Day 3: Peaceful boat
Tumblr media
Reminds me of this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmJ4sk5Mcp8&ab_channel=PootisPootisPootis
Very cool looking image, you can't really tell if it's drawn or a photo. It's also a little eerie.

Wellness Wednesdays

Clinical Associate Professor Ruth White points to the phenomenon of criminalization of African American behavior which she frames within the context of American Justice system. 13% of the adult population is black in the U.S. and 33% of them are sentenced to prison + they get more police brutality than white people meanwhile white people who make up 61% of the adult population, only 30% of them are imprisoned. If an African American person with a mental illness (example: schizophrenia) acts out violently, they're in a much higher chance to get criminalized than to be given a mental health care...that is horrible...and of course this stoked the fear in the black community and caused an even more rejection of getting mental health care fearing they might get harsh legal repercussions. Now Ruth has said 'As a country, we need to make meaningful policy changes that will increase mental health care Access for people of color so fewer African Americans will go without the treatment they need'.
Source:
Please if you do suffer from mental illnesses or have intrusive thoughts please reach out and talk to people and get help...I know it's easier said than done...but they can help you or at least try to help... people care about you...you can't hide it for long because just like dry ice inside the plastic bottle... your emotions will explode.

I know it's not technically spooky time yet since it's only September but we got Spirit of Halloween so i think it's fair to ask: do you have like a...top 5 songs that give you the creeps?
As far as I'm concerned September is the true beginning of Halloween season, and this is a great question!
Fair warning that several of these songs are very disturbing. Listener's discretion is advised 🎧
Well to start with perhaps an obvious pick, "My Heaven" from Silent Hill 1's OST still freaks me out to this day. Honestly the entire sound design of SH is top notch when it comes to scaring the hell out of me while playing, but this track manages to unnerve me even when I'm not experiencing the moment this plays in-game. It's those damn dentist drills! What a brilliant and terrifying idea!
Speaking of instrumentals, while I'm not nearly as disturbed by Ruth White's music as I used to be when I first discovered her (though that's largely due to me obsessively listening to Flowers of Evil until I grew numb to the horrors), this ONE track of hers called "Love Gives Wings (With Wings)" still freaks me out. It starts off relatively calming, only to descend into a chaos of electronic noise in a way that makes me feel like I'm witnessing a horrific crime unfold before my very eyes. I can't even imagine what this must've been like for people to listen to when it came out in the late 60's o_0
"Frankie Teardrop" by Suicide remains the most overtly disturbing song I've ever listened to. Fair warning, the song is a story about a man shooting his infant child and wife before killing himself (and descending into hell), so if that triggers you DON'T listen to this! The droning music and clear-cut, nervous delivery of each and every lyric makes the story so engaging that I basically force myself to listen to it in full, and even still every blood curdling scream still jumpscares me each time despite roughly knowing when they're coming, and those last 5 minutes of this 10-minute mental breakdown of a song genuinely makes me feel like my soul is traveling down to hell with Frankie to listen to him suffer. Also apparently Bruce Springsteen was inspired by this song when he wrote his album Nebraska...
I'd also add "Hamburger Lady" by Throbbing Gristle onto my list here, mostly in regards to how this song actually manages to sound so sonically disgusting to my eardrums. Can't name many songs that do that to me. Though I must confess compared to all these other songs I honestly find it less creepy and more just plain sad, since the song is about a burn victim dying from their horrific wounds (another huge trigger I should warn about).
Out of all of these creepy songs, my absolute favorite of them has to be "I Have a Special Plan for This World" by Current 93. This one is an entire 22 minutes of spoken word poetry set to a subtle, haunting ambient track that's essentially a disturbing mental exodus on one man's hatred and morbid fascination with the daily darkness of humanity. The themes I personally get from it are nihilism, intrusive thoughts of death, and a downward spiral of depression. I'd say compared to all the others this one has the most subtly to its disturbing aspects; no loud noises, no freaky uses of sound (besides the garbled speech between the verses), just a series of dark poetry spoken plainly against a sad, dreamlike backdrop of electronic music. Absolute masterclass.

Base designs:

The bad thing about drawing them so far apart from each other is that my rendering style slowly shifts and it became inconsistent
if you question me why i spent so much time on these or why i made them monochrome, trust me, i have no idea either but THESE ARE MY CHILDREN NOW!!!
Feel free to use these as lock screens, wallpapers, profile pictures, idk, as long as you ask me, i'll let you use these bad boys

Ruth White – 7 Trumps From The Tarot Cards And Pinions LP
Halloween Season: Occult Synths
Experimental analog electronics from 1969.
A quote:
“We have new horizons; we have begun to move into areas that will offer us incredible opportunities as creators. In the future, we will alter environments and interact with audiences in ways that are just beginning to be seen today and about which we are just beginning to hear. The new environments will be created in centers of new architectural shapes. They will be controlled by computers. We will see new sights and old treasures as if they actually existed in real dimension via holography. We will hear music that travels and sound illusions that shrink and expand space. Rooms will be covered with skins of liquid crystals and electrical circuits. Electric couches will shock and move, and ceilings will rotate. It is possible that we may be evolving toward art or sensations to be absorbed in a comatose state … and all to pass the light years away as we travel in our space chambers to distant points.”
Fuck yea. Get it from my Google Drive HERE
