Asahina Mafuyu "Super Exciting Three-Legged Race?" 3* Card Story Summary
Upload of Official English Translation Submitted anonymously
Event: Run! Sports Festival! Committee Rush!
Part 1: At school, Mafuyu walks in on her classmates reminiscing over the sports festival. They show her a photo of Mafuyu during her three-legged race with Emu and remark how Emu was very impressive in planning the events. Mafuyu agrees and leaves for a student council meeting.
In the hallway, Mafuyu hears Emu singing to herself while walking down the halls. Mafuyu greets her with her usual smile. Emu starts responding normally but cuts herself off in a shuddering gasp when she realizes it's Mafuyu. Emu becomes shaky and awkward trying to make conversation. Mafuyu reflects on how first years from her archery club idolize her, but Emu acts differently.
Mafuyu asks Emu if there's something on her face, since Emu is staring so hard. Emu cracks a joke about how Mafuyu has eyes and a nose and a mouth on her face, and that makes Mafuyu laugh slightly with what Emu registers as a real smile.
Mafuyu thanks Emu for her work on the festival; she enjoyed it a lot. Unexpectedly, the memory of them racing together pops into her mind, but she doesn't know why. Emu tells Mafuyu she's actually smiling now, unlike some other times. Emu really liked seeing Mafuyu smile at the sports festival! Emu then runs off. Mafuyu thinks her a strange girl.
Part 2: Yuki turns in a draft of lyrics to K who approves them. Amia uses the opportunity to suggest a break as they've been wanting to ask Yuki how the sports festival went. Her experience may make a good reference for a school-themed MV one day, since unlike Amia, Yuki actually goes to school. Yuki shares that she did the three-legged race and the relay, which Enanan says is pretty standard stuff. That makes Yuki think about her race with Emu. She tells the chat about the very strange first-year who would go pale or squeak whenever she looked at her. Her reactions are a new experience for Yuki. Amia says the girl sounds tense but Enanan says she sounds scared of her, and either way Yuki doesn't mind. It's possible Otori sees her as more than a goody-two shoes.
K, who has been listening this whole time, chimes in that even though Amia is asking about the festival, Yuki seems to want to talk about this girl. Maybe there's something special about her. Yuki says not to read too much into it, but admits there might be something.

BEEEE OMYGAD, i want you to rate this girk, her name is luka ikaruga! Just search it up on google, i think she's really 🥰😍!!
As for the daily question, whats a prosekai card that gives you the ick? I think mine would be this one https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/projectsekai/images/7/7f/I%27ll_Always_Be_Here_to_Give_Advice_T.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20230520030047
Its just so.. plain and the outfit itself is also plain, the untrained looks cool ngl but the trained is kinda disappointing, emu shouldve been the 4 star since her outfit looked cute, im also disappointed that they didnt show kaito's grippers☹️
-daily! Anon
I LOOKED HER UP AND OMG
My first thought was literally "omg she's so pretty"
10/10
She looks so cool I swear-!
But omg the ick card-
Uhhh I feel like I'm gonna be a bit basic here? Buut my choice is like every trained card from Run! Sports Festival! Committee Rush... Like the outfits are jsut not my style and just- I dunno, out of all gachas I just feel like this one-
Okey but I agree kinda here with Rui- his card looks more like 3* out of all, but if we go with that thought, there are many more card sets that are like that sometimes...
And well, I guess his card could use some additional points but I don't think it's this bad??

2.43 S1 Chapter 2.1 - Dracula and Princess Briar Rose
1. BENCHWARMER
Can we get an f in the chat for Ibara, who is looking like she’s not going to show up in the anime
Also the “Princess Briar Rose” part of the title is a pun on Ibara’s name, which means “briars” and the Japanese name for Briar Rose is Ibara-hime

Two meters and twenty-four centimeters and,
Two meters and forty-three centimeters.
What are those numbers, you ask? Those were the heights of the nets at the high school volleyball nationals. The first one was for girls, and the second one was for boys.
The difference between them was nineteen centimeters. In other words, boys played at a place nineteen centimeters higher than girls—that’s what it seemed like, but I don’t think it was so simple. There was a difference of twenty centimeters between boys and girls just from comparing the average heights of vertical jumps for a typical high schooler. If you add the difference in average height and arm length to that, then it should be a difference of forty or, if one was unlucky, fifty centimeters.
Boys competed even higher in the air above the net, which was nineteen centimeters taller than the girls’. When I watched intensity of the boys’ midair fight, it made me think how cramped and constricted we in girls’ volleyball were, just running around close to the floor. Of course, in Japan, girls’ volleyball was traditionally more popular, and there were many people who found the fun of volleyball in the combination plays and successive rallies that were distinctive to girls, so I would like to add this was purely my personal opinion. …But still, let me tell you, those rallies only lasted because of the “react-able” power and speed of the girls’ spikes. We weren’t able to react to boys’ spikes.
I was enchanted by the way the boys played. I was genuinely longing to play like them.
“Sorry, sorry, you’re from girls’ volleyball, right? We’re supposed to have a meeting today. Err…”
A remarkably tall boy spotted me and rushed over. Although, the width of each step was so big that it looked like he was calmly walking over here. He was like a giraffe…I thought, immediately overlapping the image of that tall and thin herbivore peacefully strutting in the African savannahs over him.
“I’m Suemori from 2-A. Hello.”
After curtly giving my name, my eyes returned to the court. The boy who had been standing out since earlier was just about to spike. He jumped so high that his hips were above the 2.43-meter net and slammed in a glorious spike along with a yell of “Rah!”
“Oops,” The aforementioned lanky giraffe-like boy stretched out his long arm and stopped the ball that came flying with a big bounce. While rolling it back with his foot, he called out in an exasperated-sounding voice, “You’ll hit a girl, you idiot. Be careful!” The way he spoke, like it lingered on the tongue, and his low-pitched voice really did remind me of a giraffe (although I’ve of course never heard a giraffe speak or even make a sound). I, who was 173 centimeters tall, was among the tallest in my class, including the boys, so I wasn’t treated like a girl often, but it seemed that I fit into the standard for a girl in the eyes of Giraffe Boy. On one hand, I felt embarrassed, but on the other hand, it made me feel uncomfortable.
“Soooorry.”
The boy who hit the ball just now went to the back of the spiking practice line again while throwing back an apology that didn’t sound particularly sorry.
“Um…so, let me introduce myself again, Suemori-san. I’m Aoki from 3-C.”
“I know who you are. You’re the vice president.”
Ah, nice to meet you, Giraffe Aoki-senpai said, the corners of his mouth turning up into a smile like he was eating leaves.
“Is that first-year Kuroba Yuni?”
“Eh? Oh, you know him?”
“I don’t really know him, but he’s my kouhai from middle school, so I recognize his face at least.”
Watching that first-year who was bouncing in place impatiently for his turn even though it wasn’t a long line, I was shocked, wondering if that was really the case as I confirmed it for myself. The reason for the questioning form was because he was very different from the impression I had of him in middle school. Speaking of Kuroba Yuni, wasn’t he the flunky of Kuroba Yorimichi—who was one of the “Big Four Guidance Regulars” handed down through the history of Monshiro Middle School—and a uselessly big liberal arts-type of boy?
“Boys can get pretty good all of a sudden.”
A line I heard someone said suddenly came to mind. Who said it…oh, it was Ayano. My chest ached a little as I recalled.
I heard that last year, the boys’ volleyball team at my old middle school achieved the good result of fourth place at the summer prefectural tournament. When I was there, the year before last, the boys’ team was far from a weak team…it couldn’t be called “existing”, but apparently there was a transfer student who somehow brought a miracle to the club.
“Is that kid the only one from Monshiro Middle joining this year?”
“Monshiro Middle? …Hah, I think it’s Kuroba and Nagato over there?”
I’ve seen that first-year called Nagato before, so he wasn’t that transfer student.
“I heard that there’s a great setter among our kouhai, but he didn’t come here, huh…” I murmured, but just I finished my sentence, Giraffe Aoki-senpai suddenly started coughing violently.
“…Are you alright?”
“Yeah, um, it’s just a cloud of sand.”
“Boys’ volleyball is pretty soft, I see.”
“You sure are harsh, Suemori-san.”
With another light cough, Aoki-senpai shrugged, looking embarrassed.
“It’s just how I am.”
I answered curtly on the surface, but on the inside, I was fed up with myself, thinking, Ah, I did it again. I knew full well that comments like these could hurt people.
Fortunately, Aoki-senpai didn’t seem particularly offended.
“Well, I can’t deny that, so it’s fine. Now, let’s have a discussion. Oh, I’m the vice captain. The captain is that Oda guy over there…Oi, Shin. We’re talking about the ballgame tournament!”
Nanafu Seiin Prefectural High School, located in Nanafu City, Fukui Prefecture. It took twenty-five minutes by train to go from the town of Monshiro, where my and Kuroba’s houses were located, to Nanafu Station. Including the travel time from my house to Monshiro Station, as well as the travel time from Nanafu Station to school, it took about an hour to get to school, but it was a school where there were a few people here and there from Monshiro Middle.
The ballgame tournament “Seiin Ballgame Festival,” which would take place in late June, could be called the main event of the first semester at our school. There would be six events: mixed boys’ and girls’ softball, mixed boys’ and girls’ futsal, girls’ basketball, boys’ volleyball, and girls’ volleyball. Under the supervision of the executive committee, each sports team would assist in the operation of the event. Incidentally, for many clubs, this overlapped with the time of the year when the prefectural qualifiers for summer national tournaments, so they shouldn’t have time to devote to school events by all rights, but our school didn’t have any teams that could go to nationals, so there was no problem. Rather, it was a time for a breather after being eliminated from the qualifiers.
Therefore, in the volleyball division, the boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams had to send staff members from each of their teams to run the event, but since the boys’ team was actually traditionally few in members, it was an annual custom for the girls’ team, which in contrast traditionally had a large number of members, to send out helpers.
And so unfortunately this year, the one sent in to the boys’ team in that coordinator role was me, girls’ volleyball second-year, Suemori Ibara. I said unfortunately because…being designated as a coordinator was synonymous being branded as a leftover as a player. In the girls’ team, it was a empty job where those who were judged useless were sent away.
“…So, if we follow how we did it last year, a teacher will be the chief referee, but from the club members, we need one person to be the assistant referee, one to be the scorer, two ball retrievers, and four linesmen. If it’s okay to leave out moppers, then then we need eight people for a single match. The girls will provide the two ball retrievers and two linesmen. We can’t spare anymore than that because we have to manage the girls’ side too. From the boys, please send out four people for the assistant referee, scorer, and two linesmen for each match. I think it will be difficult to divide up roles so that it won’t overlap with the people who will be in the match. Do you have any questions so far? You’re both third-years, so I think you probably knew all this, but…”
I, who had dropped my eyes to the memo I took over from my senpai in the girls’ club as I explained to that point, raised my head and saw the unreliable and worried looks on the two third-year boys, which strengthened my concern. I don’t know how to put this, but was there nothing that could be done about this vague herbivorous feeling that was common to all creatures called boys’ volleyball team members?
The aforementioned third-year who was so long and thin that he reminded one of a giraffe was the vice captain, Aoki Misao-senpai. In contrast, the captain, Oda Shinichiro-senpai was—it was rude to say this—a “pint-sized” boy. He was probably about ten centimeters shorter than me. Even if you discount the fact that I was tall for a girl, I was still way below the average height for boys. Is he a libero…? However, according to the rules, the team captain couldn’t be the libero in games, so there must have been some sort of inconvenience if the team captain was the libero.
If Aoki-senpai was a giraffe, then Oda-senpai was…what was he, a dog…yes, a dog. A Shiba inu. Crap, now I could only see him as a Shiba inu. I even saw a hallucination of him wagging his tail. Why was I talking so seriously while face to face with a giraffe and a dog? I was dying to tell someone about it…I wish I could talk to Ayano…
“Also, I’m working until the day before, not the day of, but team practice starts next week and I have to help with that as well. I’ll be inside on the day of the event for boys’ volleyball, but there will be days where I’m outside practicing…”
Since you could only take two courts in the gym, and there were four courts when you counted the outside court, boys’ and girls’ volleyball and the basketball teams competed for them. The fact that being inside was treated as “winning” and outside was “losing” was the same as marking out space for normal club activities. The ground on the outside court was dry, and if you tried to do a sliding receive, you would end up choking on a cloud of dust and your jersey and ball would turn chalk white, and depending on the weather, it’d be boiling or freezing, so we were being prejudiced against at any rate. And the tragedy of being wet and muddy after the rain didn’t need to be said.
As a result of a lottery, the venue for this year was determined to be outside for girls’ volleyball and boys’ basketball who drew “blanks”, and inside for boys’ volleyball and girls’ basketball who drew “success.”
“…You had good luck this year.”
When I muttered that in between conversations, Oda-senpai and Aoki-senpai both stiffened slightly and exchanged glances. “What is it?” I knitted my brows at this exchange that was like accomplices making eye contact with each other.
Oda-senpai sighed with a glum look on his face, and then gave a sidelong glare to Aoki-senpai.
“About that…actually, because of this guy’s cheating…”
“Hey, it’ll be awkward if you tell that to someone from girl’s volleyball. You were the one who said you wanted to be inside this year no matter what.”
“I never said a word about cheating. If the girls’ team doesn’t accept it, they might have to redo the lottery, which I don’t mind.”
While feeling a headache from the hallucination of a Shiba inu hounding a groaning giraffe and the giraffe laughing like an idiot and bending his long neck back, something occurred to me. Aoki-senpai was the vice president of the student council. The ballgame tournament was organized by the student council, and it was customary for the vice president to serve as the executive committee chairman. It would be possible for him to set up a cheating scheme for the lottery.
“I don’t see how it’s a problem. I won’t tell on you.”
I tried my best to sound indifferent.
“…It’s for Kanno’s sake, isn’t it?”
The two senpais blinked and exchanged glances once again. And then, Oda-senpai looked awkward, as expected, and Aoki-senpai didn’t look the least bit ashamed, but they both smiled bashfully.
“Yes.”
They said in unison and nodded.

Run! Sports Festival! Committee Rush! Event Story Summary
TL;DR: The Miya Girls sports festival is soon approaching. Saki invites Haruka to join the planning committee for the event, along with Emu. Though the rest of the committee members just wanted to do the same day as last year, Emu and Haruka manage to convince them to let them plan a new day where everyone, regardless of ability, can have fun. Through Emu, Haruka, and Saki's hard work, the rest of the committee was motivated to plan an incredible day.
On the day of the event, all the teams compete in events like ball toss and bamboo tug-of-war. Emu competes in the three-legged race with Mafuyu, and though she's intimidated by her false smile, the pair end up winning.
One of the students slated to run the final relay race ended up hurting their leg, so Haruka stepped in for them. Emu reassures her that things will be fine: they've been working together for so long, their baton pass will be great! When the event eventually comes around, Haruka managed to close the gap for the second years, successfully pass the baton to Emu, who narrowly won the final stretch against Mafuyu thanks to Miku's cheering (who had been hidden in a nearby tree). Immediately after the win, Emu runs to hug Haruka, joined by Ichika, Saki, and Honami. Though Haruka is sad that the day is now over, Emu shares advice from her grandpa about the fun waiting in the next day.
Fan translation (HLYF) / Official English YouTube Upload
Chapter 1: A classmate finds the penguin eraser Haruka accidentally dropped, but gets flustered upon learning it belongs to the idol. Saki and Ichika soon approach and ask if she'd like to get lunch, to which she agrees. Saki begins talking about the upcoming sports festival. She bonds with Haruka over never having the chance to do these things as kids. Saki has also joined the planning committee for the event, to which Haruka is surprised by the lack of popularity around. Saki asks if Haruka would join the committee, too. Since the rest of MORE MORE JUMP! are ok with it, she agrees. Meanwhile, Emu dances down the hallway, singing about the sports festival.
Chapter 2: Saki and Haruka are disappointed by the lack of creativity within the planning, as they've only been using ideas from the past year. Suddenly, Emu speaks up about how she wants to come up with a whole bunch of new ideas so everyone, athletic or not, can have a fun time and leave with a smile! However, the other committee members aren't willing to put in the time at shut her down. Haruka decides to support Emu anyways and proposes reviving old events to make things more manageable. The committee eventually relents and lets them (and Saki) create a schedule.
Chapter 3: Emu and Haruka go to the gym storeroom to check supplies. Emu's excited to be inside, since she'd only been able to look through the window before (which happened to be two stories up). Haruka asks why Emu keeps mentioning shows, so she explains her job at Phoenix Wonderland. Haruka admires the goal of making others smile and decides to go see a show one day.
Saki gives the rest of the committee members the advertisement posters, while Emu hands them the completed event list. She and Haruka will keep working on a manageable schedule so even busy students can compete in something. Once the two finished a while later, Saki handed them a completed participant list. The hard work they'd shown motivated the others to pitch in more.
Chapter 4: Emu goes to practice the three-legged race with the upperclassmen. She's partnered with Mafuyu, who despite being popular with the others, scared Emu with her false smile. Honami comes over to say hi, immediately noticing Emu's nervousness. She assumes it's because of Mafuyu's strong reputation and cheers them on.
Later in the SEKAI, Miku complains to KAITO about not seeing Emu much recently. Coincidentally, Emu pops into the SEKAI at that moment. She's come to tell Miku all about the fun stuff she'd planned. Miku decides to come as a cheerleader since she can't directly participate.
Chapter 5: The day of the festival arrives. Shiho, Kohane, and Minori participate in the ball toss, but Shiho can't get herself to throw the cute animal themed balls. Some students gossip about how well Shizuku and Airi did in the bamboo tug-of-war, too. Miku pops by with hand-made pom-poms to cheer Emu on, so Emu places her phone in a special tree so Miku can see everything without being detected.
The time for the three legged race has arrived. Though Emu is still scared of Mafuyu, she wants to do her best for Miku. The pair ended up taking first place. For just a moment, Emu thinks she's seen a true smile from Mafuyu, but the false one returns the moment the others come over to congratulate them.
Chapter 6: A student accidentally injured their leg and was no longer able to compete in the grand finale relay race. Saki takes them to the nurse, and Haruka takes their place as the substitute. Though she's a bit nervous about the baton pass, Emu reassures her that it will be fine, since they've been working together on the committee for so long. The two practice a bit before the big event.
At the start of the race, the first years are in last but slowly catching up. Haruka takes the baton and closes the gap even more. Haruka's pass to Emu was flawless, leaving an intense race for the finish to Emu and Mafuyu.
Chapter 7: Thanks to Miku's cheering, Emu managed to just barely win the race for the first year team. She immediately runs to celebrate with Haruka. Haruka tears up, happy she decided to return to school. Ichika, Saki, and Honami all join in on the celebration. Emu then goes to retrieve her phone, where Miku congratulates Emu on the win. Emu thanks Miku for the support and tries showing her around the school, but gets called over by the cleaning committee before she can.
Chapter 8: Saki invites Haruka to her celebratory dinner party after they finish cleaning up, to which she accepts. When cleaning with Emu, she admits she's sad by the day being over. Emu tells her that her grandpa once said the fun is waiting for what lies in tomorrow, so even though today is done, there's still much more left to do! Haruka laughs, since Emu reminds her of Minori.
A few days later, the classmate that had gotten injured hands Haruka a limited-edition Phenny keychain as a thank you, and also asks if she'd like to hang out together one day.

Details on $1B aid and Whitecaps back to training; In The News for May 13
In The News is a roundup of stories from The Canadian Press designed to kickstart your day. Here is what’s on the radar of our editors for the morning of May 13 …
—
COVID-19 in Canada ….
OTTAWA — The federal government will disclose details today of nearly $1 billion in emergency aid to be doled out to small businesses through its six regional economic development agencies.
The government announced several weeks ago the creation of a new Regional Relief and Recovery Fund but did not reveal much in the way of detail, apart from the overall amount of $962 million.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Economic Development Minister Melanie Joly are expected to fill in some of the blanks today, including how much money each of the six regional agencies — for the West, North, Atlantic, Quebec and northern and southern Ontario — are to receive and what each plans to do with it.
Each agency is expected to take a somewhat different approach to its share of the fund, targeting small businesses most in need in each region.
Overall, the fund is to commit $675 million to support regional economies, businesses, organizations and communities and another $287 million to support the national network of community futures development corporations, which are to specifically target small businesses and rural communities across the country.
The fund is intended to cushion the financial blow experienced by businesses and organizations to allow them to continue their operations, including paying their employees, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
—
In other Canadian news …
CALGARY — A judge is scheduled to deliver a verdict today in the case of a Calgary man charged with killing his young daughter.
Oluwatosin Oluwafemi has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the death of four-year-old Olive Rebekah in 2014.
The trial heard that Oluwafemi called his wife at work, and she rushed home to find him performing C-P-R on their daughter.
A paramedic testified that when he arrived the girl was unconscious, not breathing and in cardiac arrest.
He said he received no explanation from the people in the home about what happened.
The Crown says the case is largely circumstantial — that the little girl died of multiple blunt force trauma, and the only other person in the home at the time was her father.
The defence told the trial that there’s no proof the man did anything to the child.
—
In case you missed it …
TORONTO — The Canadian National Exhibition has been cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The annual summer spectacle joins a slew of large public events sidelined by the outbreak, which also forced the cancellation of Toronto’s Pride Parade and Caribbean Carnival, the Calgary Stampede, live Canada Day events in Ottawa and music festivals across the country.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford broke the news at a televised press conference Tuesday, when he reminisced about his own treasured memories at the family-friendly cavalcade of amusement rides, agricultural exhibits and food.
“These are some of the sacrifices that we’re facing as a society,” Ford said. “It’s something part of our culture here, part of our heritage going back over 100 years, so I’m going to miss it.”
The Canadian National Exhibition Association said Tuesday the cancellation was “the right decision during this critical time to protect the health of all Canadians.”
This is only the second time in the fair’s 142-year history that it has cancelled all events. The last time was the Second World War, when the site was transformed into a training and recruitment centre.
The CNE is one of the largest fairs in North America and attracts more than 1.4 million visitors each year.
The 18-day event had been slated to run Aug. 21 to Sept. 7.
—
COVID-19 in the U.S. …
It appears the dispute between Tesla and San Francisco Bay Area authorities over the reopening of a factory in the face of coronavirus shutdown orders is coming to an end.
The Alameda County Health Department announced on Twitter today that the Fremont, Calif., plant will be able to go beyond basic operations this week and start making vehicles this coming Monday — as long as it delivers on worker safety precautions that it agreed to.
It wasn’t clear from the statement whether Tesla would face any punishment for reopening Monday in defiance of county orders.
In Washington, the U.S. government’s top infectious disease expert issued a blunt warning that cities and states could see more COVID-19 deaths and economic damage if they lift stay-at-home orders too swiftly.
As Dr. Anthony Fauci testified by video to a Senate committee, his cautions on Tuesday marked a sharp contrast to President Donald Trump, who is pushing to right a free-falling economy.

COVID-19 in sports …
The Vancouver Whitecaps got back to training Tuesday, albeit via voluntary individual workouts at the club’s practice facility.
Still it was a welcome return for 16 players, who each had a quarter of a field to work in during their hour-long outdoor sessions. Another nine are slated to go Wednesday at the team’s training centre at the University of British Columbia.
The players had been on their own since March 12 when MLS suspended play two weeks into the 2020 season due to the global pandemic.
“”It was special … especially on the mental side,” said Whitecaps head coach Marc Dos Santos. “Just to have the players being together and slowly seeing each other, even if it’s on another side of the field.”
“I think it’s a very important step,” he added. “It’s Step 1, cleats going on the grass, touching the ball, seeing their teammates around, seeing coaches back around. It’s a beginning.”
Toronto FC started individual workouts Monday. The Montreal Impact are looking to join them after having their initial request rejected by Montreal Public Health.

I am going to request a headcanon/scenario on like a special sports event(1B and 3A are going to be girls then 3A will be cheerleaders and 1A , Tenkousei and 3B are the announcers/failicators)Everyone will form in groups of 3(Format:1 from 2A,1 from 2B and 1 from 1B) Then the 1B one must stand on top of 2A and 2B members who will be squatting down.(I also want a match up but it will be in the next ask as not enough space)
whew it’s here !!! this one ended up longer than usual… i had a lot of fun with it though ! as you’ll see i reinterpreted things a little bit to make it fit better into the story, but the original elements are still here~ those poor boys, forced to be cheerleaders… also i’m not sure what to tag this as since everyone is here, even if just for a line wwww - mod mademoiselle
Sports Festival - The Cavalry Battle Event ✰
read more’d for length !
The sports festivalin Yumenosaki Academy was going great ! ….. Well, it was great so far, anyway. You were named as one of the facilitators, and were mainly workingbehind the scenes to make for an easy festival. Fortunately, youweren’t alone : the students from classes 1A and 3B were giving you a hand.
So you were mainlymoving stuff around, making sure the festival’s timing was right and smoothingeverything along. Kuro, Tetora and Tomoya were working with you, andyou were really glad they were here. For once, Kuro was taking chargeof moving around all the heavy stuff. “Don’t go ‘round hurtingyourself, little miss”, he’d said earlier, patting yourback. Tetora was mainly here to fuel your enthusiasm and make jokes.Tomoya was a bit intimidated by the other two but was glad he wasbeing useful. He’d just follow your every command and run about likea little puppy. That was pretty cute… When you were done cleaningup the mess the earlier group had made during one of the events, youwent to the broadcasting committee’s tent. You had only a little bitof time to spare before the next sports event would start, and youwere looking at the students sitting in the shade with enviouseyes…
When you arrivedthere, you let yourself fall onto one of the available chairs,dead-beat. Hinata, who was busy taking care of the music playedon the speakers, gave you a sympathetic smile and handed you hishalf-empty sports drink. You accepted without second thoughts :sweet, sweet fresh liquid… Maybe that was what heaven felt like. Before you had the time to ponder about that, a familiar, anxiousvoice brought you back to earth.
“Um, nii-chan,we’re running late… the next event should have started threeminutes ago, actually… What should we do ?”Hajime wasnervously biting down on his fingers, while Nazuna, seated in frontof the mic, was frowning at his phone. Apparently he didn’t have muchluck trying to call whoever was causing trouble.
“It’sWataru-chin again… I told him not to make a fuss, but you knowhim.” Unlike his usual behaviour, Nazuna looked as tired aseveryone else. It didn’t help that the afternoon was already welladvanced. He was fanning himself while staring at a balloon soaring inthe sky. Up there was (obviously) Wataru himself, acting as the MCand announcer in place of Nazuna. Leo was trying to communicate withhim using a flashlight, not that he had much success though. Wataruwas (as usual) doing as he pleased. You were about to gently patNazuna’s shoulder to comfort him when Wataru’s voice echoed loudly, making you jump up in surprise.
“… and now, ladies and gentlemen, your very own Hibiki Wataru has the immenseprivilege to announce the beginning of the next event ! Beware, forour proud cavaliers will make your hearts stutter !”
“What the heckdoes that mean, though ?” Hinata whispered in your ear and thetwo of you giggled. Wataru was now throwing confetti, more excitedthan ever.
“Yes, it isthe beginning of the wonderful Cavalry Battle !”
Midori, who wasshielding his eyes to see the event happening further on the grounds, let out a surprised gasp. You and Hinata exchanged a glance andimmediately stood up. If even Midori was surprised, that could onlymean…
You couldn’t helpbut snort when you saw them. That looked like an average cavalrybattle game at first : two students (from classes 2A and 2Brespectively) were carrying one other (from 1B, apparently) andgetting ready to engage in a fight with another group. But one thingwas terribly wrong.
The first yearstudents were dressed as female cheerleaders.
Hinata startedhowling in laughter, pointing at his twin brother. “Yuta too !Oh my god, this is the best thing ever ! I’ve gotta film this !”The other students under the tent had also stood up in surprise…
… but your eyesweren’t deceiving you. That was exactly what was happening. Shinobusomehow managed to be proud of his position, standing on top of anover-enthusiastic Subaru and a sceptical-looking Mao. His rival, onthe other hand, didn’t look nearly as proud. “I’m going todieeeee~ ! I’m really going to die, put me down, Yuzuruuuuuu~ !”Yep, that was Tori all right. Yuzuru seemed to be smiling brightly, while Souma looked concentrated as ever. He even dodged one of Tori’shelpless kicks expertly. Nazuna somehow managed to stay concentrated,as he spoke in the mic again. “On your marks, set… Go !”
The other studentswere laughing uncontrollably. This was ridiculous. The confrontationbetween Shinobu and Tori especially so. Tori seemed to be avoidingthe fight, crying loudly that there would be consequences.
Your gaze shiftedto another fight. An ever-concentrated Natsume and Mika were carryingSora, who was pirouetting and waving to the crowd. Natsume seemed tobe busy thinking of a strategy… That group looked unusuallyserious. And they could be : their opponents were none other than thefearsome Track and Field club members. Adonis was almost carrying avery determined Mitsuru single-handedly : Arashi was barely holdinghis leg. They were rushing to Sora’s group : that one promised to bea fearsome fight. You were about to ask Nazuna about the rules ofthis event when Wataru’s voice echoed loudly in his own mic.
“As you mighthave guessed it, ladies and gentlemen, the whole purpose of thismounted cavalry battle is to dethrone your opponent… ! Make himfall from his mount and give him a taste of humiliation ! Only thatway will you prove your worth as a man…✰”
You weren’t reallysure how to feel about this whole catastrophe of an event, until youturned your head to the third and last fight. Tsukasa was fumblinghelplessly, while Makoto was obviously struggling to carry him andRitsu looked like he was about to pass out. When poor Tsukasa’s eyeslocked with yours, he shamefully averted his gaze, cheeks as red ashis hair. Meanwhile, Yuta was trying his best to hold his miniskirtin place. He looked decidedly pinker than usual, but for his defense, there was quite a lot of wind on that day. His “mount”,Hokuto and Koga, were rushing to their opponents. Koga was shoutinginsults to the other team : maybe they went for an intimidationstrategy… Inbetween fits of laughter, Hinata managed to shout :“Make your big bro proud, Yuta-kun~ ! Fight for your honor as aman !” Yuta apparently heard him, as he shot him a nasty glare. He wasn’t the only one : under the tent opposite yours, Rei waswaving a huge sign that read “DO YOUR BEST RITSU-CHAN” andloudly cheering on his brother. Said brother looked so pale that youwondered if he was even going to make it…
Soon enough, this farce of an event stopped, naming Adonis, Arashi and Mitsuru’steam as the winners. They’d managed to hold until the end and makeall of their opponents fall, after all. Or so you thought : you’d been laughingand joking about it with Hinata the whole time. Kanata and Tsumugiwere busy handing sports drinks to the exhausted students, whileWataru had begun throwing confetti at the crowd again. Wait, thosewere flower petals, not confetti…
“What anAMAZING event ! I hope your eyes are still burning with those vividlybeautiful images we just saw !” Wait, did he laugh ? Youthought you heard him trying to muffle his laughter while speaking…Wataru kept going anyway, pointing at a huge and empty stage. Thevery stage you helped build, and your back was still remembering itbitterly.
“To soothedown your fatigued muscles, let us revel in the beautiful song ourvery own cheerleaders will offer us… ✰” Wait. Morecheerleaders ?
Wataru was actuallyright : the 3A students, whom everyone had forgotten about, were nowstanding on the stage, waving and smiling at the crowd. And they were wearing cheerleader uniforms too ! Thankfully they didn’t wear skirts, but shorts instead. Keito was still flushing hotly. Maybe it was justthe sun getting to him, though. The show was good but you distinctlymade out two groups among the lovely cheerleaders : the “Let’sget the party started” group, composed of Kaoru, Chiaki andMadara, who were ready to shine bright as idols no matter whatclothes they were wearing… and the “Please let me hide in acorner” group, in which you’d put Keito, Shu and Izumi as theyinsisted to hide behind everyone else during the entire duration ofthe show. Special mention goes to Eichi, who winked at the crowd arecord number of times even though he looked like he was about to dieany moment. All of the students cheered a lot, and your hands hurt fromclapping, but all that cheering was probably just to make fun ofthem. Judging by how some guys were doubling over laughing, they werehaving a lot of fun with that situation.
As soon as thatstrange live show was over, you found yourself helping everyoneclean up the school. You were putting away the chairs the audience had used whenyou felt a hand suddenly clasp your shoulder. Surprised, you turnedover, nearly letting the chair you held fall on your feet : behindyou stood Wataru, looking as fresh and amused as ever. “So, dearproducer ? How did you like today’s performance ?” You couldn’thelp but smile, but still went to put the chair away as you shouldbefore answering.
“So you werethe one behind all that crazy stuff, right ?” He smiled proudly, even bowing a little before you when he saw you knew.
“That’s right, and do you want to know the best part about it ? I did it all foryour sake. You deserve to rest a little from time to time, andlaughing is nothing more than resting your heart, after all…”
You stopped in yourtracks, feeling your cheeks grow a little redder. For you… ? Beforeyou even had time to answer, he gently stroked your shoulder, addingin a whisper “Now I really should go, dear producer, lest theunamused bad guys find me… ✰” And sure enough, he went outwith a loud bang and a flash of smoke that left you coughing for amoment. When Keito hurried to you, Wataru was already long gone. As thevice-president was chastising you for refusing to tell him whereexactly he was, you couldn’t help but smile.
After all, theperpetrator was gone, but the memories made on that crazy day werenot.

Prompt: chuck clayton vowed to get Betty back for what she did to him, so he decided to humiliate her by doing something to her cheer uniform in the middle of a big crowd, juggie helped her cover up by giving her his flannel shirt...
(This is rather angsty, I’m sorry!! Hope you like it, dear!!! Thank you for requesting!
With hands hidden inside the pockets of his jeans andheadphones adorning his neck as usual, Jughead made lazily his way to thecentral park of their small town, already detecting the hordes of people thatfilled the historic site from a corner away. Today was a big day for Riverdale.
Today marked the 60th anniversary of thefoundation of Riverdale’s very famous and very beloved varsity team, theirRiver Bulldogs, and the town had worn its best to celebrate its athletic stars.Like any other year at this date, every street and every shop were decoratedwith flags and posters and banners and shiny confetti, all in the colors ofblue and gold. Bakers were selling lemon cupcakes with yellow frosting and bluesprinkles, Sheriff Keller was patrolling with only the blue lights flickeringon top of his police car, even Pop’s had a special menu for the day, consistingof hotdogs and fries served in blue and yellow wrappers along with a blueraspberry milkshake. The peak of all these festivities was a huge gather aroundat Riverdale’s Central Park where music, food and dance lasted till the smallhours. Yeah, their town was crazy just like that.
Jughead could always remember himself slouching in abooth as Pop’s at such date, gloomy and grumpy at how ridiculous and pointlesssuch fiestas were in his opinion. However, this year he could feel a tad ofexcitement run to his system, just like any other high schooler or resident ofthis town. It wasn’t because the event was a tad bigger this year – sixty yearsfor some reason were a big deal – nor because Chuck Clayton and his gooneys’squad wouldn’t be the guests of honor, bragging and sporting cocky grins likealways – even though that was indeed very satisfying. It was because a certainblonde haired, blue eyed someone could barely hold back her own radiatingthrill and wide smile this whole passed week.
That’s why the otherwise apathetic boy was coming tojoin the celebrations that he kept on avoiding like a mouse its trap. With theexcuse that he had to cover the event for the Blue & Gold – which wasn’treally an excuse, Betty had assigned him to do that – Jughead found himselfmingling with the big crowd of adults, teens and little kinds running aroundwith tiny ‘Go, Bulldogs!’ flags. He wandered around for a bit, grabbing somedelicious treats from the wide buffet and a blue plastic cup of soda before searchingfor a familiar face so not to be bored out of his mind. Jughead spotted Kevinwaving at him and went his direction, seeing as Archie was with the rest of histeammates, all of them dressed in matching beige pants, blue dress shirts andblue and gold stripped ties, looking like they came straight out of a boardingschool in their formal team attire. Chuck Clayton was nowhere to be found andthat brought a small satisfied smirk to his lips.
Some speeches came soon after from mayor McCoy, thehead of the football committee, Weatherbee, Coach Clayton. There was a momentof silence in the memory of Jason Blossom and his framed jersey was revealed bya white sheet, announced to be hung at the school gym the next day, somethingthat erupted a round of loud applause and some tears here and there. ThenReggie was called up to officially accept his place as captain of the team andthat brought back the previous excitement of the crowd, the coach ending hisspeech with some inspirational and encouraging words about the team, of coursenot even mentioning anything regarding his son or the incident that cost himthat very own spot, before he called for the River Vixens, the last installationof the town’s yearly tradition.
Betty was a ball of excitement as she skipped happilyalong with the rest of the cheerleaders to the center of the makeshift stage. She wasn’t nervous or scared that she was going to mess up and make a fool ofherself like all the other times; she was utterly happy and excited. She wasclad in the Vixens’ formal cheerleading uniform, the iconic uniform she had dreamed of wearing even once in her life since she was ten, the one they used for out oftown games or championships or cheerleading competitions. The long-sleeved blueshirt ended just under her breasts in a reversed V-line, a golden R right atthe center of her chest and golden details at the seam lines matching with anA-line super mini skirt at the same shade of blue with golden delicate lines runningdiagonally from her right hip to her left thigh where a slit was revealing evenmore of her thigh. Her hair was up in her usual ponytail, more curly and bouncythan ever, gathered in a blue and gold ribbon and she was shaking her metallicblue and gold pom-poms in the air in a thrilling manner.
Betty Cooper was feeling confident and beautiful forthe first time in her life. She had a big role in today’s routine and Cherylhad even assigned to the blonde girl her very first stunt. Her mom was eventhere and seemed pretty excited too with her daughter’s accomplishment. Todaywas her night and nothing was going to change that.
“One and two and three, you’re looking at Riverdale’sVarsity! Four and five and six, Bulldogs fight and victory is all they bring!”all of them chanted in their cheer voices and huge smiles, doing numerousmotions and hand clasps to raise the athletic spirit, before getting intoformation, and the crowd hooted and hollered with loud claps before some upbeatpop music started playing.
Jughead’s blue eyes were glued on the blonde beautyfrom the first time she had appeared to his vision. He knew firsthand howexcited she was for that event; not only it was the only thing that she kepttalking about at the Blue & Gold but he was also the first one to see herbrand new uniform and the first one she came hugging in delight as she rushedin the dusty classroom, so happy that Cheryl had finally let her put her yearsof gymnastics in use. However, what he was witnessing right now was out of thisworld. She was moving with certainty to the beat, cat eyes shining with fireand smile bright and dazzling, and he would swear this girl was able tomesmerize the whole town if she wanted to. There were two loud boom, boom of the bass and Jughead sawher bumping her fists on either of her hipbones rhythmically while moving herhips too, the boy raising his eyebrows in appreciation of those hips and feelinga little hot in all the right places with the way her already too short skirtwas rising up her thighs. She truly was a sight to see.
The pop singer was saying something about giving ithotter than hell and Jughead immediately thought that there wasn’t any lyricmore suitable for Betty Cooper right now; she was hot as hell and that excitedhim for some reason, urging him to clap his hands to the rhythm along with therest of the cheering crowd and huff with a surprised and awestruck smile. Hesaw her and Veronica wink at each other and then bump each other’s hip, somethingthat made him chuckle, before the two girls did a cartwheel in different directionsand then the big moment came. Betty was being raised in the air, clasping oncebefore resting only one foot on the girls that were supporting her and bringingthe other up by her heel, smiling bright. Jughead’s loud and smiley ‘yes!’, in perfect coordination withKevin’s baritone ‘go, Betty!’ weretruly involuntary, the two boys clapping loudly for their friend.
Everything after that happened in slow motion. Bettywas ushered successfully to the ground, she cat walked to the very front withsome sways of her hips, did a broken T along with some other cheerleaders andbounced her chest to the beat before running her hands down her sides to herhips to round them seductively and just as she sent a playful kiss to thecrowd, feeling extra confident, something cold and sticky knocked her off, making her close her eyes at the impact and stagger backwards as the musicstopped and the crowd erupted in a big, surprised oh.
“You can’t wash Jason’s blood off your family, Cooper!”a hoarse voice echoed angrily and no other than Chuck Clayton himself fledquickly from the scene and into one of his jackass friends’ car that violently sped off, before anyone could take any action.
Her eyes snapped open and came across a sea of red allover her, something sticky and gross and awful smelling staining her dreamuniform. Betty could feel it running down her uncovered legs and staining herpitch white sneakers as well as burning the side of her face and she broughther shaky hand to touch her cheek, eyes and mouth wide in shock and utterconfusion. Her fingers turned bloody red and they started shaking more as she broughtthem back down to examine them, red paint mixed with something else in order tolook close enough to what human blood looked and felt like. Chuck wantedrevenge for exposing him; and he wanted it bad.
Betty could feel herself hypervating, the hushedmurmuring from everyone around making it even worse and she needed to get outof there, needed to run. She dropped her head to the floor and quickly got offstage, quickening her pace ashamed and in a verge of tears and a severe panicattack, but she came across another pair of feet in front of her and looked up,only to see Jughead frowning down at her. He took in her appearance, the awfulblood-like stain on her clothes, her splattered face, her shaky form, herwatery eyes before sending a disappointed look around the people that knewnothing but to gossip. Quickly, he took off his black and white flannel anddraped it over her shoulders protectively, Betty clutching the lapels anddropping her face again while he hugged her shoulders and emerged her out ofthat awful place in a hurry.
Jughead rushed her into Pop’s, the only shop closeenough and open at this hour and date, the old man’s face dropping upon seeingBetty in a state like that but sensible enough to not ask questions, and theraven haired boy brought her to the lady’s restroom, thankful that nobody wasthere before locking the door behind them.
Betty got free of his arms and rushed to the sink, bloody marks decorating the cold porcelain as she held on to it, shaking hisshirt off her shoulders to drop carelessly on the floor, not wanting anythingon her body right now. “I need to wash this off, I need to wash this off, Ineed to…” she was repeating on and on like a mantra under her breath, breathingheavily and with difficulty, in a state of stock, despair and anxiety, openingthe tub with full force and splashing water over her face, water dropletsstaining the mirror and wetting her already ruined clothes.
Jughead tried to take hold of her arms to calm her abit down but she squirmed under his touch and he retrieved them but stayedbehind her in a desperate need to help her somehow. He was starting to feelanxious and angry too. She kept rubbing and rubbing her face on, harsh and withvenom, ready to claw her own skin if needed to erase that smell and that toxicthing off her. She groaned defeated and held on to the sink once again, raisingher head and facing her reflection in the mirror, pretty face flushed from thepaint and her vicious rubbing and her anger and she attacked the zipper at herback this time.
“I want this off, take it off, want this off, need this!” she was hypervating andtrying to pull the zipper down, shaky hands clawing at her shoulders and tugging violently at her shirt’s neckline.
“Betty” Jughead tried, his voice hoarse.
“NO! TAKE IT OFF, I CAN’T BREATH, TAKE IT OFF!” sheyelled at the top of her lungs, Jughead actually fearing for her and loweringthe zipper with ease, the girl ripping the ruined blouse off her skin and throwing it to the ground with venom, before she erupted in loud sobs, her tinyfigure shaking violently, as she hugged herself over the material of her lightgrey sports bra, in a desperate need to keep herself together.
“Hey, hey” he came in front of her, bowing down toplace his palms on her soaked cheeks to make her look at him, even though hereyes were firm closed. “No one’s here, you’re safe, Bets, please, you’re safe.”Jughead kept reassuring her in a soft tone.
“Why do I always have to feel like that? Why can’t onesingle thing be perfect in my life? Why everything has to be ruined everytime?”she kept saying between her sobs, voice painful and face hot from emotion. “Idon’t deserve anything, I don’t, I don’t.” she went on full sobbing mode now, bringing her hands to clutch the material of his t-shirt in her fists andJughead’s heart broke in million pieces at the sight of her.
He didn’t know what to say and, at this moment, hebelieved she didn’t want any false promises or sweet nothings but somebody tobe there and be her safe place to land. So he just let her crash on his chestand fill his shirt with salty tears and muffled heart-breaking sobs, prayingfor her broken heart to find peace soon and vowing to find that mother-Chucker and painfully make him pay.
“I can’t, I can’t, I can’t.” Betty sobbed and herbreaths started getting uneven again. “I just wanted to avenge us girls, you know? I couldn’t handle us being the victim anymore, an item, while they laughed and keptscore with our emotions and heartbreaks. It was my sister, Jughead, my ownsister that they broke and now they wanna break me too!” she was breathing withdifficulty now, like she had just ran a marathon and Jughead knew that wasthe time to take action.
“Betty, look at me, come on, look at me!” he pulledback and spoke over her hypervating sobs, shaking her shoulders a little forher to uncover her face from her hands. “Look, look, look, shh!” he took holdof her cheeks and made her finally look at him, eyes bloodshot with all hercrying. “Focus on me; breathe in, breathe out.” He instructed while doing so,seeing her mimicking him with sharp and shaky exhales and inhales, until shewas calmer and her breathing was normal.
“You did nothing wrong, you hear me? Nothing. And with what ChuckClayton did today, he didn’t humiliate you but only himself, showing to the worldhow much of a low-leveled coward he is one more time.” Jughead said softly, histhumps lightly caressing her soaked cheeks and his eyes staying in contact withher watery and mascara filled ones. She wasn’t crying anymore, just shreddingsome last tears, and Jughead could feel a little calmer too.
“Maybe I do have Jason’s blood on my hands.” Bettyreplied in barely a whisper, rubbing her palms together, the paint now dry andbloody red on her skin.
Jughead snatched some paper towels and watered them, delicately wiping off some red drops that were still staining her chin. “Whateveryour parents did, if they didanything at all, is not your fault and definitely not your place to be punishedfor it.” He caressed her cheek with all the love he had for her but couldn’t saywith words, seeing her leaning on the warmth of his hand and closing her eyes, trying tofind some comfort in his small gestures of affection. “And you did the rightthing by exposing all their rotten fame; you should be proud of yourself. Noone gets to treat you, or any girl for that matter, like meat and build some prosperous career by that.” Jughead had felt his blood boil once he had read herarticle about that infamous book and he could certainly feel it too once again, now even more than before.
Betty just nodded, biting her lip to hold back hertears. No more stupid tears for that egoistic brick, she vowed to herself.
“C’mon, it’s time to get you home.” He gave her templea fierce peck before gathering his flannel from the floor and put it on her semi-nakedtorso, looking away with tact until she was done buttoning it up.
“Thank you for being here.” She whispered against hischest minutes later, once clinging to his side, the two of them strolling onthe now empty roads of Riverdale.
He just held her closer, tightening his hold over hershoulders in a silent promise that he was always gonna be there for her to holdher and pick her up, even if the world came crumbling down around them.
