Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck the goddamn music-
I don't know the name for the technique but there's this thing that was in there that's the string players, like, tapping the instrument with the bow to create a more percussive sound and normally I wouldn't think too much of it but I swear to god it sounded like creeping spider legs. During the case set at Hill Top Road. With the very obvious references to the Buried and the Stranger and all the rest. Which dropped about a hundred Achives references including Jon's fucking name???
I have always respected the soundscaping they do at Rusty Quill but they're really going above and beyond for this show.

so. tmagp 7.
it cannot be a coincidence that as SOON as celia starts talking about things very obviously from the tma universe, chester/jon starts speaking up.
i refuse to believe that it's a coincidence that after celia mentions looking for case files related to "being buried alive," a clear reference to The Buried, chester/jon starts reading a case file that is overtly what he (and we for that matter) would classify as a Buried statement.
not only is the case file chester/jon reads one of the most classically statement-like ones we have so far, given that there is only one fear and it is easily identifiable (other than episode 5 of course - voyeur is clearly an eye reference, ALSO read by chester/jon i'd point out), it is FILLED with other tma references. hilltop centre vs hill top road for one. as the case file describes, hilltop centre is burned down just like the original house on hill top road. also, a bunch of creepy objects being brought to one place certainly sounds like artifact storage doesn't it?
it is also an account written directly by the survivor of a supernatural encounter, something once again classically tma statement-like. the only other case file like that is technically episode 4 with the haunted violin - and who was that one read out by again? augustus? the one who is commonly theorized to be jonah? the founder of the magnus institute and the one who presumably chose the format of statements? a conversation for another time.
NOT TO MENTION:
Tumblr media
YOU GOT AN EMAIL FROM 'JOHN' SAM? YOU SURE THE H IS NECESSARY?
this is jon (or at least some part of him) reaching and clawing for the first indication of someone else from his home in this new reality. this is jon trying to get to the only person he has access to that seems to be curious enough to question what the hell is going on. this has to be jon.

Chester, [ERROR], and Jonathan Sims: The Anthill Theory
Hello Tumblr, may I present a follow up to my initial thesis that [ERROR] is Jon? As well as a rebuttal to the argument I've seen floating around:
"[ERROR] can't be Jon! Jon is in the computers!"
Why are you treating these like two distinct eventualities?
Jon died as an omniscient, omnipotent demi-god half a step down from The Eye itself. Jon died at the exact moment that he was pulled through a rift in space-time. If Jon survived that, I doubt he'd end up human on the other side. He'd probably end up as something else entirely.
Something none of us, and none of the Protocol-universe characters, have ever seen before.
"Imagine you are an ant, and you have never before seen a human - "
1. We have Chester, who has Jon's voice, and has shown signs of autonomy and a personality where Norris and Augustus have not.
I have another meta post picking apart the fr3-d1 stuff, but for the sake of staying on topic, I will show an abbreviated, summarized list from that post below:
Mystery emails sent to various OIAR employees:
Episode 4: Gwen receives an email from an unknown source showing Lena trying to kill Klaus
Episode 4: "the system" sends Alice a notification that Sam searched for "Magnus" and "protocol"
Episode 7: Sam receives an email from a "John" with an internal email address, with Gerry's name and address
Episode 20: Sam receives an email from a garbled email address, with documents from 1999 regarding Starkwall and TMI
Error messages:
Episode 3: Alice receives a jmj error that Colin troubleshoots. Freddy snarks back at both of them
Episode 17: Alice receives a jmj error that Gwen troubleshoots. There are plenty of error noises, but imo it comes across less snarky than it did in episode 3
Other miscellaneous interactions:
Episode 5: Alice: "what the hell is wrong with everyone today?" OIAR computer, not having been touched or interacted with: [error noise]
Episode 17: Chester reads a universe-hopping statement to Celia
Episode 19: Sam asks Alice to talk with him about the Magnus Institute. Immediately, Alice's computer throws an error, like it wants her to stop working and talk with Sam
Magnus Institute Statements read to Sam:
All of the below statements are read out by Chester, and are (meant to be, in 21) read out to Sam specifically:
Episode 1: RedCanary
Episode 9: the cursed dice Magnus statement. This one starts on its own, while Sam is doing the Response Dept paperwork
Episode 14: the snake emporium. I'd almost mark this one as too much of a stretch, but Sam himself caught the Institute mention and was bothered by it
Episode 19: the one with Newton's alchemical tree that talks about the Protocol
Episode 21: the one about the Dome construction in the 90s, which Alice intercepts on Sam's computer
As far as I can see, the only statement that mentions the Magnus Institute that isn't read by Chester to Sam is the one that is read by Chester to Celia, as mentioned above
In terms of Norris and Augustus:
Martin was pulled through the rift at the exact same time as Jon, except as someone mostly human. Relatively human.
Jonah was too, but Jonah was already a static dead body at the moment of the rift - it wasn't the released potential energy of his death that catalyzed and pulled everything through the rift.
It makes sense, to me, that if all three of them are here, Jon is in a uniquely powerful/sentient position in comparison to the other two. Which leads us to point 2:
2. We have [ERROR], exhibiting characteristics that are indicative of Jon and no one else
See my other meta post for more info, but in summary:
The tape recorders spawned specifically for Jon in TMA, via the Web
Did even Elias show abilities to compel people to give their statement? He could tell people their statement, and force images into their heads, but could he force it out of their mouths? I don't remember seeing that
Along with the other evidence that isn't Jon-specific but is indicative of a TMA character:
They were initially trapped underneath the Magnus Institute - which could also be Jonah, or Martin
Their apparent desire to protect Gwen and "all of them" - which could also be Martin, or some non-familiar benevolent being
Jon being Chester and Jon being [ERROR] are not mutually exclusive.
Who's to say Jon, the Archivist, or what's become of him, or what's left of him, isn't the fingernail, and the boot, and the eye? Maybe he's even something else we, the ant, never live to see, or don't have the senses to perceive at all!
Additionally!
I think this might even tentatively explain why [ERROR] is voiced by Beth Eyre instead of Jonny - beyond "it would be way too obvious if they want it to be a plot twist"
If Jon/the Archivist is split into multiple parts of the same whole, in this universe. If, in the chaos of interdimensional travel, traits/attributes/parts of Jon were not distributed equally or correctly. For our anthill example, perhaps the color of our gazing eye, or the rubber material of our stomping boot, was applied to our fingernail instead. Maybe [ERROR] should have Jon's voice, but they don't. Maybe they didn't have a voice at all. We didn't hear them say anything at all in episode 10, only take a deep breath
Maybe they had to take a voice from one of their victims. Do you think there was a reason that we heard the autopsy statement secondhand, after the doctor transcribed it, rather than the victim's voice herself?
(When, as far as I know, the common ways to record information during autopsies is either with a voice recorder, or dictating to a secondary person to write, who was demonstrably not present? When, by all rights, there should have been a voice recorder present?)
I'm currently working on a master TMAGP timeline (and a TMA one otl), but an extremely abbreviated, specific version of it is as follows:
9 March: Sam and Alice visit the Magnus Institute and release [ERROR]
20 March: the autopsy victim is found dead in a park
22 March: Alice encounters the drowning woman
12 April: [ERROR] appears during Ink5oul's attack on Gwen
How many victims do they have, since Sam let them loose? Is it just the ones we've already seen, or were there others too?
This could go off in about 5000 different directions so I'm going to cut it here, but what I'm getting at here is - it makes a LOT of sense to me that we might be looking at another "creatures far beyond our comprehension" here; it'd make a lot of sense thematically; and it's just really freaking cool, if I'm being honest!!

THE MAGNUS PROTOCOL CONSPIRACY BOARD (Ep 27)
(all my theories will probably contain spoilers for all of TMA)
OK so, we can all agree that was Jonah Magnus writing, right? At least a Magnus. "The Institute would not have been founded, nor would my fellows have selected me for its leadership, much less its name"
If Augustus really is the voice of TMA's Jonah, this would be the first instance of someone from the TMA Universe giving voice to it's TMAGP's Universe counterpart. And that's pretty cool.
He also mentions "Boyle's meddling inheritors", pretty sure he's talking about Robert Boyle, founder of the Royal Society. How long has it been since?
The Royal Society was founded in 1660, and Presumably Jonah Magnus writes this in 1845. Saying "we have been undertaking this great work for three decades", does that put the foundation of the Institute around 1810? That's almost two centuries after the foundation of the Royal Society. But both organisations are definitely connected. Perhaps the Insitute was created to take the Royal Society experiments to the next level, to have the philosophers work together.
More things:
-TREVOR fucking HERBERT MP?? Speechless.
-Celia getting an email, and the address looks like "gibberish". That probably rules out Jon? When Sam got Jon's email, he didn't mention the address being gibberish... ARG friends, do we have any suspects?
-Do we think Celia knows what's in Hilltop? She def knows she's not from this universe, but does she know she came through Hilltop's crack in reality? Does she know about it?

For some reason, I’ve been very excited to hear this one even before I knew anything. Magnus Protocol 27 Driven spoilers below.
Oh, Lena is worried about the Minister. Doesn’t really want him around.
Oh, what’s Gwen special list for Alice?
Augustus! 1845…
Who is N. (Must avoid Death Note brain insisting it’s Near) I don’t think it can be Newton, it’s the wrong time period and I think it’s implied he spoke to him.
Oh my god. This man gave the Institute its name. It’s Jonah Magnus…it’s fucking Jonah Magnus!
So it’s Sam hearing this - another Institute story.
Pretty heavy emphasis on the word ‘eye’ there.
Disturbing cab driver. Quite a theme in Victorian ghostly tales, real and fictional.
Oh, I like this idea of making the ‘growlers’ actual real monsters.
So if Augustus is Jonah - and he just told his own casement - what are the chances Chester and Norris will tell casements from Jon and Martin?
Hmm. Feels like Archibald was quite Martin-like (at least at the beginning of Martin’s story)
Oh, this is horrifying….
Fear! It’s all about Fear! Jonah said so!
So this is the Magnus Institute first observation of a monster.
Oh, Alice. What’s wrong? Polish those knives, Alice.
Gwen got a weird email! Is it Jon? Glitch when Gwen says junk and deleted. Old files….
So - I think Alice and Gwen have been talking about the minister out of work…
Celia is printing again. Why does she print? Why not just have the files downloaded to her own laptop or tablet? Is she worried that an electronic transfer would bring something with it?
So Helen is the main person finding sites for the Magnus Institute? That’s a worryingly close connection.
Oxford! Magnus Institute owns Hilltop Road!!!!
Trevor Herbert is the Minister! The vampire killer!!!That was not one of the names I’d been expecting…
Alice is going to Hilltop Road with them? No - Alice - I don’t think that’s safe…

Note
if you watched Tmagp 7, did you see people talking about all the things Celia said from that episode. All the “references.” If so, what did you think about them.
I know Celia is from Archives. To what extent, what her character wants, what she’s up to, I have absolutely no clue.
I dunno what these “references” are. For the most part all I know is that she’s an AU version and knows Jon, Martin and Jonah. That why she was surprised at hearing Norris’s voice. The alchemy angle is really interesting given the last episode.
I don’t know the importance of Jon, Martin and Jonah. But they’re the ones that form the .jmj error that Alice keeps getting, and Sam got an email from a Jon that isn’t a part of the OIAR.

TMAGP 23 spoilers
Thoughts and theories on the latest episode (writing as I listen):
More with the response department paperwork, I've been wondering about the purpose of that. I mean Office of Incident Assessment and "Response" could be related to it? Maybe it isn't actually shut down, just ignored or perhaps intentionally abandoned. Or is Sam just grasping for straws and trying to find meaning in the meaningless instead of what is right in front of him
Yippee Chester case! More themes of identity, feel like that'll be very important in the future and also the present.
I love how they go about the cases in TMAGP, I've always been obsessed with ARGs and weird reddit posts and they really remind me of those
Oh the aquarium thing they're talking about is so real. I genuinely lose myself just staring at those sometimes
"The water was crystal blue and at the bottom there it was. Vibrant, electric almost, and… so very much alive." This bit almost reminds me of the descriptions of Michael Crew in MAG 46??
Chester saying "smiley face" I love that
How-To forum?? Reminds me of those shifting methods things that were going around a little while ago. So very specific. Theres been a lot (like with both Madam E and Ink5oul) about reliance on the internet for happiness/any emotion, possibly more of that?
"She has my eyes." This line is just terrifying for whatever reason
More loss of identity/generally the concept of identity/reaching for a perfect "self".. this is recurring now :(
Okay the post-case dialogue I have already seen everywhere but these could 100% be different Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood. Sam only said they were similar ages and unrelated to the Magnus Institute so it can't be them can it? Celia may have thought of them from memory instead of "old documents" and since Sam got an email from Jon at least I can rule out the fact that he's completely gone. (I am VERY in denial)
BASIRA AND HELEN MENTIONED?!?!? We are slowly collecting more tma characters and I am very happy
DYHARD INTERACTION YIPPEEEE

TMAGP EP 20 REACTION (SPOILERS)
Firstly before I even START, it's called social stigma. PLEASE tell me it's not another social influencer one I'm begging you I cannot take another laughing fit like ep 16.
Also wait the dedication is so me
WAIT ALICE CAME AS WELL??? ALSO HELLO SAMALICELIA PROTOCULE
Alice. Did you really talk him OUT of it??? Because lats I remember, Colin slammed the door in your face.
"It's more about who killed the Magnus Institute" DAMN
Okay I did kind of suspect that the OIAR had a hand in destroying the institute. But like also Alice knows a bit too much about Starkwell. Something you wanna tell us, honey?
SAM'S TALKING ABOUT THE PROTOCOL HOLY SHIT.
Alice babygirl. The things you are saying seem like you're actually inadvertedly conforming all of Sam's suspicions. Like are you saying there IS a government conspiracy???
Okay I love Alice but she's starting to take the s1 Jon route where she refuses to believe things are supernatural or suspicious to the the point where it actually makes LESS sense. Someone is gonna get hurt because of that. And if it's Sam, Alice is going to be in a WHOLE different world of guilt.
DID JON SEND SAM THE EMAIL ABOUT THE STARKWALL 1999 REPORTS???
Alice sweetie you have a point but being so...Dismissive of it when there's CLEARLY something was just not the way. Sam is obviously the kind of person who will keep digging unless you directly tell him the truth.
"We already know we work in a global atrocity factory. It's called the British Government" God Alice I love you
Alice's hatred for England fucking SENDS me I love this woman
I get where Alice is coming from like she's right unfortunately. But I think she's very much blocking out the supernatural part of it and seeing it more as a conspiracy theory than something. Yknow. Horror-y
CELIA IS DEFINITELY FROM THE TMA-VERSE HOLY SHIT BECAUSE IF SHE KNOWS WHAT THE INSTITUTE CAUSED IN TMA-VERSE, NO WONDER SHE THINKS IT WASNT THE WRONG IDEA TO DESTROY IT.
"Catastrophic, world-ending" HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT YEAH THATS BASICALLY CONFIRMATION. BECAUSE THE WORLD DID END. THE APOCALYPSE HAPPENED.
Oh Alice...this is going to drive such a wedge between Alice and Sam. I think the funniest thing is that Alice is absolutely not going to be able to stay away from the "hornet's nest", as she puts it.
At least Sam has Celia on his side, I guess?
OH MY GOD WE MET INK5OUL IM ABOUT TO FUCKING LOSE IT.
Ink5oul is giving Jude Perry why are they annoyingly hot
"Shame. You've got lovely skin" Ooooo Gwen is the hot tattoo artist hitting on youuuu
FUCK WHY ARE THEY SO HOT
Oh???? Hello wait what???? Does Ink5oul. Not know what they are???
OH NO DONT DO THIS TO ME I INK5OUL ABOUT TO GET BLORBOFIED. BECAUSE I WILL TAKE IT OF COURSE BUT THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING
Ink5oul is self-aware??? Oh God could they get sexier???
Something something addiction to being seeing or being known is so much the opposite of The Eye which is the fear of being seen or being known.
"Tattooed Prince Albert's cock or something" WHAT
Does this count as stealing designs??? Because the og artists is long dead but Ink5oul never says they referenced his work. It's important to me as an artist SO
OKAY SO Ink5oul's tattoos are like...Predictive? Like whatever they tattoo will most probably lead to the person's method of death?
The pipeline of small influencer to...whatever the fuck Ink5oul became
"The ink flows through me" BENDY IS THAT YOU AND YOUR INK MACHINE????
Hmmm so Ink5oul slowly became an external but rly without even their knowledge. Is this them becoming less human??
"Thats...very eloquent" GWEN GIRL WHAT DO YOU EVEN MEAN
Gwen you chose the WRONG PERSON to bite back against girl WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF
GWEN YOU IDIOT YOU'RE LITERALLY JUST AS BAD AS JON WHY DO YOU PISS OFF THINGS THAT CAN KILL YOU literally this reminds me of Jon yelling at Not-Sasha to shut up in ep 79 of TMA.
Hmmm wait okay so Sam actually heard the first Ink5oul case in episode 2, so I wonder if Gwen ever manages to open up to him again (Which I completely understand if she doesn't) he might believe her because he's heard what Ink5oul's tattoos can do. But like. Again very unlikely since Mr. Khalid over here really fucked up in ep 18.
It really interests me though that Ink5oul has no idea what happened to them. I looked up Sutherland Macdonald, nothing of note. But I think it's pretty obvious that by TMAGP, they found out the tattoo on the dead body was an Oscar Jarrett tattoo and was looking to get some... face-to-face inspiration.
I'm worried about Sam and Alice. I mean honestly, Alice does have full right to step away from all of this but her dismissiveness of Sam this whole time probably doesn't help her when it comes to him. She wants to protect him, but he wants the truth. It actually makes me slightly more sure that the Dyer in the ARG was probably her pre-transition because of the empathy levels. Not that she doesn't feel empathy, but I don't think she feels like there's anything she can say to change things, so she doesn't try. Which is exactly what she says in this ep.
Anyways ummmm SamCelia shippers I get you they're actually pretty cute and it does make me happy to see that someone is supporting Sam and genuinely hearing him out since absolutely no one else he's talked to about this will.

tmagp 14 relisten notes
(sorry this one is a bit late!!- spoilers under cut)
celia:
- says that sam can get intense, and seems to be down playing her feelings for sam (hesitation and lack of enthusiasm when telling alice the date went well)
- directly confronts alice about her relationship with sam, but with the intention of getting out of drama, not causing it. i think this goes to show she started this job with a mission, and isnt interested in anything that may derail it
- seems genuinely taken aback by alice flirting with her
alice:
- deflects when celia confronts her by flirting with her -> im a buzzkill, so i dont think this is a genuine act of affection on alice's part, though it does sound more nervous than usual. i think shes gotten worked up and its resulting in a change in her demeanor
- has a very awkward pause after celia says alice can "do better next time" (referencing her relationship with sam)
- says that when she first started the job, she also wondered about the cases legitimacy
sam:
- picked up on the letters of rejection from the institute, and was trying to talk himself out of drawing connections
- he grew frustrated with gwen, and got particularly agitated by her saying he wouldn't understand (rejection again) and that she doesnt have time for him
- this is the first time we've seen him drop the positive attitude he normally has with coworkers (other than alice), his walls are already coming down
gwen:
- very sullen, but still offers some minimal help to sam
- seems upset with lena (this checks out)
- shes exhibiting self isolation behaviors (not opening up about her problems or trying to get help from coworkers)
lena:
- looking for gwen, and not in a good mood (did gwen not follow up w the external she was supposed to email? was she actively on assignment?)
incident:
- jon chester narrating -> mentions an institute (hmmm i wonder what institute that may be) and is directed at sam. im not of the philosophical house that he's encouraging sam, i actually think hes using the incidents as a means of venting (bad computer pun) and warning sam, since the incidents are all about the doom of being involved with the institute
- incident occurs in 1995, 4 years before the institute burns down
- follow-up by the agency writing the report was post-poned due to the absence of the technician (assuming this is alyssa)
- the shop keeper was wary of a rat being in his shop and had various scratch and bite marks on his body-> interesting because he seems to have no issue with hygiene or contamination in the shop (and rats are commonly fed to pet snakes)
- the shop keeper had a "physical altercation" with the technician, and referred to "his burden" -> i can guarantee that this will be an important detail for future use, whether or not he becomes a reoccurring character, i expect that the "burden" will eventually be expanded on
- the description of the shop itself lists sickly traits: warm, likely has mosquitos, there is a sharp smell from the reptiles, there is old food left in the office space, strong smell from the bad food, ant infestation, squirrel droppings, and there was a hole in the wall
- the report ends in the midst of removing the squirrel, and resumes with the mention of waiting for police on scene
- the report becomes more of a personal log after this interruption, with alyssa speaking directly to her father. this is especially interesting since she says he will believe her, implying he has some paranormal experience
- the room shes locked in is a makeshift cctv room, which i find worth pointing out since it draws an obvious connection to the eye, though i dont think theres a real connection
- the shop keeper seems manic and aggressive, and wants to sell the snakes desperately
- the shop keeper began, well, Transformation (snake)-/-horde
- jane prenthiss
- the snakes seem to want to possess another person and wither their host, which is an interesting change to the themes of tma's corruption, which protected and embraced their host in most cases
- the shop keeper had pinned rejection letters from "an institute" (take a wild guess as to which one) to the wall -> this implies there have been others rejected from the institute even before sam, and that a rejection does not seem to be an indicator of inability to interact w the paranormal
glitches/lies:
- none
extra notes:
- colin hasnt been featured or mentioned by other characters in a while. i feel like this is particularly strange for alice, since we know they were the closest, but im assuming the characters are overlooking him because of their own distractions. but its still concerning
- i think this incident was chosen by chester specifically because of sam's rejection from the institute. ive interpreted it as a warning that continual obsession with the past (and the institute) will lead sam down a bad path. im also taking this as a potential foreshadowing to sam's arc, dealing with the shop keeper's burden/possession as a metaphor for what could happen to sam. the shop keeper eventually gets left by the snakes, allowing them to take up a new host, meaning these powers and horrors can be transmitted or given to others; so sam can just as easily turn into one of the monsters from an incident. he has to choose to stay away from this path
- im hesitant to draw connections between the fears of tma and whatever powers are at work in tmagp, since i believe theyre different (or, at least, theyre manifesting in new ways) but this was a garishly corruption-aligned incident. im unsure exactly what that implies, but im taking it as a hint that the tma fears are not entirely gone as we know them. (or this is a major red herring?)

So, this episode has: Jon Chester giving Celia an incident from the beginning of 2016 about creepy young adults stocking the Hilltop Center with various artifacts items not fit for sale while saying that it was, “All for a good cause,” until the Center was transformed from a previously empty dimension charity shop into one forever marked by violence, fear, and the esoteric. I bet that the private security company that dragged the incident giver out of the shop was Starkwall, too.
And then there’s Celia’s relieved?/nervous?/sad?/vindicated? chuckle at the end of the statement as she definitely recognizes Jon’s voice? Followed by Alice asking if she was alright/needed to step outside and Celia’s comment that she’s sure Chester’s VA wasn’t anyone important, said in a much darker tone than usual?
ALSO: SAM GETTING AN INTERNAL EMAIL FROM SOMEONE NAMED JON??? (If it’s our Jon and he isn’t an antagonist in Protocol, I think it’s hilarious that he went, “Okay, the extremely specific incidents about staying away from the Magnus Institute and not fucking around and finding out aren’t working, I’m just sending a goddamn email this time.”)
Colin specifically blocking his webcam was a neat detail, although I did find the [brutal sounds of extended phone murder] that immediately followed to be simultaneously very worrying and very funny. Colin isn’t allowed to start swinging at the computers so he’s taking out his rage on smaller devices.
I also thought it was interesting that Lena seemed so different while on the phone with whoever she was talking to. It feels like there might be a growing crisis that she’s trying to both help with and keep as quiet as possible. And now Gwen’s using the tried and true method of Bouchard Blackmail the new Externals Liaison (possibly the Response part of the OIAR)? I wonder if we’re going to start getting more follow-up soon, or an episode from Gwen’s phone while she’s in the field.

TMAGP 7 spoilers
I'm-
What-
HUH
Celia almost *directly* references the fears
Recognizes Jon's voice and asks Alice if she knows who voiced Chester
She references using tape recorders for statements
And just like with the tape recorders she assumes that the ones being read out loud are special and different from other cases (which we already have been working on figuring out)
Sam got an email FROM JON?!
Which didn't surprise Colin at all so I think he might be in contact with him and Martin already
The OIAR does follow up with cases! Or at the very least tracks down the people from the cases. Potentially to silence them and make sure they don't go around talking about their experiences? I'm getting the vibes that the OIAR and the Institute have opposite goals.
Lena tried to kill that man because it's her job and when confronted by Gwen recruited her to do the same (kinda maybe)
Y'all this episode left me utterly speechless SO many times. They hit us with reference after reference after REFERENCE to the TMA! Clearly the two shows are going to be much more connected than I assumed. Damn I'm PUMPED to find out more!

Live Blogging TMAGP: Ep 27, Driven
Tumblr media
Aww that’s a sweet thanks.
Oh this is a long thanks message
Thanks to @itsclydebitches for getting me to listen to the series.
Okay is about someone being driven to Murder?!?!?
Oh, Hi Lena, how are you?
Wait why is there a self.
Lena can you please be chill about the files.
Sam does has a point about keeping up with cases.
Gwen can you not be a Karen for a minute.
Bruh, Gwen you suck. Lena asked you to do it.
Wait are they TMA cases
A statement from 1845, oh neat
Welll, I mean Sam will.
Okay Augustus statement
Transmutation, the principles of alchemy insert FMA music
Wait did you did the unforgivable transmutation?!???
The institute.
JONAH?!?!??! Is that you Bitch?!?
Are we reading Jonah’s diary?!?
Oh the Oil Skin great coat that’s cool.
Wait is that Oliver Banks?!??
Getting fused with your work and your self.
That is fair, for a disguise. I am from NYC and honestly most people don’t bat an eye at weird things. So it makes sense a power would be able to blend in of shorts.
It eats the passengers doesn’t it.
The coachman has the right idea, getting the fuck of there.
I mean the Dark would disagree.
Oh this definitely is Jonah with the quote “I cannot help but feel that to understand this thing may be to finally unlock the world as yet unknown to us. And in pursuit of that, there is no cost too great.”
Oh you sent the youngest to die you did.
Hmmm, yeah foundational power does get people to do wild stuff
The MAGNUS INSTITUTE?!??!?
Okay Archibald, that’s the kids name.
His Skin his Eyes
So the more fear the longer the digestion is?
One of the many reasons I couldn’t do that is because of my Dysgraphia
Augustus was very human like for most of the statement
Yeah it should be illegal to be a Bitch at work
Wait Jon did you send an email?
“You ever get any weird emails?” “I’m openly trans on the internet.” Yeah I hate how true that is.
Wait is Elias the MP is that why Gwen is freaking out so much about the visit.
The funniest MP choice is Tim, season one Tim who is an immense flirt and the definition of malicious compliance.
Yeah as some one who works in IT I always use the department printer for my personal work.
How much property did they buy?
Are they this universe’s Catholic Church or Royal Family ?
The archivist special interests are special interesting.
Breaking and Entering let’s go
Wait they are talking about it.
Glad that Sam is decent at sex good for them.
Poor Lena and the eye and probably having to listen to this.
Are they having the do you like, like me talk?
Celia is not wrong.
That hasn’t stopped Celia in the past from dealing with Death.
HILL TOP ROAD
LETS GOO!!!!

The Magnus Protocol: Episode 20
Spoilers under the cut.
Celia being all 'Maybe killing The Magnus Institute was a good thing!' -- yeah, this has got to be the same Celia as from The Magnus Archives.
I love how nobody in this series (except Colin) thinks of their phones as recording devices. They're so real for that.
Anyway, I'm guessing Sam's email was from Jon.
Okay, with Ink5oul, I'd pegged them as an Avatar of the Flesh, but maybe I had that wrong. Maybe they're an Avatar of the Transformation instead. Or maybe both.
They talk about terror, and I don't think we should automatically assume that the Transformation is a fear god. Stuff to think on.
Anyway, they're a plagiarist on top of being an influencer. 😄 But at least they don't work for the U.K. government!
Also, damn, Gwen could be an Archivist the way Ink5oul immediately spilled their life story. Wait. Is it because Jon is in her phone?

fr3-d1, [error noises], and Alice Dyer
So this may have been done before idk, I don't keep up with the online fandom too much! But I went through episode by episode looking for Freddy interactions, and despite what everyone in-show says, there aren't a ton of crashes/errors so far? However, there is a bunch of weird, unexplained instances of Freddy, et al acting independently!
Alice calls this out specifically in episode 21; on five separate occasions (episodes 1, 9, 14, 19, and 21), Chester reads an incident about or mentioning the Magnus Institute to Sam. The only time a TMI statement is read in a different configuration than this Chester-Sam combo, is when Chester reads the doppelganger case to Celia.
On a slightly separate note, as far as I can tell, the error beeps have actually only ever happened in Alice's presence, despite her and Colin's insistence that it's super buggy and crashes often:
2 jmj errors, in episode 3 and episode 17
one example of Freddy reacting to something Alice says out of nowhere in episode 5
Freddy also crashes Alice's computer when Sam asks her about TMI in episode 19, forcing her to suddenly have time to chat
This…feels like a little more than a coincidence, to me?
At this point, I'm less wondering "why is Chester so interested in Sam" - that's either relatively straightforward (look into TMI, save Jon and Martin from a terrible fate), or some plot twist I can't imagine that's way different from that!
Now, after doing all this reading, I'm a little more interested in what Freddy, or Chester, or whatever overlap exists between them, has against Alice!!
Under the cut is a summary of all the autonomous actions as of episode 21, grouped by the apparent source and sorted by date:
Definitively Chester:
Episode 9, 8 March: Chester starts reading the cursed dice statement on his own, without Sam interacting with his computer
Episode 17, 4 Apr: Chester reads a universe-hopping statement to Celia
Episode 21, 12 Apr: Alice intercepts a Magnus Institute incident report on Sam's terminal, being read out by Chester. Freddy makes several disapproving beeps when she deletes it
Definitively Jon:
Episode 7, 12 Feb: Sam receives an email from a "John" with an internal email address, with Gerry's name and address
Freddy, otherwise unspecified:
Episode 3, 22 Jan: Alice receives a jmj error on her computer, which Colin troubleshoots. Freddy sasses back at them both via error beeps
Episode 5, 5 Feb: Alice: "what the hell is wrong with everyone today?" OIAR computer, not having been touched or interacted with: [error noise]
Episode 17, 4 Apr: Alice receives a jmj error on her computer, which Gwen troubleshoots. Freddy emits error beeps often, but not as snarkily as it did in episode 3 imo
Episode 19, 11 Apr: Sam asks Alice to talk with him about the Magnus Institute. Immediately, Alice's computer throws an error, like it wants her to stop working and talk with Sam
"Someone," "the system":
Episode 4, 29 Jan: "the system" sends Alice a notification that Sam searched for "Magnus" and "protocol"
Episode 4, 29 Jan: Gwen receives an email from an unknown source showing Lena trying to kill Klaus. She apparently receives this multiple times before she confronts Lena in episode 7 (approx. 2 weeks)
Episode 20, 12 Apr: Sam has received an email from a garbled email address he can't reply to, with a ton of attachments from 1999 regarding the Magnus institute, Starkwall, and William Price (the Response Dept head)
Colin's extracurricular activities, just for completion's sake:
Episode 1, 9 Jan: Colin sneaks back into the office after shift to find a computer running, which he verbally threatens before shutting off
Episode 7, 12 Feb: Colin attacks Sam for bringing a phone into his office; he is put on mental health leave
Episode 10, 9 Mar: Colin sneaks back into the office to dig into the computers some more. He is disappointed that Alice is out, because he wants her opinion on something

Until episode 7 I wasn't sure this celia was our celia from tma, but now I really think it's her
As soon as she got there she started talking about tma related stuff, asking if the cases are related to each other, how she could search for more specific things like being *buried* alive or meat (flesh)
But the most important factor for this hypothesis was her recognizing jon's voice
And we didn't even know if chester was really jon or just a way to keep the writers in the story, but she recognized him. And then jon finally makes a manifestation by sending sam an email with and address, proving that it is him, that he's still here (and martin too)
Now I'm really excited for the next episodes, THE LORE IS HAPPENING
