“Mary Woronov burned herself into my brain when, as a college student in 1966, I first saw her smouldering, imperious performance in Andy Warhol’s epic film Chelsea Girls. She was one of the most original, stylish and articulate sexual personae of the royal House of Warhol. I never forgot her, and I followed her subsequent movie career with great fascination … Warholism, which is my philosophy as a critic, merged the visual and performing arts and closed the gap between high and popular culture. Thirty years later, it can be clearly seen that the Warhol Factory, with all its riveting decadent excesses, was as seminal an avant-garde circle as that of the Dadaists and Surrealists after World War I in Paris.”
/ Camille Paglia from the back cover blurb on Mary Woronov’s 1995 autobiography Swimming Underground: My Years in the Warhol Factory /
Born on this day (8 December 1943): insolent Warhol Superstar turned queen of cult movies, actress, writer, visual artist and recovered amphetamine enthusiast … Mary Woronov! I love the strikingly angular Woronov’s deadpan performances, resting bitch face and witheringly contemptuous voice in Silent Night, Bloody Night (1972) (recommended Christmas viewing), Death Race 2000 (1975), Rock’n’Roll High School (1979), Eating Raoul (1982) and Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills (1989). (I just recently caught Woronov in the apex of lurid 1980s exploitation cinema, Hellhole (1985) (tagline: “CAPTIVES … stripped naked. Forced to submit to the ultimate experiment … pray they don’t succeed!”). Even in a cast including Edy Beyond the Valley of the Dolls Williams and Dyanne Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS Thorne, Woronov totally dominates as – what else? – the sadistic villainess). But hell, Woronov is even great value doing guest spots on episodes of Charlie’s Angels (1976) and Murder, She Wrote (1985). One of the best things she ever did was play the mother in punk band Suicidal Tendencies' 1983 video “Institutionalized” (“All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me”). Pictured: cute couple! Woronov with Lou Reed, when she was one of the Exploding Plastic Inevitable stage dancers.

Molly?!
The only older girl lily could turn to. Little does she know...
The loveable Lily evans, a young girl attending hogwarts in 1972, friends with pureblood Molly Prewitt, was currently panicking.
it seems that the gryffindor courage has left her right now, but any gryffindor girl woud've had her courage drained when met with the sight that was before Lily right now.
the poor girl had gotten up to use the bathroom at about one in the morning according to the clock on Lily's nightstand, when in the dim light created by a candle on the wall revealed Lily's underwear, a typical pink and blue floral pattern was stained crimson with lily's blood.
Lily had no clue what to do, all she knew was her period had just started for the first time ever in her 12 years of life.
Lily would've rather not gotten her period in the dead of night but, she did and now she had to figure out what to do. not wanting to bother her teachers who were obviously sound asleep in their own personal chambers, the only thought she could think of that might help would be to wake Molly in the 5th year girls dorms and ask her to help.
Lily thought to herself and considered the likelyness of Molly being able to help her. She was older, a girl as well, likely knew more about periods than Lily did, had things to handle the blood with, and was nearby, and just a short hallway down from Lily.
So as silently as she could, the young redhead made her way down the hallway. The 5th year door creaked but Lily was silent, she tiptoed into the room toward Molly's bed, the second to the left. She knew this was Molly's because on the nightstand next to it lay two knitting needles and a bundle of yarn that quietly continued knitting a scarf.
"Molly? Molly! Wake up," Lily whisper yelled at the ginger. Molly stirred awake quickly and saw the second year she loved like a sister.
"Lily? What the bloody hell are you doing awake? Come on, cuddle up and we can go back to bed." Molly said lifting the blankets up, inviting Lily to climb underneath
"About that molls, i need your help, i just got my period for the first time and i haven't the slightest idea what to do," Lily explained her voice warbling ever so slightly from her emotions.
"Well why didn't you say so? Come on, I'll get you set right in no time love, then we can go back to bed and sleep in, tomorrow is saturday afterall" Molly said sitting up quickly and dragging Lily to the bathroom in the 5th year dormitory
As Molly and Lily entered the spacious bathroom Molly saw the back of Lily's nightgown
"Scourgify," she whispered making the blood vanish.
"Now, d'you know how to put a pad on?" Molly asked
"No," Lily said blushing a light shade of pink
"No problem lilyflower, i can show you, just give me a moment to get some clean underwear for you, ok" molly said exiting the bathroom,
Lily's dorm was far darker than the 5th year dorms, but that mattered not, since a whispered "accio lilys green underwear" and she had her hands on Lily's underwear without even needing to look.
"Right then," Molly said reentering the bathroom where Lily was still in the same spot molly left her, nervously playing with a small piece of her hair that had fallen out of its braid.
Molly squatted and got a pad from under the sink, and kneeled infront of Lily, who was sitting on the toilet.
"So, after you unwrap the pad like this, you peel it off the backing and stick it here like a sticker, then you take this bit of paper off the wings and fold them around so the pad stays in place as you're walking around, this one’s got two sets of wings since its meant for nighttime, other ones will usually only have one set of wings on them." Molly explained, showing Lily what she meant as she explained everything.
"So daytime ones are smaller?" Lily asked trading her bloodied underwear for the clean ones with the pad in.
"Yeah, the night ones are bigger since you're laying down and shifting in your sleep and sometimes while you sleep the blood can go further back than when you're awake," Molly said before apparating Lily's bloody underwear back to her dorm to let the house elves take care of them. Every girl knows the house elves are miracle workers at getting blood from their favorite garments when an unexpected surprise ends up leaving a stain.
"Go on and finish up here, I'll be waiting in my bed," Molly said letting Lily have a bit of privacy.
Molly sat on her bed and waited only a minute until Lily had emerged from the bathroom and walked to Molly's bed.
Molly drew the curtains and tied them closed, she then cast a silencing ward over her bed so as to not wake the other girls in the room from hers or Lily's obnoxious snoring. And finally tucked herself and Lily into bed with a whispered promise of a long talk tomorrow just to make sure Lily was well informed of any questions she may have had.
By the time breakfast came the next morning the girls were sleepily cuddled together when Molly's wand began glowing and acting as an alarm clock.
Molly woke up and cast her finishing spell and got Lily awake as well. When she untied her curtains and opened them her friends, Alice, Sadie, and Mary all looked at her bed and the extra person.
"Morning girls, I haven't missed breakfast have I?" Molly asked jokingly.
"No, but why is there a 2nd year in with us?" Mary asked pulling on her hoodie.
"oh, this is Lily. She's one of my closest friends and kind of like the little sister I never had. She's in with us because sometimes whether it's a nightmare or something else she'll come and cuddle with me to feel safe. Usually I can sneak her out before you wake up." Molly explained.
"oh, that's really sweet mols. Can we hang out today, like us four with Lily too?" Alice asked.
"I don't know girls, it depends if Lily's up for it, she had a bit of a rough night. She got her first period and didn't know what to do," Molly explained after Lily had gone to dress for the day.
"poor thing, if she's not up for walking around we can camp out up here in the tower and only go down for meals." Sadie said. Molly looked at Mary and Alice and they both nodded in agreeance.
"I'll ask her if she'd like to do that, and I think if you girls would like we can start being like big sisters to her. She doesn't really have anyone to lean on, she's so sweet but often ends up alone." Molly told
When Molly found Lily again she proposed the idea to the younger ginger and smiled when she gave an eccentric yes.
Through the day Lily became very close to Molly's friends and had a whole dorm of 5th year girls to look out for her.
Hope you enjoy ❤️

I forgot if I've seen Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) or not because of the fact that I watched Christmas Evil (1980) and Silent Night, Bloody Night (1972) last year. I can't keep track of these fucking things.

Movie Review | Silent Night, Bloody Night (Gershuny, 1972)
Mild spoilers in the second paragraph.
If you're looking for a Christmas horror movie, this certainly fits the bill. As far as the Christmas goes, there's some pretty nice lighting, in or away from the presence of Christmas lights, while the interior scenes have a very cozy brown look, let's call it the Hot Cocoa aesthetic, the kind of colour scheme you just want to curl up in. As far as the horror goes, the violence is surprisingly gnarly, more blood and severed limbs than you'd expect. So the movie certainly does justice to the second part of the title, with all the blood and what have you, but maybe not the first part, given all the screaming in pain characters do as they're being killed.
After we see a man burned to death in flashback, the plot moves to a lawyer played by Patrick O'Neal who comes to town with his girlfriend played by Astrid Heeren so he can sell the creepy old house now belonging to the son of the guy who burned to death. You'll notice right away that his girlfriend is a few decades younger than he is, but before you chime in to criticize the age gap, I'll have you know that ***SPOILERS*** both of them get horrifically murdered a third of the way in. So I hope you'll think twice about criticizing their relationship. Let us exercise some tact. Let us remember them fondly, instead of lecturing their corpses about the "half your age plus seven" rule. ***END SPOILERS***
Anyway, this is gonna be the weirdest fucking thing I've ever written here, but Astrid Heeren's eyebrows are like cute little caterpillars. I don't even like caterpillars, but the point is that her eyebrows are pretty striking. And she's not the only one in the cast where that's the case. Mary Woronov and James Patterson, the latter of whom looks like he could be the lovechild of David Hess and Jean-Paul Belmondo, have some pretty striking eyebrows too. So the casting director probably had a thing about them.
Anyway, I wouldn't call this a lost classic, but I enjoyed it. It's nice and cozy and bloody, and there's also the off-kilter tone to the affair, thanks to the weirdly deadpan performances by most of the cast, but in particular Woronov and Patterson. And there's some stuff that anticipates another Christmas horror classic, like the POV scenes and creepy phone calls, so you can turn it into a double feature if you're in the mood.
