Writing an extension to my previous post. After some consideration and planning, I have decided on a few key gamplay elements that are crucial to make my game stand out.
First things first, runes. Runes are (too keep things short) basically just letters from the old Norse language. These letters/symbols would each have an inherent "Elemental" power to them, and do a multitude of different things. These elements are the Element of the Flame, Element of the Divine, Element of the Fluid, and Element of the Earthrealm. More on Runes and Elements later.
What does a player do with runes? There will be three primary uses of these runes that you find, "Knowledge," "Art," and "Power."
"Power" is the most simple category. Runes placed into a Power slot are engraved directly onto the surface of your weapons and tools. A rune with the Element of the Flame as its focus would in some way shape or form increase the temperature of the object it's on. Be it a flaming hammer, a molten sword, or even just a stick that explodes on contact with enemies.
"Art" is also fairly easy to understand. Art refers to the act of creating some kind of salvo, effigy, or totem with the power of runes imbued into them. Totems would be placeable objects that can't be moved after placement. This would allow the player to create stationary sentry turrets shooting divine beams of light at anything that gets close, or an area of effect that heals you. Effigies are like throwable/placeable items that can be collected after use. A holy hand grenade with 10 charges? Okay. An item that turns into a giant boulder once thrown? Sure, if you're creative enough.
"Salvos" are consumable items that transfer their energy into the consumer, I don't think I need to elaborate further on this. Many possibilities.
"Knowledge" is the last and most complicated usage of runes.
Knowledge runes can be anything from passive effects to additional abilities. These runes are grafted directly onto the players skin, allowing them to charge themselves with a potentially infinite flow of energy. This however comes at a hefty cost.
Let's say, for example, you happened to find a Rune of the Divine with an effect that charges the object it's placed on with electricity. If you placed this onto your player without much more thought, you would simply electrocute yourself and die. My reasoning for making this category known as "Knowledge" is because the player will have to utilize many runes in conjunction with one another to tame their energy and quite literally program themselves into a conduit of anything they can imagine. Shoot flames from your hands whenever you thrust towards an enemy? Heal yourself over time at the cost of energy? Create an energy field that repels projectiles? Charge yourself with a specific element and then discharge it into whatever you're holding? The only limit is your imagination, provided development goes well.
So this obviously opens up many possibilities, allow me to demonstrate how a player could become more powerful.
To start with, you find a single Rune of the Flame, and place this onto your war hammer. You now have a flaming hammer, pretty cool. It's actually capable of dealing some damage to Odin's Constructs, but not enough. Making use of one example in my Knowledge explanation, a player could further enhance this Element of the Flame by also charging the player with some, and then transferring it into the hammer to increase how powerful the Flame is. You could further enhance this by placing a totem that charges you and your hammer with Flame, consuming a salvo that charges you with Flame, and then discharging it all into your hammer as you swing it into the body of your opponent, discharging the energy from your hammer into the enemy and engulfing their entirety in inextinguishable Flame.
How do I control the Elements and ensure I don't accidentally turn myself into a pebble, or shoot a beam of light that pierces the entire world and destroys everything?
Good question. There are three types of runes. Starter Runes are simply your standard runes, preprogrammed with certain abilities or effects and will generally have slots for Alteration Runes that allow you to further enhance or control said effects and abilities.
Alteration Runes are how you control your energy. Alteration Runes can be transcribed into your Starter Runes and can increase, decrease, channel, or change an Element with values and percentages depending on the quality of the Alteration rune. Some Starter Runes don't work as intended without additional Alteration.
Lastly, in order to actually utilize this energy that is stored within the runes, you have to then finally place the Altered Starter Rune into a Trigger Rune. Trigger Runes are fairly self explanatory. For the most part, Trigger Runes would allow you to discharge energy at the press of a button or after certain criteria have been met. Logic gates for magic, essentially.
If pressing Right Trigger, and stored Element of the Flame is above 90%, then
discharge element from [weapon/hand/totem/effigy]
This has been a fairly lengthy but descriptive walkthrough of how I am imagining the gameplay in Runeforged. Any comments, suggestions, questions, or even just speculation is appreciated, as I am serious about developing this project so long as I can attract some interest.

Daisy Moonblossom
"Ice Queen" © Xavier Collette. Accessed at his gallery here
[This is going to be the last of the PCs from the Rise of the Runelords game I post; I'm going to move onto other campaigns, like Curse of the Crimson Throne, Legacy of Fire, and Council of Thieves. Daisy Moonblossom was a very fun character, with her quotes like, "you would be happy if you thought less" and "I didn't think it would kill him; I only thought it would torture him forever!". She told me later that she didn't want to play a healer, she wanted to play a fighter, and so decided to be kind of a brat about it when it was decided by the group that it was "her turn". Everyone loved it anyway. So much so that the same player played her surly goth little sister, Belladonna, in Curse of the Crimson Throne, and the Moonblossom clan has been a recurring name drop in my games, and spawned multiple PCs and NPCs in the games run by @canwefixitnoitsfucked. Here's the original art for Daisy, done by one of the other players in that game:
Art © Heather F., accessed here
Because of the whole "don't really want to heal" thing, a warpriest was the perfect choice for converting Daisy from D&D 3.5 to Pathfinder 1e. The Icicle Crown was a personal addition to Rise of the Runelords. The art for Lamatar Bayden was so cool, it seemed a shame that he was just a wight (especially up against a 9th level party). So I gave him an artifact, and then Daisy got it, and she got to go from "magical girl inspired" to "full on transformation sequence". The original version used various spells from Spell Compendium, so has been updated for Pathfinder applicability.]
Daisy Moonblossom CR 14 CN Humanoid (cold, human) This woman is short, muscular and beautiful, her arms bearing delicate Varisian tattoos. She appears to be made of ice, with inhumanly pale skin and hair, with a crown of icicles growing out of her brow. She carries an enormous mace in the shape of a rose, and wears the holy symbol of Desna prominently around her neck and on her clothing.
Daisy Moonblossom was born lucky. Although never very smart and with a penchant for solving her problems with violence, she was both charming and perceptive, and was a natural to enter the priesthood of Desna. There, she received training as a warpriest, a traveling crusader to bring dreams and joy to those who needed them, and a pummeling to those who deserved it. And she was able to do all of those things, joining up with a team of adventurers to defend Sandpoint from first a goblin incursion, and then a ghoulish serial killer. Aldern Foxglove, the Skinsaw Man, became obsessed with Daisy. Perhaps this is because she reminded him of his murdered wife, or perhaps because he detected her bloodthirsty streak. Appropriately, she was the one who freed the revenant of his wife, and then bashed Foxglove’s skull in.
On Hook Mountain, Daisy made two discoveries that would change her life. First was the friendship of the star monarch Roramoru, who happily serves her as a mount and confidante to this day. The second was the Icicle Crown, a lost artifact made by the White Witches of Irrisen in centuries past, sitting on the brow of the wight Lamatar Bayden. Daisy didn’t realize its true magical potential when she put it on, thinking it would just protect her against the cold, but it transformed her into a being of elemental ice. As a divine caster, Daisy can use remove curse to take off the crown and resume her human appearance when she needs to, but does so less and less these days.
Rather than explore the dungeons of Runeforge and take the fight to Runelord Karzoug, Daisy chose to remain behind at Jorgenfist to learn more about her Varisian heritage and to help rally an army of giants against Karzoug’s influence. Daisy is considered by many of the giants of the Kodar Mountains to be somewhere between a guardian angel and a bogey, as she will gladly aid giants who play nice and slay those who don’t. The legends that have built around Ice Princess Daisy vary from clan to clan. Some giants claim she is an unusually beautiful cold rider, or maybe a miniature frost giant, or possibly a divine agent of Desna herself. Daisy is happy to keep them guessing.
Although she is a talented healer, Daisy Moonblossom would rather inflict damage than cure it. She usually spends a round or two casting enhancing spells on herself, then wades into melee. If enemies keep their distance, she pelts them with ranged spells cast from the Icicle Crown, or simply uses air walk to close the gap. Daisy isn’t a very skilled combat rider, so although she does use Roramoru’s support, the star monarch typically drops Daisy off rather than carry her into the fray.
Icicle Crown (minor artifact) When not worn by a creature (occupying the head slot), this appears to be a delicate silver tiara studded with diamonds and sapphires. When put on, it transforms into ice, and transforms the wearer as well, affecting her as per an ice body spell for as long as the crown is worn. The Icicle Crown allows the wearer to cast the following spells with charges, as if it were a staff: Snowball (1 charge) Frigid Touch (1 charge) Wall of Ice (2 charges) Cone of Cold (2 charges) Icy Prison (2 charges) The Icicle Crown has 10 charges, and regains 1d4 charges a day. If its last charge is expended, the Icicle Crown falls off of the wearer’s head and becomes dormant for 30 days. This is the only way to remove the Icicle Crown without the use of remove curse or a similar effect, or the death of its wearer. CL 13th; Weight 4 lbs.

"What materials do you recommend for spellcasting tools, Asova?"
There was hardly a clatter amongst the shelves as the shadows obscured the transition to magical artifacts. “Oh… runeweave, arcanacore, runeforge, arcana thistle, midi-chlorian enzyme, leybone… pretty much any material known to conduct magical energy!”

Then the soft ones, flowers for kallyne
you hand him the flowers and they wilt and die. he's apologizing now oh god it's so awkward sorry he's not used to dealing with the living anymore ah fuck now your hand's all wet ah geez
🌹 Where in the world does your OC feel most at home? Is there any reason why? If it’s not the place they were born, where were they born? Is there a certain somebody that makes them feel at home where ever they may be? What does home mean to them?
prior to his death, it was silvermoon. these days, it's the ebon hold. walking azeroth, interacting with the living denizens of the world, makes him feel wrong - but in acherus, it's just him and the other knights of the ebon blade, the others that are like him, his shitty little scourge family.
🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?
i don't know that he can feel happiness, being scourge, but he likes to watch the dragonhawks in the eversong woods. despite its proximity to the place that ended his life, there's something in watching the hatchlings learn to fly among the golden leaves and tall grass that makes him feel a little less frozen. in that vein, he always gets distracted when there are young animals around.
💐 How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?
well. he doesn't get sick and he doesn't feel pain, so outside of a healer stitching his limbs back together, he gets confused and frustrated if someone tries to give him more attention. conversely, he gets just as uncomfortable when left around someone who's sick or injured - his hands are meant to deal death, not prevent it. this isn't even just drama - death knights cannot heal at all.
🌺 What does your OC do to calm down when they’re scared or after a nightmare? Do they have any special comfort items or need to be reassured by a specific person? How do they handle this if they’re alone?
in life and in death, he's a soldier. he carries on. these days, there's not much that makes him feel fear, but he sometimes needs to power through feelings of being overwhelmed or panicked. he focuses on his hands in those cases, wielding his blades, keeping his body moving. honestly, it takes a well-trained eye to even notice when he's feeling this way
🌸 What are some of their favourite things and why? List as many as you can think of!
baby dragonhawks, his horse sin'danel, the act of runeforging, um. ....... . .. uh. also. ummmmmm. .... oh! swimming :)
🥀 How would your OC decorate a notebook or journal? What kind of things are written in there? Could you give an example of a nice entry?
there's no decoration. there wouldn't be even when he was alive. it's a journal, but it reads more like a fucking. captain's log or something. itemized schedules and then maybe a personal opinion on a person or something that happened that day and it's all painfully organized kjdjf
🌼 Who are this characters friends and found family? How did they meet, how long have they been friends for, could they ever be something more than just friends? What do they look for in a friend or a romantic partner?
he doesn't think he has friends but in reality he has Huntmaster Jeshae Silverwind, the mage Noraelin Sunsworn, and even Highlord Nydie Mograine, who are all people he's worked with at length and who do, in fact, care about him. moreover, he has the knights of the ebon blade - Darion especially.
he doesn't Look for partners, but he has proven on more than once occasion to be very susceptible to people coming on to him (the Tian Situation). in any case, he's just sort of vibing (sadly) (he wants to die) and lets people move around him as they will

Magic And How It Works
I have for some time been planning on how to write out magic for my world. I knew I wanted at least three forms: One that works with the flow of magic, one that brute forces magic and one where it is borrowed from another being. Yesterday I felt the inspiration hit me, so I began typing away and created the lore below for my world.
Intro
Magic, an essence that flows throughout the world, attracted to focal points of power. It manifests itself in a myriad of forms, each with its own unique characteristics and wielders, though no matter the form it takes, it is the same magical essence at its core. It exists within each person and within nature itself, but for some it flows stronger than others. These are the people who is considered to have a natural affinity for manipulating magic and are often those who take it upon themselves to become mages, the universal term for those who can manipulate magic. Below are the four ways that are used to control magic, with every mage falling into one of them. Though each have associated elements they excel at, a skilled mage is not limited to only those.
Primal
To work with the world, so as to request its assistance. Primal magic is the ancient art of tapping into the raw energies of the natural world and it is seen as a harmonious communion with the elemental forces that shapes reality, by those who use it. It draws its strength from the surroundings and the attunement of the user to the world around them, but it is fickle and has a will of its own. Practitioners Shamans, druids, tribal elders Characteristics Connection with the world and nature, communion with spirits, rituals and ceremonies Examples Healing rituals, elemental manipulation, nature-based divination, spirit communication
Runeform
To force the flow, so that it obeys. Known also as runeforging, being runebound and runecrafted sorcery, runeform Is the art of magic mastered by wizards, battle mages and most mages that have been educated in imperial magic academies as is mandatory within the Ni'rral Empire. It relies on incantations, symbols and precise gestures to wield it and often uses focuses to bind the magic to a user, who often has one or more objcts that stores it. Unlike primal magic, it is often associated with scholarly pursuits and urban sophistication despite its forceful ways to make magic obey the users. Practitioners Wizards, scholars, battlemages, urban mages Characteristics Ancient tomes, intricate rituals, runes and symbols, manipulation through focus objects Examples Enchantments, potion-making, combat magic, necromancy
Pact
To be lended power, from those who command it. Pact Magic encompasses every other type of magic, as they are granted through pacts with other beings. These can range from the devout worshippers of the gods to deals with beings of the underworld and even other powerful mages. A being can lend magic to another as long as they are sufficiently powerful with it themselves. This allows practitioners of pact magic to harness powers beyond their own and even at times access magic that neither primal or urban practitioners can reach, but often there is a price to be taken for wielding what is beyond themselves. Practitioners Priests, warlocks, those desperate for power but without magic Characteristics Invocation of higher powers, fulfillment of pacts and oaths, mysterious masters, power at a price Examples Miracles, curses, summoning, transformation
Inherent
When the flow of magic is within, it comes as second nature. Inherent magic is the power possessed by extraordinary beings, such as dragons and other magical creatures. Unlike other forms of magic that must be learned or acquired, inherent magic flows naturally within these beings, manifesting in their very essence and for this very reason, it is out of reach for those who are not these beings, except for the fragments they can gain through pact magic. Practitioners Dragons, magical beasts, spirits, deities Characteristics Natural manifestation of magical abilities, unique powers tied to species and lineage Examples Elemental manipulation, otherworldly abilities, shape-shifting

Hey all, I'm new here. Just want to say hello and post about something I've been working on. I have been planning and writing for a few days now about my idea. It's a game I've decided to call "Runeforged" and here's some (not very well written) lore.
Your world was at constant risk of war. The Vikings may all live peacefully within their own villages, but treat other villages as savages despite their shared beliefs. The gods became very angered at the lack of civil behavior between distant tribes, and Odin placed himself in charge of returning order to the world. For decades now, the earthrealm has been put under the watch of The Elementals, a vast and seemingly endless army of ghastly constructs. Physical weapons seemingly phase through their very essence effortlessly. This doesn't seem to matter though, as they are only there to monitor the citizens and ensure peace is maintained.
6 years before your quest begins, something goes terribly wrong. Despite constant overwatch, a group of rebels managed to lurk in the shadows long enough to fester into a disease the world could not see coming. After years of collecting immense amounts of energy and playing dice with the elements, these foolish criminals unleash a plague of madness throughout the world, causing every living thing to act in hostility towards one another. Simultaneously, they cut off all contact between Earthrealm and the realm in which Odin resides. The constructs begin to act without order, following their previous instructions to kill anyone who attempts to disrupt peace.
A message has finally come through, and it is now time for you to leave home. After 6 years in total darkness, the population of the world has declined to only 1/6th of what it was previously. Mass murder, starvation, and war has ravaged the surface of the planet, making it an almost unrecognizable hellscape beyond the walls of your fort.
Alongside this information, Odin places within you the intuition to search for knowledge. Many of the gods used to roam the surface of Earthrealm, and left behind runes engraved in stone to act as a link between the world of living and the infinite energy of the gods. These runes can be engraved or painted onto almost any surface to imbue it with said energy. As the message fades away, the hairs all over your body begin to stand. Odin finishes his message to you with this:
"Atop the tallest mountain in the furthest of lands, only one lone smith with the knowledge of the Runeforged will find a tower that has been carved into a conduit capable of unleashing the infinite fury of the gods onto the world, allowing one with intentions pure to restore peace and order to the Earthrealm you call home"

Hi I saw your pot about erlang being boring and that you thought horus was the most boring and yet I raise you: me as Auto Attack Horus running around in the jungle carefree, wind in my feathers, 100% #Girlboss Energy
you absolute mad lad. that’s king shit, but i cannot see the fun in that 💔 i did specifically say in that post that i really dislike playing auto attack gods and that extends to building aa on any god. imo support horus is infinitely more fun than any kind of erlang shen or aa horus.
#literally the only aa god i like is sol because i have terminal sun goddes brain rot#otherwise? bruiser horus with runeforged and hydra’s sounds more entertaining that that#ive tried aa horus in solo lane and its way more boring than normal horus#but im literally just biased against auto attacking aldhdkd#this is a No Holding Down R2/LMB Zone#alys.txt#than that**** i cant spell and im not erasing all these tags to correct that akdhdk
