#dawntrail spoilers #ffxiv #miqomarch #miqomarch2025 #g'raha tia #arsay nun #wolgraha #dawntrail #ffxiv spoilers #oof this was a doozy to write and pose but i got through it 😭#i was going to expand on the bird metaphor initially but then I remembered that Arsay doesnt really do that. she just says shit #so you the viewer gets to decide what she means #I feel like its been a while since I've shown Arsay lifting her partner up in a conversation #shes been real baby since endwalker so its usually her who needed the support #im glad DT gave me a moment for Arsay to show her inspiring side now that shes gone through endwalker character development #were it any other character she would have said nothing tbh These are feelings she could only reveal to raha and shtola #so many people have done amazing takes on this scene and their wols replies i really hope this doesnt come off as reductive #or accidentally copying someone else #this part really hit me when I was playing because of irl reasons but even still i knew in the moment arsay would fight grahas doubt #because she believes so much in him and his kind soul. And shes seen it in action too. she sees a distinction between his actions-#- and that of others who claimed to do things for the good of their people #tbh arsay does kinda fall into the camp of 'would rather die than have to mourn another loved one' at this point #but if it came down to it I dont think shed be able to do anything but keep living- shes stronger than she believes herself to be

#my characters #also it is worth pointing out that piero does just make fire ! like a superpower!#and the time he set his ex on fire was ACTUALLY before they dated and it was because she was hired to kill him #but she used her cult like popularity to surround him and he got really scared bc he doesnt really wanna die #so he just meant to send a warning flare type thing ? but it was much more extreme than intended #and she got burnt while one of the followers died #and she then was like well now i dont want him dead cause HE CAN BE OF SO MUCH USE and then #manipulated him and lied and betrayed him and started to date him but without meaning it #so he was naive and thought maybe someone finally didnt hate him for his powers and then oops!#shes just using him and so he leaves one day and the entire cult holds it against him for making life harder for her #and also she has some power over time in the sense she can halt time and walk by people unnoticed #then release time and no one notices #except she does it so much to piero that he slowly builds a tolerance to it and thats actually when he overhears her #commenting on how useful he is but how annoying he is and how much she has to put up with him #and unfortunately for piero shes also the only person he can think of that might be able to do something #about langdon and getting him back home cause hes from earth #and they are very much not on earth #but its not completely an isekai type plot in the sense that langdon didnt die and get reincarnated #he just simply popped up in another dimension #that part of the plot hasnt actually been decided on the hows #but the ex gf and cult leader does help langdon get back home !#hi i love my ocs a lot im sorry that even with the fact i love them i cant sit still #on which ocs i will draw for #im still constantly thinking about the death dimension group and also oifil and also like 10 other plots #but still yeah ok so him acknowledging he doesnt like being lied to is due to the ex he needs to get to help them which is why #he thinks about it very clearly - hes about to go try to request help from someone who spent YEARS lying to him

i'm getting towards the end of the skypeia arc, & i'd like to say just how much i adore the way the female strawhats have been treated.

just... every aspect of how the way their characters have been previously contextualized influences the story-line is treated with a masterful amount of consideration. we're given so many layers to both of them that enrich not only their characters specifically, but the arc, and the one piece world as a whole. without nami & robin having their specific skills, and their specific values, without those being built upon, the story would have come to a halt.

you could not have skypeia without nami & robin being who they are as individuals. not just because they never would've gotten there without nami, but also because the way these women think is itself foundational to the machinations of the arc as a whole.

to be totally upfront, if you think any other strawhats were more central to the skypeia arc than nami & robin were you are full-on fucking lying to yourself.

#obligatory disclaimer that i’m aware luffy is the protagonist & a lot of interesting stuff is explored w him. this isn’t abt him though.#part of me wonders if this is an aspect of why people will write off this arc sometimes tbh... like that & the political themes.#but yeah anyway i get why people say that for all there are 100% misogynistic tendencies in oda's writing & character design #it is very very hard to say that he as an individual is an ideological misogynist. like the level of care he puts into his female cast mem #-ers generally speaking & how he approaches what existing as a multi-dimensional individual would look like in their specific contexts is #like... in a lot of ways still something that is unprecedented across all forms of media.#but also not the point but anyone who says nami in particular doesnt get real fights/is unskilled um... no you're wrong read her fight in #alabasta & then all of skypeia.#like in alabasta she takes on arguably a stronger opponent than sanji when considering the structuring of BW. not only that but she does s #with a weapon she has never used before while actively reading the instruction manual. and she WINS. she wins based on sheer intellect &#the ability to utilize skills the audience already knows she has. the pre-existing basic fighting skills she's introduced with are elabora #-ed upon by incorporating her skill w navigation. same with the way her cunning is used in skypeia to cover her lack of sheer brute. &#the best part about it is she's fucking tough in a way that makes sense! she isn't strong/weak just for the sake of positioning her as such #it is thoughtful & it strengthens her as a character rather than just like giving the power-scaler types smth to mindlessly chew on.#like do i wish nami got to fight more & take a more active role in that regard even if i don't think she needs to be a fighter in the same #sense as the monster trio? yes absolutely. i'm guessing this is going to be smth that bothers me potentially even more with robin.#but that does not mean her fights are not masterfully written when she gets them or that she isn't tough as a bag of nails.#respect my darling woman or die.#skypeia #nico robin #nami #grey's one piece tag

I don't remember last I mentioned it but apart from crude nicknames to people (except Chris), he also just puts them in his phone really weird (except Chris, who is literally in his phone as Chris). And I bring this up because in Right's phone, Karen is saved as "Lawful Obligation".

I think a lot of people who are so focused on the ratgrinders being redeemed need to watch Misfits and Magic. I feel like even if the intrepid heroes TRIED to redeem the ratgrinders some of the ratgrinders fall into the same situation as Tallulah which is: even when given explicit instructions in how to be redeemed her loathing of the protagonists and conviction in her belief that she's better than them means she simply refuses to be redeemed.

I just had a thought that another nickname that Captain Crybaby could have given to Kyle was Mistofolees (like the character from the Cats Musical) because in the Musical Mistofolees is the one who brings the cats' leader back and Kyle was the one who brings the corps back

My Hal might not know the reference on his own, but he likes to learn about his neices and nephews interests so he can talk to them about it, especially when they were younger so maybe he learned through one of them (we can blame Helen)!

I'm gonna add this to my Kyle nicnames list tbh. For those of you that don't know, in my fic Fear and What Follows, I mention that each Earth Green Lantern has a nickname because if multiple of them are on the same mission they can't all go by Green Lantern and useing their names would reveal their identites and i do NOT like how DC handles secret identies (WHY ARE THEY YELLING EAROTHERS NAMES IN THE STREETS????). It also based off of military nicknames, which you usually get for silly reasons.

Other names I was thinking of for Kyle's nickname were

Colors

because he's an artist! would've been given to him by Dinah while he is on the League instead of Hal and just something that everyone calls him before the id reveal, and is also a cool nod to him becoming a White Lantern later!

Pretty Boy

bc he's a pretty boy! not much to say here!

Rat

he's my rat guys. and alley and his ring and- didn't end up useing it because Sinestro calls him ally rat.

Gromit

my friends idea! Bc he fights with Wally a lot (before they become friends ofc) and Wally is Wallace so Kyle gets to be Gromit. He's gonna be jokingly called this in my au but its not like an official nickname

Four

the fourth green lantern! Originally in my au they were gonna be differentiated by number but the nicknames are cooler and sillier

Spaceboy

he was gonna get this one from Donna and it would just kinda stick.

Trouble

This was the top contender because he is a trouble magnet! Went with Torchie in the end, but i got to use Trouble in a different Au so im happy bc I really like this one!

Guy was gonna be Souless (because he's a red head) before I went with One Hit and Hal was almost Highball (his airforce call sign) or Captian Weepy (the double C sounded better so I changed it), but everyone else I went with the first thoughts cz i did like them (Braincell for Jess, Vroom for Simon, Teeny Bopper/Teeny for Keli) but John it took me a long time to come up with Problem Child/pc. Still trying to think of Jo's (I rlly have to read far sector i'm a failure).

Ohh okay it's just a theory. Thank god. The thought of "him dying prompted the continent to lift" straight up didn't even occur to me. I 100% assumed the implication was that it started happening as soon as the dungeon was destroyed, it just took a few days to reach the surface (and a few days more after that to fully re-emerge, as is stated in canon)

theres just so many interesting things you could do if you staged chimes of midnight tbh....

#two actors for edith (older and younger) and having the older sing behind other dialogue #separate actor for edward grove so when he possesses shaughnessy the two actors speak at the same time #to be honest you could have two actors for just about everyone except maybe the doctor #and probably not shaugnessy since he doesnt die. but whenever the others die have understudies either play the corpse or stand around in the #background outside the lights. so theyre just visible but clearly shelved #as the mystery gradually becomes clear slowly have the older edith shadowing the staff as they say things that were said to her #the screams when the older edith is explaining - just have younger edith and mary and mrs baddeley and whoever else offstage and scream with #with their mics off - then you get a surround sound effect too - esp if you have them offstage behind or to the side of the audience #YOU COULD HAVE A DOLLHOUSE IN THE PARLOR WHEN THE DOCTOR'S CALLED UPSTAIRS TOO #itd be even more effective if you showed it at the beginning #maybe as the audience is filtering in you just have the lights up on that set so they SEE it yk?#then once everyones seated have the lights go off suddenly (maybe even play the theme song)#idk how youd do the jam jar im not a theater person. maybe red fabric for the jam that can 'spill' all over charley in a concerning looking #way (that can look like how edith looks when she kills herself) but that doesnt necessitate a costume change or any sort of cleanup for the #stage itself. BUT. the problem is the jar. i wouldnt want to use breakaway glass bc 1) cleanup 2) id want to have something you could put #back together quickly that would be indicative of the time loop #but again im not a theater person so i dont know stuff maybe that would be easy and you COULD use breakaway glass. or whatever im NOT a #person who knows really much at all about theater #ari opinion hour

It's my birthday tomorrow so I'm indulging with more OCs as a treat to me personally.

Halibut the wonderful mute (by choice) siren thinking about how in another universe, she can marry Tolliver. The other universe is Tomodachi Life. She married Tolliver in Tomodachi Life and I'm so normal about them being married and happy since they do not in fact get married and happy in canon. (thank you 3ds crack fodder game i love you and think about you often)
