      Fox hummed to herself as she walked the edge of the forest. The day was sunny after a week of endless rains and she was happy to be out once more, collecting flowers and the small berries that grew just past the treeline. The basket she carried was half-full by the time she ventured a little deeper, ever careful to stay within yelling distance should something happen. One could not be too sure with Red Coats roaming, even this close to the castle.

      She was knelt, her skirts splayed out around her, examining mushrooms when she saw him. A stranger in the woods. A man. Though he was not dressed in the red coat of her enemies, he was neither dressed like those that she knew.

      “Stop,” she commanded when he ventured to near, unsure he had yet seen her. “Do you know who’s woods you walk through? Name yourself. Are you here to cause harm? If so, it would be much wiser for you to turn and go. Otherwise--” she was wishing then that she had more than a small knife on her to cut away dead branches. “Otherwise, I’ll...I’ll scream.”

Helheim was always a place of returning; The living return for the loves they have lost and those that worship her came to find their reverance returned in kind. And so it should not have surprised her to hear from the beaks of scavenger birds that Magni was making the journey to her keep. Nevertheless, she was surprised. Surprised and delighted.

She found Ganglöt - her maidservant  - easily. Never far from the Queen she raised since a child. Hel requested food for him, and blankets. New life breathed into his lungs, the cold would hit him hard. Only the dead and the frost giants thrive in the unforgiving cold of her underworld. Ganglöt ducked away and Hel sent for Ganglati - Ganglöt’s twin brother - to set the beacon fires. Losing one’s way in Helheim was not smart for one so recently returned.

Éljúðnir was alive. In a sense. Warm with fires borrowed from Muspelheim and smelling of cooked meats and stew. Hel waits for him patiently in a room beyond the foyer. Before her, a feast worthy of her station but admittedly overabundant for a meeting of two.

Hearing the heavy doors of her hall open she sits up quickly and stands. She is excited. Always heartened by the coming of friends. Only sincere hearts would traverse the world of death for conversation. She hopes it is only for conversation.

“Magni,” she breaths as her eyes find him, a fond smile on her pale lips. She is pleased to see him. And it shows, “I did not expect to see you so soon.”

Pain echoed throughout Signe's body. The deed was done, Alduin was dead — or at least she thought he was. The Dovahkiin had not absorbed his soul but perhaps Akatosh took it before she could for fear of what it would do to her. The souls already swirling within her body have started to change the young woman. Perhaps the soul of the World Eater would have been too much for her body to handle.

Either way she wanted to go home to see papa and Lena. Blood clouded the vision in her left eye and she prayed to all the Aedra that she hadn't totally lost sight in it. Tsun was speaking to her but she could only half hear him. Her strength was failing her and it would be a miracle if she could make it to a safe place once back in Nirn to sleep for a little while. 'When you are ready to rejoin the living, just bid me so, and I will send you back.' Those words caught her attention though. "I'm more than ready, please send me back."

The God was using a Thu'um to send her back it seemed. Nahl Daal Vus. It hurt worse that she thought it would, there was a pulling feeling in her stomach like she was going one way and then was pulled in another, followed by a dizzying sensation. Suddenly her feet met ground and she stumbled, falling to one knee and letting out a hiss of pain. "Ruth wah nivahriin tsun. That was not a soft landing." It took only a moment for her to realize she was not in Skuldafn Temple like she'd expected to come back to. Was this a — dwemer ruin? "It would be my luck that I end up in a dwemer ruin after a fight like that."

She tried to rise back to her feet but pain shot through her chest and she fell back to her knees with a cry of pain. "Shit," she cursed while trying to catch her breath she definitely had at least one broken rib. Probably from the blow by Alduins tail. Shifting around she turned enough to look behind her and stopped. A — man? No, his stature was shorter than a human man, but wasn't built like a Mer. He didn't resemble any race she'd encountered in Nirn. Had Tsun sent her further than she realized? "Ah — if you're a bandit I assure you even this state it is not a good idea to attack me. If you're not though, perhaps you might lend me a hand? I'm a bit more wounded than I originally thought."

IT WAS NEVER EASY. the thought that one day SONUR && DOTTIR would grow up just as quickly as time. small shaped hands grabbing at their father's. his own wrapped around his hel's. bouncing her up , and down lightly in his arms.

he felt her kicking against his torso. her excitement of having a stranger visit them easily visible to loki.

". what have you , vanir ?? " he asks. his smile only brought into a slow frown by this man's words. the conversation starting with a grand reminder that life was without reason , and cause , and sometimes even without joy. the ease , and the stress settling into father's sight. his heart - beat dancing. he could feel the anger boiling as well. like , thunder dancing in a rain shower.

". it's not for younger ears , earth - shaker , vän . " the god spoke quietly , unable to share with Loki's children. though in truth more than he could believe. as he wished for them to not know of their fate. it would appear as if what he told the green eyed serpent were destined to repeat , in the future , at the eave of his children's fates.

" you're made to tell me this , profet ?? " he spites , his anger plaguing his expression , " of what trials do my offspring owe ?? why let them be damned for future prophecy ?? " he inquired. his eyebrows scrunched. his pain clearly illuminating his dire new stare.

      The trip thus far had been uneventful. Fox had spent most of the time eavesdropping on locals as her classmates drank beer at every pub along the way. It wasn’t that it wasn’t fun, for it was different and exciting, but she had signed up for the history and the architecture, not a hangover. On this particular evening, she found herself wandering the halls of an establishment that was once a laird’s homestead, a castle, that now treated them to themed dinners and pint after pint of original recipe whisky.

      Following a particular dark corridor, Fox found a window that illuminated the full moon. A strange occurrence considering it was still a few days off. The winds were changing, picking up from the highlands and she swore she could hear horses. She turned back, wanting to reach the yard to see if there were indeed horses and found that once dark hall now held torches. Strange. A chill ran through her. Places like this were said to be haunted.

      Following the path she thought she had taken, Fox tried to find the main room once more. When she did, or when she thought she did, she found it empty. Nearly frantic, she picked up the pace, nearly jogging until she saw another person, sure that her classmates were only playing a trick. It did not take long to find someone, obviously an actor of the restaurant considering how he was dressed. Perhaps they did some sort of play? Or reenactment?

      “Excuse me,” she was happy now that she had studied enough English to get by when lost. “Do you know the way back to the restaurant? I seem to have lost my way.”

[Pilotredsky] "The Scuffler EP" : Wow, I can't believe that this EP still sounds awesome like the third day in a row. [Zock] "Blackbird" : Found this earlier, and it made me wanna check out the artist more. "Hollywood Days" : Very pleasant and easy listening for work, a bit in the smooth/lite-jazz territory. [Bobbing] "Thank You for Singing to Me" : Fantastic and super tight EP that kicks ass from beginning to end. [Moon Hooch] "Acid Mountain" : Wait, this is just a single?! [Wardruna] "Runaljod - gap var Ginnunga" : I've been listening to many of these songs out of order for years now, but hearing them all play out in sequence properly makes the experience even more affecting. [Paul Simon] "Graceland" : Great music, but just not the right pick for when I was listening, so I'll have to return to this at some point. [Glasys] "Defective Humanity" : I still think that "The Pressure" EP is a tighter project overall, but as a development thereof "Defective Humanity" has tons to offer, and explores a broader gamut of interpretation on it's themes. [PJ Harvey] "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" : I'll have to check out more by the artist, because I'm super down with the vocal performance, which is excellently complimented by the instrumental. [Evan Marian] "Parallels" : My lovely partner gave me a better set of earbuds to use at work, and hearing a much fuller juicier bass tone on an album I already really love was a crazy treat. [Talking Heads] "Remain in Light" : I don't know why I had such a bias against Talking Heads, but despite my best efforts to the contrary I did in fact enjoy the album quite a bit. [August Burns Red] "Guardians" : Metal is still something I'm learning how to listen to properly, but I love the tones that this group gets, and it's no wonder this is one of the first groups I stumbled across.

You die, hand outstretched towards the sky as if to say, "i'm not done yet." There are so many things you still have to do, so many goals you still have to reach. You've spent your entire life working towards them, and doing nothing else, only to die before knowing what accomplishment feels like. They'll say your death was a pity, that you had such a bright future ahead of you. It is one you'll never get to see.
