I was inspired by ktscanvases on tiktok who chooses a random sticker to make a collage so I did that! This is my first attempt 🥰 but it was so much fun to let my brain just go after a day of writing for my PhD.

Geology and society integration
Geology always wins and has shaped the way society has changed over the course of human evolution and history overall.

I know I haven’t been very active on here, my PhD is kicking my butt yall.
If you wanna see how I cope with the stress follow @trying_crafts on Instagram!
Maybe I’ll also post some of that stuff on here 🤔
Anyway, PhD is no joke but it’s so much harder when the people who are supposed to support you don’t. It’s also important to remember to stand up for yourself.

Apparently if you find a tagged Horseshoe crab and report it to Fish and Wildlife they’ll send you a certificate with info about your crab AND a pewter horseshoe crab pin! Keep your eyes peeled 👀

Trying to get a feel for how convincing I can make my little newspaper clippings. I am playing with props for that Conspiracy Board Story I like to pretend I'll write. There probably won't be any giant chickens in that one.

Kinda wild seeing mainstream news outlets reporting on a newly discovered Cambrian superpredator this morning But I guess I'll take it???? This is Timorebestia koprii, a newly described stem-chaetognath from the lower Cambrian (Terreneuvian) of the Sirius Passet Lagerstätte in Northern Greenland. Definitely check out the full paper below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For those familiar with Burgess Shale fauna, T. koprii appears to be a sister taxon to that of Amiskwia sagittiformis.
Tumblr media
Though according to the Royal Ontario Museum's website, specimens of A. sagittiformis have only been found up to 25 mm, while specimens of T. koprii have been found up to 200 mm long (~290 mm counting the antennae)!

She found this dope ass rock! It’s was found in Grand Teton National Park, Jenny Lake Loop! Anyone have any guesses?
P.S. I know you're not supposed to do rock ID from pictures but look how cool!!

Went to Big Bend National Park in Texas!!!
First two pictures are along the Emory Peak trail with a view of what they call The Window. The rocks are from a rhyolitic lava flow.
Third picture is of the eclipse.
Fourth is of mini potholes or vugs from a random rock I climbed into.
Fifth is the trail heading to the Rio Grande depicting the Santa Elena Canyon.
