OK SMG4 RANT TIME-

I wanna talk about the thing from the ‘ITS GOTTA BE PERFECT’ movie

Specifically SMG4s reaction when SMG3 said that their friends. I feel like it struck a nerve because back in The Youtube Arc, SMG3 and 4 became “friends”

But this is nothing but a lie at first, just to not let SMG4 worry or even notice him while 3 plans something

Sure, 4 didnt hear this but 3s actions mostly already showed what he meant.

This is the same arc where SMG3 gets a power high from the channel, going a bit mad with power

While in ‘ITS GOTTA BE PERFECT’ SMG4 goes through an existential crisis, thinking all his hard work will burn to the ground if he isnt good enough, going insane from it, insane because of the channel

But why do i bring this up?

Because in both the arc and the movie, they also mention their relationship (as friends… for now- /j)

SMG3 lied to him at first, manipulated 4 to think SMG3 would be cool

But in the movie

He means it

Their actually friends

No lies… not anymore

The fact that the only thing I remembered from watching SMG4 when I was like 7 yrs old, was that one scene where Mario yeets Peach of into the water shows how much I have a lot of lore to catch up after 12 years.

That. Was. Something... First of all I didn’t expect for Puzzles to swear in the first 3 minutes of movie (Like it’s the sign that he went way too coo-coo crazy).

The challenges were fun to watch but I don’t have much to say 'bout them. Except that these two scenes made me laugh)

Next the song! It was fire as always (I generally like this types of songs. And looks like this one is going to be on repeat for the next few weeks. Yet "Creative control" still in the first place. Btw the "Creative control" is what brought me to the smg4 community so yeah) And the epic battle that comes along with the song! Noice :]

I’m just speechless. The side that we thought bout but never seen. Inner child… (and a blue screen. I’ve tried reading it but it’s too difficult)

Also scene where Meggy meets Kid Puzzles is cute and sad at the same time. Kinda wanted to see more of it

The ending was quite unsettling (even though I’ve expected to some sh-t to hit the fan)

But putting Puzzles in F-NG MENTAL ASYLUM??!!! Sheesh, man…

Overall I liked it! The new merch is also cool! I really want that hoodie…

As for Mr. Puzzles future I think it would be funny that in few months he’d return "normal" (or at least pretend to be normal to get out of here) with a health certificate proving that he’s (not) fine

And I REALLY hope that it won't be like after Puzzlevision where he returned almost right after.

"I don't want Puzzles redeemed because he did bad things" are you aware that only characters that did bad things can be redeemed?

like are you aware of the concept of redeeming a character? Which more than not comes from the evil, the ANTAGONIST side? which means that it's really only villains (and characters affected by villains) that can be redeemed, right? Like, are you aware?

Your precious SMG3 also stalked 4 before, actually 2 times I can recall for you. He actually tried to kill him more than once but you're turning your head, closing your eyes, ignoring it, not acknowledging his past. Not acknowledging the bad things he did out of envy and hatred and loneliness, something that Puzzles is absolutely also driven by, which you could absolutely see by the ending, that was absolutely a betrayal for him, he's absolutely controlled by his emotions in this regard

he's so similar to SMG3 it hurts

like 3 only really got to redeem himself because 4 needed him to save the world because they had to hold hands for powers

like. think about it with me for a second. imagine a world where 3 wasn't needed for 4 like that, if he could have just been powerful by himself. It could have been just 1 and 2 training him, 3 wouldn't have been needed at all

he could be very much written out and there you go, no more SMG3 redemption

it really just could have been SMG4 learning the power of memes instead. Internet graveyard could've gone fully forgotten, with 3 fully presumed, maybe even confirmed dead

so like, don't come at Puzzles like he's the devil itself if you don't want to lend the same thing for 3

"But 3 showed he could change!" well Puzzles showed feelings, he showed he's VULNERABLE and to me, genuinely, it hurt to see him upset. I can fix him /platonic

I hate to put this in the main tag, but GUYS. STOP FUCKING GATEKEEPING CHARACTERS. It is NOT illegal for someone to ship a character like SMG3 with someone else, or any character for that matter! Unless it’s a proship and just a person having fun, leave them fucking be or I swear to god. There’s more to life than trashing people with fiction, and if you don’t like it, don’t look. We’re all here to collectively enjoy SMG4, not fight over ships that aren’t even illegal 😭 I’m sorry but there’s been too much fighting here. I love smg34, but I fucking hate pointless discourse. imma be real with y'all, I don't understand why so many people are angry over the new episode 🧍

I don't really do posts talking about the new episodes but this one has me baffled

Some people are saying characters are being out of character, others are saying they backed themselves into a corner so they pulled the "it was all an act" card, and some are saying Meggy forgives Puzzles?

I didn't get any of that from this episode. The characters were acting like they always do, Meggy very clearly doesn't forgive Puzzles, she just realises that there can be good in him and that card being pulled definitely isn't the case, for me at least.

My theory is that Smg4 is gonna be the major villain for WOTFI 2024. My biggest giveaway for this is when Puzzles says "Who knew you could be such a great antagonist Smg4". The way he says "I can't imagine what he did to you" when talking to Meggy just makes me raise an eyebrow. Another thing, we never see Smg3, Luigi and Bob leave the Meme Factory. There was definitely time between then and the new episode where something happened, potentially brainwashing. The way Mr Puzzles reacted to Smg4 also gives it away to me.

Another thing, there was clearly no brainwashing involved with Leggy and Mr Puzzles, she was doing things on her own accord, so why bring up "brainwashing"? My guess is that Smg4 took advantage of Meggy not remembering anything that happened as a way to paint Mr Puzzles as being far worse while getting her to ignore what he did. 4 turned Meggy into Leggy, he was the one to not do anything while Luigi, Bob and 3 got taken away, he was the one to act forceful with Mario.

Also, uh this entire thing is a series of mini arcs building up to something big. This mini arc wasn't something to be taken as "complete", this mini arc was ment to be taken as "Something big is coming." You know it's important when it's a premiere. This episode isn't meant to cap off things, it meant to show more, bigger things are coming.

But with that all said, I don't understand why y'all are so angry and why it's being taken so seriously in a series all about not being serious 24/7- this may get me flamed but fuck it, I'm just saying what I think

This take is most likely gonna be a piping hot one but it’s only fair I share it here too and do some ranting along with it since I’ve said it everywhere else:

The recent changes to the writers team as well as the supposed complete lack of communication within it is actively sabotaging the show and I would be perfectly fine with the show taking a hiatus if it meant that the team would take that time to get their shit together to improve their writing overall.

As you may or may not have known, early on in the year Kevin seemingly stepped back as head writer (not officially that I can recall but he’s had very few writing credits ever since chapter 4 of the PV saga began) and some new writers were hired starting with the episode Trash Friends, said writers being the Zamination bros Zach & Micah; X/Aaron and Medi/Paul have also been promoted to the most prominent major writers since then.

However, since these changes we’ve seen a very noticeable and steep decline in writing quality, most evident via the lore sections of 2024. They’ve all felt completely disconnected from the 2023 lore and even disconnected from each other at times. Not to mention there’s been a pretty severe mismatch between how the chapter-ending specials are advertise and how they actually turn out, but that’s a whole different ramble for another time.

Several months ago one of the Zam bros even admit to not having caught up on the early PV lore before writing for the later, which is a huge fuckup in itself that should not have happened; I made a post about it back in July when that circulated.

“But Funkii, where did you get the lack of communication thing from?” Hoo boy, allow me to present something I learned while chatting in the official discord yesterday.

We were discussing our dissatisfaction with the wotfi and the recent writing overall and someone stepped in with this (read bottom to top)

I already wondered if the communication between writers for each episode was poor but it’s apparently literally nonexistent. Yikes, not a good look and definitely not a tactic that makes for good writing.

So basically Zach & Micah don’t know nearly enough about what they’re writing for, and then there’s Paul who notoriously relies too much on fanservice (+personal desires to a certain extent) for both his editing and writing. All of that makes the messiness of this year’s lore make a lot more sense to me.

Things of course got a bit crazy in chat after this and a large number of us reached this conclusion: the show needs to take a break, man. It doesn’t have to be for insanely long, it just needs to be long enough for the writers to fix their communication and overall consistency. I know I tend to be very impatient when it comes to waiting for new smg4 content, but if this were the circumstance that initiated a hiatus then I’d gladly wait as long as I had to.

I genuinely think that would improve the show’s writing drastically and for the better in the long run. Things have been such a mess this year and I really really don’t want to see things continue to decline.

Best episode I've ever seen.

I absolutely loved the new episode. I also wanted to say that I was wrong for saying in my last post that smg4 was "Milking Mr. Puzzles" When in reality the team behind smg4 knew exactly what to do with his character, this episode made me want to watch the series more and more and there are so many things I loved about this episode.

I just love how relatable Mr. Puzzles was, this is my interpretation so take it with a grain of salt but when he was making those stupid brainrotting contents and had a huge following it kinda hit home to me. It reminded me of how I was desparate to have friends so I often tried to hop on trends or pretended to like something my classmates liked just so they could be my friends. I can see how stupid that is now. But If I could I just want to give him a big hug telling him that he'll have his friends one day, that he won't be alone have someone that'll appreciate his hard work.

And there were things that were interesting for me.

We get that whenever he's mad he has this realistic features on his screen, (Possibly his real face?) But this time it's far more disturbing and horrifying tbh.. also, I can't be the only one who noticed he 'almost' grew another head! This makes me wonder what other kinds of powers this TV man holds. And the swearing was really surprising! caught me off guard than Alastor's swearing😂

Seriously though this face did scare me, and I loved it!✨ don't think I told ya'll this but, I'm a sucker for horror and I love a good scare. So imagine my surprise here when we saw his more nightmareish face! I have no idea how many times I replayed that part of the video and I'm glad we got a more different version of his face and got to see him not just being an "Cute TV twink" though I don't hate that version of him it's kinda like us sans all over again.

Anyhow I was also surprised that Mickey was there at the end. I have a couple of theories as to what he'll do in the 2024 wotfi.

First: He'll get Mr. Puzzles to sign a contract (Because I don't think it's just Mickey mouse, more like the entire disney company) and "buy" him to make more brain rotting content, with a deal that he'll get his friends and will never be lonely again. Reason? well 2024 doesn't have a good track record of movies and live actions so maybe smg4 and his team will rescue Puzzles from this horrible deal or something.

I doubt this theory is true though cause I don't think Puzzles dumb enough to make a deal like that!

Second: Puzzles and smg4 and co will team up to defeat Mickey or the company and restore good quality content! this one kinda sounds like a good plot for the new wotfi for me.

None of these has to be true but, it is interesting to think about. If you have any new theories I like to hear 'em! I just loved this episode overall and I'll make so more gl2/oc contents more cause I miss those😅 Hope ya'll enjoyed my post and Mr. Puzzles I love you so much!

loved that it put more of the spotlight on 3 and how he feels about his reputation and what the audience thinks of him, constantly being in the shadow because the truth is.. when he was first made, he really was just a clone. nothing more, and sometimes a lot less

they’re both so mentally ill and it shows. 4 has issues with knowing when to stop working, igbp ofc ofc.. and then 3 feels like he is in 4’s shadow. and that’s only to name one of their issues for each!!
