Buckeye’s Soar Past Vols, Set Up Rose Bowl Rematch with Oregon

The Ohio State Buckeyes, fueled by a dominant first half and a stifling defense, cruised past the Tennessee Volunteers 42-17 in the first round of the College Football playoff. Quarterback Will Howard, the transfer from Kansas State, silenced his doubters with a stellar performance, completing 24 of 29 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns. Injuries and Imbalances:

The Volunteers were hampered by injuries throughout the game, losing key players like running back Dylan Sampson and wide receivers Dont’e Thomton and Squirrel White. This forced quarterback Nico Iamaleava to carry the load with his legs, rushing for 20 carries and two touchdowns.
