Headcanon: Deep down they both want to be their fairy godparent/godkid again after losing them, but don't believe they deserve each other and feel like they aren't worthy to be their companion anymore

A whole world of creatures like them, how strange and fantastic to imagine. They'd been alone for so long they'd begun to believe they were the only thing in the whole of existence before the humans and Plants had come. Now, it seems there's even more out there beyond even that.

It makes the swarm feel a little less lonely, and they know the Hive would feel the same.

The single Worm wiggles it's antenna at the larger bug and burrows into Zazie's hair, returning back to the core of the facade the swarm keeps.

"The humans fell from the sky in great metal shells and fire a hundred and fifty rotations ago. We'd never met anything but us before then. We thought we were all alone out there in existence. It's nice to know we're not, but better to see there are others like us. We remember when there was other life before, but it's been so long. This place is strange, green and wet and cold and busy. We don't know if we like it yet. The Hive isn't here either, we can't hear them." The larger bug is a comfort there, something like them even if not of them, something larger to take shelter against when their swarm is so relatively small.

They're used to being physically small, but this mental smallness when they're all the Worms there are here is strange and unnerving.

"Kin is good, it's been a very long time since we had any kin." They hum lower, a mournful little song for lost Others long before they met humans, though it pitches higher again in joy at having a more familiar Other now to interact with.

Heh. Cute, he thinks, an invitation taken.

“So it seems. But my assurances, from Earth I am not. You could say I am from a world where everyone is like you and I—rather than us being rare outliers.”

Perhaps others would be unnerved by the sudden appearance of that creature. Firm chitin and frightening weapons blessed by the hand of nature. That made for nothing unusual.

“Not the Wyrms I know, then...” Hivemind. “Only had I first seen a human upon my arrival here.”

Grimm raises his head, though he still stares down. The noise he hears is pitched higher than anything else he has heard uttered by the beings of this land; a sound familiar as street chatter, though he could not replicate it himself.

“...But in this way, we are kin, are we not?”

it bugs me so much when I see people complaining about the lack of women in jrwi when like.... riptide is right there. riptide has so many cool npcs who are women VERY early on in the campaign and throughout the rest of it, PLUS a badass pc (jay) who is one of the best played/written characters in ANY of the jrwi campaigns. like. what's the issue here. you don't even have to go to a new show for cool women, literally their longest running campaign has a ton of them !!!

Dedan, Guardian of Zone 1 and Metal

The Zone of Alma oversees all raw material procurement in the Queen's lands, whether that's mining, agriculture, or recovery, which is then sent to Vesper for processing. Its wrathful Guardian, Dedan, has ruled it with an iron fist since its inception. While the suns of untold years has baked his skin just the same as a human, he doesn't appear to be one like the Elsen he keeps under his boot. He's as overworked as they are, his teeth and nails overgrown due to neglect because of time, time, time. There's just not enough damn TIME for everything he needs to do so he cuts out what he considers the least important events in his schedule, putting himself last to serve the Queen first. Rumors once abounded about how Dedan had a sunnier disposition, bringing hopes his sour mood might wane someday, but now they're just the stuff of barely-uttered legends on woefully short breaks.

I kinda feel like I Disneyfied him but you know how many naked molerat anthros I've seen in general. zero. fite me ignore the fact that I haven't actively looked for them shhh

yoinked his palette from one of the bits of art Mortis Ghost drew that depicted the Guardians in color because it makes him look kinda rusty

Anyway some little trivia nibbles:

heavy smoker. not like he can get cancer, so

he used to be just as pale as the Batter is and and now he's the posterchild for a lifetime in a tanning booth

has no front teeth for his "inner" mouth, because they make up the large chompers outside of it toothless grandpa Dedan lul

he can open his mouth very, very, TERRIFYINGLY wide if he needs to and has a biteforce like nothing else in the Zones

his body being metal and kind of rough means you can strike a match off him. he'll instantly put you in the ground for it tho

for the same reason he's like a living magnesium firestarter and can start fires off of himself with friction such as by rubbing his fingers

theoretically could be scruffed like a naked molerat can be, but because he's absolutely shredded all the muscle mostly prevents that. in the past Enoch has settled for grabbing him by the collar of his coat instead (Dedan has always hated this)

dislikes the sun/light and his eyesight suffers quite a bit during the day, and generally hates being above ground to begin with, so he def likes the mines the most

an old rumor says he wrestled with a rampaging Moloch bull once until it settled down, but nobody can agree if it took a few hours or a few days for him to calm it that way. discussing these old legends about their boss is one of the ways Elsen trapped in the mines will pass the time while hopefully awaiting rescue, and sometimes the debates can get heated (for them, anyway)

The worst thing Miguel and Jessica did to Gwen wasn't even threatening to send her home if she ever visits Miles, it's forcing her to choose their side during the chase scene and make Miles never want to see her again and once the chase scene ended they kicked her out. That's the kind of evil that the Spot was trying so hard to become.

Edit: just in case you forgot - they knew that prison and dead dad were waiting for her when they send her back home
