E.g. A place of worship who worships on Sunday and their land was on earth. After running into someone from out of town, she adjusted their environment to how she is used to worshipping. It’s dark, creepy, it screams underground and scary, cold, and alone. After running into me somewhere and my family thing going on, in this epoch, that same space transformed and immediately connected straight up to the kingdom of heaven. It was cool, fluid, airy, but warm and safer. That’s because I’m used to a certain environment and frequency based off my life flow too & I’m a new spiritual leader whose job is to tune environments to the frequency of heaven. That stuff is interesting.. 🤔

When doing that stuff, you expose your mind and spirit. You also end up affecting other people and their pathways to heaven there too, so… be careful.

hi dear yes i can recommend a few things that helped me! so it kind of depends what phase you're in but when i was first deconstructing i really loved the writing of sarah bessey, i enjoyed all her books but specifically jesus feminist helped show me a different picture of christianity. others in a similar vein are jeff chu and nadia bolz-weber (i would also recommend all of their newsletters). i also really liked brennan manning at that point. ymmv but i had to get rid of the young earth creationism so things like biologos and the language of science and faith by francis collins were really helpful to me. really can't stress enough how learning about evolution and the grand scale and interconnectedness of living things helped me dispose of the weird stunted anthropocentric worldview and honestly helped some with the end times shit too.

again depending on where you're at it may be helpful to go to services of other denominations and/or religions (quaker and episcopal churches helped me a lot). however i do think it's probably good for the ex sda soul to just not go to church for a while if you can and haven't tried that, particularly if you were super indoctrinated like i was. i felt like such a a sinner for this and it took me YEARS to start feeling normal about saturday being a regular day of the week and not Thee lord's day when you can't do so much as go out to eat etc but i did do it and i'm glad to report the weekend is so much better this way lmao. also i got a spiritual director! she's great and i would recommend considering that option if you find yourself wanting more personal and professional help/guidance on this journey.

after i got out of the initial trenches i got into deeper and more intellectually challenging (at least to me lol) writing like the medieval mystics, simone weil, christian wiman, richard rambuss, etc. those aren't necessarily relevant to this question though that's just what i was drawn to. also i'm not a podcast person but i think there's several exvangelical/deconstruction podcasts around if thats your thing although i can't recommend any personally.

remember to be gentle and very honest with yourself....the fundie rationale is that they have the only objectively right answer to everything by taking the bible (and for sda ellen white) super literally and the further away from them you get the more patently ridiculous that becomes, but it can obviously be frightening to see your whole worldview crumble. un/fortunately we are all just kind of here and trying to figure it (whatever it is) out more or less as best we can and there's not one right way to have (or not have) a relationship with god. luckily for all of us there's a lot less pressure than the evangelicals make it seem like. i will drop a couple tags that should have some other reading recommendations if you're interested!

Many of you will have seen the recent Tickle v Giggle ruling which concerned a transwoman wanting access to a female-exclusive social app, with the result that the transwoman was considered legally female. This motivated me to look into the history of the Sex Discrimination Act, which was introduced by Hon. Susan Ryan AO. She has written:

"Many women were opposed. The wonderfully named ‘Women Who Want to be Women’—the ‘4Ws’—were numerous, vociferous and very well organised, arranging for thousands of petitions against the Ryan Act to be shovelled into the chambers each day, typically on pink paper. Other women’s groups of the right saw the idea of removing sex barriers to jobs as scary and undermining of their comfortable stay-at-home arrangements with their husbands. On the left, the Women’s Electoral Lobby (WEL) was strongly in support, but other feminists decided we were compromising too much and that an imperfect law was worse than no law. Although I had and still have friends—scholars I admire—who took this view, I have to reject it."

The Women's Electoral Lobby still exists as a feminist organisation in Australia, describing itself as "proudly reformist".

Back in 2013, the SDA was amended, now including sexual orientation, gender identity and intersex status.

The name Sex Discrimination Act also provides a clue about who can bring forward a complaint under it, which includes men.

The National Museum of Australia describes:

"The Sex Discrimination Act was a largely successful attempt to ensure that women had the same access to jobs, services and accommodation as men. It also made sexual harassment illegal for the first time in Australia and set up the Office of the Sex Discrimination Commissioner. As such it helped redefine the role of women in Australian society. The act was passed, despite vocal opposition from a minority of parliamentarians and public interest groups."

I am going to move on from "largely successful" and the framing as though support of the SDA was obvious to the majority to focus on something that galls me more. Another quote on that page is this:

"A growing awareness of the inequalities faced by women was reflected in the United Nations decision to make 1975 International Women’s Year, and 1976–85 the Decade for Women."

Growing awareness?

On their Equal Pay for Women page:

"These workers formed women’s employment organisations to fight for their working conditions and rights. In 1943 their lobbying led the Australian Government to establish the Women’s Employment Board and secured women 75 per cent of the male wage for performing the same jobs. Prior to this, women had been receiving around two-thirds (or less) of the male wage."

But I suppose all these men in the decades from then simply weren't aware that women were being paid less for the same work, despite codifying it into policy. I suppose men weren't aware of the sexual harassment they inflicted on women which the SDA sought to address.

Awareness. Might as well suggest the issue was a lack of fundraisers. They were aware. It was convenient for them. Less convenient when women organise.

In light of this, let's take a closer look at the Lesbian Action Group. (readers should note that this post contains links sourced from anti-trans associations. if you're using Shinigami Eyes, I'm sure you're seeing a lot of red.)

The Lesbian Action Group is apart of the Australian chapter of notorious intersexist anti-trans hate group the LGB Alliance. The LGB Alliance was established back in 2019 in the UK, reportedly splitting off from the prominent LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall (named after the monumental historical event of the Stonewall Riots) over the charity's stance on transgender matters and refusal to allow for debate on said matters. Presumably, this ever-so devisive stance, was Stonewall's announcement of dedication to trans equality back in 2015 (note: this link is to the Trans People and Stonewall report pdf. Available by means of The British Library.) Dissenters argued, that the charity no longer represented them, and that they were promoting a 'trans agenda.' As an organisation, the LGB Alliance has claimed that: gender-affirming therapy is conversion-therapy; amab trans and gender-diverse people cannot be lesbians and afab trans and gender-diverse youth existing is lesbian erasure; puberty blockers are mind-altering(?); sex is not a spectrum; among other things. Also, it seems suggested in their glossary of terms, that people can identify other people as trans, regardless of that person's own self-determination. They claim to value "factual" and "honest" communication, yet ironically, frequently spread misinformation, and simply source a twitter status in some cases (I could not verify personally the nature of the tweets, as I do not have a twitter account, nor do I want to, but a trusted person assures me quite frankly that they're opinions). They have gone on to establish chapters in many countries. Now, onto the Lesbian Action Group. Given the group exists under the Australian chapter of the LGB Alliance, they follow the same core values, and quite obviously so. The Lesbian Action Group claims that lesbians can no-longer legally assemble in single-sex spaces. This is unequivocally false. The Lesbian Action Group seek to publicly assemble, which is an entirely different matter. They also claim trans-only events are widespread, which I cannot find evidence of, which suggests if they do exist, they follow the Sex Discrimination Act 1984, unlike what was proposed by the Lesbian Action Group, and are in fact, importantly, not public events.

The Lesbian Action Group may fall within the definition of a ‘voluntary body’ under the SDA.6 However, the Lesbian Action Group is not seeking an exemption to discriminate in connection with the admission of persons as members, or the provision of benefits, facilities or services only to its members, as permitted by s 39 of the SDA. Rather, the Lesbian Action Group seeks to hold public events restricted to ‘lesbians born female’ and to advertise those events ‘widely and publicly’, beyond their membership base. The Commission is of the view that the s 39 exemption does not apply in these circumstances, where the provision of ‘benefits, facilities or services’ is proposed to extend to persons beyond members of the Lesbian Action Group. (quote text sure is large.) In a bit of a side tangent, I'd like to mention this division within Australian lesbian spaces has been going on for at least 30 years. So while they may claim things about what lesbian means and what women are, I know there are likely many Australian lesbians in their 50s and 60s who disagree (yes they exist! isn't that wonderful? I'm going to make a post later about all the wonderful things i've found researching this!) I also think it's important to mention that the single-sex exemptions of gay hotels, The Laird, and The Peel, mentioned in the Lesbian Action Group's purpose statement (maybe I should just start calling them LAG) and male exemptions granted section, allow trans men. Certainly a claim, LAG cannot make. LAG doesn't consider trans women 'women' after all. (also not entirely relevent but there used to be a Lesbian Action Group back in the 80s who I assume are seperate from the current.) LAG makes mention of a trans-only (the article title in the link says trans and gender-diverse) swimming event. While it may have indeed existed, I cannot ascertain the nature of it as the link they supplied. led to a 404 page, and The Wayback Machine's only capture documented the same 404 page. Also, I believe a bloody good distinction to be made is that LAG is going for a public event and in contrast, The Laird and The Peel are hotels. Those aren't events. Those are places. Also, unsurprisingly, one of the main defenders within the preliminary review is the LGB Alliance Australia. Anyway, I'm really tired of seeing their stuff, so here's a bit from Q+Law.

Anyway, I would say more, but I am so damn tired. I have spent the last several days reading and watching LGB Alliance material and that of LAG, and it has just been a progressively terrible experience. I'm sure you can see the quality dropping off throughout this and I do apologise for that. I wanted to make this more comprehensive, and maybe I'll go into these groups more in the future, but I can't take anymore days of this right now. Yeah, so I apologise if I've made some errors.
