#SATC REBOOT

As much as I strongly dislike And Just Like That. I did certainly cry when Gloria Steinem showed up on screen. I’m glad it was a little more than just a quick cameo. She was SO important to the women’s movement. Her activism changed the course of history. To me, her appearance reminded me of how much the original SATC changed things for women in the 90s. Being able to be open and comfortable with the topic of sex. Teaching a generation of women to love themselves and the value of their female friendships. It ushered in the new wave of feminism. For all of the faults of the reboot, it certainly got one thing right. And just like that, it might not be so bad after all.

what was the sjp and kim beef about?
Not sure about the details bc I didn’t wanna look them up for fear of spoilers lol, but allegedly SJP got paid more than Kim even though they had equal screen time. SJP was also a producer on satc and purposefully wrote weird storylines for Samantha. And apparently the rest of the cast bullied her / were jealous of her shine ?? If true this is pretty awful stuff

What motivates you to write for Calzona in 2022?????
well i started watching greys for the first time in february so it's not like it's been a decade for me the way it has been for more established fans. i guess what motivates me is the fact that they just dug under my skin and made me want to write again!

Hello, you! Twenty-five years ago this month, a fictional columnist named Carrie Bradshaw introduced us to her corner of New York with “Sex and the City”—a swirl of reality and fantasy so delicious that even after six seasons, two feature films, and a prequel, we still wanted more.
Now, for Vogue’s new digital cover—arriving just in time for season two of “And Just Like That,” the reboot that reunited Carrie, her friends, and her city in 2021—Sarah Jessica Parker stars in the ultimate #SATC tribute video: a visual homage to the show, the star, the mythology, the fashion, and New York, with all its possibilities and personalities. nobody cares, but i am actually willing to defend and just like that for the following reasons:
it's one of few reboots that i actually find justifiable, since the original series followed the lives of four women within the context of modern relationship dynamics (the fact that Samantha isn't in the reboot is a big fail, but Kim Cattrall has her reasons not to participate and I respect that)
the scenes that read like wikihow listicles on how to be woke (for instance the saree scene) actually aren't a new addition to the canon, since the original satc was also a how to guide to life in the city (which was also stated explicitly at one point), and a lot of it is about figuring out the rules of relationships and modern life
people just now noticing that they're all very wealthy women is insane to me. maybe their wealth as single women 25 years ago is easier to romanticise, but they were rich women from the beginning
che diaz is a good choice (fight me). they behave extremely shittily towards miranda, which does infuriate me, but what made the original series so special is that the characters weren't morally black or white, they are very human. and i was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they weren't portrayed as a perfect angel and the posterchild of their identity like many lgbtq characters have to be in media. so i hate them but i will defend them
on that note: miranda's changing sexuality and her mid-life crisis aren't that shocking, and she is the perfect character through which the show can explore sex- and loveless marriages, alcoholism, the feeling of dissatisfaction with one's own life, and many other things. the reboot doesn't show these women's happy perfect lives, because that would be boring, and, suprise suprise, life is still complicated after you get married and have kids.
charlotte's kids are spoiled upper class brats? yeah no shit
when people complain about the reboot not having the same vibe as the original series, i think that they're missing the point. it can't have the same snappy wit as the first three seasons (which is both easier to turn into a meme/iconic moment (btw i love those scenes to death, i'm not criticising them)) because their lives are different, but also satc had already evolved past that; the later seasons did explore longer story lines, and we watched the women grow and tap into their emotions and build relationships over longer periods of time;
That being said, I will always remember the original much more fondly and will continue to rewatch it and revisit it, whereas I doubt that I will form the same kind of connection to the reboot.

My OTP was always adult Lily and adult Brady--Charlotte's daughter and Miranda's son from SATC. I love babies ever after, I love when friends hatch a plot to get their kids together.
In "And Just Like That"...now that that's canon, I can't wait to see how these writers are going to utterly ruin the ship.
Other updates:
I can't believe I'm back to shipping Aiden and Carrie. Carrie was SO AWFUL to him. I'm glad his ex-wife told her to not hurt him again. (And to please not use her children for article content, it's a very fair ask.) But I dunno. I just love Aiden so much and it SEEMS like they're doing the work and Carrie is open about sharing her life with his kids...
I kinda like the angle that Aiden is unwilling to come into her apartment, because he is intensely triggered by the heartbreak and hurt there. That makes a lot of sense for his character.
Meh on Seema's new romance, but for characters like Seema and Samantha--jesus I just realized how similar Seema and Samantha are, they really were just like 'let's have a new Samantha but make her Indian'--I usually am meh on their romance.
I'm glad Nya's living her best life.
Christopher Jackson's character has been bugging me on how blase he's been about his wife's career, but I liked that little twisty reveal at the end. (I LIKE. BABIES. GET OFF ME.)
Che is gradually growing on me, like a cancerous tumor.
Miranda remains the worst, but I like her new chic Lesbian look.
Charlotte pendulum swinging on whether it's good or bad if Brady and Lily are together--it could mess up her friendship with Miranda if they broke up BUT WOULDN'T THEIR KIDS BE CUTE that is a very in-character Charlotte reaction.
STILL MISSING SAMANTHA JONES I am firmly team Kim Cattrall but the reboot series has s u f f e r e d without her electric presence and I'm glad they're paying her a cool million to come back, she deserves it.

Loot on Apple TV got no promotion and nobody I know has seen it….it’s kind of so cute and mindless. I don’t even know anything it reminds me of. It’s like what the satc reboot thinks it is.

So glad you also hate Big from SATC coz i litcherally hate him and urgh she should have ended up with Aiden but anyways 🤷🏽‍♀️ altho I am so happy Charlotte got everything she wanted 🥰🥰🥰
Big just doesn't make sense to me he's an old boring man if he wasn't rich he'd be a creepy weirdo! Also yes i love charlotte and harry ❤️ like harry, aiden, & steve r the best men in satc (steve b4 they made him cheat on miranda - but that's not a steve thing to do so out of character) also i'm kinda glad samantha is not in the reboot now i like to think she's somewhere overseas having the time of her life 🥰

The First Carrie Bradshaw Fashion Looks From ‘And Just Like That’ Season 3
Carrie Bradshaw is back..and while Season 3 of And Just Like That isn’t set to premiere until sometime in 2025, the first fashion looks have emerged. Sarah Jessica Parker was snapped in New York this week, hot off the heels of her Met Gala appearance, filming the SATC reboot. Dressed in a tiered pink skirt (reminiscent of her iconic pink tulle skirt from Season 1 of SATC, and a mint green…
