THE END IS NEAR !! SUMMARIES UNDER THE CUT.

[LEFT] XVIII. (2.10) — In Charles Town, the day of Captain Flint's trial comes. Lord Ashe offers him a chance to avoid humiliation, but Flint declines, still bitter at Ashe for Mrs. Barlow's death. However, help for Flint arrives in the unlikeliest form: Charles Vane. Vane's men launch their attack on the city, and Flint and Vane fight their way out, with Flint murdering Ashe en route. They reach the ship to find Flint's crew have regained leadership, but Flint orders Vane's crew be released - realizing pirates have to unite against the rest of the world. Silver, after being tortured, is forced to have his leg amputated. When he finally awakens, he reveals that the spy they hired to watch the Spanish soldiers sold the location to Jack, but he leaves out his own part in the exchange. The ending scene shows Max celebrating Jack's success at bringing the treasure back to Nassau.

[RIGHT] XXVIII. (3.10) — As Flint buries the treasure, he is questioned by Silver about his true reasons for the war against the British and the tactics for the upcoming battle on the island. On the day of the attack, the British and Hornigold manage to take the beach with superior firepower, forcing Flint and his men to retreat. Meanwhile, Rackham and Anne unite with Blackbeard's fleet, who seeks revenge for the death of Charles Vane. In Nassau, Eleanor is confronted by an anonymous message, which demands the remains of Charles Vane as well as the gibbet be removed from the market square. Rogers recovers and reassures Eleanor of his support in overcoming her enemies. Silver sends Dobbs to the beach to kill Hornigold. In a later battle, Hornigold shoots Dobbs. Hornigold is eventually killed by Flint. In Nassau, a pardoned pirate captain is murdered by Billy, as there was no reaction to the message with the black spot. With the help of Anne and Rackham, Blackbeard's fleet manages to force the British fleet to retreat. In Nassau, Billy uses the name "Long John Silver" to create a claim of responsibility for the murder.

Let’s talk about the Veil

I’m gonna start out by saying this fully theorizing, complete spinfoil, little evidence but big dreams.  This post is not going to be about the campaign, I have different post on my blog talking about it if you really want to know.  As you might expect, huge spoilers for the campaign.  Alright, it’s lore time babey!

Alright so the Veil is super mysterious.  As mentioned in the campaign, there is very little we understand about the Veil.  Osiris has never seen anything like it, the Neomuni really just use it as a battery.  We really only know three things:

The Witness used it to open a portal (of some sort).

In interacts with both the Light and the Darkness.

It powers Neomuna and specifically is integral to the operation of the CloudArk.

That is really not a lot to go on.  However, I do think it is actually enough to figure out what is going on.  I believe that the Veil acts as a gateway between the Light and Darkness, or more specifically the physical and the metaphysical.  Now that is a pretty wild claim but here’s why.

During the campaign, Osiris muses on the nature of Light and Dark.  Specifically, he mentions that the Light deals with the physical: causing things to grow, letting us bend the rules of physics, etc.  On the other side, the Darkness deals with the metaphysical: dreams and nightmares (Nezarec alert!), feelings of control, emotions, etc.  He notes that these two forces are fundamentally incompatible.  Frankly, I disagree, I think this is a case of Osiris purposely coming to the incorrect conclusion to have a reveal in Final Shape but that’s a different theory entirely.  For now, the important thing to note is that there are a lot of questions around what happens when Light and Dark collide (Strand, Tormentors, Savathun, both “sides” using both powers, etc). 

Now let’s look at the Ishtar Collective facility and Neomuna.  In the final mission, Nimbus notes that a device we see is a CloudArk prototype.  Later we see some wacky chairs that probably were part of that project.  I cannot fully remember but I also remember the implication that the Veil is used in part of the upload process to the CloudArk.  Here, we see minds crossing into a digital space, disconnected from their physical body.  They go from entirely physical to entirely mental.

Okay Witness time.  We see the Witness carve a giant triangle into the Traveler and then open a Veil portal, passing beyond it.  I am reading this as the Witness has entered the Traveler. I’ll come back to that.  But again, the Witness has passed into an unknown space, Darkness goes into a space that is ostensibly defined by the Light.  Furthermore, the Radial Mast is specifically identified as a source of Light during the campaign and our ghost (a creation of the Light) is used to channel the Veil’s power with Osiris telling us to get our ghost away from the Veil.  Again, the convergence of Light and Dark.

Alright let’s bring it all together.  In all of these cases, we see the Veil being used as a sort of translation layer between physical and nonphysical states or more specifically, Light and Dark.  I think the Veil allows for Light and Darkness to coexist in a way that is otherwise impossible.  This is why Strand is present on Neomuna (our Light powers getting reflected into a metaphysical state), this is why our ghost can be semi-hijacked by the Witness, this is why Neomuni can be uploaded to the CloudArk which really feels a lot like the VexNet, and this is why the Radial Mast / a source of Light (us) was needed for the Witness to interact with the Veil.  It plays really nicely on the phrase “beyond the Veil” which, while often used in conjunction with death, actually just refers a mysterious division between worlds.  Again, plays really nicely with the ideas I mention here about moving between worlds, and moving between the domains of Light and Dark. 

So that begs the questions, what the heck is going on with the Witness and the Traveler?  Well take a trip with me into deep theory territory here cause I’m moving from little evidence to zero evidence.  In the final cutscene, we see the Witness send its Pyramid ships into the portal before following.  We know a couple of things.  According to Osiris, the Light deals with the physical.  We also know the Pyramid ships respond, at least in part, to our thoughts and desires.  What if the inside of the Traveler is a massive space, able to fit in the relatively small Traveler ball Tardis style because of the physics warping nature of the Light like the thought warping nature of the Darkness in the Pyramids?  The Witness needs some way to enter that space, but literally cannot because it is such a channeller of the Darkness. So, to get its ships and forces inside, it needs a translation layer.  Something that will allow it to enter this space and allow the Darkness and Light to mix.  That’s why it needs the Veil, to pass beyond, to actually get to the heart of whatever the Traveler is, whether that’s a Witness-like creature or of something more abstract. 

Also, I am wondering if the reason why nothing we do gets past the Veil is because we are all physical and Light based.  Would explain why the Witness converts its ships into smokey wisps to pass through.  So perhaps the answer is we have to become heavy on the Darkness side or... think our way through?  Not sure about this one tbh XD. Either way, I am sure we will see more about the Veil in the lead up to Final Shape.

- Definitely undiagnosed depression. He doesn't think anything is wrong with wanting to self-sacrifice himself all the time. Noboru checks up on him anyway

- Cried when Smoky died (not in public though, someone needed to be strong)

- A great singer but only sings when he's drunk at karaoke

- Bumps his head on things

- Massively protective over Noboru and Chiharu. He sees them as one in the same sometimes, loves them a lot

- Despite all of the Mugen/Amamiya beef being squashed, he and Hiroto spar every now and then

- Doesn't drink a lot (only a social drinker) because he's afraid of being addicted to something the way his mom is pachinko

recently a thing i have been working on is this generational neo-western spanning from the 1850s-modern day. basically a woman (maría) almost starves to death while pregnant during the gold rush and eats her husband to survive, and her family is then semi-cursed to live outside the bounds of the law? and the line finally ends when someone (zeet) achieves the financial success and security maría set out for in the first place via moral corruption. it’s a deconstruction of the american dream babey and each generation is iconic. there’s guadalupe who burns down a house with a man inside to protect what belongs to her family, pilar who does an armed robbery + murder to provide for her child, beatriz who kills the sheriff who comes to evict her as a new widow with a baby, and more.

the whole thing started w/ zeet actually because… well… because i wanted to make an oc to date this one hottie from better call saul 💀 then i actually fleshed them out more and then it spiraled out of my control and before long i was sitting in front of a full family tree. it’s funny how a small whim can Blossom(TM) like that in the right creative circumstances

You could have been almost as rich as you are now but have better relationships. Ofc he does have friends who are also wealthy so like good for him but still man. You deserve to see your friend's wedding. You deserve to say "No, I am NOT working this day" because your boss values you. Your boss should value you enough to let you have days off; your boss should NOT value you BECAUSE you never request days off. Also, not everyone wants to be a rich business owner (who does So Much work genuinely, at least in the first few years,) & then retire. Most people Like working! He said so himself! He likes his job talking to people & doing math! His son in law still has a job because he likes being occupied! My mom is a volunteer coordinator, volunteers exist! People want to work! We just don't want to work until we break & then retire & do nothing but golf (ew). The cognitively disabled factory worker who likes repetitive tasks & is highly trainable but not necessarily a good individual thinker or problem sovler still deserves to live without breaking their body & still deserves to retire or cut their hours if they ever want.

CASTLE DAD MOMENTS XD XD XD

In the TWO DAYS I've had off school I've only managed one castle. I just love them too much & do other work. I should go back to giving myself a 1.5 hour limit. That was back when I had recently seen the ep tho. Tbh this was worth $100 & a trip to the ER. I got some time to bleach my bones, sleep in, watch castle, make a soup... Now all I need to do is shower, see my doctor, catch up on chores, catch up on homework, & do everything else I need to do before I go back to school. Ugh.

YIPPEE PROPAGANDA TIME FINALLY!!! @just-some-guy-joust

So! Please vote for Gloria! She's my lil babey and she's got so many just some guy vibes!! She may have some main-cast-syndrome but it doesn't matter because she's still just some guy in her heart and I love her for it!! So here are some reasons to vote for my girl I love her so much

1 - Just like Levi, she's autistic! Like I said in her post, she's got a special interest in photography and she's literally so autistic about it. She doesn't quite understand the social rules of when it's appropriate to take photos or not unless there's a sign actually saying she's not allowed to (like in a museum or a movie theater or so). Other than photography infodumps, her most-said sentence is probably "But there's no sign saying photography isn't allowed!"

2 - She's literally just the friend of all time. She's so so friendly and is so so close with all her loved ones. If you need a friend she's your gal!!

3 - Honestly at least I find her super relatable. That may be because she started as a "I'm hyperfixating on ADHD and have to do something about it" self insert but now she's her own gal and I love her for it. She's really confident in photography but is otherwise pretty anxious all around. Poor girl probably just wants a hug 24/7, especially when stuff gets more serious once the story picks up

4- Speaking of the story, this is where she becomes less just some guy, but she definitely carries just some guy energy throughout the whole thing!! The lab finds her interesting because of her powers (and because studying her powers would maybe help stabilize power splices. Her friend who she met in the lab is one of those power splices!). Even though all that "woah you've got powers you're interesting" and "woah I've got powers that's scary" stuff, she was still so her and so normal about everything else. Even in the lab she made an effort to be friends or be friendly with other experiments <3

5 - She's semi-fluent in ASL! As a bilingual person (German and English) I just love when characters know more than one or even a tiny part of another one. I really gotta apply that to more of my characters I love geeking out about being bilingual it's very fun. Her friend Rav (owned by @derpu-doodles) is nonverbal/communicates through sign, so she's still able to chat with him :D. Also I assume that when she gets overstimulated she probably goes nonverbal too so it's helpful on both ends!

6- Book nerd :D. I have no idea what kind of books she likes (probably largely fantasy and other fiction stuff, maybe with a bit of history and a lot of photography-related stuff sprinkled in!)

7 - Pictures! Less of an argument about personality but some pictures are always good to show how cool my just some gal is!

So uh, now time for the less normal stuff. She got kidnapped and put into a lab that spliced her with a chameleon shortly before she turned 16. Around that same time, she developed (genetic) telekinesis powers as well. Other than having some added trauma, a new friend, and some powers (levitating things and some color changing spots), she's still a normal gal on the inside <3. Within the lab, experiments like her are quite common, and the previously mentioned friend is one of them! Gal's got auDHD and is a pretty fidgetty gal, along with carrying her beloved camera with her LITERALLY everywhere. And she may or may not understand when it's socially acceptable to take pictures (has said "well there's no signs saying it's not allowed" on MANY occasions). She's also semi-fluent in ASL :>

Wendy punches Ford so hard he gets a black eye, Soos and Wendy have their own “whoooooa HWHAT you’re twins?” revelation while Soos produces a cold pack from Stan’s trunk to press to Ford’s face. Ford has to basically dead-lift Stan and put him into the back seat of the stanleymobile-- and then admit he doesn’t remember how to drive. Soos drives them back to the Shack and they take Stan inside to his yellow chair. Soos walks back into town to get his truck, Ford tries (and does a bad job) of making breakfast for himself.

and at some point wendy’s axe got thrown into the forest and lodged in a tree trunk. the kids find it and use it as a limbo stick for a couple turns before yanking it out with all their noodle arm strength and bringing it back to the shack for Wendy
