And now we know the seelies are the devolved forms of "Angels" who were incredibly wise and also powerful. Their ancestor was married to a traveller from far away, (who was probably the second descender)

Does this mean that Childe, whose c6 cab be translated to mean "Angel Annihilation", is connected to them?

We know that there are five sinners and that they possessed abilities that could shatter the world. I think, this can also mean they had abilities that tried to replicate divine powers too

We're focusing on Surtalogi "The Foul". He is skirks's master, the creator and original owner of the foul legacy, and in the turn, the reason for Childe's Foul Legacy.

I think Surtalogi tried to replicate the powers of the angels, and in turn, created something that rivalled and contrdicted them. Thus the name, "Angel Annihilation".

Which means...either Surtalogi was really into research and was great at it too OR the motherfucker is alot older than we thought.

NOTE: This does not make Childe any less important. The motherfucker still has alot of connections to other unnatural shit, (ie. the 3 motif, the whale calling him, the abyss seeminly choosing him to fall, his highly likely reincarnations, weapons looking like the ones found in enkanomiya, the names his entire known family has)

During one of the quests (uhhh... little bit prior to the second part "The Rainbow Destined to Burn" iirc), I noticed the Khaenri'ahn soldier here and referring to The Captain as his Commander. I didn't get a screenshot of the first mention but I remember Guthred saying that about The Captain.

I thought Capitano MIGHT be from Khaenri'ah like Pierro, Kaeya, Dain and others. This isn't a clean/refined theory but I'm just throwing out my thoughts.

The Game Maker Series, Kresley Cole - Centers around three Russian brothers who have ties to the mafia. While each man is different and beautifully broken in his own way, they all believe in taking what they want. And once one of the Sevastyan's have set their sights on you, they will not take no for an answer. They're also not opposed to kidnapping either. The Italian, T.L. Swan - What happens when a summer fling ends up being so much more than that? This romance tells the story of an Italian mafia boss and his forbidden love with an Australian tourist. Historical *Outlander Series, Diana Gabaldon - Claire and Jamie's love literally transcends both time and space. This series contains an amazing romance, well researched historical descriptions, elements of magic, and so much more.

Paranormal The Psy Changeling Series, Nalini Singh - If you love stories about shifters and people with psychic abilities then I totally recommend checking out this series. Slave to Sensation is the first book, and premise goes something like: the ruling Psy prefer to exist in a world devoid of feelings and emotions, but what happens when one of their own finds herself craving something only Lucas Hunter, the alpha of the Dark River Shifters, can provide? *The Guild Hunter Series, Nalini Singh - Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but with Angels. This series is amazing and the love story between Raphael (the Archangel of New York) and his precious mortal, Elena (who is a badass in her own right). The world building is fantastic, the romance is hot, and each book only gets better. And believe me when I say, these are not your grandmother's angels. I also love the fact that you get to watch their relationship grow and evolve across multiple books. *The Night Huntress Series, Jeaniene Frost - Also has a Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibe, except the heroine is actually half-vampire herself. Bones, her eventual love interest, reminds me of Spike. Just a little bit. And just like the previous series, their romance spans multiple books. Also the love scenes are fabulous. *The Fever Series, Karen Marie Moning - If you love reading about heroines trying to solve mysterious disappearances, the Seelie and Unseelie Fae, and a delicious Alpha Male that could just easily rip you apart as well as fuck you - I'm looking at you, Jericho Barrons - then check this out. This series requires a little commitment because the romance, while hinted at, doesn't start until you're a couple of books in. But it's so worth it because you're rewarded with a territorial, possessive, darkly handsome anti-hero. *The Highlander Series, Karen Marie Moning - If you're a sucker for men in kilts, ancient curses, time travel, and drop-dead-sexy highlanders who fall hard for their modern day mates then please read. Also, some of these heroes go on to appear in the Fever Series as well. Immortals After Dark Series, Kresley Cole - Another great one This one features characters from every corner of the lore. I'm talking vampires, witches, valkyries, berserkers, demons, werewolves, succubi, and more. The men are swoon worthy and the women are badass. But what I especially love is the creativity and humor she manages to weave throughout her stories. She uses the fated mates trope quite a bit, which I love. However, what makes it great is that a lot of times the men show up like: "You belong to me now. I'm ready to take you to home" and their brides-to-be are like "Fuck off. Come any closer and I will stab you/shoot you/light you on fire". And what's more...they absolutely follow-thru. Those heroes have to earn their women. Oh, and the sexy times are good and spicy.

having the luke and jocelyn story be last in the roster is so so intriguing to me. bc you would think the final story, given the existence of the one with sebastian and the seelie queen, would potentially do something to set up the next series. or, if it didn't, it would give us something somewhat conclusive. but luke and jocelyn in the past are far from conclusive. this makes me wonder if we might get something about baby jonathan.. or maybe about valentine's experiments or .. gosh i don't want to think too far off the rails but honestly it could be something to do with other dealings he had with angels and demons. things that might nod toward either twp or tvbotd. or maybe luke and jocelyn have some encounter with faeries or like idk fucking rosemary even. ofc this is all complete conjecture and we could very well get a piece about them cuddling after drinking too much while valentine is out on patrol or something and i would be happy with that too. but idk the placement of the story feels significant.

one thing i hate in fics is when they say that alec is less flexible than magnus, matt being less flexible than harry? absolutely.

but ALEC LIGHTWOOD accomplished warrior, master archer, and much more, being less flexible than magnus just doesn’t make sense to me,

There are a lot of different types of 'flexible' but I will agree that like... Magnus' physicality is absolutely partly about knowing he can handle any situation thrown at him, is part self-defense and psychological armor and health, strengthens his magic and his mind and his mood, but it's also for FUN and dancing and teasing and playing!

And all of that, even the self-defense & fighting when necessary, is entirely different than the physicality of a trained soldier who fights every single damned day of his life and has since he was (at least) ten, and probably younger.

(Shadowhunters were all child-soldiers! They're deeply fucked up and violent and competent! EMPHASIS ON VIOLENTLY COMPETENT.)

And I wrote a whole tangent on child-soldiers and Alec as a mentor but that is NOT WHAT THIS IS ABOUT WHOOPS, I'll try and come back to that somewhere else at some point.

The whole point of Shadowhunters, however, is that they can successfully fight demons AND (however reprehensible this bit is) they have the skill & power to subjugate the entire Down World, including the Warlocks who have vast and flexible magical powers that can pretty much do anything they want them to.

Now, part of this is numbers, because even if they are in a constantly losing battle against the demons, they do still have children which as far as we know none of the Downworlders can manage.

But part of this must be that they can, in fact, handle/fight against magic, demonic skills, and people who have hundreds to thousands of years of experience keeping themselves alive in a world that is hostile to them. They can hold their own against vampires and werewolves and warlocks and even seelie knights who ALSO TRAIN TO FIGHT FOR DECADES OR CENTURIES, because the fae do in fact prefer to stay in their own realm rather than fight for an equal seat at the table with the nephilim.

Like. WTF think about that. The Seelie Queen is capricious and powerful and power-hungry and terrifying and she lets her people be second-class citizens in our realm because it's not worth trying to fight the nephilim.

Now part of that is clearly she doesn't want to have to be the one dealing with demons and she does in fact have her own realm to live in, but still.

STILL.

Nephilim must be absolutely horrifying.

The most famous 'greeting' from angels when they meet humanity is "Be Not Afraid" but nephilim want and encourage that fear.

They are infected with angelic grace in a way that overrides their humanity, in a way that even overrides demonic power, because children of nephilim are always nephilim even when they don't know it, even when one of their parents is demonic or Downworlder. (Even Jonathan Morgenstern is still a nephilim, as well as everything else he is because of Lilith's blood & Valentine's abuse.) They have runes to enhance and control and shape their angelic grace, but even without a single rune activated they are not mundane.

Even a bb!nephilim with minimal training like Clary can survive being thrown off a building and breaking every part of her body. She survives! (When apparently unprepared and without active runes!) Long enough to be healed with magic/iratzes/handwaved-something-or-other off screen and for it to be entirely irrelevant five minutes later. Alec gets stabbed in the heart with adamas (which has been shown to be very hard to heal from in other contexts!) and is fine the next episode! We all kind of complained about the lack of healing/comfort/explanation in the show, but THINK ABOUT IT.

They can heal from almost anything to the point that they're child soldiers who don't even have to learn what mundanes would consider basic first aid because they don't need it.

Magnus puts on a good show but he is terrified of the Circle returning. Now there are a lot of very good reasons for this, including politics and prejudice and systemic power structures but it is also because nephilim even on an individual level are terrifying.

They have to be, or their historic ability to oppress the rest of the world falls apart. They can neutralize and hold their own against vast cosmic powers (the more powerful demons) and ancient vicious capricious warriors who have no love for them (fae) and/or wild magic powered by incredibly emotional beings who are terrified for their lives and souls and giving it their all because they have absolutely nothing the fuck left to lose (warlocks), and the nephilim consistently, reliably, win.

Not without cost, of course, but still. They win. They are not trained to survive or outlast or get away to hide and fight back another day, which is clearly the goal of most Down Worlders. They are trained to end a threat quickly and economically and sacrifice themselves if necessary to do it. (Survival is preferable, so you're around to fight the next thing too, but it is understood that it is not always possible.)

Realistically, this means that if a nephililm is actually trying to fight they will be able to do things with their body that are impossible, and they will be able to work through damage that would be fatal to everyone else without even flinching, and if you're close enough to see how a nephilim can really move you're probably already dead you just don't know it yet.

“Is this really necessary?” Alexander asks as Magnus portals him blindfolded away from the loft.

“Yes.” Magnus assures him, keeping him stable as he guides him through the portal to the little alcove hidden for warlocks in the gardens, he’s brought them too. It’s with a kiss and a flourish of magic that he unveils the setting to Alexander, disintegrating the blindfold with a little flare that goes unnoticed or appreciated.

“Oh fuck.” Alexander stares wide-eyed and he turns in a slow circle, his hand finding Magnus’ and squeezing harshly, his delight too strong to be contained. “Where are we?”

“Singapore’s Botanical Gardens.” Magnus tells him with relish, and he delights in the awe on Alexander’s face as he looks at the various plants. “It’s the nicest and one of the oldest mundane gardens. I’ll take you to the seelie ones soon enough.” And here Magnus pulls Alexander out onto the path, “now come along darling, we have places to go and plants to see.”

It’s not often that Alexander gets to enjoy and appreciate the mundane world, but he does when it comes to plants and Magnus watches with amusement as Alexander carefully avoids the mundane children running around them. His tall shadowhunter is used to people parting for him in the downworld but even here, unglamoured, he acts like they can’t see him. The fluidity of his motion catches attention and Alexander himself only has eyes for Magnus, and the plants of course.

Alexander shrugs and then hesitantly explains, “I’m not sure how delicate mundane children are. Seelie, nephilim and warlock kids are all pretty sturdy from what I know. I’m not sure about werewolves and well, there are very few vampire children.”

Magnus shares a look at him with that, because born vampires are rare and powerful and definitely not delicate, they’re also created in ritual rather than in birth.

“Valid.” Magnus allows and he pulls Alexander close for a quick kiss that his magic will blur.  There’s never a need to introduce Alexander to mundane homophobia and while Magnus is incredibly out and proud, he’s not going to subject an unprepared and vulnerable Alexander to the disdain of mundanes.

Especially when Alexander is more likely to just swat any aggressive mundanes away — like a fly — and Magnus is still trying to figure out how to avoid those kinds of situations. So he hides away their kisses from their worlds and while they hold hands, Magnus ensures that there is a discreet magic placed on them, to discourage curious gazes.

It’s the safest way to curate their experiences in unfamiliar places and while Magnus hates it’s necessary, he can’t say that he minds hiding away Alexander’s intimacies from the world. There’s something almost sacred, about adoring and worshipful hazel eyes watching Magnus with the kind of devotion offered to gods and angels and even demons.

Alexander acts like Magnus is his god, his angel, his reason for existence and it makes Magnus wants to destroy and remake the world, so that it better suits his boy’s taste.  Instead, Magnus leans in for another quick kiss and then pulls away, reaching up to use magic and gently create a crown of the opal peonies Alexander recently planted on their roof. The image of Alexander, crowned in peonies against a backdrop of rich green foliage and Magnus has to remind himself that he can just create a pocket dimension for his boy, he doesn’t have to destroy the world to make him happy.

Even if it is tempting.

btw since i was asked about hsr story, like i do think its okay, but i have say i do not take it seriously. bc like, the jarilo story is fine and all if you view it solely as bronya and seelie' cute enemies to lovers romance with princess and a trump tones.

but if you take it in any way seriously, then the ending is horrendous. bronya lying about her mother being a horrible villain and a tyrant and painting her as a hero to preserve the status quo, which allows for her position as an absolute ruler. bc like if people from underground knew what actually happened, they would not allow her to keep the same system going. but the basis of system is completely fucked, its benevolent dictatorship, and like even if we presume that bronya is an angel and makes all the right decisions, there's no way to guarantee next dictator won't seal ppl in undergrounds radioactive ghetto again or worse.

Explanations and other notes below the cut:

'Capitano is from Natlan, for some reason'- I debated whether or not his backstory counted, because I meant that he was born and/or raised there, but I ultimately decided that 'was here for an extended period of time as an adult' counts.

'Paimon and Traveler act really fucking racist'- this one is actually about 5.0. In the last update, I mentioned Paimon's racism in Mualani's quest, but that I haven't found Traveler being racist yet. Ashesofdawn pointed this out;

Other thoughts: (or, well, there's only 1 this time)

I feel like I should clarify what I mean by 'new lore' vs 'expanding on old lore' (or as I phrased it in the bingo, setting up new plot points vs answering old ones). Essentially, new lore is any lore that is either entirely new stuff never referenced before (ex. aranara + pari), is only vaguely connected to older lore (ex. melusines), or 'expansion of old lore' that just blatantly disregards what it's supposed to be expanding on (ex. the all Fontainians are oceanids bullshit).

On the other hand, expanding on old lore is, well, exactly what it sounds like. Expanding on the stuff that was set up... pretty much anything pre-Sumeru I would say? Expansion means giving new info, not just casually reminding you that it exists. For example, that moment in the Natlan act 4 cutscene that (presumably) showed what is behind the false sky expands on false sky lore, but Dottore saying 'hey Nahida do u want to know about the false sky' just reminds you about it.

And so, in the case of Natlan, this is the stuff I consider to be new lore/plot points;

- saurians, and the idea that the dragons were a human-like society that built machinery.

- ancient names.

- the general idea that Natlan has been in a huge war with the Abyss and has been extremely different from the other nations this whole time. I mean, how was this never acknowledged at any point in the first 5 nations if it was planned to be a thing? This is a MASSIVE thing!

- the situation with the pyro archon. Again, how has none of this ever been mentioned by the other archons??? Surely Venti, Zhongli, and maybe Ei would know about it? It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't.

-the stuff with Ororon's soul.

And this is the Natlan stuff that is expansion of old lore/answering old plot points;

- the stuff with the shade of death.

- confirmation that seelies are angels.

- the hint about the false sky stuff.

So, ultimately, I feel like there is more new lore than old lore, but there is still enough expanding on old lore that I kind of want to wait until the archon quest is over to say for sure that it's mostly new lore.

Hey wouldn't it be fucked up if Khaenri'ans weren't human. If the they prided themselves on was a lie. Because the people of Fontaine didn't know they were oceanids. So it is possible, for it to be lost to history. King Irmin, did you know? Or were you just as blind as the public?

So what if they were part angel, making them Nephilim? Summoning people from another world, to fight against heaven. Just like the first Seelie and her lover, fighting for their love. Did she know it would cause the death of her race? Or did she just want to be loved and appreciated? Was she not getting that in heaven? Or was he her heaven?

WHAT HAPPEND TO GOOD MORNING????

Everytime I think of the first Seelie and her lover I sob....There's something so human about her and her love. Seelie's are born and raised to serve humanity, made to guide them and you would think they'd hold some resentment towards them for that but

They don't.

The First Seelie loved a human so much she doomed her sisters. The Seelie we see now STILL guide us and are remined of their past. Baby Seelie choose to stay with us because they have no family. Even Nabu loved humanity and it loved her back.

Maybe the Seelie and the Khaenri'ans felt the same way when their kingdoms fell. Did they run? Did they start crying? Did they try to save whatever and whoever they could?

Khaenri'ans were sinners who were punished because they didn't worship the very ground the Gods walked on.

The Seelie were angels who were punished because they worshiped the very ground humans walked on.

Why? Well, petunias once symbolized anger and resentment

So like how he feels about Celestia and the archons

Nowadays some of the meaning has been lost, but I think that works with how Teyvat has moved on on the surface

However, there’s still a lasting effect from the tragedy

He also wouldn’t go by petunia cookie, since that’s not super intimidating

So I’m gonna give him “jester cookie”

He would definitely take some bitter amusement in the irony

Another flower guy

I’m giving him poppies, since those are traditionally used to remember fallen soldiers

He also wouldn’t go by his ingredient name, bc poppies aren’t very intimidating

So he would be something like “captain cookie” or “warrior cookie”

He has definitely lost soldiers on the battlefield, so I think poppies are fitting

Maybe he even lost some of himself on the battlefield too…

Since most of his appearance is hidden, you wouldn’t be able to tell poppies are his ingredient

But if I were to design his cookie clothes, I would place poppies on his uniform

Personally, I think she would be a sugar cookie made from special or magical sugar, or even a very light cake, like chiffon

Regardless, she isn’t a normal cookie

I think she and angel cookie would get along lmao

Oof she’s another hard one, since we don’t know much about her

Gonna call her ice shard cookie

She’s a sharp and stern character, so she would be made of something harsh

But she is still a force to be reckoned with

If she must, she would be called “knave cookie”

She’s one of the few I actually have ideas for their skill so

She would use an icicle as a fencing sword

Similar to raspberry cookie, but I feel like arle would be an ambush and target the opponent with the least amount of HP

Maybe do some aoe frost damage

He’s a hard one, but kasha cookie

Kasha is a healthy, hearty grain dish, like oatmeal, but even more grain

Partially bc it’s a health food for older people (sorry nella /lh)

But also partially because it’s sturdy and stable

Idk it just makes sense to me since he’s a government official that seems to do his job well

I feel like he would be made of wood and ingredient substitutions

Carved and molded into a perfect imitation of a cookie

As balladeer cookie, he would have lightning based attacks that just function as dps dmg

As wanderer cookie, he would have air based attacks that do less damage than balladeer, but also debuff enemies and buff allies

French Sandy is my current religion so

Her perfectionism just suits the food

She would go by “marionette cookie”

No ingredient substitutions here, but she would def still experiment on other cookies

Her attacks would involve puppet strings trapping opponents, dealing damage and debuffing them

If you look up “blood rose flower,” you’ll see a beautiful dark red rose that gives gothic vibes

Honestly my reasoning lies in the name

Roses are romantic, but black roses represent revenge

So blood roses are somewhat a cross between the two

She would go by blood rose cookie before the Fatui, but after joining, she would be “fair lady cookie”

Third of all, it can be served hot or cold, and I think that fits Childe’s personality well

He wouldn’t go by borscht cookie, since he doesn’t go by Ajax in canon

He would be called shashka cookie, after his weapons
