Wedding Woes
Five Hargreeves x Fem!reader
Warnings: none
Planning a wedding should be a joyous occasion, but for Five Hargreeves and his fiancée Y/N, it quickly turned into a battlefield of hilarious disagreements. From the moment they decided to tie the knot, every decision seemed to spark a new debate.
“Chocolate!” Five declared, arms crossed, as they sat in the office of Sweet Sensations, the premier bakery in town.
“Red velvet!” Y/N countered, her eyes sparkling with determination.
The baker, caught between the two, held up a tentative hand. “We could do a combination cake?”
Five and Y/N turned to her, then back to each other, shaking their heads simultaneously. “Nope.”
“What’s wrong with red velvet?” Y/N argued, her brow furrowing. “It’s elegant and delicious.”
Five scoffed. “Chocolate is a classic. And I don’t trust a cake that’s named after a fabric.”
“Fine,” Y/N said, rolling her eyes. “What about the design?”
“Simple and clean,” Five said, envisioning a minimalistic cake.
Y/N, however, had other ideas. “I was thinking something with a little more... flair. Maybe some flowers, intricate designs—”
Before Five could retort, Klaus burst into the bakery, trailed by Diego and Luther. “Hey, lovebirds! How’s the cake tasting going?”
Five sighed. “We’re just... debating the finer points.”
Klaus waggled his eyebrows. “Why not go with a giant rainbow cake? It’s festive!”
Diego chuckled. “I vote for something with bacon on it.”
Luther just looked confused. “Do people put bacon on cakes?”
The baker looked like she might faint.
In the end, they settled on a layered cake with alternating tiers of chocolate and red velvet, topped with simple but elegant decorations. It wasn’t exactly what either had envisioned, but it was a compromise—a word that Five was rapidly learning to accept.
Next on the list was the music. Five preferred a live jazz band, while Y/N was leaning toward a playlist of their favorite songs.
“Jazz sets the mood,” Five insisted, adjusting his tie as they met with a potential band leader in their living room.
“Yeah, the mood for a 1920s speakeasy,” Y/N shot back. “We need something more modern, something we can really dance to.”
The band leader, an older gentleman with a pencil-thin mustache, interjected. “We can do a mix, if you’d like?”
Before either could respond, Viktor wandered in, carrying his violin. “Need a musician? I can play Anything you want.”
Five perked up. “Can you do jazz?”
Viktor nodded. “Of course. But I also know some contemporary pieces.”
Y/N’s eyes lit up. “What about ‘You Are the Best Thing’ by Ray LaMontagne?”
Viktor smiled. “I can do that.”
Five threw up his hands. “Fine, let’s have Viktor play. Just... not too much Ray LaMontagne.”
Klaus sauntered in, a mischievous grin on his face. “I could DJ! Imagine the fun we’d have with a mix of 80s pop and punk rock!”
Five stared at him. “Absolutely not.”
When it came to decorations, Five wanted sleek and modern, while Y/N envisioned a romantic, rustic theme.
“We need string lights and mason jars,” Y/N said, flipping through a wedding magazine.
Five groaned. “We’re not having a Pinterest wedding. How about something more sophisticated? Like geometric centerpieces.”
“Geometric?” Y/N laughed. “What are we, hosting a math conference?”
Lila, who had shown up uninvited but was enjoying the chaos, added her two cents. “I think you should go with a theme park idea. Imagine—carnival games, cotton candy, maybe even a Ferris wheel!”
Y/N laughed. “Actually, that sounds kind of fun.”
Five buried his face in his hands. “We’re not turning our wedding into a circus.”
In the end, they settled on a rustic-chic blend with some modern touches—fairy lights and mason jars for Y/N, and sleek tableware and geometric designs for Five. It was a mix that surprisingly worked, combining the best of both their visions.
Even the wedding invitations were a source of contention. Five wanted them to be minimalist and elegant, while Y/N wanted something more whimsical and colorful.
“This font is too boring,” Y/N complained, staring at the sample invite. “It doesn’t scream ‘fun.’”
Five rubbed his temples. “We’re not throwing a rave, Y/N. We’re getting married. It should be timeless.”
Klaus, had another idea. “Why not go with a pop-up invitation? Like those 3D books! People would love that.”
Five shot him a look. “We’re not making pop-up books, Klaus.”
Despite the disagreements, the wedding day arrived, and everything was miraculously coming together. Five and Y/N stood at the altar, their family and friends gathered around them. The setting was a perfect blend of their styles—rustic yet sophisticated, whimsical yet elegant.
As they exchanged vows, Five couldn’t help but smile at Y/N. Despite their differences, their love for each other had only grown stronger through the process. It was clear that, no matter the debates, they were perfect for each other.
When they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, the crowd erupted into applause, and Klaus, predictably, started a slow clap that turned into an impromptu chant of “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
Five’s siblings had their mishaps—Klaus accidentally spilled champagne on Viktor’s suit, Lila got into a friendly wrestling match with Allison over the bouquet, and Luther accidentally triggered a sound system malfunction that blasted “Never Gonna Give You Up” at full volume during the toasts.
At the end of the night, as they danced under the twinkling lights, Five pulled Y/N close and whispered, “You know, despite all the chaos, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Y/N smiled up at him, her eyes sparkling. “Not even the part where we almost had a bacon cake?”
Five chuckled. “Not even that. Well... maybe a little.”
Y/N laughed, leaning in to kiss him. “I love you, Five Hargreeves. Even if you have terrible taste in cakes.”
Five grinned, wrapping his arms around her. “And I love you, Y/N Hargreeves. Even if you have questionable taste in everything else.”
As they swayed to the music, surrounded by their chaotic but loving family, Five realized that the debates, the compromises, and the occasional disaster were all part of what made their love story uniquely theirs.
And for Five and Y/N, that was all they ever wanted.

The engagement party was an elaborate affair, hosted at a charming venue in Evergreen Harbor, complete with string lights, a live band, and tables overflowing with food. Emerson, ever the perfectionist, had insisted on a theme—“Rustic Elegance”—and it showed in every meticulously chosen detail, from the wildflower centerpieces to the artisanal charcuterie boards.
For Rhodes, the night was less about the aesthetic and more about surviving the event without anyone catching on to their facade. Trying to fool his entire family, especially his mom and grandparents, felt like walking a tightrope.
Emerson was in her element, charming everyone with her sparkling personality and quick wit. Ashlee had seemed skeptical at first but softened as the night went on. Emerson made sure to mention all the things she loved about Rhodes—their shared love of adventure, his “amazing” cooking skills, and his dedication to his career.
“You’ve got yourself a good one,” Ashlee said to Emerson, raising her glass in a toast.
“I know,” Emerson replied with a radiant smile. “I’m the luckiest girl in the world.”
Rhodes forced a grin, sipping his drink to hide the knot forming in his stomach.
Even his grandparents, notoriously tough critics, were taken with Emerson. Bonnie, his grandmother, pulled him aside at one point, saying, “She’s a keeper, Rhodes. Don’t mess this up.”
The evening ended with a toast from Ashlee, who welcomed Emerson into the family with open arms. Rhodes was surprised by how much warmth and support his family showed, even if it made the guilt gnaw at him.
Before the night was over, Emerson dragged Rhodes to the venue’s patio for a quick photo session. “We need something for the wedding invitations,” she said, adjusting her dress and pulling him close.
The photographer snapped a series of shots: Emerson leaning her head on Rhodes’s shoulder, Rhodes with his arms around her waist, both of them laughing at something the photographer said to ease the tension.
When they looked at the preview, Emerson’s eyes lit up. “This one,” she said, pointing to an image of them standing under the string lights, of the two of them looking as if they were in their own little world.
Rhodes nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat. “Yeah, it’s perfect.”

The Art of Wedding Cakes: Creating the Perfect Confection for Your Special Day
In the intricate tapestry of wedding planning, few elements carry the sweet anticipation and celebratory charm of the wedding cake. More than just a dessert, wedding cakes are a symbol of the couple's journey, a centerpiece that reflects their unique style and taste. In this article, we delve into the world of wedding cakes, exploring the artistry and significance behind these delightful creations and guiding you on how to select the perfect cake for your special day.
The Significance of Wedding Cakes
Wedding cakes have long been a symbol of joy and prosperity, marking the culmination of the couple's love story. The tradition of cutting the cake represents the couple's first task together, a shared experience that symbolizes their commitment to support and nourish each other. In modern weddings, the cake continues to be a focal point, combining taste and aesthetics to create a memorable highlight of the celebration.
Choosing the Perfect Wedding Cake
Selecting the right wedding cake involves more than picking flavors and designs. It’s about creating a piece that resonates with your wedding theme, pleases the palate, and reflects your personality. Here’s how you can ensure you get the perfect confection:
Theme and Design
Your wedding cake should harmonize with the overall theme of your wedding. Whether you prefer a vintage-inspired cake with intricate lace designs or a sleek, modern creation with geometric patterns, wedding cakes can translate your vision into a stunning reality. Work with your baker to incorporate elements that echo your wedding's style, ensuring the cake is a true visual centerpiece.
Flavor Profiles
Beyond its appearance, the taste of your wedding cake is paramount. While classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet remain popular, many couples are exploring unique tastes such as lemon lavender, matcha, or salted caramel. Wedding cakes offer a plethora of flavor combinations and fillings that can satisfy diverse palates. Schedule a tasting session with your baker to discover the perfect blend of flavors that will delight your guests.
Size and Portions
The size of your wedding cake should be tailored to the number of guests. A multi-tiered cake not only makes a grand visual statement but also ensures there’s enough to go around. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a lavish celebration, wedding cakes can be customized to fit your guest list, providing the right amount of deliciousness for everyone.
Personalization
A personalized wedding cake adds a special touch to your celebration. Incorporate elements that reflect your love story, such as your wedding colors, monograms, or even specific motifs that are meaningful to you as a couple. Wedding cakes can be tailored with endless customization options, from the type of icing to detailed decorations that make your cake a unique piece of art.
Current Trends in Wedding Cakes
Wedding cakes evolve with trends, continually offering fresh ideas to inspire couples. Here are some of the latest trends in wedding cakes:
Naked Cakes
Naked cakes, with their minimalist aesthetic and rustic appeal, are gaining popularity. These cakes feature minimal frosting, highlighting the layers and fillings inside, often adorned with fresh fruits and flowers. Wedding cakes can perfect this trend, balancing simplicity with elegance.
Metallic Touches
Metallic accents in gold, silver, or rose gold add a touch of luxury and sophistication to wedding cakes. Whether through edible foil, paint, or shimmering decorations, these touches can elevate the overall look of your cake, making it a dazzling centerpiece.
Floral Decorations
Flowers, both real and sugar-crafted, remain a favorite for wedding cake decoration. They bring color, texture, and a romantic flair to the cake. Wedding cakes can seamlessly incorporate floral elements, ensuring they complement your wedding’s floral arrangements.
Geometric Patterns
For a contemporary twist, geometric patterns like hexagons and chevrons are becoming popular. These designs offer a chic and modern look. Wedding cakes can execute these intricate patterns with precision, making your cake a standout piece.
Tips for a Flawless Wedding Cake Experience
To ensure your wedding cake is everything you’ve dreamed of, consider these tips:
Book Early
Renowned bakers often have busy schedules, especially during peak wedding seasons. Booking your baker early ensures you have ample time to plan and perfect your cake.
Clear Communication
Communicate your ideas, inspirations, and any dietary requirements clearly with your baker. Wedding cakes can accommodate various needs, including gluten-free or vegan options.
Consider the Venue
Choose a cake that suits your venue and climate. For outdoor weddings in warm climates, select a cake that can withstand higher temperatures. Discuss these considerations with your baker to ensure your cake remains perfect throughout the event.
Plan the Display
The way your cake is displayed can enhance its visual impact. Coordinate with your wedding planner to place the cake in a prominent location with appropriate lighting and decoration.
Conclusion
Wedding cakes are more than just a sweet treat; they are a symbol of love, creativity, and celebration. By choosing wedding cakes, you ensure that this centerpiece is as memorable as the vows you exchange. From selecting the ideal flavor to designing a cake that wows your guests, the right wedding cake can add a touch of magic to your special day. Embrace the journey of crafting a cake that is uniquely yours and savor every moment of your wedding celebration.

I Can Wait
A/N: Happy day 3 of @sjmromanceweek week! Today's theme is Honeymoon, and I have to admit, I did stay a bit loose with this theme. If they say the word honeymoon in the drabble, that count, right? Hopefully! Also, this is especially dedicated to @talkfantasytome who is the Cresserie queen :)
“This is a joke, right?”
“Come on, Cresseida. Isn’t it beautiful?”
“No, seriously. This is a sick joke, right?”
Cresseida takes one look at her brother’s face, and she knows he’s unfortunately being completely serious. Varian at least has the decency to grimace, to offer a small, sympathetic smile, but it does nothing to change the facts of the matter. It does nothing to change the fact that her brother is having his wedding in the mountains.
The fucking mountains.
Cresseida doesn’t care how many photos Varian showed her. Doesn’t care how picturesque the quaint little resort Varian and Amren have rented out is. Doesn’t care how breathtaking she’s sure they’ll both look in their all black ensembles against the backdrop of the snow. Doesn’t care about anything other than the fact that she’s currently standing outside a tiny ass airport, waiting for the shuttle that will take them up the mountain. About the fact she’s currently freezing her ass off.
She’s an absolute saint of a sister, and Varian better damn well know it.
“I’m not built for the cold,” Cresseida continues to protest, letting out a soft sigh and bundling her jacket closer. “Why couldn’t you have a destination wedding somewhere warm again?”
“It will be fine, Cress,” Varian assures her, lifting his arm just in time for Amren to join them outside and to tuck herself against his side. “You’ll see.”
~ * * * ~
Rustic is the only way that Cresseida can think to describe the bed and breakfast she’s standing in. A large, brick fireplace sits as the centerpiece of the front room, comfy armchairs and a sofa arranged around the orange flames flickering inside. Rather than any type of overhead lighting, lamps are littered around the space, providing a homely glow to the whole room, and exposed wooden beams line the ceiling above.
Cresseida makes her way across the room to the small front desk set up along the left wall. The woman standing behind the desk has her back turned, hunched over slightly, and Cresseida swears she can spot the pages of a novel opened in the woman’s hands. Cresseida clears her throat, and it does the trick to get the woman’s attention. The sound of a book slamming closed echoes in the quiet space, and then finally, the woman turns around.
In an instant, Cresseida’s entire mind goes blank, the whole world seeming to stutter to a stop before kicking back into gear, kicking into overdrive. The woman is absolutely stunning. Her dark hair is braided down along her shoulder, but the front strands hang loose and frame her face. It draws emphasis to the lines of her cheek bones, to a pair of soft looking brown eyes that seem to glint in the low light of the room.
Cresseida knows that she’s staring, is aware somewhere in the back of her mind that she’s practically gaping, but she doesn’t think anyone can blame her. Especially when the woman smiles, the sight completely breathtaking.
“Checking in?” the woman asks.
Cresseida clears her throat, quickly regathering her bearings. “Yes. I’m here for the wedding. It should be under the name Cresseida.”
The woman nods her head, turning to tap away at the computer in front of her. “We have you in our Windhaven Suite.”
The woman grabs one of the keys, sliding it across the desk. Cresseida reaches out to take it, and for a moment, their fingers brush together. Just that small contact has sparks radiating up her arm, has her heart tripping over itself in her chest, and she’s thankful that at least the low light of the room will hopefully hide the heat starting to creep up her neck and settle on her cheeks.
“Thanks…?” Cresseida offers, leaving the end of the sentence open expectantly.
“Emerie. It’s Emerie. Enjoy your stay.”
Somehow, someway, Cresseida finds it in herself to nod, but she doesn’t think she’ll be able to get Emerie’s face, Emerie’s smile, Emerie’s everything out of her mind any time soon. She will absolutely be enjoying her stay.
~ * * * ~
With nothing other than the rehearsal and subsequent rehearsal dinner later in the day, Cresseida decides to spend the morning taking full advantage of the free time and lounging in the large, four poster bed in the center of her room. Her eyes skate toward the windows, taking in the snowy mountain peaks just beyond, and just looking at them has a shiver ricocheting up her spine, has her burrowing deeper into her blankets.
She gives herself just a little while longer to relax before finally pulling herself up and out of bed. She takes the time to shower, not thinking about it too hard, not allowing herself to second guess things, when she pulls on one of her nicer tops afterwards, before making her way back downstairs to the main floor of the bed and breakfast. The late morning start means that the front room is empty.
Well, mostly empty. Emerie is once again standing behind the front desk, a book opened in front of her.
Just as Cresseida planned it.
Cresseida doesn’t even bother biting back her smile at seeing the other woman again, her eyes tracking the way Emerie has her bottom lip caught between her teeth, the way a stray strand of hair falls over her face and reflects the glow of the fire light, the way her brown eyes seem to glint as they dance across the page she’s reading. She allows herself to admire the view for just a few more moments before taking a deep breath for courage, flicking her hair off her shoulder, and making her way over to the front desk.
Emerie looks up at the sound of her steps, offering a smile that has butterflies taking off in Cresseida’s gut. “Good morning. Did you enjoy your stay last night?”
“Most definitely,” Cresseida agrees, offering a smile of her own and leaning her elbows against the front desk.
“Glad to hear that. And can I help you with planning any excursions today?”
“I’m sure hoping you can.”
Cresseida makes sure her response is absolutely dripping with suggestion, licking her lips and not even bothering to bite back the smirk tugging its way across her lips. It’s definitely worth it for the color that floods in Emerie’s cheeks, the way she smirks right back before seeming to remember her professionalism.
“We have plenty of offerings,” Emerie begins after clearing her throat. “There’s of course the ski resort. We do rentals of skis and snowboards and have a free shuttle service to the lifts. There’s also snow tubing basically right next door to that. Or a little ways closer to town, we can also set up dog sledding for you.”
“Oh, absolutely nothing outside,” Cresseida dismisses with a casual wave of her hand. “I hate the cold.”
Emerie lets out a laugh at that, light and melodious, and practically striking Cresseida stupid. She wants to make her laugh again. She wants to make her laugh over and over until the sound is fully ingrained into her mind, etched into her very soul. She wants to memorize the way Emerie’s brown eyes light up, the way her nose scrunches and her cheeks pinch.
“You don’t like the cold, yet you’re here in the mountains?” Emerie teases, raising an eyebrow in amusement.
“Not my decision,” Cresseida explains with a sigh. “My brother has decided this is where he wants to get married. Mother knows why. If you’re going to have a destination wedding, why wouldn’t you want it somewhere warm? Like a beach? I’d love to have my wedding on a beach. Especially because then you can have your honeymoon there too. Wouldn’t you rather see your wife in a hot ass swimsuit rather than bundled up for the snow?”
“I’d certainly agree,” Emerie says, her eyes sweeping over Cresseida like she can perfectly imagine it.
It has Cresseida’s skin pebbling in goosebumps that have nothing to do with the snow, has her skin heating in response. She swears she can feel the gaze like a phantom touch, and suddenly, she’s longing for a taste of the real thing. She may be stuck in the fucking mountains of all places, but she’ll be damned if she doesn’t take this amazing opportunity presented in front of her, if she doesn’t find a way to pull this beautiful woman in front of her.
“So nothing outside then?” Emerie continues, her gaze finally cutting back to Cresseida’s own.
“Exactly. I’d much prefer something indoors. Perhaps something cozy and romantic?” Cresseida suggests, leaning further over the front desk until she can count every eyelash that frames Emerie’s eyes, can feel her hitched breath skate across her lips. “Something that can be delivered straight to my room?”
That pretty pink returns to Emerie’s cheeks but she doesn’t refute or pull away. Instead her eyes flicker down just once, just enough for Cresseida to clock the way they dip to her lips and back up again. The spark blazing in those brown eyes has Cresseida considering closing that inch of distance between them right here and right now, the fact they’re in the open and Emerie is technically working be damned. Anything to find out if those lips feel as soft as they look, anything for just a taste.
“I can certainly arrange something like that,” Emerie finally speaks again, her voice almost breathless. “But it won’t be available until after three.”
“That’s alright. I can wait.”
