Dylan decided to go and check out the bump in the night...
The bump came from the deck of the boat house cabin. Though Dylan feels like he saw something out of the corner of his eye slipping around the side of the house. When he turns the corner, he thinks there are multiple figures in the woods. He chooses to go back inside and end his bump-in-the-night chase.
Maybe he’ll sleep with the light on and maybe he’ll tell his cabin mates… The choice is Dylan's, but know … every choice has a consequence, eventually.

So this is how it ends || End of Day Five
Ever since the night he’d watched the mysterious figures from just outside of his cabin, Dylan had been cautious about the island they were staying on. As much as he had tried to distract himself, his mind would frequently wander to the images that had stained his mind from that night. Now, however, any shadow of doubt in his own gut instinct, had been disproved. Staring down at Octavia’s cold corpse, his own blood ran cold, and he could feel the blood draining from his face, leaving him with a pale vacant expression. He felt so helpless as he watched Theodore perform CPR, his own hands trembling. There wasn’t a flicker of rational thought that the man had drowned accidentally. Dylan knew that something was very wrong.
Time flooded past him, still staring vacantly when Theodore informed him that he was going to contact main office. It felt like less than seconds that he stood alone on the dock, his eyes distracted by the figures that seemed to get closer and closer by the second. When he finally broke away, he turned his attention towards Theodore. Yet, Theodore wasn’t alone now. A ghostly figure seemed to be wrapped around him, resembling a woman that couldn’t be Lola. It couldn’t be. In an attempt to register what he was seeing, he blinked furiously. In a panicked state, he felt as though he was waiting for a signal from his brain to do something, anything.
Then it finally came:
Run.
Dylan had no recollection of ever running this fast in his life. He powered all of the energy he had into getting as far away as possible, adrenaline coursing through every inch of his body. He couldn’t prevent himself from turning back every couple of seconds, the figures appearing closer with every glance, inspiring to keep moving. A knowledge of how far ahead, Dylan thought, would help keep him alive. He didn’t think for a second that it would be the thing that killed him.
The excess adrenaline that fired through his nerves almost numbed him to the piercing feeling that ripped through his chest. Almost. In somewhat of a haze, Dylan couldn’t quite understand why he wasn’t running anymore, why he had come to a sudden halt. Then it struck him. It was a burning sensation at first, spreading through from the branch’s point of entry to the rest of his chest. This sensation was quickly followed by a wave of tension throughout his body, as he exhaled to try and relieve it. Even as his hands gripped the wood that very clearly penetrated his skin, he couldn’t quite grasp the gravity of the situation he was in.
It’s okay. It’s just a stick. I just need to pull it out, and I can keep running. I can’t see them anymore. Maybe I’ve lost them. Maybe I can wait it out here, until morning, then get help. It’s just a stick. People survive this kind of thing all the time. This couldn’t kill me.
These words would become his mantra, until the blood began to stain his shirt, seeping through his clothes and dripping on to the floor. He slowly built up the courage to run his fingers along his shoulder blades, and down onto his back. That’s where he felt the fragmented branch protruding from his skin. He screamed. He screamed so loud that the night birds flew from their high branches, and he prayed he’d wake people from their cabins. The scream would very quickly sink into a broken sob, the gravity of his predicament crashing down on him.
When the blood pooling around his feet had started to grow, seeping into the ground below, and trickling like a stream, Dylan knew that he was going to bleed to death. He became too weak to pull at the branch, no longer trying to dislodge himself, as delusional as that was initially. His throat became dry, and the dripping of the blood into the puddle below was enough to drive him crazy. What had been slow, pathetic pants had gained rhythm and speed, becoming desperate gasps for air.
For Dylan, the pain wasn’t even the worst part, it was the ever present feeling of helplessness. Things that he had once been certain of, were now hazy in his mind. He was confused as to why his mother stood before him. She was supposed to be dead. But if she was dead, why had she come close enough to stroke the beads of sweat from his forehead like she would do during fevers when he was a child? Why was his brother on the island, reassuring him that it would all be okay? Dylan was too far gone to understand the delusional apparitions that were forcing their way into his mind, to distract him from the excruciating pain that now radiated through every fibre of his being.
The illusions faded to a brief period of intense dizziness, sending Dylan’s head falling backwards to face the stars.
That’s nice. He thought, admiring the stars up above as he drifted in and out of consciousness. They brought him a sense of calm, whilst under his breath his muttered the names of all the constellations to a person that just wasn’t there.
“And that one there is Aries. My star sign. I don’t believe in any of that rubbish, but it is a little ironic, that I stand here dying under the stars that claim my birth date.”

‣SABR AUV: CITW: DEATH NOTICE ↴
Octavian’s drowned corpse was found by Dylan and Theodore after they heard some commotion outside their cabin, looked out their windows, and saw a body floating in the water, bobbing against the dock. They pulled their cabin mate out of the water and onto the dock of their boat house cabin. After a failed attempt at CPR Theodore said he would run inside and call the main office for help. Alone on the dock with Theodore, Dylan saw the same figures moving through the woods, stopping just at the wood’s edge... watching him. Meanwhile, Theodore was instantly faced with the ghostly soaking wet figure of Lola, a silent scream contorting her face. No one would have believed him if Dylan hadn’t come in the door and seen her too. The last thing Dylan saw in the cabin was the Lola-like creature smothering Theo. Bolting, he wouldn’t notice Octavian’s body was gone. Unfortunately for Dylan, there was only one way to go, toward the woods. As he ran he would meet his death by impaling himself on a hefty branch of a fallen tree. When searching for the bodies of the missing lodgers of Mason cabin, the authorities would never find their bodies and the pools of water had long since dried. Even Dylan’s body in the woods had vanished, the blood covered tree passed over in the thicket of the forest.

Theodore wakes up and can't move.
‣ NIGHTMARE ↴
Lola made it to the island and after a nice day showing her around, you two head to bed and quickly fall asleep. Before you open your eyes you feel cold and realize the bed is soaking wet.
‣ SLEEP PARALYSIS ↴
When you open your eyes you see, albeit poorly because the only light in the room is the moonlight coming in through your cabin window, Lola at the end of your bed, soaking wet. Water pours from her mouth as she crawls forward. Her body looks disjointed and pale. You’re unable to move, but you’re certain you’re awake and can feel the weight of her on top of you.
‣ AFTERMATH ↴
Theodore won’t sleep well for the rest of the trip, perhaps not in his room at all. When he breaks his sleep paralysis and turns on a light the bed is wet, but there’s no sign of Lola. Note: Every cabin is equipt with a full-size washer and dryer, so it is his choice to talk to anyone about what happened to him.

What are you waiting for....? Zosia chooses to wait, not feeling right about leaving when there's people missing and possibly in need of help.
‣ WAITING GAME ↴
Dawson caught Zosia’s attention when he pointed out the ferry was in distress. They had been standing close to each other, as they had arrived together from the same cabin. Rather than get involved in the chaos in the woods, she decides to go where she knows she might be helpful and starts running down the island’s coastline with Dawson...
‣ CHOICES ↴
Does she wait to see where Dawson goes or has she already made up her own mind that she will grab a kayak at the water sports venue or a boat from Mason cabin?

Dawson decided to stay
‣ WAITING GAME ↴
Dawson made it to the Main Office just fine, though he did notice his cabin mate, Tomlin, was missing. The departure seemed to be a somber one, but he noticed the number of people missing was more significant than the number of staff and lodgers leaving the island. While everyone was freaking out over the creepy woods, Dawson was still watching the ferry as it grew smaller in the distance. With a significant bob to the ferry in the water, he wondered if the lake’s water could be choppy or if something had happened. Then he saw the ferry quickly sinking. With the water sports venue and Mason cabin with row boats and pedal boats, Dawson calls those left on the shore to help. They are all painfully aware that it is too far off for anyone to swim out and rescue someone.
‣ CHOICES ↴
Does Dawson run the shorter distance to the water sports cabin and take a kayak out or the farther distance to Mason cabin where there are row boats and pedal boats?

Blossom’s decision to check on the woman on the deck, Fallon’s decision to check on the woman roaming the halls, and Octavian’s reaction to freeze have all resulted in their deaths. Subsequently, their actions and deaths have triggered the death of everyone left in Puente and Mason cabins.
Death Notices will post at 5 pm EST.

What story did Octavian hear?
‣ BONFIRE STORY ↴
A large family pulled their five children, four sons and one daughter, from public school and moved out of the big city. They found it too liberal and wanted their children to have a proper Christian education. However, the kids weren’t young, the youngest was thirteen and the rest were high school aged, and they were devastated to be uprooted from their friends and hobbies. The longer they were secluded in the woods the longer the children found their own means of entertainment. Animals started disappearing and when their father was out hunting he found some of the horrors in the woods created by his children: crosses hanging upside down and massive holes filled with pikes. It would be in one of these very pits he would meet his end. After their father was out of the way they found their mother and drowned her. Their rationale was that without their parents they could go back to the city. However, the car was out of gas, used to drive as far as possible out of the city and into the woods. As a result, they chose to walk. All the children, though their bodies were never found, were presumed to have died in the long trek through the woods.
‣ MASON CABIN ↴
On the way to Mason cabin, Octavian could have sworn he heard the sound of child-like laughter and singing in the woods along the path. Unable to sleep he sat outside on the dock of the former-boathouse cabin, looking out at the water. Lost in his own thoughts he didn’t turn around when he heard footsteps behind him and the door into the cabin immediately opened three times. After all, he had no reason to think that Easton was missing, let alone dead. That was until a person sat in the adirondack chair next to him.
‣ CHOICES ↴
Does Octavian run, fight, or freeze?
