coolest ones, so that's the approach I took while designing her. She's not a demon, she just has the vibes of creature.

☆ The Enderman is my favorite Minecraft mob, actually hkbgjh. I think they are the most interesting mobs with their mechanics, behaviour, powers and design.

The reason why I implemented them into my character as this genuine fear is a bit funny: While playing Minecraft, I always try to stay away from the endermen and make sure to not anger them, because I really don't want to kill them myself, plus, in-game, they are terrifying to deal with for me when in hostile with all the teleporting and the sounds it makes, so I end up not being as quick or willing to react when an enderman is around.

So I decided to use that OOC behaviour of mine as PTSD reaction for my character in a way that makes sense 👍.

☆ I created her background lore in a way that it would not conflict with smp lore, regardless of what would happen there.

☆ Originally, her main weapon would be a scythe, but when they're not available, she uses OP bows since that is also my favorite and preferred way of attacking in Minecraft OOC.

☆ Her wings quite literally spawn and despawn, it's magic.

☆ Personally believed the Hulk type of characters are fun to deal with as a writer, which is why Wither is one in a way (I would not call it another persona of hers when she loses it, she just turns feral and kills on sight).

☆ She growls and roars like creature while on this status instead of talking, ye.

☆ Only Nether elements and Soulfire are not enough to trigger this, otherwise it would happen all the time (girl wears Netherite armor and it has Soulfire into it). This status also depends on her emotions.

When Bluebell died in the Nether, a lot of negative and strong emotions consumed Wither. By the time she was heading to the Nether portal with wishes to destroy it, she wasn't thinking clearly anymore, and once she was in range of it, is when these powers and status activated fully (and the village nearby payed for it).

☆ Yes, she fistfought an Iron Golem and won. (The Iron Golem caused her only two injuries on the bloody skin, though) (The abdomen and head ones).

☆ Soul and Fire are like, the most on the nose clue about her past with their names. Just put them together in the order I mentioned them gkvgjh.

☆ Soul is the little head on her right. Fire is the little head on her left. (Using the drawn reference I attached here to avoid confusion too: On your left is Soul and on your right is Fire).

☆ Both of them have their own personalities, but overall are way more untrustful of the world and people around them than Wither is. It takes a bit to gain that trust and willing to talk to you.

☆ They can't speak by themselves, but Wither has mind link to them and hears them on her head. She communicates what they want to say for them.

☆ You only have seen them communicate since day 12 because they now started to trust Bluebell enough for it.

☆ I always had in mind that Wither's story and character arc on any smp would be way better if she happened to take care of a little baby creature. Yes, I am so glad that Bluebell exists gkbfkg.

☆ She canonically only traveled and walked to where they live now, she was not a planned individual to be there. This is worth to mention considering recent and future lore.

☆ She's aroace 👏.

☆ Mat, the person who she talked about at the beginning and even wrote a letter to, is my boyfriend's cubito. They don't have the same in-character relationship as us OOC, but he does care a lot for her.

And your prize for coming this far into the post, it's a playlist that I will be updating along with the plot. The playlist was made with her background lore in mind <3.

so basically evo smp was an smp from like 5 years ago that Grian started, the whole idea of it was that they would slowly go through the different versions of Minecraft, starting at the very earliest version, and advancing to the next

The way they advanced was that there were these omnipresent beings called Watchers, right? They would set up riddles and quests and maps (which I’ll get into later) for the players to explore to find the next portal, then leading them to the next version

The watchers would do these games, like ‘go through this castle to find this’ or ‘do this parkour course for this’ or ‘because you did this, here is a chest of things you will be given as a reward/punishment’ (for example, some people got tons of diamonds because the watchers liked them for obeying the rules and stuff, some people got coal because the watchers didn’t like them for not obeying the rules and stuff) ((<- Grian was the latter)). They also made statues and buildings and pranked players (<- take that last bit with a grain of salt) too

This started a long line of chain events where Grian would do something bad that the watchers didn’t like, the watchers would punish him for it, and he’d usually then continue doing it if not do something worse

That, I’m pretty sure, is generally what the watchers did, and the watchers relationship with Grian (in martyns life smp/watcher lore, I think this is where the ‘watchers feed of negative emotion’ and ‘watchers don’t like Grian because he doesn’t listen to them’ came from. I might be wrong here though; not exactly sure)

At Grians end of evo, he left prematurely than the others did (this was decided before he was invited to hermitcraft) and the au he did this is the entire gang went with him, and all went to the end portal with him. Grian went in the end portal, killed the Ender dragon, and then in the Minecraft text you get after killing the Ender dragon, that was replaced with a conversation between watcher 1 and watcher 2 reminiscing about the good times on the server, and talking about evo. Then, at the end, they took Grian saying ‘he would watch with them’ and stuff of the like (<- if you wanna know more about that go watch Grians last episode of evo, around the 15 minute mark, you don’t need much of the rest of the context to learn and generally understand the conversation they’re having), then the last 2 messages were from a ‘watcher 3’ (Grian) in red text, saying he looks forward to watching them all and stuff like that

So yeah hope that made sense. If you wanna add to this/correct some things, go ahead idm but that’s everything I know of :)

ello! I've been seeing a lot of your posts and I was wondering, what exactly is 'Ghostbur'?

GASP! HELLO HELLO HELLO!!!

Okayokay, so! Ghostbur is a character from the Dream SMP, which is a tv show type thing made up of Minecraft livestreams, with the “actors” using a fascinating mix of improv and roleplay. The series ran from 2020 to 2023, although an epilogue just happened several days ago!

Ghostbur himself is a rather complex character (as in, Most of the fandom wildly misunderstands and misinterprets Ghostbur because he is so complicated) but he’s also incredibly sweet and kind :’) He wears a yellow sweater, speaks in a scratchy high-pitched voice, adores the color blue, and has a pet sheep which he named (quite endearingly) Friend.

Ghostbur, as you can probably guess from the name, is a ghost! Specifically, the ghost of a man named Wilbur (that’s where the -bur part of the name comes from). Despite being Wilbur’s ghost and being deeply connected to Wilbur—they’re both played by the same actor, they look very similar, they have similar sounding voices, aspects of their personalities are the same, and they even share a lot of memories!—they’re not quite the same person. It’s a bit like they’re identical twins? Not precisely, but that sort of gets the point across. Despite their similarities, Wilbur and Ghostbur have very clear & distinct differences, such as their likes, dislikes, fears, speech patterns (Ghostbur has echolalia, which means that he sometimes repeats words & phrases that he hears, even in contexts where they don’t make sense; Wilbur does not have this) and personalities in general!

Ghostbur has selective amnesia (which is probably due to trauma) and that causes him to forget any memories that are too sad, scary, or otherwise “bad.” As a result, Ghostbur only remembers the “good” things; he has a very bright, happy personality because of this, and runs away from anything he deems as bad, because he doesn’t want to forget those things.

Ghostbur pours himself into making other people happy, and is quite a good builder! He built many things during his lifetime, including a construction crane, a sewer, a library, a small house, and some tents! He wants to make everything look nice, because he wants people to look at the nice things and be happy :)

He is also a very good gift-giver, and has given some of the most thoughtful gifts on the entire server. He loves to drink potions (which. are essentially drugs aksgajgsjsgsh) especially invisibility potions—he’s quite mischievous, and likes to be able to pull pranks without being seen.

His sheep, Friend, is very much an emotional support animal for Ghostbur, and brings him significant amounts of happiness & comfort. Ghostbur loves Friend more than anything else in the world <3 He becomes very distressed when he loses sight of Friend/when something bad happens to Friend.

All in all, Ghostbur is my favorite character ever and I dearly love him <3 He’s a sweetheart, and is terribly misunderstood. He deserved better and I will Stand by that forever and ever.

as Monika from ddlc, i remember two timelines/lives! one timeline follows the canon events of the game where i was a sentient entity trapped within the game. in the other timeline, i was a human girl living in like, a normal world, except i suffered a huuuge breakdown from heavy stress. something in me snapped and i began to see the world as lifeless and flat, and i thought i was stuck in a simulation or video game of some sorts where everything and everyone was fake and i was the only real being. it was.... very hard, as you can probably guess, but with professional help and support from the other club members i got better

@yaoimurder hi squid I'm tagging uu here bc this is where i ramble about that vampire oc i mentioned ages ago, if uu remember that!!! read on if uu'd like (: my oc infodumps are very long and i mention almost EVERYTHING about them so uu can just read the basic info only lol

her name is midah she is my babygirl. she's also my first (and only) empires SMP oc and i ship her w my f/o (mythicalsausage s1)!!

picture #1 is much more accurate to how midah looks but picture #2 includes details about midah not present in the other photo, such as her red vial necklace, flowers on her cheekbones, and silly little hat

since she's an oc for a series I'll mention stuff that some might not know about, im too lazy to explain everything though so if anyone's curious at all just ask :3

okay midah's backstory is a LIIITTLE murky bc i mainly use her for vague-daydreaming purposes. anyway shes an assassin sorceress who practices blood magic and other types of magic (such as offensive fire Magic that involves creating and manipulating white fire). i got the idea for her name from the line, "touch me, midas, make me part of your design," from my ordinary life. other than that though, her character/story doesn't have much connection to the mythology figure midas. it's just her name that's connected to him. her name is pronounced like midas without the "s", or like the name Micah.

midah is half vampire and half flower elf. i don't really have info on what a "flower elf" is exactly, i don't think i wrote down the info for that, but basically it's just. Elf type connected to Flowers. and flowers often grow on (and maybe in...) their bodies. this can be seen in the red roses that grow on midah's cheekbones. help me my brain is coming up with ideas fur this elf type as i type this but I'm too tired to really focus on that and too focused on finishing this rambles

shes brave, strong, self assured of her own capabilities, tbh for the most part she's a normal person with not much mental and emotional problems, and she cares deeply for those she loves (like a certain mythical j. sausage... aka my f/o ever) she cares deeply to the point of sacrifice but hey, anything for true love amirite... shes also usually the voice of logic and reason compared to sausage but she doesn't try to stop his antics (until his antics start getting a little... demonic.) she totally tops sausage btw. shes also older than him by a bit and she's much taller than him (she's like 7ft tall)

anyway midah isn't very affected by the sunlight BUT she does need to drink blood every now and then, otherwise she gets a bit Quirky (aggressive, uncontrollable monsterlike behavior, and also she starts feeling a lot of physical pain) blood is like a Huge thing for her. she can perform rituals using blood. she wears a vial of blood tied to a necklace for good luck. she has a special bond with the blood sheep

wait what the fuck is a blood sheep? they're creatures from empires SMP s1, particularly the mythland empire (cough cough, that's the main setting of midah's "story") basically they're just Minecraft sheep dyed red. but lorewise they're mysterious creatures who have inhabited mythland for a very long time. they exhibit erratic behavior and sometimes display aggression to other beings. their blood and guts are also very useful for rituals! the blood sheep like midah a lot. they follow her around and nuzzle her like docile farm sheep and sometimes she can communicate with them and they follow her orders. they also protect her FIERCELY against anyone

the vial midah wears around her neck is filled with the blood of a sacrificed blood sheep. she wears it for good luck but replaces it every now and then because the luck can degrade and eventually attract bad luck instead

so yeah i have a lot of different storylines i imagined for midah and ill try to go over them briefly (I'll totally not type like 6 more paragraphs)

- backstory #1 explaining how sausage and midah met: midah moves to mythland and works there as a regular farmer at first and then attempts to join the assassin's guild managed by sausage. she expresses interest in being an assassin and spy. sausage is unsure of her at first,but hes intrigued by her, so he tests her with an easy normal mission: assassinating codfather Jimmy in the empire next door and bringing back his head. yeah that's totally not, like, the beginning of a war and political feud or something. so midah sneaks to the codlands, successfully kills Jimmy, returns with his head, and gets accepted into the guild. at the beginning of this backstory she puts on this facade of a totally unassuming and regular citizen who doesn't seem to have any fighting capabilities, let alone the capability to fight with magic and perform rituals, but then time passes and more and more is revealed about her and it's like Wow she's not who she seems to be. at all. and she quits her farmer job and goes all in on the assassin gig but does other stuff on the side too. and falls in love with saus along the way LOL

- midah x saus backstory #2: they're ~ childhood friends ~ who have been separated for like more than a decade and reunite when midah moves back to mythland. (i envisioned this scene in my head actually—a few days before returning to mythland, midah sends sausage tons and tons of letters sealed within a thick envelope, talking about her plans to return to mythland and why. and also updating him on what's been going on in her life the past decade or so. then on the day she arrives in mythland, they have one of those cute cliche scenes where they run towards each other on a long path and hug each other at the middle. and they cry a bit and talk and marvel about how long its been since they last saw each other. its really sweet ugh)

in this backstory midah was actually part of one of mythland's noble families. i made up some lore where mythland used to be ruled by four noble families (among them were house sausage, which is where sausage comes from duh, and house lavendar, where midah comes from, and yea it's intentionally spelled that way). the noble families/houses went to war with each other for power over mythland and the other two houses were defeated. most members of house lavendar left of their own accord and the rest that remained renounced their noble lineage, leaving house sausage who became the ruling family of mythland. the members of house lavendar specialized in blood magic and a lot of advanced complex blood spells were created by them. hence they have connections to the blood sheep in some way.

i like the longtime friends/allies to lovers dynamic that's going on in backstory #2 (: backstory #1 is still cool in its own way, strangers to lovers is nice, getting to know each other on purpose bc uu find each other intriguing is nice, even though uu might think uur very different people at first, uu get to know the other person a bit more and uu find out things about them and uu realize uur not so different after all ^_^ i read smtg about that once, about loving each other on purpose and choosing to love each other even though uu don't have years and years of history with the other person, and uu grew up completely without them and uur roots aren't tangled with theirs. but still uu love them. and that's very beautiful

i think i agree with this one but i'm not certain if i'm on the same page as you LOL. i do definitely cringe whenever i see an mcyt post that's like Omg their acting in this stream is sooo good and emotional or This quote is so powerful or This scene etc etc. I do this myself sometimes god knows there are a few acting choices in mcyt that drive me crazy but I'm also aware it's like minecraft improv... This is why I'm always saying I hate the super intricate planned lore and cutscenes and stuff of eg. rats smp or parts of empires 2, because it's like, if i wanted to watch something with high production value I'd just watch a fucking TV show. Though if it's also just about fans being up themselves then yeah lmao I don't see it that often but I might just be lucky with who I follow.

For a moment, Tommy almost thought the man had somehow seen him. But he quickly brushed it off, knowing that it was impossible. Tommy was imperceivable, because he was dead and he was a ghost.

Tommy expected the man to move on, to keep walking as though nothing had happened. But the man kept standing there, his face flickering through emotions too fast for Tommy to register.

The man stared in Tommy’s direction with startling clarity, as though he wasn’t actually looking through Tommy and actually knew he was there.

It was silent aside from the pouring rain, and Tommy felt like he was frozen in place.

been thinking a lot about online identities. 

it is interesting to me the level at which people will go to curate their online persona now-a-times. there’s a lot more focus on creating these vtuber/twitch “personas” with a 3d avatar that can emote, adding your own voice to the mix, and other things such as that. but at the same time there’s such an emphasis on doxxing, on the “face reveal”, on what someone looks like in real life. on real life identities, dramas, personal information being revealed, relationship and information on peoples’ partners, breakups, their family, real life friends, etc etc etc. it seems that kids are forming parasocial relationships with these youtubers and twitch personalities, thinking they are their personal close friends, donating actual money to these people, and then something gets dug up and the person is doxxed and cancelled. and then everybody takes their money and moves on to the next one.

back in my day, we usually identified ourselves with a simple online “handle” or URL and one 2d avatar and that was it. the focus was more on the content we were creating - writing, art. now it seems like the content that content creators make is more of an afterthought. i won’t say that let’s plays aren’t art, you have stuff like the dream smp which seems to have a bit of a lore and a story to it that makes it more than just watching some lads play minecraft, but at the same time... eh? maybe i’ve become too old. i don’t really get it.

as copyrights become more of a problem, people want to monetize their content. however, ip holders have a stranglehold on the internet. they don’t want anything monetized that doesn’t meet their “ethical and moral” standards which would damage their brand apparently if it came through that they were financially supporting something verboten. so in other words, it can’t be lgbt, you can’t swear, and it can’t be transformative in any way. only squeaky clean.

i have never and will never monetize my content because i write fic and a lot of the fic that i choose to write deals with heavy issues. so i’m out of this world of “content monetization”, i guess. what does it mean to become a brand? a persona? does this mean selling out? if chatgpt writes your copy and scripts and content, what does it mean? you’re an “online enterpreneur”? you’re an “influencer”? you’re a “disruptor”? you’re doing something significant? you’re improving peoples’ lives?

over time i truly start to hate this kind of landscape. i miss being surrounded by those who want to create for the sake of the process of creation. yes, i have this blog to shoot the shit, talk about my work, whatever, but creating this tumblr was never about “me” as a person. it was for me as a writer. of course this is a self indulgent place, for sure, but it was always about writing, from the very start. and i can’t seem to find as many people around who are interested in the same things. all they want to talk about is “monetization” and “content” and “personas“. i don’t know what that means. i’m not in that world. i’m not excited about ai writing things for me. overall, it’s not a good thing.

getting back to what i was saying re: doxxing and cancellation, i know that kids love this kind of schtick and if i were a teenager now, i’m sure i would be getting in on it too. it feels good to gang up against people when you’re a teen and i’m sure many of them think they’re doing the right thing within this culture but i still say things on the internet should be decoupled from real life hangups and drama and how people look in the meatspace. i don’t know it’s just silly. that being said, the kids are usually alright so i’m all for what teens think is the cool thing now as long as it’s positive. but i also think people should use their judgement and think independently more, not in a ben shapiro you-should-think-independently-by-buying-my-book type of way, but in a genuinely traditional you-should-look-at-different-sources-and-draw-your-own-conclusions-about-the-world type of way.

thems just my thoughts.

edit: also, this is dovetailing neatly with a very very disturbing general push in the zeitgest away from science and scientists (which is worse post-pandemic, dumbfucks saying the vaccine is poison etc) and into very very toxic anti-intellectualism which is leading some people back into religion fundamentalism. as someone who has experience with religious fundamentalists... this is not good juju

OK SMALL RANT ABOUT THE QUACKITY THING

i think that he is intentionally doing something. he's being silly and planning things that would be cruel if outside of minecraft. he is acting like he doesn't know what is going on and he is being sly about it.

but i do NOT think it is intentionally to hurt. if anyone on the SMP's cast list actually wanted a break / thought this was too far they would SAY something. most of them are playing along. jaiden literally said something along the lines of "i need to grieve", she wants her character to suffer a bit, to experience emotions that may be cathartic.

ofc if there is no final resolution and it ends up like the DSMP's ending, yes that's kinda problematic, but like... i REALLY doubt quackity is being evil and WANTING suffering. he is just having fun developing a tragic story in minecraft and the gamers are gaming over it. even he himself seems to be acknowledging that it is getting tragic at times. he does encourage silliness and joy in the smp too, as far as i am aware. he does stupid things that make people laugh.

like. this is fun for the most part imo, evne if we are all sometimes sad and very attached to the eggs.

Honestly i havent been active in watching dsmp for a long time, due to me just not having a schedule build for long streams to watch. But man is the smp ending today still really getting me.

I was one of those first dsmp watchers due to me watching Tommy back when he made skyblock content, I had turned 16 right as the pandemic hit and basically wasted my entire 16th year away not capable of doing anything due to the pandemic. But I remember watching Tommy's first few streams was something really nice to have in that time

And then more people joined

And the smp because REALLY big

Not just that but dsmp helped revive minecraft for younger people too, and helped minecraft become fun for people who didn't like hermitcraft (which was pretty much the only other big smp). I'd even say it brought a large queer audience to mc. You would not believe the explosion of pride related skins on hypixel i saw when dsmp became popular.

And sadly, i just lost touch with it. Like i said, after the pandemic it became tough for me and many others to keep watching streams. But it always stayed such a fun thing. The dsmp ending is just so bittersweet you know? It's like ending the pandemic part of my life, that was mostly spend watching silly minecraft streams and videos.

I'll always be sad that some lore will never be finished. Personally the lore stories i'll be most sad anout are Eret, Ranboo and Fundy since i used to spend SO much time theorising things with them. Hell, i used to be an account for dsmp theories!

Honestly i'm sad to see this officially come to an end. But i understand that it needed to be done

The way that kab brought zam all the way from spawn for the sole reason of poking holes in his argument because she finds it fun. The way she was being extra nice to him in order to convince him that he should re evaluate his actions. She kept saying how much she cared about him, how she holds him in high regard. Saying all of this after overhearing his conversation with bacon about how much 4cs kindness impacted him...

She's trying to control his actions, his choices, judging his teammates, and who he chooses to kill. Deciding for him which actions he takes are emotional or logical. When you apply her own beliefs against her, that you can't choose who lives and who dies, karma's law falls apart. Zam is relatively comfortable in his actions because their HIS actions, not some other god-like entity like karma. He's comfortable with the idea that his actions have bias to them, whereas kab tries so hard to be objective. But the whole point of lifesteal is hearts. Losing and gaining hearts is how the server functions. Throwing around labels like "hero" or "villain" doesn't work in a server as morally grey as lifesteal. Expecting perfection from Zam, who's ultimately just another lifesteal player, a human just as morally grey as the next person, is completely unrealistic.

Zam was a "pacifist" in order to quench his blood thirst, but then it evolved to the point at which his identity changed to become a protector of lifesteal. But just because he has some fancy title does not mean he has to bear the weight of every single person's desire for justice. There's a difference between someone threatening to blow up spawn and the average Tuesday killing. Zams his own person, and if he chooses to engage with the average Tuesday killing in the form of clownpierce, who is kab to judge besides being clowns ally? Why should she be the one to dictate when his actions are justified or not?

Zam himself is obviously also trying to keep himself on a moral path but with how personal his actions have been getting as kab and derapchu pressure him to be this symbol of spawn and protection for "innocent players" and mapicc slowly drifting away from him along with the general lack of any truly innocent players because lifesteal is lifeasteal, zam's beginning to engage more with lifesteal as a person rather than a pacifist who would refuse to engage at all with conflict. Zam is no longer a neutral party and for him to be expected to remain as this symbol instead of making his own decisions is unfair on him.

Moreover, mane's on a bit of a break. There's currently not much need for a protector of lifesteal because lifesteal is functioning as normal. During this period, can't zam be free to play the game? Until the next villain of the season shows up? Until mane decides to continue with phase 2?

Whether zam chooses to kill, pursue more useful goals for the server, build, scheme, do anything really, why should he be judged for it? Why should it need justification? Mapicc understands this that's why he keeps pushing zam to make his own decisions. Zam is not THE protector of lifesteal even if he is the only one and even if hes really good at it. He's just some guy who just so happens to be a protector of lifesteal.

Not killing innocents was his own goal. His own choice. Why are people forcing him to stick to it when it really does not have much to do with being a protector of the DEADLIEST minecraft server.

This is just my own opinion and interpretation of zams charachter but if zam does end up tying his goals of protecting players deemed subjectively by him as "innocent" and protecting the server itself he might end up placing wayyy too much pressure on himself to the point at which the server will ultimately run its course and the season will end, as always, in violence. Whether zam chooses to engage with it or not. Whether he tries to stop it or not.

Lifesteal works in cycles after all.

Eyes And Ears: Speaker Theory

Warning: I’m still learning about the general eyes and ears lore. And these are my theories. So please take everything with a grain of salt.

I have an idea for the Watchers (EVO and Life Series) and also a reason as to why they’re so irrelevant to the Life Series. Is this really necessary? No, but it came to me and I feel if I don’t share I will promptly explode.

In EVO SMP, the Watchers are the audience, right? And the Listeners are…I think I heard empathetic audience members? I dunno, I’m still new to the lore. So what if, the Speakers were *drumroll please* …mod makers or series/SMP creators?

Ok, the inspiration comes from the Biblical creation myth. It states multiple times that God said “Let there be (insert thing here)” and BOOM! It came to be. So God spoke the world into existence, like how mod makers or series creators create new worlds and change how we see Minecraft (and other games in general). 

Transferring to Life Series, we know that the Watchers created the game, and Listeners are trying to…help the players escape?(again, new to the lore). So where does that leave the Speakers? Well, sticking with the creation motif, what if they created the world/universe the Life Series/EVO lore happened in? Or maybe multiverse, if that’s a headcanon you’re into. And they created The Watchers and The Speakers to guard over their creations. 

Like a yin-yang duo? Darkness and light, winter and summer, life and death, chaos and order. One balances the other. Neither can exist without the other. Both must be balanced. 

Which leads to a possible reason for the games being that the Watchers desire MORE negative emotions than the universe in giving them (like how a child wants more sweets than they’re allowed). And Listeners retaliate, attempting to maintain the balance by helping the players escape. A bit off-topic, but an interesting detail. 

So why haven’t the Speakers been active? Why have they not stopped the Life narrative and saved the players? I have a few ideas, none concrete.

The Speakers created the world and took a nap. And they haven’t woken up. Pretty much said “ok kids play nice” and passed out lol. Some mythologies actually follow this, so this is my personal favorite. Also it’s so goofy.

They’re just…bad gods? Don’t really care what happens? Something like that.

Speakers don’t think it’s that bad. “Oh, it doesn’t involve a whole planet or put a universe at risk, it’s fine! The kids are just hungry, let them eat” vibe. See Number 2?

They don’t know. Somehow the Speakers are blind (pun intended) to the “sibling squabble” going on.

Can’t fix it. Out of their range of power. This theory doesn’t make sense because they CREATED THE WORLD and can’t fix a small problem? That would be weird…unless they got overthrown? Nope, the rabbit hole is too deep. Next.

A secret sixth option. ???

And I could continue, but the next part’s not fleshed out enough and not relevant enough right now. Maybe if someone asks politely, I could make part 2. 

TL;DR: Speakers could canonically be creators, since mythology has examples of creators speaking worlds into existence. They could have created both The Watchers and The Listeners, to balance the other out, like yin-yang. It is up for debate what the reason is behind the Speaker’s lack of intervention.
