Okay, fuck it. Extremely niche Tellius AU that's relevant only to me probably because I haven't known there to be an intersection between Saiki K and Fire Emblem fans, let's goooo
Started this whole thing thinking about Kaido as a heron. He can be a black heron, as a treat, he would LOVE being the Jet Black Wings for real. Plus herons can channel magic through their singing, which I think he also would like. They're also, unfortunately, a bit physically frail, though that doesn't meant they won't try to throw a punch lmao. I think it works for him.
Teruhashi should be a heron too, obviously (I was actually thinking it would be cute if she was some sort of princess like the heron family in FE9/10 and Kaido was kind of like Nealuchi just generally looking after her). It gives her the ethereal and beautiful vibes she would need. Though I was also thinking maybe a heron-raven mix? Or maybe heron-heron but a white and black one. Prominently appearing to be a heron with white wings but maybe some black feathers here and there, just like her aura.
Saiki would obviously be a dragon. The only dragon there because it's what he deserves. A pink dragon since that's canonically a thing too, but we are ignoring the power hierarchy between the colors, shhh, he can be overpowered anyway. The whole thing with the dragons isolating themselves from pretty much everyone else fits him too.
I want Nendo to be a tiger laguz. Not for anything in particular, he just has the built for it, he's big and strong and he also reminds me a little about Mordecai, who's pretty much the gentle giant trope. It's what Nendo deserves, I think.
I was thinking a tiger branded for Kuboyasu. He would still be way more physically strong than an average person since most of the feline branded seem to have inherited that from their laguz side, plus I think it would be neat. Also branded do tend to have that wariness of both laguz and humans, leaning more against laguz, which honestly could work for Kuboyasu.
(Also I found it amusing to make the guys shipped with Saiko tiger related stuff. Sorry lmao)
Speaking of Saiko, I'm either thinking normal human but from a prominent family (tentatively thinking Daein though that would make him a king or a heir prince) or perhaps a hawk because nobody else in the list would be a hawk. He can still be a royal of Phoenicis as a hawk anyway.
Yumehara I was thinking a cat laguz. Spunkier than suspected given that they're smaller than every other laguz, and still quite intense. Also I think she would look really cute, she reminds me of Lyre in that sense. Going half on vibes here.
I wanted most of them to be laguz or such, rather than normal people, but I think it would be super funny if Hairo WAS a normal human, just super intense about his training and very intent on beating Nendo in strength anyway, despite Nendo just wanting to chill and make friends. So ridiculously energetic that people might suspect he's not fully human but nope, he's just like that (alternatively, another cat).
I'm gonna be honest, I have absolutely no idea for Mera, I was thinking normal human for her as well. Maybe another tiger? I kinda want to make someone a wolf but the vibes don't feel right neither for her not for Hairo. Maybe she can be a branded too, I don't know. Tentatively making her a lion because I think it would be equally funny and sad if she's straight up from royal lineage but something happened like in canon that made her lose status.
Rushing to make Aiura a heron branded just so she can have Micaiah's fortune telling sick powers. Maybe she can have the sacrifice healing as well, as a treat, because it feels like something she would love to use to rescue others even though it's reckless to use it since it's healing while depleting her own health.
For Toritsuka I was thinking normal human, but one who has made a pact with the spirits so he can be a Spirit Charmer. It doesn't work this way in Tellius but this is my AU and I'm making up my own rules, so I'm saying this not only allows him communication with the magic spirits but also with ghosts so he can have his gimmick. He's a mage now, yay.
Akechi I think would be so funny as a normal human who STILL can read everyone for filth. Not a particularly good combatant or anything, and he's another case of "he's so good at his thing you think he SURELY has to have something going on, but no, he's just like that". Especially funny if nobody else is a normal human.
Once again breaking lore rules but I was thinking Kusuke could be a branded that did not manifest any marks or special skills, so for any purposes he seems like a normal human vs Kusuo being fully a dragon, which could keep their dynamic of him feeling humiliated by his little brother despite his cleverness and brains.
Now, as per the breaking lore rules, that's because I was thinking Kurumi could be a dragon (red would be cool, I'm truly fully ignoring the color based strength here) and Kuniharu could be a normal human. Kurumi can STILL lose her powers due to the human-laguz union. For flavor. It doesn't work this way but Kusuo would be inheriten the full scope of her powers while Kusuke gets nothing.
As for why are even all these people in the same place to interact in the first place, I have no idea because I'm not really planning to make this into a classic Fire Emblem war story lmao. Maybe they all go to an academy together a la Three Houses? That could be fun.

OMG Hetalia!!! I used to be obsessed with the Show! I moved on but it still brings me joy when I see it from time to time (Also the fandom doesn't seem to die?? like even after almost 10+ years the fandom is somehow still alive?? 😭), even though hetalia had its Good and bad sides (the bad side the ship wars)
I also used to be obsessed with with England, the 2p's or the Nordics (AHEM Norway ♡)
Hima also added a few new characters! Indonesia, Singapore and Philippines!! AND FINALLY HE ADDED ENGLAND'S BROTHERS!!! I saw the tweet and like I said I'm not in the fandom anymore but the joy I felt when I saw Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland ♡♡ I was so Excited!!!
but what frustrated me was the lack of female characters! 😭😤 we have like idk 10-12 female characters and the rest bunch of guys! I was so sad to find out that Portugal could have been a girl!!! 😭
Which leaves me wondering do you have favourite Female characters in hetalia or maybe Nyotalia?? If you like England and 2p England what about Nyo England ? or 2p Nyo England??
Are there any other shows/Games you like besides Hetalia, Genshin impact or twst ??
if you like Otome games I would recommend you playing (if you don’t know them already!) Mystic messenger and Obey me! they're really Good 👍
🌸Anon
The fandom truly is unable to die. I think it's something where you can break away from and return to eventually much later in your life, whether for nostalgia's sake or to get back into the fandom again. Either way, the fandom really is always alive no matter how many years pass. ^^;;;; it's actually quite admirable lol!!
Omg I was so obsessed with England. Like how Azul is my twst muse, England was my Hetalia muse. I would pen so many thoughts regarding him in my Google docs (and they still remain there even today. ;;;). >_< and the 2ps aaaaaa!!! I loved them, especially 2p FACE family. They were all so unhinged hehe. <3 AND NORWAY AAAAAA YES YES!!!! You have wonderful taste, 🌸 anon!!! Norway was another one of my favorites. :D
AND THE NEW CHARACTERS!!!! It was so nice to see. England's brothers are just as fine as England himself... orz I remember back in 2021 (??? was it 2021??) there was word of a new season! I remember I became excited, yet I am here now and I haven't watched it yet LOL. Perhaps I should do so now that the Hetalia worms have crawled back into my brain.
Omg yes!!! The lack of female characters is disheartening. T_T I wish there were more!!! Aaaa it would have been so cool if Portugal was a girl!!! I would have liked to see it!! But as for favorite female characters, I absolutely adore Hungary and Ukraine!! They are both so lovely and sweethearts and they deserve much love!!! Nyo England and nyo 2p England are both very adorable, but I think my favorite nyotalia lady would have to be France! Elegant lady!!!!! So very charming! I love her outfit as well!! ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡)
There are other games and shows I like outside of twst, Genshin, and Hetalia! I really like Little Nightmares. It's my favorite horror-adventure game. I love the art style and the storyline. I also want to play Omori when I have enough free time! The premise looks so interesting and I've listened to some of the osts from the game (world's end valentine is such a banger!!!). I also like Danganronpa. As for anime I have really enjoyed, Saiki K, Great Pretender, Devilman Crybaby, Soul Eater, Summertime Rendering, and ODDTAXI are among my favorites!!!
And I have played Obey Me! and Mystic Messenger before! Both are very fun! My favorites from both games are Mammon, Satan, and Belphegor and 707 and Saeran hehe!!! I was never a Jumin fan, but that one bad end... 🫣 so maybe I can consider liking a certain filthy-rich businessman... and something about yandere!Yoosung hits different. >:) in conclusion, unhinged characters are so *chef's kiss* !!!!!

Hold on I'll ask a few but not a lot since I don't wanna be annoying lol.
Idk I have a fangan with these characters but the show is sadly underrated but have you watched 101 Dalmatian Street? Really good show, really good characters, really cute art. Really scary finale.
There was a question asked in the Penguinronpa QnA, two actually, and I wanted to ask these questions. Since 96 isn't complete you can just do like the characters slash chapters you've done up til then or just do 69 only.
For each character, what would they have contributed if they lasted longer in the story. Like the role. Antag, development, support, that one character who does nothing but survives anyway, etc
What's one thing for each chapter you'd go back and redo, if there was one thing for each chapter?
Sorry for question count I'm a very questiony guy. Also yes, this is York the guy who gave Bojack-o-lattern a ton of nicknames. Also I've watched some of Breaking Bad and watched Saiki K almost all of Season 1 (dubbed). Both are really fucking good. There's an Ao Oni movie apparently but the demon design is apparently bad, wait shit I'm rambling. Let me stop now.
1. I haven’t watched it myself, but as long as you enjoy the show yourself and the characters you’re writing, then that’s great! As long as you’re passionate, you could even convince others to check it out
As these other answers are kinda long, I’m gonna put them under the cut ↓ ↓ ↓
2. I’ll answer this for DR69 as it’s easier as that story is already finished.
Mr. Krabs - probably would’ve taken on an arc of greed or teamwork that would’ve reflected into Luigi in some way
Mario - would’ve taken on a very tight-knit support role for Luigi, perhaps helping him come out of his shell and befriend anyone Luigi would
Dedede - as a comical character in the story, it would’ve been funny if he did get access to a hammer or something and tried to break down a wall, only for it to actually lead them to somewhere useful (or makes a hole that a killer could utilise for a murder case)
Ashley - like a mentioned in a very previous post, she would’ve had an arc of coming out of her comfort zone and making more friends, gaining some confidence on the side to confide in others. She would probably become a close friend to Luigi, who takes on a similar type of parental role he does with Parappa (as one single man can never have too many kids)
2D - I’d like to think we’d get to see him perform at some point. Either as a performance with Miku and Teto, or maybe on his own without the cosmetics and show lights, singing to someone who needs the motivation
Peter - I won’t lie, I don’t particularly want Peter to be an endgame character, even in an alternative timeline. I think he’d continue to just be a comic relief character tho, just not so loudly during the darker parts as we get later into the story
Sans - If Sans was alive longer, sansmaeda would be able to be explored more than just during the trial and some parts before. Perhaps the relationship would cause some problems with trust, or it would change the dynamic of the group in someway (as the first sort of relationship they’ve been accustomed to). On his own, I think he’d begin to actually care about investigating himself and find some pretty useful things
Fluttershy - for Fluttershy, she’d be able to spread her kindness a lot further from when she died. Since she had her own doubts herself, however (seen in her diary), it would’ve been a good opportunity for her to receive help from others rather than just being so selfless. Also, she would’ve been able to share her drawings herself, allowing her to explain her creative process and see the others' reactions to her art
Brian - if Brian was persuaded to keep going, he’d have no regrets, more easily able to accept certain strange things and focus on what’s most important: saving everyone else. I think he’d often try to be self-sacrificial, but others would convince him they all need to stay alive together
3. I’ll continue to answer this with just DR69.
Chap 1 - add more events to the daily life. It felt kinda short, even if it was my first ever dangan chapter, and it would’ve been nice to see more events with the whole cast before one bit the dust. I’d like to see them all do something together -- maybe find a way to escape even if it backfires.
Chap 2 - this is more of a technical thing, but I accidentally forgot to have one of the three practicing the play (either The Conductor, Miku or Teto) mention they were rehearing in Classroom 1-A and not the performance hall during the night of the 2nd murder. This led to some theories believing the latter, which made me feel a bit guilty as it led some theories the wrong way.
Chap 3 - I mentioned before I wanted to also add more events to the daily life of ch3. However, I’d probably remove that um. Luigi having to be a real plumber for Peter scene because it was just gross and I only did it because I thought some people would find it funny I guess?? Like it’s not the worst thing ever but I don’t like stooping to toilet level humour often.
Chap 4 - for this chapter, I think I’d want to justify why Sans killed Peter himself. While taking on a selfless act as he didn’t want Nagito to die is alright, just Peter making fun of Papyrus doesn’t really reflect why Sans would get so mad. However, this was actually because in a very old plan I had, Peter had actually killed Papyrus himself (idk how or why but he did) and that confession would be what had led Sans into killing him. I mean I guess it could’ve been possible in a prequel type thing but it would make things more messy (also impossible considering Papyrus is alive for the albeit dead sequel)
Chap 5 - I think I would add more moments of Luigi seeing Parappa hanging out with Brian and trying to make him happy again. We only really see him trying to talk to Nagito, and not with the other two often. It would be nice to have Luigi at least know one thing they did together, making the moment it all falls apart in the trial much more harder to bear.
Chap 6 - I can’t think of much I would change here. However, I would’ve liked to add a part during the trial where Luigi reminisces on the others who have passed away, and I would add a CG of a collage of all the final moments of each character like how they did in SDR2 and NDRV3. I just think it’d look cool but painful as a reminder of all the deaths in one big image. I’d also add a CG right at the end of all 5 survivors standing together after escaping the school. I was planning to, but I got quite burned out after basically working on that final chapter so intently after such a long hiatus.
4. Hello again! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed those shows so far since I really like ‘em too. It’s nice when people check out the medias I write in my fangans!

Chapter Twenty-Six: Noisy New Year’s
Tumblr media
Summary: Being a psychic is not an ideal life, at least for Saiki Kusuo. Didn’t you read/watch The Disastrous Life of Saiki K to know that? Still, this isn’t about him, not really. Instead, let’s focus on his one and only friend, Akari Watanabe, who is also quite abnormal. You might not believe that Saiki would actually have a friend, but that’s what fanfictions are about, right?
Word Count: 3661

A/n: Ah, well, it's December now! WOO! It's christmas time babyyyy I so hope that it snows out where I am. I feel like it hasn't snowed all too much, and I love snow.
---
THIS WAS BY FAR THE LAST PLACE that Akari would want to be. Celebrating the season is fine, New Years is a pretty nice holiday. However, to come to the shrine and be surrounded by so many people was not something that she enjoyed at all. Completely relatable, I'm sure quite a few of us can agree on that. Though it’s not like she had much of a say in it. Every holiday, without fail, the Watanabe family and Saiki family spent time together. With that being said, the majority of both families wanted to go partake in the celebration.
It’s so crowded. Too noisy. Akari would love nothing more than to be embraced by shadows to relax in their cool loneliness. She could feel that Saiki felt quite the same as her, for the scowl on his face. Then again, he usually has a permanent scowl on his face. Even with the usual expression, Akari knew exactly what he was thinking. They were on the same wavelength most of the time after all.
Neither of them wanted to be at the shrine. Though due to social conventions and family priorities, they were forced to come. To partake in society, much to their dismay. Though we all love getting to read about all the wacky adventures that ensue, right? Because I sure do! Shame that we have to suffer through this terrible writing, but I’ll take what I can get.
Despite being at a shrine, Akari didn’t necessarily have a belief in any sort of deity. When one is born with some supernatural abilities they tend to really consider the existence of a higher power. Add in the fact that she then has a best friend who has abilities that could literally be considered that of a god and she really couldn’t pinpoint if there was a celestial power out there. She came to her own conclusions eventually, which were that if there was a god, they certainly had a horrible sense of humor.
She had been labeled a demon by her paternal grandparents at birth. Thanks to the abilities that she was born with, they came to their own conclusions about her. Akari didn’t think that her striking yellow, cat-like eyes really helped her case back then either. Though from what her father tells her just about all the time, she was quite the cute baby back then. She believed it since there were a plethora of photos of her growing up. Really, mountains upon mountains of scrapbooks from her life.
Then again, she never knew her paternal grandparents, and really didn’t care too after the stories her mother told her about them. She could understand being unnerved by her abilities at first glance. However, her parents didn’t leave her like they did, her brother wasn’t scared of his big sister having shadow-manipulation, so Akari didn’t think her grandparents had much of an excuse. Perhaps if they stuck around longer they would have realized just how harmless Akari was to everyone.
Though she wondered, if she was a demon, who would be an angel? Maybe Teruhashi, with her desirable amount of beauty, constantly being favored by the universe or god to get what she wants, and never having real misfortunes could be considered an angel. That seemed like it would make the most sense. Still, not that Akari thought that she really deserved the title. After learning about how selfish and rotten Tsukishima could be in her own thoughts, Akari had to think that she wasn’t 100% an angel as she tried to be.
“It’s so crowded.” Kuniharu complained. There really were a lot of people out today. Just looking at it seemed tiring.
“Of course it is.” Kurumi said, “It’s New Year’s Day.”
“Good grief,” Saiki mentally grunted, “I would rather spend my New Year’s quietly at home.”
Akari shuffled herself in her slightly larger black sweater, “You and me both.” Not only was it crowded, but things were quite loud with so many people talking around them. She hated that her family wanted to go out and participate in society like this. At least there was one upside to this which was that she could spend time with her mother, since Miku took this holiday off to spend with family. Getting to spend time with her mother was always a lovely time for Akari since she rarely gets to see her most days.
Kuniharu turned to his wife, praying, “I hope I can have another happy year with my beloved wife.”
“What?” She blinked in confusion, “Why are you making that wish to me?”
“What are you talking about? It’s because you’re my goddess.” Damn, you smooth man. Really hitting his wife with the rizz right there.
“This is not how I want to start my new year,” Kusuo groaned in annoyance.
Yamato was also quite affectionate with his wife, at least a perfect amount that he knew she loved. He had his arm wrapped around her waist while placing a kiss on the side of her head every so often. While out in public, he knew to tone down his affections for her since she didn’t completely like pda. Especially within a crowd as large as this. So he wouldn’t be as outwardly loud about his love, at least right now. Though it was taking everything within him to really hold back. Especially considering this was one of the only times of the year that she swept her work away to spend time with her family whole-heartedly.
The overly romantic man leaned into his wife’s ear, “I wish for many more magical years with you beside me, my love.”
Miku hummed, “your wish won’t come true if you tell me.”
“My first wish has already come true though!”
“Oh, and what’s that?”
Yamato became starry-eyed, “That you said yes to me all those years ago.”  Which Miku just huffed to, more than amused by her husband. Though she certainly shared his sentiment, even if she wasn’t going to show it at the moment.
So the families walked up to pray and make their wishes. Saiki and Akari went up together just after both their mothers did theirs. Saiki’s dad also came up with them, though it wasn’t like they were paying attention to him.
“A wish?” Saiki asked, “I can always grant my own wish, not that I have any. Besides, I don’t believe in any god.”
‘What’s the point when you could be considered one.’ Akari said, also praying, ‘I wish to take a nap after this.’ A very reasonable wish to have. One that I’m sure most of us have even now.
Saiki rang the bell and thought about his own wish. “Whatever. I suppose I should make a wish, too. I hope I can have a quiet New Year’s.” He really needs to learn not to say this stuff, Saiki is just jinxing himself.
Rikuto, walked up to his parents, “Mom, can we go to the store now?”
She nodded her head, “Finish praying and then we will.”
“Okay!” He fist bumped the air, triumphantly.
So Rikuto made quick work of finishing up with his prayer and making his wish(Which no doubt had to do with manga in some way), more than excited to get to the bookshop. After all, if he was going with his parents, he had the opportunity to talk his father into getting him whatever manga he wanted. Yamato would gladly buy Rikuto whatever he wanted since he adores his children. His family have him wrapped around their fingers and there’s little that Yamoto would say no to for them. Which is why Miku was there with them. Least Rikuto convinces his father into buying him one of everything.
“Are you going to stay with Kusuo for the day?” Miku asked her daughter.
Akari nodded her head, “Is it ok that I sleep over too?”
“Of course, just come home for breakfast, you know your father will have a fit if you aren’t there for his breakfast.”
With that, Yamoto hugged and kissed his daughter goodbye, the families all said their farewells, and Akari was left with the Saiki family. Though she probably should have taken the opportunity to go home with them, with what’s to come.
It seemed like Saiki thought that the Wanatabe’s had the right idea, “Okay, now we can go home…”
“What? Saiki!” Oof, you spoke too soon Saiki. Now it’s time for plot!
Saiki nearly rolled his eyes, “See? There is no god.”
It was Kaido who had shouted out to him. The blue-haired boy came waltzing over to his friends with a smile, “This must be fate.”
“This isn’t how I wanted to start my year. Your scarf is dragging.” It indeed is dragging, reminds me of the Doctor.
Akari gave her friend a small wave, “Hi Kaido.”
“Ah, Watanabe! Didn’t see you there.” No one ever does. “Are you here visiting a shrine for New Year’s? Me? I was just passing by. God doesn’t exist in this world anyway.” Technically, one could argue that Shūichi Asō is your god, or even that MJ is your god. Couldn’t everyone who writes a story and controls their characters be considered a god by said characters? Wait, does that mean that MJ is my god then?!? Oh, I’m not ready for this existential crisis right now! I need some coffee.
Looming over the teens now were Saiki’s parents. Their eyes sparkling in amazement at the new boy talking to their son. Akari also would say that she would be surprised considering she knows how Saiki could be about friendships and stuff. Though still, she knew he didn’t like that they would make a big deal about it, or that they even thought that Kaido was his friend.
“Hello! I’m Kusuo’s dad!”
“And I’m his mom! You’re so cute! Thank you so much for being friends with Ku!”
Really they were crowding the teens with how overbearing they were being right now. “What?” Kaido jumped at their sudden eagerness to thank him, “Oh! Nice to meet… I’m the Jet-Black… Kaido!”
Akari blinked owlishly, ‘did he really try to introduce himself as the Jet-Black Wings?’
“Oh, your name is Kaido?” Kurumi said happily.
The boy just continued to stutter at the attention, “I am also thankful to be his friend. Right. I am.”
Akari eyed the way that he was talking so strangely, “He really can’t talk to adults, can he?”
“Can’t you be more consistent?” Saiki said, “Make up your mind!”
Kuniharu smiled blissfully at his son, “So, you have friends other than Akari and Nendo, Kusuo.”
He scowled, “Nendo isn’t a friend.” Akari hummed, not completely believing that statement, mainly due to the fact that Kusuo had to accept Nendo as something at this point. ‘Friend’ was better than nothing.
His mother agreed, “I was so surprised.”
“Yes. Me, too. I never expected Kusuo to have three friends.” That was a bit of a backhanded compliment from Saiki’s dad. Saying he’s surprised his son can have friends while also having the ability to make friends. If it were me, I wouldn’t let that slide. …Actually I would, because I hate confrontation.
No, not that.” Kurumi blushed, happiness radiating off of her, “I actually just wished for Ku to have plenty of friends. And it’s already come true!”
Saiki scowled, “Then why can’t they grant me my wish, too?”
Though Akari stared at the dazzled expression of the older woman, ‘You’re mom is actually so wholesome.’ She found it quite adorable how Saiki’s mother always did wholesome things like this. Wishing her son had friends, doing her best for him, trying to understand him(to the best of her ability), honestly Akari thought she was one of the best. Of course, her own mother was on the top of that list for her, though Kurumi is a really close second.
“Oh, I actually wished for the same thing!” Kuniharu boasted to his wife,  “You and I think so alike!”
“I don’t believe that for one second,” Akari snickered under her breath. Though Kuniharu heard that and deflated just a little bit. How could she think so little of him? Sure, she was right, but still!
After that, it was like God had a personal vendetta against Saiki. Punishing him for seemingly no reason. Or maybe there was a reason, that reason being for our entertainment. Not only had Kaido shown up, but after him it was Hairo, then Nendo, and then Teruhashi of all people. It certainly didn’t help Saiki's mood that they were all here. Something that Akari could easily feel. The pleasantries that were exchanged between them all didn’t necessarily interest Akari, not in the slightest. Not like they even saw that she was there. She didn’t really care that they were there.
Hell, Hairo didn’t even know she was standing right next to Saiki until Nendo mentioned it and said hello to her. Teruhashi also didn’t notice her until then either, but she still ignored her existence even after Akari was pointed out. Not that Akari cares, she just wants to nap. She also knew that Saiki would want to escape all of this at the moment. He wanted to be alone, something she could relate to, and figured that this was going to ruin that. Then when Kuniharu came up with a great idea, Akari knew that she had to say something.
“I know! Why don’t you all come over? We have New Year’s food.”
Kurumi was just bursting with excitement at her husband’s idea, “Yes! Please come!”
“Oh! Let’s go!” Nendo shouted.
Ever the polite young woman, Teruhashi said, “If we won’t be too much trouble.”
Saiki froze, “How come you’re not granting my wish, God?”
Akari looked from the excited group talking about going to the Saiki house and her best friend. Obviously there was only one choice that she could make here. So she cut through their conversation with her haunting voice, which gave them all chills.
“Actually,” her whispery voice called out, surprisingly easy to hear over the excitement from the others. “Ku and I have plans after this.”
“Oh?” Kurumi blinked, a bit deflated at the fact that they might not be able to meet all of these lovely friends of her sons. “You do?”
Ever the idiot, Nendo blurted out, “Must be another date for you guys!”
“Date?!” All of them exclaimed in varying degrees of shock and surprise.
“Good job, pal.” Nendo gave him a thumbs up, seemingly congratulating on yet another date between them. He certainly supported anything his pal and gal pal did, especially dating each other.
Saiki scowled at Nendo for even suggesting that. That would definitely make everything more difficult. Especially with Teruhashi here actually able to hear that. Speaking of the perfect pretty girl, she tried to keep the facade of just simple surprise on her face, but there was an underlying annoyance in her expression. We don’t really need to have telepathy to know what she was thinking as her eye twitched while staring at Akari.
Akari just shook her head, “No. We were going to our favorite cafe for New Years.”
Saiki knew for a fact that they didn’t have any plans. At most, they probably were just going to go to one of their houses and just laze around. Maybe Saiki would play a video game while Akari napped on his bed, they weren’t really too pressed on what to do.
Akari took Saiki’s elbow, leaving no room of argument for anyone to make. As far as they needed to know, they did have plans. They ignored the talk of their friends and Saiki’s parents behind them, all of them disheartened about them leaving but wanting to try it another time. So they navigated through the crowd until they left the shrine, safe from being bothered by their annoying friends.
As he was being led away by Akari, Saiki looked down at the back of her head with an awed expression, “Are you god?” Akari glanced up at him in confusion for a moment before giggling.

Yes, Akari had told them that they were going to their favorite cafe, but perhaps that was just to throw off the others. Precautions had to be taken, just in case they were going to end up being stalked by Saiki’s parents or their friends. Even though they said that this was by no means a date or anything, what they said would just end up going in one ear and out the other with them. Though it’s not like there were many places that they could go without it being busy. Most areas had people out eating, hanging out, just spending the holiday outside. Not only that but the teens couldn’t go to either of their homes at this time. If they did go to their homes then their parents would know, and they had done this to avoid Saiki’s parents as well as their friends. Plus there’s no doubt that they would hassle them due to Nendo’s ‘date’ comment. So it was best to avoid that.
Instead, Akari had suggested just getting a blanket and sitting at a park. There was no doubt in her mind that he would agree to it. Any chance that he could take to get away from people to be alone, he would certainly take. Well, almost alone. Though he certainly doesn’t mind just being with her. (Not in that way, obviously. Don’t read too far into that statement.) Saiki teleported to Akari’s house, grabbed a blanket and teleported back to her. So they made sure to set up in an area that they deemed nice enough.
“The fact that we ran into all of them at the shrine was unfortunate.”
“It really does seem like God hates me.”
“You and me both,” Akari groaned, “I just wanted to nap. Though it is quite funny how God seems to have it out for you.” Saiki just scowled as she laughed at his misery.
While Akari didn’t notice it, Saiki certainly could see their friends stalking behind them. He could hear everyone’s thoughts, of course he could hear their curious thoughts as they watched Saiki and Akari walk along the paths. Though he certainly was not going to let them bother either him or Akari after they had first escaped. He didn’t care that the group wanted to know if they were dating. They really were just a bother. Even Teruhashi’s clear jealousy towards Akari was not going to ruin his peace. After all, Akari had already done enough to get them away from them. So with the use of his powers, he made sure to evade and confuse their group of stalkers. Akari was none the wiser. Perhaps because she was more focused on finding a good spot to nap. Which they did end up finding, now without their ragtag group of tagalongs behind them.
Akari floated across the grass of the nearby park that they escaped to. While there were a few people milling around, they didn’t seem like they were going to bother the teens. So they tried to keep themselves in the most secluded part of the park. There was a small area, one with quite a few trees and bushes that separated a small clearing from the rest of the park. Just perfect.
“This actually is not how I saw today going.” Saiki said as they laid on the blanket. Well, Akari was laying down, Saiki was just sitting next to her.
“Though better than how it could have been.” Akari tiredly commented. Saiki hummed in agreement. She let out a yawn and stretched, seemingly resembling a cat, “I’m just glad I can nap now.”
Saiki peered down at her from behind his glasses and gave her an amused look, “It always baffles me how you can fall asleep anywhere. You really are quite lazy.”
Aikari chuckled under her breath,  “Lazy is my middle name.” She shuffled around a bit, making sure that she was comfortable enough on the ground.
It didn’t take long after that for Akari to doze off with some soft snoring. Not that Saiki really minded. He expected that she would since he could see how tired she was since they were at the shrine. She cuddled up next to Saiki, but made sure to not cling to him at all. Since she knows that he doesn't like physical contact. She had gotten him out of one uncomfortable situation, she certainly didn’t want to put him into another.
So Saiki just sat in silence, thinking to himself and admiring the solidarity that he had been allotted. Thank god for his friend. She really does pull him out of situations that he didn’t like just at the right times. Sure, he could probably do it himself, though he didn’t think he could say no to his parents and their pressures. Especially his mother, he could usually say no to her, but she has her moments over him.
He glanced down at the shadow-manipulator as she snored lightly beside him. If there was one thing that he was actually happy about today, it was getting to grant Akari’s wish. While he thought that she was quite the god by saving him from having to suffer through the group of idiots coming to his house, he would try to be her god by granting her wish. He brushed lock of inky hair from Akari’s forehead. It almost looked like he was… admiring her… Though that would be silly, right?
Whatever you’re thinking about the two of them, dont! Saiki might be able to hear you and call you stupid for thinking it. Trust me, I’d know. Still, even with the soft sunlight coming down from between the leaves, the occasional chirping of birds, and murmur of people passing by, Saiki really did notice how adorable Akari looked while napping.

A/n: When it came to writing this chapter, I did initially plan on writing it all out. However, as I was finishing it up and getting the dialogue, I realized that it was quite tedious. Not only that but I figured I could write a new little story line for this. Basically changed the ending of this one and added my own little ending with it. I like it, I hope you did too :)

OPEN MiNDED | saiki k
Tumblr media
summary: following the events of ‘intrusive thoughts’ you agree to meet saiki on the school roof and find out that the two of you have a lot in common. (gender!neutral reader)
author’s note: might turn this into a series if you guys are interested?? 🚶🏾‍♀️ it’s giving me very much enemies to lovers and i kinda love it
warnings & genres: fluff & comedy !
( ‘your thoughts’ “talking with your thoughts” “you talking out loud”, “saiki talking out loud” ) !!
“so what do you want, saiki?”
there had to be reason for him wanting to meet you here on top of pk academy’s roof; in fact you knew the reason, you just wanted him to admit it.
your pink-haired peer didn’t say anything at first, the tall teen leaning against the rails with his arms crossed and lips pursed. saiki wasn’t thinking at that moment so you struggled to get a read on what he felt.
but even if he was closed off it almost made you chuckle; it was the most emotion you had seen him display in your time at the school.
“are you a physic?”
ah, yes. he was straight to the point and you didn’t expect nothing less from him. you shrugged your blazered shoulders - maybe you’d play with him a little.
“perhaps,” you said. you took a large step forward with your confident words. “wouldn’t that be amazing... what makes you think so?”
“don’t waste my time, l/n,” saiki answered. he wanted to move you back with his powers, just a slight gust of wind to blow you away a few inches... but you didn’t move.
the corners of his lips tilted downwards. he hated how nonchalant you were being in this situation; you had powers like him for christs sake! yet, he had never noticed them before.
“you can speak, you know?” you smirked smiled, “you know my secret and i’ve always known yours. there’s no need for the silence.”
kusuo rolled his eyes. “you’re extremely annoying.”
surprise overtook your features, your mouth falling agape in a pleasant shock. you didn’t expect him to actually speak. sure, you had heard his deep voice in your head but hearing it aloud didn’t sound too bad either.
“why, thank you.”
his words sounded in your mind, words that reacted to ones you thought you had control of. one could only stay so cool for so long, the realisation that saiki heard your compliment both embarrassed and irritated you and your peer noticed immediately.
a short agonising silence was followed by a simple statement.
“our next class is about to start,” he spoke up internally. maybe, you wouldn’t be able to get him to talk more after all. “we should head back down before our classmates decide to stick their noses in our business.”
saiki waited for your response. he didn’t need it but he decided to remain for a few seconds anyway as you nodded slowly.
“yeah...” he heard you say out loud. the pink-haired teen didn’t wait for anything else, he walked passed you and made his way off the roof.
but then he heard your next answer.
“meet me at café mami after school.”
“mmm, no thanks.”
“your mind is practically screaming for coffee jelly,” you teased, saiki feeling your confidence creeping back. “i’ll buy you one if you turn up.”
there was radio silence after that but you knew that he would show... and he knew you knew too.

Hi. Saiki K./Pokémon fanfic anon here. o(( > . < ))o
I want to apologize. I have absolutely zero idea what happened with what I was writing out or the typos AutoCorrect slipped by me in the end. It all looked fine to me, but maybe I hit some things when I was checking it over again. (T︿T)ᐦ
Basically, to clarify, secondary Psychic typed Pikachu, as of this time, shouldn’t exist (in the fic au, even with the word changes he made as a kid), and even if they had Saiki isn’t anywhere near Alola where the evolved form of a secondary Psychic typed Raichu exist. Nor is he in Lental. So. Beats all for how that happened except for Saiki’s incredible Potter Standards Reversal of Luck™︎!
The twin egg of shiny Eevee thing came across pretty clear, I think? As did the Magikarp gag? In a further apology, I’ll go into some more detail on that— Basically, every time Saiki tries to catch a Magikarp he can’t. Or, to perhaps be clearer, doesn’t.
He catches something else instead. A shiny Mew using Transform, a Zorua using Illusion, a Ditto using Transform, six more different Ditto using transform with three of them being shinies, etc. Point is, he wants a Magikarp because they’re so normal for a Trainer to have. He’ll even try for an unusually coloured shiny one, he wants one so! Alas…
This also happens when he tries to catch a simple Cottonee. I’ll leave out what he really ends up catching, though. (º̤ヮº̤ ❀)

♫ ~ (^ ɛ ^. )ゞ
It's all good darling, it happens to the best of us.
And yeah this really sounds like some chaotic fun

No Powers Saiki AU (3k)
Where he also has anxiety and selective mutism. (But also, nobody has powers. And that volcano issue never happens because I SAID SO.)
Uhm uhhhh, in no way am I a doctor, so this may not be very accurate. Sorry!!
TW: Panic attack, I don’t think this one needs a skip so I’ll just leave it as that (but if you need one, tell me :eyes:)
Also on my ao3!
Also well shit, I do like myself some good Kusuo and Akechi friendship :,)
Also also, ugggghhhhhh, the italics stuff don’t go through when I copy and paste from my docs rip. This is why I prefer ao3 more (and because their tagging system is HEAVENLY) so if you wanna read with all them proper italics I suggest switching to my ao3
ALSO ALSO ALSO, RIGHT WHEN I FINISHED THIS, I DISCOVERED ASL AND JSL ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SO D A R N H E C K I’M SORRY. I did a big oopsie,,,let’s,,,pretend that asl,,,is,,default,,?
Saiki Kusuo was not your typical boy.
Since he was young, it had been painfully obvious that he was a gifted child, surpassing his brother by intelligence and strength. This had drawn many curious scientists to him, and after several tests that went on for hours and hours, he finally broke. He stopped talking and he stopped wanting to be around people.
His mother, equally as tired of the scientists as her son was, decided to hide his identity away from the public, constantly moving from location to location to avoid the people who knew of her son’s abilities.
This barely helped with Kusuo’s social development as a child, so the more he moved, the more he decided that he would much rather live in an isolated world than a world filled with people with prying eyes and loud mouths.
He did make a friend once though, but it barely lasted due to unforeseen circumstances that involved a few beat up bullies, and it had surprisingly hurt when he had to move away again. Akechi was his first real friend, and realizing that he won’t be seeing him again felt weird.
As much as he loved being alone, a friend would’ve been nice.
So the night before they moved away, he had pushed open his parents’ door, gripping his pajama top tightly, and whispered really really softly to his mother, “Mama. Will I ever make a friend?”
It was the first time he had spoken in a very long time, in fact, his mother couldn’t remember the last time he had spoken to her without pointing and hand gestures. So predictably, she cried and hugged him tight, mumbling how sorry she was for ruining his chance at making a friend, too caught up with trying to avoid those nosey scientists.
Middle school went by like a blur, aside from the occasional school switch that still happened, yet not as often as elementary. He didn’t remember a single thing that happened during those school days, maybe a few anxiety attacks in the bathroom and a sad attempt at trying to socialize, but that was it. Maybe it really was easier to be alone, at least he wouldn’t have to worry about losing his breathing from the sheer amount of stress he got from the assembly hall.
Highschool came and Kusuo had a new plan: Accept that having friends are not necessary and speaking with your mouth is dumb.
He quickly learnt how to use ASL, much preferring that language over vocally speaking, and made sure his grades were as average as possible. He had excelled through middle school and elementary school like it was nothing, but it had led him to be placed on stage many times because of this. So no more of that, because that was a recipe for disaster to him.
Kusuo made sure everything was in perfect place before heading to school. He made sure the school knew about his condition, and he also made sure to let them know he didn’t want to be publicly known as the school’s “mute kid”, so he’d definitely blend in without an issue.
Kusuo couldn’t believe what was happening. He hadn’t even fully registered his first year of highschool properly and his second year was already here.
To start off, he had friends, something he did not expect to have. He could predict many things, the weather, what people were thinking, and if he tried hard enough, he could even predict who would walk by his classroom in the next second. But he did not see this one coming.
He didn’t even know how. Nendou was a dunce who went from copying his homework to hanging around and inviting him out for ramen and Kaidou was a chuunibyou who thought Kusuo’s hand gestures was some sort of secret language and ended up perceiving Kusuo as some ally to Jet Black Wings.
Yumehara, for no reason other than the fact that Kusuo looked cute, decided she was meant to be with him. A lot of effort was taken to avoid her, but just as she lost interest in him, the class- no, the world’s idol decided she’d have a crush on him too. Then there was the class representative, Hairo, who constantly screamed and moved and how does he not get tired?
Then there was Kuboyasu, Toritsuka, Aiura, and so many people it made his head spin.
But they all had one thing in common when they communicated with him, and that was the fact that they all thought he was deaf. Granted, people who use ASL were commonly deaf, so he wasn’t blaming them for assuming so, and it did help him a little since this made them talk less around him and gave him a good excuse for ignoring them half the time.
Two years he spent in this highschool, and not once had he fired rapid ASL before. He never got the chance to, and he didn’t have much care for doing so. Mostly because most of the people around him didn’t even understand sign language.
But sometimes, listening to Toritsuka talk on and on about some cute girl could really put you on edge. Especially when he kept egging Kusuo on about the type of girls he liked.
The thing was, Kusuo didn’t like romance. He liked observing it and the idea of it, but he would never want to be a part of it. Frankly enough, he didn’t find any joy in it, he much preferred a life of solitude.
“C’mon, I know you can understand me, Saiki,” Toritsuka poked, grinning widely. “What kind of girls are you into? Or perhaps are into boys? Seriously, tell me, maybe we can go on a double date sometime. What about Teruhashi--“
Kusuo scowled, taking a step back and suddenly flying into fast ASL that roughly translated to several insults and long explanations as to why Kusuo wasn’t going to tell him. Toritsuka only blinked in surprise, because he swore he just saw the middle finger between those fast hand gestures, and he took a step back, raising his hands in defeat.
“Relax! Alright!” Toritsuka said, dropping the subject for good. “Next time fling me a note or something, that is seriously intimidating!”
Kusuo winced, feeling the third piece of paper Kaidou had just flung at him hit his head. This had been going on for the whole period, and Kusuo wondered why the teacher hadn’t noticed it yet. Most of the notes Kaidou sent weren’t serious anyways, and clearly not worth writing back to him.
He barely understood the references the boy was making anyways.
“How about we hang out after school? Do you like cake?” The last note read.
Kusuo smiled softly. “Yes, I do like cake.” He wrote, and with ease, he strategically threw it back so it would land perfectly on Kaidou’s table.
Being around Teruhashi was not ideal at all, because wherever she went, many people would follow. Kusuo hated crowds more than anything, it made his throat close up and his face a little sweaty, though his facial expression would never express his discomfort.
It would always remain blank and devoid of emotions.
Which always peaked Teruhashi’s interest. She found it a challenge to make the “deaf” kid who barely spoke gasp at her beauty, it would be a mighty achievement, yet no matter how hard she tried, it just never worked, which only pushed her to try harder. It resulted in her falling in love with him, unfortunately.
“Saiki does have a cute face though,” Teruhashi mumbled under her breath right as she walked along with Kusuo. She assumed he couldn’t hear her, so she regularly said things like those quietly to herself whenever he wasn’t looking her way. He appreciated the compliment at times, but sometimes, they do get a little creepy.
Nendou probably didn’t understand the idea of deaf people, or perhaps he thought his idea was pretty smart. Either ways, Kusuo sometimes couldn’t understand why he had to shout at him to communicate.
Did Nendou think deaf people just had very very poor hearing? Probably. But it often got annoying when they were in public places, and Kusuo couldn’t even tell him to quiet down because he couldn’t tell when exactly he was actually shouting.
Both his shouting and talking volume were around the same range.
But, it was rather nice of him to go out of his way to learn a bit of sign language just so he wouldn’t have to shout at Kusuo anymore. It was actually pretty nice having an ASL buddy.
Note to self, do not use ASL around Kuboyasu too much. He will and can mistake them as gang signs and get either sappy or angry. Kusuo said in his head as he watched Kuboyasu stare off into the distance with his fists clenched, reminiscing about his gang days.
Several times Kusuo had mistaken Hairo’s sad attempt at ASL as actual words and once spent half an hour straight wondering why the boy had signed refrigerator geese to him during that dodgeball game.
Saiko had once walked up to him and declared that whatever “nonsense” Kusuo was going to sign, he’d know right away what they would mean. At first, Kusuo found it hard to believe that the rich boy had taken time to learn ASL within his one day of being in this school, but as it turned out, all Saiko did was hire a translator to follow him around to translate Kusuo’s words.
That was possibly the most amount of effort he’d ever seen from Saiko, and it was good enough.
Kusuo wondered if learning ASL had magically made him more attractive. Aiura would not leave him alone, with her blonde hair, tanned skin, overly accessorized things, and bubbly personality. She wasn’t like Teruhashi, who attracted more men than Kusuo could count on his fingers, so she wasn’t as annoying to be around with.
But then again, she was more forward than Teruhashi too, so it didn’t make her more appealing either.
Seeing Akechi again resurfaced too many feelings. He hadn’t really realized how much he missed his first friend, but then again, the same boy was probably very aware of Kusuo’s high intelligence and may accidentally reveal his secret with that blabbering mouth of his.
Though, Kusuo had to admit, Akechi hadn’t changed one bit since the last time he saw him. Besides the haircut of course, and some other details, like how good he was at deducting now.
Being around Akechi was always strangely comforting back then, there was just something about listening to him talk that made Kusuo feel comfortable. You could say his talking was like white noise to Kusuo.
“Why does everyone assume you’re deaf? You’re not deaf, you just don’t like talking a lot, right? Why don’t you tell them that? Is it because you find it easier to pretend to be deaf? I can understand that, you were always really quiet, which was nice because you were a great listener too. I never found out why you up and left our elementary school without saying goodbye, but you were crazy sma--” Okay, that was when Kusuo made him stop talking, and Akechi took this as a hint to keep it a secret. There was a pause before Kusuo finally signed something to him.
Sorry.
“Nothing to apologize! I don’t think it was your fault anyways, but your plan worked like a charm honestly,” Akechi smiled. “I hope you missed me, because I know I missed you. We have a lot of catching up to do, I’ll start! So basically…”
Kusuo did. He really did miss him.
A play. Their class was doing a play.
After all that effort of trying to stay off the stage, he still couldn’t avoid it.
He’d feel bad if he didn’t show up to contribute, so he definitely couldn’t just ditch them. The most he could do was play a background role, but even then he’d still be painfully aware that he would be in front of the whole school, and he just couldn’t handle that.
But seeing everyone giving their all to make this play work, Kusuo couldn’t help but join along, regardless of his own condition.
Practice for the play went smoothly, and he found himself being able to cope with it. All he did was sway around like seaweed, since that was his role, and then walk off when his scene ends. Easy, nothing too complicated, he would be fine.
Until Saiko got his sensitive feelings hurt and decided to pull their budget on literally everything, including the costumes. Now, Kusuo couldn’t care less about that issue if it weren’t for the fact that; if the other cast didn’t have their costumes, they wouldn’t stand out as much, and there’d be a higher chance of the audience staring at him.
Yet there wasn’t much time to do last minute preparations for props and clothing, so everyone was encouraged to try their best in making their own costumes before the deadline. Kusuo predicted that no one would actually follow through, and for once, he wished he was wrong.
Apparently he didn’t wish hard enough, because that was exactly what had happened during the play. Everyone mostly came in their gym clothes, some with small props to make it look like they’ve tried, and some who just didn’t do anything at all.
When Kusuo’s scene finally came up, he and the rest of the people who played as seaweed scrambled onto stage, making waving motions with their arms to simulate seaweed underwater. Things went well for the most part, Kusuo did as practiced and waved around just like his other seaweed playing classmates, but the longer he stayed, the more aware he became.
Eyes, everywhere, in front of him, staring too hard, too long. Their mouths are moving, but he can’t hear what they’re saying, it was like they were on the other end of a glass wall. Were they talking about him among themselves?
Had it always been this warm on stage? Was it normal for his hands to shake? Was he breathing? He didn’t remember exhaling, nor inhaling. His throat went dry, his whole body rigid from...fear?
Someone was pushing him, someone else was pulling him, but he can’t properly grasp what was happening.
The world went a bit blurry before he completely went dark.
Kusuo woke up in the nurse’s office, body aching and throat dry. He wondered how long it took for him to wake up, but depending on the sun outside, it may have been an hour or so. He sat up slowly, groaning slightly from the pain, before suddenly being attacked by a hug from a familiar person.
“Pal! You’re okay,” Nendou cheered, finally pulling away from the hug to double check on his friend. He lifted his hands, proceeding to sign to him, You just suddenly fell over after they pulled you off stage.
My bad, Kusuo signed back tiredly. Sorry.
“What’d he say?” Kaidou nudged Nendou. Did he really have to ask? It was quite obvious.
“He says he’s fine.” Nendou answered, completely leaving out Kusuo’s apology, which he found strangely comforting yet offensive.
“He literally had a panic attack on stage, what do you mean he’s fine?” Kaidou argued, then he looked over at Kusuo with a deeper frown. “Why didn’t you tell us you were having an attack?”
“He wasn't being attacked,” Nendou said blankly.
“A panic attack, it’s different,” Kaidou huffed. “Saiki, not to be intrusive, but do you have anxiety?”
Did...he? He honestly never thought about it properly. Sure, he did have anxiety attacks every now and then when he was a kid, but this was the first one he had after a long time, so he never really considered he might’ve had anxiety.
Actually, it was starting to all make sense to him now that he thought about it.
“I’m going to take that as a yes but you didn’t know,” Kaidou said slowly, concern laced in his tone. It made sense that Kaidou would know, it did seem like he used to have the same issue.
“Oh for sure, can’t you tell from the way his eyes had widened just now by half a centimetre?” Akechi piped up from behind.
Good freaking grief.
He knew his mother didn’t trust doctors, but Kusuo really needed to see one after literally fainting in school. Not only that, it wasn’t his first time having an attack either, this was just the first time it had gotten this bad.
Sitting in a psychiatrist's waiting room felt odd, because it seemed a lot more homey than a regular doctor’s waiting room, with paintings hung on the walls and carpeted floor. He wasn’t particularly nervous, but he knew his mother was, because the hand she was using to hold onto him was shaking.
It’ll be okay, he reassured, squeezing his mother’s hand tight.
And it was okay. The lady was really nice to him, gentle and understanding, she barely pried and most of the questions she asked were pretty normal. She was a little surprised to learn that Kusuo could speak, but not in a way that was obvious, only Kusuo could tell that she was.
Communication with her was sorta slow. He had to type onto his notes app on his phone for her to read to answer her questions instead of hand signing, which he didn’t really mind all that much.
His mother, who had been waiting outside for them to be done, immediately got up when Kusuo was finished and asked several questions, one being: Did he need to take medication now?
Fortunately enough, it seemed like his case wasn’t too severe yet, mostly because he could still handle being around people without an issue, so he didn’t need to take any meds for now. Although his selective mutism was pretty serious, it wasn’t too bad either in his case, due to the fact that Kusuo spoke through sign language rather than verbally, so he wasn’t completely mute per se.
He came back next week, and the next, and many more weeks after that. He really liked this therapy thing.
“So your friends think you’re deaf, so you’re using that as an excuse to ignore them sometimes?”
Oh, when she put it like that, it just made him sound like an asshole. But yeah, he pretty much was doing that.
“Is there a particular reason why?”
Kusuo drummed his fingers on his lap. There were many reasons why, but those reasons had long lost their meaning. At first, it was because he didn’t want any friends, but now that he did have friends, there wasn’t any reason for him to keep following them through. No matter how many times he told himself he didn’t like them, they were still his friends.
“And why do you not want any friends?”
“Making friends was hard, keeping friends was hard, and losing them was even harder.” Kusuo typed out. “I guess I stopped trying. But then they started coming to me, and it was weird because I had already accepted it.”
“So you got scared?”
She could say that.
She uncrossed her legs, only to cross them back moments later, and adjusted her glasses, leaning forward, “It’s okay to feel scared about losing your friends, but if you’re going to push everyone who wants to be with you away, then how are you going to know if they’ll truly leave you? There’s nothing wrong with wanting space, but people do need other people to survive.”
One of the many things he did like about his friends was the fact that they all knew he enjoyed sweets. It was pretty obvious that he did, with the way his face would smile softly and soften at the taste of coffee jelly.
Surprisingly, they never notice that he’d much rather be left alone. Either that, or they don’t care.
It was a small outing event, they were mainly just eating and talking, but also trying their best to include Kusuo as much as possible, even though he didn’t mind being left alone with his coffee jelly and cakes.
“Man, I feel bad not including Saiki in conversations sometimes,” Kaidou mumbled, assuming Kusuo didn’t know what he had just said because he wasn’t reading Kaidou’s lips. “Since it’s hard to talk to him sometimes.”
“I’m sure we’re trying our best,” Teruhashi beamed, making Kaidou flush red.
“We should probably just learn sign language like Nendou did.” Kaidou hummed, rolling a fork between his thumb and finger. “It’d be a lot easier.” Though possibly soul crushing for him, considering Kaidou had cram school and such already on his schedule.
“Sounds fun,” Kuboyasu commented. “I’d be down. Maybe we can surprise him.” Oh that was just too much, too nice, Kusuo didn’t even know what he did to earn this much love.
Nendou snorted, grinning widely as he pumped his fist on his chest, “I can teach you all!”
“That would save a lot of money.”
Kusuo stopped eating, a rare sight to see despite him being undisturbed, and he placed his spoon down. Everyone stopped talking, looking over at him in confusion before he finally opened his mouth, surprising them even more.
“I can hear you,” Kusuo managed out. “I always could.”
Teruhashi was the first to react, eyes widening and her face turning bright red. All those comments she muttered, he had heard them all.
Nendou blinked, smiling widely with his arms spread wide, “Congratulations on learning how to hear, pal!” Not quite there, but appreciated.
“Uh, uhm, OF COURSE! I knew the whole time,” Kaidou flashed a charming grin, which would’ve worked if it weren’t for the awkward pose he was doing.
Kuboyasu only stared, and drank his tea, “Oh. Well.”
“Sorry.” Then Kusuo paused, and raised his hands to sign. Felt more comfortable being like this, but you all are too nice to me. So the least I could do was tell you the truth. I don’t talk because I have selective mutism.
Nendou translated for them, and they all softened hearing this. Kusuo pressed his back against the booth seat and fiddled with his spoon before taking another bite. That felt easy, and weight lifting. Now that they know, he didn’t have to feel so bad about them going out of their way to do things for him just because they thought he was deaf.
“Of course I knew from the beginning,” Akechi boasted slightly, eyeing Aiura and Toritsuka with a smug grin. Aiura rolled her eyes at him, but pointed at Kusuo with a narrowed look.
“So you, like, could hear us the whole time,” she confirmed with him again. “I always thought you were just stupid smart, or something, at figuring things out despite not being able to hear, y’know?” Well, she wasn’t wrong about the smart part.
“That is so annoying!” Toritsuka blurted. “You’re annoying! Jeez! Would’ve been so much easier! Did you not tell us because you want an excuse to ignore us?” Kusuo recounted the number of times he avoided Toritsuka running towards him from behind, pretending he couldn’t hear him.
He proceeded to shake his head, very very slowly.
“He’s lying, by the way,” Akechi whispered. Kusuo clicked his tongue at that, earning himself a cheeky grin from Akechi.
Well that was that, now they all knew Kusuo wasn’t some deaf kid, even though that info might’ve spread throughout the school, which he really couldn’t care less about.
It was really nice, though, having friends he could trust.

My OC fanfiction
yeah so there’s been a lot of saiki fics floating around, so I thought I’d include mine! It’s not that good and kind’ve short, but yeah. (imma also tag  @queenclarityblu @hoarding-citrine @bigwiglesbrain
Of course there’d be a new transfer student. His universe didn’t seem to understand how normal schools worked. Normal schools that had less than 5 transfer students a year. No matter how much he complained, though, it wouldn’t change.
He tapped his foot against the floor of the classroom, bored. Saiki usually got to school at a normal time, 10 minutes before homeroom, but that seemed too long for him to wait right now. If he was lucky, the transfer student would be completely normal and blend right into the background. If he was unlucky, it’d be another main character to torment him until they became part of the main friend group, or perhaps the PK Psychickers.
It wasn’t called the disastrous life of saiki k for no reason.
“Hey, Saiki! I heard a new transfer student will be coming today.” Oh, Kaidou was here. “ I wonder what they’ll be like? Maybe they can join us in our quest as a comrade in arms, fighting against the dark reunion.”
Just say you want to be friends, idiot.
“I heard they were a foreign girl who transferred under mysterious circumstances.” He narrowed his eyes. “Very suspicious, we should uncover this mystery together!”
Go away.
Before Kaidou could make up any more blithering nonsense, the home room teacher walked in, and indicated that everyone should sit down.
“Okay class, today we’re going to introduce a new student, Bailey Lee.”
Bailey Lee. That wasn’t even close to a Japanese name, or anywhere near Asia. So Kaidou’s rumor was right.
“Hello, y’all!” Bailey Lee walked in too enthusiastically for a normal high school student. “ I’m from Canada, but you may wonder why I transferred so late in the year.” She smirked, as if pausing for effect.
Everyone’s used to people transferring during the year, actually, so you don’t have to list your… he read her mind, reason. Oh no.
“As an avid reporter, I’m here to search for the Truth, and only the Truth! After searching through the internet for paranormal sightings, I realized this school, and the area around it, is fraught with supernatural activity! And there must be someone responsible for this…” She pointed towards the classroom, eyes analyzing every student she could. “ And that person is in this room right now.”
Oh, so that was not good.

What other anime do you recommend?
hey so this took me a while to get to because i’m whack and lazy. sorry.
so I suggest a lot of anime but depending on your kinda genre then my taste might differ (slightly?) from yours?
I have many favorites and I wanna suggest a million but I’ll just do my personal favorites.
Disastrous Life of Saiki K -So this series made me laugh until I was crying. It’s really entertaining. Basically if you’ve seen One Punch Man it kind of has that same feeling to it. Saiki K was born with every single power in the universe that you could possibly imagine. However in this anime it’s all about him trying to be as normal and noticed as little as possible. I’d say you can binge watch this series in one sitting (not that I did that or anything…) and it wouldn’t ever get old. The humor is 10/10, it’s not overly done and by the end of the episode you’re kinda like “that’s it?!” because it feels like it could go on and on. The characters were introduced in such amazing ways, like Saiki has mainly internal dialogue so you learn about other characters through his personal outlook of them however when they are introduced it’s like they have been there the whole time honestly. It’s also episodic, only maybe three episodes continue from one another but other than that the series itself is each episode something different happens but Saiki stays the same from previous episodes. There’s one character in this anime that at first I thought I was going to loathe but by the end I had a sort of Kurabawa feel from him (Kurabawa is from Yu Yu Hakusho and no fan ever can say they liked him upon first introduction) meaning by the end of the series he grew on me. If that’s your feel this anime is just right for you.
Steins;Gate -So maybe you’re into time travel or space dimension kind of things. This anime would be perfect for you. I have to say that while watching this anime it felt surreal. I didn’t think I would enjoy it because when I first watched the anime it was background noise. But then I started paying attention and it hooked me. It started with the introduction of its cast. There are very few animes that can introduce characters in subtle or subliminal ways and can also pull off incorporating them into the show without all of the attention being focused on them and learning about them. SG is an anime that when characters come in it’s almost like they’ve been there since the beginning. It’s a very natural and easy flow of them all. Another brilliant thing SG manages to do that other animes also don’t do well is portraying the personalities of its characters while not flat out telling you what they are like. Example being the dialogue exchanged between characters. Within the first scene and episode of the anime you hear the main character speaking to a girl at a vending machine and very short dialogue between them is exchanged but within those few short minutes you learn that her character is childish and his character is protective and also childish. It’s subtle scenes like those that make this anime brilliant and also..heart wrenching. Another key thing I loved about this series too is the lighting. During certain scenes pay attention to what is lit and what isn’t. This is one of the few animes I’ve watched or even seen that takes full advantage of laying out scenes with its camera angles and lighting. It’s mesmerizing. However I do admit this anime isn’t for everyone. It’s been told to be boring to some people, but I still recommend at least the first six episodes.
Clannad / After Story -Another heart wrenching anime would be Clannad and Clannad After Story. So I do realize it’s very likely that you’ve seen this anime already but let’s assume in a fair chance that you haven’t. Clannad is one of those stories that sticks with you, even when you don’t want it to. I watched this anime early of 2015 and I didn’t watch After Story until 2017. Its basically a romance series and while that’s not my style and perhaps yours neither, I recommend this anime for its sheer brilliance. I accidentally spoiled it for myself because I wasn’t aware of After Story after I finished Clannad. I like to research characters of anime I enjoy and I did that with this series and Clannad has a very different ending than After Story. That being said though, when people ask if they should watch Clannad at all over just jumping into After Story I always tell them to treat it like a season 1 and 2. You wouldn’t watch season 2 before season 1, would you? Exactly. However the biggest difference from the two is the plot and characters. In Clannad you meet the characters and you’re aware of the struggles and internal things going on, where as in After Story the show assumes you know them. Also in Clannad there are some of my absolute favorite by far of any anime ever favorite moments and After Story only makes them better. I recommend you watch both (Clannad FIRST) because you wouldn’t regret it. And this anime moves at a mediocre, aggravating pace in the beginning but trust me, once you stick through it you’ll be like “I wish I could’ve enjoyed those moments longer” towards the end.
Danganronpa 1, 2 and 3 -So this series very quickly became one of my top animes to watch, ever. To put it simple it’s basically a high school where kids are penned against killing one another to graduate. It has a very sadistic feel to it and the anime, art style and portrayal makes this one a kind. No other anime (except assassination classroom) could pull off any of the script or characters. I loved every moment of this anime. Also it’s not cliche. Well, maybe the one main character, as you’d assume but in general it keeps your guessing and it actually surprises you. Don’t do like me and watch the series out of order, thank goodness I realized something wasn’t making sense when I went to watch season 2 and it was actually season 3. Needless to say I didn’t spoil MUCH for myself but the ending was kind of a “fuck me” because season 3 picked up from it. Which season 2 didn’t pick up from season 1, in fact it goes back in time to HOW everything happened and like a dumb ass I nearly ruined it for myself. This anime is fast paced and action around every turn. Not too long, no filler and it’s really interesting. Has my favorite antagonist ever in this series too.
Terror In Resonace -So if you have ever seen No.6 I would likely suggest this anime to be something you’d enjoy (if you enjoyed no.6, or if you are even familiar with no.6 in general) first off it starts off with its obvious “this is what’s happening” episode and it’s gripping. I finished this series in two days because I was thoroughly intrigued. Something interesting to note of from this series is that it heavily appeals to Icelandic culture and Greek Mythology which I found to be intriguing twists considering the anime world doesn’t venture into those kinds of things often. One of my favorite things about this anime is the art style and scenery. Very realistic and breathtaking. I’m surprised this anime hasn’t won some kind of academy award, it should be up there with Your Name for animation style alone honestly. I haven’t told you what it’s about have I? It’s about two boys who go by Nine and Twelve. What’s interesting about them is how realistic they come off towards the end. The beginning they are a bit “this is definitely an anime” feeling but towards the end you could argue that they are most definitely human..real humans. I think you’d enjoy it perhaps.
Maybe you could check those out, and get back to me on what you think?

Chapter Eighteen: A Boisterous Chef? Yamato Watanabe!

THE DELICIOUS AROMAS THAT WAFTED THROUGH THE Watanabe household is by no means a surprising thing. If anything, it would be worrisome if there wasn’t a mouth-watering smell emanating from the kitchen. The father of the family, Yamato, is a chef after all, he cooks plenty of food for his family and friends. He certainly is generous with his food as well. He’d give a stranger three full-blown meals if they even hinted at the fact of being slightly famished.
Humming a jazzy little toon, Yamato jumped around his vast kitchen cooking up a nice dinner for his children. As usual, his wife was still out at work despite it getting pretty dark out. It’s disheartening not to have her around that much, though he understands that she’s a working woman. She always took pride in her work and worked herself to the bone, so Yamato wouldn’t complain about not having her around. Miku is doing what she loves to do, and what kind of husband would he be to complain about her work. Though from time to time, he’s ready to pull her away from work every once in a while to give her a rest when she definitely needs it. Oh how he loves his hardworking, strong, independent wife!
Currently, his son was laying on the living room couch while reading one of his many mangas. Rikuto is quite the nerdy kid, something that Yamato can relate to to an extent. After all,he was a complete food nerd while he was at school. While they were downstairs, Yamato knew that his daughter was upstairs in her room. He knows that she likes to spend most of her time there. Yamato isn’t certain if that’s just a characteristic of her powers, where she would rather stay in a dark space alone, or it was just a teenager thing. Maybe a combination of both. It’s quite obvious just how much Yamato loves both of his children. His shining, oldest daughter and his nerdy, young son are his world!
So while they relaxed and let the night consume their neighborhood, Yamato was cooking up a storm for them. This was how it was every meal time, he is a retired professional chef after all! Yamato had a very successful career as a chef. He worked for Michelin star restaurants ever since he was in his late twenties. As a young man, he was quite talented and gained the attention of many people in the culinary world. Sure, he didn’t have his own restaurant during his career, but that wasn’t necessarily what he wanted. He worked for his fantastic bosses and their restaurants and left his talented mark on them.
While his wife was more corporate oriented, he was more creative when it came to his career. Not to say that Miku couldn’t be creative, but she was definitely the type to look at numbers and statistics rather than to decide the minute details of how something would look or something like that. Miku would rather have facts and logic than be whimsical and the like. Though perhaps that is what made them a perfect pair. The couple were somewhat polar opposites and balanced each other out pretty well.
As Yamato continued to chop up some vegetables and watched the fish sizzling in the frying pan, he thought about how amazing his wife really is. He can remember clearly the day that they met in high school oh so long ago. Yamato was drawn to how independent she was, how strong she was, and how mature she was even as a teen. There was no doubt in his mind after his first glimpse of her that he was in love with her. Sure, it took quite a while for her to accept his love, but Yamato is certainly persistent!
They both had successful careers once they left school, each the top of their fields and eventually they were married. The prestigious and workaholic entrepreneur and the talented and childish chef had tied the knot once they had established themselves and became stable in their lives. After all, with Miku’s career, she was always busy keeping an eye on her business and keeping things in line with all of that. Yamato was also pretty busy but he could say that Miku’s job was a tad bit more demanding since he wasn’t running a business from the ground up.
Things did end up changing though when Miku became pregnant with Akari. Of course, Yamato was there to support her in whatever way he could while continuing to work. Eventually though after setting his eyes on his precious daughter, he took the decision to retire from his career to become a stay-at-home father. That had to be one of the greatest decisions he had made, right behind marrying his true love. So he spent the next few years being the best father that he could be to his children. He doted over his children excessively. They are the lights in his life! He prioritizes his family over everything else, honestly.
After pulling the last of the hot food from the pans and putting away his cooking utensils, Yamato sighed now that he had the plates of delectable looking food set out for his family. “Aikari! Rikuto! Time to eat!” He called out to his children as he sat down at the table himself. Rikuto game bounding over to the table, more than ready to devour his father’s cooking. They didn’t even hear Akari as she came floating down the stairs, she just appeared in the hall gliding her way to the dining table. They all settled themselves and started to dig into the delicious array of food. Sure, there was quite a lot of food, but there wouldn’t be any leftovers with how Rikuto was shoveling the food into his mouth. The young boy truly was a bottomless pit. Me and him both honestly, I could eat a whole chicken and still be hungry…
Yamato shook his head worriedly at his son, “Rikuto, you’re going to choke, slow down, please.”
“Owkay,” the boy said around his mouthful of food.
Akari grimaces in disgust, though she should be used to this by now. He’s just a gremlin when it comes to how he consumes food. So she watched him in fascination while she ate her own food daintily and slowly. She can be civilized while eating her food, not like a caveman.
Yamato smiled brightly at his kids, his baby blue eyes were large as he chomped on his dinner. He asked them, “How were your days at school?”
“Nothing special.” Akari said lightly while she shrugged her shoulders. Really nothing had happened at school that was totally noteworthy. It was the usual, normal day with everyone being idiots and her and Kusuo being annoyed by it.
Rikuto swallowed his food, “Same here, other than having a big test, I think I failed it.”
Yamato tsked at his son, “Don’t be so down about it, son! As long as you try your best, we’ll be more than proud of you.” He knows that his kids are smart, some of the smartest kids out there! Maybe he just thought that because he was their father, or they really are smart, it’s a bit unclear. Either way, Yamato knows that his children are quite intelligent. Whether that’s intelligence revolving around school or something else, they are some bright kids.
Akari idly took a small bite of her dinner and said, “If you studied instead of focusing on your manga, then maybe you wouldn’t be so unsure.”
Rikuto bristled, “Wha! Hey! I studied enough for it! I don’t only focus on manga, you know?!” He huffed harshly at being called out by his sister. Though was she right? Most likely. After all this kid would spend all hours after he finished his school work reading and rereading the mangas that he has piled up in his room.
“Oh,” Akari blinked, “I thought that was your one personality trait.”
“Shut up!” He exclaimed before stuffing his face more with food and muttering to himself about his rude sister. There was plenty more to him than just being an otaku! He’s a complex middle schooler with many interests and feelings! Just gotta have MJ write more chapters to really flesh out Rikuto and stuff. Maybe then we’ll see more of this family and who they really are. I promise these people aren’t just one dimensional.
Akari disregarded her sulking brother and turned to her father, “How was your day, dad?”
“Same old, same old.” Yamato chuckled at his childrens antics, “I got plenty of errands done today!” He was quite proud of himself for doing that. Yamato did plenty of shopping, hung out with some old friends and even cleaned up the house just a tad. He had quite the productive day while his kids were at school and his wife at work! The retired chef now has plenty of time to do basically anything he wants while being a stay-at-home father. When the kids were younger, there was a bit more to do since he had to take care of them. Though now his son and daughter are getting older and proving to be more capable of taking care of themselves, which means more time for Yamato to do as he pleases most of the time. They will always be his babies and he will dote on them as such, but he can’t deny them growing up into a young man and woman.
The three then heard the sound of their front door opening and the clicking of heels entering. A heavy sigh emanated from the doorway as it shut harshly. It seemed like Miku had returned home. It was far too early for Miku to have come back, after all it was only nearly seven at night. Most of the time she would return home well after midnight. So this was more than a surprise, one that was more than welcomed.
“Welcome home!” They all yelled out to her.
Yamato was at his feet in an instant. He began to dote on his wife while jumping around like an overzealous puppy. “Oh my darling! Let me take your things, please sit. You must be tired after such a long day at work.” He collected her blazer and bag to put away as she walked and sat down at the dining table. Yamato made quick work of fixing her a plate of food as she settled herself in. After all, she works so hard, and he always wants to treat her like a queen when she comes home after a hard day at work. He thinks that she deserves it with her work.
Miku huffed, “it wasn’t that long. We were able to settle a deal with an overseas company earlier than planned, so I thought it best to come home a bit early as well.” While her job was
Rikuto jumped up in joy with a thumbs up, “Good job mom!” Besides him, Akari nodded her head in agreement. Both of them were more than glad to have a mother who was as smart and amazing as her. How many kids could say that their parent was a successful entrepreneur?
She let out the barest of smiles at the pride from her family. Miku loves her family, even if she may not seem to show it all that much. She is a tsundere through and through. Never really outwardly showing her emotions to others, including her family, but she was bursting with it. Sure, she keeps up a blase, blank expression most of the time but she isn’t as emotionless as some people think.
A plate of food was placed in front of her as Yamato planted a sweet kiss on the side of her head. He gave her a wide, proud smile as he sat across from her and continued to take bites out of his food. Yup, Yamato was over the moon now. Not only was he getting to hear about how his children’s days were, but his wife was home early. Oh, it was wonderful!
He loves his family. So so so so much! Every moment in his life had led him here, and there is no way that he could ever complain about it. An amazing wife, two sweet kids, and a pretty relaxed life. It’s just perfect for him!
