Hi! I just wanted to know what lens and camera setup you use! I saw you got a mirrorless and I've been thinking of branching out to one but can't decide which!

Hello anon, thank you very much for your message!

I currently use the Canon EOS R, but I likely won’t keep it. It really is a great camera for landscapes, portraits and street photography, but as soon as you need a reliable and fast autofocus, it dissapoints in my opinion. Before that I had my lovely 60D and I thought that the R would definitely do better in action situations, but not necessarily. I know it is not made for that, but I am happy with 5 frames per second as long as they are focused - which they unfortunately aren’t. 

Personally I would like to get more into wildlife photography and such (Zuna isn’t my only photo subject :D) and therefore I will need so get something else. Also I want running shots of Zuna to be better and not so much of a luck game. I will probably get the R6 as it’s really recommended for what I want to do. 

Sorry for the little rant ^^ This topic reeeeallly has been bothering me lately. 

But for the mirrorless part, I love the R. For me it took a while to get used to all the new options and possibilities I have with it and I still don’t understand everything a 100%. Personally I haven’t noticed any disadvantages in comparison to a DSLR. Only advantages. 

As for lenses, I use the EF-EOS R - adapter + Sigma Art 24mm-35mm f2; Sigma Art 85mm f1.4 DG HSM and the Canon 70mm-200mm 2.8 L II.

Sigma Announces 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art Lens for Mirrorless Cameras

The Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens is a completely new design lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras, as the “DN” designation indicates. The Sigma lens is a complete reinvention of the definitive fast-aperture portrait prime that pairs class-leading optical performance with a compact, dust-and splash-proof design.

Offered in both L-Mount and Sony E-Mount, this lens features a completely new optical formula that includes five Special Low Dispersion Elements and one aspherical element for exceptional edge-to-edge image sharpness.

This new optical formula also thoroughly corrects aberrations, resulting in visually pleasing images with no color bleed, even at maximum aperture. Plus, the 11-blade rounded diaphragm ensures smooth, attractive bokeh. The 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens is handcrafted to the most exacting optical and mechanical tolerances in Sigma’s Aizu, Japan production facility.  Additional benefits include an aperture ring that allows for clicked and de-clicked operation, a programmable AFL button on the lens barrel, and a new Iris Ring Lock Switch that prevents unintended movement of the aperture ring during image capture.

A smaller focusing lens is paired with the stepping motor, which is optimized for both phase detection and contrast detection autofocus, allowing for this lens to be notably smaller than the 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art lens. This combination of imaging characteristics, build quality, and compact size for its focal length and aperture combine to make this the class-defining portrait lens for full-frame mirrorless camera systems.

The sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art will go on sale later this month for $1199.
