I guess I'm gonna get involved with the "Luis Serra is a white man" allegations because absolutely not.
He's from a remote island in Spain, right? An island no one has really heard of before in the Resident Evil universe, right? And if that we're so, that would also mean that there's little to no tourists or people moving there, right? And if all of the people there are natives, how the fuck is Luis white? (With a capital 'hwa')
Make it make sense please for the love of god.
Besides, there are thousands of different cultures just in Spain alone, so there's little doubt in my kind that Luis can't be mixed. He could be Hispanic and African. He could be partially Indigenous partially Hispanic. He could he fully Indigenous for all we know.
So why do you want to make him white so bad? It's so frustrating.
There are barely any true POC main characters in a lot of medias, including Resident Evil, so why can't you just be happy that people are getting representation?
"B-B-BUT1!1!1! SPAIN IS EUROPEAN AND EUROPEAN IS WHITE! 1!1" Erm..! Not all the time, buddy.
There are hundreds of dark skin Europeans, mixed Europeans, and even native people's from all of the different and vast countries in Europe. And guess what? You'd still consider them European.
💥
WOE, A NON WHITE MAN UPON YE!!

In case some people need to be reminded of what the REAL Elvis sounded like 😒
Austin does not sound like Elvis! I'm sick and tired of people continuing to bring up this tired old topic over and over again, especially in 2024. 🙄
Austin's voice as an adult man has always been deep. In fact, I think Austin's voice is actually deeper than the real Elvis' voice was tbh. 👀
Also, he's admitted that he's a smoker, and that he may have damaged his vocal chords while prepping and filming for the singing portions of the Elvis role. Add on to that, he was in "Elvis mode" for like 3 years of his life. Sometimes, voice inflection sticks for a little while.
Actress Angela Bassett said that the same thing happened to her when she played Tina Turner in the "What's Love Got to Do With It" biopic. This actually happens more commonly to actors than people realize.
Tumblr media
Instead of having compassion and understanding for this man, many people online have resorted to being mean and have been out here bullying this poor guy to death about this nonsense "Elvis voice" thing since 2022.🙄 It's annoying, and not to mention, immature.
Austin's voice has always been deep and even slightly raspy, especially as he got older. Anyone who's watched "The Carrie Diaries" knows what I'm talking about lol. 😅
So I really wish that Hollywood, and people online would give this thing a rest. It's really not funny (never really was tbh), and Austin has already expressed that he's a little uncomfortable with the "Elvis voice" discourse. I wish people would leave him alone, recognize that it's not something he's put on, and just respect his feelings. 😔

bro I love clowning on BookTok and how silly stupid BookTok books and trends and tropes are, but I am sick and tired of this 'all BookTok is is porn' discourse.
Like it just reminds me of Twilight discourse, and it stinks of misogyny. Just let people read what they want??? It's not that hard to find a book YOU want to read and look the other way? It's not that hard to engage with BookTok content that can cater your FYP to YOUR book tastes? Also just stop demonizing porn/sex work and those that use those services? Because unless it's depicting something genuinely harmful/hateful/etc. then what does it matter? BookTok critics need to give readers more credit, tbh, because more often than not I feel like adults can differentiate what is real and what is fiction, and can distinguish what is or is not a toxic relationship but still engage with certain material because they like tropes, are exploring kinks, need escapism, etc.?
Like people waste so much time fretting over porn and spice in books. In that time you could have found a dozen more fantasy or sci-fi books that cater to your tastes! As an AroAce person who is discomforted by ideas of sex, I don't engage with smut or spicy books because it's not my cup of tea and I know my personal boundaries. That's it. I just go find books I WANT to read, then! It isn't rocket science! It's ok to not like smut or be uncomfortable with sex scenes/discussions about sex - it's ok! But to go and demonize those who DO like reading that kind of material is hella stupid.
If you really wanna have a discussion about the ick of BookTok then maybe discuss how toxic the publishing industry can be to its authors, especially authors of color, and how it expects authors to work like machines to pump out bestsellers, valuing quantity over quality, or discuss the harm of authors being in review spaces and how this leads to readers facing threats, doxxing, harassment, and then being too scared to share thoughts on books online.
You peeps waste more time worrying about spice and smut when you can just be whimsical and let people enjoy what they wanna enjoy.
Anyways,,,sorry if this is incoherent i'm just feeling VERY salty.

i don't want stupid internet discourse to make me bitter and jaded but tbh it's really hard when i have to constantly second guess the intentions of people who should reliably be my allies because so many of them are full on gleeful in their exclusion and cruelty to people like me. i was here when people did it to bisexuals i was here when people did it to ace people i was here when they did it to xenogenders and nondysphoric trans people and now i'm seeing people do it to transmascs and it's fucking tiring i'm so sick of it. how hard is it to not scapegoat members of our own fucking community?

Okk. I don't want to compare or anything but I don't get the people who's getting mad on Korn Tonkla scenes saying they had more screen time? Or shit. I mean tbh, I am understanding the plot of the series better because of the two of them because they are somehow related to all of the events. And Tonkla's situation is...... he somehow senses the other timeline which I think is an important role. And also, Korn! Like what you've said he knows Dome is dead, and at the same time he's with his brother who ’saved’ Dome. Both of the characters are pivotal in the series.
Also, I think that they are more talked about because a Bas and Fuaiz couple was not expected in the series, and at the same time their plot line is really good as well as the build up of their characters. And I've seen more & more people are falling in love with Fuaiz & Bas (as an actor) in this series.
But somehow, I get them because the main couple is GreatTyme but why does it feel like they are becoming more of a side couple. Also saw people saying that their ’plot line’ or how they were introduced to eo /wasn't it./
Thank you for giving me the incentive to speak about this issue, anon. I'm going to do it now because the new episode will come out in a few hours and hopefully I won't have to do this ever again - which I honestly doubt but anyway. Since I haven't seen this type of discourse pop up on Tumblr (thank GOD), I'd like to inform everyone that over on Twitter, there have been massive complaints about Tonkla, aka Fuaiz, getting more screentime than the main characters, aka JesBible, to the point of people tagging BOC in posts and demanding they give them more scenes with TymeGreat - as if BOC can just pull footage they haven't filmed out of their ass or something. It got so bad that Sammon herself saw them and AGREED with these people, further explaining how it was important for some plot elements to be explored now, in order for the rest of the series to make sense. Now, with all due respect to her position as a screenwriter: she's factually wrong here. Someone on Twitter actually sat down and counted the minutes each character is on screen and came out with these results:
Tumblr media
It's not in English, but I believe the results are clear: Tonkla doesn't even come close to Great's screentime. He's a little closer to Tyme's, but the main character is Great, so he's the one we should be looking at. Also, in case it hasn't been fucking obvious, Tonkla is an essential character in 4 Minutes, which is why we're getting many scenes with him. The reason I mentioned the actors is pretty self-explanatory - people are mad their favourite actors are shown a specific amount of time, giving space to other plot lines and characters, instead of being there for the whole episode, as if the point of 4 Minutes is the romance between Tyme and Great and nothing else. Meanwhile, Bible himself was laughing and clapping and enjoying the flashback scene between Korn and Tonkla when they had their first time, because Bible wanted to be part of a good production, which he is and he recognizes it. But no, God forbid we get more context over KornTonkla, which is one of the most important relationships in the show, which guides Tonkla's actions, which moves the fucking PLOT of the SHOW. I could give the benefit of the doubt to people being upset Tonkla was shown for not even half of episode 4, but I won't, and the reason for that is because I'm sick and fucking tired of people getting their panties in a twist because a character who loves getting fucked is actually getting fucked in almost every episode. Good for him honestly, even if it's making him worse. (I've already ranted about this whole thing here, I'm not going to repeat myself) I don't know how your social media feeds are like anon, but mine are flooded with BibleJes + GreatTyme content and I rarely see anything about KornTonkla or Bas and Fuaiz or anything of the sort, so I can't agree with you that they're more talked about than the main actors/characters. (That's not the case on Tumblr though: I have a very varied feed + my lovely anon asks which give me the chance to talk about my boys and I'm thankful for that.) And I'm sorry, anon, but I'm going to have to disagree with you in the end: Great and Tyme do NOT feel like the side couple at all. They are and they feel very much like the main couple and they've had multiple scenes together in every single episode so far (at the hospital, in Great's garage, at the park, at the university, at the arcade, inside Great's car, at the rooftop of the hospital, at the warehouse, inside the tent etc). We've gotten plenty of fucking content for them AND also BOC has made sure to give Bible and Jes the chance to do a million interviews together + magazine photoshoots, with only half of the show being done, so fans have zero fucking reason to complain about anything. That's all. Rant over.

Yeah I come from twitter and like, it’s so disheartening tbh. People are demanding things out of people who don’t normally talk about politics. For example, they are demanding things out of Roier, Iron Mouse and Quackity. And they say it’s “oh it’s because we are concerned for them, if they use their platform more people will know!!” Well yes, that is true but there’s a slippery slope between asking for help and harassing CC’s so you can have a morality high ground. People are already shitting on Roier because he commented on fanart instead of rting. Like dude, give him a moment he probably doesn’t know anything that’s happening. And when people try to say this, to give CC’s space to learn, your called a Zionist and get immediately blasted. “It’s a genocide! They should use their platform, their silence is deafening” <<<<legit words I’ve seen. I’ve seen people immediately drop CC’s and said that anyone who likes said CC’s is a horrible person.
yes it's ridiculous to demand every single cc talk about this or that they need to use their platforms to raise awareness about the issue-- this genocide has been the biggest news and politics conversation topic for the last several months since october. awareness has been made, there is no one on the internet rn unaware of the conflict (which, yes, it is a conflict, that does not make it not also a genocide). it is completely unavoidable, so unless you live under a literal rock there is no way you're gonna learn about it from some twitch streamer. and so roier or whoever tweeting about it does not make anyone more aware than they were before. also roier is sick, as is mouse, and quackity does not talk about politics, never has, and never will, so expecting that is ridiculous.
it's ridiculous regardless-- like doc brought up, this shit is blatant virtue signalling and i'm tired of it. it is not every single cc's responsibility to tell you how to feel about an issue or to speak out every time something terrible happens, and frankly it is not your business what they do in support of it or not in private so long as they don't act like a shithead. any of these creators could be donating a ton of money behind the scenes and just not speaking about it because that's not necessary, or they could not be and frankly i don't care either way. content creators do not exist to be twitter users' perfect idols of morality and expecting that of them is ridiculous and clearly all about you (not you specifically anon, the general you of stupid twitter users) and how you desperately need every creator you watch to have the exact morally agreed upon beliefs or else they're morally bereft and so are you.
if a cc acts shitty or says something off, sure, kindly point out where they've gone wrong or, if you don't feel like watching them anymore, don't, but don't act like their head belongs on a guillotine because they haven't talked about/aren't aware of every tragedy going on in the world right now. like you said, people are treating it like a moral high ground rather than the serious political issue that it is. and if you want a cc who's super informed about politics and is raising money for palestine and talking about it a bunch, go watch hasan ffs. maybe you'll actually learn something for once.
anyway everyone stay the fuck off twitter and stop engaging in this kind of guilt trippy bullshit.

look i just
i am so fucking sick of people trying to prove that something i enjoy is actually 'immoral' and how im a horrible person for liking it. if i geninually thought skid's dad was creeping on lila, i wouldnt be shipping it. but i very strongly believe that skiddad was only included in the photo to show that he was immortal, NOT that he knew lila as a child. i could be proven wrong and tbh in that case there is a chance i may consider leaving the fandom because i really do not think i can take pelo casually turning this incredibly interesting character (that i frankly have a very close attachment to) into a pedo for no reason. i'm just tired tbh.😭 (ps i am NOT at all mad at you or anyone specifically your completly fine! i'm just overall upset at the idea itself, not any person)
This entire thing just makes me glad SU was released when it was because if it was released today people would absolutely be discoursing about the age difference between Greg and Rose, hell probably even Pearl and Mystery Girl despite how inconsequential she turned out to be /silly
Onto the actual point. Yeah. I remember liking Skid/Pump back in the early days in the fandom where even drawing them holding hands would get people calling you a predator, so I can absolutely relate. It just Sucks man

The hate for Beelzebub's design is so embarrassing. Ya'll know Viv's artstyle, what the fuck did you expect? If ya don't like her style, then just leave and make your own shit. So tired of that stuff tbh. Criticism I can understand is maybe stuff like "looks too busy" or "hard to concentrate on", heck even "I kinda thought Bee would be fatter/thicker" but the "She hates fat ppl" "Fatphobia" accusations are just whiny and annoying. Cry a river, build a bridge, get over it, and then run to MtCandy
I really thought people were over it by now, especially since I've seen some people try to make 'Moxxie's being forced to crossdress' into the next bit of discourse in relation to this Saturday's new episode.
Even though anyone who has followed Helluva Boss and has more than two braincells to rub together knows that Moxxie is a theater-baby and has gladly crossdressed on several other occasions.
But YouTube tried recommending me a video and, since I was doing something else and didn't scroll fast enough, the autoplay started and it was basically saying 'Viv can't take criticism, look at some of these comments she made in response to the Bee backlash'.
But, in reality, it's giving 'people on the internet love talking shit about other people's work but when said creators finally get sick of it and respond with the same attitude, then it's a problem'.
Again, this is why, as much of a shitshow as my first year of teaching was, I did take away the importance of 'for every negative you bring up, you have to offset it with two positives' in regards to critique and review.
Because if you are criticizing something in good faith, reviewing something in good faith, you are doing so in the hopes that said thing can be better. That is part of the definitions of 'critique' and 'review'.
If you just want to obnoxiously prattle on because you think you know better when it's more than obvious that you 'hate popular thing and don't know how to curate your online experience' or 'are an Indie creator who doesn't know how to promote their work so you jump in everytime people make up a reason to be mad at the funny demon show'... Then you should be treated as such.

7, 8, 22, 24, 25 for the choose violence asks <3
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
none bc i don't let fandom affect my enjoyment of the things i love and enjoy. if something bothers me i will block/blacklist/filter it out in no time.
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
honestly i can't think of anything right now bc like. there's so many of them tbh. like genuinely, i think the reason I went on that massive unfollow spree was bc of things like this.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
season 1 as a whole mostly.
24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
eddie's sexuality & queerbaiting. very very tired of both and it's something i will just not engage in.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
look at my answer above; queerbaiting. the show isn't doing it. it doesn't matter if you feel like it is. it has never queerbaited you. you've done that to yourself lol but yeah that.
🔥 choose violence ask game 🔥

sorry im sure you're sick and tired of the dadbur discourse but.. imo dsmp!"dadbur" only exists in the same complicated way that an older sibling becomes the second-or-third parent to their younger sibling. like you know, one day your little brother says something like "cause that's what Wilbur's always told me" and you realize that you're Raising This Kid, but it's scary and you're bad at it because you're barely an adult yourself. sure cwilbur "raised" ctommy, but only in the same way the older brother has to pick up the slack on absent parents, ya know? its like supernatural sam and dean tbh sorry (right down to the codependency and Toxic Relationship)
Everything on this damn website eventually circles back to Supernatural.

Am i the only masochist who even if im tired of the discourses around all of this cannot stop reading it? Like I should go out touch some grass but this is consuming in such an addictive and hurtful way, im so so sick of the internet
Sorry for venting i love hearing discourses around these topics and hear opinions but idk why im here if it hurts me so much
It’s tricky business tbh. Cuz on the one hand these conversations are important for all of our brains. It can be shitty to consume media uncritically. But also sometimes online we fixate so much and for so long it starts to feel like every issue we’re yapping about is so big and important. Then you go outside with real people and you touch some grass it’s realize how irrelevant it all is hahaha. It’s good to balance both. You wanna stay informed and exercise critical thinking but not turn into the woke police where everything is offensive and cancelable.
It’s definitely hard! I get caught up in shit all the time.

Why are people writing entire thesis defending (or against) Vanessa and her relationship with Austin? It was ages ago and honestly, they’ve both moved on. Yes, it’s a stark contrast to his current relationship, but why is so much attention paid to this discourse, whether pro or against?
Shouldn’t we all just focus on his career and ignore the other stuff? It’s getting tiresome, tbh.
Tumblr media
I totally agree. 💯
In answer to your question, I think some fans are just sick and tired of Kaustin shippers villain-izing Vanessa, and/or Austin's relationship with her.
I also think that some fans (myself included), are tired of Kaustin shippers idolizing their sad-looking relationship, and instead show photos of how Austin was with Vanessa (or Lily) in order to show the stark contrast between Austin's behavior with those two women, vs his behavior with Kaia. I think some shippers are upset by that.
I have usually kept silent on some of the past relationship talk, but lately, I've just been sick and tired of seeing shippers constantly trying to crap on Vanessa and Austin's previous relationship with her, in order to build up his relationship with the Gerber Baby. 🙄 To me, it is not even necessary. I'm not even a fan of Vanessa like that, but even I recognize that shippers are being extra.
Either way you slice it, Vanessa was a huge period of time in Austin's life, and so if she's brought up once in a while, then that's not unusual? So far, she is Austin's longest, serious, adult relationship, so to me, it's not strange that there might be tons of pictures of him with her floating around out there, and that she might be brought up in asks at some point in time. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Austin himself brings up Vanessa, sometimes even unprompted, during the Elvis press tour. It's gonna happen. He was with her for nearly a decade. You can't just go back and erase that period of your life.
If Tom and Zendaya were to break up tomorrow, do you honestly think that fans would just stop talking about them cold turkey even years later? Let's be honest! They've been together for like 8 years by now. There's a whole Tomdaya history there. You can't just erase all of that. And I don't think their fans would need to just ignore their years of history together like it never happened just because they broke up either.
I agree with you though, Austin is SO much more than his relationships, and we don't need to harp on them incessantly. 🥰❤️

Rant time (feel free to ignore)
Fandom capitalism is hell and I hate my own relationship to it especially.
I barely ever use this space to blog, because I don't fucking know how to blog tbh, and because my unhealthy conflict avoidance makes me scared to say anything ever, but sometimes I wake up sick and in a mood the day after being excited about things and, well, ugh.
I feel like I'm forever stuck between trying to do the things (art mostly) that is going to be popular and fun to other people and wanting to do my own obscure stuff but being too scared/embarrassed/prideful to actually do it. I fail at the popular stuff because I don't want to be drawing memes or things that aren't going to be fun to me, but I still want, like, the praise or something.
Every so often I tell myself I'm going to get my shit together and actually try to earn some kind of money from my art, but I think that would actually kill my mental health. Because even in fandom where I'm doing it all for free, I end up hating it. Everything is about engagement and self promotion (seriously, how many of your discord servers have channels named "self promo"?). When did sharing art/fic become self-promoting? We can rant all we want about the likes/reblog ratio and all that, but it's not the root of the problem here.
And yes, I still want it. I still want the attention, I still want people to like my art, and I end up drawing things I barely enjoy in (failed) hopes of attracting it. The truth is, I'm really bad at interacting with people and making friends, so my main way of being in fandom is throwing stuff I make out to all of you and hope that something might come back to me, and when nothing does, it hurts.
I want to be shameless on this blog and actually discuss things with people and post my random thoughts and ramble about my writing/art, but then I just get scared of discourse and purity culture and all that shit and I'm just tired.
Yeah, not going anywhere with this, just tired.
(To be clear: this isn't about something in particular, just thoughts percolating in my head on a bad morning)
