Lights, Camera, Action
Pairing: Idol!Taemin x Photographer!OC
Summary: Jiwoo and Taemin have been married for a whole decade. They both debuted in SHINee. As SHINee approached their 15th anniversary Jiwoo started pursuing photography.
Who'd be a better guinea pig model than her own husband?
cw/tw: fluff, cute, praising, suggestive, kissing
Note: I'm obsessed with Taemin lately. Why I don't know. But he's so handsome and pretty, and gorgeous, and sexy and- yeah
''Taeminie my babyyy~'' Jiwoo walked through the front door with a sweet smile on her lips.
Taemin, sitting on the couch, looked up from the book he was reading and raised a knowing eyebrow. ''Yes, my dearest wife? What are you gonna subject me to this time?''
Jiwoo smiled and walked over to the couch. She wrapped her arms around his neck and looked down at him with a pleading smile.
Taemin knew that smile very well. Whenever she wanted him to do something she'd smile like that.
''You know how I've been taking photography classes, right baby?'' Taemin nodded. ''Right, so this week's assignment was to photograph something sexy... so I thought who's better for the job than the Lee Taemin?''
Taemin chuckled as he leaned his head against the back rest. He looked up at Jiwoo, who was already looking down at him and pursed his lips.
Jiwoo leaned down and kissed his lips sweetly.
''Will you please help me, baby?'' Jiwoo fluttered her eyelashes sweetly.
''I can't, and you know I can't. I told you this morning. And I know you know since you call be "baby". I have to go to the dance studio and work on the "Guilty" choreography. I would help you if I-''
Jiwoo pouted. ''Pretty please?''
Taemin chuckled. ''I don't have ti-''
''Pretty please with sugar on top?! If you loved me-'' Taemin raised an eyebrow. ''-you would help me''
Taemin sighed. ''You're annoying''
''I know. And since you won't help me, I'm calling Minho'' Taemin nodded for her to go on.
So she did.
She found her phone and found Minho's contact. She pressed his contact and put it on speaker phone. Taemin just sat there.
''Jiwoo! My favorite Lee! 'Sup?''
Taemin glared at the phone. ''What do you mean "favorite Lee?!" I thought it was me!''
In the background Jiwoo and Taemin heard Onew cursing at Minho for calling someone else his favroite Lee.
''Too bad, you ain't. And neither are you, Hyung! Now, how can I help my favorite Lee''
''So, for my photography classes I have to photograph something sexy, and Taemin's an ass and won't help me, so would you like to be my sexy model? Maybe something shirtless, or maybe-''
Taemin grabbed Jiwoo's phone from her hands and glared at his wife. ''Buh-bye Hyung, we don't need you''
''Goodbye, see you tom-''
Jiwoo laughed loudly as Taemin ended the call in the middle of Minho's sentence. He chucked her phone behind his shoulder. He turned to his wife and raised an eyebrow.
''You're a bully''
''So you'll help me?'' Jiwoo smiled sweetly.
Taemin sighed loudly. ''Fine! I'll call Noona and tell her practice is off'' He picked up his own phone. ''You're lucky I love you'' He mumbled a pouty tone.
As he ended the call, telling "Noona" he was sick and couldn't dance today. "Noona" didn't believe him for a single second, but she let it slide this time.
She did however warn him if he repeated this she would come to their apartment and drag him to the dance studio herself.
''Now, back to your little rendezvous, do we have any studio lights? Or any equipment at all?''
Jiwoo's sweet, kiss-ass look, switched into a sheepish look. ''I might have bought a camera, studio lights and all that before asking you''
''Why?''
''I just- my backup plan was Minho, I knew he would accept without a fight'' Jiwoo smirked as she headed out the door to get the stuff she bought.
Taemin gasped dramatically. ''How dare you even think of Minho as a backup?'' His wife simply smiled and kissed his cheek.
After they'd set up all the different lights and cameras, and props and whatnot that Jiwoo had brought home, in the bathroom, the woman turned to her husband with a smirk.
''And now, you. We gotta change all...'' Jiwoo moved her hands around her husband's body. ''...this''
''What? I look sexy as I am'' Taemin raised an eyebrow.
''Well that I won't deny. But! This is not what I invisioned...'' She motioned to his oversized hoodie and sweatpants. ''I was thinking that it could fit with your upcoming comeback... so I might have got you a completely new outfit''
She dug out a white tank-top, a pair of white boxers and a pair of blue, baggy (jeans) pants. Taemin reluctantly took the clothes and changed out of his sweatpants and hoodie.
As he showed the outfit to Jiwoo she held up a finger. She started pulling and adjusting his pants. She could feel Taemin's smirk on his lips as her hands brushed past his lower stomach.
''Shut up'' She mumbled and continued her adjusting.
''I didn't say anything!'' Taemin exclaimed and placed his hands on his hips.
Jiwoo ignored him and stepped back. She looked him up and down. He posed jokingly and Jiwoo chuckled.
Jiwoo stood him in front of the bathroom. ''Let's... add a bit of choreo to the photo. Right hand under shirt, show off your stomach. You know, the key move''
Taemin smirked. ''If you wanted me naked you should've just asked, baby''
''Ha. Ha'' Jiwoo laughed sarcastically and loooked at her husband with a forced smile. ''Pose, asshole''
''Yes, ma'am!'' Taemin saluted her and did as she'd wished. ''Lights, camera, action''
Jiwoo stared at him for a moment. ''You're such a weirdo'' Taemin flashed a dorky smile.
Jiwoo continued staring at Taemin as he did the pose she requested. It looked good, but not enough. ''Head down. Hand around your neck''
Taemin did as instructed.
This was another reason as to why Jiwoo wanted to work with her own husband, he'd been in the industry for so long. He knew exactly how to pose, he followed instructions well and he was naturally sexy.
Perfect sexy model.
Jiwoo snapped a few pictures of Taemin in that pose, altering some small things. When she was satisfied with it she showed it to model himself.
''Wow, I look good'' Jiwoo chuckled. ''What are you laughing at? I look sexy. Who knows, maybe these will be my concept photos? You're good at this''
Jiwoo blushed as he praised her. ''You really think that?''
Taemin nodded and hugged her tightly. ''The best! Now, next pose!''
The afternoon continued. Taemin posed as Jiwoo instructed. It started professionally, Taemin answered Jiwoo being very serious about the whole thing.
Then it slowly turned into Taemin doing as he wished and Jiwoo accepting it.
After almost 3 hours of snapping photos they decided to wrap it up.
''I'm gonna edit these a bit. Then you can see them''
Taemin pouted. ''I wanna see them now!''
Jiwoo raised an eyebrow. ''Taemin, sweetie, you're 30, not a toddler. You'll see them when I'm done''
''Okay...''
However, editing proved to be difficult when you had a 30 year old husband who decided he needed attention at this exact moment.
Jiwoo was trying to edit the pictures she seemed to be the best ones. Taemin sat behind her on the bed, legs on each side of her body, arms around her waist as he watched her edit.
His shin rested on her shoulder as she tapped away on the computer.
Taemin's attention span was about the same as a 5 year old, on a sugar high.
His fingers started tapping a rhythm on Jiwoo's thighs and he started humming to himself. Jiwoo turned around and raised an eyebrow. She'd told him if he wanted to sit here. Silence.
He quickly stopped.
But then his attention started wearing thin again. He found a hairbrush ans some hair ties Jiwoo had laying around.
He carefully started brushing Jiwoo's hair and braiding it. Jiwoo stopped her editing and turned around. She smiled.
''You really have no patience. You're like a five year old'' Jiwoo examined the braid. It was good.
''Yet you love me. Besides, if I was a five year old, wouldn't that make you a predator?''
Jiwoo raised her eyebrow. ''Ha. Ha''
''I'll go cook or something. Have a good editing session''
''Love you!'' Jiwoo yelled through the house as Taemin bounced down the stairs.
''Love you more!''
After Jiwoo'd edited the photos she headed into the kitchen to show Taemin.
Taemin, who was making tteokbokki, was amazed.
''My wife's so talented! And I'm much more sexy than Minho-Hyung would ever be''
Jiwoo chuckled and patted his cheek. ''That's your opinion''
''Whatever. You and I both know I'm speaking facts. Now, I think these are perfect for my concept photos this comeback. And I'm saving money if use my lovely wife's hard labor''
''Who said I'm free?'' Jiwoo raised an eyebrow and placed her hands on her hips. ''I'm an expensive bitch''
''Well... expensive? Yes. But bitch? No. What do you want as pay? I could think of a few things I know you'd like'' Taemin smirked as he placed his own hands on Jiwoo's.
Jiwoo chuckled and shook her head. ''You're such a pervert''
Taemin couldn't see the problem. She wanted pay. He had something to pay with. Which they'd both enjoy.
''Besides. I have to send these in for class and-''
Before Jiwoo could finish her sentence Taemin pressed his lips against hers. Jiwoo giggled as he pulled away.
''You talk too much sometimes''
''And you have too little patience. Your tteok is burning'' Jiwoo pointed at the pan, which smoked a bit more than it should've.
Taemin turned around and spotted the pan. He quickly moved it from the heat. He smiled awkwardly as he turned back to his wife.
''It's not burnt. It just... on the verge of burning. Want some?''
Jiwoo smiled. He was so cute. And he tried cooking. Which he rarely did. ''Of course I will''
As they are Taemin's half-burnt creation Taemin smirked. ''Next time you should do a budoir photoshoot''
Jiwoo choked on the food. ''Lee Taemin!? WHAT THE FUCK!?''
''What? It was just an idea! I'm sexy. You're a great photographer. And...''
''You just want a reason to get naked'' Jiwoo deadpanned him. ''And don't even deny it, you're... you''
''Oh baby. If I wanted to be naked I'd be naked'' He winked and continued eating his food.
''Fuck you, Lee Taemin''
''Anytime, baby''

SHINee ANNIVERSARY D-DAY Q&A
How do you feel about the 15th anniversary?
ONEW: It's amazing to think that 15 years went by really quickly, and I'm proud that I've experienced and challenged so many things while working as SHINee.
KEY: The 15th anniversary of our debut, this day has really come. It feels really new.
MINHO: It might sound a little obvious, but it really doesn't feel real. I am just thankful and happy that my dream that started when I was a high school student continues.
TAEMIN: I'm really looking forward to our comeback after a long time. When did time go by like this...I'm surprised whenever I hear that it's our 15th anniversary!(laughs)
What was the most memorable activity or the most memorable moment with the fans?
ONEW: The time when I lived in the dorm with the members. And the performances that received your support are always in my heart.
KEY: Since our debut, all the anniversaries, fan meetings, concerts, etc. are precious and vivid.
MINHO: It's hard to pick one because I have so many memories, but if I have to pick one, it's a concert.
I remember all the concerts. Each and every performance that I made as one with SHINee World is precious and I feel overwhelmed and excited just by thinking about it.
TAEMIN: Every performance is precious, but what comes to mind immediately reminds me of the first Tokyo Dome stage in 2015, the largest of our solo concerts.
Why is SHINee loved since long time?
ONEW: I think it's sincerity. All the members always work hard!
KEY: There's an expectation given by the name "SHINee," and I think they're looking forward to seeing us all working hard to meet that expectation.
MINHO: You always think of me as doing my best, so I'm always thankful. Of course, it's the same for all artists, but SHINee is a team that puts everything into the stage. I think our fans are very loyal. There are a lot of people who have seen our growth period, so I think they will keep SHINee in their hearts like memories from their school days.
What do you think is "SHINee-like"?
ONEW: I think it's different. I'm always thankful that many people say, "It's different if SHINee does it."
KEY: I think it's 'Always looking for something new = SHINee'
MINHO: The word 'contemporary band' has a lot of power.
I think it's the most SHINee-like part that always presents new things and challenges.
TAEMIN: Members with strong personality like rainbows are united but harmonious. That's SHINee.
You're holding a fan meeting to celebrate your 15th debut anniversary. What are you looking forward to the most?
ONEW: Since it's been a while since we've met our fans as SHINee, I'm most curious and looking forward to what we're going to talk about.
KEY: It's been a while since SHINee and SHINee World got together!Just imagining it makes my heart flutter.I can't wait for that day.
MINHO: I'm really looking forward to making another memory with SHINee World. It's been a while since we've been together, so I'm looking forward to your support.I heard there's a Q&A session with the fans, so I'm curious about what you're curious about. (laughs)
TAEMIN: I'm really looking forward to meeting the fans, and I want to show you all the performances that I haven't shown you in person for the past few years.
If you could give a spoiler about your new album this year in one word or sentence?
ONEW: A new chapter.
KEY: Be nervous!
MINHO: Strong and firm SHINee.
TAEMIN: New SHINee.
SHINee's dream, SHINee's goal ?
Onew: To be together. With the members and SHINee World.
Key: SHINee won't be complacent and will continue to move forward.
MINHO: I want to achieve more things with the members and SHINee World in the future.I think SHINee just started.I want to talk more with each other and make a better stage.
Taemin: Always healthy and repaying the fans with gratitude. That's my goal
Please say something to SHINee World who has been with us for 15 years.
ONEW: Thank you for always being with us.I hope we can continue to make happy and beautiful memories for each other. I love you.
Key: I don't know how to thank you.Thank you for believing in me, I believe in you, and I'll work harder.Thank you very much.Time is always fast and sometimes slow, but I want to always be with you, whether it's a good day or a bad day.
Minho: Thank you so much, it's not enough to express it in any words. We'll repay you for that gratitude.Once again, thank you so much and I love you.
TAEMIN: Thank you so much SHINee World for making us special.

✨SHINee for ELLE MEN / Elle Japan April issue
“We will keep on shining through the future”
Photoshoot and interview in collaboration with luxury jewelry brand “Boucheron”.
(All active members’ interviews included)
-KEY-
— Please tell us about the appeal of the Quatre Collection and your impression of the jewelry you wore.
Key: Actually, I have a Quatre ring. I wear it regularly when I go out to high-class restaurants, and I came across a Quatre while looking for a luxurious and classic ring. The bracelet I wore today was also very cute and impressive.
— What do you keep in mind while wearing a luxury jewel?
Key: It’s important to match yourself. Like today, it’s nice to have a mixed style that goes with your daily styling.
— Has the way you wear jewelry changed since your debut?
Key: What has changed is that now that I’m an adult, I can enjoy luxury brands like Boucheron! I think the one thing that hasn’t changed is that I enjoy mixing things with different tastes in my own way.
— What kind of place is Tokyo Dome for you?
Key: In the past, it used to be like an “unreachable future” for us. But thanks to our fans, the dome concerts were realized sooner than we expected. Even now, I will not forget how I felt at that moment and stand on stage again.
(Key’s comment on the jewelry)
“I also like the fact that the Quatre looks different depending on the color, such as the red one I wore today”.
- Bonus interview - (only in the website)
— How do you feel now that you have resumed group activities and completed the Japan tour with great success?
Key: Even before the end of COVID19, was always thinking than I wanted to work in Japan like I used to, and go around the country and perform live like everything is normal. Japanese fans kept asking me: “When will there be a Japan tour?” at online fansigns events, and each time I said “I want to do it too!”… But in the blink of an eye it was already over. Our long-awaited tour is reaching its final day. (laughs)
Oh, this was it after all. It’s been 5 years since the last tour and a lot has changed since then, so I was worried if they would come back (for the tour) again.
— So the Tokyo Dome performances were decided, also to eliminate these concerns
Key: I really appreciate it. I’m grateful. It’s been a long time since we’ve toured Japan, but when we did it... Nothing different from before. I think what has changed is that the members’ Japanese has become better (laughs). I’ve been performing in Japan for about 2 years, but at that time no one could scream because of the coronavirus pandemic. I was sad that there was only applauses, so I feel like I’m completely back on this tour.
— This time, the shoot was in collaboration with Boucheron jewelry. What does jewelry mean to you?
Key: In Korea, jewelry is always included on important events. When a child is born, when a couple gets married, how many days of a couple’s anniversary, etc. I have this image of jewelry being always by your side on important days.
It seems that junior groups often buy friendship items such as team jewelry with their members. I didn’t have that kind of culture at my time... Because each person has a different taste, right? But if I have a chance, I would like to try it in the future. I’d like a necklace or something that I can keep on wearing. However, it seems that it’s difficult for all the members to find something that they like (laughs).
- MINHO -
— Please tell us about the appeal of the Quatre Collection and your impression of the jewelry you wore.
Minho: Last year, SHINee celebrated the 15th anniversary in Korea. The 20 years Quatre Collection is more senior, but I felt a sense of unity that we have experienced the same number of years.
— How do you feel when you wear a luxury jewelry?
Minho: I’ve recently started to take an interest in jewelry, so I feel good when I wear it. I’m not sure if I’ve changed because I’ve grown up (laughs). In the future, I may be more attracted to gorgeous things like the ones I wore today.
— Has the way you wear jewelry changed since your debut?
Minho: I was in high school when I made my debut, so I think there were some things that didn’t suit me at the time. But now that I’m over 30 years old, I feel like the range of items I can wear, including clothes and jewelry, has expanded.
— Please tell us how you felt about resuming group activities in Japan last year after a long time.
Minho: I realized that I missed being on stage more than I had ever imagined. Seeing everyone’s faces and hearing their voices made me feel even more grateful.
(Minho’s comment on the jewelry)
“My favorite item is the black ring. It’s good since it has a casual feel without being too assertive”.
- Bonus interview - (only in the website)
— How was the first Japan tour after a long time?
Minho: I always have fond memories of the tours. For example, there were times when it was hot and cold, and there were times when we celebrated my birthday… So, when there were no concerts, I often caught myself thinking: “Oh, normally I would be touring in Japan this time…”. So when I performed for the first time in a long time, I felt a really big sense of gratitude for the fans. I was really happy to see that the whole venue was waiting for us.
— So what do you think about finishing the tour at Tokyo Dome?
Minho: After all, no matter how many times we experience it, Tokyo Dome is a dream stage for us. I’ll always remember when we always wanted to stand there on our own and worked hard to achieve it. It’s often said that there are feelings that only those who stand on the stage of the Tokyo Dome can understand, and I think it’s true.
— On the tour, all the members talk in Japanese during MCs. How do you study Japanese?
Minho: I watch a lot of Japanese animes, movies, and dramas, and I was able to improve my listening comprehension. The audio is Japanese and subtitles are Korean. The one I watched recently was “First Love” (Netflix series).
— You are also focusing on acting. Are there any roles you would like to try in the future?
Minho: I try not to say “I want to try this genre” because I feel like that would limit the possibilities. I think that if I told people “This is what I want to do”, other works won’t come at me. I’m looking forward to playing many different roles, so please look forward to it!
- TAEMIN -
— Please tell us about the appeal of the Quatre Collection and your impression of the jewelry you wore.
Taemin: It’s wonderful that the concept of Quatre is clearly visible in each of the items. I think it’s great that you can tell at a glance that it’s a Boucheron collection. I wanted to try them for important shoots or when wearing a suit.
— How was it to have a photoshoot wearing luxurious jewelry?
Taemin: I wanted to express the luxury and attitude of the brand in my own way, so I tried to be conscious of a cool and calm atmosphere instead of moving flashy.
— Has the way you wear jewelry changed since your debut?
Taemin: In the past, I didn’t wear jewelry at all because I felt that they didn’t look good on me, but now I enjoy wearing watches and necklaces. I feel that using them as a point, I can create a mature atmosphere.
— Please tell us how you felt about resuming group activities in Japan last year after a long time.
Taemin: It was a long awaited activity, and I want to take care of myself and run through to Tokyo Dome, the last concert of our tour. I would like to use my individual activities as a strength and do my best in group activities.
(Taemin’s comment on the jewelry)
“For stage costumes, I wear flashy accessories as much as I can, but I usually like to enjoy jewelry with basic designs in a point-like way, so I wore the same pair of earrings all the time. I don’t care about memorial days, I pick them up when I want a fashionable item.”
- Bonus interview - (only in the website)
— How was the first Japan tour after a long time?
Taemin: I was finally able to work again. I think the activities with SHINee have given me strength in my individual activities. I think we were able to work on the tour a little more relaxed than we did in the past. When I was practicing the first songs, I couldn’t remember the choreographies, so it was fun to get together with the members and remember them.
— The talk on MCs was done all in Japanese, right?
Taemin: This time, I stayed in Japan for a long time on tour, so I got used to Japanese a little... I’m still not good at it, but even for MC, I can now express myself in many ways in Japanese. I couldn’t come to Japan for a while, so I forgot about it. In the past, there should have been more words and expressions that I knew more... (laughs).
— I think Tokyo Dome is also a place of memories. Do you remember standing in the dome in the past?
Taemin: Yes, I do. When the dome was decided this time, I was reminded of the time when we had worked hard to prepare for it. Of course, the same enthusiasm from before is also felt this time, and I’m sure that the audience will come to see the dome with a special meaning. In terms of distance, it’s harder to see us in the dome than in the arena or hall. But the dome is special. After all, that scenery with the green fanlights is wonderful.
— After COVID19 ended, the life between Korea and Japan and many other countries began again. Did you discover anything new after staying in Japan for the first time in a long time?
Taemin: I feel that there are so many people who really love K-Pop. At the time of our debut, for example, we had no choice but to perform at the dome alone, but now we are in a situation where Korean awards are held at the Dome, which is a very strange feeling. I used to feel like I would come to Japan to meet my fans, but now I feel that the situation of Japanese fans who love K-Pop as a whole is different from the past. As a result, I would like to deepen my bond with the fans even more. I think we have gained so much popularity in Japan thanks to the influence of TVXQ and BoA, and I hope SHINee can contribute something to this new era.
“Our activities in Japan are even more fulfilling. We will continue to be a shining group.”
SHINee is holding their first Japan tour in about 5 years, and they’re working back and forth between Korea and Japan as before. They seem to enjoy their stay in Japan in their own style.
Key: Recently, I have been making restaurant reservations myself and enjoying delicious meals with my friends in Japan. Natural wine is popular here, just like in Korea. I’ve always liked convenience stores, so I’ll go there even just by myself. I love the Napolitan (Ketchup spaghetti) from Japanese convenience stores (laughs).
Minho: I also started to go out and enjoy my meals more slowly than before. Recently, it has become popular among Koreans to enjoy sushi and tempura at “omakase” restaurants, but when it comes to yakitori (chicken skewers), Japan is the best.
Regarding the changes from the past, Taemin said: “I feel that there are so many people that fell in love with K-Pop”.
SHINee has become a role model for the 5th generation of K-pop groups.
Key: Even when I was competing in MMA and other awards, I was surprised to see my juniors cheering me on. There was a time when BoA and other seniors were there, I think that we, who followed in the footsteps, are like a bridge allowing a connection with juniors. I feel that we should all protect K-Pop and work hard together.
Taemin: Instead of just creating contents to be consumed, we have performed in Japan many times in order to be loved by our fans, we’ve been working with the goal of creating bonds.
Minho: We were able to show that we could be active for a long time, so this may have had a good influence on our juniors.
Last year, they celebrated their 15th debut anniversary in Korea. They have been collecting light while overcoming barriers, and they will surely continue to shine even more brightly in the future, working hand in hand with their fans.
Minho: We would like to continue our activities as a group and show our diverse sides. Personally, I would like to take on the challenge of a variety of works as an actor.
Taemin: We want to continue to be loved as a team called SHINee. I want each member to take care of their health, achieve their own goals and succeed. So we can do more powerful activities when we get together as a group. I feel the happiest when I’m on the stage, so I’d like to do more solo tours with new concepts.
Key: 15 years is a long time, but I still have a lot of memories, and it feels like in the blink of an eye I’m already sitting here. I will continue to take care of my health and do my best in the work. I believe that this will naturally lead me to the next great work.

Taemin leaving SM; a retrospective rant from a severely uneducated and overly caffeinated fan.
I have thoughts about Taemin leaving SM and by extention Onew too. Might as well drag Minho and Key into this.
Since this is majorly about Taemin, let's talk about him first.
Taemin & SM (pre-NGDA era)
Taemin has been with the company for 16 years, closer to 19 if you count his trainee days. As an older shawol (LLO-era, got me whipped BAD), it was seriously out of the blue that Taemin would be the first to debut solo. SM at the time (i.e in their prime) was a vocal powerhouse and I genuinely thought Jonghyun would be the first one to go solo. SM made the right decision dedicating time and resources in letting him shine and 'Ace' was a phenomenal debut album for Taemin and really stamped that 'Taemin vibe/sound' we all know and love' Generally speaking SM not the best for promotions/scheduling, but the company still had their shit together when 'Move' came out, it felt like it was everywhere and surpassed the noteriety Guilty had achieved. I feel like when Taemin does variety shows, up to now, Move was always the most referenced and remembered act, even amongst the junior idols, that he did and thats because SM did go hard on promoting that song and picked a quiet month to do that comback in.
Taemin vs SM (during/post-NGDA era)
Somewhere along the lines, SM really dropped the ball with promoting Act 1 especially during Taemin's 'Criminal' comeback. They heavily prioritized their newer groups and suddenly their legendary acts were getting shafted with poor promotions and what felt like less dedicated management and resources. I recall, SM postponed the release for Criminal, squashed Taemin in Super-M activties and focused on their new acts while simultaneously over working them (honestly Mark has had such a hectic few years). My internal speculation/assumtion is that, SM figured that acts like SuJu, EXO, SHINee, GG and RV and solo/ duo units, wouldn't need as much dedicated promotions because they are iconic acts and they are fully dependant on fanbases to generate the buzz. Which leads me to my main hypothesis that after a few years of being active, SM really does not care about an artist anymore. Mind you artists that put them on the fucking map to begin with. SM won't double down on these artists because they believe they can't appeal to a younger audience. With the shitshow that was the Criminal promotions. SM really didn't do any better with 'Advice'. Pinning aespa's comeback a day before was a low blow instead of focusing on the talent that's about to go into the military, if they are aware enough to give Taemin a mini comeback so his relevancy sticks throughout his service, why damage it with an aespa release (that felt like it was to tactically avoid facing off the BTS release later than month) and basically doing NOTHING bar announcing pre-orders. Then we enter the 'Guilty' era. Which as we saw was a hit, but mainly because SM capitalized on the power of social media trends, placing Taemin in VARIOUS online contents and slowly dropped related media during winter. I mean we are still not over his 'Guilty' era, the Metamorph concert still has us at a chokehold. I 'd like to think that Taemin became more vocal in what he wanted and expected out of SM when he came back. Obviously the priority to them is/was SHINee and that's fair. DCM did really well with promos (althoughlike most shawols would say, LSM did have a major part to play with that). HOWEVER it was their 15th anniversary comeback last year and I feel like SM treated it like it was just another comeback instead of a major milestone. There were no interviews or press releases for Hard, when events were happening, it felt like it was gate kept to just local fans, like it made me feel like I was living under a rock because it was so last minute and I was not aware of anything. I want to believe that just because SM did an okay job now, excuses them for the last 3 years. What's worse is it's undeniable, Taemin lives to perform and it's no secret he sets some high goals and standard for himself and probably the toll 1) not getting to preform Guilty in GDA, despite wanting to and 2) probably not getting a solid backing for touring globally, despite very vocal fan support. I am not sure if anyone saw that SM forecast for the first two quarters of 2024, but it genuinely feels like Taemin knows that him and SHINee will not be a priority after promotions are finished. I hope I am not dense enough to assume that obviously SHINee has spoken about this privately and internally for a while now. It's really something you can't avoid talking about. Taemin has spoken to his hyungs, people in his circle inside and outside of the industry. Hopefully he is well informed and supported and it seems definite that SHINee is still active as a group.
Key vs SM.
Someone has already mentioned it but if anyone was leaving SM for creative freedom, I genuinely thought it would be Key. 'Bad Love' was an amazing release and Key fought with SM to release with his own brand/aesthetic. Because Taemin's imminent departure is so publicized, SM might be keeping the talks with Minho and Key super under wraps and trying to offer a btter deal. Although recently, bar Good and Great, SM has been using Key as a 'Variety' idol than an actual singer, which sucks because Key is super talented and if SM doesn't recognize that star power now, good luck to them. Also apparently, Kany is signed with BPM? I know she is close with SHInee in general, but I would assume it'd be Key joining her ya'know?
Minho vs SM.
Imma put it out there, the promotions for 'Stay for a Night' was lackluster? I feel like they treat solo Minho and SHINee Minho as two separate entities. Like yes there is a dualism of being a group preformer vs solo preformer. But on the rare occasion SHINee does get promoted Minho seems to get more attention, but as a solo artist, I don't feel the same love for his solo promotions. I hope Minho gets to write and contribute more, which I believe he does in the background. If he does stick to SM, I pray they open other avenues of artistry, primarily, he does really well with his acting roles and yes it really helps that he does fit the 'K-drama ML' look.
Onew vs SM
I feel like Onew gets the short-end of the stick out of the rest of SHINee, never mind that the man has the voice of an angel, but again, he is another one that SM never bothered to market right. It kind of make sense that he would want to leave the company and seek ones that would expand his career inside and outside of singing and while the one good thing SM did recently is make sure Onew was healing and taking care of himself, recent SHINee promo activities feels like they are treating Onew's break as a hush hush 'taboo topic' Honestly, bring back the era where our idols would randomly disappear during promotions because they were casted to be on-stage again. I am still forever clinging onto Onew singing opera, because despite him not being trained for that, he has the talent to do so. It'd be nice to hear him produce his own music, or give acting another shot.

Unpopular Opinion: David Tennant Should Never Have Returned To Doctor Who
When a teary eyed David Tennant as The Doctor uttered the words “I don’t want to go” in his 2010 generation scene, it was a heartbreaking moment for fans. Saying goodbye to such a universally loved incarnation would be hard, but this was Doctor Who. Change was inevitable, and often, exciting.
So when the BBC announced that Tennant would be returning to the iconic role 15 years on, as part of a series of 60th anniversary specials, I was sceptical.
It looked like I was the only one though, as the internet erupted with anticipation and jubilation. I, however, thought the 14th Doctor reveal was a huge distraction that disrespected both the outgoing and the incoming actors.
Don’t get me wrong, Tennant is one of my favourite modern Doctor’s. His mid 2000s run as the 10th Doctor was funny, frightening, heartfelt and unforgettable. He had some of the best companions and villains, and some of the smartest and most compelling stories. But all good things come to an end, and now his emotional first exit felt a bit hollow.
His return really took the shine off Jodie Whittaker’s finale. Yes, her years as the 13th Doctor were responsible for some of the worst Doctor Who storylines in recent memory. But this was hardly her fault, and instead of enjoying her last moments as The Doctor and reflecting on the good bits (the first female Doctor in the show’s history), fans were shouting at their screens for her to hurry up and regenerate so their favourite could return. It was almost like the show was doing a reset and hoping we’d forget about her.
It also meant that the now 15th Doctor (Ncuti Gawta, the first gay, black Doctor in the show’s history) had to wait a little longer to make his debut, which seemed on-the-nose too.
The BBC were making it crystal clear who they thought their most popular Doctor was. Tennant has had more screen time than any other modern era Doctor, and now he’s the only one still alive and kicking post regeneration across all eras. Haven’t they ever heard of 'jumping the shark' or having too much of a good thing?!
He had four consecutive seasons from 2005-2008, with a fake regeneration at the end of Series 4 that saw him get cloned and live happily ever after with Rose Tyler on parallel earth. From 2008-2010 he travelled sans companion in a series of specials, before reluctantly regenerating into Matt Smith. In 2013, he made an appearance alongside Smith in the 50th anniversary special.
And now in 2023, he’s done three extra episodes alongside Catherine Tate reprising her role as his much loved Series 4 companion Donna Noble. These specials ended with him bi-generating (one Tennant Doctor, one Gatwa Doctor - don’t ask!) and continuing on as The Doctor, complete with his own TARDIS. He will, he says, stay put on earth to let Gatwa go off and have his own adventures. How generous of him!
Firstly, Tennant’s latest run didn’t feel like a 60th anniversary either. Instead it felt like a very late follow up and conclusion (or even an alternative ending) to Series 4, so the opportunity to include other cameos and celebrate the show’s rich history was lost.
In ‘The Star Beast’, the monstrous Meep really just provided a reason for The Doctor to see Donna again. In ‘Wild Blue Yonder’, The Doctor and Donna fought creepy doppelgängers of themselves (again, talk about self-indulgent!), and in ‘The Giggle’, Neil Patrick Harris’ promising Celestial Toymaker did little more than put on a funny accent and do a funny dance.
Sure, it had some fun and heartfelt moments. I'm glad the DoctorDonna Human-Time Lord metacrisis has been resolved. The Doctor's tender moments with Donna were nice. His two redheaded companions (Donna and Mel) holding his hands as he "regenerated" was touching. Even Tennant and Gatwa's interactions were surprisingly sweet. However, the whole jaunt just felt like an excuse to reunite Tennant and Tate and capitalise on their lingering popularity. Which leads me to my second point…
No other actor has been able to continue on as The Doctor, so the fact that this is the first exception to the rule shows that the studio is very obviously playing favourites. They are keeping Tennant’s sprightly sneaker wearing, pin stripe suited spaceman up their sleeves to roll out whenever they please. If the ratings plummet, they can bring Tennant back. If the fans want it, they can bring Tennant back. If Tennant wants it, they can bring Tennant back. Does anyone else smell a spin-off?
Thirdly, I don’t buy the idea that The Doctor can be - and wants to be - domesticated at all. Despite everyone telling him that he needs to stop and slow down, he has never once done so. In every incarnation, he/she is an energetic, chaotic and forever on-the-go entity that can’t stand waiting or having to sit idly by.
So, all of a sudden we're expected to believe that he’s going to stay with Donna and her family and just hang out on earth like a regular human? I doubt it. He even said it himself to Rose in Season 2, when trying to justify why he can’t settle down. "You can spend the rest of your life with me. But I can't spend the rest of mine with you." If bi-generation had have happened to Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor, I might have accepted it better because he said he wanted to rest. It would’ve made more sense there.
And lastly, but probably most importantly, everyone loves a bit of nostalgia, but bringing beloved characters back from the dead to get ratings up again isn’t a good enough reason. In reality, it just reeks of lazy writing or a lack of creativity, and in turn, a lack of closure. The whole point and poignancy of a show like Doctor Who is that The Doctor must change and move on, as we, the audience, have to move on.
When someone plays The Doctor, they do it for a limited time but they leave a lasting legacy. Having Tennant on standby undermines that. I want the writers to invest in their new actors and have faith in their new adventures instead of having earlier models waiting in the wings.
So for me, the best thing about these three specials and the finale wasn’t that Tennant didn't have to say goodbye this time. It was that Gatwa finally got to say hello...

SHINee's Onew set to depart from SM Entertainment after Taemin
On March 5 KST, following news of SHINee's Taemin's exclusive contract with SM Entertainment coming to an end, Onew is also reportedly poised to conclude his longstanding exclusive contract with SM Entertainment sometime in the first half of this year.
"We are currently exploring various possibilities for our future endeavors," shared a representative regarding Onew's departure from the agency.
Debuting as a member of SHINee back in 2008, Onew has been celebrated for his contributions to numerous hit songs including "Replay", "Ring Ding Dong", and "Sherlock".
In 2018, marking a decade since his debut, Onew ventured into the realm of solo artistry with his inaugural album 'Voice'. Balancing his solo pursuits with his commitments to SHINee, he maintained a busy schedule spanning Korea and Japan. Notably, he held his first solo concert in March of last year, connecting intimately with his devoted fanbase.
Despite plans for SHINee's 8th full-length album to commemorate their 15th debut anniversary, subsequent activities were halted due to Onew's declining physical health following his solo concert.
