Arcane: Season 2 Act 3

I am actually stunned that this show is over.

I didn't know figure out that is was ending for real for real until the last ep of Act 2 so I'm kinda new to this just distraught feeling and then...then.....

I really enjoyed ep. 7 it was the cutest fucking thing to come out of this whole show. To know that there is a universe out there where they get to be happy, even if it means Vi is dead, is nice.

And Himerdinger's little song was too cute (and he's not dead. I saw someone on tiktok say he wasn't because he's a yordle and you know what I'm gonna believe it because if I don't?? its not gonna be a good time. Also I really thought he turned invisible then because I SWEAR I heard his little footsteps walk away som maybe I'll go with that)

I am upset that Sevika didn't get more screen time then she did, but I am SO happy that she 1) lives and 2) is on the council now!! She deserves it and she IS ZAUN she everything that Zuan stand for and she'd been there since day 1 and just UGHHHH I love that woman let me marry her right here right nowwwww

Piltover and Zuan teaming up to fight against a common enemy was wonderful. I loveee a good war/battle/invasion scene and that whole ep FED ME

Ambessa was badass and I hate her AND love her?? Like I have very mixed feelings on her and that's okay because that's what the writers want.

I'd let her completely annihilate me on the... battlefield....and that's all I'll say on the Ambessa topic.

Well actually that Shadow Black Rose mage was LeBlanc right?? I slowly trying to learn all the League lore and I read a bunch of people saying it was her but I really don't know enough yet to be like oh yeah. That's her.

The creators of Arcane want to do other tv shows right for League? I know they are working on Penelope of Sparta but we've GOT to get some more for Arcane seeing different stories and stuff there are too many characters NOT to do it, Noxus and whatever Mel is gonna do with it being one of them

CaitVi being end game was wonderful. Caitlyn was looking scrumptious these last few eps and unfortunately, I've been a big Cait hater but she's....okay now....i guess....got played HARD by Maddie though like fuck that girly omgggggg Maddie was horrible even those she really didn't get us a reason to dislike her till last ep.

I will deny deny denyyyyyy that's dead like I won't even let the thought cross my mind and the ending of the show I think allows me to do so perfectly

The ending, after some thought and not just going off of my instant reaction which was to scream and cry and pull my hair out, was perfect for the show.

I honesty like how it gives you that feeling of I guess unfinished, like you know there should be more because that's what they want us to feel. The arcane world is so big and there are hunters of stories to be tole and even though I'm sad Vi and Jinx's story is done I know it's not really done, done which is in a way comforting.

This show really was beautiful.

I liked the mix between magic and reality. It really has set a high standard for any animated TV shows that I really doubt anyone will be able to replicate.

But I'm pumped for Penelope of Sparta because greek mythology AND stunning animation/storytelling??? Yes please sign me up I will eat it up.

have you seen the new loki spoilers? I don't know if you want to be spoiled (let me know and I'll link you) but according to them they're doubling down on everything we disliked in season 1. More Sylvie, more Larry pining, more romance. Sighs

I’m including a cut since I’ll mention some older spoilers for season 2 underneath.

That said, after I finally made myself watch the trailer I got exactly the same feeling. For me it looked very much like this season is focused on Sylvie’s character arc, which by itself isn’t a bad thing. (I just wished they would leave Loki out of it, so I could skip it without second thought.) Despite me not being interested in Sylvie, from a story-telling perspective I agree that she deserves more screen time to get a fulfilling character arc. I just dislike the message that anyone, be it women or men, would need a relationship to become better or whole. Amatonormativity is fucked up, especially for a character so many othered people identify with because he doesn’t adhere to the traditional Christian values. Values that teach you aren’t successful if you don’t have a job, a house a wife and children. Loki should be chaotic. Hell, Sylvie should be chaotic. Arguing they both need anyone to be complete is a disservice for all those who struggle to keep a deeper relationship for whatever reasons. That doesn’t make one lesser.

I think one of the earliest spoilers I heard were about an older version of Sylvie who allegedly led the TVA, implying she went dark side. This trope is often used to give a younger hero (or in this case variant) the chance to “do better”. In the trailer, Loki and Sylvie cast this massive green wave of magic while holding hands. This is most likely about them being strong together and incapable alone. (subtitle, isn’t it?) so, yeah, I expect this season to hammer down the message that their relationship is the only thing that could save the multiverse, while the lack of it would make them both die or become irredeemable villains with a sledgehammer.

Sadly, I can both see and understand all that and still am unable to let go of my Loki-obsession for good. Perhaps I should write a fan letter to Dante, proposing this concept for another circle of hell. Given the fact the divine comedy is basically a self-insert fanfic where he imagines meeting all the people who admires I think it should meet the premises. 😩

Ok, this got long for a simple “yes please”. 🙈 sorry!! So, yes please! Give me all the discouraging spoilers! Kill my hope! I beg you!! 😭

Thoughts on the new House of the Dragon episode (S2E5):

I wish Alicent was written to be more cunning. She had Larys, Cole, and Aemond in her back pocket but she is not properly manipulating them at all! Now it’s just another episode of her being ignored and put aside. It’s getting stale. I miss her last season when she tried to kill Rhaenerya :( Where is the fire this season? Her characterization is all over the place tho so I really don’t know what to expect.

And oh boy Rhaeneyra. I gotta say she’s so boring after the timeskip/actor change (no hate on Emma tho they’re a great actor). I need her to start committing war crimes. Or to at least do something of consequence! I hate that they took the blame off her for B&C in the adaptation and gave it to Daemon. The writers are very biased towards her to a point where it’s crippling the writing. She can do no wrong so of course she deserves to be queen! It’s cause daddy said so! I wish she had more motivation beyond that? Or something?? It seems like she kind of forgot that her son died. Idk it’s weird

And all the Targ kids on team black are just kind of there. I can’t bring myself to care much about any of them. Really wish the writing is stronger there cause rn they’re just pawns to do Rhaenerya’s bidding.

Also can’t bring myself to care about the Targ bastard in Kings Landing. It was so bad in ep3(?) when he was just, openly conspiring to commit treason. Like yes you’re a bastard to the Targs and could in theory be heir to the throne but omg don’t talk about it in a public tavern 😩 where are your brain cells?

Loved the Harenhall scenes tho! Alys is very fun and mysterious and I’m excited to see more of her.

I worry we’re getting a little into the S8 writing when these medieval lords started going “but your grace, the Geneva conventions!” at Daemon but it seems to be done a bit better this time cause the lords are speaking for their people, and this is coming after a time of long peace in the kingdoms.

I wish Helaena got some more screen time.

And Aemond is still my favourite lmao. Love you kinslayer you’re doing great sweetie!

And looks like they’re gonna include the Dragonseed in the show! Nettles better be there or I stg…

Overall not a bad episode! Hopefully the writing can recover wrt Alicent and Rhaenyra cause oh my god. Please let women be ruthless and evil amen 🙏

hi 👀 306 was last week but I still wanted to address a couple of things… mainly roxane’s last scene, ouch, she deserved a better exit than parroting the writers’ memo on [gros canard]’s failings 😩 c’est faible. feels like they should’ve axed the scene (it was clear enough they’d break up, anyway) and simply confirmed she left with the voicemail about her sister dropping off the keys. (btw--did we know she had a sister before you mentioned that detail in fic, or was it another of your predictions??)

big fan of the attic scene though, and daphné & [gros canard]’s synchronized "gilles 🙄😵" lol. plot-wise, however, I’d like to know who would put multiple acid tablets in a bottle they’re not drinking, because 1) big waste of money for a student population, 2) it’s probably not the most efficient way to take lsd (les résidus au fond de la bouteille !!!), 3) que fait le bde ? shouldn’t they at least pretend to care about safety when there’s a party in the dorms?

and I’ll admit it was kinda fun to see [gros canard] using his ~"just broke up" privileges to dunk on morgane’s relationship history. the guy woke up and chose violence 😭😂😭 ça va qu’elle le prend bien…

I tend to disagree with you re Roxane's break-up scene, because let's remember that we are obsessed. We can list all of Adam's misdemeanors in the blink of an eye. The casual viewer can't. So this last fact in itself justifies Roxane's monologue reminding us what a terrible boyfriend he's been. And also, even though it all wasn't fresh news for me, I must say I appreciated hearing them all together and I appreciated even more Adam having all of this said to his face. And Roxane's conclusion "Et tu penses que ça fait de toi un type bien" poooooooow elle tire à balles réelles et ça fait du bien !!!! So yea basically I loved that scene because he deserved it. Period. 😂

And yes, Roxane mentioned her sister in 206!!! ("et pour l'anniversaire de ma soeur, tu as pu te libérer ?" while Adam is cursing Morgane for not capping the ketchup bottle) Now did I mention her sister in PQENCEL, well I'm afraid that's another occurrence of Local HPI anon knows my own fic better than I do lol!

(oh wait no, I mentioned her in the 303 fic, didn't I?)

The attic scene was funny-ish, granted, but it's entirely thanks to Gilles' inability to correctly answer multiple-choice questions! Ok full disclaimer, I'm kinda meh about this episode, I don't understand why so many people, cast members included, claim that it's the season's best, but also I must say that for me, the episode is completely doomed because of some infuriating stuff that happens in the finale 😭

Agreed that there's some very generous dealers on this campus, last time I checked open bars didn't include full bottles of LSD, but hey what do I know, my student years are far behind (also BDEs have never been worried about safety, come on 😅)(but this makes me think of the Palmashow's HPI spinoff "BDE" lol I bet it would have made this ep more interesting)

(speaking of the Palmashow parody, Morgane finding the victim's daughter behind the screen that *happened to be here* reminded me so much of fake Morgane finding the killer behind the curtain lol)

"the guy woke up and chose violence 😭😂😭 ça va qu’elle le prend bien…" -> true, perhaps it was a bit harsh to tell her that, but honestly the return of the flirty bickering felt so refreshing!!!! 😍 And I'd dare to think that maybe that's also the reason she takes it well while she has all the reasons to be hurt by him reminding her that she always gets dumped, because he's FINALLY risking a joke at her after all those weeks of silent treatment and closed face and angry looks, my boy is making amends and holding a timid Olive branch and she couldn't be more relieved....

... which makes the three months window proposal absolutely frustrating!!! I *hated* this part (I mean, before I watched the finale and understood what hating an episode's ending really meant lol *crying laughter*), because even though Adam needs some time to heal (understandable), and is a total control freak who shows up early on dates and probably needs to know his schedule six months in advance, this is like peak non-romance. Where's the passion? The spontaneity? I'd have accepted this scene if we'd seen him showing up at Morgane's door barely a week later and telling her that he, in fact, cannot wait, but this... UGH!

My theory is that he wanted to wait long enough to be sure about his feelings for Morgane (which would explain why he's so enthusiastic to date her in the next ep, unless he's that dtf haha), make sure it wasn't a phase or a fantasy due to being stuck in a relationship, and that's probably the only theory I can accept because it's vaguely romantic at least, and also I need to believe that his feelings are real, which is something that tends to be hinted at in 307-308 imo, so there's that consistency at least...

Speaking of consistency!!! I know I'm just hurting myself at this point but I wanted to make a quick check on the timeline... Surprisingly the show actually manages to speak the truth, Timothée did spend 4 months with the team (he arrived in the summer, two months later around September/October - remember that the months were mixed up in 303-304 - he starts dating Morgane for two months, and here we are!). So WHY would they instantly ruin that effort with the most random line this show's ever delivered:

"Et bah moi, je me suis séparée de Ludo il y a neuf mois..."

GIRRRRRRRRL, you spent two months on a couch after your breakup. Then, admitting that 205 to 208 happened in like a week which is in itself a ridiculous assumption, you left the PJ for six months. And here we are, four months later, as dutifully reminded by Timothée. And I didn't even extrapolate here, I just took point blank the elements that the show gave me.

2 + 6 + 4 = TWELVE FUCKING MONTHS BARE MINIMUM. Was it that hard to follow up? Jesus Christ.

And since I'm on the inconsistency chapter, the way TIBER is written on Morgane and Adam's wrists suggests that it's Morgane who was holding the pen because of the letters' orientation, but in this case she wrote on her left wrist. While she's left-handed. Too bad, huh?

Lol yeah Mike should pay us for breaking our gay hearts and tormenting us with his beautiful but heartbreaking stories. LEXA IS A TRUE U-HAUL LESBIAN!! She saw something she liked and went for it. I'd love to have her conference. If there wouldn't have been a war then Lexa would have married Clarke immediately. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE SHOW!!! IT'S FANTASTIC! (Aside from season 3 and the last 5 minutes)

HOUSE OF USHER WAS SO FUCKING GOOD!! I loved it. Everyone in this family was a gigantic asshole and they lowkey deserved their fate (not Camille though, she is mother and can't do anything wrong). The cinematography, the metaphors, the shots. Everything was so beautiful and once again Mike managed to create such a wonderful story with great horror elements. I love that guy. And I'm so happy that I called the "twist"/reason for everything that's happened around episode 4. Usually I suck at predictions but now I'm so proud of myself 😁 You really have to force your brother to watch Hill House! Everyone must see this masterpiece at least once in their lives.

My day was good. I had fantastic food for lunch, hung out with the chickens and binged House of Usher. And read many more Wanda/Nat fics...

Honestly, everyone should aspire to have Lexa’s confidence and her U-Haul lesbianism!!! I mean, Lexa basically did marry Clarke when she swore fealty to her in season 3!! I definitely do need to watch the rest of the show sometime!

THAT SHOW SO WAS FUCKING GOOD AND ONLY FOR 8 EPISODES?!?! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 10!! Kate Siegel try not to serve cunt challenge (impossible)!!! I loved all of the little references to Edgar Allan Pie’s story, especially the name ‘Fortunato.’ I had to explain most of the references to Poe’s work to my brother because he never got to read them in 8 grade because that was his covid year sadly, but he really loved that show!! It took me a hot minute to guess the twist, but I eventually did around episode 6 😭 I’m probably going to rewatch it again but after I read Poe’s stories, just so I can get a better understanding of it. And oh my god, I actually ship Verna and Madeline!!! Her final monologue in episode 8 was peak Mike Flanagan, and every word was written to perfection! Trust me, my brother will watch Hill House whether he wants to or not!

Well I watched all of Young Wallander, season 1 rewatch and then the new season 2, in two days and I kinda wish I hadn't binged all of season 2 in one day because now I have no more Kurt Wallander again but it was so good!!! I really enjoyed this season!

Specific stuff under the cut for spoilers!

My only complaints are 1) I needed more Mona. Mona deserved a bigger part and 2) not nearly enough Kurt whump. I mean come on.

There is one good whump scene I am definitely going to gif and I suspect it will be giffed a few times by a few people but that's a-okay with me! But that was it. That was all we got. All well. 😩

The plot for this season was interesting and also sad. So many lives ruined. The plot was rather predictable in my opinion but I also watch a lot of these kinds of shows so that's not unsurprising. I still liked it.

I'm so glad Reza got more screen time this season and that he was able to express some true feelings about Kurt getting his job, that he got promoted, and that his trauma from season 1 wasn't ignored.

Rask! God I love her. She felt so much more multifaceted this season and I am HERE FOR IT!! Also love the blonde.

Kurt, my love. That man feels things so strongly and wants to help everyone so badly. I just love him.

I do wish we had gotten some resolution to Hemberg's murder. Karl-Axel is still out there being a psycho and I don't like that. Maybe season 3? (We better get season 3)

My favorite scene/part was when Kurt was trying to get to Katja in ep.4. My heart was pounding and I kept screaming at the tv for them run. And then I screamed when the thing happened. And again when Kurt got his ass kicked. It was intense and I enjoyed it.

I'm just now realizing Yaomomo is one of the few main characters I've never written about 😩 She deserves more positive attention.

I wish that Momo had more screen time. I think at this point in the show, she's become a female version of Iida with boobs. She had self-esteem issues in season 2, but that arc didn't last very long before her midterm with Todoroki against Aizawa. I will admit, that experience taught Momo humility, which is a valuable asset, especially as a hero. I think that she's very sweet and cares for her classmates, but I don't think she gets much screen time. I loved her resourcefulness in the joint training arc and it really showed how much she's grown, since the Sports Fest, but she's grown in the background, not up front like Iida or Kiri. Coming from a rich family, I doubt she has a super compelling backstory like Kiri, which I think makes her character arc a bit more impactful, but it's not up front and center, so I don't feel like I can appreciate it as much as I should.

I love Momo, I really do. She's super sweet and really smart. I just wish she got more screen time.

It was Cassie in the first season, together with Fez and Lexi, but now I really don’t know about her dude I wanna cry 😩 but it’s all good, I’m still left with fez and lex plus now they’re flirting so life couldn’t be better honestly, and my girl lex is having the screen time she deserves!!! I hope she brings her sister back to earth lmao. I also really really wanna know more about elliot!!

Finally watched the new ep. Overall a good ep. 

First of all, let me tell you that I never liked this Viv/Julian sl, so that part was just meh for me, but I laughed so hard at the final scene with Viv going crazy 😂 That was so funny... No, I didn’t appreciate the ‘Julian was a decent man’, he helped torture and kill many magical creatures, he didn’t deserve redemption.

That said, the ep gave us many amazing moments. I love the way they handle Mags, Sarah is so good and I just love everything about Maggie, like really. So good. I like Mel’s scenes too this ep, but I still want more. Give that woman more emotional stuff! Give me more scientist!Macy and let her patent the cockblocking earbugs, pretty please... 

The show is stronger when they have the sisters together, so please give us more moment like this. Everytime they use the power of three I rejoice! But as much as I love Maggie and Mel moments, it’s time to write more Maggie/Macy Mel/Macy (it’s my fav relationship on the show and it’s stuck in season 😩) 

Now, this ep was also blessing for the shipper in me! All the hacy moments were perfect but I guess no one is getting laid tonight! Poor horny Macy! 😂

Maggie and Jordan, what can I say? He just gets her... he is exactly what she needs and the more they bless my screen the more I love them... 

Now, on Mel and Ruby. I wasn’t so sure about them before... Maybe it was my melkat heart or the fact that we never really saw the two together... But after tonight I’m totally on board... They chemistry was 🔥and Bethany is such a great actress. I hope she stays on the show... 

The finale was really good, finally I’m actually excited for what will happen next!
