Truly we need a comeback of the KH2-style prologue. I want to boot up KH4 and the first seven hours of gameplay are you playing as some guy named Akihito from Accounting who's just trying to get through his work week as giant monsters attack the city. (He is secretly a character important to the plot).

i think aventurine at his core has that very particular blend of self awareness & self illusion that makes for some of the most fascinating interiority i've seen in the game so far. he's fooling himself. he's fooling him *self*....

this paired with like: yes, the concretisation of an end, simultaneously all those "what then? what now?". this is what it was leading to, even without the death sentence. his most lavish self/outcome/end is simultaneously a form of self ownership as well as a conscious death.

obsessed with the implication of him trying to die here (first image). in a way its a rehearsal, just like the outfit is (the identity jade tells him to choose). the one which can't be drenched by the Rain. his outfit thought of in tandem with his apparent sexualisation - untouchability to it. tearing down the dream's fabric / so at odds with the agency he exerts.

Macky is so funny tho, slinking his head into his shoulders like the shy kids do at school, arms crossed and being grumpy about "oh dw about thanking me for saving you from being stuck here bc apparently my sacrifice was wAsTeD since you came here anyways" 🙄 and Wukong doesn't even say anything back about it...interesting! Could be MK, could be he agrees, but I also think this time Macky is genuinely unhappy about that and not fully meaning it to make Wukong rise to the bait or anything. I think he just needed to express that idk.
