SCP-4739 isolates its victim from the outside world by enveloping them in an antimemetic field which makes it impossible for the victim, or anything done by the victim, to be perceived or remembered. SCP-4739 then consumes the victim's memories and knowledge until they become vegetative and die. This process takes between 15 minutes and 2 hours and is described as being "like Alzheimer's disease in fast-forward".
they should let eeshie laborb do this to people

every time i crack open the internals of my site i feel like i'm stepping into inverted containment to witness the horrors that always surrounded me. i aint cut out for this async research shit
context for those who haven't read one of my favorite series:
The SCP entry which you are currently reading is created and maintained by victims of SCP-4739, because it is only visible to victims of SCP-4739. If you are reading this SCP entry, SCP-4739 has caught you. You are now isolated from the Foundation at large and constitute an effective Foundation of one. You have between 15 minutes and 2 hours to reach Site 41, basement level 8, laboratory 053, familiarise yourself with the existing research, and continue this research until you find a way to contain or decommission SCP-4739, or, more likely, die. If your field of expertise is not related to antimemetic containment, we sincerely apologise, and advise you to start learning. Fast.
Still lost for a logical entry point to the data, Wheeler curses all of her predecessors. Asynchronous research — whereby the research topic is forgotten entirely between iterations, and rediscovered over and over — is a perfectly standard practice in the Antimemetics Division, and her people ought to be better trained than this. There should be an obvious single document to read first which makes sense of the rest. A primer—
you're only as good at antimemetics on your first day as you ever are, and chat i would be COOKED

scp idea: 90% of the article is the conprocs that start off in the usual vague and objective tone of usual articles except it becomes increasingly clear that the whole thing is being written by an inexperienced junior researcher terrified out of their mind writing out what they are actively doing to try to survive and contain an entity no one else can help them with. kind of inspired by Introductory Antimemetics and the 4739 article in there, but instead of everyone writing one entry into the article before they die it's one person writing multiple entries in between events and becoming increasingly terrified and unprofessional after starting out actually trying to stay in the right tone but slowly breaking down.

do u have a link to the scp 4739 story ? couldtn find it im dumb as rocks
heres the milk article in the actual slot i found when i googled the number
heres the story the anon was referencing. it is definitely an addition to my Beautiful Collection of Urs (monsters, ideally specifically demons, that remove concepts/people/things from existence entirely by eating them, which has an effect so total that characters do not know the eaten thing ever existed and it may even be obscured to the readers as well. 'ur' being the demon that does that in pact). that said i do feel the same way about it that i do about a lot of scp short stories, which is "good concept, execution kind of underplays the horror of it." still endeared to the concept though

SCP-4739 has consumed ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| ||||| |||| Foundation researchers since we started counting on August 3, 2013. (If you are reading this entry for the first time, please add a mark.) We estimate at least 50% of victims never make it as far as this database entry, so the true victim count is more than twice this figure.

oh i see the actual scp slot has a different thing in it than the short story which calls the scp mentioned in the ask scp-4739. mystery solved
