RF1: Year 1 - Summer 2
Tumblr media
Ah, the Chimera. This boss gave me such a hard time as a kid. This time, though, I didn't have much trouble at all!
Just like last time, Zavier has some eerie words to share with Raguna before he gets out of there:
"That thing is lethal! This is as far as I go! One should always know when it’s time to quit, Raguna. Don’t forget that!"
Again, I love the tension thrown into this game. This is a dangerous situation, but as the player, I know that Raguna is the only one who can do this, so we must persevere!
In the scene that comes after defeating the Chimera, however, I can't help but feel a bit bad for Zavier. Mist scolds him for "not being any help", but honestly, I'd be afraid for Zavier's life! He knew the Chimera was way stronger than his treasure-hunter abilities so he got out of there. He even tells Mist that he tried to warn Raguna, but he just "didn't flee fast enough". Despite his rivalry for Mist's love, he seemed genuinely concerned for Raguna and even checked to make sure he was ok!
Veering the discussion back to Raguna, Mist also mentions that Raguna "fights with a certain noble flair". I wonder what that looks like? I interpret that he has good form, especially with one-handed swords (taken from my experience of experimenting with other weapons).
Overall, Toros Cave was very fitting for today's row because Raguna spent ALL day in it. He woke up in the cave, took on the boss, and then spent the rest of the day chopping ALL the wood there. By the end of the day, he had half the amount of wood needed to upgrade his house!

Porky
Viridi: Is that Porky Minch? IS THAT PORKY MINCH?! Pit: Woah, Viridi?! Viridi: IT IS! PALUTENA, THAT'S PORKY MINCH! Palutena: Y-Yes, it is. Viridi, are you- Viridi: PIT! THIS IS VIRIDI SPEAKING! KILL HIM! LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND! Pit: Wait, what?! What's gotten into you, Viridi?! Viridi: What's gotten into me is that THAT man... Ooh, THAT MAN! Palutena: Erm, well, Pit, let's start with saying that Porky was once Ness's childhood friend and next-door neighbor. Out of sheer cruelty in his heart, he decided to join with Giygas, who was intending to invade Ness's world with the Starmen. He then escaped into- Viridi: HE INVADED THE TAZMILY ISLANDS AND CONVERTED THEM INTO A HORRIBLE CAPITALISTIC HELLSCAPE! HE CORRUPTED THE WILDLIFE INTO HALF-METAL ABOMINATIONS KNOWN AS CHIMERAS! HE WAS INTENDING TO ANNIHILATE THE WORLD BY PULLING ALL SEVEN PINS! HE IS PERSONA NON GRATA AND YOU WILL ANNIHILATE HIM! Pit: Huh. Well, when you put it that way... Palutena: Before you kill him, just be aware of the Mecha-Porkys he can throw out. They're unintelligent, but they're still dangerous due to being primed to explode upon defeat.
Lest/Frey
Pit: Huh... They're kinda pretty. Palutena (If Lest): That's Lest, an Earthmate who lost his memories after crashing to the ground. Why? Got a crush on him? Palutena (If Frey): That's Frey, an Earthmate who lost her memories after landing on Ventuswill. Why? She catch your eye? Pit: N-No! Just... Making an observation! Palutena: Well, after losing his/her memory, Lest/Frey became the prince/princess of Selphia by decree of Ventuswill and the actual prince, Arthur D. Lawrence. Viridi: Bah! Court politics. Palutena: You'll like this, Viridi - as an Earthmate, Lest/Frey can talk to animals. Viridi: ...Animals, you say? Pit: So, um... Any tips on fighting them? Palutena (If Lest): Well, you might want to watch out for his Penetrate Sonic. Three wind blades will bounce around the stage, making him all the more unpredictable in a fight. But maybe that's a charm point for you? Paluetna (If Frey): Well, you might want to watch out for her Avenger Rock. It's a powerful spike of rock without much range but a lot of power. But maybe getting hit like that works on you...? Pit: Kn-Knock it off!

Day 586
When @wereah and I tell each other we have the same brain rot, it’s not necessarily about liking the same things. In fact there are times where our preferences in tropes and media are very different.
When we say, we have the same brain rot it means our general interests align up often enough that we tend to share the same thought processes when it comes to our hobbies and media. This was the reason why when we did written roleplays we had a lot of fun because we tended to just vibe off of each other a lot.
I point this out because I realized that without prompting, asking or even giving it a second thought I have watched the first season of Heaven’s Official Blessing with Were-Ah in a way that delights them and would have annoyed everyone else. That is, we paused a lot.
In fact, by the third episode, we already had come up with a term for it by telling the other to “put a pin in it”. Let me be clear, I don’t normally watch shows like that. It was not how I was raised and I’m well aware it would annoy anyone else.
I’m also well aware that most people don’t talk about the things that Were-Ah and I like to talk about. We both seem to lean towards the technical side of things when discussing media. We are the same people who once debated back and forth on the priority coding for the dialogue in Rune Factory 4, and watched Monarch’s 2.0 debut of her new vtuber avatar to discuss how it was put together.
Which is probably why we ended up working on Chimera Academy together, and have done so for as long as we have. Chimera Academy is the ultimate, let’s have long conversations about the technical aspects of our storytelling behind the scenes.
Because we both have the same brain rot.

Cute Monsters! *:・゚✧
Just some of my favorite Monsters from Rune Factory and the Tales of Series!
The first one is my lovley Mammoo from Rune Factory. He is very sweet and i can ride on his back like the god i am.
The second and third are Monsters out of the Tales of Series. The little bird found a phoenix feather and is gifting the prism bird with it. Same with the chimera giving the caterpillar a heart shaped item. ♡

New game idea: “world of Alchimeras”
Hello guys, sorry for the long hiatus, needed some time to get my life straight and had some problems to post anything, so here I am and let's get to talk about it:  So, I had once a dream, of a game which felt like, if you fused together rune factory, pokemon, and full metal alchemist. But that's the rough idea of the game. The main mechanic of the game, and the main topic of this post: is the “creation of Alchimeras” These alchimeras, are creatures created by alchemists, in this game's world, which are made out of a special orb and any kind of object or material you find. These materials needed in creation of alchimeras can be anything from wood, stones or anything what you find in nature, to anything found in a shop or house: tools, machine parts or even small machines. The simplest alchimeras just need two objects to be created, with a low-class orb. The more advanced need 3 or more, need more expensive orbs and more complex alchimera circle, kinda like those in FMA.  So, these are the aforementioned alchimeras. Those can vary from animals, golem likes or just abstract beings like the gear wisp and kitchen knife knight.  There are three types of alchimeras: Zoochimeras, which are animals or animal-like creatures (in this category fit the: Hedgehound, Firefly bat, sickle mantis and pebble rattler)  Terrachimeras, which are beings made out of natural objects or just created out of “non-living natural material” (in this category fits the undead golem and claystone golem)  Xemochimeras, which are beings created out of abstract objects or just manufactured and changed material, machine types fit here too (in this category fit gear wisp and kitchen knife knight)
Tumblr media
These alchimeras were made in Simple rank and advanced rank transmutation circles, these circles are the main part of creating an alchimera, the foundation of this strange science of creature creation.  These circles are just drawn on the floor of your house, but its suggested to elevate it on a platform. They are drawn with chalk.  Different kinds of transmutation circles affect what kind of alchimera you get and what abilities it will have. Certain kinds might increase the chance of getting a certain kind of alchimera, other make you easier to choose the right mix of “personality” of the alchimera, yes these alchimeras do have their own personalities, but preety simple ones.
Tumblr media
The Symetra Alpha circle is the first circle you start with, it doesn't have any modifiers for your alchimeras, but at least is the most stable transmutation circle. This one helps you to create one of your starter alchimeras, which wouldn't be your master creations but will be still useful when starting out as a freelancer alchemist, on your small farm/estate. The Reflexio Omega circle is a more complex but unstable transmutation circle of the 2mark series (the mark represents how many materials will be used in this kind of circle). This circle is mainly used if you want to experiment with materials or just if you want more special kinds of alchimeras, with more chaotic personalities and skills.  I will talk about personalities and skills next time. I am done for today.  So please reblog, follow or just leave a comment on this post. Please, i wanna share this idea to other people.

Raven from Rune Factory 3?
Tumblr media
Raven has a Ryu Number of 5*.
(explanation below)
Rune Factory doesn't seem to have much in terms of crossovers or cameos with other IPs, but like other RPGs it's more than happy to nick a mythical entity or two for its monsters. The route above through Asmodeus is largely a result of it seeming to be the most justifiable link.
There are two others of note I've found. The first is that a Minotaur known as Asterius seems to be have appeared in at least a few Rune Factory games, but given the presence of multiple Minotaurs and a different Minotaur King(?), it's very dodgy to assert it's the singular Minotaur of Greek myth.
Tumblr media
The second is the Chimera. While it seems to be a recurring boss/mini-boss, there seem to be vague allusions to it not being unique, and at the very least you're able to tame it while, presumably, it still spawns for item drops, so it's maybe not a identifiably unique individual.
Tumblr media
Still, it's on marginally better grounds than Asterius, and I've used a dodgy Chimera before, so.

Rune Factory 4 Upgrade Materials
I'm not sure how many people still play Rune Factory 4, but here's the best upgrade materials for armor and such. I'll explain why after the list. Shield: Blue Core, Yellow Core, Red Core, Green Core, Right Rock Shard, 10-Fold Steel, Left Rock Shard, Object X, and Mealy Apple. Armor: Blue Core, Yellow Core, Red Core, Green Core, Big White Crystal, Double Steel, Left Rock Shard, 10-Fold Steel, and Ancient Orc Cloth. Headgear: Blue Core, Yellow Core, Red Core, Green Core, Big Blue Crystal, Double Steel, Object X, Mealy Apple, and Mealy Apple. Shoes: Blue Core, Yellow Core, Red Core, Green Core, Big Red Crystal, Double Steel, Cursed Doll, Object X, and Mealy Apple. Accessory: Blue Core, Yellow Core, Red Core, Green Core, Big Green Crystal, Double Steel, Object X, Mealy Apple, and Mealy Apple. This might sound like a weird combination for the Weapon, but it has gotten the most Attack Points for me: 4-Leaf Clover, Golden Tyrant Turnip, Icy Nose, Dangerous Scissors, Chimera Tail, Chimera Tail, 10-Fold Steel, Tablet Of Truth, and Rare Can. Now for why these combos work. The Colored Core combination, in that order, give you 10% No Res, which is elemental resistance. Fire(Red), Water(Blue), Earth(Yellow), and Wind(Green) resistance. Object X reverses the effect of the next used item. Using an Object X followed by a Mealy Apple gives you at least: 10% Water Resistance, 10% Fire Resistance, 10% Earth Resistance, 10% Wind Resistance, 10% Light Resistance, and 10% Dark Resistance, along with STR (Strength) +100, VIT (Vitality) +150, and INT (Intelligence) +100. The rest of the items are self-explanatory and you can look them up in the item description. As for the Weapon... I was just messing around with combinations and couldn't get a better one than that. It's weird. If you want one to win the Handicraft Festival, use this combination: Chimera Tail, Chimera Tail, Chimera Tail, Broken Ice Wall, Broken Ice Wall, Icy Nose, Icy Nose, Chimera Tail, and Chimera Tail. I upgraded a weapon with Rune Sphere Shards that you can only get from Ragnarok in Sharance Maze and I still couldn't win with anything but that combination listed above. Hope this helps.

Greek Mythology and Rune Factory
The Rune Factory games had a huge impact on my life and had an element of mythology that made me see it in everyday life. The impact of mythology was easy to see after reading about Greek mythology in middle school and World Mythology. Each character from Rune Factory represents a character of Greek Mythology: the gods, the heroes, and the creatures.
The Rune Factory game is about an amnesiac farmer, who must save the day from the Sech Empire. Each time you play he can find love, befriend the villagers, and make a life for himself. You level up your character by taking on dungeons and battling boss characters. Your character meets a young girl, Mist, who saves his life by giving him water and bread. She proceeds to give him a hoe, water can, and a farm to make a living. It is there that, after special requirements are met, the player can start going into dungeons. The gamer can find the mysterious machines in the dungeons and takes on Terrible, the earth dragon god. Along the way, the character gains fame in the nearby town as he takes on the dungeons and takes on creatures such as the game’s own version of Chimera. It is also heavily suggested that your character is the prince of Kardia, the central kingdom of the game’s world.
Raguna, the character’s default name, is obviously the stereo type of hero seen in many of the myths. Raguna goes on a trip and finds his way home and a family which he promises to come back to. He also finds a calling, fights monsters, and saves the day. Raguna is the epitome of the hero stereotype. Raguna comes from an unknown background, which is heavily hinted to be one of the princes of Kardia, at in the end but has no proof that it is the truth. Raguna has the “earthmate air” around him as Mist will often point. Earthmate is the equivalent of an actual hero in the game as they are known to speak to the earth and tame monsters. Earthmates in the same sense of regards to mythology can be equal to nymphs. They both are keyed into nature.
Mist is seen as Athena in world mythology. She, like Athena does for Odysseus, guides Raguna through the game. She starts by teaching Raguna how to farm and fight. She would give Raguna advise but would never fight the main bosses beside him much like Athena not fighting the suitors alongside Odysseus. Athena seems to favor Odysseus and Mist favors Raguna. Mist demonstrates some of the main characteristics of Athena. Mist has a strange knowledge about the magic and situations of the land and weapon expertise. Mist gives the main character his first spell, his first weapon which is his hoe, and an explanation of the first dungeon. Overall, she shows a great example of the idea of Athena in a character.
Rosetta could be Artemis because she, like Artemis, is seen as a tomboy in their time era. This game is based on the medieval times where women are to be seen and not heard. They are bargain chips for political power or greater wealth through marriage. Rosetta is very outgoing and loud letting her opinion be heard. She practically runs the shop her father owns. Lukas, even though in love with her, hates to make her mad and will run off before she takes her temper out on him. Artemis is known for her cold nature and killing others for not properly respecting her or her mother. She is very commanding and seems to be a true ruler. She and Rosetta can get their fathers to bend to their will. Artemis got her father to promise that  he would not force her to marry and Rosetta took over her father’s general shop.
Mei is also another Artemis character. She is Aphrodite as well due to her young and youthful appearance. Mei is a tough and cruel girl who has a youthful experience that deceives the player at first. She is of unknown age, but it is said that she might be hundreds of years old. She shows the part of Aphrodite who is beautiful and ageless. Mei perhaps, however, represents Artemis the best. She hates everyone especially men as she finds men to be the ruin of the world. She loves to fish which is a form of hunting. Mei loves to be left alone and not be bothered much like Artemis prefers the company of the night. Artemis is also known for her beauty, again just like Mei. Mei is known for being strange and Artemis is often represented as strange due to her heritage and attitude towards others. She is the most like Artemis out of the group as she shows a hate of men, a love for the hunt, and a need to be alone. She also is the second hardest girl to marry in the game as she only wants the rarest and hardest catch fish to be proposed to, making the actual marriage almost impossible.
Raguna represents a feminist hero like Perseus. Raguna wears sandals and has the ornaments most seen on female characters of the game. He has a charm on his head like Mist and Sharron both, who are females. He represents the feminist type of hero greatly due to these outer characteristics alone. Raguna takes help from female characters that has been shown to be a more of a feminist hero action.. Raguna also gets help with each dungeon from the females. Mist, the main heroine, is the female to help him the most,  but Raguna did get help from Sharron, a mysterious woman who meets Raguna at the Ruins dungeon. Raguna helps represent the Greek stereotype feminist hero. He is not afraid to ask for help and accept help from females. Raguna helps bring out the Greek mythology themes just like the artwork does.
The artwork of the game itself shows many themes of Greek styling. The buildings of the ruins show statues like Hestia as it seems to be a woman hunched over tending a fire in some parts of the ruins. They also include creatures similar or an exact replica of the monsters heroes would take on in epic quests. One is that is an exact replica from Greek Mythology is the Chimera. It showed an inclination towards blood lust and would often kill Raguna off if you did not have the character up to level twenty or higher showing the fierceness of the monster. Raguna had to take on similar monsters. They even had their own Trojan horse. The game itself incorporated many of the myths’ types and even brought out some of the more harsh and common problems.
The game harbored on the realistic side of things as Raguna could not do anything for the next dungeon nor could he do anything for his farm without making money. He had to meet certain expectations as well before he could move from one dungeon to the next besides beating the main boss of said dungeon. If we are to continue thinking through the path of the game being related to Greek mythology, it could show the hardships of the people who too had to live through those times. Raguna had to make ends meet and could not just go on quest after quest. He would always have to find a way to make money showing how the Greeks most likely had to do the same to afford all their battling and exploring. It helps us understand their predicament better. Rune Factory gave us a realistic Greek feel of what it would have been like in the past.
Rune Factory games all had their own major gods. In this game there is one called Terrible. Terrible is a great presentation of both Gaia and Cronus. Cronus is the titan of time and Terrible enhances time in the game as he will make time stop before he cracks out of his old shell of his former self. He is Gaia due to bringing about green pastures and controlling the ground itself. However, Terrible is also one of the easiest dragon gods to beat. He and the other dragon gods you have to beat in the games are based on my theory the four events that took place to give room for the Greek gods. Terrible is representing Uranus and Gaia as Gaia becomes angry due to Uranus throwing their children into Tarturus that same as the Sech Republic trying to take over Kardia and burn it to “hell.” Terribl,e while not having children did, have control of flowers and all of nature which in turn could be seen as its children to which Terrible uses to stop the Sechs. This is a prime example of the Greek myths being used.
Rune Factory is the example I have provided of mythology due to its blatant use of Greek mythology references, styles, and symbols. It was easy to see with Raguna being the stereotypical hero figure and Mist being Athena as she interacts with Odysseus. Each character has the stereo type of the Greek gods and some are more heavily influenced and apparent than others. The game brings out the ideas of Greek Mythology and gave us a realistic interpretation of the life of Greeks in the Greek mythology era.

Winter 06, year 1, of the Rune Factory QuarenReplay;
Toros Cave has been cleared, as of 4pm that evening, at lvl 21!
Winter 03:
It's a snowy day on Winter 03, so Leo the blacksmith won't be there to sell me new weapons OR give me the game's intended mining hammer. Rude. All these weather dependent sales persons-- [tiny town, makes sense that they can be that carefree, but like. C'monnnnn.]
At least Tabatha gave me the taming glove, and Godwin the pass to Toros.
I am deathly low on money for the first time after my spelunking purchases (medicines and foods that have yet to run out), hah. I grabbed some sweet potato seeds for this dungeon, as a tiny money maker as I go along during winter.
Entered Toros for the first time at 10:30am.
Immediate thought; I always loved this friggin music, it sounds perfect for a hellscape, perfect for the plot point that leads into the more intense and crazy Clemens music.
Winter 04:
Talked to Russell and saw two new spell books; Fireball and Medication. Once I get money, I’m prioritizing Medication.
Winter 05:
We have acquired Veknr!
Tumblr media
Got the actual mining hammer from Leo. Gave him Iron Ore and money. Will pick up improved hammer on Winter 08, since 07 is a holiday GODDAMMIT. I am not a genius.
Felicity has given us the monster brush, so Veknr can become our friend. And also inspired a few drawing ideas while she was at it.
Ran through the dungeon. Cleared it to the boss room, then left. Slashed branches, plowed (hopefully) enough places to get me into later places.
Winter 06:
Festival? Sweet! Got chocolate from various people in the morning. Rosetta, Felicity, Lara, and Bianca. But not Mist. HAH.
More level grinding. Used up all my RP and HP before 3pm.
Went to Melody’s to refresh. Full health. Full RP. Boss time.
Discovered I’m actually not able to bring Veknr in with me to fight the Chimera! Huh. I didn’t remember that. Go home and chill, Silver Wolf dude.
Despite Zavier’s concerns, the first attempt at the boss was a success!
There were many giggles had at the Chimera's greater mobility. A few silly jumpscares when I ran to the edge of the arena, charged up my sword, and then had to go find the dang thing because it decided not to walk toward me. A few gasps of "OH THERE" and "WAIT" when I got zapped by a water laser or pounced on. A funny moment of "LEMME RUN TO THIS CORNER AND EAT MY SALAD." But I prevailed.
I may actually be on pace to get to Misty Bloom before winter ends - the limiting factor is going to be how I have to buy my own weapons as of right now, given that I have neither the lumber nor money to upgrade my home. Here's hoping the upgraded hammer from Leo will let me exploit the broken Sapphire market that Toros has now opened me to--
Onto day 7.
