WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK FELLAS

Okay, so Nintendo dropped the Direct this morning and I went NUTS.

First of all, they lead with a FUCKING MARIO & LUIGI GAME. I AM NOT KIDDING. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. MARIO & LUIGI IS BACK.

Then later on they announced a new Mario Party so HELL FUCKING YES

And at the end of course was Metroid Prime 4, FINALLY, AFTER SO MANY YEARS

But that's not what I'm mainly excited for (except Mario & Luigi because holy shit I can't wait for Brothership to come out).

They dropped a new Zelda. One, it's a top-down title, and not even a remake of an old one. It's just a brand new game!

But the other thing....

#Fourfold Soul #<- That's the title of the project I've been working on!#I am very excited to finally show off the cowboy (gender redacted) I've been cooking in a slow boil!!! Yeehaw!#Yes this is the game project. YES I am commited to the bit of having the main character go through a long running pronoun-quest.#This character does not have a name so I cannot formally tag them...#(Okay. Technically they have an internal name for coding/scripting reasons...and I have a nickname for them.#But the important part of making a video game character you get to eventually name is that the name must come from *you*!)#The girl here is a npc so she has a temporary name. So I also cannot tag her. Hmm...#I have several FFS comics thumbnailed out. This one got made first because it's the funniest without context. Lore wise it's weak.#I would love to post the sexy clown but you have to wait just a few more comics.#Fun artist woes moment to share: This is the first time I've had to colour these characters traditionally. *That* was NOT fun.#Going from a specific digital colour palette to being at the whims of my limited colour choices in markers? Hell! On! Earth!#I might also be extra frustrated because this sure is 3x the length of what I usually do for comics! I spent a Whole Day on this.#Past me thought it was soooo funny and needed all the extra panels for pacing. I hate past me. That guy needs to be exploded.

waow 2024 is almost dead!!! gone too soon. feels like it’s been a big year for me art-wise for many reasons, BUT. i’m making 2025 bigger.... hopefully....i’ve made some art goals for next year which i won’t explain in detail but they boil down to 1) do more studies 2) tackle my weaknesses (backgrounds, dynamic poses/angles, uhhh lots of stuff i am a one trick pony right now) 3) get into drawing comics, all of which are in preparation for 4) take my story ideas more seriously and get started on one of the many graphic novels living in my head. i have one in mind i HAVE to complete in my lifetime or i will die, but firstly i’m gonna mess around with some little standalone svanhildr comics perhaps. goat fans rejoice.

rewatched madoka magica again today bc i fucking hate myself and to absolutely no one’s surprise i went through all five stages of grief in a single evening

#let’s talk about sayaka miki for a second #genuinely the fact that her whole character is centered around tragedy almost to a shakespearean extent #she’s selfless and brave and values her justice and righteousness above all. calls herself an ally of justice #in fact i think it’s rather intriguing how her whole character is centered around “justice”#her story being a more twisted retelling of the original little mermaid #how she is initially portrayed as a very heroic and confident character even before becoming a magical girl. always shielding madoka #selling her soul to heal the boy she loved out of a selfless desire to see him well again #her being absolutely distraught abt being robbed of her humanity and betrayed by kyubey #she combats this harrowing realization by immersing herself in her duties not caring that she is slowly deteriorating in the process #becoming numb with pain and fighting recklessly and psychotically trying to drown out the pain #finally coming to the sickening conclusion that humanity doesn’t deserve her saving and she succumbs to a fate of her making #last words being “i was so stupid” which trumps her previous statement of “there’s no way i’d regret this”#ALSO? the fact that her costume and weapon are symbolic of a knight. she rly portrays this hero of justice who will protect and defend ☹️#i think abt the fact that homura said that sayaka’s wish was so selfless it was only a matter of time before she died #sayaka being the example of what happens to magical girls who go through the entire cycle and eventually become witches is so sad to me #genuinely just like. sick and twisted #very very fucked up.#characters who have their own misconstrued interpretation of “justice” or who are centered around justice in general.#you will always be dear to me.#sayaka reminds me a lot of akechi in some ways ngl #harboring an almost idealized vision of justice but it slowly rots and festers and corrupts their hearts the more immersed w it they become #actually losing their sanity when they fight bc of how much pain they’re in but refuse to acknowledge it until they break #refusing any help and wallowing in misery despite having ppl who love them and want to save them #last words are those expressing regret for being such a fool. for being ignoring #being used by yhe main villain as a stepping stone towards their true goal. they were merely a pawn #also doomed in every version of their reality. always doomed by the narrative no matter what choices they make #i have a type i fear #HAHAHAH ALSO the fact that they’re both dressed so regally compared to everyone else in their respective series #meant to portray them in a virtuous and princely light. only made more apparent by the sword being their weapon of choice #i’m gonna shut up now but they’re soo eerily similar its unnerving tbh 💀

to the people saying jinx could never reciprocate ekko's love in the main timeline because of everything she's been going through... i need you to examine your unconscious biases against mentally ill characters

#i also think s2's pacing issues haven't helped #like we don't know how much time has passed between when ekko saves jinx from offing herself and the final battle #and apparently it wasn't a one day thing because of the jinx fixes everything mini game #there's A LOT we didn't get to see #and that bothers me because then we get takes like this #and it's like... no #just because a character has mental health issues doesn't mean they aren't capable of love #or capable of “reciprocating”#au powder also deals with a lot of shit #she just has a community by her side that supports her #which is what jinx has lacked due to silco's isolation and the trauma she's suffered in the main timeline #and we actually get to see in the show how jinx improves the more she creates meaningful bonds with people and reaches out #SO YEAH #timebomb #arcane #timebomb rambles #i can't stop thinking about them

Finally finishing totk

#Totk #Art #Comic #Link #This one gets main blog privileges lololol #Context: I had beat 1 dungeon and promised my buddy not to progress without them. I was just filling out the map and these guys appeared #Totk spoilers in the tags #Okay so here's my totk story because it hurts everyone I tell including myself #First time I played totk I got really fed up with the tutorial. It would just never end.#I got so fed up with it in fact... I never did the story. At all!#My buddy wanted to watch me do the story but we kept missing each other #So I ended up avoiding anything even tangentially related to plot #I never met any characters. Never even knew there were bosses and dungeons. Never entered the castle #And one time my buddy told me there was the awesome boss in the depths I could fight-- a king dragon. Woaaahhh #I made my way over there and was so ready for this epic battle and ended up killing it in 5 seconds. I was too powerful 😂#Keep in mind I did NO DUNGEONS and had grinded up the dynamic difficulty entirely through common enemies to the point of silver lynels #So yeah I stopped playing because I realized I was way too overpowered to start the story #So I started all over again. Finally doing totk the Intended Way™#Uhh... Doing one single dungeon raised the difficulty to the point of black hoglins appearing?? What???#I'm basically rushing every dungeon (I just finished the second one) without preparing at all or doing any shrines #(I killed colgera while dying from cold damage at 4 hearts because I ran out of cold res LMFAO)#So this is really testing my Zelda skillz. It's very fun.#Also. During the first dungeon. I was so obsessed with the kid I almost looked up how I could keep him as my companion #My buddy was so excited for me to find out what the reward was for beating the dungeon 😂😂😂#What else funny... Oh yeah my old save was so jank I never actually got any more than 5 hearts.#Yes I had to defeat lynels mostly hitless since they can kill you despite the mercy quarter heart #I also went to do the first dungeon on the first save and accidentally entered the ship without the child. It TRAPS YOU INSIDE.#It doesn't even give you a warp it just says “die or warp out”. Except I didn't get the shrine halfway up. So I decided to hoverbike out 😓#Oh yeah and it turns out you can ABSOLUTELY get the master sword so so easily.#She flies right past the water dungeon and phases out of existence near immediately it's very funny.

Rewatching Gumball is knowing that while there is no actual real overarching plot the episodes are still so amazingly interconnected.

I love how they do foreshadowing, how they build on little moments that we see through out other episodes. It's Banana joe's mom's future paintings being a small joke in "The Shell". Rob being in the deleted place with all the forgotten things in "The Void" after we see that Gumball and Darwin have a hard time remembering him and then completely forget him once Darwin kicks him into the sewers a whole season earlier in "The Pony". He then literally still has parts of the void ingrained in his design when he comes back. It's the fact that Penny and her family being hollow shells with something inside was being played as haunting jokes for episodes before the one based entirely around it. It's the fact that characters like Sarah have always been a little fourth wall breaky and so an episode like "The Fan Fiction" is so completely in line with her character that it's unremarkable in context, hell there's an episode where she sings the ending song to end the show and avoid an awkward conversation her being able to take some control of the show feels like the natural evolution of that.

The background characters in gumball have such distinct personalities that have been pretty consistent and built upon since season 2 which is completely insane and unprecedented for an episodic 2010 children's cartoon. The show might not have had an arc but it has always been continuous.

You do really get the sense that this is a world where everyone is very hyper-aware of the rules in which they operate. The show might reset at the end of the episode but the people don't

y'all i gotta be honest for a sec, the "atla wouldnt change much if aang wasnt there, in fact it might be better" and "the atla finale wouldnt change much if aang wasnt there to fight ozai" debates is the funniest thing ive seen come out of this fandom

#'this show wouldnt change much if the main character wasnt there' hmm me thinks otherwise!#do people just. not realize that the gaangs arcs ESPECIALLY zukos and kataras would not have happened if aang was taken out of the picture?#ppl praise zukos redemption arc sm and rightfully so but aang is such a HUGE factor in zukos arc!#hell you could argue that it kickstarted because of aang #'if we knew each other back then do you think we could have been friends too?' the question that forever changed zukos life #without aang katara would still be stuck in the south pole with sokka and she wouldve never gotten the training she needed #toph wouldve never left if aang wasnt in the picture #hell you could argue the same with suki shed still be stuck on the island #tbh without aang theyd all be dead or at least in serious trouble by the end of the series #and the finale argument... cmon now #did people forget the scene of iroh explaining to zuko (AND THE AUDIENCE) that aang HAS to be the one to fight ozai #ONLY aang could defeat ozai #the strongest firebender in the series #without aang they all wouldve been cooked #by this point both zuko and sokka were seriously injured and katara and the rest were absolutely exhausted from fighting their own battles #ozai is only one guy yeah but again he is the strongest firebender in the whole series #even iroh was like 'nah theres no way in hell i could beat him'#ozai was in the air spinning around like a beyblade shooting fire from all parts of his body destroying everything in sight LMAOOO #delete later #probably

#what a year #ive never compiled it neatly before #i was gonna wait it out cuz i havent finish my Christmas pieces yet but im also like ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck it so yeah hehe #this year I’ve expanded my socials to bluesky and instagram #I’ve always did two collabs this year which is still wild to me (im planning to do more next year hopefully)#(if my social anxiety can just get over it)#in tappy’s voice: gomz no balls #i also need to do more color piece #launching ☕️ this year has helped to do that #to do at least one colored piece each month #i have a video of me going thru my doodles from January to December in the works but i think i might not able to finish it on time #we’ll see #still gotto tackle the last few ☕️ requests after con #this year I’ve drawn a lot more Price!! that’s why he’s the main character this year #i would put Raven but she’s always a main so #im really happy to have found a nice chibi style and stick with it #consistency is always a struggle for me esp with my non chibi style #some of what i drew this year was awful HDJSHSHS but its nice seeing progress #December suit Price is my proudest non-chibi work and I wish to continue that style next year #moving forward I want to continue to improve and do better but also take it easy #burnt myself out too many times this year due to drawing nearly every day + stress + uni #stress management plan is needed but i SUCK at it #me as a pharmacy student counselling patients [it is important to try to relax and manage stress properly]#what a joke JDJDHDHHD #at least my blood pressure readings stabilized finally on gawd it was on the borders for a few months #it’s been a fun year and I’ve made a lot of new friends too #drabbled in a few fandom and community here and there #thank you for having me everyone :)#gummmyart #art summary 2024
